News: The Titans have re-signed defensive end Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Dawson got off to a promising start with the Titans in the preseason before hurting his hamstring and ending up on injured reserve in early September.
News: The Titans placed defensive lineman Keyunta Dawson on injured reserve Wednesday because of hamstring injury.
Analysis: Dawson was just a backup defensive end for Tennessee. He had just three tackles and no sacks in three games.
News: The Lions released DL Keyunta Dawson on Thursday and brought back cornerback Brandon McDonald, who was released Dec. 9 by Detroit.
Analysis: Dawson played in two games with the Lions while the team needed some depth along the defensive line. Now that the team is getting back to full strength, Dawson became expendable. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy.
News: Detroit signed DL Keyunta Dawson to the active roster Wednesday.
Analysis: Dawson was signed under the roster exemption that allows Detroit to carry 54 active players during Ndamukong Suh's suspension. Dawson spent training camp with Detroit before being released on roster deadline day. He is merely DL depth until Suh returns, so continue to ignore him in Fantasy.
News: Colts K Matt Stover, DB Jerraud Powers, LB Clint Session, WR Pierre Garcon, DL Robert Mathis and DL Keyunta Dawson have all been ruled inactive for Week 16 vs. N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: The Colts are resting a few of their key players as they gear up for the playoffs. Session, Mathis and Garcon are all battling injuries, so Indy will keep them sidelined for Week 16. They are viable Fantasy options when active. Stover lost his starting job at kicker now that Adam Vinatieri has recovered from a knee injury. He will only return to action, if Vinatieri struggles or re-injures himself. Make sure to keep all these players reserved for Week 16.
News: Colts DL Keyunta Dawson injured his knee in the second quarter Week 15 at Jacksonville and did not return.
Analysis: Dawson doesn't get enough playing time to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers in IDP leagues.
News: The Colts listed the following players as inactive for Week 12 at Houston: DL Dwight Freeney, QB Jim Sorgi, K Adam Vinatieri, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Aaron Francisco, DL Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Freeney, Vinatieri and Gonzalez have been dealing with lingering injuries all season and have not been much help in Fantasy. None of the other players listed have any Fantasy appeal. Leave them reserved in all formats.
News: Colts DE Keyunta Dawson (knee) and DB Aaron Francisco (ankle) have been ruled out of the team's Week 12 game at Houston.
Analysis: Neither of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: The Colts incorrectly listed DE Keyunta Dawson as inactive for Week 2's Monday night game at Miami. Dawson is active. DT Fili Moala (knee) still isn't ready yet.
Analysis: Dawson has minimal Fantasy value and is not recommended for use in most leagues. Keep him on waivers for Week 3 at Arizona.
News: The Colts inactives for Week 2 at Miami include QB Curtis Painter (third QB), DB Jerraud Powers, DB Jamie Silva, TE Tom Santi and DE Kenyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Keep all of these players reserved for Week 2. When active, they have minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in most leagues.
News: DE Dwight Freeney, DE Robert Mathis and DT Keyunta Dawson did not practice Wednesday for a reason that was not injury related.
Analysis: Freeney was a question mark last week and should also be one this week as the Colts will likely sit most of their starters for at least the majority of the Colts' Week 17 matchup against the Titans. All of these players are at risk of not playing this week.
News: The Colts have listed the following players as being inactive for Week 15 against the Detroit Lions in Indianapolis: DB Bob Sanders, LB Tyjuan Hagler, LB Gary Brackett, LB Rufus Alexander, DL Eric Foster, WR Pierre Garcon and DL Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Sanders is a high-end Fantasy DB worth using in any week when he's healthy, unfortunately he's been dealing with the injury bug this season. The rest of the players mentioned above have little to no Fantasy value at this time and can be left on waivers for Week 15 against the Lions.
News: The Colts have listed the following players as being inactive for Week 14 against the Bengals: LB Tyjuan Hagler, LB Gary Brackett, LB Rufus Alexander, TE Jamie Petrowski, WR Roy Hall, DL Curtis Johnson and DL Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Brackett was a decent LB in Fantasy before the injury, but now can be benched or cut in IDP leagues. None of the rest of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them on waivers.
News: The Colts DST had one fumble recovery and two sacks Sunday at San Diego. Raheem Brock recovered the fumble, and Robert Mathis had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Keyunta Dawson had one kickoff return for 11 yards, Chad Simpson had four kickoff returns for 96 yards and Keiwan Ratliff had one punt return for 3 yards.
Analysis: The Colts DST has minimal Fantasy value, especially when Bob Sanders (knee) is out. Don't plan on using the Colts DST in Week 13 at Cleveland. Consider the Colts a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: The Colts DST had one fumble recovery and two sacks Sunday at San Diego. Raheem Brock recovered the fumble, and Robert Mathis had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Keyunta Dawson had one kickoff return for 11 yards, Chad Simpson had four kickoff returns for 24 yards and Keiwan Ratliff had one punt return for 3 yards.
Analysis: The Colts DST has minimal Fantasy value, especially when Bob Sanders (knee) is out. Don't plan on using the Colts DST in Week 13 at Cleveland. Consider the Colts a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Colts DL Keyunta Dawson was able to play in Week 3 vs. Jacksonville after being listed as probable all week.
Analysis: Dawson is not going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave him on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. He's got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested early Wednesday on a drug possession charge. Colts president Bill Polian said the team was still gathering facts about the case before determining how it will discipline Johnson, but Johnson will not play Sunday at Minnesota. "He will not play this week, for sure," coach Tony Dungy said. One option for Dungy is moving 274-pound defensive end Raheem Brock inside, where he was the starter last season. Second-year player Keyunta Dawson is the other starter. They also could use their most experienced tackle, Darrell Reid, in the lineup. The only other tackles on the active roster are Eric Foster, an undrafted rookie, and Daniel Muir, who was claimed off waivers last week from Green Bay.
Analysis: Whatever the Colts opt to do, none of these players will be viable Fantasy options for Week 2. Continue to look elsewhere in IDP leagues for help.
News: Aside from first-round pick WR Anthony Gonzalez, the Colts' 2007 draft class includes: Arkansas OG Tony Ugoh, Cal CB Daymeion Hughes, Ohio State DT Quinn Pitcock, Troy FS Brannon Condren, Pitt LB Clint Session, Ohio State WR Roy Hall, Alabama State CB Michael Coe and Texas Tech DE Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Ugoh will provide excellent depth for the Colts' O-line (good news for Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai). Hughes is a smallish cornerback who could fit in as a fourth option for the Colts as a rookie and was a decorated rookie at Cal. Pitcock was a personal favorite of ours as a football player, not as a Fantasy option. And consider Hall a deep sleeper who was buried on the Buckeyes' depth chart behind Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez. He could turn out to be a situational wideout for the Colts. The rest of the draft class will provide depth and special-teams assistance.
