Rams' Fisher confirms Jake Long is out for rest of season

(10/28/2014) Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday that offensive lineman Jake Long will miss the remainder of the season after re-injuring his knee Sunday against the Chiefs. Long suffered a torn ACL and MCL late last season.

"Jake has re-torn his ACL. He will be out for the remainder of the season," Fisher said, per the team's official website. "Jake worked really, really hard to get back. And it’s kind of an isolated incident, isolated contact, and it’s just kind of a freak thing. We just appreciate him … his work, and the difficulty associated with coming back from that injury. But he’s done it once, and he’ll do it again."

(10/27/2014) An MRI confirmed Rams left tackle Jake Long suffered a torn ACL Sunday against the Chiefs, sources told ESPN. ProFootballTalk.com reported Sunday the team had feared Long suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter of Sunday's loss.

It's another tough break for Long, who suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 16 last season. Long had started the first seven games this season coming off last season's knee injury.

Deemed probable for Week 1 were tackle Jake Long (knee), defensive end William Hayes (chest) and linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar (shoulder). The only player deemed questionable on the list was defensive end Eugene Sims (knee).

(8/1/2014) Rams left tackle Jake Long on Thursday took reps in team drills, a milestone in his comeback from a severe knee injury last December, reports ESPN.com. Long had only watched team drills during the previous four practices.

"I'm feeling great," said Long, who tore his ACL and MCL on Dec. 22. "Every day I am progressing and feeling better. I finally got some live reps and it felt great. I'm really happy with how the first day of live stuff went."

The team says Long's comeback is right on schedule. Long said he hopes to play at some point in the preseason.
