News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen finished his season with a solid performance in Saturdays Divisional round playoff game against the Ravens, despite coming out on the losing end. Dreessen brought in six passes for 46 yards, while being targeted eight times, second-best on the team. He had a long reception of 11 yards in a 38-35, double overtime loss.
Analysis: Dreessen disappointed in his first season with the Broncos, finishing with just 356 yards on 41 catches, with five touchdowns. While the receptions were career-best, the rest of his performance was pretty underwhelming, given the presence of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. Dreessen split time at the tight end position, which obviously limited what he was able to do. He should be targeted in just the deepest of Fantasy formats on Draft Day next season.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen did not have much of an impact in Week 17 against the Chiefs. He finished with two catches for 15 yards in the 38-3 win. Dreessen was targeted three times in the victory.
Analysis: Dreessen got off to a productive start this season with three touchdowns in the first five games but scored just twice over the final 11 contests. The emergence of Jacob Tamme also cut into his production. While Dreessen is always a threat to score, plan on ignoring him in all but the deepest of Fantasy playoff formats.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen has averaged just under 30 yards receiving in the last three games and could be in for another quiet performance in Week 17 against the Chiefs. Kansas City ranks ninth in the league in pass defense, giving up under 215 yards per contest, and has allowed an average of 6.4 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Dreessen caught just two passes for 3 yards when he faced Kansas City in Week 12 and has fallen behind Jacob Tamme in Denver. While he is always a threat to find the end zone and the Chiefs have surrendered six touchdowns to tight ends on the year, consider the 30-year-old as more of a low-end Fantasy option for Week 17.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen was not much of a factor in Week 16 against the Browns. Dreessen hauled in just three catches for 22 yards in the 31-12 win and was unable to get into the end zone. He had a long of 13 yards and was targeted four times by Peyton Manning.
Analysis: Dreessen turned in another underwhelming performance Sunday afternoon, which has been a recurring theme of late. He has only hauled in 18 receptions for 150 yards over his last seven games and has found the end zone only once over that stretch. Dreessen continues to split time with Jacob Tamme at this position and should only be active in deeper formats heading into Week 17 against the Chiefs.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen looks to have a tough matchup on tap in Week 16 against the Browns. Cleveland enters the contest allowing an average of 247 passing yards per game. The Browns have surrendered 21 touchdowns through the air while yielding an average of 5.3 Fantasy points to opposing TEs, which is the fewest among all 32 teams.
Analysis: Dreessen continues to split time with Jacob Tamme at this position, which makes it tough for him to get his numbers most weeks. While the 30-year-old has had more than a few productive performances, he has also had more than his fare share of stinkers. The Browns have been surprisingly stingy at defending opposing TEs this season and have only surrendered three scores to the position all season. Fantasy owners should not consider Dreessen a reliable start this week.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen caught two passes for 36 yards in Sunday's 34-17 win over the Ravens. He was targeted three times.
Analysis: Dreessen failed to capture any momentum from his nine-point game in Week 14. The only good that a Dreessen owner could pull from this performance was that fellow tight end Jacob Tamme -- who didn't even see a target -- had a much more disappointing game. Dreessen can be left on the waiver wire in most formats.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen caught his fifth touchdown pass of the season in Week 14 against the Raiders. It was his first score since Week 9 and his five receptions were more than the two previous weeks combined.
Analysis: Dreessen had zero catches in Week 13. Jacob Tamme had all but assumed "TE No. 1" status. And then Week 14 comes along, and it's like Dreessen had never left. He has nine red zone targets on the year against Tamme's five. And while two of his five touchdowns this season have been against Oakland, all five have come against AFC opponents -- so the Ravens are a welcome sight. Still, even in very deep leagues, Dreessen is a wildly erratic tight end whose essence is captured in the last three weeks: one game of nine points and two games with zero points. Dreessen is best left to the wire in most formats.
News: After being held without a catch his last time out, Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen bounced back by scoring his fifth touchdown of the season during Thursday's contest against the Raiders in Week 14. Peyton Manning found Dreessen in the end zone for a short 6-yard strike early in the first quarter. He caught all of his five targeted passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in a 26-13 victory. Jacob Tamme was held to just 24 yards on two catches.
Analysis: Just when you thought that Tamme had re-emerged as Manning's preferred tight end, Dreessen steps up with another big game. It was Dreessen's first touchdown grab since Week 9 against the Bengals. He has just 283 yards with five touchdowns on the year, compared to Tamme's 473 yards and touchdowns. Dreessen has been extremely inconsistent this season, but somehow remains a scoring threat in the red-zone. He'll try to stay in the end zone at Baltimore in Week 15. The Ravens have allowed just two touchdowns this season to tight ends. Fantasy owners should view the 30-year-old as a low-end option in deeper formats heading into Week 15.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen was held without a catch for the second time this season during Denver's 31-23 victory over Tampa Bay in Week 13. Dreessen collected only two targets from quarterback Peyton Manning as he continues to receive a diminished role in the team's offense. Since recording 38 yards at Cincinnati in Week 9, his yardage totals have decreased in each of the following four games.
Analysis: Dreessen served as a quality scoring threat for the Broncos earlier this season, but it appears Jacob Tamme has emerged as Manning's preferred tight end target. Tamme, Manning's former teammate with Indianapolis, finished with a game-high nine receptions for 89 yards on 13 targets. Dreessen also has to contend with the team's other wide receivers for targets and is not a reliable Fantasy option at this point in the season.
News: Denver tight end Joel Dreessen had never gone more than two games without a touchdown as he's racked up four scores in his first campaign with the Broncos. However, that scoreless stretch reached a new season high last Sunday when he was held out of the end zone for the third consecutive game in a win over Kansas City. He will attempt to halt that streak during Week 13 against Tampa Bay, which ranks last in the NFL at defending the pass and is surrendering 315.5 yards per game through the air this season.
Analysis: After registering four touchdowns since fellow tight end Jacob Tamme posted his last score, Dreessen watched his teammate haul in a touchdown last Sunday while his scoreless streak carried on. The two will likely continue battling for targets, but Tamme had the edge last Sunday (four to two). Opposing tight ends have had success against Tampa Bay this season and are averaging 7.7 Fantasy points per game. If there was one tight end to start from the Broncos roster, it appears the answer is Tamme for Week 13.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen tallied two catches for three yards during Denver's 17-9 win over Kansas City in Week 12. Dreessen, who was targeted only three times by quarterback Peyton Manning, was held to his lowest yardage total of the season (minimum one catch).
Analysis: Not only did Dreessen finished with less than 10 yards for the second time this season, but he also watched fellow tight end Jacob Tamme haul in one of two touchdown passes thrown by Manning. The 30-year-old had scored four touchdowns since Tamme's last score, but was held in check Sunday. Dreessen will continue to share targets with Tamme and both should be viewed as low-end Fantasy option for Week 13 against Tampa Bay.
News: Denver tight end Joel Dreessen may lead the team at the position with four touchdowns, but his yardage totals continue to be lackluster. Dreessen will attempt to surpass 40 yards for the first time in five games during a Week 12 matchup at Kansas City. The Chiefs have been tough against the pass and are surrendering an average of just 214.6 passing yards per game -- the sixth-lowest total in the NFL -- and 6.4 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Dreessen's season high for yards this season is 57 yards against San Diego in Week 6, which also represented the only time he has eclipse the 50-yard mark. He continues to share looks with fellow tight end Jacob Tamme, though he has netted more touchdowns than the veteran (four to one). It's tough to determine which player quarterback Peyton Manning will favor on a weekly basis, though Dreessen seems to have the edge near the end zone. Consider him a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats for Week 12.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen was not much of a factor in Week 11 against the Chargers. Dreessen hauled in four receptions for 28 yards in the 30-23 win but was unable to get into the end zone. He had a long of 11 yards and was targeted six times by Peyton Manning.
Analysis: Dreessen continues to split snaps with Jacob Tamme at tight end, albeit the 27-year-old usually sees most of the snaps in the red zone. While Dreessen has been one of Manning's favorite targets down near the end zone, if he doesn't end up scoring his numbers usually look similar to how they did against the Chargers. Consider him more of a low-end option when the Broncos take on the Chiefs in Week 12.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen will be looking to turn in a repeat performance in Week 11 against the Chargers. Dreessen hauled in a season-high six receptions for 57 yards in the team's lone meeting earlier this season. San Diego enters the contest allowing an average of 234 passing yards per game. The Chargers have surrendered 16 touchdowns through the air while yielding an average of 5.3 Fantasy points to opposing TEs on the year.
Analysis: Dreessen has been one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets in the red zone this season as his four TD receptions have him tied with Demaryius Thomas and Brandon Stokley for second most on the team. However, the Broncos have a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the ball -- including Jacob Tamme -- which makes his production tough to predict on a weekly basis. He also looks to have somewhat of a tough matchup on tap as the Chargers have only surrendered two scores to opposing TEs thus far. Consider Dreessen more of a low-end option in most formats in Week 11.
News: Denver tight end Joel Dreessen caught just two passes in the Week 10 win at Carolina Sunday. Dreessen, who was targeted three times by quarterback Peyton Manning in the game, went for 31 yards. He had a long reception of 22 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen did not come down with a touchdown catch against the Panthers on Sunday but was still decently targeted by Manning in the passing game. Dreessen will continue to be a touchdown threat on a weekly basis but he is tough to predict, especially with Jacob Tamme also getting catches for Manning. Dreessen should only be considered a low-end start for Week 11 against the Chargers.
News: Denver tight end Joel Dreessen heads into Week 10 at Carolina looking to start another touchdown streak. Dreessen returned to the end zone last week at Cincinnati after missing out Weeks 6 and 8 with a bye week in between. Dreessen had scored in three straight games prior to that and since 2011 is tied for second among AFC tight ends with 10 touchdown grabs.
Analysis: Dreessen will face a Panthers team allowing the 13th-most Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. They have given up three touchdowns to the position but the last came back in Week 8 and they have only allowed one in the last five weeks. Dreessen could struggle Week 10 and should only be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE for the game.
News: After being held without a catch his last time out, Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen reached the end zone for just the fourth time this season against the Bengals in Week 9. Peyton Manning connected with him in the end zone for a short 1-yard strike in the fourth quarter as he outplayed his fellow tight end Jacob Tamme in a 31-23. Dreessen caught all four of his targeted passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, while Tamme finished with just three catches for 18 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen continues to steal a good chunk of red-zone targets away from Tamme this season as he has emerged as decent scoring threat. He has caught 21 passes for 191 yards and four touchdowns through the halfway point of the regular season. Dreessen has made the best out of his opportunity and will try to get back in the end zone for the second straight game against the Panthers in Week 10. The Panthers have allowed just 71 yards combined against Washington's tight ends in Week 9. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a low-end starting option heading to Week 10.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen will try to shake off his worst performance of the season as he heads into Week 9 on the road against the Bengals. Dreessen was targeted twice but could not come down with a reception in Week 8 against the Saints. He'll face a Cincinnati defense that has permitted three touchdowns in their last four games against opposing tight ends. Dreesen will be looking to reach the end zone for the fourth time in his last six games.
Analysis: Dreessen was expected to emerge as one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets at tight end and instead, his production took a hit last week with only two targets and no catches. He should be primed for a bounce-back game against a weak against a weak Cincinnati secondary that has allowed 9.7 Fantasy points per game against opposing tight ends this season. The Bengals have allowed 11 catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns in their previous to games against opposing tight ends. Fantasy owners should view the 30-year-old as a low-end starting option in deeper formats heading into Week 9.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen endured one of his worst performances in his career and did not make an impact during Sunday night's contest against the Saints in Week 8. Dreessen was targeted twice but could not come down with a reception in a 34-14 victory. Virgil Green (44 yards) and Jacob Tamme (33 yards) led the team in receptions among tight ends in the win.
Analysis: Dreessen has been emerging as one of Peyton Manning's top targets this season but was invisible during Sunday's game. Manning instead, gave the third-string tight end Virgil Green some targets and wound up with a decent game. Manning has done a great job distributing the ball around his receivers, which has taken a toll on Dreessen's Fantasy value, especially on Sunday. He should be primed for a bounce-back performance against a Cincinnati defense that has permitted 9.7 Fantasy points per game against opposing tight ends this season. Fantasy owners should view the 27-year-old as viable option in deeper formats heading into Week 9 at Cincinnati.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen will be looking to reach the end zone for the fourth time in his last five games as he heads into Week 8 with a tough matchup against the Saints at home. Dreessen, who has seen an increase in his production, will face a Saints' defense that permitted their first touchdown of the season against the Buccaneers in Week 7. He racked up a season-high 57 yards on six catches against the Chargers his last time out in Week 6.
Analysis: Dreessen has been taking some of Jacob Tamme's red-zone targets thus far and has caught two of his three touchdowns inside the 20-yard line. Peyton Manning has done a solid job spreading the ball around between the two tight ends and it seems as if Dreessen is starting to emerge as his favorite target. Dreessen has caught 10 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown in his last two games, while Tamme has hauled in eight for 77 yards during that same stretch. He has scored at least nine Fantasy points or more in his last four weeks. The Saints have allowed 305 passing yards per game but has buckled down against tight ends, yielding just five Fantasy points per game through six games. That said, the 30-year-old could hold some decent value as a bye-week replacement and should be viewed as a low-end starting option heading into Week 8.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen had his three-game touchdown streak in Week 6 against the Chargers but still had a productive night. He caught six passes for 57 yards in the 35-24 win. After posting just 8 yards on two grabs through the first two quarters, he came alive in the second half to finish second on Denver in receiving behind wideout Eric Decker (98 yards). Dreessen was targeted seven times in the victory.
Analysis: Dreessen has seen his ownership in CBSSports.com leagues go up in recent weeks and that trend will likely continue after another productive performance on Monday night. He appears to have surpassed Jacob Tamme as the tight-end of choice for quarterback Peyton Manning and now has 17 catches for 153 yards and his three touchdowns on the year. The Broncos head into a bye week but owners in need of some help at tight end should consider adding Dreessen for Week 8 against the Saints.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen has managed to be productive this season, despite averaging fewer than three catches and 20 yards per game heading into Week 6 against San Diego. That is because he has caught a touchdown pass in three game in a row, emerging as one of Peyton Mannings go-to targets in the red zone. We will see if he can keep that up in against the Chargers Monday night.
Analysis: The Chargers have been very good against tight ends this season, allowing just one tight end to find the end zone through five games. They held Jimmy Graham to just one catch for 4 yards in Week 5. Dreessen does not see many targets, so most of his value lies in finding the end zone. Consider him a risky low-end Fantasy option in most formats for Week 6.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen entered Week 5 against the Patriots having found the end zone in each of the previous two games. He extended that streak as he finished with four catches for 21 yards and a touchdown in the 31-21 loss. He hauled in a 1-yard scoring strike from quarterback Peyton Manning in the second quarter. Dreessen, who was targeted four times, had a long reception of 9 and averaged 5.3 yards per grab in the defeat.
Analysis: Dreessen has become a solid red-zone threat for Manning in Denver and finished with more than two catches for the first time this season Sunday. It looks as though his role on offense is proving and the 30-year-old might be worth adding in deeper Fantasy formats. Consider Dreessen a low-end Fantasy tight end for Week 6 against the Chargers.
News: Denver tight end Joel Dreessen had two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown during the Broncos' 37-6 win over Oakland in Week 4. Dreessen hauled in an impressive 22-yard touchdown pass in between a pair of defenders during the first quarter to give Denver its first score of the game. It was also the second straight game he has scored a touchdown as Jacob Tamme has was held out of the end zone for the third straight game.
Analysis: Dreessen earned three fewer targets than Tamme (6-3), but one of his looks came in the end zone as he showed good hands in grasping a fired pass from Manning to open the scoring. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear there are enough receptions to go around for Dreessen as Tamme is Manning's preferred overall target. Fantasy owners should view the 30-year-old as a low-end option in deeper formats at this point.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen had a quiet performance during Sunday's contest against the Texans at home in Week 3. Dreessen was only targeted five times by Peyton Manning, but managed to outperform starting tight end Jacob Tamme in a 31-25 defeat. Dreessen caught two of the five passes thrown his way for 36 yards receiving while Tamme was targeted 10 times and finished with three catches for 31 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen played pretty well for a backup tight end, but because him and Tamme will probably share a bit of the load, we don't expect Dreessen to make much of an impact as the season progresses. He has five receptions for 58 yards through three games this season and has yet to reach the end zone. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end reserve option heading into Week 4 against the Raiders.
News: Broncos tight end Joel Dreessen was not much of a factor in Week 2 against the Falcons. Dreessen finished with just two receptions for 16 yards in the 27-21 defeat. He was targeted twice in the loss while fellow tight end Jacob Tamme finished with two receptions for 13 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen has not been much of a factor in the passing game over the first two games of the season, but that was to be expected. The 30-year-old is serving as Denver's No. 2 TE in most packages, which require him to stay in and block most plays. While he could end up finding the end zone a few times, Dreessen will likely not produce enough week-in and week-out to to considered anything more than a low-end Fantasy reserve. Continue to view him as such when the Texans head to town in Week 3.
News: The Broncos official team website reports that tight ends Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreessen are shaping up to be a major part of the new-look offense in Denver. After six days of training camp practices, the Broncos have showcased several variations of a two tight end formation that features Tamme and Dreessen in different spots on the field. Joel and I are working our tails off to see what we can do to help the team, Tamme said. Weve got a lot of weapons offensively; we just need to come out every day and get better. Different games will probably feature and involve different things. Were not really concerned about all that. Were just trying to get out here and see what we can do. Quarterback Peyton Manning is clearly getting comfortable with the pair of tight ends, as theyve been two of his most targeted receivers in team drills and seven-on-sevens.
Analysis: Dreessen joined the Broncos coming off one of his best seasons. In 2011, the Colorado State alum led the Houston Texans with six touchdown catches a career high. Hes been doing it for a long time, and hes coming off a couple of really good years with Houston, Tamme said. We both do a lot of things pretty similar. He can get out and run, hes a good blocker and hes got a lot of experience. Dreessen can be a sneaky Fantasy option this year if he gets enough targets in what should be a loaded offense. We consider Dreessen a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option, and he could be a great addition off the waiver wire during the year.
News: Tight end Joel Dreessen has signed with the Broncos. The free agent also considered re-signing with the Texans but chose the opportunity to play with Peyton Manning. He'll likely split time with Jacob Tamme, who also signed with the Broncos. Dreessen caught a career-best six touchdowns last season with 353 yards on 28 catches. The year prior he saw extensive playing time and caught 36 passes for 518 yards and four scores.
Analysis: Dreessen is versatile -- he can block, he can catch and he's got pretty good size (6-foot-4, 245 pounds) to go along with it. But with Tamme expected to snare a bigger role and already having the confidence of Manning, Dreessen will likely continue to be a No. 2 tight end in the NFL. He's not worth drafting outside the deepest of PPR leagues.
News: With Owen Daniels (knee) on the inactives list for Week 17 against the Titans, TE Joel Dreessen will get the start in his place. Dreessen himself had been on the injury report with a knee injury.
Analysis: Now that owners can be certain that Dreessen will get the start in Week 17, he will have some low-end value for the coming week. Consider him as a No. 2 Fantasy TE with Daniels out.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen caught all four passes thrown his way in Week 16 against the Colts. He totaled 38 yards on Thursday night, as he was T.J. Yates' favorite target. Dreessen entered the contest with a knee and wrist issue, but was able to play. Houston lost the game, 19-16.
Analysis: Dreessen was the safety valve for Yates as the team is pretty banged up. As long as Yates is the starter for Houston, Dreessen could get plenty of looks in the final game of the season. But that is too risky for Fantasy owners in championship games. Consider Dreessen more of a No. 2 TE option.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was once again limited at practice on Wednesday as he continues to deal with a knee and wrist injury. That said, the Texans have listed Dreessen as probable to play on Thursday night Week 16 at Indianapolis. Owen Daniels is also probable to play.
Analysis: Dreessen has been dealing with his injuries for a few weeks now, but has yet to miss any time. Most are predicting that trend to continue this week, but owners may want to keep an eye on his status just to make sure. The Colts are allowing an average of 8.1 Fantasy points to opposing TEs this year, so this looks to a favorable matchup for Dreessen. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was limited at practice on Monday as he continues to deal with a knee and wrist injury. Dreessen finished with two receptions for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Dreessen has been dealing with his injuries for a few weeks now, but has yet to miss any time. Most are predicting that trend to continue this week, but owners may want to keep an eye on his status just to make sure. The Colts are allowing an average of 8.1n Fantasy points to opposing TEs this year, so this looks to a favorable matchup for Dreessen. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE, if he is able to play on Thursday night.
News: For the first time in four games, Texans TE Joel Dreessen did not record a touchdown catch. In a Week 15 loss to the Panthers, Dreessen made just two catches for 19 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen's yardage totals of late have been modest, so without a visit to the end zone, he has little to offer Fantasy owners. Going into Week 16, Dreessen remains a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was not among his team's inactives for Week 15 against the Panthers. Dreessen was held out of practice Thursday with a knee injury, but as expected, he will be ready to play.
Analysis: Dreessen is in the midst of a three-game touchdown-scoring streak, so his role as a red zone threat makes him a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues. Now that we know that he is healthy, he can be trusted as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was held out of practice Thursday with a knee injury, but coach Gary Kubiak said Dreessen should play Week 15 against the Panthers.
Analysis: Dreessen has scored a touchdown in three straight games and continues to be a solid red-zone threat for Houston. However, if he doesn't score, then he has very poor Fantasy numbers. That's the risk you take when starting Dreessen, who is more of a desperation Fantasy start. However, if Dreesen does play, bear in mind that his Week 15 opponent, the Panthers, have given up 22 passing touchdowns this year, which is tied for the eighth-highest total in the league.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen continued to make the most of his minimal opportunities Week 14 at Cincinnati, scoring a touchdown for the third consecutive game and the sixth time in nine games. He had three catches for 22 yards, which was the most he has had in either category since Week 5 against the Raiders.
Analysis: Dreessen has only 19 catches all season, so the fact that six have gone for touchdowns is pretty remarkable. Of course, it also shows why he's such a risk in Fantasy. If he scores a touchdown, great. If he doesn't, you get nothing from him. If nothing else, his scoring streak makes him worth a look as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 15 against the Panthers.
News: Texans backup TE Joel Dreessen was on the receiving end of rookie QB T.J. Yates' first career touchdown pass Week 13 against the Falcons, catching a 3-yarder right at the goal line in the second quarter. It was his only catch and only target in the game.
Analysis: Dreessen has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games and now has five touchdowns this season. But that's about all he's capable of doing. He hasn't caught more than two passes in a game since Week 5. As a touchdown-or-bust type, he's just a low-end Fantasy TE.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen only had one catch Sunday at Jacksonville in Week 12, but he made it count for a 20-yard touchdown. It was his lone target of the game. Dreessen scored on a pass from Matt Leinart before he got hurt. Leinart ended up suffering a broken collarbone, and he was replaced by T.J. Yates.
Analysis: Yates will now start for the Texans with Matt Schaub (foot) also out. That doesn't bode well for Dreessen, who is a low-end Fantasy TE in the majority of leagues any way. Ignore Dresseen in Week 13 against Atlanta.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen finished the Week 10 win at Tampa Bay without a catch for just the third time this season. Dreessen was targeted by QB Matt Schaub just once in the game.
Analysis: Dreessen has three touchdowns for the Texans this season and has arguably been a more effective TE than starter Owen Daniels. That said, Dreessen is not a recommended Fantasy option at this time. The Texans do not play in Week 11 and return from bye Week 12 at Jacksonville.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen enters Week 10 at Tampa Bay having been pretty consistent in recent weeks. Dreessen caught five passes for 112 yards and a touchdown Week 5 against Oakland, but has been limited to two catches per game in his last three contests. Dreessen has six catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns over that span as QB Matt Schaub has consistently looked his way in the end zone. Dreessen is the No. 2 TE on the roster for the Texans behind Owen Daniels. Dreessen has played two games against Tampa Bay in his career, but has never made a catch.
Analysis: Fantasy owners who are in dire need of a tight end for Week 10 could consider Dreessen. Dreessen is not a consistent option as he's liable to go without a catch just as easily as he could get into the end zone. That said, he already has three touchdowns on the season for the Texans. The Buccaneers give up plenty of Fantasy points to the tight end position as they are averaging the sixth-most per game on the year. Good pass-catching tight ends play well against the Bucs, but we expect most of the Fantasy points to go to Daniels. Consider Dreessen just a last-resort option in Fantasy play.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen opened the game Week 9 vs. Cleveland with two catches for 27 yards on the first two plays of the 30-12 win. However, he wasn't heard from the rest of the day. Dreessen wasn't even targeted the rest of the game.
Analysis: A big part of the reason Dreessen wasn't targeted the rest of the game was because Houston got out to a big lead and just focused on running the football. You knew coming into Week 9 that if Dreessen didn't score, then he likely wasn't going to have a respectable Fantasy performance. He has played big with Andre Johnson out, but Dreessen still has low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 10 against the Bucs.
News: Texans QB Matt Schaub wasn't hesitant Wednesday to heap praise on TE Joel Dreesseen, who has scored in three of his last four games heading into Week 9 vs. Cleveland. "He's one of the most consistent guys," Schaub said. "What he's asked to do and what you tell him to do, he goes out and executes to the utmost of his ability. He's always going to be in the right spot and do the right thing....he's a workhorse for us."
Analysis: Owen Daniels is still the Texans' starting TE and better Fantasy option, but with Dreessen's recent string of touchdowns, you can consider him a viable bye-week Fantasy replacement. The Browns are allowing TEs to average 8.3 Fantasy points per week and have yielding five touchdowns to TEs this season.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jaguars. It was Dreessen's third touchdown on the season.
Analysis: Dreessen has done a nice job for the Texans and for Fantasy owners as a bye-week replacement. We consider Dreessen a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 9 against the Browns.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen will looking to find the end zone for the third time this season in Week 8 against the Jaguars. Dreessen, who has 10 receptions for 187 yards thus far, hauled in his second score of the year in last week's 41-7 win over the Titans. Jacksonville enters Sunday's contest ranked seventh in pass defense, allowing 196.3 yards per game. The Jaguars have surrendered 10 touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 9.7 Fantasy points to opposing TEs this season.
Analysis: Dreessen is the the No. 2 TE for the Texans and is used mostly as a blocking option. However, he has proved more than capable of turning in an occasional productive performance, although fails to do so on a consistent basis. Still, Dreessen looks to have somewhat of favorable matchup on Sunday, as the Jaguars have struggled to defend TEs this season. Combine that with the fact that Andre Johnson will once again be sidelined and owners can consider Dreessen a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper formats.
News: For the most part, Texans TE Joel Dreessen had a quiet afternoon in Week 7, but he scored the game's first touchdown in a 41-7 rout of the Titans. Dreessen's 10-yard touchdown reception put the Texans up 10-0 in the second quarter, and they quickly built a 20-0 lead that they took into intermission. It was Dreessen's second touchdown of the season. Dreessen also made a 21-yard catch in the fourth quarter that took the Texans into Titans' territory and ultimately led to a 5-yard touchdown run by RB Arian Foster.
Analysis: Dreessen is still just two weeks removed from a 112-yard game, and this was his second touchdown in three games. Still, the Texans have a number of reliable targets, even with Andre Johnson out with an injury, so Dreessen can't be counted on to produce in Fantasy from one week to the next. He is a still a low-end No. 2 TE option.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was a non-factor in Week 6 against the Ravens. He did not record a catch in the 29-14 loss. He was targeted just once by QB Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Dreessen went over the century mark with a score in his last game but the Ravens defense did solid job of neutralizing him on Sunday. He should continue to be a factor on offense as long as WR Andre Johnson is out so keep an eye on his progress going forward. But since his production has been inconsistent thus far, continue to view Dreessen as more of a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 7 against the Titans.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen has been ruled active for Week 6 against the Ravens. He was listed on the injury report with a hip injury.
Analysis: Dreessen will look to repeat his performance against the Ravens, but that may be a daunting task for the sixth-year tight end. Baltimore has allowed 212 passing yards per game while yielding a lowly average of 3.0 Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. In addition, Owen Daniels remains the starting tight end for the Texans. Consider Dreessen a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 6 against the Ravens.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen (hip) is listed as probable for Week 6 at Baltimore after being added to the injury report Friday. Dreessen, who notched five receptions for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against Oakland, was a full participant in Friday's practice.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen caught five passes for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown a week ago and will be looking for similar success in Week 6 against the Ravens. Baltimore ranks ninth in the league against the pass, giving up 212 yards per game, and have allowed an average of three Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Dreessen saw a ton of passes thrown his way with WR Andre Johnson out a week ago and will likely see QB Matt Schaub look his way again in Week 6. While Owen Daniels remains to No. 1 TE for Houston, Dreessen showed last season that he can step up when needed. The Ravens have been pretty tough against tight ends so far this season so consider Dreessen as more of a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 6.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen had a monster game in Week 5 against the Raiders. Houston played without the services of star receiver Andre Johnson and QB Matt Schaub relied heavily upon TEs Dreessen and Owen Daniels, as well as RB Arian Foster, in the passing game. Dreessen was targeted nine times by Schaub and came away with five receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown in the game. Dreessen scored on a 56-yard TD pass from Schaub in the second quarter. It was his first touchdown of the season.
Analysis: Dreessen is not usually a central figure in the Houston offense as he entered the Week 5 game with just three catches for 44 yards on the season. Fantasy owners will want to make something out of this huge effort, but we still believe that Daniels is the top tight end in town entering Week 6 at Baltimore. Plus, the Ravens have been very tough on opposing tight ends this season. Coming off a bye, the Ravens have allowed just 3.2 Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. The Ravens have allowed just eight catches for 85 yards and no TDs to the position on the season and that doesn't bode well for Daniels in Week 6, let alone Dreessen. We know he scored against the Raiders, but we still can't recommend Dreessen in Week 6.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had one catch for 14 yards Sunday against the Steelers. Dreessen, the No. 2 TE for Houston behind Owen Daniels, had one target in the game.
Analysis: Dreessen has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues as long as Daniels is healthy. Ignore Dreessen in all leagues for Week 5 against Oakland.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen came down with one catch in the Week 1 win over the Colts, 34-7. Dreessen's one catch went for 21 yards as he was targeted just once in the game.
Analysis: Dreessen might be good for a catch or two per game and he is certain to find the end zone at times this season for the Texans. That said, unless something changes he is behind Owen Daniels on the TE depth chart. Dreessen is just a low-end option not recommended for Week 2 at Miami in Fantasy play.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was relatively quiet in Week 17 against the Jaguars. Dreessen was targeted twice in the 34-17 victory, but finished with just two receptions for 50 yards. He averaged 25 yards a catch and had a long of 41 yards in the contest.
Analysis: Dreessen got some extra playing time this season when Owen Daniels was out with a hamstring injury, but has since returned to his backup role. While he did set a career-high with four touchdown receptions, Dreessen is more of a blocking TE and won't have much Fantasy value heading into 2011.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was not much of a factor in Week 16 against the Broncos. Dreessen was targeted three times in the contest and finished with three receptions for 33 yards in the 24-23 win. He averaged 11 yards per reception and had a long of 15 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen has fallen back into his backup role now that Owen Daniels has returned from his hamstring injury and hasn't been much of a factor over his last three games. Clearly Daniels has taken some of the Fantasy value away from Dreessen of late and backup TEs don't usually see many passes thrown in their direction anyway. We do not recommend starting Dreessen in Week 17 against the Chargers.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen, who has caught a combined four passes for 36 yards over his last two contests, will be looking to play a larger role in Houston's offense in week 16 against the Broncos. Denver enters Sunday's matchup ranked 22nd in pass defense, allowing 227.6 yards per game. The Broncos have surrendered 25 touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 8.0 Fantasy points to opposing TEs on the season.
Analysis: Dreessen has fallen back into his backup role now that Owen Daniels has returned from his hamstring injury. While Dreessen's performance in Week 15 wasn't far off from what he did when Daniels was injured, backup TEs normally don't see a ton of passes thrown in their direction and very rarely produce consistently enough for Fantasy purposes. We do not recommend starting Dreessen against the Broncos.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen, who went without a catch last week in Owen Daniels' first game back from a hamstring injury, was a little more productive Week 15 at Tennessee. He had 36 yards on four receptions, which was as many as Daniels had. Daniels had seven targets, though, compared to Dreessen's five.
Analysis: Dreessen's performance in Week 15 wasn't far off from what he did when Daniels was injured, which suggests he's not just going to fade into Fantasy nothingness now that Daniels is back. Still, rarely are backup tight ends consistent enough for Fantasy purposes, so chances are Dreessen won't be able to do much better than he did in Week 15. You can leave him for deeper leagues when the Texans visit the Broncos in Week 16.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen, who had to deal with a hand injury in practice leading up to the game, is active for Week 15 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Dreessen had a few productive weeks for the Texans, but he's back to a reserve role with Owen Daniels back from a hamstring injury. Dreessen went without a catch in Daniels' return last week and will likely play a minimal role again this week. He's not worth starting in Fantasy.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen technically started against the Ravens last week but quickly ceded his role back to Owen Daniels, who was returning from a hamstring injury. Daniels finished with a season-high 91 yards on five catches. Dreessen didn't record a single catch. Dreessen is dealing with a hand injury right now, but he practiced in full Thursday and should be able to play Week 15 at Tennessee. Still, his reduced role will likely prevent him from taking advantage of a defense that has allowed 7.7 Fantasy points per game to tight ends, seventh-most in the league.
Analysis: Dreessen had a couple good games in relief of Daniels, but his performance last week clearly indicated his role on offense going forward. He's a backup tight end, so you shouldn't expect him to get more than two or three catches per game. He's little more than a last resort in Fantasy.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen got the start in Week 14 against the Ravens, but he did not contribute anything in the 34-28 overtime loss. He was targeted by QB Matt Schaub three times but could not come up with a single grab. Dreessen got the start over Owen Daniels, who had five catches for 91 yards in his return from a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Dreessen had done a solid job filling in for Daniels over the last few weeks, but his time as a solid Fantasy contributor could be coming to an end. On a night in which Schaub attempted a season-high 62 passes, the 28-year-old could not come up with even one reception. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how the Texans plan on using their dueling tight ends but Dreessen doesn't look to be the safest play for Week 15 against the Titans. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE for the matchup with the division for next Sunday.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen (ribs) has officially been ruled active for Week 14 against the Ravens. Dreeseen, who was listed on the injury report with a ribs injury, will start in place of Owen Daniels, who has also been ruled active. The two will likely split reps vs. Baltimore.
Analysis: Dreessen was very productive when Daniels was sidelined and he is likely to still see some targets in the passing game. However, Daniels is going to steal some PT from Dreessen, who probably won't be as effective for Fantasy purposes. The Ravens are actually the best team in the NFL at guarding TEs, so Dreessen is a risky Fantasy start for Week 14.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen (ribs) will start the Monday night game against Baltimore Week 14, despite Owen Daniels being probable to make his return. Dreessen is also probable to play in the game. Daniels will be worked back slowly and will split reps with Dreessen.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen popped up on the injury report Thursday with a ribs injury, but he was full practice and is expected to play Week 14 against the Ravens. However, he is expected to be joined in the TE rotation by Owen Daniels, who has missed several games with a hamstring injury.
News: The Texans official team website reports Monday that TE Owen Daniels (hamstring) returned to practice. Coach Gary Kubiak said he's hoping Daniels can play in Week 14 against Baltimore but that he's "day-to-day" with his hamstring injury. Daniels has missed the past five games, and Joel Dreessen has stepped up with Daniels out.
Analysis: If Daniels does return in Week 14 that would cut into Dreessen's value. Dreessen has been a solid replacement for Daniels, but he would not be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE against the Ravens if Daniels plays in that matchup.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was again in the starting lineup in place of the injured Owen Daniels (hamstring) and he was again productive in the Week 13 loss to the Eagles. He caught five passes for 63 yards from QB Matt Schaub, who targeted him eight times. The two were not on the same page on a few occasion, including a wide-open play down-the-field in which Schaub threw behind Dreessen's out-stretched arms.
Analysis: Dreessen has now racked up at least 60 yards receiving in four game this season while filling in for Daniels. But with him likely to return in Week 14, you have to wonder how Dreessen will play into the team's game plan. In the ten days in between Texans games, monitor the team's TE situation to see if a plan is laid out for the Monday night game against the Ravens. Dreessen has been utilized as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE in recent weeks.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen (knee) has been cleared to play after showing up as probable on the injury report for Week 13 against the Eagles.
Analysis: Dreessen has been playing very well as of late with Owen Daniels sidelined. Daniels is still out against Philly and the Eagles have allowed TEs to score seven times this season, so consider starting Dreessen in Fantasy Week 13.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen (knee) is listed as probable for the Week 13 matchup with the Eagles. He saw limited practice time on Monday, but was able to practice in full participation Tuesday and Wednesday. With Owen Daniels (hamstring) ruled out again, Dreessen gets the start at TE. The Eagles allow the fifth-most Fantasy points to opposing TEs and have given up seven TDs to the position. Jacob Tamme, Vernon Davis and Brandon Pettigrew have all eclipsed the 100-yard mark against them.
Analysis: Dreessen has four touchdowns and a team-best 15.3-yard average on 22 receptions in his limited action as a starter. He's a tough blocker, the best among the three tight ends who are normally active, yet he has a knack for getting open on routes down the field. Against an Eagles defense that losses the TE in space, we like Dreessen as a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into Thursday night.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen (knee) returned to full practice reps on Tuesday as the team prepares for Thursday's showdown (Week 13) against the Eagles. Dreessen was limited on Monday.
Analysis: Dreessen has scored in two straight games and is doing well in the absence of Owen Daniels, who is still iffy to return for Week 13. Dreessen looks as though he will play Week 13, so since the Eagles struggle to cover TEs, it's worth starting him in Fantasy.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was limited in practice on Monday with a knee injury. Dressen caught three passes for 15 yards in Week 11 against the Titans, including a 1-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Analysis: Dreessen has played well for while filling in for the injured Owen Daniels. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status over the next few days to see if he will be able to play on Thursday against the Eagles. Consider him a No. 1 Fantasy TE against the Eagles, if he is able to play.
News:Joel Dreessen only caught three passes for 15 yards on Sunday vs. the Titans, but it was his shortest catch of the day that made the most impact: A one-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Dreessen was targeted five times in the game and was effectively out of the gameplan once the Texans had built a big lead. To wit, he only had one catch in the second half.
Analysis: Dreessen came through for Fantasy owners looking for something from the tight end position, and he might be able to deliver again in Week 13. The Texans will head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles this Thursday, a defense that has allowed six touchdowns to tight ends through their first 10 games. Consider Dreessen good enough to use as a No. 1 Fantasy TE again in his next game.
News: The Texans host the Titans in Week 12, and CBSSports.com ranks TE Joel Dreessen as a top-five Fantasy option for this matchup after his 106-yard outing in Week 11 against the Jets in which he also scored.
Analysis: The Titans have allowed opposing TEs to average 8.7 Fantasy points against them this season, which is the sixth-most in the league. In their last three games, they have given up 365 yards to the position on 19 catches. Tennessee is a lot tougher to run against than pass against, and Houston QB Matt Schaub is our Start of the Week, so there's a good chance Dreessen gets plenty involved on Sunday. Use him in all leagues for Week 12.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen was his team's best receiver in Week 11 against the Jets. With the secondary draped all over star WR Andre Johnson, Dreessen capitalized with the first 100-yard performance of his career. Most of Dreessen's yards came on a 43-yard, catch-and-run touchdown in the fourth quarter. It was his third score of the season, which is a new career high. He caught all four of his targets for 106 yards against the team that drafted him out of Colorado State in 2005.
Analysis: Redemption was all Dreessen's in Week 11. A week after coughing up the football and costing his team a win, Dreessen returned with the best performance of his career. And he did it against one of the best secondaries in the NFL. He is going to continue to benefit with Owen Daniels sidelined, but as soon as Daniels returns, then Dreessen's Fantasy value should plummet. If he starts Week 12 against the Titans, then consider Dreessen a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: With Texans No. 1 TE Owen Daniels (hamstring) ruled out for Sunday, TE Joel Dreessen will again have a chance to produce in the passing game in the Week 11 game against the Jets. He will have a chance to redeem himself after a costly fumble late in the game Week 10 led to a Jacksonville win. Although, making amends on the stat sheet could be difficult for Dreessen. The Jets are allowing TEs to average just six Fantasy points per week. Only three TEs -- Aaron Hernandez, Benjamin Watson and Todd Heap -- have managed more than 30 yards and only three TEs -- Brandon Pettigrew, Anthony Fasano and David Martin -- have scored against the Jets.
Analysis: This will be the third straight start for Dreesen as a result of Daniels' injury problems. However, WR Kevin Walter is expected to benefit from Darrelle Revis covering WR Andre Johnson even though he will have the talented Antonio Cromartie on him. We doubt QB Matt Schaub has lost faith in Dreessen after one fumble, but with the tough matchup, we can't say Dreessen is must-start Fantasy option. Consider him at best a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 11.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen heads back to the field in Week 11 against the Jets after a costly fumble late in the game Week 10 led to a Jacksonville win.
Analysis: Owen Daniels (hamstring) has yet to practice for Houston, so Dreessen will likely make a third straight start in Week 11. However, WR Kevin Walter is expected to benefit from Darrelle Revis covering WR Andre Johnson. We doubt QB Matt Schaub has lost faith in Dreessen after one fumble, but with the tough matchup, we can't say Dreessen is must-start Fantasy option. Consider him at best a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 11.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen started a second straight game for the injured Owen Daniels in Week 10 against the Jaguars, but he ended up doing more damage than good. After picking up an 8-yard gain with 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter that would have given K Neil Rackers a chance to win the game, Dreesseen coughed up the football on a fumble. That set up a game-winning Hail Mary by the Jaguars on the final play of the game. "I thought I had it tucked away good," Dreessen said. "I was going downfield and thought I was squeezing the hell out of it. I think the defender came up from behind to knock it loose.'' He finished with two catches for 24 yards.
Analysis: It was a real shame Dreessen had such a poor performance in Week 10. Jacksonville was allowing TEs to average 8.8 Fantasy points per week, which was tied for fifth highest in the NFL. TEs have scored five times against Jacksonville in 2010. Dreesseen appeared to be a sleeper start at the TE position. Sadly, he was just asleep. The Texans have said Daniels will return when he is healthy, so Dreessen might be needed again in Week 11 against the Jets. But he is nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE, if he has to step in for Daniels.
News: With Owen Daniels (hamstring ) out, the Texans will start TE Joel Dreessen for a second straight game in Week 10 against the Jaguars. Dreessen has just three catches for 26 yards in five career games against the Jaguars, but this year's matchup might be a career best. Jacksonville is allowing TEs to average 8.8 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for fifth highest in the NFL. TEs have scored five times against Jacksonville in 2010.
Analysis: Dreessen was a viable replacement for Daniels in Week 9, totaling five catches for 67 yards. Although, TE James Casey also contributed in Daniels' absence. QB Matt Schaub is in a bit of a slump, but he has a good track record against the Jags and we feel he is due to break out in Week 10. If Daniels is ruled out again, then consider Dreessen a sleeper Fantasy start at the TE position for Week 10.
News: With Owen Daniels still battling a hamstring injury, the Texans will probably have to start TE Joel Dreessen for a second straight game in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen played well Sunday in Week 9 against San Diego. With Owen Daniels (hamstring) out, Dreessen had five catches for 67 yards. He had a team-high eight targets in the game.
Analysis: Dreessen is worth adding in all leagues if Daniels is out for Week 10 at Jacksonville. He is only owned in 1 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com, and Dreessen would be considered a potential starting option if Daniels misses another game. Keep an eye on Daniels, but plan to add Dreessen off the waiver wire.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen has two touchdowns this season with Owen Daniels ailing, and that probability is lining up again in Week 9. The Texans take on the Chargers, who allow the third-most Fantasy points to opposing TEs. Daniels is questionable for the game Sunday.
Analysis: Dreessen could benefit from the same formula in Week 9 against the Chargers. They have allowed five different TEs to find the end zone against them thus far in the 2010 season. We consider Dreessen to be a solid No. 2 Fantasy TE, ideal for replacing a starter during the starters bye week.
News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen, who did not have a catch in the Week 5 game against the Giants, scored a touchdown Week 6 against Kansas City. Dreessen was hit by QB Matt Schaub in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard TD in the second quarter. It was his only catch of the game and also his only target.
Analysis: Dreessen had been seeing more balls come his way with Owen Daniels struggling. That culminated with five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown Week 4 at Oakland. He didn't even see a pass come his way in Week 5, however, and, despite the TD Week 6, Daniels looks to be back at 100 percent. Dreessen does not have any Fantasy value right now. The Texans are on bye in Week 7.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen, who comes off the bench behind starter Owen Daniels, leads the team with a 17-yard average per catch heading into Week 5 against the Giants. He looks to exploit a Giants defense that is allowing just 4.5 Fantasy points per week to TEs, which is eighth lowest total in the NFL. Only one TE -- Dallas Clark -- has managed more than 39 yards against the Giants this season.
Analysis: Dreessen is adept at slipping off the line of scrimmage and getting open over the middle. He has caught 70 percent (7 for 10) of his targets this season, so at least he is cashing in on his opportunities. Daniels has been pretty bad as a receiver in 2010, so Dreessen might have to carry the position until Daniels gets on track. Dreessen is at best a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 5.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had a big game in Week 4 against the Raiders. Dreessen caught five passes for 75 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season in the 31-24 win. Dreessen was on the receiving end of a 11-yard strike from Matt Schaub in the first quarter. He was targeted eight times and averaged 14.6 yards per reception.
Analysis: Dreessen was the Texans leading receiver on Sunday and had one of the better games of his career. Before Fantasy owners run out and pick him up off the waiver wire, keep in mind the Texans were missing three big pieces of their offense. Andre Johnson was inactive with an ankle sprain, Jacoby Jones left with a leg injury and Arian Foster sat out the first 23 minutes due to disciplinary reasons. Dreessen is mainly used as a blocking tight end and came into Week 4 with just two catches for 46 yards. We don't expect him to put up too many performances like Sunday's. At best, Dreessen can be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 5 against the Giants.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had one catch for 18 yards Sunday against Dallas. Dreessen is the No. 2 TE for the Texans behind Owen Daniels.
Analysis: Dreessen has minimal Fantasy value as long as Owen Daniels is healthy even with Daniels struggling so far to start the season. Don't plan on using Dreessen in the majority of leagues in Week 4 at Oakland.
News: Texans backup TE Joel Dreessen took roughly three times less snaps than starter Owen Daniels against the Redskins in Week 2, but coach Gary Kubiak said he was not surprised the Dreessen made a critical play on a 28-yard catch in overtime. We need to keep him involved, Kubiak said.
Analysis: Dressen has made just the one catch this season. Until the Texans start to get him more involved in the offense on a regular basis, he won't be worth owning in Fantasy. Just keep him on your radar for now.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen only had one catch against the Redskins in Week 2, but it was a big one. Dreeseen was on the receiving end of a 28-yard dart from Matt Schaub during overtime that led to the Texans kicking the game-winning field goal.
Analysis: Dreesen is the blocking TE for the Texans and is the backup to Owen Daniels. Unless his role with the team changes, he can be ignored in all Fantasy formats heading into Week 3 against the Cowboys.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen has made a number of spectacular catches this week but said he isn't surprised to be having the best training camp of his career. "That's what I expect out of myself," he said. "Every year you have to find a way to get better." Dreesen, who is running with the first team in the absence of starter Owen Daniels (knee), credits added experience and maturity to his improved play. "I'm just watching more football and understanding the game more. I (know) what to do to get open."
Analysis: With Daniels' availability to start the season up in the air, Dreessen has made the most of the opportunity during OTAs and training camp. He won't play ahead of a healthy Daniels, but if he's forced to miss the early part of the season, Dreessen should be an adequate replacement. However, due to the uncertainty and questions about his potential production, Dreessen can be ignored on Draft Day.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had more catches in 2009 (26), than in his previous three years combined (20). "You see some players start somewhere and after a couple of years (if) something doesn't go right, they take advantage of their second opportunities," coach Gary Kubiak said Friday. "He's proven that."
Analysis: Dreessen could see a boost in value with starting TE Owen Daniels (knee) still dealing with his recovery from last year's ACL injury. Kubiak said Wednesday that Daniels "will not be participating in training camp." Additionally, reserve TE Anthony Hill (knee) will also not be expected to be ready for camp. This opens the door for Dreessen to have increased Fantasy value, but he's still not worth drafting in the majority of leagues. Daniels should be ready by Week 1, which would knock Dreessen down on the depth chart.
News: Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told the official team site Wednesday that TE Owen Daniels "will not be participating in training camp." Additionally, reserve TE Anthony Hill will also not be expected to be ready for camp; both tight ends are recovering from torn ACLs. That leaves a motley crew of veterans Joel Dreessen and Michael Gaines, second-year tight end James Casey and rookie tight end Garrett Graham to compete during camp.
Analysis: We believe Graham's presence will push at least two of the Texans' backup tight ends down the depth chart and another off the roster. Fortunately for Fantasy owners, the likes of Dreessen, Casey and Gaines aren't considered reliable options in the first place. Keep all three of those guys off of rosters for now while Graham is worth a draft choice late in dynasty/keeper leagues and in the middle of rookie-only formats.
News: The Houston Texans chose Wisconsin TE Garrett Graham in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, reuniting him with fellow Wisconsin alum Owen Daniels (the two played together Daniels' senior season). Graham had 51 receptions for 624 yards and seven touchdowns for the Badgers last season and has been compared favorably to Daniels. "We really like this young man," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "... [He] played a lot of good football there at Wisconsin. Owen (Daniels) spoke up for him, so that was good enough for me. So there's an excellent opportunity for him right now with our team, because some of our guys are fixing to miss some time as we go through the offseason."
Analysis: Obviously, Graham's presence will push at least two of the Texans' backup tight ends down the depth chart and another off the roster. Fortunately for Fantasy owners, the likes of Joel Dreessen, James Casey and Anthony Hill aren't considered reliable options in the first place. Keep all three of those guys off of rosters.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown Sunday against New England.
Analysis: Dreessen has played well since taking over for the injured Owen Daniels (knee). Look for Dreessen to play well for the Texans going forward and consider him a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had his best game of the season in a Week 16 win at Miami. He finished with four catches for 65 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen took advantage of a Miami defense that struggles to cover tight ends, but not many Fantasy owner trusted him. Continue to ignore Dreessen in Week 17 vs. New England.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen is listed as probable for Week 16 at the Dolphins. He's dealing with a shoulder problem that had him limited in practice earlier this week.
Analysis: Only if you're desperate in Fantasy play should you consider Dreessen, though he will face a Dolphins defense that has struggled with tight ends. Also, he has six catches over his last two games. He's a desperation choice off waivers at this point.
News: Texans TE Joel Dreessen had three catches for 40 yards Week 15 at St. Louis. He still has no more than three catches in a game, but he set a season high with the 40 yards.
Analysis: Dreessen starts for the Texans these days, but he's no Owen Daniels. If 40 yards is the best he can do, you don't want him in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 at Miami.

News: Houston TE Joel Dreessen has been listed as probable for the team's Week 9 game at Indianapolis. Dreessen was able to practice in full on both Thursday and Friday.
Analysis: Dressen will share the TE duties with rookie Anthony Hill on Sunday against Indy as Owen Daniels is out with a torn ACL. However, Dreessen is not considered a vertical threat by any stretch and will have a hard time duplicating Daniels' production. He is not expected to produce too much this weekend and can only be considered a low-end option.
News: With Texans TE Owen Daniels out for the season and rookie TE James Casey also out of action with a meniscus injury, Houston's tight end play will be limited to Joel Dreessen, who is also their long snapper, and rookie Anthony Hill.
Analysis: Dreessen is not considered a vertical threat by any stretch and will have a hard time duplicating Daniels' production. Hill has minimal upside and has been activated for one game this season with the Texans -- even head coach Gary Kubiak admitted he wasn't sure if Hill is ready to play. Neither one should be considered as a good replacement for Owen Daniels following his season-ending injury.
News: Walking on crutches and with his head hung low, Owen Daniels feared his season might be over after the Houston Texans' star TE hurt his right knee on Sunday. "I'm concerned," Daniels said following a 31-10 victory. "It doesn't feel good." Daniels, who entered the game leading NFL tight ends with 497 yards receiving, said he's scheduled to have tests on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. Coach Gary Kubiak didn't sound optimistic when discussing the player's injury. and the Houston Chronicle reports Daniels could have a torn ACL. "It doesn't look good," Kubiak said. "Obviously, (trainers) feel like he may have done some damage. I better be careful, but it does not look good." Daniels was hurt on Houston's second possession when he was running a route and caught his foot in the turf. He said it's possible a defender might have bumped or grabbed him just as he was making his cut. He went down and lay on the field for several minutes before he was helped up by Texans trainers and unable to put any weight on his right leg.
Analysis: Daniels has 40 catches on the season for 519 yards and five touchdowns. He is among the league's best tight ends in Fantasy play and should be active every week when healthy. The injury also comes at a critical time for the fourth-year player, who is in the final year of his contract. "Yeah, thanks for reminding me," Daniels said, about his contract status. "Worst-case scenario, I'll definitely be ready to go next year." If Daniels is out as expected, Joel Dreessen will move up a spot. Rookie James Casey, who caught the first two passes of his career, will become the second tight end. Rookie Anthony Hill, who was inactive, will be part of the game-day roster because offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan likes to use three tight end formations.

News: The Houston Chronicle reports Texans TE Owen Daniels will skip the remaining OTA workouts this offseason because of a contract dispute. Daniels, who had participated in the first three weeks of OTAs, did not show up to the team's voluntary workout Tuesday. "Obviously we're in the middle of negotiations," GM Rick Smith said. "He's well within in his rights not to be here. We wish he were working out like he had been, but we understand it. Every day he is out here he's getting better. Things like this have a way of working themselves out." Daniels, a fourth-round pick in 20! 06, is a restricted free agent. He has yet to sign the one-year, $2.7 million tender that he was offered.
