News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk, who entered the game with only one sack all season, recorded two Week 16 against the Titans. He also had seven tackles, including six solo.
Analysis: Hawk has been a better source of tackles than sacks this season, averaging 8.3 in his last six games. He doesn't get as much attention as teammate Clay Matthews does, but he's a worthy Fantasy IDP starter in his own right.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk totaled 10 tackles (eight solo) Week 13 vs. Minnesota. It was the third straight game Hawk managed at least 10 tackles and sixth time this season he has reached that plateau.
Analysis: Hawk has benefited the last few weeks from the Packers being down safety Charles Woodson and linebacker Clay Matthews. That has allowed Hawk to make more plays and remain on track for his fourth season with 100-plus tackles. Hawk doesn't get many stats against the pass, but since he is racking up tackles, then he remains a viable mid-level Fantasy start in IDP formats.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk turned in another solid performance as he led the way in tackles during Sunday's contest against the Giants in Week 12. Hawk registered 10 tackles (eight solo) in a 38-10 defeat.
Analysis: Hawk has turned in double-digit tackle outputs in his last two games and has racked up 86 tackles on the year. He is on pace for 120-plus tackles for the first time since 2006, when he was a rookie. He should be considered as a viable Fantasy linebacker in most IDP formats heading into Week 12 against the Vikings.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk led the team in tackles Sunday against the Lions, racking up 10 in a 24-20 Week 11 win. Hawk had eight solo stops and added nothing else to the box score.
Analysis: Hawk has 76 tackles now through 10 games, putting him on pace for 120-plus tackles for the first time since 2006, when he was a rookie. He will have to stay on this pace to get there, but if he doesnt, he still looks like a lock to get to 100. He remains a decent Fantasy option in IDP formats.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk totaled four tackles (three solo) Week 9 vs. Arizona. Hawk has 66 tackles in nine games.
Analysis: Hawk remains on pace to set a new career-high in tackles. He doesn't fill up the stat sheet on a weekly basis, but he has strong tackle totals, so that keeps him as a viable Fantasy linebacker in most IDP formats.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk totaled six tackles (three solo) Week 8 vs. Jacksonville. He has 62 tackles in eight games.
Analysis: Hawk is on pace for a career-high 124 tackles. He doesn't fill up the stat sheet on a weekly basis, but he has strong tackle totals, so that keeps him as a viable Fantasy linebacker in most IDP formats.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk had eight tackles on Sunday against the Colts. He now has 41 tackles on the season.

News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk led his team in tackles in Week 3 against the Seahawks. He recorded 11 tackles (five solo) in the 14-12 loss.
Analysis: Hawk has 30 tackles through three games this season and should be able to get back over 100 after missing out a year ago. While he does not contribute much in the form of sacks or interceptions, the 28-year-old remains a viable option in deeper Fantasy IDP formats at this point.
News: Green Bay linebacker A.J. Hawk finished with five tackles, including one for a loss, during the Packers' 23-10 victory over Chicago in Week 2. Hawk also was part of a ferocious defense that harassed quarterback Jay Cutler all night and collected a hit on him -- one of 12 by Green Bay.
Analysis: Hawk once again was among the leading tacklers in Thursday's showdown and has now racked up 19 stops in his first two games. The 28-year-old appears primed for a 100-tackle campaign for the first time since 2010 and should be added in most Fantasy IDP formats.
News: Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk led his team in tackles in Week 1 against the 49ers. He recorded 14 total (10 solo) in the 30-22 loss.
Analysis: Hawk has gone over 100 tackles three out of his six years so far in the league and got off to a solid start Sunday. He also chips in with a few sacks and interceptions to give him value in Fantasy. Owners in deeper IDP formats should consider adding Hawk going forward.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk is active for the Week 15 game at Kansas City. Hawk was able to practice all week, despite having a calf issue.
Analysis: Hawk has racked up 60 tackles with 1.5 sacks so far this season. He is fine for Week 15, but is just a low-end option in Fantasy IDP formats.

Analysis: Hawk has racked up 60 tackles with 1.5 sacks thus far and should be considered a viable Fantasy LB in IDP formats for Week 14.
News: Speaking about injured ILB A.J. Hawk (calf), Packers coach Mike McCarthy said everything looked positive at practice Friday. Hawk, who was a limited participant, had spent the previous days running along the sidelines and is questionable for Sundays game against the Raiders. McCarthy said he hasnt determined if or how much Hawk would play.
Analysis: Hawk sat out Week 13, but it appears he might miss just one game. However, Hawk might be limited, so Fantasy owners need to take that into account when starting him in IDP formats.
News: Packers LBs Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk have been ruled inactive for Week 13 against the Giants. Hawk was unable to practice all week due to a calf injury.
Analysis: Hawk has quietly totaled 60 tackles in 11 games, but he has just 1 1/2 sacks. He is more of a No. 3 Fantasy LB when healthy.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (calf) has been ruled out for Week 13 at N.Y. Giants.
Analysis: Hawk has quietly totaled 60 tackles in 11 games, but he has just 1 1/2 sacks. He is more of a No. 3 Fantasy LB when healthy.
News: LB A.J. Hawk was one of many wounded Packers on Thursday at the Lions. He hurt his calf in the first half and was replaced by Rob Francois in the second half. The Green Bay Press-Gazette suspects that he could miss Week 13 at the Giants.
Analysis: Hawk had six total tackles before leaving. If he and teammate Desmond Bishop, who also hurt his calf, miss Week 13, consider their backups, D.J. Smith and Francois as good replacement for them in Fantasy. We'll keep you posted.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk was relatively active in Week 9 against the Chargers. Hawk finished with seven tackles in the 45-38 contest -- with six of those being solo. He now has 41 stops on the season.
Analysis: After getting off to a slow start this season, Hawk has really started to play much better. He has racked up 32 tackles over his last five contests, although will need to finish with a flurry to have any chance to get over 100. Consider Hawk a low-end Fantasy LB heading into Week 10 against the Vikings.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had a solid game Sunday against the Rams. Hawk had nine tackles, including seven solo, with one sack. He now has 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the season. Hawk also was caught on TV making an obscene gesture with his middle finger during Sundays win over the Rams. Afterward, he apologized and said, I definitely wasnt mad or upset with anybody. Its kind of a running joke with a couple teammates. I definitely apologize to everyone if kids were watching and got offended.
Analysis: We'll find out if Hawk can continue to play at this level, and he should be considered a No. 3 LB in Week 7 at Minnesota. We'll also find out if he is going to be fined for his gesture. Keep an eye on what happens heading into Week 7.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk was relatively quiet in Week 5 against the Falcons. Hawk registered just three tackles -- one solo -- in the 25-14 victory.
Analysis: Hawk was been unusually quiet this season, registering just 12 tackles ion the year thus far. The 27-year-old is usually a solid source for tackles, but should be considered merely a low-end option until he picks up the production.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk recorded six tackles, three solo, on Sunday against Denver. The Packers would win the game, 49-23.
Analysis: Hawk only has 15 tackles and 0.5 sacks through the first four weeks of the season. He's coming off a solid season with Green Bay, but he hasn't gotten going yet. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end LB option until he gets going.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk recorded four tackles and assisted on a sack during the Packers' 42-34 Week 1 victory over New Orleans on Thursday night. Hawk was also called for pass interference late in the fourth quarter that gave the Saints the ball at the 1-yard line with three seconds left. However, the Packers stopped RB Mark Ingram at the goal-line to end the game.
Analysis: Hawk's penalty was the only blemish to his strong start to the season. The 27-year-old experienced a resurgence last season when he finished with 111 tackles, his highest total since his rookie campaign in 2006. Consider him a quality option in IDP formats for Week 2 at Carolina.
News: The Dayton Daily News reports that Packers LB A.J. Hawk, who had surgery on his right wrist in February, said the last piece of hardware was removed two weeks ago. He doesnt expect to miss time during training camp. Hawk plans to give his wrist a test playing golf. Football pays my bills so thats the main thing Im focused on, Hawk said, just working out and rehabbing the wrist I had surgery on in February.
Analysis: We saw Hawk return to Fantasy prominence last season with 111 total tackles, and now the hope is that he does it again in 2011. Hawk's a mixed bag as he's either been a good source of total tackles or a mild one. Helping his cause last year were his stats against the pass: Hawk had three interceptions and 10 passes defensed, both career-highs. It's tough to envision him doing that again, but he should come close. Your best bet is to draft Hawk with a middle- to late-round pick as a No. 2 Fantasy LB as there's still some risk involved in making him a key IDP draft selection.
News: The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Packers LB A.J. Hawk said his injured wrist is getting better. Right after the Super Bowl in February, Hawk had surgery to repair ligament damage in his wrist. Pins were inserted and he was in a cast for a couple of months, he said. Now he's wearing a brace while working out six days a week. "It's still not completely healed," said Hawk. "But I'm perfectly fine for training camp and everything. I played the whole year with it, so it's fine; it will be all right."
Analysis: We saw Hawk return to Fantasy prominence last season with 111 total tackles, and now the hope is that he does it again in 2011. News:A.J. Hawk's absence from the Packers didn't last long. Hawk's agent, Mike McCartney, said Thursday that the LB signed a five-year deal with the Packers just one day after he was released in a cost-cutting move. "He's thrilled to be back with his Super Bowl-winning teammates and a first-class organization," McCartney said. Hawk, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, was scheduled to earn $10 million in 2011. When the Packers released him Wednesday, they did so with the hope that they could bring him back at a reduced salary. Packers GM Ted Thompson said the business side of the game drove the decision to release Hawk and he was hopeful Hawk would return. Hawk was free to negotiate with other teams after his release, but clearly focused on the Packers. Multiple media outlets reported that a new deal was imminent after his release.
Analysis: Despite his lofty draft status and hardworking reputation, Hawk began the 2010 season as a role player. He ended it as a leader of a Super Bowl-champion defense. We expect him to play at the same level in 2011 as he did in 2010. Consider Hawk a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 LB in IDP leagues this season, and he's worth a late-round pick in all formats.
News:A.J. Hawk's agent says he and the Packers are close to a deal that will bring the LB back to Green Bay one day after the team released him. Mike McCartney said Thursday that the sides are "putting the finishing touches" on the agreement. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2006 draft was scheduled to earn $10 million in 2011, and the team hoped to bring him back at a reduced salary. Packers GM Ted Thompson said Wednesday that the business side of the game drove the decision to release Hawk and he was hopeful Hawk would return.
Analysis: This is a good sign that the Packers plan to keep Hawk, and we expect him to play at the same level in 2011 as he did in 2010. Consider Hawk a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 LB in IDP leagues this season, and he's worth a late-round pick in all formats.
News: The Packers have released LB A.J. Hawk, TE Donald Lee and safety Derrick Martin. The transactions were announced Wednesday by GM Ted Thompson. We want to thank Donald for all of his contributions to the Packers and for being a good teammate throughout his career in Green Bay, Thompson said. He has been a professional and we wish him well in the future. We appreciate Derricks work and contributions over the past two seasons. He has been a good player on our team and we appreciate his passion and energy. With A.J., the business side of the game is driving this decision. Were hopeful that we can continue to work with A.J. to have him be a part of our team in the future.
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Hawks lands in 2011, and he has the potential to be a No. 2 LB in IDP leagues. He's worth drafting as a No. 3 option based on his play with the Packers, but he should be considered with a late-round pick on Draft Day.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk (knee) was considered probable to play in Sunday's NFL Championship game against the Bears in Chicago. Hawk was not listed among the team's inactives and did start for the Packers.
Analysis: Hawk is Mr. Consistent in the middle of Green Bay's defense and they are going to need him to get to the Super Bowl. Hawk is a solid start in all IDP Fantasy formats. Heading into 2011, continue to view Hawk as a viable option in most Fantasy IDP formats on Draft Day.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk popped up on th injury report Friday, and was limited in practice with a knee injury. "He didn't feel good yesterday after practice, and I know he was looked at beforehand," coach Mike McCarthy said. "Did some testing and just felt it was best to give him a day of rest. I fully (expect) A.J. to play in the game." Hawk is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Bears.
Analysis: Hawk is Mr. consistent in the middle of Green Bay's defense and they can ill-afford to be without him Sunday. Fortunately for them, Hawk's limited practice Friday was more of a precautionary move. Let's hope the knee is fine for Sunday. When healthy, Hawk is a solid start in all IDP Fantasy formats. Heading into 2011, continue to view Hawk as a viable option in most Fantasy IDP formats on Draft Day.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk was all over the the field in Week 17 against the Bears. He finished tied for the team lead with 11 tackles, and also recorded half a sack in the 10-3 win.
Analysis: Hawk recorded his third 100-tackle campaign this season and also had half a sack with a career-high three interceptions. While his production has been sporadic at times, he has been a force since coming into the league and should be able to do some more damage in the playoffs. Heading into 2011, continue to view Hawk as a viable option in most Fantasy IDP formats on Draft Day.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk recorded his third interception of the season and six tackles in the Packers' 45-17 victory over the Giants in Week 16 on Sunday. Hawk picked off QB Eli Manning's pass late in the fourth quarter -- the third interception Green Bay swiped on three consecutive New York possessions.
Analysis: With his sterling output in Sunday's game, Hawk accomplished two milestones. His interception established a career high with three picks while Hawk reached 100 tackles for the third time in his career. Hawk remains a solid option for tackles in IDP leagues and should be considered for Week 17 against Chicago.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk managed just three tackles in the Week 15 loss to the Patriots. He nearly made a game changing play, when he tipped one of QB Tom Brady's pass into the air and nearly came down with the interception before an offensive lineman knocked him out of the way.
Analysis: Hawk has seen a big drop-off in tackles over the last seven games, racking up at least 10 only in last week's contest. Still, the former Buckeye is a solid No. 3 Fantasy LB in IDP leagues.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk made 10 tackles in Week 14 against the Lions. He now has 91 on the season.
Analysis: Hawk entered the game among the league's top 40 in tackles, and his latest game will surely send him further up the rankings. He can be used as a low-end No. 2 LB in IDP leagues.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk managed four tackles in the Week 13 win over San Francisco. Hawk now has 81 tackles on the year.
Analysis: Hawk is a consistent tackler who sees few sacks. That keeps him mostly an IDP option in deeper Fantasy formats. That is how he should continue to be viewed heading into Week 14 at Detroit.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had another modest performance Week 12 at Atlanta. He finished with six tackles, including four solo. He's averaging 4.3 tackles over his last four games.
Analysis: Hawk isn't exactly a turnover machine, and he has yet to record a sack this season. When he's not getting tackles, he's not doing much for your Fantasy team, so he's probably overrated in Fantasy right now. He's no better than a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk got his hands on a Jon Kitna pass in the fourth quarter of the Week 9 game against the Cowboys and tipped the ball in the air. Teammate Clay Matthews intercepted the pass and took it 62 yards for a touchdown. Hawk managed to rack up three tackles (two solo) in the blowout win.
Analysis: Hawk was able to blitz the passer to initiate the big play and he wrapped up any Cowboys that carried the ball around him on Sunday night. He remains a No. 2 Fantasy LB moving forward.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk, who recorded at least nine tackles in each of his previous four games, recorded only five, including three solo, Week 8 at the Jets. He has 65 in eight games this season.
Analysis: Hawk isn't known as a big tackler, his last 100-tackle season coming in 2007, but he has looked like one this season. Assuming he bounces back from this five-tackle afternoon, he's worth starting as a No. 2 Fantasy LB, and he could develop into a No. 1.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk led the Packers with 11 tackles (six solo) in the Week 7 win over the Vikings. Hawk also intercepted Brett Favre in the victory. He leads the team in tackles (60) and interceptions (2) through seven games.
Analysis: With all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball for Green Bay, Hawk is being asked to step up and make some plays and he is delivering. In Week 8 against the Jets, get him active in most IDP Fantasy formats.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) will play in the Week 7 game against the Vikings. He was listed as probable heading into the game.
Analysis: With all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball for Green Bay, Hawk is being asked to step up and make some plays. In Week 7 against the Vikings, get him active in most IDP Fantasy formats.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) is listed as probable for the Week 7 game against the Vikings. He missed practice on Wednesday with the injury, but returned for limited sessions on Thursday and Friday. Hawk played in Week 6 and was credited with a game-high 13 tackles.
Analysis: With all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball for Green Bay, Hawk is being asked to step up and make some plays, and he did that on Sunday. If he's healthy enough to play in Week 7 against the Vikings, get him active in most IDP Fantasy formats.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday. The team is preparing for the Week 7 matchup at Minnesota.
Hawk was not able to participate in practice on Wednesday as he continues to deal with a groin strain. The team is preparing for the Week 7 matchup at Minnesota.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Packers LB A.J. Hawk likely will need some practice time off this week because of a groin strain.
Hawk totaled a team-high and season-high 13 tackles (five solo) in Week 6 against the Dolphins. He has 49 tackles in six games.
Analysis: Hawk is finally getting on a roll for the Packers after his season began in bit of turmoil as he was mostly being used on special teams. Hawk is once again becoming a steady contributor, so consider starting him in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk played well in Sunday's game at the Redskins in Week 5. Hawk had nine tackles, including five solo stops. Hawk now has 36 tackles on the season.
Analysis: Hawk is a quality No. 2 LB in IDP leagues. Consider him a solid starter in Week 6 against the Dolphins as long as he's playing at this level.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk finished second on the team with 12 tackles (nine solo) in Week 4 against the Lions. He also added an interception and two pass defenses. Hawk came into the game with 15 tackles.
Analysis: It's amazing how fast Hawk's season has done a 180. A few weeks ago he was primarily a special teams player and wanting out of Green Bay. Fast forward to Week 4 and he was one of the team's best defenders. As long as Hawk keeps working hard, he is going to be on the field for Green Bay. He had a standout performance in Week 4, but he is still more of a No. 3 Fantasy LB until he starts producing these kinds of games on a regular basis.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk did not have his most productive game in Week 3 against the Bears. After recording 10 tackles over the first two games of the season, the 26-year-old had just five tackles in Monday night's 20-17 loss.
Analysis: Hawk has had fewer than 100 tackles in his last two seasons, but has the upside to be a top performer. The Packers like to move around their linebackers to cause havoc and the former Buckeye is one of the better tacklers on the team. Hawk is a low-end option in IDP leagues at this point but could be a sleeper later on in the season.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk was credited with nine tackles in Week 2 against Buffalo. He was credited with just one tackle in the opener against the Eagles.
Analysis: Hawk has had fewer than 100 tackles in his last two seasons, but he has this type of upside. He racked up 225 tackles in his first two seasons and has the ability to return to being a regular IDP option down the line if he can back this performance up.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk played only on special teams on Sunday, because the Packers didn't play any downs in their base defense. Hawk doesn't play in the nickel or dime packages -- which they played a lot of to try to contain Michael Vick -- so his playing time was severely limited. Hawk had one tackle on the day.
Analysis: Hawk not seeing much playing time obviously hurts his Fantasy value. While his production has dipped over the past two seasons, he should still be valuable in 2010. Hosting Buffalo in Week 2 should give him more chances to play, as they don't have a mobile quarterback like Vick. Consider Hawk a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy LB.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (ankle) did not start Thursday's preseason game against the Colts, but he did enter the game. He recorded one tackle in the game. Hawk returned to practice on Monday after suffering an ankle injury last Thursday.
Analysis: Hawk's production has dipped the past two seasons, in which he's averaged 88 tackles after exceeding 100 in his first two campaigns. But he'll be spending his second season in the 3-4 defense, so he should be more comfortable in the scheme. Expect him to reach 100 tackles again in 2010, which makes him a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy LB.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk returned to practice on Monday after suffering an ankle injury on Thursday. Hawk should be able to play in the team's next preseason game on Thursday against the Colts.
Analysis: Hawk should be a solid Fantasy linebacker as an interior run-stuffer for the Packers, but since the team moved to 3-4, he and Nick Barnett have each taken a hit in total tackle production. He's good enough to be considered a No. 2 Fantasy LB worth a middle- to late-round pick.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (ankle) did not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Hawk twisted his ankle in practice earlier this week and isn't expected to miss too much time with the injury. Hawk might be OK for Green Bay's next preseason game on Thursday, but management might just keep their starting LB out as a precaution. Hawk is a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy LB in IDP play.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk suffered a sprained ankle in Thursday morning's practice, and did not participate in the evening session. It is not believed to be a serious injury.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk has been stunning in camp this offseason, prompting praise from coaches and players. One reason why he's been playing well might be because he's entering to what amounts to a contract year because he's owed $11 million 2011 and the Packers aren't likely to pay it. Hawk is denying it's a factor but did say he wants to play for the Packers for a while. Head coach Mike McCarthy is living in the present and loves what he sees. "I would think A.J. is probably having his best camp in his time here," McCarthy said. "His conditioning is at the highest level. I think hes taken it to another level this year, and I think hes been very productive out here."
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk intercepted his second pass of the season on Sunday in a Week 16 win over the Seahawks. Hawks other interception was in Week 13 against Baltimore. He added six tackles to his stat line in the game against Seattle.
Analysis: Hawk is having a decent season with the Packers but his production in terms of Fantasy has not been overly impressive. Think of him as a low-end option in IDP formats for Week 17 against Arizona.
News: Green Bay DB Nick Collins, DB Tramon Williams and LB A.J. Hawk each intercepted Baltimore QB Joe Flacco once during the Monday night game in Week 13.
Analysis: Of these defenders, Collins and Hawk are worth owning in Fantasy play in IDP leagues. You can use them in Week 14 at Chicago.
News: Playing on Thanksgiving Day at Detroit, notable Packers defenders included: LBs Nick Barnett and A.J. Hawk (10 total tackles each), CB Tramon Williams (five solo tackles, interception), FS Nick Collins (three solo tackles, interception) and LB Clay Matthews (two total tackles, sack).
Analysis: Of these defenders, Burnett, Collins and Hawk are worth owning in Fantasy play, though Matthews is an up-and-comer. These defenders should be useful again in Week 13 vs. the Ravens.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk led his team with seven tackles and a sack in a Week 9 loss to the Buccaneers. He also made an interception, but he was penalized for illegal contact on the play.
Analysis: Hawk has been a little inconsistent this season, but is still worth using in deeper IDP leagues for Week 10 vs. Dallas.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk led the team with eight tackles Week 7 in an easy win at Cleveland. Nick Barnett finished second on the team with six tackles.
Analysis: Hawk had been struggling in recent weeks and had seen his role reduced but turned it around against a terrible Browns team. Barnett has 37 tackles on the season and is also a low-end Fantasy option in IDP leagues. Both guys are only decent plays Week 8 against Minnesota.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk led the team in tackles in Week 3's win over the Rams. Hawk totaled 10 stops in the game.
Analysis: Hawk now has 19 tackles this season in three games. He's playing like a No. 1 Fantasy option in IDP play worth starting each and every week at the moment, though he's probably more like a No. 2 Fantasy option realistically. Still, you can start him Week 4 at Minnesota.
News: Packers LB Aaron Kampman had seven tackles Sunday against Cincinnati. He got help from LB A.J. Hawk (four tackles), LB Nick Barnett (three tackles), DL Cullen Jenkins (two tackles, one sack) and LB Brandon Chillar (two tackles).
Analysis: The Packers should do well in Week 3 at the Rams. Start all your regular Packers defenders in IDP leagues at St. Louis.
News: The Green Bay Packers break training camp Friday, but decisions on playing time at the linebacker spots have yet to be settled. Brandon Chillar, who has been filling in with the first-team defense while Nick Barnett recovers from a knee injury, has arguably been the team's best linebacker during camp, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. And Desmond Bishop is beginning to show that he's more than a special teams ace. With room for four starting linebackers in the Packers' new 3-4 scheme, as many as eight players are jockeying for top spots. About the only linebacker whose starting job appears to be safe is Aaron Kampman, a two-time Pro Bowl defensive end who was moved to left-side outside linebacker in the offseason. The other outside linebacker spot is up for grabs while Chillar and Bishop are pushing for the inside spots held by Barnett and A.J. Hawk.
Analysis: The Packers might be in the market for a trade in the next couple of weeks. Of these players, Kampman is a decent No. 2 Fantasy option since he'll get a lot of sacks but not a lot of tackles as a pass-rushing linebacker (not a defensive end). Hawk's stats should improve, especially if Barnett doesn't play right away. Chillar and Bishop are no better than late-round sleepers in IDP leagues.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk recorded eight tackles and a sack during a Week 15 loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues and is worth starting in Week 16 at Chicago.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had five tackles Sunday against Houston.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues and is worth starting in Week 15 at Jacksonville.
News: In the Packers' 35-31 loss vs. the Panthers in Week 13, notable defensive players included: LB A.J. Hawk (nine total tackles), DE Aaron Kampman (four total tackles, two sacks), CB Tramon Williams (four solo tackles, forced fumble) and CB Charles Woodson (six total tackles, forced fumble and recovery).
Analysis: Of these guys, all but Williams are worth starting in all IDP leagues. The Packers host the Texans in Week 14.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (seven tackles), LB Brandon Chillar (seven tackles), DB Charles Woodson (sack, four tackles), DB Nick Collins (four tackles) and DL Aaron Kampman (three tackles) led the way for Green Bay in a Week 11 rout of the Bears.
Analysis: Kampman and Collins are solid top-two guys at their respective position in IDP leagues, while Hawk and Woodson are also worth starting in most Fantasy leagues. Chillar is the only one in this list with zero value heading into Week 12 at New Orleans.
News: The Green Bay Packers are working though a few different options to replace injured middle linebacker Nick Barnett, but it appears they've settled on the idea of moving A.J. Hawk inside. Hawk, a former Ohio State standout who has been the Packers' starting weak-side linebacker since the team took him in the first round of the 2006 draft, shifted to the middle of the Packers' base defense during the portion of Wednesday's practice that was open to the media. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said afterward that Hawk was one of three players who took practice repetitions at middle linebacker but acknowledged that Hawk "is getting a lot of work there." Hawk said he's ready for the challenge. "With Nick going down, nobody wanted that to happen," Hawk said. "But we have to somehow make it up, make up that ground that Nick's paved for us for a long time. So whether it's me or not, I'm going to try to relish the opportunity."
Analysis: Barnett tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on the first series of the second half in Sunday's loss at Minnesota. McCarthy said Monday that Barnett would miss the rest of the season. Hawk said the loss of Barnett, an intense player who has started since his rookie season of 2003, would be tough to handle. "The tone Nick helps set in practice, in games, the emotion he brings to games, the energy -- everyone can see that from watching," Hawk said. "It's going to be a huge loss. We're going to miss that a lot. But it needs to be a collective effort from everybody on this defense to try to make up for what he brings." Should Hawk move to the middle when the Packers are playing their base defense, Brady Poppinga and Brandon Chillar would play the outside positions. Both players have rotated at strong side linebacker this season, an attempt by Packers coaches to take advantage of Chillar's ability to cover tight ends and Poppinga's ability to play the run. The Packers' run defense will get worse before it gets better, and they'll host Matt Forte and the run-minded Bears in Week 11. Starting the Packers DST isn't a great idea in Week 11, but they'll do if other options on the waiver wire aren't as appealing. Hawk still remains a high-end Fantasy LB because of his playmaking skills.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had three tackles Sunday at Minnesota.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues and should be started in deep formats in Week 11 at Chicago.
News: In a 19-16 loss at Tennessee, notable Packers defenders include: DL Mike Montgomery (10 total tackles, sack), LBs Nick Barnett, A.J. Hawk and Brady Poppinga and DB Atari Bigby (six total tackles each) and DT Ryan Pickett (six total tackles, sack). Charles Woodson added five total tackles.
Analysis: Of the above, Barnett, Hawk, Bigby and Woodson are worth owning in IDP league play. Everyone else isn't worth holding on to. The Packers play at the Vikings in Week 10.
News: Packers cornerback Charles Woodson (toe), linebacker A.J. Hawk (groin) are probable for Week 7 vs. Indianapolis.
Analysis: Both options are good ones for IDP play, especially since both are expected to start. Keep them active, especially in moderate to deep Fantasy play.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) is listed as probable for Week 6 at Seattle. Hawk, who went through limited practice reps all week, dealt with the same injury leading up to Week 5 against the Falcons but was able to play.
Analysis: Hawk has 31 tackles, two sacks and one pass defense in five games this season. He continues to fill the stat sheet for the Packers and remains a high-end Fantasy LB.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin), who had been listed as a game-time decision, was activated for Week 5 vs. Atlanta. He was considered questionable on the injury report.
Analysis: Hawk has been active for each game this season, but there was a 50-50 chance he might not face the Falcons. When healthy, he is a solid start in all Fantasy IDP leagues as he usually racks up the tackle totals.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) was unable to practice Friday and the team has listed him as questionable for Week 5 vs. Atlanta. Hawk will be a game-time decision Sunday.
Analysis: Hawk has been active for each game this season, but there is a 50-50 chance he might not face the Falcons. If active, he is a solid start in Fantasy, so stay with us up until inactives are announced.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) went through limited practice reps for a second straight day Thursday as the team prepares for Week 5 vs. Atlanta. Hawk has been on the injury report just one other time in 2008 for a chest injury.
Analysis: Hawk has been active for each game this season and the fact he continues to practice is a good sign he could play Sunday. He has to avoid a setback, but if Hawk is active, consider him a solid Fantasy LB.
News: Green Bay LB A.J. Hawk was limited in practice on Wednesday with a groin injury. He's questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Analysis: Hawk has recorded 28 tackles over four games this season but only notched two last week against Tampa Bay. That said, he has definitely lived up his billing as a solid No. 1 Fantasy LB in all IDP formats, despite this poor outing in Week 4. He remains a great start in Week 5 against the Falcons, if healthy.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk was held to just two tackles in a Week 4 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Hawk had 26 tackles in his first three games this season, so he has definitely lived up his billing as a solid No. 1 Fantasy LB in all IDP formats, despite this poor outing in Week 4. He remains a great start in Week 5 against the Falcons.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had seven tackles and two sacks Sunday at Detroit.
Analysis: Hawk is a great source of tackles, and if he can sack the QB like this, he would be a No. 1 option. Continue to start Hawk in all IDP leagues at this time, especially in Week 3 against Dallas.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest) was able to play Week 1 against the Vikings despite being listed as questionable on the injury report. Hawk finished with a team-high 10 tackles (seven solo) and also had one quarterback hit.
Analysis: Hawk has been a monster since coming into the NFL in 2006, but that was expected. He is a solid No. 2 Fantasy LB when healthy.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest) is active and expected to start Week 1 against the Vikings. Hawk was questionable on the injury report and went through limited practice reps Friday.
Analysis: Hawk has been a monster since coming into the NFL in 2006, but that was expected. He is a solid No. 2 Fantasy LB when healthy.
News: Green Bay linebacker A.J. Hawk is making progress toward playing for the first time since he suffered a strained muscle in his chest in the Aug. 11 preseason opener. Hawk has been wearing a protective harness and returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis. He went through the full practice Friday and says he's optimistic he'll be ready Monday.
Analysis: Hawk remains a decent No. 2 LB for this matchup since the Vikings are expected to run the ball a lot.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest), DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (knee) and DL Ryan Pickett (hamstring) were among the team's inactives during Thursday's preseason game against the Titans.
Analysis: Hawk finished 2007 with 105 total tackles (78 solo) with a sack, an interception, four passes defensed and a forced fumble. He has missed most of the preseason, but the Packers still say it's not a major injury. Hawk remains a decent No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy LB heading into the season.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest), DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (knee) and DL Ryan Pickett (hamstring) were among the team's inactives during Thursday's preseason game against the Titans.
Analysis: KGB's injury is not considered serious and he is not expected to miss the start of the season, but he has still not played in the preseason. Perhaps we might start to worry. KGB had 9 1/2 sacks as a backup defensive end in 2007. He is once again a backup in 2008, but still has Fantasy value as a low-end option since he is a sack artist.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest), Justin Harrell (back), Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (knee) and Ryan Grant (Hamstring) were among the team's inactives during Friday's preseason game against the Broncos.
Analysis: Hawk finished 2007 with 105 total tackles (78 solo) with a sack, an interception, four passes defensed and a forced fumble. He has missed a few preseason games, but the Packers still say it's not a major injury. Hawk remains a decent No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy LB heading into the season.
News:Packers RB Ryan Grant, LB A.J. Hawk, WR Greg Jennings and DL Ryan Pickett sat Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers out with injuries.
Analysis: Consider Grant a No. 2 Fantasy RB until further notice. Pickett has little to no Fantasy value because he won't see enough of the field. Consider Jennings a solid No. 2 Fantasy option worth a pick around Round 4 in most leagues this year. Don't let this minor knee injury deter you on Draft Day. And as for Hawk, when healthy, Hawk is a solid No. 3 LB in IDP leagues.
News: The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Packers LB A.J. Hawk will miss Saturday's exhibition game against the San Francisco 49ers because of what coach Mike McCarthy called a "chest injury." While McCarthy indicated Hawk's injury wasn't significant, the fact Hawk wasn't able to practice illustrates the Packers aren't taking the injury lightly. It is believed that Hawk has never missed a practice for injury since joining the Packers in 2006. He never sat out a game, practice or workout in his four years at Ohio State, either. McCarthy was vague about Hawk's injury except to say that Hawk likely would not play if it were the regular season. As to when Hawk was expected back, McCarthy didn't have an answer.
Analysis: Hawk finished 2007 with 105 total tackles (78 solo) with a sack, an interception, four passes defensed and a forced fumble. Keep an eye on his health and hope he can return for the start of the season. When healthy, Hawk is a solid No. 3 LB in IDP leagues.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk, playing in all 16 games for the second straight season, finished 2007 with 105 total tackles (78 solo) with a sack, an interception, four passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Analysis: Believe it or not, Hawk's stats were down from his rookie season. Playing on the outside takes some chances for Hawk to make a play away, but he's still a polished, reliable Fantasy option as at least a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues that reward tackles. Look his way with a middle- to late-round pick in this summer's drafts.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had seven tackles and a sack in Week 15 at St. Louis.
Analysis: Hawk continues to be useful as a No. 2 Fantasy LB in IDP formats. Use him in that role for Week 16 at Chicago and beyond.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had eight tackles Sunday against Oakland.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 2 Fantasy LB in IDP leagues and should be started in Week 15 at St. Louis.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk led the team with eight tackles, seven solo, during a Week 13 loss to the Cowboys. He now has 79 tackles this season, but has only one game with 10-plus tackles.
Analysis: Hawk doesn't look like the same linebacker he was as a rookie and his numbers show it. They are still respectable, but he had much better stats last season. Right now, he should be treated as a No. 3 Fantasy LB.
News: LB A.J. Hawk assisted on five tackles at Detroit in a Thanksgiving Day matchup Thursday afternoon.
Analysis: Hawk remains a solid No. 2 Fantasy LB in all IDP formats for Week 13 at Dallas on Thursday.
News: Packers LB Nick Barnett (nine tackles), LB A.J. Hawk (nine tackles), DB Atari Bigby (eight tackles), LB Brady Poppinga (five tackles), DL Aaron Kampman (five tackles) and DL Corey Williams (four tackles, two sacks) all helped out in Green Bay's 31-17 win over the Panthers in Week 11.
Analysis: Barnett and Kampman are solid No. 1's at their respective positions in IDP leagues, while Hawk, Woodson and Bigby also have value as starters. Start them, but not Williams, Poppinga, in Week 12 when Green Bay visits Detroit on Thanksgiving afternoon.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk led his team with seven tackles in Green Bay's 34-0 win over the Vikings in Week 10.
Analysis: Hawk is a solid No. 2 Fantasy LB in all formats and should be considered that in Week 11 when the Packers host the Panthers.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had four tackles and an interception Sunday at Kansas City.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 1 LB in IDP leagues and should be started in all leagues in Week 10 against Minnesota.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had eight tackles and recovered a fumble Sunday against Washington.
Analysis: Hawk is a No. 1 LB and should be used in all Fantasy leagues. The Packers have off in Week 7 but play at Denver in Week 8, so start Hawk then.
News: A.J. Hawks played in Week 5 against the Bears and finished with five solo tackles and assisted on another stop.
Analysis: Hawk is a solid option in all IDP Fantasy leagues for when the Packers host the Redskins in Week 6.
News: Notable Packers defenders from Week 4 at Minnesota include: LB Nick Barnett (eight total tackles), LB A.J. Hawk (eight total tackles), DB Jarrett Bush (six solo tackles), DT Ryan Pickett (five solo tackles, sack), CB Charles Woodson (seven total tackles), DB Atari Bigby (four total tackles, interception, forced fumble), DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (three solo hits, two sacks, forced fumble) and DE Aaron Kampman (two tackles, sack).
Analysis: Barrett, Hawk and Kampman are must-start IDP options in all leagues, while Pickett, Woodson, Bush and Gbaja-Biamila are useful as reserves or low-end starters in deeper leagues. The Packers host the Bears in Week 5.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk had five tackles Sunday against the Eagles.
Analysis: Hawk is a low-end No. 1 LB in IDP leagues and should be started in Week 2 against the Giants.
News: Packers LB A.J. Hawk is in line for a better second season than first thanks to the Packers' addition of DT Justin Harrell via the draft. He finished last season with 119 total tackles (82 solo), 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries with six passes defensed and two interceptions.
Analysis: Hawk lived up to his hype and should only get better from here. Expect him to be a big piece of the Green Bay defense over the next 10 years and to be a No. 1 Fantasy LB in 2007.

Analysis: Hawk lived up to his hype and should only get better from here. Expect him to be a big piece of the Green Bay defense over the next 10 years and to be a No. 1 Fantasy LB in 2007.
News: Packers rookie LB A.J. Hawk started a little slow but finished 2006 very strong, ending up with 119 total tackles (82 solo), 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries with six passes defensed and two interceptions.
Analysis: Hawk lived up to his hype and should only get better from here. Expect him to be a big piece of the Green Bay defense over the next 10 years and to be a No. 1 Fantasy LB in 2007.

News: The Packers DST scored two touchdowns against the Bears when DB Nick Collins and DB Patrick Dendy returned a pair of interceptions. The Packers had five interceptions, two sacks and recovered a fumble. Collins finished with six tackles and two interceptions. Dendy finished with two tackles. DB Charles Woodson had five tackles and an interception. LB A.J. Hawk had four tackles and an interception. DL Aaron Kampman had six tackles. DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila had three tackles and a sack. DL Corey Williams had a sack. DL Ryan Pickett had one tackle and recovered a fumble.
Analysis: The Packers DST improved dramatically as the season came to a close. Consider them a No. 2 option in 2007 and a decent sleeper heading into next year.
News: The Packers DST got two interceptions and a fumble recovery against the 49ers. DB Nick Collins had six tackles and an interception. LB A.J. Hawk had five tackles and an interception. LB Nick Barnett had six tackles. DB Charles Woodson had two tackles and a fumble recovery. DL Aaron Kampman had five tackles and a half-sack. DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila had one tackle. DL Cullen Jenkins had two tackles and a half-sack.
Analysis: The Packers DST should not be used in Week 15 against Detroit but use all regular IDP players as needed.
News: Notable Packers defenders from Week 13 vs. the Jets include: LB A.J. Hawk (eight solo tackles), DB Nick Collins (nine total tackles, forced fumble), LB Nick Barnett (11 total tackles) and DB Marquand Manuel (seven total tackles). CB Charles Woodson and DB Patrick Dendy each had an interception.
Analysis: Of these players, Hawk, Barnett and Collins are must-starts in IDP leagues, with Manuel an option in deeper formats. Use them at San Francisco in Week 14.
News: Rookie A.J. Hawk had 10 solo tackles and five assists in Week 12 at Seattle to lead all players in the game.
Analysis: Hawk is a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy linebacker in all IDP leagues for Week 13 against the Jets. He is also a solid keeper in long-term leagues.
News: The Packers DST gave up 35 points against New England with two sacks and one fumble recovery. LB A.J. Hawk had 12 tackles and recovered a fumble. DB Marquand Manuel had 10 tackles. DL Colin Cole had seven tackles and a sack. DB Nick Collins had four tackles. DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila had four tackles and a sack. DB Charles Woodson had four tackles. DL Aaron Kampman had five tackles. LB Nick Barnett had three tackles. And DB Al Harris had four tackles.
Analysis: The Packers DST should not be used in Week 12 against Seattle. Use all IDP players as needed.
News: The Packers defense has notched 31 sacks on the season and is seeing improved play from their linebackers, who have the speed and know-how to get to the quarterback. One improved player is rookie A.J. Hawk, who has 4.0 sacks on the year to lead all linebackers (Aaron Kampman, a DE, has 9.5 sacks). "He's getting a feel on where to go and how to get there," defensive coordinator Bob Sanders said, referring to Hawk, in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "He has strength, speed and quickness."
Analysis: Consider Hawk a solid Fantasy option in deeper leagues at least, with potential to be a must-start option every week. He sure looks like the real deal as of late.
News: The Packers allowed 17 points and 312 yards of total offense in Week 10 at Minnesota. They sacked QB Brad Johnson four times, including one and a half sacks by LB A.J. Hawk.
Analysis: The Packers will face the Patriots at home in Week 11, a less than favorable matchup. Consider them only in the deepest of leagues.
News: The Packers DST had four sacks against Arizona and gave up 14 points. DL Aaron Kampman had two sacks and eight tackles. LB Nick Barnett had five tackles and a sack. DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila had three tackles and a half-sack. And DL Colin Cole had five tackles and a half-sack. DB Charles Woodson had an interception. LB A.J. Hawk had eight tackles.
Analysis: It was a good day for the Packers DST and consider them a good sleeper candidate for Week 9 against Buffalo. Use their IDP players if needed and consider them good starts.
News: Thanks to a proficient performance last time out, weak-side LB A.J. Hawk has supplanted middle LB Nick Barnett as the team leader for tackles. Hawk was credited with 16 (13 solo) by the coaches after they reviewed the film of the 34-24 victory at Miami on Sunday. The prized rookie, who was taken fifth overall in the draft, has 58 tackles through six games, one more than Barnett. Hawk has been getting ample opportunity to make plays in recent weeks. Defensive coordinator Bob Sanders is relying more on a nickel scheme, rather than a dime look, on passing downs that keeps Hawk on the field along with Barnett. "A.J. Hawk is a player that gets better every week, and we need to continue to put him in positions to be an impact player," head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday. Hawk is on pace to finish with 155 tackles, which would be the second-highest total by a Green Bay rookie. Rich Wingo had 166 in 1979, which also led the team that season. Barnett ranks second with 134 tackles in 2003, which also topped the team chart that season. Barnett has been the Packers' tackles leader each of his first three years in the league, improving to 162 in 2004 and a club-record 194 last season.
Analysis: Hawk is a great LB in IDP leagues and should be started every week.
News: The Packers DST scored a touchdown against Miami when DB Charles Woodson returned an interception for a score. Woodson also added six tackles and a sack. LB Nick Barnett also had an interception and nine tackles. LB A.J. Hawk had 12 tackles and a sack. LB Brady Poppinga had an interception. DL Aaron Kampman had three tackles and a sack. And DL Mike Montgomery had a tackle and a sack.
Analysis: The Packers are not a good DST option any week. Use these IDP players if needed next week.
News: Notable Packers defenders in Week 5 included: LB Nick Barnett (12 total tackles), safety Marquand Manuel (10 total tackles), LB A.J. Hawk (eight total tackles), DE Aaron Kampman (six total tackles, sack) plus half a sack for DL men Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Mike Montgomery.
Analysis: Of these players, Barnett and Kampman are must-start IDP players, whereas Gbaja-Biamila, Hawk and Manuel are serviceable but not must-starts. Montgomery is not worth watching in Fantasy play.
News: Aaron Kampman (head) and Ryan Pickett (ankle) were able to play in Week 4 at Philadelphia. Kampman had four solo tackles, assisted on another and was credited with a half of a sack. Pickett also chipped in with two sacks.
Analysis: Rookie A.J. Hawk also had two solo tackles, an assist and was credited with the other half of Kampman's sack. Only Hawk and Kampman are worth considering in IDP leagues for Week 5 against St. Louis.
News: A.J. Hawk's first sack looked smooth and controlled. So when is Packers coach Mike McCarthy going to press the buttons to make Hawk do it again? "There's other factors involved," McCarthy said Wednesday. "I need to start playing those video games, but I don't think it works like that." Hawk certainly looked like someone had just tapped the button for a speed burst. Pausing on the delay blitz in the fourth quarter against the Lions, Hawk blew through the hole and took down Jon Kitna, who barely had time to acknowledge Hawk was even coming, let alone avoid him. The impressive play and Hawk's 24 tackles in the first three games makes it easy to forget that the Packers' defense is giving up too many arcade-style long gains.
Analysis: Hawk continues to impress in his rookie campaign and is looking like a great IDP candidate. With his stats, consider him a No. 2 LB but quickly rising to possible No. 1 status.
News: The Green Bay Packers were able to walk out of Detroit with a 31-24 win in Week 3, but their defense took a beating giving up 424 yards. They did sack QB Jon Kitna three times, force one fumble and one interception. LB Nick Barnett led all tacklers with nine. Rookie LB A.J. Hawk had eight tackles and a sack. DL Corey Williams had three tackles and two sacks. While Marquand Manuel had seven tackles and an interception.
Analysis: The Packers defense has yet to hold an opponent under 350 total yards and remain a poor start in any league. Week 4 they travel to Philadelphia and there is no way you should want to play their DST against the Eagles, who have been on an offensive tear this season.
News: The Packers gave up 353 yards passing against Saints QB Drew Brees in a loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Despite several good individual performances by DB Nick Collins (eight tackles), LB A.J. Hawk (seven tackles), DB Charles Woodson (seven tackles, one fumble recovery), DL Aaron Kampman (four tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries), DL Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (two tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery) and LB Nick Barnett (four tackles), the Packers are not a good start in any league.
News: A.J. Hawk had just three solo tackles in his first official game with the Packers vs. Chicago in Week 1. He did assist on two tackles, however.
Analysis: Hawk should end up being a terror for opponents in the mold of Zach Thomas (but with better size and hopefully better durability). Give him a run in deeper IDP leagues as a No. 3 Fantasy LB. He'll get a lot more active as the season goes on.
News: A.J. Hawk was the team's highest draft pick since cornerback Terrell Buckley in 1992 and was considered by some as the most NFL ready-made rookie in this year's class. Hawk will start at weak-side linebacker from the get-go. He has progressed to the team's liking and has shown flashes throughout the preseason of being a ball-tracking menace. Pass coverage needs some work, though.
Analysis: Hawk should end up being a terror for opponents in the mold of Zach Thomas (but with better size and hopefully better durability). Give him a run in deeper IDP leagues as a No. 3 Fantasy LB in Week 1 vs. Chicago.
News: A.J. Hawk signed a six-year deal with the Green Bay Packers on Saturday morning and participated in his first training camp practice later in the day. Hawk isn't worried that he has fallen behind, but is eager to start practicing. "I wanted to make sure that I could get into camp on time and make sure I was here for pretty much everything," Hawk said. He is listed as the starting weak-side linebacker. "I just want to come in and try to have an impact somehow, somewhere on the field," Hawk said. "Wherever that is, I don't know. Whether that could be playing the (weak side) or playing special teams, whatever it is, I want to come out and just show the coaches and the team that I'm going to come out and play hard just like I did in college. I just want to help the team however I can."
Analysis: Hawk should end up being a terror for opponents in the mold of Zach Thomas (but with better size and hopefully better durability). He is a must-get in rookie-only drafts as a first-round pick, and will be a solid middle- to late-round choice in IDP leagues. Packers GM Ted Thompson said linebacker is one position where a talented rookie typically can get on the field from the start. "If you're a good player at the linebacker position, you can play right away," Thompson said. "And I think defense as a whole, I think young defensive players can play right away."
News: The Packers have agreed to a six-year deal with first-round draft pick A.J. Hawk. The linebacker's agent, Mike McCartney, said the sides were still working out details, meaning the Ohio State star and fifth overall draft pick was expected to miss the team's first training camp practice. He could be ready to go by Saturday. "A.J.'s ecstatic, and it's going to be great to see his impact as a Packer," McCartney said.
Analysis: Hawk should end up starting and being a terror for opponents in the mold of Zach Thomas (but with better size and hopefully better durability). He is a must-get in rookie-only drafts as a first-round pick, and will be a solid middle- to late-round choice in IDP leagues.
News: The Green Bay Packers drafted Ohio State LB A.J. Hawk with the No. 5 overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft. The Packers passed on Maryland TE Vernon Davis, who went No. 6 to the San Francisco 49ers.
Analysis: Hawk has immense pro potental and adds to what should be an improved Packers defense. He's worth a middle- to late-round choice in IDP leagues and makes the Pack worth a late-round choice in deeper traditional formats.
News: The San Jose Mercury News reports A.J. Hawk met with the San Francisco 49ers last week. The team has the No. 6 overall selection in the NFL Draft.
Analysis: Hawk could be headed to Green Bay, which holds the No. 5 overall selection. San Francisco has been tied to Maryland TE Vernon Davis and Tezas DB Michael Huff.
