Ravens will be cautious with Jameel McClain

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2013) Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain is sidelined indefinitely on the physically unable to perform list due to the spinal cord contusion he suffered last December against the Redskins, reports the Baltimore Sun.

Coach John Harbaugh said the team won't take any risks with McClain, and he won't be practicing until he's fully recovered.

"Jameel is a tougher one to predict because he's go the back issue, it's a spinal issue," Harbaugh said Tuesday. "It just has to heal. Until that heals, and we have proof that it's healed, he's not going to be out there. Doctors had anticipated he would be out there at this time. It's a little slower than we had hoped. When he's ready, he'll be out there. He's going to continue to take some more tests, and we'll have more for you on that on Thursday."

They can’t practice until they’re removed from the PUP list. If they’re still on the list when the season opens, they’d have to miss at least the first six games.

Smith specifically has done a great job adapting to the defense, calling the signals like Ray Lewis used to even though he's new to the team.
