News: The Eagles trimmed their roster further on Saturday, and some notable players were let go. Among them were WRs Sinorice Moss and Chad Hall, DEs Daniel Te'o-Nesheim and Phillip Hunt, TE Donald Lee and DT Anthony Hargrove.
Analysis: Though all of the aforementioned players have solid regular-season experience, they were fighting for reserve spots on the roster. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on where they land, but neither of them should be owned in the majority of leagues until they prove their worth.
News: The Eagles signed former Giants WR Sinorice Moss Tuesday. He had an injury-shortened 2010 (sports hernia), but now says he's 100 percent after a season of rehab. The University of Miami product is excited to be in Philadelphia. "The Eagles were a good fit for me because they throw the football," Moss told the team's official website. "I'm a wide receiver, and of course, a team that throws the ball and has an opportunity for you to be a part of this system, and the chance to catch some passes from Mike Vick, who would turn that down?"
Analysis: Moss was highly-touted by the Eagles in 2006, when they nearly selected him in the draft. "Definitely there was some interest from the Eagles," Moss acknowledged. "And it was so surreal to have the opportunity to come in and meet with those guys again. It just amazes me that now I'm a Philadelphia Eagle." Though he has suffered several injuries, a speedy WR in the Eagles offense is always a threat. Still, with several talented WRs expected to be ahead of him, Moss figures to chip in on offense. His role will likely pit him as the team's top returner. Until he proves healthy and productive in Philadelphia, Moss should be ignored in Fantasy play on Draft Day.
News: The Giants waived/injured WR Sinorice Moss on Tuesday. Moss has been on injured reserve since late August with a groin injury.
Analysis: Moss finishes his Giants career for now with 39 catches for 421 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons. He might well find his way on to a roster either late this season or in 2011, but for now can continue to be ignored in Fantasy play.
News: The Giants placed WR Sinorice Moss on IR Tuesday after he underwent sports hernia surgery. He is now out for the season.
Analysis: Moss was playing well earlier this preseason, but his groin wasn't quick to respond to treatment, and the emergence of Victor Cruz made this decision easier for the Giants. Continue to ignore Moss in all Fantasy formats.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss will seek a second opinion on his injured groin/pelvic area on Monday, reports the Daily News. Reports are the injury doesn't look good.
Analysis: Moss better get over this injury and quick because he's no lock to make the 53-man roster. Even if he does, he doesn't figure to post enough stats to be on Fantasy rosters.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss is enjoying a fine training camp, and determined to make the team despite a glut of talented players at receiver. A second-round draft pick in 2006, Moss has failed to meet his expectations, but turns criticism into motivation. "It seems like every year since I've been here they've pretty much written me off as being the odd man out," he told NFL.com. "I mean, it's true. It's things that I've seen, the things that I've read since I've been here, I've kind of been the odd man out. That's definitely fuel for me, because I know what I can bring to this team with the opportunity given to myself. I know the work that I put in each and every year." Moss has been working as the team's punt and kick returner after Domenik Hixon was lost for the season, and hopes to continue doing so during the regular season. "That's something I would love to do," Moss said. "I had the opportunity to do it two games last year, and I felt extremely comfortable back there. You know, after the second game I had to do it. So I went to coach and I just let him know, 'If you need me, wherever you need me, I'm willing to do it and to contribute to the team.'"
Analysis: Moss' play during OTAs and thus far in training camp has caught the attention of Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. "He worked real well in the spring," Coughlin said. "He's taken advantage of his opportunities here. He's volunteered for pretty much everything, kickoff return, punt return. Consistency. The ability to make the big play, he's in a big play position. That's got to happen for us. He's worked hard. He's worked very hard and he's got a great attitude, as always. We're all rooting for him." Moss certainly has his work cut out for him, with Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, Hakeem Nicks, Derek Hagan and Ramses Barden all providing stiff competition at receiver. But even if he does make the 53-man roster, Moss likely wouldn't be more than the No. 4 WR. He could be a worthy waiver-wire addition during the season, but he can be ignored on Draft Day.
News: With the news that Giants WR Domenik Hixon will miss the 2010 season with a torn ACL, veteran WR Sinorice Moss looks like a much safer lock to remain on the roster than before. Moss can contribute on special teams and on offense.
Analysis: If he were to make the team he'd be buried on the depth chart by at least Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham. There wouldn't be much room for him to tally a bunch of stats. Keep him off rosters for now.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Giants WR Sinorice Moss signed his one-year tender as a restricted free agent. The Giants' fifth-year WR wasn't going anywhere and had until Thursday to sign the contract that will pay him $1.176 million this season -- only if he makes the final roster.
Analysis: Moss isn't going to make an impact for Fantasy owners this season if he remains with the Giants, who are loaded at receiver with Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Ramses Barden. Ignore Moss in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 16 against the Panthers: WR Ramses Barden, RB Danny Ware, DB Aaron Ross, WR Sinorice Moss and TE Scott Chandler.
Analysis: None of the players listed here have any real Fantasy appeal. Leave them inactive in all leagues.
News: The Giants have listed the following players as inactive for Monday night at Washington in Week 15: WR Ramses Barden, CB Cory Webster, RB Danny Ware, CB Aaron Ross, WR Sinorice Moss and TE Darcy Johnson.
Analysis: None of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 13 vs. Dallas: DB Michael Johnson, RB Danny Ware, DB D.J. Johnson, TE Travis Beckum, WR Sinorice Moss, WR Ramses Barden.
Analysis: None of the players listed here have any real Fantasy appeal. Leave them reserved in all leagues until further notice.
News: The Giants have listed their inactives for Week 12 at Denver, including WR Ramses Barden, CB D.J. Johnson, CB Kevin Dockey and WR Sinorice Moss.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using when active. Ignore them in all leagues.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 11 against Atlanta: WR Ramses Barden, DB D.J. Johnson, RB Gartrell Johnson, DB Kevin Dockery, LB Antonio Pierce and WR Sinorice Moss.
Analysis: Aside from Pierce, none of the players listed are expected to have any Fantasy appeal. Leave them on waivers in all leagues until further notice.
News: Giants WR Ramses Barden, DB Aaron Ross, RB Gartrell Johnson, LB Bryan Kehl, DL Dave Tollefson and WR Sinorice Moss have all been ruled inactive for Week 9 vs. San Diego.
Analysis: Ross has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury and there is no telling when he might return. He is about the only inactive Fantasy player with some value when active. Most of the other players are reserves and barely factor. Keep them reserved for Week 9.
News: The following Giants did not record an offensive statistic in Week 8 at Philadelphia: RB Madison Hedgecock, QB David Carr, RB Danny Ware, TE Travis Beckum, WR Sinorice Moss and TE Darcy Johnson.
Analysis: None of the players listed are expected to carry any real Fantasy appeal this season. Leave them reserved in all leagues until further notice.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 7 against Arizona: WR Ramses Barden, DB Aaron Ross, RB Gartrell Johnson, LB Michael Boley, WR Sinorice Moss and DL Chris Canty.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are expected to have significant Fantasy value this season. Leave them out of active lineups in all leagues until further notice.
News:Madison Hedgecock, Gartrell Johnson, Derek Hagan and Sinorice Moss did not record an offensive statistic in Week 6 at New Orleans.
Analysis: None of the listed players are expected to have significant Fantasy appeal this season. Leave them on waivers in all leagues until further notice.
News:Sinorice Moss and Domenik Hixon were the only two Giants not to record an offensive statistic in Week 5 against the Raiders. Moss did fumble a punt in the game.
Analysis: Both Hixon and Moss have fallen behind the Giants' young emerging group of receivers that include Steve Smith, Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks. Neither player is a recommended Fantasy option at the moment.
News: Giants RB Gartrell Johnson, WR Derek Hagan, WR Sinorice Moss and TE Darcy Johnson did not record an offensive statistic in Week 4 at Kansas City.
Analysis: Aside from possibly Moss, who is not considered a starter, none of the players on this list figure to have much Fantasy appeal in the near future. Until their role changes, they should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues. Moss had a touchdown in Week 3 against Tampa Bay, but is far too erratic to rely upon in Fantasy.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss caught just one pass in a Week 3 rout of the Buccaneers, but he made it count as he snagged his first touchdown since Week 5 of last season.
Analysis: Moss is a backup WR for the Giants and only saw one target on Sunday. Continue to ignore him in all formats when New York visit Kansas City in Week 4.
News: Notable Giants players who were active and dressed but didn't record a stat at Dallas in Week 2 include: backup QB David Carr, TE Darcy Johnson, WR Ramses Barden, RB Gartrell Johnson, TE Travis Beckum and WR Sinorice Moss.
Analysis: None of these players warrant Fantasy use at this time because they aren't expected to see the field much. Keep them all off of Fantasy rosters. The Giants play at the Bucs in Week 3.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports Giants rookie WR Hakeem Nicks will apparently be an integral part of the Giants' offense for Week 1 against Washington. "He's playing it right now," coach Tom Coughlin said Friday when asked at what point Nicks will play a "major role" in the offense. "He's involved right now in everything we're doing. We basically have four guys that will do a lot of rotating and a lot of playing." The other three are obviously Domenik Hixon, Steve Smith and Mario Manningham. Derek Hagan figures to be active and playing a role in special teams, which means Sinorice Moss and Ramses Barden could be among the inactives.
Analysis: Nicks could be a sleeper for Week 1 against the Redskins in deep leagues, but don't plan on using him in standard formats. In time, he could become a solid Fantasy option, but we want to see it happen first. Keep Manningham, Hagan, Moss and Barden reserved in all formats this week.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss might have saved his job with a two-touchdown performance during Thursday's preseason finale against the Patriots. Moss caught a 23-yard touchdown from Eli Manning to opening the scoring and added a 12-yard reception from David Carr minutes late. Both of Moss' touchdowns came against rookie safety Pat Chung, New England's top draft pick.
Analysis: Moss expressed concern recently that he might be on the chopping block after a poor preseason showing. He has failed to live up to expectations of being a second-round pick and potential slot receiver for the Giants. However, he did flash some playmaking abilities Thursday and that could have saved his job. Even if Moss makes the team, it's probably best to steer clear of him in Fantasy until he starts making plays in games that count.
News: The New York Daily News reports that Sinorice Moss is worried that he may not make the cut with the Giants this season. "I don't know what it is. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, keep working hard. This week is a new week, a new opportunity for myself to go out and make some plays," said Moss.
Analysis: The report adds that Moss has remained positive throughout a three-year career that has been marked by injuries, inconsistent performances and a lack of opportunities. But this week, his demeanor turned sour after his unexpected experience against the Jets. Other than on special teams, he didn't get on the field until late in the second half, although the first-team offense played most of the first three quarters. Even rookies Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden got time in the offense with quarterback Eli Manning ahead of Moss. The Giants are looking for answers at WR, but it appears Moss may not be high on the team's list of priorities. Thus, he shouldn't be on Fantasy owners' list of priorities.
News:Newsday reports Giants WR Sinorice Moss was held out until the second half of Saturday night's preseason game against the Jets to give the other receivers more of a look. He did not have a catch in the game. "I don't have any [explanation]," Moss said of his limited use. "You don't think I'd be frustrated? I am. But there's nothing I can do. I'm not the coach." Coach Tom Coughlin said Moss did not play so the Giants could get rookies Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden reps with the first unit. But Moss said he came into the game expecting to see his usual number of reps. "I really don't know what to say about what happened," he said. "But when I did step on the field, I went out there and did my best."
Analysis: This doesn't sound good for Moss, who was expecting to be the No. 3 WR behind Steve Smith and Domenik Hixon. Ignore Moss in all leagues on Draft Day, but if he starts out playing well during the season, then add him off the waiver wire.
News: Just when Sinorice Moss was giving indications that he can be the WR to replace Plaxico Burress as the Giants' deep threat, he felt a little twinge in his hamstring. As he lay on the ground, Moss spiked the ball in disgust. That was late in Tuesday afternoon's second workout at the mandatory minicamp. All Moss could do on Wednesday was stand on the sidelines and watch his teammates work. He will not participate in the final two days of the minicamp. It was far from surprising for the WR who is entering his fourth season. He has done little in his first three years, and now a setback just as his star appeared to be on the rise. Moss insists the injury is not serious and that he will be ready for training camp in August.
Analysis: In his first three seasons, the former second-round draft pick had 38 catches for 403 yards and two touchdowns in 29 games. He was limited to six games in an injury-plagued rookie year and never seemed to get in the receiving rotation, making him wonder whether he would ever make it with the Giants. Even with the release of Burress in April and the decision not to re-sign veteran Amani Toomer, Moss said he never looked at the 2009 season as a make-or-break one for him. When the Giants looked ahead to this season, most people expected that Steve Smith and Domenik Hixon would be the logical contenders for the spots held by Burress and Toomer, followed by rookie draft picks Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden. But we expect Moss to be in the mix. He's worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues as long as he's 100 percent this season.
News: The New York Daily News reports Giants WR Sinorice Moss is trying his best to stay positive in the wake of yet another hamstring injury. "It frustrates me, but maybe I just need to rest my legs," he said Wednesday. "I'm trying to stay positive about the situation." Moss is out of the rest of minicamp with a pulled hamstring. It looked bad when he got up and slammed his helmet to the ground Tuesday afternoon before heading straight to the trainer. But he said the injury really isn't that bad at all. "It's not that serious at all," he said. "I'm just frustrated that I felt something. It's been a while since I felt any injury in my leg." Coach Tom Coughlin added: "It's unfortunate. He was getting a lot of snaps and he was doing something with them."
Analysis: Moss has the chance to help the Giants this year. He was expected to be in the three-man rotation with Domenik Hixon and Steve Smith. That could happen still as long as the hamstring injury doesn't linger into training camp. Continue to monitor what happens, and Moss could be worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues this season.
News: The Daily News reports Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said WR Sinorice Moss has the chance to help the team replace departed WR Plaxico Burress. "This will be his big chance," Gilbride said. "He'll start off in the three wides. He will be the starter. We just hope - and I know he'll hope for sure - that he flourishes and does well."
Analysis: Moss has been a disappointment thus far in his career, although Gilbride has high hopes. "I think last year he had his best year," Gilbride said. "As I said to him a couple of times at the end, 'We're sitting you down, but it's not because you're not contributing.' I think he was playing pretty good football. I think every throw we made to him he (caught). There is a place for his speed and his quicks." Moss needs to do a lot to impress Fantasy owners, and he's not worth drafting at this time in any leagues. Even though Burress is gone, Moss is still behind Steve Smith and will likely play behind Domenik Hixon and rookie Hakeem Nicks. If Moss starts off the year playing well, then add him off the waiver wire.
News: After reportedly considering trades for Braylon Edwards and Anquan Boldin, the Giants decided to stay in their spot and take UNC WR Hakeem Nicks with the 29th overall pick in the 2009 draft. Nicks left the Tar Heels as the school's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns with 181 grabs for 2,840 yards and 21 touchdowns (12 last year). Nicks will have to compete with veterans Steve Smith, Domenik Hixon, Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham for playing time next season, but he does provide the deep threat that they cannot provide on a consistent basis. "We like him a lot," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said. "He's a big, strong kid, very productive. ... We expect him to come in and get in the mix."
Analysis: We don't think Nicks will come in and eat up all the receptions like Edwards or Boldin would have done, which is a plus for Smith and Hixon especially. We still view Smith as a good-hands man who can help move the chains and Hixon as a deep-threat type of receiver, along with Moss and Manningham as quality role players. But there's no doubt that Nicks will try to make his mark as a rookie as a big, physical target in the Giants' offense. Smith remains a top-end reserve (middle- to late-round pick) Fantasy WR while Hixon falls back to a low-end reserve option (late-round pick, if at all). Neither Moss nor Manningham should be taken in seasonal drafts.
News: The Giants DST had four sacks, a forced fumble and a safety Sunday at Dallas. Mathias Kiwanuka had 1.5 sacks, Jay Alford and Renaldo Wynn had a sack each and Justin Tuck had a half-sack. Kiwanuka also forced the fumble. But the Giants allowed 20 points and did little on special teams. Ahmad Bradshaw had four kickoff returns for 48 yards, and R.W. McQuarters had one punt return for 6 yards and one kickoff return for 18 yards. Sinorice Moss also had two kickoff returns for 39 yards.
Analysis: The Giants DST remains a great source of sacks and should play well at home in Week 16 against Carolina. Continue to start the Giants DST as a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss caught a 13-yard pass Week 14 against the Eagles. He now has 10 catches all season.
Analysis: Even with Plaxico Burress done for the season, Moss plays too small of a role on offense to factor in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 15 at Dallas.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss made one catch for seven yards in Week 13's win over the Redskins.
Analysis: Moss has been on and off the inactive list this season and is too far down the depth chart to be considered a viable Fantasy option. Leave him on the waiver wire in Week 14 against the Eagles.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss made two catches in Week 12 at Arizona. His longest gain went for 12 yards.
Analysis: Moss has been on and off the inactive list this season and is too far down the depth chart to be considered a viable Fantasy option. Leave him on the waiver wire.
News: The following Giants players were active and dressed but did not record any offensive stats in Week 11 against Baltimore: QB David Carr, FB Madison Hedgecock and WR Sinorice Moss.
Analysis: None of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy options. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time.
News: The following Giants players were active and dressed but did not record any offensive stats in Week 11 against Philly: QB David Carr, FB Madison Hedgecock, WR Domenik Hixon, TE Darcy Johnson and WR Sinorice Moss.
Analysis: None of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss caught one pass for two yards in Week 9 against Dallas. It was his first catch in three games.
Analysis: Moss has just six catches all season and is too far down the team's depth chart to be considered a viable Fantasy receiver. Until that changes, leave him on the waiver wire.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 8 at Pittsburgh: K Lawrence Tynes, WR Sinorice Moss, RB Danny Ware, DB R.W. McQuarters, DB Sam Madison, LB Gerris Wilkinson, DL Jerome McDougle and kicker Lawrence Tynes.
Analysis: Aside from possibly Tynes down the stretch if he returns, none of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 7 vs. the 49ers: K Lawrence Tynes, DB R.W. McQuarters, RB Danny Ware, LB Antonio Pierce, LB Gerris Wilkinson, WR Sinorice Moss and DL Jerome McDougle.
Analysis: Aside from Tynes and Pierce, none of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: The Giants' list of inactives for Week 6 at Cleveland includes WR Sinorice Moss, DB Sammy Knight, RB Danny Ware, DB Sam Madison, LB Jonathan Goff and DL Dave Tollefson.
Analysis: Moss is the biggest name here, but he, doesn't really do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. None of these other players does either. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss caught four passes for 45 yards in Week 5 vs. Seattle, including two touchdowns. He came into the game with just one catch this season.
Analysis: Moss was thrown to six times and a couple of things had to happen for that to be the case. For one thing, Plaxico Burress was out of the game due to a team-imposed one-game suspension. That allowed Moss to climb up the depth chart for a day. Also, Domenick Hixon, who was successfully filling for Burress, left the game in the first half with a concussion. It goes to show that Burress has some value if he were to be featured in the pass offense, but he isn't likely to be a regular once Burress comes back in Week 6 at Cleveland. Despite the two touchdowns, we don't recommend adding him off the waiver wire.
News: The New York Giants are approaching the suspension of Plaxico Burress almost the same way they would an injury. The team suspended the wide receiver for a game for missing a practice and not calling to explain his absence. Barring a successful appeal, Burress will miss the game against the Seattle Seahawks at Giants Stadium on Oct. 5. For the Giants that means Domenik Hixon, Steve Smith, Sinorice Moss and rookie Mario Manningham will get more playing time, with Hixon expected to move into Burress' split end spot. "He does a lot for the team, catching balls, blocking, so it's going to be tough," Hixon said of Burress' role. "Things happen, you got to continue on."
Analysis: The starting assignment for Hixon also is going to create more playing time for Smith and Moss, and it should get Manningham on the field for the first time this season. Smith has been productive when the Giants have gone to four-receiver packages on third down. The second-year pro has 11 receptions for 94 yards. Moss has had only one catch for 23 yards, while Manningham has yet to play after being slowed by a leg injury in training camp. "We are all pros. We have to approach the game like we do every week," Smith said. "We know he (Burress) is a big target and that is tough on whoever is in that position in the game, but coach is going to put us in the right position. We just have to make the plays." Smith is the only guy that might be worth starting in Week 5 after the Giants come off their bye, but you could probably still go with other options in Fantasy.
News: The following Giants did not record an offensive statistic in Week 3 vs. Cincinnati: QB David Carr, WR Sinorice Moss, RB Rueben Droughns, TE Darcy Johnson and TE Michael Matthews.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: The following Giants players did not record any offensive statistics in Week 2 at St. Louis: WR Sinorice Moss, RB Ruben Droughns, TE Darcy Johnson and TE Michael Matthews.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon, although Moss has the best chance of gaining more playing time. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss mustered up just one catch for 23 yards Week 1 against the Redskins as he watched older brother Santana catch five passes for Washington, including a 12-yard touchdown.
Analysis: Moss saw his most extensive action in 2007 as a second-year receiver. He caught 21 passes for 225 yards and had no touchdowns. His career hasn't started off very well, and as nothing more than a No. 3 wide receiver for the Giants, he doesn't have any Fantasy value heading into Week 2 against the Rams.
News: The Giants waived WR Brandon London on Saturday, apparently clearing the way for Sinorice Moss to make the team.
Analysis: Moss is still behind all the above listed receivers on the depth chart. Moss hasn't lived up to his brother Santana's production and Hixon remains the Giants' fifth option at wideout. Anything can happen, but he's probably not going to see much of the field as an offensive Fantasy point getter in 2008.
News: With Giants wide receivers David Tyree, Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, Steve Smith and rookie Mario Manningham all expected to miss Monday night's preseason game against the Browns, Sinorice Moss and Domenik Hixon will get the start for New York.
Analysis: While Eli Manning has said he hopes to get some nice work in with the Giants youngsters at wideout, Moss and Hixon are still behind all the above listed receivers on the depth chart. Moss hasn't lived up to his brother Santana's production and Hixon remains the Giants' fifth option at wideout. Anything can happen, but he's probably not going to see much of the field as an offensive Fantasy point getter in 2008.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss caught a nice 46-yard touch pass from QB Anthony Wright in Thursday's preseason game at Detroit. Moss played with the second-string even with regulars Plaxico Burress and Steve Smith out.
Analysis: Moss has been a huge disappointment over his career, so it's tough to think that this is the start of something good from him. For now, keep him off of Fantasy rank lists.
News: Veteran receiver Amani Toomer missed the New York Giants' training camp practice on Tuesday with swelling in his left leg. With fellow wide receiver Steve Smith also missing the workout due to general soreness, New York's receiving corps was without its top three players. Plaxico Burress is still sidelined with a problem in his right ankle. Coach Tom Coughlin did not seemed concerned after the two-hour workout, the team's seventh practice in four days at the University at Albany. Domenik Hixon and Sinorice Moss played with the first team on Tuesday.
Analysis: While it doesn't seem likely that any of the Giants' big three wideouts will be out to start the regular season, this is good news for Moss. Obviously, Moss has upside and a future in the NFL and would be the Giants' fourth option to start the year. If any of the aforementioned players in front of him hurt themselves during the year -- and they obviously seem capable of that -- Moss would step in and become a lot more Fantasy viable. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach with Moss and not draft him this summer. As far as Hixon goes, he's the fifth option. Anything can happen, but he's probably not going to see much of the field as an offensive Fantasy point getter.
News: It's time for Sinorice Moss to start producing for the Giants, and he knows it. In two seasons, the receiver from Miami has caught 26 passes for 230 yards and no touchdowns. With Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, 2007-second-rounder Steve Smith, Super Bowl hero David Tyree and Moss all back along with Manningham, earning a roster spot will be tough this season. "I am just looking forward to coming out here and getting the opportunity to make some plays and come out here and shock the world," Moss said after taking part in a voluntary offseason workout on Tuesday. "That's my thing."
Analysis: Moss is the first to acknowledge he has not lived up to expectations. A leg injury in his rookie season caused him to miss almost all of training camp and limited him to six regular-season games. While he played in 13 games last season, he suffered a hip injury in the penultimate game and did not play again, making him a spectator for the Super Bowl run. Moss thinks his time is now. He has continued to work despite his injuries and he feels he knows comfortable with the offense. He also feels the coaching staff knows he is capable of making plays. He just needs the chance. Moss expects to do more than catch passes. He hopes to earn spots returning punts and kickoffs, something he did well in college. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach with Moss and not draft him this summer.
News: Giants WR/KR Sinorice Moss collected 225 yards on 21 catches through the regular season (10.7 avg.) but failed to score. He also had a 4-yard rush and a fumble lost. He has yet to score a touchdown in the NFL.
Analysis: Moss doesn't post enough stats on a regular basis to warrant Fantasy use. Owners are advised not to spend a draft pick on the former Miami Hurricane this summer.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss (back) is listed as probable for a Wild Card game at Tampa Bay. He went through full practice reps all week. Moss missed Week 16 against the Bills and Week 17 against the Patriots.
Analysis: Moss has been a poster child for the walking wounded and inconsistency since arriving in the NFL in 2006. He might line up as the Giants' No. 3 WR against the Bucs, but has little to no Fantasy value in playoff formats. He will likely have little to no Fantasy value on Draft Day 2008 as well.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss (back) went through a full practice Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for a Wild Card game at Tampa Bay.
News: Giants WR Sinorice Moss (back) was inactivated for Week 16 at Buffalo.
Analysis: Clearly, he should be reserved in all Fantasy leagues. He had been serving a more active role in the offense of late, but is not a player who should be used at this late juncture.
News: The Giants listed the following players as inactive for Week 16 at Buffalo: QB Jared Lorenzen (3rd QB), DL Manuel Wright (ankle), WR David Tyree (coach's decision), RB Danny Ware (coach's decision), WR Sinorice Moss (back), TE Jerome Collins (coach's decision).
