News: Cardinals tight end Jeff King had knee surgery earlier this offseason and might miss the start of training camp according to the Arizona Republic.
Analysis: King might be the NFL veteran with the most playing time and least Fantasy relevance. He needs a nickname in tune with that, maybe email us some suggestions. With 156 catches and 12 touchdowns in seven seasons (84 starts!) we just don't expect him to become relevant for Fantasy purposes. Leave him off rosters.
News: Cardinals tight end Jeff King had his most productive game of the season in Week 8 against the 49ers. He caught three passes for 43 yards -- both season highs -- in the 24-3 loss. He had a long reception of 27 and averaged 13.4 yards per grab. King, who was targeted three times, finished third on Arizona in receiving behind wideouts Andre Roberts (65 yards) and Larry Fitzgerald (53 yards).
Analysis: King is mainly used as a blocking tight end in Arizona and has never been much of an option in Fantasy. Continue to ignore him in the majority of formats.
News: Cardinals tight end Jeff King finished with two receptions for 10 yards in Week 6 against the Bills. King was targeted four times and had a long of 9 yards in the 16-13 overtime loss.
Analysis: King is merely a blocking tight end, who sees a target or two each game. However, he mostly plays on short-yardage packages and therefore should continue to be ignored in all formats heading into Week 7.
News: The Cardinals removed tight end Jeff King from with Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, as his injured quad has healed. King hopes to play in the team's third preseason game against the Titans, though NFL.com is reporting that he is going to be worked back into the offense slowly in practice.
Analysis: King scored in each of the first two games last season, before going 12 games before his next one, so it is safe to say he is unreliable as a Fantasy option. It is good to see him get back to health, but he is not worth targeting in any Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
News: Cardinals tight end Jeff King began training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He's unable to practice with the team until he passes a physical and would be forced to miss the first six weeks of the regular season if he's not removed from the list by the end of the preseason. Coach Ken Whisenhunt expects King to be removed from the PUP list soon.
Analysis: Despite a solid start to the 2011 season, King is pretty much untouchable in Fantasy because his production isn't consistent. He'll have weeks where he won't catch more than one pass per game. Todd Heap and Rob Housler remain the Cardinals' top tight ends.
News: The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals backup tight end Jeff King tore a quadriceps muscle while working out this offseason. He was spotted Tuesday on crutches with a brace on his knee. The team hopes he'll be ready for the start of the season.
Analysis: Despite a solid start to the 2011 season, King is pretty much untouchable in Fantasy because his production isn't consistent. He'll have weeks where he won't catch more than one pass per game. Todd Heap and Rob Housler remain the Cardinals' top tight ends.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King scored a touchdown on his only catch of the game during the Cardinals' 23-16 loss to Cincinnati in Week 16. King hauled in a 2-yard pass from QB John Skelton during the fourth quarter to give him his first touchdown since Week 2 at Washington.
Analysis: King made his only reception -- and target -- count as he matched his career high for touchdown catches in a season. He has mustered just one reception in the past two games as he's struggled to produce in his first season with Arizona. Fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King made a couple catches during the Week 12 game at St. Louis. With John Skelton throwing the passes, King outplayed fellow tight end Todd Heap as he finished with two catches for 17 yards. King was Arizona's second-leading receiver in the game, in fact. King's long reception went for 10 yards and he did not score in the game.
Analysis: Heap has been injured all year and King hasn't really made his name known in his absence. Arizona heads home to play the Cowboys Week 13. Dallas is allowing the sixth-most Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. That said, the unit held Miami's Anthony Fasano to just two catches for 32 yards Week 12 and hasn't allowed a tight end to score since Week 8 of the season. King is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 13.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King had four receptions for 26 yards during the Cardinals 21-17 win over Philadelphia in Week 10. King was in the starting lineup after Todd Heap was ruled inactive with a recurring hamstring injury. He finished with a quality average of 6.5 yards per catch, but was unable to reach the end zone for the seventh straight game. He remains stuck on two touchdowns -- both scored in the first two weeks -- this season.
Analysis: King was one of only two healthy tight ends available Sunday as injuries continue to cripple Arizona this season. He was unable to find much room against the Eagles defense and finished with less than 40 yards for the eighth consecutive outing. Kings progress was also limited by John Skelton, who was making his second start and completed just 52.5 percent of his passes. Consider King a low-end Fantasy option.
News: With two other tight ends listed on the team's injury report, Arizona TE Jeff King could be in the starting lineup for Week 10 at Philadelphia. Starting TE Todd Heap (hamstring) is questionable while rookie Rob Housler (groin) is doubtful as the Cardinals attempt to build a winning streak for the first time this season. King has registered 14 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns this year, but hasn't scored since Week 2.
Analysis: King seems to be in line for a larger role in the offense every week as Arizona has been plagued by injuries this season. However, the 28-year-old has failed to take advantage of those opportunities and not surpassed 35 receiving yards in a game over his past six outings. The Eagles own a tough secondary and are allowing an average of seven Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Keep King on the bench even if he starts Sunday.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King hauled in three passes for 29 yards during the Cardinals' 30-27 loss to Baltimore in Week 8. King, who earned the starting nod with Todd Heap (hamstring) out for the third straight game, caught every target from QB Kevin Kolb and posted an average of 9.7 yards per catch.
Analysis: King turned in a better showing than his one-catch performance against Pittsburgh in Week 7 and finished with at least nine yards per reception for the fourth time this season. He will continue to receive playing time with Heap sidelined, but has not reached the end zone since Week 2. Consider him a marginal TE option in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King could be in line for another start in Week 8 after Todd Heap was listed as questionable on the team's injury report with a hamstring injury. King filled in for Heap against Pittsburgh in Week 7, but was held to just one catch for 10 yards. Fellow TE Rob Housler -- the only other tight end healthy for the game -- didn't fare much better as he tallied two receptions for 28 yards.
Analysis: After spending his first five years in the NFL with Carolina, King has struggled in his first season with the Cardinals and surpassed two receptions in a game only once. The 28-year-old also has not hauled in a touchdown pass during the past four weeks as he also has been limited by QB Kevin Kolb's ineffectiveness. Fantasy owners should not consider King a viable option against the Ravens, who are allowing an average of five Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this year.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King had just one catch for 10 yards during the Cardinals' 32-20 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 7 on Sunday. King was in the starting lineup and hauled in his only target from QB Kevin Kolb. Fellow TE Rob Houser finished with two receptions for 28 yards.
Analysis: King was one of only two healthy tight ends available for the Cardinals as Todd Heap and Jim Dray were inactive because of injuries. Both players were limited as Arizona was paced by WR Larry Fitzgerald (78 yards on four catches). King was coming off his finest outing of the season in Week 5 when he had five receptions, but was unable to duplicate that total. Consider him a low-end option in Week 8 against Baltimore if he starts.
News: With TE Todd Heap (hamstring) officially listed as questionable for Week 7 against Pittsburgh, Arizona TE Jeff King could be inserted into the starting lineup. King is one of three possible tight ends who may see playing time Sunday if Heap is unable to dress, including Rob Housler and Jim Dray.
Analysis: King is coming off a solid outing in his last game before the Cardinals' bye in Week 6, racking up five receptions for 35 yards in a rout over Minnesota. He has gone through disappearing acts this year and failed to catch a pass during Week 3 at Seattle. King is the only Arizona tight end to reach the end zone and has two touchdowns this year. The Steelers are permitting an average of seven Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends so Fantasy owners should monitor Heap's status as King could make for a late replacement.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King finished second on the team in catches on Sunday of Week 5 at Minnesota. King caught five passes from Kevin Kolb as he went for 35 yards in the game. King was targeted six times in the passing game with Todd Heap out injured for the game.
Analysis: With Heap out for Week 5, we knew King would see more looks. That said, backup tight end Rob Housler looked just as good in the Week 5 game against the Vikings. King has a couple touchdowns on the season, but his numbers aren't big enough for him to really matter in most Fantasy leagues. The Cardinals have a bye in Week 6, so King should not be starting in any Fantasy leagues. The Cardinals return Week 7 against the Steelers and Heap should be healthy by then.
News: Arizona TE Jeff King is turning into a nice little goal-line threat for QB Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals. King scored for the second time in as many games on Sunday of Week 2 in a loss at Washington. King caught two passes for 36 yards and one of them was a 21-yard TD pass from Kolb to open the scoring in the first quarter. King was targeted twice in the game by Kolb.
Analysis: King is right around 100 yards receiving after two games this season and he's scored a touchdown in each contest. It seems apparent that Kolb has developed a nice little rapport with King and that he's going to target the big TE in the red zone. At this point, even with Todd Heap on the roster, King has to be considered the top tight end for the Cardinals. Fantasy owners should start looking at him closely for more usage in Week 3 at Seattle. King could be a worth-while add in any Fantasy league where owners are looking for an injury replacement or extra tight end. King should be considered a solid No. 2 option for Week 3.
News: Cardinals TE Jeff King scored his seventh career touchdown in Week 1 against the Panthers. King was on the receiving end of a 48-yard strike from Kevin Kolb in the third quarter, which tied the score 14-14 right after halftime. He finished with two receptions for 61 yards in the 28-21 victory after being targeted three times.
Analysis: King is merely a blocking TE for the Cardinals, who happened to get open on a broken play Sunday. He will likely be unable to duplicate his Week 1 performance during most games, which is why he can be ignored in the majority of formats heading into Week 2.
News: ESPN.com reports the Cardinals have agreed to terms with former Panthers TE Jeff King.
Analysis: King has spent his entire career with Carolina, totaling 112 catches for 923 yards and nine touchdowns in five seasons. He is mostly in the lineup for his blocking skills, so the move to Arizona doesn't really improve his almost non-existent Fantasy value.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King produced his team's only touchdown in Week 17 against the Falcons on a 2-yard catch with 23 seconds left to play. It actually helped him get into the positive as well since his first catch went for minus-1 yard in the first quarter. King had two touchdown catches in his last three games.
Analysis: King is the Panthers' starting tight end, but he is mostly in the lineup for his blocking presence. Even with the new coaching staff arriving in 2011, we doubt King's role will change. He is not going to have much, if any, Fantasy value on Draft Day next summer.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King totaled 15 yards on two receptions in the Panthers' 27-3 loss at Pittsburgh in Week 16 on Thursday night. King was targeted twice by Carolina QB Jimmy Clausen and hauled in both passes.
Analysis: King was coming off one of his best games of the season in Week 15 when he scored a touchdown against Arizona. He could not duplicate the feat as the Panthers were held to just 45 passing yards in the loss. Leave King on waivers for Week 17.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King found himself wide open on a 16-yard touchdown Sunday as his one catch in a Week 15 win over the Cardinals gave him his first score of the season.
Analysis: King is a little-used option in the Panthers offense, and he had to be smiling wide when he found himself so wide open on Sunday. Continue to ignore King in Fantasy play heading into Week 16 at Pittsburgh.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for 4 yards Week 10 at Tampa Bay. He has yet to catch more than three passes in a game this season.
Analysis: King usually gets a couple looks underneath, but he's not a big-play threat and, like most Panthers receivers, rarely factors in the red zone. Don't bother with him in Fantasy.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King tied a season-high with three catches for 17 yards in Week 9 against the Saints. He also had three catches in Week 5 against the Bears. King has 10 catches in eight games.
Analysis: King is on pace for his norm of 20-25 catches. He has never been a huge part of the Panthers' passing game. Although, he will get a token touchdown every now and then. King is clearly too risky of a Fantasy option. The Panthers play the Bucs in Week 10.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 22 yards in a Week 8 loss at St. Louis.
Analysis: King has done a whole lot nothing this season, pretty much like the entire panthers team. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy play heading into Week 8 vs. the Saints.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King will face the N.Y. Giants on the road in Week 1. He has faced the Giants three times in his career, totaling just two catches for 13 yards with one touchdown.
Analysis: He caught just one pass in last season's Week 16 meeting between the two teams, but it was a two-year touchdown from current starting QB Matt Moore. King is not featured heavily in the pass offense and is not a player we recommend starting as even a No. 2 TE for Week 1. He had three touchdowns last season, but never caught more than three passes in a game.
News: The Panthers decided to use the second-round tender of $1.759 million on tight end Jeff King. The veteran is expected to not garner much attention from other teams because he'll cost a second-round pick as compensation if signed away from Carolina.
Analysis: King caught three touchdown passes this season, his fourth in the NFL all with the Panthers. He doesnt produce consistently enough to warrant Fantasy use and that figures to continue heading into next season. Hes not worth taking come Draft Day 2010.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King made one reception for 3 yards in the Week 17 season finale win over the Saints.
Analysis: King caught three touchdown passes this season, his fourth in the NFL all with the Panthers. He doesnt produce consistently enough to warrant Fantasy use and that figures to continue heading into next season. Hes not worth taking come Draft Day 2010.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for a 1-yard gain in Week 16 at the Giants. It was his only target of the game.
Analysis: King got just one look and that's more or less what Fantasy owners should expect from him. He does not get enough touches to matter in Fantasy and should be reserved in all leagues.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had three catches for 17 yards Sunday against the Vikings.
Analysis: King is a low-end Fantasy TE and should not be used in any leagues in Week 16 at the Giants.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King made a couple of grabs in a Week 14 loss to New England.
Analysis: King is the starting TE in Carolina but doesn't make nearly enough of a contribution to be worth using in Week 15 vs. Minnesota.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught three balls for 17 yards in the Week 13 win over Tampa Bay. His long grab went for 15 yards.
Analysis: King has two touchdowns this season but didnt have a catch at all during Weeks 11 and 12. He has little Fantasy value and should not be used Week 14 at New England.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught two passes for 22 yards in the Week 10 win over the Falcons. His long went for 13 yards.
Analysis: King caught touchdowns in Week 5 and 6 but has just 15 catches on the season for 145 yards. He is too inconsistent in a mediocre passing game to be used in Fantasy play for Week 11 against Miami on Thursday.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King, K Rhys Lloyd and QB Matt Moore didn't record offensive statistics Week 9 at New Orleans.
Analysis: None of these players ever contributes enough statistically to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for 5 yards Week 8 at Arizona. He has no more than three receptions in any game this season.
Analysis: King plays a consistent role on offense, but he doesn't factor much in the passing game, particularly since the Panthers have such a poor one. Leave him on waivers for Week 9 at New Orleans.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught a season-high three passes for 23 yards against the Bills in Week 7. He entered the game with a total of nine receptions in five games.
Analysis: King plays a consistent role on offense, but he doesn't factor much in the passing game, particularly since the Panthers have such a poor one. Leave him on waivers for Week 8 at Arizona.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught a 1-yard TD pass from Jake Delhomme in the 3rd quarter of the Panthers' Week 6 win over Tampa Bay. King caught two passes for 8 yards.
Analysis: King has caught exactly two passes in four straight games but has yet to top 38 yards receiving. He does have touchdown catches in two straight weeks. The Panthers passing game is terrible under Delhomme but he has found tight ends for all four of his TD passes this season. That could bode well Week 7 against Buffalo. We still don't really like King in Fantasy play.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught two passes for 30 yards Week 5 in a win over the Redskins. King hauled in a 17-yard TD pass from Jake Delhomme in the 3rd quarter.
Analysis: Delhomme has yet to hit a WR for touchdown but has found tight ends a few times this year. King caught his first in Week 5. He now has seven catches for 87 yards on the season for the Panthers. He is still not a recommended Fantasy option Week 6 at Tampa Bay.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught two passes for 17 yards in Week 3's Monday night loss to the Dallas Cowboys. King went for a long grab of 12 yards. King now has five receptions on the year for 57 yards.
Analysis: King is not targeted often enough in the team's pass offense to be considered a viable Fantasy tight end. Leave him on waivers in all leagues until further notice. Carolina has a bye in Week 4 and plays at home against the Redskins Week 5.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 38 yards in Week 2 at Atlanta. He had one catch for two yards during a Week 1 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: King is not targeted often enough in the team's pass offense to be considered a viable Fantasy tight end. Leave him on waivers in all leagues until further notice.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had one catch for two yards during a Week 1 loss to the Eagles. King was targeted just twice in the game.
Analysis: King is the starting tight end for the Panthers, but he is more on the field for his blocking than receiving. He did have a 46-catch season in 2007, but we aren't playing for a repeat performance in 2009 at this time. King has minimal Fantasy appeal heading into Week 2 against the Falcons. King had two catches for 10 yards in two games against Atlanta last season.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports second-year TE Gary Barnidge has been getting some repetitions with the first-team offense, ahead of starter Jeff King. "He's got some good down-field speed and had a good offseason," said Fox of Barnidge. "He's a big target and an adequate blocker and he gives us a threat down the field."
Analysis: Barnidge will see playing time, but he's in a rotation with King and Dante Rosario. Keep an eye on how each are used, but don't plan on drafting any of them in any format this season. At best, the starter could be considered a bye-week replacement.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports the Panthers are going with Jeff King as the starting TE followed by Dante Rosario and Gary Barnidge on the depth chart.
Analysis: While this is a good thing for King, he has minimal Fantasy value and should only be used as a bye-week replacement during the season. Rosario is also not worth drafting in any formats.
News: Panthers tight end Jeff King (knee) missed practice Wednesday. He is still expected to try and play at New Orleans in Week 17.
Analysis: King hasn't been productive enough to warrant use in Fantasy play. Don't bother considering him in Week 17 whether he's active or not.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for 11 yards in Week 16 at the Giants.
Analysis: King might get a few token grabs every now and then, but for the most part, he doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers.
News: TE Jeff King was one of only four Panthers receivers to catch a pass on Sunday in Week 16 against the Broncos. It went for 15 yards. Steve Smith had nine catches for 165 yards in the game.
Analysis: King might get a few token grabs every now and then, but for the most part, he doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 against the Giants in New York.
News: Panthers TE Dante Rosario, TE Jeff King, RB Nick Goings, TE Gary Barnidge, WR Mark Jones and QB Josh McCown didn't record offensive statistics Week 14 against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Rosario and King might get a few token grabs every now and then, but for the most part, none of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers for Week 15 against the Broncos.
News: In the Panthers' 35-31 win at the Packers in Week 13, TE Jeff King caught a 9-yard pass.
Analysis: King doesn't put up enough big stats on a consistent basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters. The Panthers host the Buccaneers in Week 14.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King, who had a touchdown reception in his last game, caught only two passes for 10 yards Week 12 at Atlanta.
Analysis: King doesn't factor enough on offense to have any real Fantasy appeal. Leave him on waivers for Week 13 at Green Bay.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught two passes in Week 11's win over the Lions. King's second grab went for a touchdown from Jake Delhomme. King caught a 15-yard TD in the 2nd quarter.
Analysis: King is a low-end Fantasy TE and should not be used in Week 12 at Atlanta despite the TD.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King caught one pass for nine yards in Week 10's win over the Raiders.
Analysis: King is a low-end Fantasy TE and should not be used in Week 11 against Detroit.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had three catches for 41 yards Sunday against Carolina.
Analysis: King is a low-end Fantasy TE and should not be used in Week 10 at Oakland when the Panthers return from their bye week.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for six yards Week 7 against the Saints.
Analysis: King technically starts for the Panthers, but he doesn't catch as many passes as Dante Rosario these days. Leave him on waivers for Week 8 against the Cardinals.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for three yards in Week 6 at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: King continues to split time at tight end with Dante Rosario, but is still good for a catch or two on most weeks. Still, he doesn't usually post enough stats to matter in Fantasy.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had two catches for 17 yards during a Week 5 win against the Chiefs. He caught both of the passes thrown his way and now has eight catches for 72 yards in five games.
Analysis: King continues to split time at tight end with Dante Rosario, but is still good for a catch or two on most weeks. Still, he doesn't usually post enough stats to matter in Fantasy. The Panthers play the Bucs Week 6.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had three catches for 22 yards Sunday at Minnesota.
Analysis: King shares the tight end role with Dante Rosario, who had two catches for 18 yards. Neither TE is worth starting in Week 4 against Atlanta.
News: Four Panthers who helped pitch in their Week 2 win vs. Chicago include: RB Brad Hoover (5-yard rush, 18 receiving yards), RB Nick Goings (minus-2-yard rush), TE Jeff King (29 receiving yards) and WR D.J. Hackett (22-yard catch).
Analysis: Of these players, only Hackett has some Fantasy relevance, and that will take a dip in Week 3 when the Panthers get back WR Steve Smith from a suspension. In reality, none of these players belong on a Fantasy roster. The Panthers play at the Vikings in Week 3.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had one catch for four yards during a Week 1 win against the Chargers. He caught the only pass that came his way from QB Jake Delhomme.
Analysis: King started alongside fellow TE Dante Rosario, but it was Rosario who stole the show with seven catches, including the game-winning touchdown as time expired. That doesn't bode well for King, who had 46 receptions in 2007. King was a fringe Fantasy TE to begin and should not be started Week 2 as the Panthers play the Bears.
News: TE Jeff King was a mild sleeper heading into 2008, and after a good Week 3 game at Atlanta, he was a trendy low-end starter at his position. However, he trailed off after that game and wasn't very effective as anything more than a No. 2 TE even though the Panthers had plenty of problems at quarterback. In total, King caught 46 passes(on 80 targets) for 406 yards and two touchdowns, easily outnumbering his 2006 total of one catch for 1 yard and one touchdown.
Analysis: Entering his third year, King might have some competition for the starting job from 2007 rookie Dante Rosario. However, any Panthers tight end would be considered nothing more than a low-end sleeper in 2008 Fantasy play.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King, RB Alex Haynes, WR Dwayne Jarrett, TE Christian Fauria and QB David Carr all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 16 vs. Dallas.
Analysis: Most of these players are either reserves or don't factor enough into the offense to rack up the necessary stats needed for Fantasy. They are of little help to Fantasy owners and can be left off rosters heading into Week 17 against the Bucs.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had two catches for 13 yards vs. Seattle in Week 15.
Analysis: Once a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE, King is not in a position to help Fantasy owners on a regular basis. Leave him on the waiver wire until further notice. The Panthers host the Cowboys next Saturday night as part of Week 16.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 19 yards in Week 14 at Jacksonville.
Analysis: King is the primary pass-catching tight end in Carolina, but it is an offense that struggles to pass the ball. We wouldn't recommend using him as anything more than a No. 2 tight end in leagues of 12-plus teams for Week 15 vs. Seattle.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for four yards, including a 1-yard touchdown, in Week 13 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: King is the primary pass-catching tight end in Carolina, but it is an offense that struggles to pass the ball. We wouldn't recommend using him as anything more than a No. 2 tight end in leagues of 12-plus teams for Week 14 at Jacksonville.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught five passes for 36 yards in Week 12 vs. New Orleans.
Analysis: King is part of an offense in shambles with its best scenario coming when veteran Vinny Testeverde is the starter. He may become a decent safety valve receiver, but we wouldn't consider him anything more than an injury replacement for Week 13 vs. San Francisco.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King has had two catches in four of his last five games, topping 15 receiving yards once in that span. King and the Panthers host the Saints in Week 12.
Analysis: King is at best a low-end No. 2/reserve Fantasy TE. Try to steer clear of him in Fantasy play.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 13 yards in Carolina's 31-17 loss to the Packers in Week 11.
Analysis: King now has five two-catch games in his last five and it looks like his 10-catch outing in Week 8 was just a freak thing. He is nothing more than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 12's game against the Saints.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King has four two-catch games in his last five contests with a 10-catch, 82-yard effort sandwiched in between them. Carolina plays at Green Bay in Week 11.
Analysis: The Packers gave up 109 yards and a touchdown on 10 catches to Tony Gonzalez in Week 9, so King does have a legitimate chance to get loose against them. Consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE in Week 11.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 31 yards in Week 10 vs. Atlanta.
Analysis: King isn't in a position to help most Fantasy owners. He's in a pass offense that is really hurting, so much that they are starting un-retired QB Vinny Testaverde. We don't recommend him as anything more than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy tight end in Week 11 vs. Green Bay.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King followed up his 10-catch, 83-yard effort in Week 8 with a two-catch, 14-yard effort in Week 9. King will try to produce a solid performance against the Falcons in Week 10, a team in which he caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown against in Week 3.
Analysis: King is an often forgotten option at the tight end position and could be a nice option for a bye-week replacement in Week 10. Consider him a high-end No. 2 TE against the Falcons.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King, who has 10 catches in Week 8, was held to two catches for 14 yards in Carolina's 20-7 loss to the Titans in Week 9.
Analysis: King is part of a poor passing game in Carolina, and will not put up consistently good weeks while the mess at QB continues in Charlotte. He will get a nice week now and again, but isn't worth looking at as a No. 1 Fantasy TE option in Week 10 when the Panthers host the Falcons.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King, coming off a career game against the Colts in which he caught 10 passes for 82 yards, will look to keep his nice season going against the Titans in Week 9.
Analysis: With the Titans run defense as stout as it is, the Panthers will have to go to the air in Nashville. King owners will hope Carolina is coming from behind again like they were in Week 8, as King thrived vs. the Colts. Consider King a nice No. 2 TE and bye-week replacement option in Week 9.
News: Carolina TE Jeff King had 10 catches for 82 yards Sunday against the Colts. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: King is a No. 2 Fantasy TE and should be used that way in Week 9 against the Titans.
News: Since scoring in Week 3 against the Falcons, Panthers TE Jeff King has only caught five passes. He will look to get back in the endzone in Week 8 when he faces off against the Colts, who have one of the league's top TEs in the form of Dallas Clark.
Analysis: With six teams off in Week 8, King has some bye-week replacement value, but not much. Still, pick him up if you don't have any other option at TE.
News: Carolina WR Keary Colbert (three catches, 29 yards), WR Drew Carter (two catches, 17 yards), TE Jeff King (two catches, 12 yards) and RB Brad Hoover (one catch, six yards) all made contributions in the Panthers' 25-10 win over the Cardinals in Week 6.
Analysis: King has some value as a bye-week replacement TE, but none of these other guys have any Fantasy value at this time.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught two passes for 33 yards in Week 5 at the Saints.
Analysis: The entire Panthers' passing game has suffered in the absence of No. 1 QB Jake Delhomme, and King didn't pass in Week 4 -- the first game without him. Accordingly, consider King nothing more than a bye-week replacement for Week 6 at the Cardinals.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King went from catching at least four passes in every game to only one catch last week against Tampa Bay. David Carr made his first start against the Bucs and wasn't able to connect with King.
Analysis: Until Carr starts to look comfortable, consider keeping King on the bench even though he got off to a good start this season. The Panthers play at New Orleans in Week 5.
News: Jeff King's streak of consecutive games with at least four catches was broken last week vs. the Bucs when he made one grab. This week, King and the Panthers play at New Orleans, who have been shoddy against the pass -- tight ends have totaled 119 yards and a touchdown against them through three games this season.
Analysis: King is still an undiscovered TE in most leagues (owned in just 39 pct. of CBSSports.com leagues). If you're considering him as a No. 2 Fantasy option, then he's not a bad pick, especially with the Panthers coaches likely to point David Carr in his direction. He's even good enough to be a bye-week replacement in Week 5.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught one pass for 14 yards in Week 4 vs. Tampa Bay.
Analysis: King is not a major target in the offense and is not useful in Fantasy play. Leave him on the waiver wire.
News: So who is this Jeff King fellow we're telling you to pick up? He's the Panthers tight end who is getting a chance to play after the club let go of Michael Gaines and saw Kris Mangum retire this offseason. Not since Wesley Walls have the Panthers had even a decent tight end threat for Fantasy owners to consider. King has never caught a pass against the Bucs, but has caught at least four passes in each game this season, scoring a touchdown at Atlanta last week.
Analysis: Moreover, if David Carr is Carolina's quarterback this week, then King should emerge as his short-area go-to guy. Ranked second on the team in receptions, consider King a low-end option at tight end for Week 4 Fantasy play.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King caught four passes for 56 yards at the Falcons in Week 3, leading Carolina in both statistical categories on a relatively quiet afternoon for WR Steve Smith. King also caught a touchdown on a five-yard pass from Jake Delhomme in the third quarter.
Analysis: King is the Panthers No. 1 tight end, but unless he has more games like this one, don't make him your Fantasy team's. He's done little statistically this year before Week 3, so leave him on the waiver wire for Week 4 against the Buccaneers.
News: Panthers TE Jeff King had four catches for 39 yards Sunday against Houston.
Analysis: King has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 3 against Atlanta.
News: Notable Panthers from their Week 1 win at St. Louis include: FB Brad Hoover (16 rush yards), TE Jeff King (five catches, 35 yards) and WR Keary Colbert (nine-yard catch).
Analysis: King is the only useful player of the bunch, and that's as a low-end reserve TE in deeper Fantasy leagues. None of these guys will be helpful vs. Houston in Week 2.
News: The Gaston Gazette reports that new Panthers offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson likes what he sees from second-year man Jeff King and could view him as the downfield threat he desires fromt he TE spot in his offense. "Obviously there are lot more opportunities in the pass game," said King. "But at the same time I'm not going to look at Kellen Winslow and ask for 80 catches a year. I'm going to do what I need to do to get the job done here, have success and win ballgames."
Analysis: King was a Fantasy afterthought last year, but could be a mild surprise in 2007 as the Panthers receiving TE spot is wide open. For now, he's worth a look in the final rounds in the deepest of seasonal and keeper leagues.
News: One notable Panther player who was active and dressed but didn't record an offensive statistic in Week 15 vs. Pittsburgh was TE Jeff King.
Analysis: King shouldn't be on Fantasy Football rosters.
News: Panthers backup QB Brett Basanez, RB Eric Shelton and TE Jeff King did not record any offensive statistics in Week 14 vs. the N.Y. Giants.
Analysis: None of these players should be used in Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: WR Karl Hankton and TE Jeff King played in Week 13 at Philadelphia, but they did not have any offensive statistics.
Analysis: Backup QB Chris Weinke also dressed and did not play. None of the three players are worthy of any Fantasy consideration for Week 14 against the Giants.
News: Panthers backup QB Chris Weinke, TE Michael Gaines, WR Drew Carter, WR Keary Colbert, TE Kris Mangum, TE Jeff King and WR Karl Hankton did not record an offensive stat in Week 11 vs. St. Louis.
Analysis: None of these players should be considered for Week 12 vs. at Washington.
News: WR Drew Carter, WR Keary Colbert, RB Nick Goings, WR Karl Hankton and TE Jeff King played in Week 10 against the Buccaneers and did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: Backup QB Chris Weinke also dressed for the game but he did not play. None of these players are recommended Fantasy options for Week 11 against the Rams.
News: Notable Panthers inactive for Week 8 against the Cowboys include: DB Nate Salley, RB DeAngelo Williams, DL Jordan Carstens, DL Stanley McClover and TE Jeff King.
Analysis: Keep these players reserved for Fantasy purposes in Week 8.
News: WR Keary Colbert, RB Nick Goings, WR Karl Hankton, FB Brad Hoover, TE Jeff King and backup QB Chris Weinke (did not play) did not record any offensive statistics in Week 5 against the Browns.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worth using in Week 6 at Baltimore.
News: The following Panther players didn't record an offensive stat in Week 4 vs. New Orleans: TE Kris Mangum, RB Nick Goings, TE Michael Gaines, TE Jeff King, WR Karl Hankton and QB Chris Weinke
Analysis: None of these players should be considered in Fantasy play at the moment.
News: Notable inactives for the Panthers in Week 3 at Tampa Bay include: safety Shaun Williams, RB Nick Goings, LB Dan Morgan (concussion) and TE Jeff King. WR Steve Smith is expected to play.
Analysis: Morgan should remain reserved in Fantasy leagues that use defensive players. All other inactive Panthers aren't worth owning for Fantasy play.
News: Notable inactives for the Panthers' Week 2 game at Minnesota include: RB Nick Goings, LB Dan Morgan, DE Stanley McClover, C Justin Hartwig, TE Jeff King, WR Steve Smith and DT Tony Brown.
Analysis: Outside of Morgan and Smith, none of these players are useful for Fantasy purposes.
News: Aside from WR Steve Smith, notable Panthers inactives include RB Eric Shelton, LB Na'il Diggs and TE Jeff King.
Analysis: None of these players should be active for Week 1 Fantasy action. Frankly, none of these players should be owned in any leagues at this point, either.
News: According to reports, the Carolina Panthers have signed fifth-round TE Jeff King to an undisclosed contract.
Analysis: King will have no value for Fantasy Footballers.
