News: The Patriots released receiver Anthony Gonzalez on Tuesday. He was signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent from Indianapolis on March 17.
Analysis: Gonzalez will now try to sign on with a new team. He was drafted by the Colts in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. In five seasons with the Colts, the 6-foot, 193-pound wide receiver started 12 of 40 games and had 99 career receptions for 1,307 yards and seven touchdowns. Injuries have ruined his career, and he likely will never make much of an impact for Fantasy owners. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, the former Colts first-round draft pick, signed with the Patriots as a free agent Saturday. Gonzalez caught 94 passes for 1,240 yards and seven touchdowns over his first two seasons but was limited to 11 games and five receptions due to injuries over the past three years.
Analysis: Expect Gonzalez to provide depth for the Patriots' receiving corps, if not share a few secrets from his days in Indianapolis. Provided he makes the final roster cut, Fantasy owners should only consider him off waivers once he actually proves he can stay healthy and contribute. We would not recommend drafting him.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring) was activated in Week 2 against the Browns. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report.
Analysis: Gonzalez was inactive for Week 1, but got the go-ahead to dress in Week 2 against the Browns. Gonzalez's career has spiraled out of control due to injuries. Once he is healthy, he will also join a crowded receiver rotation, so he might not have a big impact initially -- not to mention the absence of Peyton Manning. Leave Gonzalez on Fantasy waivers until further notice.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez came through Wednesday's practice in good shape physically. Gonzalez has been nursing a sore hamstring since training camp. "I really do feel great," he said. "Everybody is trying to protect me from myself. But its gone well, and Im excited.
Analysis: Gonzalez was inactive for Week 1, but it seems as though he is on track to play in Week 2 against the Browns. Gonzalez's career has spiraled out of control due to injuries. Once he is healthy, he will also join a crowded receiver rotation, so he might not have a big impact initially. Leave Gonzalez on Fantasy waivers until further notice.
News: Colts, already without Peyton Manning, will be without Anthony Gonzalez for Week 1 in Houston. Gonzalez continues to be out with his hamstring that kept him out of practice. He is inactive for Week 1.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been known for being injury-plagued, and the 2011 preseason has begun that way as well. The Ohio State product was not worth a pick on Draft Day ad should be on waivers in most formats for Week 1. Gonzalez should be ignored in all leagues until he proves he can stay healthy.
News: The Indianapolis Star speculated Monday that because of a hamstring injury that's kept him out of practice, WR Anthony Gonzalez might not play in Week 1 at Houston.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been known for being injury-plagued, and the 2011 preseason has been no different. The Ohio State product is not worth a pick on Draft Day. Gonzalez should be ignored in all leagues until he proves he can stay healthy.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez was among the team's inactives for Friday's game against the Packers because of a hamstring issue that has continued to nag him. Gonzalez missed last week's game as well.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been known early in his career for being injury-plagued, and the 2011 preseason has been no different. Even though he may be getting first-team reps with the offense when healthy, the Ohio State product is not worth a pick on Draft Day. Gonzalez should be ignored in all leagues until he proves he can stay healthy.
News: WR Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring) will not play for the Colts Friday night against the Redskins. Gonzalez has not practiced for the past three days.
Analysis: Gonzalez is no stranger to being hurt -- he's been banged up for years. It's a shame since he was a potential stud when the Colts drafted him way back when. Fantasy owners shouldn't consider him with a draft pick in 2011.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is back in training camp after two straight injury-plagued seasons. His 2010 campaign ended on IR because of a knee injury. Ive put on a little bit of weight, intentionally, not fat weight, Gonzalez told the team's official website. (Im) right around 200. I always played at 193. Now, Im just a shade under 200. I feel good. I feel stronger. I feel like everything is working like I want it to. Now its time to see if all of that paid off. Gonzalez said he has no hesitation when he is out on the field and is not thinking about the past. When Im out there, never once have I thought, whether this year or last year, thought, Oh boy, I just dont feel right, or Whats going to happen, or anything like that, he said. Its never really been on my mind. When Im out there, Im thinking more in terms of, How am I going to make this next play? Theres no mental hesitation anyway, from a health standpoint.
Analysis: Gonzalez was becoming a reliable target for QB Peyton Manning in his first two years in the NFL and appeared on his way to being the next great Colts receiver. But as mentioned, Gonzalez has spent more time on the sidelines than in games the last two years, so he is working his way back into the picture in Indy. He now has to contend with the likes of Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie for targets behind Reggie Wayne, so Gonzalez is a wait-and-see Fantasy option.
News: The Colts placed wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (knee) on injured reserve on Saturday, for the second time in as many years. Gonzalez's season is now over. Gonzalez was injured in the Week 8 win over the Texans. "It's just a question of how long it will take to heal," Colts President Bill Polian said. "I don't know that surgery is indicated."
Analysis: Gonzalez just can't seem to get a break in his pro career. He missed time in his rookie season of '07 with a thumb injury, sat out almost all of 2009 with a knee injury and now he's already dealt with back, ankle and knee problems this season as it comes to a screeching halt. Fantasy owners can officially drop Gonzalez in all formats.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez injured the PCL in his knee during a Week 8 win over Houston and could miss the rest of the season.
Analysis: Gonzalez just can't seem to get a break in his pro career. He missed time in his rookie season of '07 with a thumb injury, sat out almost all of 2009 with a knee injury and now he's already dealt with back, ankle and knee problems this season. Gonzalez looks like a dump in the majority of Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) didn't practice on Thursday and is listed as questionable for Indianapolis' Week 9 matchup against Philadelphia. Gonzalez got dinged up in Week 8 versus the Texans. He had four catches for 55 yards in that game, his second outing of the season. Looking ahead towards the Eagles, Gonzalez sees a defense that has allowed three receivers to surpass 100 yards this season. Gonzalez hasn't done that since Week 2 of the 2008 NFL season.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been productive in the Colts offense, but has had trouble staying healthy during his career. Gonzalez and Austin Collie are both banged up for Indy. Gonzalez will try to fill the void of Collie again in Week 9, but Fantasy owners should monitor him closely to make sure he makes the trip with the team. If he is healthy enough to play, Gonzalez should be viewed as a low-end No. 3/high-end No. 4 Fantasy WR option.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez skipped practice Wednesday with a knee injury. Gonzalez got dinged up against the Texans on Monday night and will likely be questionable for Week 9 at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Gonzalez was targeted six times on Monday, finishing with four receptions for 55 yards. He is trying to fill in for Austin Collie, who is out for a while with a thumb injury, and got nicely involved against Houston in his first game since Week 1. If Gonzalez is able to make the trip to Philly in Week 9, he will be considered a No. 4 Fantasy WR.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Tuesday that WR Anthony Gonzalez was injured in Monday night's win over the Texans. He did not elaborate on the issue, other than to say Gonzalez was "banged up a bit".
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who was playing in his first game since Week 1, was fairly productive in Week 8 against the Texans. Gonzalez was targeted six times in the 30-17 win and finished with four receptions for 55 yards. He averaged 13.8 yards per reception and had a long of 34 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez looked pretty sharp in his first game back from an ankle injury. He looked crisp running his routes and was able to plant and cut off his ankle. Gonzalez is expected to play a larger role with Austin Collie's playing status still up in the air and Dallas Clark out for the season. He is very familiar with the offense and has proved in the past he can be a solid Fantasy contributor, when healthy. Fantasy owners should monitor the status of Collie through the week to see if he will be able to play in Week 9 against the Eagles. If he can play, Gonzalez could lose some targets. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR of flex option heading into Week 9 at this point. However, his value could increase if Collie is again sidelined.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) was not listed among Indianapolis' inactives prior to the Monday night game against Houston Week 8. Gonzalez is active for the game and will play a big role with Austin Collie injured.
Analysis: Gonzalez has not played since Week 1 at Houston when he caught one pass for 12 yards. Now that Collie is injured, however, look for Peyton Manning to look Gonzalez's way once again. Houston has a terrible secondary and gives up huge chunks of yardage to opposing wide receivers. We'd roll the dice on Gonzalez as a solid No. 3 WR or flex option for Monday night.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) had a good week of practice and might be available to play against Houston Monday night after going on Saturday. Gonzalez has not played since the Sept. 12 game with the Texans. "He's performed well, practiced well," coach Jim Caldwell said. "I think he's feeling good."
Analysis: Gonzalez is expected to play a significant role for the Colts with receiving threats Dallas Clark and Austin Collie out for the Monday night game. The fact he knows the offense and has plenty of experience playing with QB Peyton Manning helps his cause, but he has been halted by injuries throughout his career. If he can play on Sunday against a porous Houston secondary, Gonzalez could be productive. We'd roll the dice on him as a No. 3 WR or flex option given the shape of the Indy offense right now.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) fully participated in Thursday's workout. Indianapolis hosts Houston on Monday night in Week 8.
Analysis: Earlier this week, Gonzalez refuted an ESPN.com report that said he tweaked his ankle last week and would miss Week 8, and it looks like he was telling the truth. Gonzalez is expected to play a significant role for the Colts with receiving threats Dallas Clark and Austin Collie out.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez refuted an ESPN.com report that said he tweaked his ankle last week and would miss Sunday's game vs. Houston. He expects to play on Sunday. "I saw that little report. I have no idea what that is. No tweaking, nothing. I have no idea where that came from," Gonzalez said. "I'm very optimistic. ... We've been pretty good about how we've handled it. We're doing what we're supposed to do. I'd be surprised if I didn't play."
Analysis: Gonzalez is expected to play a significant role for the Colts with receiving threats Dallas Clark and Austin Collie out (Clark's done for the season). Gonzalez knows the offense and has plenty of experience playing with QB Peyton Manning but has been halted by injuries throughout his career. If he can play on Sunday against a porous Houston secondary, Gonzalez could be productive. We'd roll the dice on him as a No. 3 WR or flex option given the shape of the Indy offense right now.
News: With WR Austin Collie out for a while following hand surgery, WR Anthony Gonzalez is likely to see a nice boost in Fantasy value if he can get healthy for Indy's Week 8 game against Houston after their bye.
Analysis: Gonzalez, who missed almost of last season with a knee injury, hurt himself in Week 1 and hasn't been seen since. He did practice a bit last week and so could well be healthy for next Sunday's game against the Texans. Pick him up now in deeper formats if you need WR help.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) is inactive for the Week 6 game at Washington. He did not make the trip to D.C. with his teammates.
Analysis: Gonzalez was not able to practice on Friday after seeing limited action on Wednesday and Thursday. We speculated that missing Friday's practice could hint at the status of Gonzalez for Sunday, and it seems like that was the case. He should be stashed away on Fantasy rosters for the time being until he proves he can get back on the field for the Colts in a productive capacity.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) will not play against the Redskins in Week 6. He did not travel with the team for the Sunday Night game. Gonzalez has not played since injuring the ankle in the Week 1 loss to the Texans. He was officially listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) was unable to practice on Friday after seeing limited practice time on Wednesday and Thursday. He is officially listed as questionable for the Week 6 game at Washington. Gonzalez was injured in the season-opening loss at Houston and has missed the last four games. The Colts are preparing to face the Redskins 30th ranked passing defense that allows 298 yards per game.
Analysis: Missing practice on Friday could prove to be the reason Gonzalez misses yet another game. His status is still in question according to the injury report but it does not look very promising. Monitor the Colts inactives when they become available to us around 7 p.m. on Sunday for the nightcap. We will keep you posted. Even if he does play, he is not worth starting in Fantasy at this point. It looks like Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie will be ahead of him once again.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday as he continued to deal with an ankle injury. Gonzalez, who will face of against Washington in Week 6, was injured in the season-opening loss at Houston and has missed the last four games.
Analysis: Gonzalez has not participated in practice for several weeks but could return in Week 6 at Washington. His Fantasy value has diminished after the emergence of Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, but both of the WRs were limited on Thursday. Monitor how the rest of the week goes for the Colts receiving corps before pulling the trigger on Gonzalez. He is not worth starting in Fantasy at this point.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice in preparation for the Week 6 game at Washington. Gonzalez was injured in the season-opening loss at Houston. He has missed the last four games.
Analysis: Gonzalez has not practiced in practice for several weeks but could return in Week 6 at Washington. His Fantasy value has diminished after the emergence of Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, but neither of the WRs practiced on Wednesday. Monitor how the rest of the week goes for the Colts receiving corps before pulling the trigger on Gonzalez. He is not worth starting in Fantasy at this point.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) returned for Monday's walkthrough practice session. Gonzalez was injured in the season-opening loss at Houston. He has missed the last four games.
Analysis: This is the first positive update we have had on Gonzalez in a while. Still, we have to see how he progresses the rest of the week leading up to Week 6 against the Redskins. Gonzalez's career has been taken off track because of injuries and he is no longer the Fantasy option he once was with the emergence of receivers like Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. If Gonzalez is back in Week 6, he probably isn't worth starting in Fantasy.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) was inactive for a fourth straight game in Week 5 against the Chiefs. He has not played since Week 1.
Analysis: The Colts have offered up no update on Gonzalez's status. All we know is that he is a week-to-week candidate. Although, his Fantasy value is dwindling with each game Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie continue to shine in his absence. Gonzalez is only worth stashing in the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) is set to miss his fourth straight game this weekend against the Chiefs in Week 5. Gonzalez has only played in one game this season, Week 1 at Houston, in which he caught one pass for 12 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez has lost his starting job to Pierre Garcon and the Colts have moved on without him. Gonzalez's career has quickly spiraled out of control because of injuries. He might not even be worth holding onto in Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 4 at Jacksonville. It will be the third straight game Gonzalez misses.
Analysis: This is not the opportune time for Gonzalez to be sitting out. Not with Pierre Garcon, who stole his starting job, also hurting. Gonzalez's career has quickly spiraled out of control because of injuries. He might not even be worth holding onto in Fantasy leagues while he is out.
News: The Colts have ruled WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) out for Week 3 at Denver.
Analysis: Gonzalez has hurt himself in the opener two straight seasons now, but this ankle injury isn't expected to land him on IR like his knee problem did in 2009. Continue to stash Gonzalez away in deeper Fantasy formats just in case he does find a few targets from QB Peyton Manning at some point in 2010.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who sustained a high ankle sprain against Houston, hopes to be back on the practice field soon. He was inactive for the team's Week 2 game vs. the Giants. "(Doctors) are saying four to six (weeks)," Gonzalez said. "But I obviously hope to be on the short end." Gonzalez sat out Monday's practice.
Analysis: Gonzalez has never been a fast healer, and that continues to work against him here. While he's sidelined, receivers Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie are making sizable contributions for the Colts. That could mean that Gonzalez won't have much of a role when he comes back healthy. He's not worth holding on to in Fantasy play while he's sidelined.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who left Week 1 with a high ankle sprain, is inactive as expected Week 2 against the Giants.
Analysis: Gonzalez is likely out for a few weeks and is only going to fall further behind Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie on the depth chart because of this injury. He's only worth stashing in deeper leagues.
News: The Colts announced on Tuesday that WR Anthony Gonzalez will not play Week 2 against the Giants because of a high ankle sprain. He was injured in Week 1 against the Texans. He had just one catch for 12 yards in the season opener.
Analysis: This injury just adds further frustration for Gonzalez, who is having a tough time overcoming Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie on the depth chart. Ever since he got injured last season, his career has been on a quick decline. Gonzalez should be reserved in Fantasy until he is back on the field producing.
News: Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez did not take part in the team's short practice Monday, a day after hurting his ankle in their Week 1 loss at Houston. Gonzalez did not start and didn't finish the game, either, watching Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon continue where they left off in 2009. Head coach Jim Caldwell did not give an updated prognosis on Gonzalez on Monday, either.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been an injury risk dating back to his rookie season, so it wouldn't surprise us if he missed some time. It sure looks like he's been passed on the Colts' depth chart, too, so he's really the least attractive of all Colts receivers at this point. Don't count on him in Week 2 vs. the Giants.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez has left the Week 1 game against the Texans with an ankle injury. Gonzalez made one catch in the first half for 12 yards and had one grab ruled incomplete due to him being ruled out of bounds. Gonzalez was barely targeted in the second half before leaving due to the injury.
Analysis: Gonzalez did little against the Texans while he was in the game. We were unsure how he'd be used with Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne all catching passes from Peyton Manning. He wasn't used much. Gonzalez, after his performance in Week 1, is just someone to monitor Week 2 against the Giants. We don't recommend his use in Fantasy until he proves himself.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez (back) is active for Week 1 at Houston. Gonzalez, who played in just one game last season due to injury, has been fighting for reps behind Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, and he doesn't seem too happy about it. "What I wanted and what I was promised was an opportunity to compete for a job,'' Gonzalez said earlier in the week. "All I wanted was what was promised to me. I'm not sure either way that it did. I'm probably not the person to ask, really. Whether a job is open or competition takes place, is something that is determined by coaches, not players.''
Analysis: Gonzalez is healthy for Week 1 but he's still got Collie, Garcon, Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne to fight with for balls. Gonzalez, who has seven catches for 99 yards in four career games against the Texans, is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 1, even if he is healthy, due to the competition for catches in Indy.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (back) saw limited practice Thursday and Friday. He is listed as questionable for the Texans game Sunday.
Analysis: Gonzalez is a candidate to return punts on Sunday, but clearly that is now in question because of his injury. Gonzalez looked as though he was going to take on a bigger role in the Colts' offense last season after Marvin Harrison left, but got hurt and watched Collie and Garcon step up in his absence. Apparently, Gonzalez hasn't done enough to convince the coaches he is back to his old self. Gonzalez, who has seven catches for 99 yards in four career games against the Texans, is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 1, even if he is healthy.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who missed all but one game of last season with an injury, is unsure of what his role will be this season as Week 1 in Houston looms. Gonzalez is fighting for reps with Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, behind Reggie Wayne, after the two young receivers emerged in his absence last year. It sounds like Gonzalez is upset about how things shook out between him and the coaches this summer. "What I wanted and what I was promised was an opportunity to compete for a job,'' he said to the Indianapolis Star. "All I wanted was what was promised to me. I'm not sure either way that it did. I'm probably not the person to ask, really. Whether a job is open or competition takes place, is something that is determined by coaches, not players.''
Analysis: Gonzalez is definitely an unknown coming into Week 1 in Houston. The Texans have historically geared up on stopping Wayne, leaving some of the other receivers more open in the passing game. That could bode well for Gonzalez, who has seven catches for 99 yards in four career games against the Texans, but it sounds like he won't be a huge part of the offense. However, there is usually enough passes to go around when Peyton Manning is the quarterback but we can't label Gonzalez as anything greater than a reserve option among receivers for the Week 1 game.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez says that he's healthy for Sunday's game at Houston. That said, Gonzalez isn't certain what his role will be. "I have an idea what it's going to be," he said. "[But] until Sunday, I don't think it worth speculating."
Analysis: It is pretty clear that Gonzalez is the third option, at best, for the Colts' offense and Peyton Manning. Gonzalez will be healthy for the first time since 2008, when he caught 57 passes for 664 yards and four touchdowns. Injuries have consistently hampered him since and Fantasy owners will have no idea what to expect out of him in Week 1 at Houston. We can't label him anything better than a No. 4 or 5 Fantasy WR for the opening game.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez caught three passes for 31 yards in Thursday's preseason game at the Packers. He was targeted four times in the game. He has caught six passes for 57 yards combined over the team's first three preseason games.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been hampered by a lower leg strain in the preseason, but he was never expected to be in line for much playing time in the preseason as a player who has his role pretty well defined going into the season. Still, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie both stepped up last year with Gonzalez on the shelf, so the fourth-year player has to prove he is back 100 percent. Gonzalez is well worth drafting late on the hope that he can keep his body together and be a regular option in the Colts' offense. Don't expect him to be anything more than a reserve wideout to start the season, though.
News: For the second straight game, Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez saw limited preseason action against the Bills in Toronto on Thursday. He caught just two passes for eight yards. He was thrown to four times in the game, however. Gonzalez saw limited action in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers as well.

Don't expect him to be anything more than a reserve wideout to start the season, though.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez saw limited action in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers. He was questionable going into the game has he's been bothered by a lower leg strain. After missing most of last year due to an injury, the Colts are being cautious with Gonzalez. He was targeted twice, catching one pass for 18 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez has had some success as the Colts' slot receiver in the past. If he can stay healthy this year, he could contribute once again in Indy's potent offensive attack. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie both stepped up last year with Gonzalez on the shelf, so the fourth-year player has to prove he is back 100 percent. Fantasy owners should consider Gonzalez a late-round selection on Draft Day, in hopes he can be a regular option in the Colts' offense.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez may be held out of Sunday's preseason opener against San Francisco, according to coach Jim Caldwell. Gonzalez has been bothered by a lower leg strain this past week. Gonzalez said earlier in the week that he considered himself fully healthy, but the team will not take any chances with the young receiver who missed most of last season due to injury.
Analysis: Signs point to him regaining a prominent role in the Colts' offense if he can stay healthy. The big question is whether or not he can stay healthy for a full season. That's a big reason why owners are passing on him for other choices, including Indy's rookie sensation from a year ago Austin Collie. Fact is, Gonzalez is well worth drafting late on the hope that he can keep his body together and be a regular option in the Colts' offense. Don't expect him to be anything more than a reserve wideout to start the season, though.
News:Anthony Gonzalez caught 57 passes for 664 yards and four touchdowns in 2008 while becoming a trusted outlet for Peyton Manning. After Gonzalez was hurt in the season opener last year, he was nearly ready to return to the field several times. But it never happened because Gonzalez pushed himself too hard. "What probably hurt me the most was my own impatience," he said. "I was probably, let's say I was two or three weeks away from being healthy. I'd try to turn that into one, and boom, I'd have a re-injury. You just can't rush these things. It's a knee injury." Gonzalez remembered that this spring when he had a setback when he pulled a hamstring during organized team activities and didn't feel truly healthy until recently. "In terms of full-on, no-questions-asked healthy, I'd say about three or four weeks ago," he said.
Analysis: Coaches and players have spoken highly of Gonzalez this offseason, and signs point to him regaining a prominent role in the Colts' offense. The big question is whether or not he can stay healthy for a full season and put up a bunch of Fantasy points.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is happy to be back on the field after missing most of the 2009 season with a knee injury, reports the team's official website. "I've been telling everybody, 'I just want to practice,'" Gonzalez said. "Give me a practice: we'll start with that and then see how it goes." Colts QB Peyton Manning said Gonzalez has looked good in practice so far. "I know Anthony's happy to be out there," Manning said. "Every time Anthony's on the field he makes plays and big plays. He has made plays throughout his time here. It will be good to get him back out on the field." Gonzalez's return gives the Colts significant depth at the WR position, a spot where the Colts have not only Gonzalez and four-time Pro Bowl selection Reggie Wayne, but Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon. "There is going to be good healthy competition at the wide receiver position all across the board," Manning said. As for where Gonzalez will fit into that, he said he doesn't yet know, and not only that, it's something about which he said he's not worried. The idea now, he said, is to work and continue practicing.
Analysis: The Colts will likely use Gonzalez, Garcon and Collie in a variety of roles opposite Wayne, and each receiver will play a big part on offense. We expect Gonzalez to have a bounce-back year in 2010 as long as he can remain healthy. He should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day, and we like Gonzalez with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: With Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez apparently healthy again after knee and hamstring issues sidelined him last year and this past spring, Pierre Garcon has been getting work as a slot receiver in practice Wednesday. "Every time Anthony's on the field, he can make plays," QB Peyton Manning said. "You can count the big plays he's made throughout his time, so you want to get him on the field, and he's truly going to help out the offense."
Analysis: The Colts will likely line up Gonzalez, Garcon and Austin Collie in different spots with Reggie Wayne remaining the only constant of the receiving corps. We expect Gonzalez to have a bounce-back year in 2010 as long as he can remain healthy. He should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day, and we like Gonzalez with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: Head coach Jim Caldwell had some promising news for Colts fans. He said receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who missed all but the first quarter last season with a right knee injury, and safety Bob Sanders, who missed all but two games last year with knee and biceps injuries, are not expected to open practice on the physically unable to perform list. Gonzalez saw only limited work during the team's minicamps and went to Tennessee in July to work out exclusively with QB Peyton Manning and WR Austin Collie.
Analysis: The Colts are eager to get Gonzalez back in the WR mix after having to rely on a bunch of unknowns in 2009, mostly Pierre Garcon and Collie. As long as his knee holds up, Gonzalez has the chance to either feature opposite Reggie Wayne at wide receiver or work extensively in the slot. As long as Manning is under center, then that means good things. View Gonzalez as a late-round Fantasy sleeper on Draft Day.
News: In a Q&A with readers, Indianapolis Star Colts beat writer Mike Chappell suggests that Anthony Gonzalez is ahead of Austin Collie on the depth chart for the slot receiver job. Furthermore, he wrote that Gonzalez , and that Gonzalez "said he's been assured by the coaching staff that he'll be given an opportunity to compete with Garcon for the No. 2 spot alongside Wayne." Chappell's hunch is that Collie won't see as much playing time as he did last season. Gonzalez is working his way back from a knee injury that knocked him out of all but part of one game last season. Gonzalez is also dealing with a hamstring injury suffered earlier this spring.
Analysis: The Colts are loaded in their receiving corps with Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, but Gonzalez is expected to have a prominent role in the offense so long as he's healthy. He should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day and is worth a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell on Friday declined to discuss the specifics of why WR Anthony Gonzalez missed minicamp practice last weekend. "I can tell you this: He'll be fine," Caldwell said. It has been reported Gonzalez missed practice with a hamstring injury, which is unrelated in his comeback from last year's knee injury.
Analysis: While we're disappointed that Gonzalez is now dealing with a hamstring problem, this is encouraging news that Caldwell is counting on Gonzalez to be ready for the start of training camp. Colts QB Peyton Manning is also excited to have Gonzalez back and said his return is like adding a high-priced free agent. The Colts are loaded in their receiving corps with Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, but Gonzalez will have a prominent role in the offense. He should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day and is worth a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: The NFL Network reports Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez suffered a minor hamstring injury during his comeback from last year's knee injury, which is why he missed the recent minicamp. The report says the hamstring injury is unrelated to his knee problems, and he has looked good in recent practices prior to getting hurt. The date of Gonzalez's return is unknown, but he should be fine for the start of training camp.
Analysis: Gonzalez missed the 2009 season after being hurt in Week 1, but Gonzalez had been an emerging star for the Colts after being taken in the first round of the 2007 draft. He is now part of a crowded receiving corps with Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, but Gonzalez will see his share of playing time and targets. Colts QB Peyton Manning said with Gonzalez returning this season it could as deep as any receiver corps the Colts have had in his career. Garcon also said Manning "will find a way" to keep all the receivers involved this year. Gonzalez is worth drafting in all leagues with a late-round pick, and he should be considered a sleeper this season. He will fall in drafts, but look for him to post quality stats since he's one of Manning's favorite targets.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez was back on the sideline for the team's minicamp practices in early June. The team won't comment on injuries. Gonzalez was back on the field with the Colts during their May OTAs following close to nine months of rest and rehab for his injured knee.
Analysis: With teammate Reggie Wayne holding out of minicamp, this would have been the perfect opportunity for Gonzalez to pick up first-team reps with Peyton Manning. This should be considered yet another warning flag for anyone interested in drafting Gonzalez. Spending a fairly worthwhile pick on the injury-prone receiver isn't recommended; leave him until the end of drafts, if at all, since he's no lock to play 16 games or see lots of playing time now that Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie (both of whom took reps with Manning during minicamp) have entrenched themselves in the Colts offense.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who is coming back from last year's knee injury that cost him most of the 2009 season, said he doesn't know how the WR rotation will look this year. Gonzalez is competing with Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie for playing time behind No. 1 WR Reggie Wayne. "Every one of the receivers is going to prepare like crazy and 'earn that spot,' whatever it is," Gonzalez said. "That's kind of my approach."
Analysis: Gonzalez has a lot to prove this year with the emergence of Garcon and Collie behind Wayne and Dallas Clark, but QB Peyton Manning is fond of Gonzalez. We see Gonzalez as a sleeper in 2010 because he will fall in drafts, but he should still play a prominent role in the Colts' offense. Plan on drafting Gonzalez with a late-round pick in all leagues. Garcon has slightly more value based on the way he played last year and should be considered a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR. And Collie will likely see plenty of playing time, but he should be considered a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR at best.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez isn't where he wants to be yet in his recovery from last year's knee injury, which forced him from all but one game last season. But he's getting there. "I don't know if I'll be 100 percent ever again with my knee," Gonzalez said. "I know I'm pretty darn close. My speed is back."
Analysis: It appears like Gonzalez will be ready for the start of training camp, and that's a good sign. He has a lot to prove this year with the emergence of Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie behind Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark, but QB Peyton Manning is fond of Gonzalez. We see Gonzalez as a sleeper in 2010 because he will fall in drafts, but he should still play a prominent role in the Colts' offense. Plan on drafting Gonzalez with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: WR Anthony Gonzalez, after missing all but one game last season with a knee injury, worked with the Colts at OTAs Thursday. Noting that it just felt good to be part of the team again, Gonzalez said he doesn't know what the receiver rotation will be this season, but he said he has been told he will get a chance to compete for the outside WR position. "That's the goal, yes," he said.
Analysis: Gonzalez is expected to get a fair role at the very least with the Colts this season after missing nearly all of last season. But in missing most of 2009, he saw Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie step in and do better than he ever did with the team. Gonzalez will have a lot of good talent to compete with, but his biggest foe is his own health as he's missed 18 games in three seasons. Gonzalez is a very safe flier with a late-round pick in drafts now, though if he can put together a nice training camp and preseason his stock will surely rise.
News: The Indianapolis Star speculates that Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez might not be ready for the start of training camp after injuring his knee in Week 1 of the 2009 season and missing the rest of the year. In a Q&A session with readers, Colts beat writer Mike Chappell was asked how the rehab for Gonzalez and safety Bob Sanders was going. "Every indication is that Sanders and Gonzalez are on schedule with their rehabs," Chappell wrote. "I'm not certain if each will be medically cleared for 100 percent participation in training camp, but I'm expecting them to be ready for the start of the regular season."
Analysis: Gonzalez told CBSSports.com in February that his knee is "feeling good" and "feels pretty solid." He said then his plan was to be ready for the start of the 2010 season. "There's no doubt about that," Gonzalez said. We look for Gonzalez to be in the mix for the No. 2 WR spot behind Reggie Wayne. If he's not 100 percent then he will be behind Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, but if he's ready for the start of training camp he has a viable chance to start. Continue to monitor what happens with Gonzalez prior to the season, but he's worth drafting with a late-round pick in all leagues. And if he's given the starting role, which he had prior to getting hurt, then his value will rise as the season gets closer.
News: In an interview with CBSSports.com at Super Bowl media day, Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez said his knee is "feeling good" and "feels pretty solid." Gonzalez was placed on injured reserve after getting hurt in Week 1 of the 2009 season. He will not play in the Super Bowl against New Orleans, but he does plan to be ready for the start of the 2010 season. "There's no doubt about that," Gonzalez said. "The MRI has looked good. Everything is going according to plan. It's obviously frustrating because it didn't happen sooner, but there's no question that I'll be back playing next year." Gonzalez said he has made progress since the injury and is starting to get close to 100 percent. "It wasn't that it was bad. It just never turned the corner," he said. "Now that I've kind of shut it down and had time to just focus on rehab it has really gotten a lot better. When you're rehabbing during the season you're constantly pushing the envelope trying to get back on the field at less than 100 percent. Now that I'm actually focused on just rehab the knee is getting significantly better. I probably couldn't have played last week, but I could play this week."
Analysis: This is a good sign that Gonzalez will be back in time for the start of the season. He will have to prove himself again since the Colts moved on and did well with Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie along with Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. But Gonzalez will definitely play a prominent role for the Colts next year and should be considered a quality Fantasy option. We'll find out how the Colts will use Gonzalez, but plan on drafting him with a mid-round pick in all formats. He has the potential to be a great sleeper in 2010.
News: The Colts have put WR Anthony Gonzalez on injured reserve, ending his season. Gonzalez sprained ligaments in his right knee in the season opener and later had arthroscopic surgery on the knee, delaying his return.
Analysis: Gonzalez practiced Monday but sat out Wednesday, prompting Thursday's announcement. Feel free to release him in all seasonal formats, but he's definitely someone worth hanging on to in keeper leagues because he's young and talented.
News: The Colts' list of inactives for Week 15 at Jacksonville includes K Adam Vinatieri, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Jerraud Powers, DB Aaron Francisco, TE Tom Santi and DL Ervin Baldwin.
Analysis: Gonzalez is pretty much a lost cause this season because of a knee injury. Same goes for Vinatieri, who hasn't played since Week 5. None of the other players listed here ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez will miss another game in Week 15 at Jacksonville. He hasn't practiced this week with his knee injury that has sidelined him most of the season. Gonzalez will not play on Thursday night.
Analysis: Gonzalez had arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose particles in the knee back in November, and the undefeated Colts are in no hurry to bring him back. He's a long shot to make a Fantasy contribution this season, so you shouldn't feel obligated to stash him.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez was again inactive for Week 14 against Denver. He continues to deal with a knee injury that has kept him out since Week 1.

News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who hasn't played since spraining his knee in Week 1, missed another practice Thursday as the team prepares for Week 13 against the Titans. He also missed practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Gonzalez had arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose particles in the knee back in November, and the undefeated Colts are in no hurry to bring him back. Since he's not practicing, you can pretty much assume he won't return this week. He's a long shot to make a Fantasy contribution this season, so you shouldn't feel obligated to stash him.
News: The Colts listed the following players as inactive for Week 12 at Houston: DL Dwight Freeney, QB Jim Sorgi, K Adam Vinatieri, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Aaron Francisco, DL Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Freeney, Vinatieri and Gonzalez have been dealing with lingering injuries all season and have not been much help in Fantasy. None of the other players listed have any Fantasy appeal. Leave them reserved in all formats.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) will miss the team's Week 12 game at Houston.
Analysis: We're getting the feeling that Gonzalez is a lost cause for Fantasy owners this season. If you'd like to keep him and hope that you have him for your Fantasy postseason run, then by all means do it. But if you're competing for a playoff spot in your league, you're doing so without Gonzalez in your lineup from week to week anyway. Keep him on the bench in all formats Week 12.
News: The Colts have listed the following players as inactive for Week 11 at Baltimore: K Adam Vinatieri, QB Jim Sorgi, DB Kelvin Hayden, RB Mike Hart, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Aaron Francisco and TE Gijon Robinson.
Analysis: Vinatieri and Gonzalez, the only guys on this list with any Fantasy value, should be back soon, so just continue to stash them away. The others can all continue to be ignored.

News: Colts QB Jim Sorgi, K Adam Vinatieri, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Kelvin Hayden, DB Aaron Francisco and TE Tom Santi have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 10 game against the Patriots.
Analysis: Vinatieri and Gonzalez will have significant Fantasy value when they return, but it is hard to say when that will be. The rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) remained out of practiceall week as the team prepares for its Week 10 game against the Patriots. He has been ruled out of the game. The Colts announced last Friday that Gonzalez underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery last Thursday to clean out loose particles. A timetable for his return was not determined by the team, but he's expected to miss at least two more weeks as is typical of arthroscopic surgeries. Gonzalez suffered a recent setback in practice that led to last Thursday's procedure.
Analysis: We're getting the feeling that Gonzalez is a lost cause for Fantasy owners this season. He'll miss at least another two games for sure, and then who knows how soon he'll be at 100 percent and on the field. If you'd like to keep him and hope that you have him for your Fantasy postseason run, then by all means do it. But if you're competing for a playoff spot in your league, you're doing so without Gonzalez in your lineup from week to week anyway.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is out, as expected, for Week 9 against the Texans. A timetable for his return was not determined by the team, but he's expected to miss at least two more weeks as is typical of arthroscopic surgeries. But if you're competing for a playoff spot in your league, you're doing so without Gonzalez in your lineup from week to week anyway. There could be someone more helpful available on waivers. He's become a low-end reserve with limited upside whose knee injury cost Fantasy owners a season brimming with promise.
News: The status of Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) remains uncertain, coach Jim Caldwell said Monday. He has been out since Week 1 and worked a bit last week, but did not participate in team drills. "I'm not sure we're going to get much out of him this week," Caldwell said as the Colts face Houston in Week 9. He was held out of practice on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Analysis: It sounds like Gonzalez will be out for another game in Week 9. It's time to consider dropping him in the majority of Fantasy leagues unless you can afford to stash him. He could still be two to three weeks away from making a strong contribution to your Fantasy team, and the Colts might want to save him to make sure he is 100 percent healthy for the playoffs. Continue to monitor his status, but don't plan on using him against the Texans.
News: The Colts have announced the inactives for Week 8 vs. San Francisco: K Adam Vinatieri, QB Curtis Painter, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB T.J. Rushing, DB Marlin Jackson and RB Donald Brown.
Analysis: Vinatieri, Gonzalez and Brown all have solid Fantasy value, but were either out or doubtful coming in to Sunday, so you should already have prepared for their absence. The others can all continue to be ignored.
News: The Colts have ruled out WR Anthony Gonzalez for Week 8 after he didn't make any progress off the practice field this week. Expect Pierre Garcon to see playing time in his place with Austin Collie working in the slot.
Analysis: The Colts might just wait until Gonzalez is really ready to play before bringing him back. After all, they're winning games without him and don't need him back right away. Keep him benched or on waivers depending on the size of your league's rosters.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez was not able to return to practice on Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 8 game against San Francisco. On Wednesday, Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Gonzalez could make his return to practice at some point this week. "I suspect we'll get a little practice out of him this week," Caldwell said. "I'm not sure how much. We'll see how he does throughout the week." Caldwell added that Gonzalez's status won't hinge on Reggie Wayne's status for Week 8 against the 49ers as Wayne deals with a groin strain.
Analysis: Fantasy owners who have patiently held on to Gonzalez since Week 1 might get to see their man back on the field on Sunday although it seems more unlikely now that he didn't practice Thursday. We'll keep you posted on his progress the rest of the week as he nears a comeback from a sprained knee ligament. If he does play, expect him to be eased back into action since it's been a couple of months since he's played ball. We might not really see him play to the potential we had hoped from him this season until Week 9 or 10, but at least he's close to returning.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez may return to practice on a limited basis this week, coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday. He has been out since Week 1, but participated in a walkthrough.

News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee), who has been out since Week 1, is beginning to work on a limited basis. Coach Jim Caldwell said Monday that Gonzalez could be close to a return to action. "He feels really good about where he is," Caldwell said. Gonzalez ran routes Saturday and Caldwell said he may practice in some capacity this week heading into Week 8 against San Francisco.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Gonzalez's status heading into the game with the 49ers. We're hopeful Gonzalez can return soon, and he would be a No. 3 Fantasy WR against San Francisco. Continue to monitor his health and hope for a return to practice this week.
News: The following players have been declared inactive for Indianapolis' Week 7 game at St. Louis: QB Curtis Painter, CB Tim Jennings, RB Mike Hart, WR Anthony Gonzalez, CB Marlin Jackson and K Adam Vinatieri.
Analysis: Gonzalez was ruled out earlier this week, but should be back soon. Vinatieri, meanwhile, is out for another few weeks. The other guys have no Fantasy value.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) will not return for the team's Week 7 game against the Rams as he has was ruled out on Friday. Gonzalez has been out since spraining ligaments in his right knee during a season-opening 14-12 victory over Jacksonville, and he has not practiced since. Gonzalez was primed to take over the No. 2 receiving spot after Marvin Harrison was released in the offseason, but the non-contact injury derailed those plans. Gonzalez was not able to participate in practice all week although he is expected to be close to returning.
Analysis: Gonzalez was not able to return to practice on Friday and has not unexpectedly been ruled out for Week 7. He could however be back for the team's Week 8 game against San Francisco. Monitor his status next week before making a decision on him.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is almost ready to return to action. Coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that Gonzalez is feeling good, and he could practice this week. He did not practice Wednesday.
Analysis: We'll see what happens with Gonzalez on Friday and if he's able to get back on the field. This would be a good week for him to return with the matchup at St. Louis. Continue to monitor his status, but you should be cautious with Gonzalez because he could be rusty after missing so much time with the injury.
News: Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who has not practiced since spraining ligaments in his right knee in the Colts' season-opener, has started running again though it's not clear when Gonzalez may return to the field. Head coach Jim Caldwell doesn't have a sense for when he can return. "I'm not real sure. I know he feels good about his progress," Caldwell said. "I know he's out there running."
Analysis: While Gonzalez has missed playing time, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie have emerged at different times for the Colts and have been more than acceptable replacements. There are no guarantees that even when he's healthy that Gonzalez will see a ton of work since Garcon and Collie have been useful in his place. For now, Gonzalez is still worth stashing on rosters but expectations should begin to decline a little bit.
News: The Colts have announced the inactives for their Week 5 game at Tennessee: QB Curtis Painter, WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Bob Sanders, DB Kelvin Hayden, DB Marlin Jackson, RB Mike Hart and DL Fili Moala.
Analysis: Gonzalez and Sanders are the guys with the most Fantasy value in this group, but had already been declared out. The others can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez has been ruled out of the team's Week 5 game at Tennessee as he continues to rehab from a knee injury.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Gonzalez as the Colts are heading nto their bye in Week 6 after Sunday's game at Tennessee. The hope is Gonzalez can return in Week 7 at St. Louis, but keep him reserved in all leagues against the Titans.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, out since Week 1 with a knee injury, is "rehabbing and coming along," coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday. "He's doing everything we expect him to do at this point in time," Caldwell said. Gonzalez was again held out of practice on Thursday.
Analysis: It sounds like Gonzalez will be out again for Week 5 at Tennessee. Keep an eye on what happens with Gonzalez as the Colts head toward their bye in Week 6. The hope is Gonzalez can return in Week 7 at St. Louis, but keep him reserved in all leagues against the Titans.
News: The Colts have listed their inactives for Week 4 vs. Seattle: WR Anthony Gonzalez, DB Bob Sanders, DB Kelvin Hayden, LB Gary Brackett, DL Fili Moala and QB Curtis Painter.
Analysis: Gonzalez and Sanders are the guys with the most Fantasy value in this group, but had already been declared out. Brackett can be a low-end starting LB in IDP leagues and should be benched. The others can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Week 4 against Seattle, as expected. He is still dealing with a knee injury suffered in Week 1 and could be out several more weeks.
Analysis: There is a chance he could return prior to expected, but that definitely will not be in Week 4. Keep him reserved in all leagues until further notice and continue to monitor his progress leading up to the team's Week 5 game at Tennessee.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) was once again not able to practice Thursday. He is still dealing with a knee injury suffered in Week 1 and could be out several more weeks.
Analysis: There is a chance he could return prior to expected, but the chances are slim to none that it will be in Week 4. Keep him reserved in all leagues until further notice.
News: Colts starting WR Anthony Gonzalez could not practice once again on Wednesday as Indy prepares to host Seattle in Week 4. Gonzalez is still dealing with a knee injury suffered in Week 1 and could be out several more weeks.
Analysis: Gonzalez will be replaced by Austin Collie in the starting lineup, but keep Gonzalez reserved and hope he can return soon. There's a chance he could return prior to expected but the chances are slim to none that it will be in Week 4.
News: The following players were named inactive by the Colts for their Week 3 game at Arizona: WR Anthony Gonzalez, QB Curtis Painter, SS Bob Sanders, CB Kelvin Hayden, LB Gary Brackett and DT Fili Moala.
Analysis: Gonzalez and Sanders are Fantasy-viable players when healthy, but they had already been declared out earlier this week. The others are all not worth worrying about in Fantasy play.
News: The Colts kept injured WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) out Week 3's game at Arizona. He is expected to be out for up to eight weeks after getting hurt in Week 1.
Analysis: Gonzalez will be replaced by Austin Collie in the starting lineup, but keep Gonzalez reserved and hope he can return soon. There's a chance he could return prior to the eight weeks, and the hope he is back after the team's bye week Oct. 18.
News: The Colts kept injured WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) out for Monday's game at Miami.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez could miss up to eight weeks with sprained ligaments in his right knee. Coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that Gonzalez could miss two to eight weeks. He would not confirm that the team has signed veteran receiver Hank Baskett. Three-time MVP Peyton Manning, however, told reporters that the Colts wanted to get Baskett up to speed as soon as possible going into Monday's game against Miami. Gonzalez is definitely out for Week 2's game.
Analysis: If you have the roster space, keep Gonzalez on your bench and hope for a speedy recovery. But if he's out eight weeks, that's the majority of the Fantasy season, and he's not worth holding onto with that prognosis. Still, keep an eye on what happens in the next week or so to get a better idea of how long his recovery will be. In deeper leagues, if you're looking for a replacement, Baskett could be a good addition.

Three-time MVP Peyton Manning, however, told reporters that the Colts wanted to get Baskett up to speed as soon as possible going into Monday's game against Miami. Adding Baskett would give the Colts four healthy receivers on the active roster - Pro Bowler Reggie Wayne, second-year pro Pierre Garcon and rookie Austin Collie. Gonzalez hurt his right knee during Sunday's 14-12 victory over Jacksonville. The Indianapolis Star, however, reports Gonzalez will not require surgery and could return after the team's bye week Oct. 18, which would mean he would miss four games.
Analysis: If you have the roster space, keep Gonzalez on your bench and hope for a speedy recovery. News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell says he is waiting to meet with team doctors about Anthony Gonzalez's right knee injury. He can't say how long the third-year receiver might be out but he did say he is being cautious. Gonzalez hurt the knee in Sunday's 14-12 victory over Jacksonville, a play in which he crumpled to the ground without touching another player.
Analysis:Sports Illustrated reported Sunday night that Gonzalez had a sprained PCL in his knee and would miss anywhere from two to six weeks. Gonzalez has the chance to replace Marvin Harrison in the Colts offense this season, so hopefully this injury doesn't put him out for too long or hamper his ability to come back strong. He has the talent and is in the right offense to be a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR when healthy.
News:Sports Illustrated reports that Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez suffered a strained PCL in his knee during a Week 1 win over the Jaguars. He could miss anywhere from two to six weeks, but the team is not expected to re-sign Marvin Harrison. Instead, WRs Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon will fill in for Gonzalez while he's out.
Analysis: This is actually promising news for Gonzalez's owners, as it looked more like a ligament tear when he crumpled to the ground without even being touched on Sunday. Gonzalez has the chance to replace Marvin Harrison in the Colts offense this season, so hopefully this injury doesn't put him out for too long or hamper his ability the rest of the year. He has the talent to be a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR when healthy.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez left Sunday's Week 1 game vs. the Jaguars with a right knee injury. Gonzalez wasn't touched on the play in which he was hurt. He started his route, then fell to the ground. He was helped off the field and put no pressure on the right leg. His return was listed as questionable.
Analysis: Gonzalez's knee seemed to just collapse on him, which isn't a good sign at all. Gonzalez has the chance to replace Marvin Harrison in the Colts offense this season and become a stud Fantasy WR, but this knee injury might put a stop to that. We will update you on this situation when more information becomes available.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez has only played four games in his career against his Week 1 opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gonzalez caught four passes for 38 yards the last time he took the field against them last season in Jacksonville. Earlier last year, the last time they met in Indy, Gonzalez caught two balls for 37 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez has seven career catches against Jacksonville for a total of 97 yards and no touchdowns but that all came when he was at least the No. 3 option behind Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison. Harrison is gone now and Gonzalez is firmly implanted as the No. 2 option behind Wayne. Wayne has owned the Jaguars over the years and that could leave Gonzalez open for Peyton Manning to find. In theory, Gonzalez should be a sensational Fantasy option because he's starting in Harrison's old spot in a strong passing offense. Still, he's nowhere near the ability of Harrison just yet in his young career. We would call Gonzalez a No. 2 Fantasy WR option in Week 1.
News: In the Colts' third preseason game at the Lions, WR Anthony Gonzalez caught two passes for 17 yards but dropped a sure touchdown pass when Peyton Manning put the ball in a perfect spot for the third-year receiver to reel it in. It was the last pass Gonzalez was targeted for on the day.
Analysis: In theory, Gonzalez should be a sensational Fantasy option because he's starting in Marvin Harrison's old spot in a strong passing offense. But Gonzalez's drop highlights that he's not as polished as Harrison was, which Fantasy owners need to remember. Ultimately, he's going to play a lot and catch his fair share of passes, so save for a complete meltdown you can expect him to be a good No. 3 option with potential to be a No. 2 as the season goes on. Gonzalez is worth a pick between Rounds 6 and 9 in drafts this summer.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring) played in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles. QB Peyton Manning took Indy 81 yards on the opening series, closing it with a 3-yard TD pass to Gonzalez, who was targeted the previous play on a slant into the end zone which was broken up by Asante Samuel. Gonzalez finished with just two catches for four yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez was held out of the preseason opener against the Vikings with a minor hamstring issue but it was nothing ever threatening his season. Gonzalez is expected to fill the shoes of Colts great Marvin Harrison. If he lives up to the potential that means Gonzalez is in for a big year catching passes from Manning. Gonzalez is more of a No. 3 Fantasy WR Draft Day, but there is clearly potential for him to move up the rankings.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is one of several starters who won't play vs. the Vikings in the team's first preseason game. He is a new addition to the injury list as Head Coach Jim Caldwell blamed a strained hamstring for the rest.
Analysis: Gonzalez is one of the trendy players in Fantasy as people expect him to fully make up for the departure of Marvin Harrison. We think he'll see a jump in stats, but it remains to be seen if he can get close to 1,000 yards and six-plus touchdowns. Remember, he'll still be sharing the field with Reggie Wayne and TE Dallas Clark and he's still working on his game. But he also is a third-year receiver working in an awesome offense, playing a fairly easy schedule. Consider him a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy receiver worth a pick between Rounds 6 and 7.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez understands that the stakes have increased dramatically this season. When the Colts released Marvin Harrison, the league's No. 2 all-time receiver, to save about $6 million under the salary cap, Reggie Wayne became the uncontested No. 1 option and Gonzalez, the Colts top draft pick in 2007, moved from No. 3 to No. 2. He'll play in Harrison's old spot on the right side. Thus, Gonzalez could be headed for his biggest season yet even though Manning has acknowledged he will probably look more to the left side, where Wayne customarily lines up. Gonzalez contends it's a matter of trust. "It does take a while to earn it," Gonzalez said.
Analysis: We think Manning won't mind firing at Gonzalez, though the looks won't come very often. Remember, Gonzalez might be the Colts' No. 2 receiver, but he's No. 3 on the pecking order behind Wayne and TE Dallas Clark. Continue to view Gonzalez as a good No. 3 Fantasy WR worth a mid-round pick as he'll see plenty of playing time in 2009.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell is impressed with his two veteran receivers in Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez. Caldwell knows there is a void with Marvin Harrison now gone, but he's confident Wayne and Gonzalez will pick up the slack. "Reggie has been playing extremely well and has been playing at a Pro Bowl level for quite some time," Caldwell said on the team's official web site. "Anthony Gonzalez, all he's done is continue to get better and better each and every year."
Analysis: We think Gonzalez is in line for a big season as he enters his third year and his first as a starter opposite Wayne. He might not replace Harrison's production right away, but he's a good No. 3 Fantasy WR coming into the year and is worth a mid-round pick.
News: Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez missed the team's practice Sunday because of an injured right leg. Coach Jim Caldwell didn't give details about the injury, which occurred during Saturday's mini-camp practice at Franklin College. Gonzalez stayed on the field after hurting his leg, but spent the rest of practice stretching it out. Caldwell said Gonzalez, who's expected to replace Marvin Harrison in the Colts' lineup, could return to the field Tuesday or Wednesday when Indianapolis finishes its scheduled offseason workouts.
Analysis: The Colts are downplaying the injury, so this might not be anything to worry about. If Gonzalez misses practice this week, then we'd worry. For now, continue to view Gonzalez as a quality No. 3 Fantasy WR worth a mid-round pick as he'll see plenty of playing time in 2009.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez has big shoes to fill with Marvin Harrison now gone. The Indianapolis Star reports that Gonzalez is expected to start for Harrison on the right side of the offense with Reggie Wayne remaining in his role on the left side. Gonzalez followed an adequate rookie season in 2007 (37 receptions, 576 yards, three TDs) by elevating his game last year (57, 664, four). "I'm not taking anything for granted, I can tell you that," Gonzalez said. "I'm going to work as hard as I ever have and try to earn whatever extra reps I happen to get. I don't plan on being given anything and I'm definitely not expecting to be given anything."
Analysis: Gonzalez should be in line for a breakout season. This is his third year in the NFL, which is typically the season when receivers have a breakout year. He also inherits a starting job in an offense that should thrive, and playing with Peyton Manning will make him an elite option. Plan on drafting Gonzalez as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR, and he's worth a draft pick around Round 5 or 6 in all formats.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez made six catches for 97 yards in a 23-17 overtime loss to the Chargers in the Wild Card playoffs in San Diego.
Analysis: Gonzalez is the second option in Indianapolis, having surpasses Marvin Harrison. However, he's nowhere near Reggie Wayne in terms of ability, so next season he should be viewed as only a No. 3 receiving option in Fantasy drafts.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had just one catch for 12 yards in Week 17 against Tennessee as the team took out most of their starters in the first half in order to rest them for the playoffs. Gonzalez finished the season with 57 catches for 664 yards and four touchdowns.
Analysis: Gonzalez was a secondary option in the passing game for the Colts, but that's not such a bad thing considering the potent offense. In the playoffs, view him as a No. 3 receiving option due to the reduced player pool. He'll be worth drafting in any format next summer as a matchup-type receiver who can be used when facing favorable matchups.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez started for injured receiver Marvin Harrison in Week 16's win over the Jaguars on Thursday night but played as if he hadn't. Gonzalez only made four grabs for 38 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez has just five catches over his last two games and he and Peyton Manning have yet to really connect for any big game this season. He only gets a few catches per game but that could change in Week 17 as coach Tony Dungy expects to rest his starters against the Titans. Gonzalez could see more balls come his way in the final week of the season and might be worth starting in deeper leagues.
News: WR Marvin Harrison has been ruled out of Week 16's game at Jacksonville on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. Harrison was originally dealing with a knee injury and underwent an MRI, but the problem Thursday is due to a hamstring problem. It is the first game Harrison has missed this season.
Analysis: Harrison has essentially become the Colts' third-best Fantasy option behind Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. Anthony Gonzalez should get more looks with Harrison not playing in Week 16. Keep Harrison reserved against the Jaguars and plan on using Gonzalez as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Colts receiver Marvin Harrison underwent an MRI on Wednesday and is questionable for Thursday night's game at Jacksonville. Harrison, who apparently hurt his knee against Detroit on Sunday, "actually has a hamstring issue," coach Tony Dungy said Wednesday. Anthony Gonzalez would take Harrison's place in the starting lineup.
Analysis: With the Colts eyeing the postseason and clearly taking a "play it safe" approach with all of their players, Harrison shouldn't be expected to play at Jacksonville. Moreover, if he were to play the expectations are slim because he's not the same receiver outdoors on grass as he is indoors, especially at home. Gonzalez is more of an appealing Fantasy option now -- he won't lose targets to Harrison, and he's a pretty good receiver on grass compared to some of his teammates. Figure Harrison as an unstartable option while Gonzalez fits in as a No. 3 receiver in spite of his poor history against Jacksonville.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez had his worst week since Week 5 at Houston in Week 15's win over the Lions. Gonzalez made just one catch in the game for a total of six yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez scored a touchdown in Week 14's game against the Bengals but the Lions defensive backs held the Colts receivers down. He's never going to give you huge numbers but he's been consistent for most of the year as a low-end Fantasy WR. The Colts play at Jacksonville in Week 16 and Gonzalez made two grabs for 37 yards the last time the team's faced in Week 3.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez caught three balls for 27 yards and a score in Week 14's thrashing of the Bengals. Gonzalez caught a 2-yard TD pass from Peyton Manning on the first drive of the second half to make the score 21-3.
Analysis: Gonzalez now has four touchdowns on the season and two in his last three games. Gonzalez is primarily a low-end Fantasy WR but gets a boost in value against a hapless Lions defense in Week 15.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez (shoulder) is active for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Bengals, according to Fantasy Football Today.
Analysis: Gonzalez was healthy all week until Friday, but we think he's fine for Sunday's game to play at full strength. He can have the occasional big game, but he has to split looks with Marvin Harrison. Gonzalez is primarily a low-end Fantasy WR and should be treated as such against the Bengals.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 14 vs. Cincinnati. He did not practice Friday after doing so the previous two days. Gonzalez had just two catches for 13 yards Week 13 against the Browns.
Analysis: Gonzalez was healthy all week until Friday and now his status for Week 14 is up in the air. He can have the occasional big game, but he has to split looks with Marvin Harrison. Gonzalez is primarily a low-end Fantasy WR and this injury is likely a good reason to sit him Week 14.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had only 13 yards receiving Week 13 at Cleveland -- his fewest since Week 5 at Houston. He had two receptions.
Analysis: Gonzalez can have the occasional big game, but he has to split looks with Marvin Harrison. You also can't expect him to perform well when QB Peyton Manning throws for only 125 yards, like he did Sunday. He has a decent chance of playing well Week 14 against the Bengals, though, so use him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown Sunday at San Diego. He led the Colts in receiving yards -- ahead of Reggie Wayne (34 yards), Marvin Harrison (44 yards) and Dallas Clark (30 yards).
Analysis: Gonzalez was labeled a good sleeper option in Start 'Em and Sit 'Em this past week because of his matchup at San Diego. He has another good matchup in Week 13 at Cleveland so consider him a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez caught two passes for 35 yards on Sunday of Week 11 in a 33-27 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Gonzalez has six catches for 61 yards in his last two games with zero touchdowns. He's got two touchdowns on the season and they both came against New England in Week 9. Gonzalez is really only a low-end No. 3 Fantasy receiver but he's more than that in Week 12 at San Diego. The Chargers are the worst passing defense in the NFL.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez is active in Week 11 against Houston in Indianapolis.
Analysis: Gonzalez caught four of the six passes thrown his way for 26 yards during a Week 10 win against the Steelers. His longest catch went 12 yards. He still has just one 100-yard game in 2008. Gonzalez was coming off a two-touchdown performance Week 9 against the Patriots and had a big letdown Week 10. Not surprising seeing how Gonzalez has delivered erratic performances all season. Gonzalez can sometimes be treated as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, but until he gets a bit more consistent, he probably has less value than that.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 11 vs. Houston. He returned to practice Friday after sitting out the previous two days and coach Tony Dungy told NFL.com he expected Gonzalez to play against the Texans. Gonzalez had just one catch for three yards in his first matchup against Houston this season.

Gonzalez can sometimes be treated as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, but until he gets a bit more consistent, he probably has less value than that.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring) did not practice for the second straight day on Thursday in preparation for Week 11 against the Houston Texans. Gonzalez caught four passes Week 10 for 26 yards. Coach Tony Dungy expects Gonzalez to be ready to play against the Texans on Sunday.
Analysis: Gonzalez was coming off a two-touchdown performance Week 9 against the Patriots and had a big letdown Week 10. Not surprising seeing how Gonzalez has delivered erratic performances all season. Gonzalez can sometimes be treated as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, but until he gets a bit more consistent, he probably has less value than that. The Colts play the Texans Week 11. Gonzalez had just one catch for three yards in his first matchup against Houston this season. Continue to check back leading up to the game to find out if he'll be healthy enough to play.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez caught four of the six passes thrown his way for 26 yards during a Week 10 win against the Steelers. His longest catch went 12 yards. He still has just one 100-yard game in 2008.
News: Colts second-year WR Anthony Gonzalez, who caught two touchdown passes in Week 9, has impressed his coaches and teammates with how quickly he's learned the offense. "He's learned a lot about what we do, and what makes it work," coach Tony Dungy said. "It's easier to understand those little adjustments now, and the fact that he's in there on third downs says a lot about him."
Analysis: Gonzalez is capable of big Fantasy outings like he had in Week 9, but they don't happen on a regular basis because Peyton Manning likes to spread the ball around. Still, Gonzalez remains a No. 3 Fantasy WR in all leagues. He has a tough matchup, though, Week 10 at Pittsburgh.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had four catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against New England. These were Gonzalez's first two touchdowns of the season.
Analysis: Gonzalez is capable of big Fantasy outings like this, but it doesn't happen on a regular basis because Peyton Manning likes to spread the ball around. Still, Gonzalez remains a No. 3 Fantasy WR in all leagues and can be started as a No. 2 option when the matchup is right. Hopefully he continues to play like this and Manning continues to look in his direction. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 option in Week 10 at the Steelers.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had only 27 yards receiving on four catches Week 8 at Tennessee. He was coming off a five-catch, 72-yard performance.
Analysis: Gonzalez has topped the 50-yard mark only twice this season, so he hasn't exactly picked up Marvin Harrison's slack. Still, he remains usable as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR because of his upside. The Colts host the Patriots in Week 9.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez hauled in five receptions for 72 yards during a Week 7 loss to the Packers. His longest reception went for 34 yards. Gonzalez had a 15-yard touchdown reception come off the board in the fourth quarter after the replay assistant challenged it with 1:54 to play. He ruled that Gonzalez lost possession as he went to the ground and the pass was incomplete.
Analysis: Gonzalez sustained a head injury Week 5 against the Texans, but didn't miss a game and has remained productive in the Colts lineup. However, he still doesn't have a touchdown as QB Peyton Manning struggles in the pocket. Gonzalez has potential, but is more of a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option heading into Week 8 against the Packers.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez started Week 6 against Baltimore after being limited with a head injury all week. He finished with four catches for 33 yards Sunday.
Analysis: Gonzalez hasn't played well since Week 2 at Minnesota when he had nine catches for 137 yards. For now, consider Gonzalez a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 7 at Green Bay and hope he can get back to playing like he did against the Vikings.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez is active for Week 6 against Baltimore. Gonzalez left Week 5 at Houston with a concussion and was limited in practice.
Analysis: Consider Gonzalez a No. 4 Fantasy WR against the Ravens, and he should only be started in most leagues if you are in need of a WR.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 6 vs. Baltimore. Gonzalez has practiced in full the last two days after sitting out Wednesday.
Analysis: Gonzalez sustained a hit to the head Week 5 against Houston, and the Colts policy is to usually rest a player who sustains a head injury the following week. It's still an option for Gonzalez, but since he has practiced the last two days, he could be ready to play. Even if that happens, Gonzalez remains a low-end Fantasy WR.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (concussion) did not practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 6 vs. Baltimore. Gonzalez sustained a hit to the head Week 5 against Houston. Head coach Tony Dungy told NFL.com that he doesn't know Gonzalez's status for Sunday.
Analysis: Gonzalez was held to one catch in the comeback victory over Houston and has really been struggling to get involved in the Colts offense the last couple of games. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 6 against Baltimore if he's healthy enough to play. But start preparing to use healthier alternatives.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez injured his head during Sunday's game against the Texans. Head coach Tony Dungy said Gonzalez, the Colts' first round pick in 2007, seemed all right on Monday.
Analysis: Gonzalez was held to one catch in the comeback victory over Houston and has really been struggling to get involved in the Colts offense the last couple of games. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 6 against Baltimore if he's healthy enough to play.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez left Indianapolis' Week 5 win over the Texans in the second half with an unknown injury.
Analysis: Gonzalez was held to one catch in the comeback victory over Houston and has really been struggling to get involved in the Colts offense the last couple of games. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 6 against Baltimore if he's healthy enough to play.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had one catch for 3 yards Sunday at Houston. This was Gonzalez's worst game of the season.
Analysis: Gonzalez now has three catches for 40 yards after catching nine passes for 137 yards in Week 2. But this is what you have to expect for Gonzalez with everyone healthy for the Colts with Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison and Dallas Clark on the field. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 6 against Baltimore.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez will be looking to bounce back from a slow performance in Week 3 against the Jaguars when he had just two catches for 37 yards in Week 5 at Houston. The Texans have allowed 181 yards per game in three games, good for ninth in the NFL against the pass. They've also allowed four passing touchdowns.
Analysis: Gonzalez had four catches for 61 yards in two games against Houston last season and did not get into the end zone. He's yet to get into the end zone this season, but has at least five catches in two of his three games so far, getting targeted regularly in the pass offense. Consider him a decent No. 3 receiver option or bye week replacement in Week 5.
News: Colts coach Tony Dungy said TE Dallas Clark, who sat out last week with a knee injury in Week 2 at Minnesota, is expected to be in the starting lineup for the Colts on Sunday against Jacksonville. He went through a full workout this week. With Clark out against the Vikings, WR Anthony Gonzalez led the team with nine catches for 137 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez could lose some attempts in his direction with Clark back on the field, but continue to start Gonzalez as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option. Hopefully, Peyton Manning will continue to look at Gonzalez even with Clark still in there.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez took advantage of TE Dallas Clark (knee) being out and led the team with nine catches for 137 yards Sunday at Minnesota.
Analysis: This is the type of production we expected from Gonzalez this year as the No. 3 WR for the Colts. As long as Clark is out, Gonzalez could continue to produce. Consider Gonzalez a No. 3 option in Week 3 against Jacksonville, and if Clark is out again, bump Gonzalez's value up to a No. 2 WR.
News: Colts second-year WR Anthony Gonzalez, who broke out late last season when Marvin Harrison missed time with a knee injury, caught five passes for 48 yards Week 1 against the Bears. Even though some starters across the league don't produce such statistics, he finished third on the Colts in both receptions and receiving yards -- behind starters Reggie Wayne and Harrison.
Analysis: OK, so Gonzalez is clearly the Colts' No. 3 WR, but he looks like he'll still make some kind of impact in that role, and he's a Wayne or Harrison injury away from becoming a must-start. For now, just think of him as a bye-week replacement, but you shouldn't cut him if you drafted him hoping Harrison would miss more time. The Colts visit the Vikings in Week 2.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts WR Marvin Harrison has been cleared for practice when training camp opens later this week, according to head coach Tony Dungy. "The last I heard from our doctors' meeting was Marvin would be ready to go when we get there," Dungy said Tuesday. "He's been running and feeling good and everybody, including Marvin, is really enthused and optimistic about how that's gone." Harrison is coming off of a rough season where he damaged both knees (including arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this offseason). He also was allegedly involved in a Philadelphia shooting but has not been considered a suspect in the case and isn't expected to be involved in the court proceedings.
Analysis: If Harrison is able to participate in the majority of practices and be deemed healthy for the start of the regular season, Gonzalez will lose playing time in the Colts' two-WR sets. He should still produce solid numbers, but treat the second-year receiver as more of a top-end reserve than a No. 3 WR. He's worth a middle- to late-round pick in drafts unless Harrison has a setback in his return.
News: At no point last season did Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez feel lost or alone as he experienced the NFL for the first time. But neither was the team's 2007 first-round pick totally comfortable. The transition took time, and remains ongoing as Gonzalez participates in the Colts' voluntary summer school, reports the Indianapolis Star. Gonzalez appeared in 13 regular-season games, nine as a starter. While learning on the run and dealing with a dislocated thumb suffered Nov. 4 against New England, he had 37 receptions for 576 yards and three touchdowns. "I don't want to say I feel great about everything, but I'm coming along," he said. "Every part of my game just needs to be a little bit better, a little bit sharper, a little bit crisper and a little bit faster."
Analysis: Gonzalez could play a big role for the Colts in 2008 if Marvin Harrison's knee isn't 100 percent. Keep an eye on Harrison and his health, but plan on drafting Gonzalez as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy option this year.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez finished his rookie season strong with 37 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns. But Gonzalez didn't get going until November, when he had two 100-yard games and all three touchdowns in his final five games. Gonzalez started to play well once Marvin Harrison went down with a knee injury. He split time between playing in the slot and going outside.
Analysis: Gonzalez did well with Harrison out, and Gonzalez could see an increased role if Harrison is limited or hurt to start 2008. Gonzalez should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR heading into 2008 with the chance to see his value rise depending on how the year starts with Harrison.
News: The Colts listed WR Anthony Gonzalez (foot) as inactive for Week 17, meaning he won't suit up and play against the Titans. With their playoff seeding already determined, the Colts planned to reserve many of their starters anyway.
Analysis: If the playoffs began today, Gonzalez would likely play. After a slow start to his rookie season, he ended up finishing strong, admirably replacing Marvin Harrison with two 100-yard performances and three touchdowns in his last five games. Expect him to enter 2008 as one of the most Fantasy-relevant No. 3 wide receivers in the league.
News: All eyes are focused on Indianapolis to see if Dungy plays his starters in the NFL's final regular season game, just as they were for the league's season-opener in September. And the usually cautious Dungy won't tip his hand much, but he is planning on pulling Peyton Manning and his starters no later than the end of the first half. In previous meaningless regular-season finales, his starters worked one series before leaving. It could happen again Sunday night, although Dungy sounds like he'll give his first-teamers a few more snaps. "We've got the same type of situation this week, where the game really doesn't mean much, and we got some rest for some of our regulars at the end of the game," Dungy said. "That's probably what we'll do this week only a little earlier. We do plan to play everybody, we're just not sure how long yet."
Analysis: Fantasy owners playing in Week 17 shouldn't expect to see much of Anthony Gonzalez, who left the club's Week 16 game vs. Tennessee with a concussion and didn't practice all week with a foot injury. The team officially lists him as questionable. We expect Aaron Moorehead and Devin Aromashodu to pick up his and Reggie Wayne's workload vs. the Titans. Hopefully, you own a backup Fantasy wide receiver that can replace Gonzalez with in your lineup in Week 17.
News: Indianapolis WR Anthony Gonzalez left Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with an injury and did not return. Gonzalez, a rookie, bruised his foot in the second quarter. He finished the game with two catches for 22 yards. Afterward, Colts coach Tony Dungy said Gonzalez could have returned.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what develops with Gonzalez's injury, but he will likely rest in Week 17 against the Titans since the Colts have nothing to play for. Continue to monitor his status before setting your lineup.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts coach Tony Dungy plans to use his players "like we normally would" in Sunday's game against Houston, with perhaps a more conservative approach for the regular-season finale at home against Tennessee a week later. Coming off a victory at Oakland, the Colts are assured of a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs no matter what happens in the final regular-season games. One person who doesn't want to be cautious is QB Peyton Manning, who told reporters after the Oakland victory that he needs more game action with new players such as rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez.
Analysis: This is great news for players such as Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark and Gonzalez. Continue to start all these players as you normally would in your Fantasy leagues because they will likely play the majority of the game against the Texans.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez continued his recent hot stretch with his third touchdown in two games Week 15 at Oakland. He caught seven passes for 86 yards, including 20 on his fourth-quarter score.
Analysis: Gonzalez has begun to step up his play with Marvin Harrison sidelined, going for more than 100 yards in two of his last four games and more than 85 in three of his last four. The rookie appears to have put his early-season drops behind him and developed a rapport with QB Peyton Manning. Use him as a No. 3 WR in Week 16 against the Texans.
News:Marvin Harrison, who has been to eight consecutive Pro Bowls, has already missed a career-high eight games this season after injuring his knee against Denver on Sept. 30, and will be out for Week 15 at Oakland. Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning isn't sure when Harrison might return, either, and until then is content relying on rookie Anthony Gonzalez, the Colts' top draft pick in April, to fill the void. "Nobody really has any clue around here about Marvin and what's going on there, so Gonzo's the guy," Manning said. "I don't know anything. It's Gonzo who's out there at the right."
Analysis: In two of his last three games, Gonzalez has six catches for over 100 yards, and scored twice last week. He's a good No. 3 Fantasy WR pick in deeper leagues when he faces off against a Raiders pass defense ranked fifth.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez had the best game of his rapidly developing career Week 14 at Baltimore, catching a career-high 134 yards while scoring his first ever touchdowns. The first score went for 57 yards in the second quarter. The second went for 40 in the third. He finished with six receptions total.
Analysis: Gonzalez has begun to step up his play with Marvin Harrison sidelined, going for more than 100 yards in two of his last three games. The rookie appears to have put his early-season drops behind him and developed a rapport with QB Peyton Manning. Obviously, he deserves an immediate pickup in Fantasy by virtue of the Colts' explosive offense, and we'd consider starting him as a No. 3 WR for Week 15 at Oakland.
News: Colts wideout Marvin Harrison will be out for the eighth time in nine games when Indianapolis plays the Ravens Week 14. Harrison, who did not travel with the team to Baltimore, saw limited practice time Wednesday and had been listed as questionable for the game. He injured his knee Sept. 30 against Denver. The rookie Anthony Gonzalez should once again start in Harrison's place.
Analysis: Gonzalez posted a career-high 105 yards against the Falcons in Week 12, but hasn't had a consistent flow of stats since starting for Harrison. He also dealt with a minor finger issue for a few weeks. Conside Gonzalez a No. 3 Fantasy WR at best for Week 14.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez caught just one pass for 22 yards vs. the Jags in Week 13. Gonzalez scored what appeared to be his first career touchdown for the Colts, but it was called back for offensive interference. "I didn't see that he did anything," said Manning, who noted his first career TD pass was taken away on the same penalty.
Analysis: Tough game for Gonzalez, who did much better the week before. He should be considered a low-end No. 3 WR for next week's game at Baltimore.
News: With Marvin Harrison's status still up the air as he continues to recover from a knee injury, Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez could be starting once again in Week 13 when the Jacksonville Jaguars come to Indy.
Analysis: Teams struggle to run against the Jaguars, so if Gonzalez can start on Sunday he will certainly get some looks from Peyton Manning when the Colts have the ball. He had his first 100-yard receiving game last week and could easily get into triple digits again this week. Consider him a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez, who's struggled with dropped passes and general inconsistency in mostly spot duty this season, finally had a breakout 100-yard game Week 12 at Atlanta. With Marvin Harrison and Aaron Moorehead both sidelined, Gonzalez started and caught six passes for 105 yards.
Analysis: Moorehead will miss the rest of the season, but Harrison could return at any point and will immediately reclaim his starting role when he does. However, Harrison's status has been up in the air for weeks now -- five, to be exact -- so Fantasy owners who need receiving help should go ahead and take a chance on Gonzalez. With Peyton Manning throwing him the ball, special things can happen. The Colts host the Jaguars in Week 13.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez will play Week 11 despite being listed as questionable with a dislocated thumb earlier in the week. He sat out Week 10 because of the same injury.
Analysis: Gonzalez, a rookie, still has a ways to go before he can make a Fantasy impact, and now he has to overcome this latest setback. He only deserves a roster spot in long-term keeper leagues at this point.

News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (hand) is out for Week 10 at San Diego. He did not practice all week. Gonzalez dislocated his left thumb in the first quarter Week 9 against the Patriots. Gonzalez returned briefly, but was ineffective and unable to finish the game. Reports are surfacing that Gonzalez might miss 3-4 weeks due to the injury.
Analysis: Gonzalez started for the third time in four games Week 9 with Marvin Harrison (knee) on the inactives list. Gonzalez has had only one really solid start in place of Harrison and that came Week 5 against the Bucs. He is a rookie trying to learn the game, so the world can't be expected from him. Gonzalez is at best a low-end Fantasy reserve and possible long-term keeper at this juncture. The fact that he might miss a month doesn't bode well for his Fantasy value.

News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez disloacted his left thumb in the first quarter Sunday against the Patriots. Gonzalez returned briefly, but was ineffective and unable to finish the game. On the Colts' second drive of the game, he was unable to secure a Peyton Manning pass in the endzone. Gonzalez didn't know how much time, if any, he will miss with the injury. "Once the strength returns to it, I should be OK," he said.
Analysis: The Colts play the Chargers in Week 10. Gonzalez is only worth using if Marvin Harrison (knee) remains out. Continue to monitor Gonzalez's status and hope he can go, especially if Harrison cannot.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez started for the third time in four games Week 9 against the Patriots with Marvin Harrison (knee) on the inactives list. However, Gonzalez failed to make it out of the first quarter against the Patriots after sustaining a hand injury. He had one catch for 13 yards before leaving the game.
Analysis: Gonzalez has had only one really solid start in place of Harrison and that came Week 5 against the Bucs. He is a rookie trying to learn the game, so the world can't be expected from him. Gonzalez is at best a low-end Fantasy reserve and possible long-term keeper at this juncture. The Colts play the Chargers in Week 10.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez was expected to come in and play as a slot type to help provide an outlet for Peyton Manning to throw to, but that job ultimately went to TE Dallas Clark. Now, with Marvin Harrison out, Gonzalez has found starts in two of the Colts' last three games. How'd he do? Eight catches for 87 yards, including one catch in Week 8 and no catches in Week 7. Gonzalez has yet to catch a touchdown this season. He is expected to replace Harrison in Week 9 vs. New England.
Analysis: Gonzalez has turned out to be a typical rookie wide receiver, which isn't really his fault. On the plus side, his long-term future in Indy isn't bad at all. He should remain benched in all leagues for the Patriots Week 9 tilt, but is still a fabulous long-term keeper option.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez had one catch for 16 yards Sunday against Carolina.
Analysis: Gonzalez started for the injured Marvin Harrison (knee) but struggled to do anything. Gonzalez has minimal Fantasy value and should not be started in Week 9 against New England.
News: According to NFL.com, Colts WR Marvin Harrison (knee) will be inactive for Week 8 at Carolina. The Colts announced Saturday that Harrison will be sidelined for the second time in three games. Harrison, who did not practice all week, originally bruised his left knee against the Broncos in Week 4 and sat out Week 5 against the Bucs since Indianapolis was on a bye in Week 6. Expect rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez to once again start for Harrison.
Analysis: Gonzalez caught a career-high seven passes for 71 yards against the Bucs in Week 5, his first start in place of Harrison. He did not record a catch against the Jaguars in Week 7. The Panthers own the 21st best pass defense and it could turn into a good week for the rookie. Consider him a viable stopgap Fantasy option for Week 8.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez didn't get a grab Week 7 at Jacksonville. He had a career-high seven catches for 71 yards in his last game Week 5.
Analysis: TE Dallas Clark has essentially become the No. 3 WR in Indianapolis, leaving little catches left for guys like Gonzalez. Consider the rookie only in deeper Fantasy formats. The Colts visit the Panthers in Week 8.
News: Wide receiver Marvin Harrison remains questionable for the Indianapolis Colts' game against Jacksonville on Monday night because of a bruised left knee. Colts coach Tony Dungy said before practice Saturday that Harrison would probably be a game-time decision in the AFC South clash between the Colts (5-0) and Jaguars (4-1).
Analysis: Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez would see more looks if Harrison is unable to go. Gonzalez is a suitable backup if you want to gamble on Harrison's status all the way until the inactives are announced on Monday night. Gonzalez caught a career-high seven passes for a career-high 71 yards during a Week 5 win over the Bucs, with Harrison sidelined.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez caught a career-high seven passes for a career-high 71 yards during a Week 5 win over the Bucs, but will relinquish his starting role in Week 7 against the Jaguars if Marvin Harrison is back from injury as expected.
Analysis: As part of the high-powered Colts offense and against a run-stuffing Jags defense, Gonzalez is worth a shot as a No. 4 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in Week 7.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez caught a career-high seven passes for a career-high 71 yards during a Week 5 win over the Bucs. Gonzalez started in the place of Marvin Harrison, who was inactive with a knee injury. Gonzalez's longest reception went for 21 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez came into the game with just six receptions for 107 yards in his previous four games. He is still looking for his first career TD. The Colts are on a bye in Week 6 and return to action Week 7 against the Jaguars. By then Harrison might be ready to play. Track the news out of Indy, if Harrison is still out, treat Gonzalez as a stopgap Fantasy option.
News: Colts WR Marvin Harrison has been ruled inactive for Week 5 against the Bucs with a knee injury. Harrison did not practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Rookie Anthony Gonzalez will get the start in place of Harrison.
Analysis: The rookie Gonzalez might be in for a career game taking over for Harrison. He has just six catches for 107 yards, but now he is taking over for Harrison, he should see more passes thrown his way. Consider him a stopgap Fantasy option for Week 5.
News: The Colts have listed WR Marvin Harrison (knee) as questionable for Week 5 vs. the Buccaneers. He did not practice all week; typically, if a player doesn't practice on Friday, he doesn't play on Sunday, but Harrison is a long-standing NFL veteran who hasn't missed many games, so he might not apply to that rule. If he were to miss the game, veteran Aaron Moorehead and rookie Anthony Gonzalez would take a chunk of his reps.
Analysis: Neither Moorehead nor Gonzalez would be reliable replacements for Harrison, a No. 1 WR in a class by himself. At best, Gonzalez would be a low-end No. 3 WR while Moorehead would be a reserve. They may post decent stats this week (50 yards or so), but once Harrison is healthy, they'll be back to being Fantasy afterthoughts.
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had one catch for 19 yards Sunday against Denver.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been a disappointment thus far this season. He should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in Week 5 against Tampa Bay.
News: Anthony Gonzalez considers himself a quick study. But even he was confused by the Indianapolis offense. Three weeks ago, Gonzalez, the Colts' first-round draft pick, acknowledged he was still struggling to pick up Peyton Manning's repertoire of audibles and hand signals. Now that he's figured that out, Gonzalez is starting to make plays. At Houston, Manning threw five passes to Gonzalez in the first half. He caught one in each of the Colts' first two scoring drives for 39 yards. Yet he also dropped a pass when he started to run before tucking the ball away. "I'd say I'm not where I need to be yet, but I'm getting there," Gonzalez said. "The Tennessee game, I thought I played pretty well. The last game, I thought I played well except for two or three plays - one in particular."
Analysis: Consider Gonzalez a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 4 against the Broncos. He is not worth starting at this moment.
News: The Colts incorporated WR Anthony Gonzalez into their offense some Week 3 at the Texans. He caught two passes for 39 yards.
Analysis: Gonzalez also dropped too many passes to count. He doesn't accumulate statistics frequently enough to deserve serious attention in Fantasy leagues, and his slippery hands surely haven't endeared him to his coaches. Keep him reserved in all Fantasy leagues for Week 4 against the Broncos.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez caught three passes for 49 yards at Tennessee in Week 2.
Analysis: Gonzalez just isn't reliable enough statistically to be relied upon in Fantasy play. At best, he's a No. 4 Fantasy WR in deeper leagues at this point. The Colts play at 2-0 Houston in Week 3.
News: Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez played Week 1 vs. New Orleans but didn't catch a single pass. Peyton Manning threw his way once in the contest.
Analysis: Gonzalez is a long-term prospect and not someone who should be relied upon as a starting Fantasy WR outside of the deepest of leagues. Expect to keep him shelved for Week 2 when the Colts play at Tennessee.
News: Anthony Gonzalez was good for two receptions for 26 yards in Monday's preseason game against the Bears. He is trying to hold off Aaron Moorehead, who had four catches for 52 yards and a touchdown, for the No. 3 job behind starters Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. John Standeford, who had one grab for six yards, is also in the mix.
Analysis: Gonzalez has the most promise of the three challengers for the No. 3 job. He is still only worth a look in deeper Fantasy leagues and long-term keeper formats at this time.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez is ready for Thursday night's preseason opener at Dallas. The first-round pick from Ohio State is the team's new No. 3 receiver. He's replacing veteran Brandon Stokley, who was cut in the offseason.
Analysis: Expect good things from Gonzalez this season. He has a chance to be a sleeper at WR and can be used as a solid Fantasy reserve. In rookie drafts, Gonzalez should be viewed as the No. 2 WR behind Calvin Johnson in Detroit.
News: Receiver Anthony Gonzalez, the Indianapolis Colts' first-round pick, agreed to a five-year contract worth $10.3 million Thursday, a person close to the negotiations said. That person is not authorized to release details of the deal and requested anonymity, but said $5.4 million is guaranteed. The base deal is worth $7.5 million and Gonzalez can earn another $2.8 million through escalator clauses and bonuses. Colts spokesman Craig Kelly said he could not confirm the deal.
Analysis: By wrapping up negotiations this week, it assures Gonzalez of reporting to training camp on time with his new teammates Sunday. It also marks the earliest the Colts have had their top pick under contract since president Bill Polian joined the team in 1998. Gonzalez, who left Ohio State a year early, gives Peyton Manning, the Super Bowl MVP and two-time league MVP, another solid target on offense. He's expected to replace Brandon Stokley as the Colts' No. 3 receiver after Stokley became a cost-cutting casualty in March. Stokley eventually signed with the Denver Broncos. Consider taking a late-round flier on Gonzalez since he will be playing with the pass-happy Manning.
News: Ohio State WR Anthony Gonzalez was the last first-round pick of the 2007 draft, taken 32nd overall by the Colts. Gonzalez is an explosive, refined receiver with 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash and very good hands. He's willing to run any route and is smart enough to outplay his opponents. His only knock is his height (5-foot-11).
Analysis: Gonzalez is worth considering simply because he'll be playing with Peyton Manning. In the next few years, Gonzalez will take on a role similar to Brandon Stokley when he was in Indy: Move the chains and occasionally go deep. Ultimately, he has the long-term potential to be a replacement in the starting lineup for Marvin Harrison with slightly poorer statistical results. On the whole, consider him with a late-round pick in standard Fantasy play, but without question view him as a middle-round pick worth sweating in keeper leagues.
