Jets release Braylon Edwards

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/26/2013) The Jets released wideout Braylon Edwards, reports the New York Post. Edwards was unable to suit up Saturday against the Giants due to a leg injury.

He had five catches for 72 yards in the preseason.

Jets list usual suspects as inactives

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/24/2013) The Jets will have wide receiver Braylon Edwards (leg) and cornerback Dee Milliner (calf) inactive for Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, the New York Daily News reports.

Other inactive players for the Jets are as follows: LB Quinton Coples; DT Kenrick Ellis; C Dalton Freeman; LB Josh Mauga. The team had no surprise inactive players.

Braylon Edwards could get cut

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/23/2013) With the Jets bringing in receiver Mohamed Massaquoi on Thursday, that could be bad news for Braylon Edwards, whose roster spot is in jeopardy, reports the New York Daily News.

Edwards hasn't practiced in the past four days, has played later in preseason games than expected and has a leg injury, according to Rex Ryan.

Braylon Edwards: 'I can play at an elite level'

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/14/2013) Braylon Edwards hasn't topped 50 catches since 2010. But the 30-year-old Jets receiver says "the talent is there" for him to return to an elite level.

"I'm starting to get into camp shape, that groove, that vibe," Edwards said, via ESPN.com. "Now is the chance to really go after it and really show these guys I still have it and that I can play at an elite level to help this team win games."

With Santonio Holmes rehabbing from a Lisfranc injury, the Jets are desperate for receivers to step forward. Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley are the top wideouts on the depth chart.

"The talent is there, that's what people need to realize," Edwards said. "[General manager] John Idzik was in Seattle. If he saw a diminished player, I don't think he would've brought me here."

Braylon Edwards gets preseason started

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/10/2013) Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards caught both passes that came his way Friday during a preseason game against Detroit.

Edwards went for 23 yards on his two grabs. His long was 18 yards.

The wide receiver was brought back by the Jets this season and should continue to be a big-play threat for the team.

Braylon Edwards gets one-year deal

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/25/2013) The Jets have decided to bring back receiver Braylon Edwards on a one-year deal. According to multiple reports, Edwards signed with the Jets on Wednesday.

Edwards, assuming he's healthy, provides an immediate upgrade for an offense that either will be run by Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith. If Santonio Holmes (foot) is out for an extended period of time, the top Jets receivers would have been Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley or Clyde Gates.

Edwards played three games in New York last year, totaling 10 catches, after he caught a combined 23 passes in 2011 and 2012 when he was with the 49ers and Seahawks. His last decent season came in 2010 when he recorded 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns for New York.

Braylon Edwards shouldn't be trusted in Fantasy

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2013) There might be some minimal excitement with Braylon Edwards coming back to the Jets, but a quick look at his recent history suggests otherwise. In 2010, his last year with the Jets, Edwards caught 53 passes for 904 yards and seven scores, easily his best numbers since his breakout 2007 with the Browns. But since 2010 Edwards has played with three teams (including the Jets last year) and has totaled 33 catches for 380 yards and one score. He's struggled to fully get over a knee injury he suffered with the Niners in 2011. Now's not the time to get pumped about a Edwards-Sanchize reunion with Gang Green.

Report: Jets bringing back Braylon Edwards

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/24/2013) Desperate for wide receiver help, the Jets are on the verge of re-signing Braylon Edwards, reports the New York Daily News. Edwards is taking a physical and will re-sign with the team if he passes, according to the report. Edwards, 30, played three games for the Jets last year after getting waived by Seattle. But in 2010, he caught 53 balls for 904 yards and seven touchdowns for New York.

Kellen Winslow pushing Jets to re-sign Braylon Edwards

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/22/2013) New Jets tight end Kellen Winslow took to Twitter to encourage the team to re-sign his old Browns teammate, wideout Braylon Edwards.

"#BringBraylonBack," read Winslow's tweet.

Edwards, 30, played three games for the Jets last year after coming over from Seattle. He made 10 catches for 125 yards. The New York Daily News reports the Jets are considering adding Edwards but might wait until after camp starts.

The Jets also are considering wide receivers Laurent Robinson and Austin Collie.

Jets open to Edwards reunion

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/1/2013) The New York Daily News reports that Jets general manager John Idzik said the team would consider bringing back free agent receiver Braylon Edwards. "Guys like that will be under consideration as we go forward, for sure," Idzik said.

Edwards could return to Jets

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/4/2013) The New York Post reports that the Jets could bring back free agent receiver Braylon Edwards "to be their fourth receiver" in 2013. The report said "signing Edwards near the end of the season (in 2012) proved to be a smart move. He clicked with (Mark) Sanchez and was a strong locker room presence."
