News: FOXSports.com reports the Falcons released defensive lineman Ray Edwards on Monday. Edwards posted just nine tackles and zero sacks in nine games this season.
Analysis: Edwards has been a disappointment since coming to Atlanta in 2011 as he recorded just 3.5 sacks in 25 games. He will likely catch on elsewhere but owners in IDP formats should feel free to part ways with the 27-year-old.
News: Atlanta DL Ray Edwards, who has been dealing with a neck issue, was credited with half a sack on Thursday night against Jacksonville. Edwards teamed with John Abraham for a sack on Blaine Gabbert in the Falcons' 41-14 win. He finished with one tackle.
Analysis: Edwards is a key to the defensive unit, but he has just 30 tackles on the year. After Thursday he has 3 1/2 sacks to his credit. Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should view him as a low-end DL option.
News: Atlanta DL Ray Edwards was active for Thursday's showdown with Jacksonville. Edwards has been dealing with a neck problem.
Analysis: Edwards plays an important role in the Falcons' pass rush even if he isn't normally the one getting the sacks. Unfortunately, that's not much consolation to his Fantasy owners. Right now he should be considered a low-end DL option in deeper IDP formats.
News: After going six games without one, Falcons DL Ray Edwards finally recorded his third sack of the season Week 14 at Carolina. He finished with three tackles, including two solo.
Analysis: Edwards plays an important role in the Falcons' pass rush even if he isn't normally the one getting the sacks. Unfortunately, that's not much consolation to his Fantasy owners. He has been a serviceable DL in IDP leagues in the past, but he's just a low-end option this year.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards is active for Week 10 against the Saints after missing some practice time this week with a knee injury. He was initially listed as probable for the contest.
Analysis: Edwards has a couple of sacks this season, but he's not quite the pass rusher that John Abraham is. Treat him as just a low-end option in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards (knee) is listed as probable for Week 10 vs. New Orleans. He practiced in full Friday after sitting out Wednesday and being limited on Thursday.
Analysis: Edwards has been playing better as of late, with two sacks in his last four games. But he still isn't filling the stat sheet, so he remains a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards recorded his second sack in as many games Week 6 against the Panthers. He also had three tackles, including two solo.
Analysis: Edwards has only the two sacks all season, and he isn't usually a reliable source of the statistic, recording no more than 8 1/2 in any one season. You can consider him a No. 3 DL in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards picked up his first sack of the season in Week 5 against the Packers. He brought down QB Aaron Rodgers and finished with three tackles in the 25-14 loss.
Analysis: After posting at least eight sacks each of the last two seasons, Fantasy owners knew it was only a matter of time before Edwards got on the board. He should be to wreak havoc playing opposite John Abraham so continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy DL in IDP formats.
News: As expected, Atlanta DL Ray Edwards was active for the team's Week 3 contest against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Edwards was limited in practice last Wednesday and Thursday with a troublesome foot injury. He was returned to practice in full on Friday.
Analysis: Edwards has registered three tackles and no sacks in the first two games of the season as he looks to get going in Week 3 against the NFC South rival. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end option in IDP formats for Sunday's game.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards (foot) is listed as probable for Week 3 at Tampa Bay. Edwards returned to a full practice Friday after limited reps Wednesday and Thursday.
Analysis: Edwards' impact hasn't shown up in the stat column yet for Fantasy owners. He has just three tackles and no sacks through two games, but we are hoping the sacks will come with time since he plays opposite John Abraham. It's just that Edwards remains a low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 3.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that injured Falcons DL Ray Edwards (knee) will be able to make his debut with the team in Saturday's game against the Steelers. Right now, we are anticipating that Ray will be going this week, said Falcons coach Mike Smith after practice on Wednesday. Were going to get our first snaps with him. In terms of the number of snaps, well wait and see if there are any set backs from todays practice, but I doubt that. We look forward to seeing him out on the field.
Analysis: Edwards will be controlled in the game, but it will be his first action as a Falcon after some productive years with the Vikings. The good news is that he excelled in a similar 4-3 defensive scheme, so there are less chances for a drop-off. He also gets to play opposite a perennial Pro-Bowler in John Abraham, just as he did in Minnesota with Jared Allen. Edwards should be able to make an instant impact in 2011, so he's again worth a late-round pick on Draft Day in IDP leagues.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards (knee) was able to practice once on Sunday in a limited capacity, leaving his status up in the air still for Friday's game against the Jaguars. Were going to see how it goes the next few days and make a determination as we get closer to the end of the week, coach Mike Smith told the team's official website after the session. Its too early to rule him our or rule him in. This was really the next step in our plan to bring him along slowly, to get him into team periods.
Analysis: Edwards may or may not play Friday, but it's a good sign in the grand scheme of things. The team's prize of free agency is almost certain to be ready to go by the time the regular season begins barring a setback. Edwards missed the team's first preseason game as he was still recovering from offseason knee surgery. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his health going forward, though it appears to be safe to select him with a late-round pick in IDP formats for now.
News: Falcons DL Ray Edwards will not play during Friday's preseason game against the Dolphins after having a minor knee procedure performed in the offseason. So far, hes hasnt done any hitting at all, defensive line coach Ray Hamilton told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Hes working with us during the individual period. Hes looking pretty good. Hes look lean, tough, athletic. The next step is to get him into some action.
Analysis: The Falcons just signed Edwards to a five-year deal to help beef up the team's pass rush, so they are going to be extra careful with the veteran lineman. However, this procedure isn't expected to keep Edwards sidelined at the start of the season, so he is still a decent late-round Fantasy option in IDP formats.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards has agreed to a five-year deal with the Falcons, according to multiple sources. The deal is worth $30 million with $11 million in guarantees. Edwards had eight sacks and 37 total tackles last season in Minnesota.
Analysis: Edwards should be a key pass rusher for the Falcons, and he's a definite upgrade over the other rushers they had there behind John Abraham and even Kroy Biermann. We would tab him as a halfway decent No. 3 Fantasy DL now that he's in Atlanta. We'd take him with a middle- to late-round pick.
News: The St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports that Vikings free agent Ray Edwards wants a big pay day and is all but gone. The Vikings are high on second-year DE Everson Griffen, but he still must prove in camp that he's worthy of a starting spot.
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Edwards ends up, and hopefully he lands in a good spot where his value can improve. Consider him a low-end No. 2 DL on Draft Day in 2011 depending on what team he plays for.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards notched his 6.5 sack of the season in Week 15 against the Bears. Edwards had four tackles, including the sack in the 40-14 contest and was also credited with two quarterback hits.
Analysis: Edwards only has 29 tackles on the season but has retained Fantasy value because of his ability to get to the quarterback. Consider him a low-end Fantasy DL heading into Week 16 against the Eagles.
News: After missing the last two games with an ankle injury, Vikings DL Ray Edwards was active for Week 15 against the Bears.
Analysis: Edwards has two sacks in five career games against his NFC North rival, so he could be in line for a solid game in Week 15. Edwards is an unheralded pass rusher since he plays opposite Jared Allen, but he is solid in his own right. Still, Edwards is more of a low-end Fantasy start in IDP formats.
News: Minnesota DL Ray Edwards (ankle) is questionable to play in the Week 15 Monday night game against the Chicago Bears. Edwards has been able to get on the practice field in a limited capacity this week and could make his return on Monday night.
Analysis: Edwards has two sacks in five career games against his NFC North rival, so you know he will be itching to play Week 15. Edwards is an unheralded pass rusher since he plays opposite Jared Allen, but he is solid in his own right. Still, Edwards is more of a low-end Fantasy start when healthy.
News: Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier is hopeful Ray Edwards will be back in Week 15 against the Bears after missing the last two games. "Ray Edwards is on the mend. We are hoping to have him back. We will find out a little more when Thursday rolls around," Frazier said.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards (ankle) was listed as inactive for Week 14 against the Giants. It was the second straight game he missed.
Analysis: Edwards has 24 tackles with 5.5 sacks on the year but he does not help Fantasy owners if he is not playing. Stash him away for another week and keep an eye on his status heading into Week 15 against the Bears. When healthy, Edwards is a No. 3 Fanatsy DL in IDP formats.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards (ankle) is listed as questionable heading into the Week 14 game against the Giants. He returned to practice on Friday on a limited basis after sitting out of the Wednesday and Thursday sessions. Interim coach Leslie Frazier said Edwards did more work at practice Thursday but will "probably" be a game time decision Sunday.
Analysis: Edwards might make an impact against the Giants given the state of their offensive line. Still, owners should reel in expectations given than Edwards will be at less than 100 percent. Consider him a No. 3 DL at this point if he can play. To be sure, check back with us 90 minutes before kickoff when the actives are released.
News: Interim coach Leslie Frazier said DE Ray Edwards' high-ankle sprain is improving and Edwards will start next Sunday against the Giants if he is healthy.
Analysis: Edwards might make an impact against the Giants given the state of their offensive line. Still, owners should reel in expectations given than Edwards will be at less than 100 percent. Consider him a No. 3 DL at this point.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards (ankle) was listed as inactive for Week 13 against the Bills. He returned to practice on Friday, but had been listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup.
Analysis: When healthy, Edwards can be used as a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy DL. Owners in all IDP formats need to keep him stashed for Week 13.
News: Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards (ankle) was at practice Friday for the first time this week and stretched with the team but that appeared to be all in which he would participate. Edwards stood to the side and watched the rest of the defensive linemen during the portion of practice open to the media. He is listed as questionable heading into the Week 13 game against the Bills. If he can't go, Brian Robison would start at left end.
Analysis: Edwards has only 24 tackles this season, which puts him in jeopardy of making it to 50 tackles for a third straight season. However, he does have 5 1/2 sacks, so he is proving to be a decent pass-rushing presence. He remains more of a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy DL. But he sounds pessimistic about playing Week 13 after saying Robison will do a good job, so Fantasy owners should go with healthier alternatives.
News: Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards has a high ankle sprain and may not be able to play Week 13 against the Bills, which would mean that Brian Robison would start at left end. "B-Robison will do a great job," Edwards said. "Just try to cheer him on and give him any keys and any tips that I pick up along with his studying to help him be successful if that's what it comes to."
But he sounds pessimistic about playing Week 13, so Fantasy owners should go with healthier alternatives.
News: Interim coach Leslie Frazier said DE Ray Edwards suffered an ankle sprain in Sunday's victory at Washington in Week 12. Frazier did not sound overly concerned that Edwards would miss any time. He left just before halftime and didn't return to the game. He had one tackle on the day.
Analysis: Edwards is a low-end DL option in IDP leagues, so owners should monitor him through the week. It doesn't sound like it's too serious, but game day is a week away. He has 23 tackles on the season to go with his 5 1/2 sacks.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards left the Week 12 game in Washington just before halftime with an ankle injury and did not return. Edwards had one tackle in the game prior to leaving. Edwards will undergo further tests Monday, coach Leslie Frazier said after the game.
Analysis: Edwards had 23 tackles on the season to go with his 5 1/2 sacks in 10 games entering the Week 12 contest. He is only a decent option in deeper Fantasy IDP leagues going forward.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards picked up a pair of sacks in a Week 11 loss to the Packers. He now has 5 1/2 on the season.
Analysis: Edwards had 8 1/2 sacks last season, and could well beat that total in 2010. While his tackle totals have gone down a bit this year, he is a nice young talent and remains worth using in deeper IDP Fantasy leagues.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards recorded two sacks in the 27-24 overtime win over Arizona in Week 9. That raised his season sack total to 3.5. He also made three tackles in the game.
Analysis: Edwards can normally be counted on to help with sacks in Fantasy, but that's about all he will contribute. As a result, he is no more than a low-end DL option in IDP leagues.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards recorded just one tackle in Week 8 against the Patriots. He now has just three tackles over his last three games.
Analysis: Edwards is a highly-underrated pass rusher, but doesn't bring much else to the table. He only has 1.5 sacks on the season to go along with 15 tackles. Consider him nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DL heading into Week 9 against the Cardinals.
News: Minnesota DL Ray Edwards notched two tackles (one solo) in the Week 7 loss to the Packers. He hurried QB Aaron Rodgers, but failed to register a sack. Edwards has been held sack-less in two straight games after notching 1 1/2 against the Jets in Week 5.
Analysis: Edwards is a highly-underrated pass rusher but it had not really shown since Week 5. He could end up becoming a good sleeper if available in your league. He is worth acquiring and is not a bad Fantasy option for Week 8 at New England.
News: Despite the Vikings taking the loss, Minnesota DL Ray Edwards still had a solid game Monday night against the Jets. Edwards managed to get 1 1/2 sacks on quarterback Mark Sanchez. He finished with seven tackles in the loss.
Analysis: Edwards picked up his first sack and a half on the season in the Week 5 game and his seven tackles were three more than he had in his first three games combined this year. Edwards is a highly-underrated pass rusher but it had not really shown until Monday night's game. This could get him to break out and Edwards can be starting in plenty of Fantasy IDP leagues for Week 6 against Dallas.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards did record a tackle in Week 3 against the Lions. He had just four tackles in the first two games of the season.
Analysis: Edwards is a highly-underrated pass rusher, but he is still looking for his first sack this season. He remains a threat for 50 tackles and five sacks and that makes him no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy DL.
News: The Saints did a great job of containing Vikings DL Ray Edwards in Week 1. Edwards failed to bring down QB Drew Brees for a sack and had just one solo tackle in the game. Although, it was a tackle for loss.
Analysis: Edwards has really thrived the last two seasons playing opposite Jared Allen. He isn't quite as good as getting to the QB, but Edwards is still a threat for at least 50 tackles and five sacks. He remains a decent No. 2 Fantasy DL.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards hasn't made much of an impact in the preseason, but still his only tackle has been a sack. This coming after he totaled a career-high 8 1/2 sacks in 2009.
Analysis: Edwards is a highly-underrated pass rusher, known as the guy across the field from Jared Allen. But that can actually help him in both the NFL and in Fantasy circles. Edwards will see less double teams than Allen and that could free him up for more sacks. Edwards is at least a threat for 50 tackles and five sacks and that makes him no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy DL.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards has signed his restricted free agent tender, locking up his availability for the 2010 season. He will be a free agent again following the 2010 season. The team can get a better look at the knee he strained last postseason now that he's back in the fold.
Analysis: He's worth a middle-round pick as a quality No. 2 Fantasy DL as he'll likely be motivated to play big again for a contract, just as he did last season.
News: Better news for the Vikings on Friday: The team saw starting defensive linemen Ray Edwards and Kevin Williams return to practice. They're listed as questionable with knee injuries. Defensive tackle Pat Williams (elbow/foot) and cornerback Benny Sapp (ankle/back) are also questionable.
Analysis: The only legit Fantasy consideration from this bunch that owners should be worried about is Edwards, who has a knee sprain and surely isn't close to 100 percent. We suggest passing on him in Playoff Challenge and other Fantasy formats for this game. Everyone else is a low-end IDP choice at best.
News: Minnesota Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards is working hard to get his right knee healthy enough to play in the NFC championship game at New Orleans. But he missed his second straight day of practice Thursday because of the injury. He was hurt in the third quarter of last week's playoff win over Dallas, after recording three sacks, five quarterback hurries, eight tackles and a forced fumble. Edwards spent eight hours in the training room getting treatment on Wednesday. He says his knee is "good."
Analysis: Edwards proved to be a usable Fantasy DL in 2009 and should be next season so long as he's healthy. Consider him a risky start for those leagues who use IDPs into the postseason.

News: The Vikings will watch DE Ray Edwards closely this week after he was injured in the third quarter of Sunday's playoff victory over Dallas, appearing to hurt his right knee. Edwards had three sacks and six quarterback hurries against the Cowboys.

Analysis: The Vikings have several solid IDP options, and look for the Vikings defense to play well in Week 11 against Seattle.
News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards doubled his season sack total when he took Aaron Rodgers down twice in a Week 8 win at Lambeau.
Analysis: Edwards doesn't get as much attention as fellow Vikings DL Jared Allen, but he's worth using in most IDP Fantasy leagues. You'll have to bench him in Week 9 however, as Minnesota is on a bye.
News: Vikings DE Jared Allen had seven tackles and a sack Sunday against Baltimore. He got help from LB Chad Greenway (10 tackles), DB Cedric Griffin (10 tackles), LB E.J. Henderson (six tackles), DL Kevin Williams (four tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble) and DL Ray Edwards (one tackle).
Analysis: The Vikings continue to have several of the top defenders in the NFL. Keep all of these players active for Week 7 at Pittsburgh and hope for more outings like this.
News: Minnesota DL Ray Edwards (hamstring) has been listed as probable for the team's Week 5 game at St. Louis. Edwards was able to participate in practice in full on Friday.
Analysis: Edwards is starting opposite Jared Allen and seems to benefiting from all the double teams his teammate is seeing. As long as Edwards continues to be productive, he has a chance to move up the Fantasy rankings. For now, he is a nice low-end Fantasy option. Edwards totaled a team-high eight tackles (seven solo) and one sack during a Week 2 win against the Lions.

News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards picked up two sacks, giving him five on the season, Week 16 against the Falcons. He finished with seven tackles, including four solo.
Analysis: Edwards doesn't get his sacks consistently enough to make an impact in Fantasy. Treat him as just a low-end DL in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Minnesota DL Ray Edwards made three tackles and a sack in Week 14's win over the Lions. Edwards also forced a fumble in the game.
Analysis: Edwards has three sacks and 43 tackles on the season. He doesn't do enough in Fantasy to warrant using in Fantasy IDP leagues at this time.
News: Vikings DL Kevin Williams (1 1/2 sacks), DL Ellis Wyms (sack), DL Pat Williams (sack) and DL Ray Edwards (half a sack) all got to David Garrard in a Week 12 win at Jacksonville.

News: The Vikings listed the following players as inactive for Week 4 at Tennessee: QB John David Booty (third QB), FB Jeff Dugan, RB Thomas Tapeh, DB Madieu Williams, DL Marcus McCauley, LB Vinny Ciurciu and DL Ray Edwards.

News: Vikings DL Ray Edwards was held out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Cowboys, although he was not injured. Edwards, who started training camp on the PUP list with a back injury, finished the preseason with three tackles and one sack.
Analysis: Edwards had 30 tackles, five sacks, one touchdown and four forced fumbles in 2007 while only playing 12 games. He is a starting end for the Vikings, but remains a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards has aggravated a lingering back injury and will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Coach Brad Childress revealed the problem Thursday afternoon, but said the move was precautionary and referred to the condition as "a little twinge." Edwards is slated to start at left end this season after switching spots to accommodate Jared Allen. He has been bothered by the injury since minicamp in early June, but he had been on track to be ready for the beginning of camp. Childress said he believes the setback was caused by overworking.
Analysis: Edwards' injury doesn't seem to be serious, but it's just a reminder of how injury prone he is. Though he's slated to be a sleeper Fantasy option at DL, it's best to consider him nothing more than a reserve worth a middle- to late-round pick in drafts. We'll deliver the latest news on Edwards' back when we get it.
News: Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on steroid use. Edwards has been a starter for most of the season, but was replaced by Erasmus James for last Sunday's game against Detroit. Coach Brad Childress said that decision had nothing to do with Edwards' violation, which the coach learned of on Wednesday morning. Childress said he was disappointed in Edwards and could not comment further because of the confidentiality surrounding the policy. "It's disappointing, but there are policies in place and our players have to adhere to those policies," Childress said. "Every team goes through challenges as you go through the year. We've been through some of our own. It's an opportunity to have others step up."
Analysis: Edwards is in his second year out of Purdue. The fourth-round draft pick has been one of the Vikings' most consistent performers at defensive end. He is tied for second on the team with four sacks and also has 41 tackles, including five tackles for loss, and 22 quarterback hurries. He also scored a touchdown on a 9-yard fumble return in Week 2 against Detroit. He is eligible to return to the team after the Dec. 30 season finale against Denver and could play if the Vikings make the playoffs. He can dropped in all seasonal Fantasy leagues now that he won't play again this season.
News: LB Ben Leber (five tackles), DB Cedric Griffin (four tackles, two passes defended), DB Marcus McCauley (four tackles, pass defended), LB Chad Greenway (four tackles, fumble recovered) and DL Ray Edwards (sack, fumble recovery) all had nice contributions in Minnesota's 35-17 win over the Chargers in Week 9.
Analysis: Griffin and Greenway have some minimal value in IDP leagues as backups at their respective positions, while the others have no Fantasy value at this time. Do not start any of them against the Packers in Week 10.
News: Vikings DE Ray Edwards bruised his hip in the fourth quarter and didn't return, but X-rays were negative.
Analysis: Edwards is a low-end Fantasy DE who doesn't help many Fantasy owners. Don't expect to use him much in IDP league play.
News: The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with two of their six draft picks Monday, DE Ray Edwards and DB Greg Blue.
Analysis: Edwards, who skipped his senior season at Purdue, was taken in the fourth round. He has great size but awful speed for a pass-rushing DE. He may wind up being a decent end in a 3-4 scheme someday. Owners should not spend a draft pick on him.
