Broncos sign Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis

(8/25/2015) The Broncos signed two-time Pro Bowler Evan Mathis to a one-year deal on Tuesday, the team announced.

The deal that brought Mathis to Denver is worth $4 million.


Dolphins won't rule out signing G Evan Mathis

(8/4/2015) Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum told a local radio station that the team would not rule out the possibility of signing free-agent guard Evan Mathis, per ProFootballTalk.com. 

Mathis, who was released by the Eagles this offseason, is a Pro Bowl player that could boost the Dolphins' offensive line, but the price tag will be high. 

"We'll have to continue to get better, we'll see where our guard situation goes," Tannenbaum said. 


Jets begin talks with OL Evan Mathis

(8/1/2015) Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said the team has started to talk to the agent of free-agent offensive lineman Evan Mathis, reports the NFL Network.

Mathis was released by the Eagles in June after being owed $5.5 million in base salary during the 2015 season. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.

(7/16/2015) With the start of training camp right around the corner, former Eagles Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis has still yet to sign with a team. Well, there seems to be no panic from Mathis, who said during an interview with CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday negotiations with interested teams are “going to ramp up.”

“Exactly what my options are aren’t as clear as they will be in a week or two,” Mathis said, per The Miami Herald.

The Dolphins appear to be one of several teams interested in signing the 10-year veteran. Mathis played seven games for the Dolphins in 2008.

“I haven’t missed anything,” said Mathis, who was released by the Eagles in June. “There’s no rush at all.”


Agents says Evan Mathis in no rush to make decision

(6/14/2015) The agent for free-agent guard Evan Mathis said Mathis is in no hurry to make a decision on which team he will sign with, reports NJ.com.

"Now it's wide open and there's a lot of interest in Evan," Drew Rosenhaus said recently on WQAM 560 AM in Miami. "Between now and the start of training camp, I definitely expect him to have a new home. I think we'll be methodical. We won't necessarily rush into signing immediately."

Rosenhaus added that Mathis has been contacted by at least six teams after his recent release by the Eagles.

"Clearly Evan is one of, if not the top overall free agent right now that would be available in the NFL," he said.

Mathis had not been attending the team's offseason activities while demanding an increase in salary. He was due $5.5 million in base salary during the 2015 season.

Mathis has started 56 games for the Eagles over the last four seasons. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection. 


Report: Eagles take away offer from Evan Mathis

(6/9/2015) The Eagles have rescinded an original contract offer to offensive guard Evan Mathis, accoridng to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer

The deal, originally proposed in September in 2014, would have given Mathis an average $1 million per season. It was an incentive-laden deal and one Mathis refused. 

Mathis did not show up to any of the Eagles' OTA practices. It's unknown if he will show up to mandatory minicamp. Mathis could be subjected to an estimated $70,000 fine if he decides to skip it.

(5/26/2015) For the second consecutive season, Eagles guard Evan Mathis was a no-show to OTAs, according to ESPN.com. 

Mathis has received permission to seek a trade though nothing has materialized. After failing to report to OTAs a year ago, Mathis showed up to the Eagles facility on time. 

Mathis is entering his 11th NFL season and fifth with the Eagles. 


Chip Kelly: No trade offers for Eagles' Evan Mathis

(5/2/2015) Eagles coach Chip Kelly said that the team hasn't received any offers for disgruntled offensive lineman Evan Mathis in the last two years. 

Kelly confirmed that the team gave Mathis' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, permission to seek a trade, per Philly.com

"That's through his agent and him," Kelly said on Saturday. "They've asked if he could renegotiate a contract and see what he could get, and we've obliged him with that, but we've never had an offer." 

Kelly said he didn't know if Mathis would be back with the Eagles next season. "That's a question for Evan," he said.

Mathis has come up in trade rumors and he missed the first day of the team's voluntary workout program last week.

(4/20/2015) Eagles guard Evan Mathis, the subject of trade rumors, did not show up Monday for the first day of the team's voluntary workout program, per the Philadelphia Inquirer

Mathis' absence is not much of a surprise, as the guard was speculated to do the same last season before arriving for workouts. Mathis is set to make $5.5 million this season and $6 million next year. 

He gave reporter Jeff McLane a unique reason for missing workouts: "I'm in Antarctica looking for frozen dinosaurs to extract their DNA and splice them with my chihuahuasaur," he said.

It was previously reported that Mathis was on the trading block when the new league year opened. The report states the Eagles are "actively looking" for a new location for Mathis. 

The Eagles have been busy reshaping the roster this offseason, which included high-profile moves in trading Nick Foles for Sam Bradford and LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso.

The Eagles have made a number of moves this offseason, which included trading LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso and Nick Foles for Sam Bradford. Mathis is the next one up to be discussed in such a move. 

According to CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, the Dolphins, Rams, Bills and Vikings are all interested in trading for Mathis. The Saints are potential suitors as well.
