News: The Giants have claimed WR Chris Davis off waivers from the Bengals.
Analysis: He isn't expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters.
News: The Bengals waived WR Chris Davis on Tuesday. Davis, a third-year player in 2010, had signed with the team as a free agent on March 12. He was a fourth-round Tennessee draft choice in 2007 and played in two seasons with the Titans.
Analysis: Davis will look to sign on with a new team, but he has minimal Fantasy value even if he lands somewhere else. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Bengals have signed free agent WR Chris Davis to a contract. He has seven career catches for 69 yards.
Analysis: He doesn't post enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters for now.
News: The Titans have re-signed WR/KR Chris Davis, according to the Nashville City Paper. Davis will be asked to work on special teams.
Analysis: He isn't expected to produce enough stats on a regular basis to be useful in Fantasy. Keep him off rosters.
News: The Titans released two players Monday, receiver Chris Davis and offensive lineman Doug Datish. Davis is the player arrested Friday morning for drunk driving in Nashville after being left behind with an injured left hamstring while the team flew to Dallas for an exhibition. Fisher said Davis' injury would have kept him from being available before the final roster cutdown Sept. 5. That, combined with what Fisher called "everything else," the coach said made it the logical move to clear roster space.
Analysis: Davis was a long shot to make the final roster and should be ignored in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Police in Nashville have charged Tennessee Titans receiver Chris Davis with DUI. A release from the Metro Nashville Police Department says Davis was stopped early Friday for speeding downtown. The arrest report stated when the officer pulled over Davis' car, the player smelled of alcohol and his eyes were watery. Davis consented to a breath alcohol test, which registered 0.11. The level of intoxication in Tennessee is 0.08. Davis is recovering from a hamstring injury and did not travel with the Titans to a preseason game on Friday night at Dallas.
Analysis: This is bad news for Davis, who might not make the final roster for the Titans. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day, especially following this latest incident.
News: The Tennessean reports Titans receivers coach Fred Graves reports young receivers Chris Davis and Paul Williams need to improve this season. "You get to a point in the NFL where guys, whether it's year one, two or three you have to start producing," Graves said. "And that's been the bottom line when we've talked to them. They've been around in this system so it's time for them to step up."
Analysis: Davis and Williams will need to prove to Fantasy owners they can be counted on. Ignore them both on Draft Day since they come into the season behind Justin Gage, Nate Washington and rookie Kenny Britt. But if either steps up, they could be worth adding off the waiver wire.
News: The Nashville City Paper reports Titans WR Chris Davis knows he has to perform well now if he wants to make something from his NFL career. So far, he has done well this offseason. During the team's May and June OTA workouts, Davis has impressed the coaches. It's no secret that the Titans have made a conscious effort to upgrade their WR corps this offseason, having lured Nate Washington away from the Steelers and selecting Rutgers' Kenny Britt with their first-round pick. But Davis will be competing with fellow third-year WR Paul Williams for the final WR spot.
Analysis: Don't worry about Davis on Draft Day in your Fantasy league, but he could be worth keeping an eye on if he makes the team and starts out the season playing well. If that's the case then add him off the waiver wire.
News: The Titans listed the following players as inactive for Week 16 against Pittsburgh: QB Chris Simms (third QB), DL Albert Haynesworth, DL Kyle Vanden Bosch, WR Paul Williams, WR Chris Davis, DB Tyrone Poole, RB Chris Henry and OT Michael Otto.
Analysis: Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch are both out for the regular season. None of the other players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy options. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: The Titans have listed the inactives for their Week 14 game vs. Cleveland. Not in uniform will be: QB Chris Simms (third QB), WR Paul Williams (coach's decision), WR Chris Davis (coach's decision), DB Tyrone Poole (coach's decision), RB Chris Henry (coach's decision) and DE Willian Hayes (coach's decision).
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value, so continue to ignore them in all formats for the foreseeable future.
News: The Titans have listed the following players as being inactive and out for Week 12 against the New York Jets: QB Chris Simms (3rd QB), WR Paul Williams, WR Chris Davis, DB Nick Harper, RB Chris Henry, DL Jason Jones and DL William Hayes.
Analysis: Everyone listed above isn't worth owning in Fantasy play at this time. They do little to contribute even when healthy.
News: The Titans listed QB Chris Simms, WR Chris Davis, WR Justin McCareins, DB Nick Harper, RB Chris Henry and DL Jason Jones among their inactives for Week 11 at Jacksonville.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Tennessee has listed the following players as being inactive and out for Week 10 at Chicago: QB Chris Simms (emergency QB), WR Paul Williams, WR Chris Davis, DB Reynaldo Hill, RB Chris Henry and LB Colin Allred.
Analysis: Everyone listed above isn't worth owning in Fantasy play at this time. They do little to contribute even when healthy.
News: The following Titans players played in Week 7's win over the Chiefs but did not record any stats: WR Paul Williams, QB Vince Young and TE Craig Stevens. Wide receiver Chris Davis did not play in the game but was active.
Analysis: Aside from Vince Young, none of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. And Young probably won't either. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: Notable performers for the Titans in their Week 5 win at Baltimore include: WR Brandon Jones (three catches for 54 yards), WR Chris Davis (10-yard catch) and FB Ahmard Hall (8-yard catch).
Analysis: Jones got the starting nod in this game because Justin Gage was inactive, but he's far from being a regular component of the Tennessee offense. Davis and Hall are just role players as well. Tennessee is on bye in Week 6 and return to action Week 7 at Kansas City. Even with that nice matchup, don't trust any of these Titans on your Fantasy team.
News: Titans RB Quinton Ganther, WR Chris Davis, TE Craig Stevens and backup QB Chris Simms all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 4 vs. Minnesota.
Analysis: Most of these players either see time on special teams or as reserves for the Titans. They have a marginal role on offense and can be ignored in Fantasy. The Titans play the Ravens in Week 5.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis had one catch for 21 yards during a Week 3 win against the Texans. It was his first catch in 2008.
Analysis: Davis, a second-year player from FSU, saw a few extra reps Week 3 with Justin Gage (groin) sidelined. However, he still wasn't a key part of the offense and can be ignored in Fantasy heading into Week 4. The Titans play the Vikings.
News: Titans QB Chris Simms, WR Chris Davis and TE Craig Stevens all dressed for Tennessee's Week 2 win over the Bengals, but didn't record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Simms might be worth having in super-deep leagues just in case Kerry Collins gets hurt, but none of these other guys have any Fantasy value.
News: The following Titans did not record an offensive statistic in Week 1 against Jacksonville: WR Chris Davis, WR Paul Williams, WR Brandon Jones and TE Craig Stevens.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis appeared in 12 games in 2007 and had five catches for 38 yards and two carries for 19 yards. Davis was a reserve for Tennessee and spent time on special teams.
Analysis: Davis has minimal Fantasy value at this time and should not be used in Fantasy leagues in 2008.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis, FB Jeremy Cain, RB Chris Henry, WR Biren Ealy, TE Ben Troupe and backup QB Kerry Collins all dressed for Tennessee's 10-6 win over the New York Jets in Week 16, but didn't record an offensive statistic.
Analysis: Henry has some Fantasy value in keeper leagues, but none of these guys should be starting in Week 17 against the Colts.
News: The following Titans did not record an offensive statistic in Week 15 at Kansas City: QB Kerry Collins, TE Bo Scaife, TE Ben Hartsock, WR Chris Davis, RB Chris Barclay, FB Jeremy Cain, WR Biren Ealy, TE Ben Troupe.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are in a position to help your Fantasy team. Leave them on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Titans inactives for Week 14 vs. the Chargers include: WR Brandon Jones, WR Chris Davis, WR Paul Williams, DB Kelly Herndon, TE Casey Cramer, DL Sean Conover and DL Bryce Fisher.
Analysis: For the Titans, DT Albert Haynesworth is active and expected to start. Calvin Lowry will start in place of FS Chris Hope, who is out for the year. The rest of these inactives aren't worth owning in Fantasy play.
News: The Titans listed the following players as inactive for Week 13 vs. Houston: DB Chris Hopoe (back), WR Paul Williams (coach's decision), WR Chris Davis (coach's decision), DB Kelly Herndon (coach's decision), TE Casey Cramer (coach's decision), DL Sean Conover and DL Travis LaBoy (concussion).
Analysis: None of the players on this list are currently in a situation to help Fantasy owners. Leave them on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis had an 11-yard punt return Week 11 at Denver.
Analysis: Unless he starts catching passes too, Davis has no value in Fantasy. Keep him on waivers for Week 12 at Cincinnati.
News: The Titans listed WR Paul Williams (coach's decision), WR Chris Davis (coach's decision), RB Chris Brown (ankle), DB Kelly Herndon (coach's decision), RB Ahmard Hall (forearm), DL Travis LaBoy (concussion) and DL Albert Haynesworth as inactive (hamstring) for Week 10 vs. Jacksonville.
Analysis: None of the players on this list should be in your Fantasy lineup in Week 10. Keep them reserved until further notice.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis, WR Eric Moulds, TE Ben Troupe and third QB Kerry Collins all dressed for the 20-7 Week 9 victory over the Panthers, but didn't record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Moulds has minimal Fantasy value, as do Troupe and Collins as backups, while Davis and Moulds have no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Notable Titans from Week 8 who were active and dressed but didn't record an offensive stat include: TE Ben Hartsock, WR Chris Davis, RB Quinton Ganther, FB Casey Cramer, TE Ben Troupe and backup QB Kerry Collins.
Analysis: None of these players should be considered reliable Fantasy options in any given week. The Titans host the Panthers in Week 9.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis caught a 13-yard pass at Houston in Week 7. He also worked on special teams.
Analysis: Davis isn't a reliable Fantasy option based on his limited statistics. Don't reach for him in Fantasy play. The Titans host the Raiders in Week 8.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis returned three punts for 16 yards Week 6 at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Davis has caught only four passes for 25 yards this season, so keep him on the waiver wire Week 7 at the Texans.
News: Titans WR Chris Davis returned three punts for 32 yards Week 5 against the Falcons. However, he fumbled one on a costly turnover in the third quarter. He also ran once for 14 yards.
Analysis: Davis has caught only four passes for 25 yards this season, so keep him on the waiver wire Week 6 at the Buccaneers.
News: WR/PR Chris Davis, WR Justin Gage, FB Ahmard Hall and TE Ben Troupe each played in Week 3 at New Orleans, but they did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worthy of Fantasy consideration in Week 5 against the Falcons, once the team returns from its bye week.
News: The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that the Titans started the season rotating five receivers in and out of the game and may continue to do so. That's not the best news for any one receiver on the Titans, but it's clear that the team is looking for a No. 1 receiver. "You saw the game that Roydell had last week and the game that (Jones) had," said Eric Moulds, who was once a No. 1 WR in Buffalo. "You're seeing guys start to step up and make plays, and I think what the Titans want to do is find that guy that Vince feels comfortable with. ... Not to say that the quarterback doesn't throw to other receivers, but the point is that when a quarterback gets in trouble, he's going to favor one guy. Drew Bledsoe did it with me in Buffalo. When it was fourth-and-16, everybody in the stadium knew that he was throwing me the football."
Analysis: Roydell Williams appears to be the Titans' best candidate to be their No. 1 receiver, but we could probably speculate on this on a week-to-week basis. We like Williams as a reserve Fantasy WR right now, which is more than we can say for the other four Titans wideouts: Brandon Jones, Eric Moulds, Justin Gage and rookie Chris Davis. Williams is at best a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR when the Saints host the Titans in Week 3; the others shouldn't be starting in any league.
News: Notable Titans contributors for Week 2 vs. Indianapolis include: Rookie WR Chris Davis (17 receiving yards, five rush yards, fumble lost), WR Eric Moulds (18 receiving yards) and WR Justin Gage (10 receiving yards).
Analysis: None of these players should be considered for standard Fantasy use when the Titans play at New Orleans on Monday night in Week 3 action.
News: Notable Titans contributors for Week 1 at Jacksonville include: Rookie WR Chris Davis (eight-yard catch) and FB Ahmard Hall (six-yard catch).
Analysis: Neither player should be considered for standard Fantasy use in Week 2 at Indianapolis.
News: The Tennessean reports that camp broke this week with no new answers on who will start and who will back up at receiver for the Titans. The paper cited Eric Moulds (who signed at the start of training camp) as the most consistent and Brandon Jones as the most improved. They also noted that Roydell Williams and Courtney Roby haven't made the jump that the team was counting on (Williams has missed several practices) while new WR Justin Gage will have a hard time just to make the team. Among the rookies, Chris Davis has done well compared to Paul Williams, and undrafted player Biren Ealy has caught the coaches' eyes and may beat out Joel Filani for a roster spot.
Analysis: Ultimately, the Titans are still trying to figure out their WR depth chart. Expect Moulds and Jones to start with Roydell Williams, Roby and Davis to be prominent backups. Fantasywise, only Moulds and Jones are worth a look as low-end reserve Fantasy wideouts. Roydell Williams, Roby and Davis are worth a late-round look in the deepest of keeper leagues, and Davis and Paul Williams are late-round options in rookie-only drafts.
News: The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with WR Chris Davis on Tuesday. Davis was their fourth-round pick and he could contribute early after starting 22 of 51 games at Florida State, where he caught 137 passes for 1,842 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Analysis: Davis could be an impact player down the road with the Titans having a lack of quality receivers on the roster. He's not worth drafting in seasonal leagues, but in deep dynasty leagues he could be worth a late flier.
News: Aside from top picks FS Michael Griffin and RB Chris Henry, the Titans' 2007 draft class includes: Fresno State WR Paul Williams, N.C. State C Leroy Harris, FSU WR Chris Davis, Mississippi State DT Antonio Johnson, Texas Tech WR Joel Filani, Central Arkansas DE Jacob Ford, Florida CB Ryan Smith and Purdue OT Michael Otto.
Analysis: Williams is an interesting talent -- he can play both CB and WR but is probably best suited to be a wideout in Tennessee. He has a lot of ability but needs some coaching. Consider him a project-type worth a middle- to late-round pick in dynasty rookie drafts. Davis will contribute on special teams while Filani is a hands receiver who can move the chains. The rest of the players will provide team depth this season but aren't worth a look in Fantasy play.
