Giants' McClain back at practice after recovering from neck stinger

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/17/2015) Giants linebacker Jameel McClain returned to practice Sunday for the first time since suffering a neck stinger Aug. 5. McClain said he was not worried about his latest setback despite missing time in 2012 and 2013 due to a bruised spinal cord, per the New York Daily News.

“I was just like ‘I’ll be all right, don’t worry about me,’” McClain said. “I’m used to going through so much, something small to me is probably something big to someone else. … (This injury wasn’t) any comparison to what I went through before. What I went through before, I saw about 13, 14 doctors.”

Giants LB Jameel McClain out with stinger; coach concerned

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/6/2015) A stinger that caused Giants LB Jameel McClain to leave practice Wednesday has Tom Coughlin pessimistic about his future, per NJ.com.

McClain was laying on the field with his legs motionless for at least a minute. Coughlin is not sure when he can return, but he knows it won't be soon.

"Chances are because of the extent of the trauma, he's going to have to sit for a while," Coughlin said. "I wouldn't be able to guess (a timetable for his return)."

Coughlin added that his caution was partly influenced by McClain's injury history, which includes a neck injury that threatened his livelihood.

McClain has been a full-time starter throughout since entering the league in 2008, including his first season with the Giants in 2014, when he contributed to a career-high 116 tackles.
