News: Running back Noah Herron has signed with the Browns, who lost Jason Wright to free agency earlier this week. The 26-year-old Herron was drafted by Pittsburgh in the seventh round in 2005. The 5-foot-11, 225-pounder will battle in training camp with Jerome Harrison to fill Wright's role as a part-time back behind Jamal Lewis.	Analysis: Herron played 16 games for the Packers in 2006. He spent all of 2007 on Green Bay's injured reserve list with a knee injury and was inactive for all four games he was on Tampa Bay's roster last year. He'll be lucky to make the Browns' final roster -- keep him off of Fantasy rosters.

Not in uniform will be: QB Josh Johnson (third QB), QB Brian Griese (elbow), WR Dexter Jackson (coach's decision), SS Jermaine Phillips (forearm), RB Noah Herron (coach's decision), TE Alex Smith (ankle) and DT Greg Peterson (coach's decision).	Analysis: Smith and Phillips have some minimal Fantasy value when healthy, but Smith has now missed two straight weeks while Phillips is out for a third straight week. Smith will be replaced by Jerramy Stevens again. None of these other guys have any Fantasy value.

News: The Buccaneers signed fourth-year RB Noah Herron after placing Earnest Graham on injured reserved Wednesday. He has appeared in 23 games with Green Bay and Pittsburgh, rushing for 273 yards and three touchdowns and catching 29 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns.	Analysis: Herron gives the Buccaneers depth more than anything else and likely won't play a significant role on offense. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy leagues.

News: The Packers rushed for 94 yards as a team in Saturday's preseason game at Denver. Noah Herron got four carries for 27 yards, the second highest yardage on the team. Most of the yards came on a 14-yard scamper in the third quarter.	Analysis: Herron didn't play in 2007 after suffering a major knee injury before the start of the season. He is competing all over again for a spot on the Packers' RB depth chart after he watched DeShawn Wynn and then Ryan Grant post strong seasons in '07. He isn't likely to be useful in 2008 Fantasy play.

News: The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Packers RB Vernand Morency has a knee ligament strain that could keep him on the shelf for as long as a month. Morency hurt his knee in practice on July 28, which means he could be out for the entire preseason. "It's a knee strain, is what it's classified as," coach Mike McCarthy said. "It's a couple weeks. It could be two. It could be four."	Analysis: GM Ted Thompson added that Morency's injury isn't serious enough to consider bringing in another running back. What this adds up to is rookie Brandon Jackson at the front of the line to be the Packers' primary running back in 2007. Whether he shares reps with third-down back Noah Herron is another story, but Jackson is now in line to impress the coaches. Herron could work his way into a third-down role for the Packers; he'll almost certainly do that throughout the preseason. Treat him as a reserve Fantasy RB, albeit one who should be taken with a late pick in all leagues.

News: With their second-round pick, the Packers took Nebraska RB Brandon Jackson, a runner in the Ahman Green mold. Jackson is considered a power runner despite his 5-foot-11 size with decent hands. He ran a 4.41 40-yard dash in his campus workout but ran a 4.55 at the Combine. The book on him is that he has speed and good change-of-direction skills, but not explosion and no second gear, and the thinking in Green Bay is that the coaches will wait and see how the players do before determining their rotation. "If one individual can carry the load, prove himself to carry the load, then we'll go that way," coach Mike McCarthy told Packers.com. "But if not we'll play situations, back-by-committee, however you want to label it. We added a very good player to our running back group (in Jackson). That's the way I view it."	Analysis: Jackson will battle for the starting job with Vernand Morency with Herron being in the mix as a passing downs back. Morency should be considered a No. 4/reserve Fantasy RB until he proves that he's going to see more than 10 reps a game. He's worth a middle- to late-round pick. Herron should only be considered in the deepest of RB-intensive leagues that count receptions as a late-round flier.

News: Green Bay RB Noah Herron didn't start but did take over as the Packers' primary runner in place of Ahman Green (inactive with a hamstring injury), finishing with 106 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown with 20 receiving yards on five catches.	Analysis: Herron reminds us of a less-skilled version of Brian Westbrook -- he's a smallish, shifty player who has good hands and decent field vision. Whether or not he can hold up over the course of a season is an issue, but one he shouldn't have to face with Ahman Green sure to get healthy sooner than later. Feel free to pick up Herron as insurance for Green in case he can't get healthy to play Miami in Week 7 (Green Bay is off in Week 6).

News: According to a broadcast report, Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (knee) and Packers RB Ahman Green (hamstring) will both be inactive for Monday night's game.	Analysis: If you have either of them in your active lineup, remove them right away. Correll Buckhalter will get the nod for Philly and Vernand Morency will get his first start for the Packers. If neither back is available in your league at the last moment, Ryan Moats will see at least some light action for the Eagles and Noah Herron will see some third down carries. Anything you can get from those guys at the moment is better than taking a zero.

News: According to GreenBayPackers.com, RB Ahman Green (rib, hamstring) was downgraded from probable to questionable for Week 4 at Philadelphia. Green tweaked his hamstring in practice on Friday. He had hamstring problems last week at Detroit, but it is not his other hamstring that is giving him problems. "I'm hopeful he's going to play, just based on the information we have," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. "But it's just part of our game. We have to get Mo (Vernand Morency) and Noah (Herron) ready to go." Morency is expected to play on early downs and Herron will come in on third downs.	Analysis: Herron will not get many rushes even if Green doesn't play. He is not a viable RB option for Week 4.

News: A greater emphasis will be placed on ball security when practice resumes Wednesday in the wake of running backs Ahman Green and Noah Herron losing two fumbles in the Packers' 31-24 victory at Detroit on Sunday. "Just have to keep emphasizing it," head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday. "Those are two critical plays in the game that could have really factored into the football game." Herron cost the Packers potentially at least three points and maybe a touchdown when he had the ball stripped after catching a shovel pass inside the Lions' 10-yard line late in the first half. The Packers led 17-14 at the time. Then, with Green Bay protecting a 31-24 lead and the game clock inside of a minute in the fourth quarter, Green had the ball jarred out of his left arm on a run to the outside. Detroit, though, couldn't capitalize with a last-ditch touchdown that would have forced overtime. Green has had two fourth-quarter fumbles in the last two games. A turnover in Week 2 against New Orleans set up Deuce McAllister for a 23-yard touchdown run that proved to be the deciding points in the Saints' 34-27 win. Green, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, has a history of early-season fumbling problems. "(Running backs coach) Edgar Bennett does a good job with his individuals; he stresses (ball security) every day. We just have to keep emphasizing," McCarthy said. "That's our job -- teach and demand. We need to get it corrected."	Analysis: Green has been a pleasant surprise so far this season, outside of his fumbles. He should be considered a No. 2 RB for this week against Philadelphia. Herron has no Fantasy value at this time.

Analysis: Herron should not be owned in Fantasy leagues at this point. He will only start getting more carries if Ahman Green goes down with an injury. He is not a recommended start Week 4 at Philadelphia.

Analysis: The Packers host a Seattle team interested in keeping its starters healthy for the playoffs, not winning this battle. It may mean a game the Packers can compete in and win. Give Herron slim consideration.

News: Tony Fisher will start at running back for Green Bay in Week 16 vs. Chicago. Noah Herron was originally named the starter but head coach Mike Sherman has apparently changed his mind and announced Fisher as the starter during Friday's press conference. He also mentioned that William Henderson could receive some time at tailback.	Analysis: It's hard to envision using Tony Fisher in a Fantasy Football championship game, but he now has decent value. He could be used as a No. 3 RB or 'flex' option, but keep in mind that Chicago has a dominant defense. Herron is no longer a recommended option unless you're truly desperate and Henderson should not be used at all in Fantasy leagues.

News: The Journal Sentinel reports Noah Herron, not Tony Fisher, will see most of the carries in Week 16. The Packers would rather not move Fisher from his role as a third down back.	Analysis: Herron all of the sudden has value in FF leagues, but it's hard to start him in the FF championship against the Chicago Bears.
