(2/10/2014) Free agent safety Brandon Meriweather wasn't the same player for the Redskins after he was suspended for illegal hits, reports the Washington Post. Meriweather "seemed to lose some of his aggression" following the one-game suspension and "seemed to struggle to find a balance between playing with aggression while also avoiding putting himself and other players at risk," the report said.

The paper suggests Washington can find better options at safety than Meriweather, who had 69 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, a forced fumble and three pass deflections last season.


Three Redskins' contracts voided

(2/7/2014) Three members of the 2013 Redskins -- Josh Morgan, Brandon Meriweather and London Fletcher -- all had their contracts voided Friday, according to USA Today. The move will save the Redskins some cap space. 

Morgan had fallen out of favor in Washington and suffered with some of his worst numbers -- just 214 yards and no touchdowns despite playing 14 games. 

Meriweather had a tumultuous tenure with the Redskins, tallying 76 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and three interceptions over 14 games (two seasons; he hurt his knees in 2012). 

Fletcher, on the other hand, is a candidate for the Hall of Fame after closing out a 16-year career without missing a single game. He is retiring.

All but Robinson were able to fully participate in practice every day this week. Robinson was limited Wednesday, but practiced in full Thursday and Friday.

(12/2/2013) The Redskins held the Giants to 286 total yards Week 13. But the Redskins' 24-17 home loss marked the 11th time in 12 games Washington surrendered at least 24 points.

Washington got three sacks, two by linebacker Brian Orakpo, and safety Brandon Meriweather's second interception this season. Still, the Redskins DST did not disrupt Eli Manning too much as he completed a season-high 78.6 percent of his throws.

Meriweather intercepted a Christian Ponder pass early in the game. He finished with five tackles on the game for the Redskins in the defeat.

Meriweather recorded his first pick of the season Thursday and now has 14 for his career. He has 35 tackles on the year. Washington plays at Philadelphia next week.

Sources said there is strong sentiment based on this severity of Sunday's incident and Meriweather's past history that he will be suspended. Meriweather has been fined this season for helmet-to-helmet contact.
