News: Giants coach Tom Coughlin confirmed the signings of S Deon Grant and S Derrick Martin on Tuesday. Coughlin said he likes Grant's character as well as his ability to make smart plays and added that Martin can contribute on special teams.
Analysis: Martin has 80 career tackles over five NFL seasons. Since the Giants are looking mostly for him to help on special teams, then he should be ignored in Fantasy.
News: The Packers have released LB A.J. Hawk, TE Donald Lee and safety Derrick Martin. The transactions were announced Wednesday by GM Ted Thompson. We want to thank Donald for all of his contributions to the Packers and for being a good teammate throughout his career in Green Bay, Thompson said. He has been a professional and we wish him well in the future. We appreciate Derricks work and contributions over the past two seasons. He has been a good player on our team and we appreciate his passion and energy. With A.J., the business side of the game is driving this decision. Were hopeful that we can continue to work with A.J. to have him be a part of our team in the future.
Analysis: Martin has minimal Fantasy value heading into 2011. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Packers placed DB Derrick Martin on IR Wednesday with a knee injury.
Analysis: Martin was a special teams guy for the Packers and will continue to have no Fantasy value in IDP formats.
News: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers and safety Derrick Martin have agreed to a new two-year deal. This keeps the special-teams ace in Green & Gold through 2011.
Analysis: Martin won't be worthy of Fantasy use until he lands more playing time. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Packers WR Patrick Williams, DB Derrick Martin, RB Korey Hall, DB Trevor Ford, LB Brandon Chillar, DL Ryan Pickett and DL Mike Montgomery have all been ruled inactive for Week 17 at Arizona.
Analysis: Pickett is the only starter among the inactives, but his Fantasy appeal is limited since he is not a stat machine. He is far more important to his real team than Fantasy owners. Most of these players are reserves and have little to no Fantasy appeal. They are likely to keep the same Fantasy value heading into Draft Day 2010.
News: Packers coach Mike McCarthy said S Derrick Martin injured his ankle Week 16 against Seattle.
Analysis: Martin is not a relevant Fantasy option and can continue to be ignored in all formats Week 17.
News: The Packers have listed the following players as inactive for Week 9 at Tampa Bay: WR Jake Allen, DB Derrick Martin, RB Korey Hall, LB Brandon Chillar, WR Jordy Nelson, TE Jermichael Finley and DL Jarius Wynn.
Analysis: Finley and Nelson are the only players in this group with any Fantasy value and had already been declared out earlier this week. Be sure to bench them in all formats and continue to ignore the others.
News: The Green Bay Press Gazette reports that Packers DB Derrick Martin will start at safety in Week 3's game at St. Louis.
Analysis: Martin has never really been anything more than a special teams guy in his NFL career, although he did a few games here and there while with the Ravens. Don't worry about adding him in Fantasy IDP play for Week 3.

Analysis: Martin isn't expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off rosters.
News: The Baltimore Ravens placed reserve CB Derrick Martin on injured reserve Thursday. Martin said he may need shoulder surgery. In August, he tore sutures in his shoulder stemming from an offseason surgery. The former sixth-round draft pick from Wyoming was suspended for the season opener for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Analysis: Martin has no Fantasy value when healthy so ignore him in all leagues at this time.
News: Notable inactives for the Titans-Ravens Week 5 game include: Titans WR Paul Williams, WR Justin Gage, DB Reynaldo Hill, RB Chris Henry, DL William Hayes and DL Kevin Vickerson. For the Ravens, CB Samari Rolle, QB Troy Smith, WR Marcus Smith, DT Kelly Gregg, FS Dawan Landry and DB Derrick Martin are inactive.

News: The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game was rescheduled to Nov. 9 after Reliant Stadium was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike, meaning both teams will not play in Week 2. The new date also affects the Cincinnati Bengals' schedule. Houston was originally scheduled to play the Bengals on Nov. 9. Now, those teams will play on Oct. 26 and Cincinnati will take its bye week on Nov. 9, when the Texans now play the Ravens.
Analysis: It's all a little confusing, but basically Fantasy owners need to treat Week 2 as a bye week for the Texans and Ravens. So if you have any players active from either team, get them reserved immediately. Houston and Baltimore will not have another bye week the rest of the way. The Ravens will next play Cleveland at home in Week 3, giving players like Derrick Martin extra time to heal. He had been listed as doubtful for Week 2.
News: DB Derrick Martin of the Baltimore Ravens has been suspended without pay for the team's first regular-season game and fined one additional game check for violating the NFL Substance Abuse Policy. Martin's suspension for the Ravens' first regular-season game will begin on Saturday, August 30. He is eligible to return to the Ravens' active roster on Monday, September 8 following the team's September 7 opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Analysis: Martin has minimal Fantasy value to begin with prior to the suspension. Do not own him in any leagues at this time.
News: Authorities say a man with the same name and date of birth as Ravens cornerback Derrick Martin was cited for drug abuse after he was found in possession of suspected marijuana at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Cleveland police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho said screeners discovered three bags of suspected marijuana while searching the man at a security checkpoint Saturday night. Stacho said police are testing the substance to determine whether it is marijuana. He said the citation is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a $100 fine. Martin was a sixth-round draft pick in 2006 out of Wyoming.
Analysis: Martin will be subject to a suspension for violating the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy. He's not expected to be productive enough to warrant use in Fantasy play anyway.
News: Ravens DB Derrick Martin totaled four tackles (all solo) and one interception during a Week 16 loss to the Seahawks. He now has 39 tackles and two interceptions.
Analysis: Martin has seen some extra playing time in the last few weeks as the Ravens' secondary has been devastated by injuries. Still, he is not a recommended Fantasy DB.
News: Ravens DB Derrick Martin totaled zero tackles and recorded his first career interception during a Week 6 win over the Rams.
Analysis: The Ravens are excited about Martin's athleticism, but he is just a backup DB at this time. He is not a recommended Fantasy IDP option until he cracks the starting lineup.
News: Notable inactives for Week 12 include: Steelers' QB Brian St. Pierre (No. 3 QB), WR Willie Reid, WR Walter Young, RB Duce Staley and DE Rodney Bailey. Daniels, RB Cory Ross, WR Devard Darling, TE Daniel Wilcox and DE Dwan Edwards. LB Ray Lewis is active.
Analysis: Keep all inactives benched or off Fantasy rosters in Week 12.

News: The Ravens inactives for Week 3 vs. Baltimore were DB David Pittman, DB Derrick Martin, RB P.J. Daniels, RB Cory Ross, LB Dan Cody, WR Devard Darling, WR Clarence Moore and DL Dwan Edwards.

News: Here are the inactives for the Ravens vs. Oakland: DB Derrick Martin, DB David Pittman, RB P.J. Daniels, RB Cory Ross, LB Dan Cody, WR Devard Darling and DT Aubrayo Franklin.

Analysis: Martin's versatility to play inside and outside could keep him with the club. However, he may only appear on special teams and isn't a reliable Fantasy option in any league.
