Leg injury sidelines Thomas DeCoud

(7/28/2014) Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Monday that safety Thomas DeCoud aggravated an old leg injury and did not practice, The Associated Press reported. No timetable was given as to his return.

(4/11/2014) The Panthers agreed to sign free agent defensive back Thomas DeCoud to a two-year deal Thursday, the team announced.

The deal will pay the former Falcon $3.75 million if he meets all incentives, and includes a $500,000 signing bonus. DeCoud is coming off a season in which he racked up 65 tackles in 15 games, but failed to record an interception for the first time in five seasons.

(4/3/2014) Free agent safety Thomas DeCoud will visit the Panthers on Monday, reports NFL Network. Atlanta released DeCoud after he made 65 tackles and no interceptions in 15 games last season.

However, DeCoud intercepted 10 passes over the previous two seasons.

The 28-year-old is coming off a 65-tackle season, his lowest total since he was a rookie in 2008. He also failed to intercept a pass, after racking up 10 in his previous two seasons.

(12/23/2013) A few Falcons who were on the injury report have been cleared for Monday's game in San Francisco, including safety Thomas DeCoud (concussion) and running back Antone Smith (knee). DeCoud was listed as probable, Smith as questionable.

Falcons coach updates status on two injured players

(12/9/2013) Falcons coach Mike Smith provided updates Monday on the status of Antone Smith (knee) and cornerback Thomas DeCoud, who left Sunday's game at Green Bay due to injuries.

Mike Smith said Antone Smith injured his knee on a special teams play Sunday and will be day to day leading up to Week 15 vs. Washington. However, he is expected to participate in practice.

Mike Smith also said DeCoud will have to go through the NFL protocol for concussions before returning to action.

(12/8/2013) Falcons defensive back Thomas DeCoud suffered a head injury on a touchdown run by the Packers' Eddie Lacy in the first quarter Week 14 at Green Bay and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Zeke Motta took his place in the lineup. DeCoud had two tackles, including one solo, before leaving.

DeCoud, who ranked among the league leaders with six interceptions last year, has zero in 2013.

(10/20/2013) Falcons defensive back Thomas DeCoud, who hadn't made much of an impact statistically coming into Week 7 against Tampa Bay, recovered a fumble off a William Moore sack on the Buccaneers' first possession and returned it 30 yards for his first career touchdown. He also equaled a season high with seven tackles, including three solo.

(9/30/2013) Falcons defensive back Desmond Trufant and linebacker Joplo Bartu each made six tackles in the loss to the Patriots. Trufant had a pass defended, Bartu a tackle for loss.

They tied for second on the team behind linebacker Akeem Dent, who made eight tackles before leaving with an ankle injury. Safety Thomas DeCoud and defensive tackle Corey Peters added five tackles apiece.
