News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu was not much of a factor in Week 15 against the 49ers. He finished with 20 yards on two catches in the catch in the 19-17 defeat. He was targeted twice on the afternoon.
Analysis: Obomanu has not done much for owners since Week 8 and it doesn't look as though his role is going to improve with just one game left in the season. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy WR down heading into Week 17.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught a 43-yard pass Week 15 at Chicago. It was his only catch, but he was targeted three times in the contest. He now has a total of nine catches in his last six games.
Analysis: Obomanu is behind both Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate on the depth chart, so he'll offer minimal production on a week-to-week basis. He belong on waivers in virtually all Fantasy formats.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu was not much of a factor in Week 14 against the Rams. He finished with 13 yards on one catch in the 30-13 win. It was his lone target in the contest.
Analysis: Obomanu has not done much for owners since Week 8 and it doesn't look as though his role is going to improve with just a few games left in the season. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy WR down the stretch.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu got the start in Week 13 in place of the injured Sidney Rice, but didn't have much to show for it. Obomanu caught both passes thrown his way for 28 yards in Seattle's 31-14 win over Philadelphia Thursday night.
Analysis: Obomanu was overshadowed by Golden Tate in Week 13. The Seahawks don't have a top-notch passing attack, so Fantasy owners shouldn't expect too much from any of the receivers in Seattle. In Week 14 the Seahawks face the Rams on Monday night. St. Louis has given up 16 passing touchdowns and has allowed 205 passing yards per contest. At this stage of the season, Fantasy owners should not count on Obomanu for solid production on a weekly basis.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that WR Ben Obomanu will start Week 13 vs. Philadelphia in place of Sidney Rice, who is going on IR because of a concussion. Obomanu replaced Rice when he left in Week 12 and finished with three three receptions for 26 yards during a 23-17 loss.
Analysis: Obomanu doesn't draw the easiest assignment in Week 13 as he faces a tough Eagles secondary. However, the unit has struggled recently and allowed two New England receivers to gain 100 yards in a loss to the Patriots last Sunday. Overall, Philadelphia is yielding an average of 22.1 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts, but Obomanu has not topped 30 yards in his past four games. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end WR option in deeper formats for Week 13 as he could see looks if Seattle is trailing.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu is expected to start in place of Sidney Rice (concussion) during Week 13 against Philadelphia on Thursday night. Rice sustained his second head injury in the past three weeks last Sunday versus Washington and is likely to be ruled out, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. Obomanu replaced Rice when he left in Week 12 and finished with three three receptions for 26 yards during a 23-17 loss.

News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu caught three passes for 26 yards in the Week 12 loss at home to the Redskins. Obomanu came on for QB Tarvaris Jackson after starter Sidney Rice went down with a head injury. Obomanu was targeted four times by Jackson in the game. He did not score.
Analysis: Obomanu could gain some Fantasy value if Rice has to miss any time going forward. That said, the Seahawks are facing an Eagles team in Week 13 that is all of a sudden struggling to stop opposing wide receivers. The Eagles have allowed a WR to rack up at least 95 receiving yards in five straight games and entered Week 12 having allowed five touchdowns to the position in the last five weeks. Yes, the Eagles are seemingly falling apart in the secondary at the moment and Seattle could get lateral behind the quarterback Jackson. Jackson hasn't been the best at throwing the ball, but Obomanu could see a boost in production if Rice misses time. For now, however, Obomanu is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said WR Ben Obomanu sustained ankle and knee injuries Week 11 and could be limited in practice leading up to Week 12 against the Redskins.
Analysis: Obomanu has started a few times this season because of injuries at receiver, but lately he has been on the bench and hasn't produced. Obomanu has just four catches for 27 yards in three November games since finishing October with a 107-yard performance against Cincinnati. Even if Obomanu plays Week 12, he is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: With WR Mike Williams expected to be active for Week 9 against the Cowboys, WR Ben Obomanu will come off the bench on Sunday. Obomanu got the start in in last week's contest against the Bengals and finished with four receptions for 107 yards in the 34-12 loss. Dallas enters Sunday's contest ranked 14th in pass defense, allowing 234 yards per game. The Cowboys have surrendered 11 touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 17.9 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season, which ranks 12th overall.
Analysis: Obomanu played well in place of Williams last week, but will once again come off the bench this Sunday. While the 28-year-old has turned in some decent performances thus far, his overall production has been a bit too inconsistent most weeks. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR against the Cowboys in Week 9.
News: After being held without a catch his last time out, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu was able to come up with some big grabs in Week 8 against the Bengals. He gained 107 yards on four catches in the 34-12 loss. He had a long reception of 55 and averaged 26.8 yards per catch to lead Seattle in receiving.
Analysis: Obomanu got the start on Sunday with Mike Williams inactive and could earn that role permanently with his performance against the Bengals. He could end up being a viable option in Fantasy by the end of the year so keep an eye on his progress going forward. But until he proves to be more consistent, continue to view the 28-year-old as a low-end Fantasy WR. Consider him as such heading into Week 9 against the Cowboys.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu failed to get on the stat sheet Week 7 against the Browns. He didn't record one catch on two targets in the game.
Analysis: Obomanu came into the contest with a touchdown in two straight games, but we figured it would be tough for him to keep that going with Charlie Whitehurst taking over under center for an injured Tarvaris Jackson and Mike Williams returning to the lineup to steal targets. Obomanu remains a bad Fantasy option heading into Week 8 against the Bengals.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu looks to extend his touchdown streak to three games in Week 7 against the Browns. Although, receivers haven't fared very well against Cleveland this season. WRs are averaging 14.4 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for third lowest in the NFL, and they have scored just two touchdowns in five games against Cleveland.
Analysis: Obomanu started Week 5 against the Giants because Mike Williams was injured. Williams is expected back Week 7, so Obomanu likely slides back to the bench. That is also another body to contend with for targets. Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin are also viable targets in the Seahawks passing game. On top of that, Charlie Whitehurst is expected to start at QB over the injured Tarvaris Jackson. Despite his touchdown streak, Obomanu is a desperation Fantasy option for Week 7.

That is also another body to contend with for targets. Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin are also viable targets in the Seahawks passing game. Despite his touchdown streak, Obomanu is a desperation Fantasy option for Week 7.
News: Seahawks WR Mike Williams (concussion) was listed among the team's inactives for Week 5 at the Giants. He had been ruled out on the injury report. Ben Obomanu started in his absence and finished the game with six catches for 51 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Analysis: Obomanu led the team with 10 targets, getting many of the early looks from QB Tarvaris Jackson. After Jackson left the game in the third quarter with an injury, QB Charlie Whitehurst began to feature Doug Baldwin more in the offense. Baldwin finished the game with a team-high eight catches for 136 yards on nine overall looks. The Seahawks will be on a bye in Week 6, which could be enough time for Williams to return. That makes Obomanu a player to pass over on the waiver wire for now. However, consider this performance should Obomanu find himself in another situation to contribute.
News: Seahawks WR Mike Williams (concussion) was listed among the team's inactives for Week 5 at the Giants. He had been ruled out on the injury report. Ben Obomanu was listed as a starter in his absence.
Analysis: Obomanu scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 4, but he still doesn't have more than 35 yards in a game. The Seahawks top receiver is Sidney Rice and he is the Seahawks receiver to start in Week 5. Obomanu is merely a desperation bye-week replacement. The Giants are allowing WRs to average 22 Fantasy points per week.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said WR Mike Williams (concussion) won't play Week 5 against the Giants and he will be replaced in the starting lineup by Ben Obomanu.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu netted three receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown during the Seahawks' 30-28 loss to Atlanta in Week 4 on Sunday. Obomanu connected with QB Tarvaris Jackson for an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to pull Seattle within two points of the lead. He finished with four targets from Jackson -- just two shy of the team lead held by Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin (six).
Analysis: Obomanu surprisingly reached the end zone for the first time this season as Rice and Baldwin both amassed at least 79 yards in the passing game. Obomanu entered the game averaging just 7.4 yards per outing and his longest reception of 12 yards will certainly boost that mark marginally. Fantasy owners should continue to ignore him in all formats as he is not a priority in Seattle's passing game.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu caught both passes thrown his way in Week 3 against Arizona. Obomanu finished with 12 yards in the Seahawks 13-10 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Obomanu didn't get many looks on Sunday, but Sidney Rice was back on the field for Seattle. If this is any indication of what to expect moving forward Obomanu doesn't have much Fantasy value at all. Seattle hosts Atlanta in Week 4, but Fantasy owners should leave Obomanu on the waiver wire.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was the No. 1 offensive players for the Seahawks in Week 2 at the Steelers. Unfortunately, he only had four catches for 35 yards on six targets. It was that kind of day for Seattle at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: The Seahawks were overwhelmed by the Steelers in this matchup, and none of their players performed well. Obomanu helped Seattle step up with Sidney Rice (shoulder) out, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues in Week 3 against Arizona.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu got plenty of playing time in Week 1 against San Francisco with Sidney Rice inactive. Obomanu had one carry for 13 yards and was targeted six times by QB Tarvaris Jackson. He caught just two of those passes for 12 yards. Obomanu took a shot to the head on one play late in the game, which sent him to the bench. Coach Pete Carroll told the Everett Herald after the game that Obomanu should be OK moving forward, but did not say what his injury was. Seattle ended up losing to San Francisco, 33-17.
Analysis: Obomanu got a shot to display his skills with Rice out of action and he got plenty of chances to make things happen for Seattle. Unfortunately he could be falling back down the depth chart in Week 2. With rookie Doug Baldwin's good game on Sunday and the eventual return of Rice, one has to assume there will be an odd man out. The Seahawks face the Steelers in Week 2, but for now Obomanu is only worth monitoring in Fantasy leagues.
News: Seattle coach Pete Carroll said that WR Sidney Rice was listed as doubtful for Sunday's matchup with San Francisco. That means WR Ben Obomanu will start in Rice's place if he can't go. Obomanu played in Seattle's Week 1 contest against San Fran last year, catching one pass for 6 yards.
Analysis: Obomanu isn't a big part of the offense, but should get a chance to step up on Sunday. He had a quiet preseason, catching just three passes for 19 yards. He's still adjusting to new QB Tarvaris Jackson, who isn't a proven NFL QB. Fantasy owners shouldn't scoop Obomanu up yet, but he's worth monitoring if Rice is going to be out an extended period of time.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told AM 950 in Seattle that Ben Obomanu would start in Week 1 against the 49ers if Sidney Rice (shoulder) is sidelined.
Analysis: Obomanu had a pretty quiet preseason, totaling three catches for 19 yards. He stepped up at times in 2010 when the Seahawks were beat up at receiver, so that's probably why Carroll is trusting the six-year veteran. However, Obomanu played with Matt Hasselbeck last season. If he starts Sunday, then he will be playing with Tarvaris Jackson, who has a lot to prove as an NFL QB. It's best to leave Obomanu alone in Fantasy until further notice.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu, who left partway through Tuesdays practice after hitting his head on the ground, did not play in Friday's preseason finale against the Raiders. The move was likely precautionary, especially considering he missed the first two exhibition games because of shoulder surgery.
Analysis: Obomanu had his best pro season in 2010 by far, but injuries have not allowed him to duplicate the success in the preseason. The team also brought in Sidney Rice to spear-head the passing attack opposite Mike Williams, so his value already took a hit. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his progress, but Obomanu is not worth selecting on Draft Day especially with his health in question.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu left partway through Tuesdays practice after hitting his head on the ground. Obomanu, who took over a starting job last season and is competing for the slot receiver job this year, missed the first two preseason games recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Analysis: Obomanu had his best pro season in 2010 by far, but injuries have not allowed him to duplicate the success in the preseason. The team also brought in Sidney Rice to spear-head the passing attack opposite Mike Williams, so his value already took a hit. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his progress, but Obomanu is not worth selecting on Draft Day.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu played Saturday as expected in the preseason game at Denver after being out with a shoulder injury. He had three catches for 19 yards.
Analysis: Obomanu is the No. 3 WR for the Seahawks behind Sidney Rice and Mike Williams and has minimal Fantasy value coming into the year. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The News-Tribune reports that Seattle WR Ben Obomanu will make his preseason debut Saturday at Denver. Obomanu is coming off a minor shoulder injury and coach Peter Carroll said that he likely will play at least a half. Ben is looking great, Carroll said. Weve had him out here quite a bit, but just not steady, full speed We got kind of glimpses of him, but this week he worked very hard. Ben started the last half of last season and really made a difference for us, and hes just picked up right where he left off. Expect to see Obomanu in the slot with the first unit when they run three-receiver sets.
Analysis: Obomanu lost some Fantasy appeal when the Seahawks signed Sidney Rice. Keep an eye on how he does, but he is not worth drafting in the majority of leagues this season.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu registered 68 yards on four receptions in the Seahawks' 35-24 loss to Chicago in Sunday's NFC Divisional Playoff. Obomanu, who was targeted eight times by QB Matt Hasselbeck, netted 46 of his yards on pass along the sidelines with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. It was also the sixth consecutive game he failed to reach the end zone.
Analysis: Obomanu finished behind only Brandon Stokley (85 yards) for the team lead in Sunday's game. His output against the Bears with his third-highest total of the season and most in his last six games. Obomanu, who separated his shoulder in Seattle's victory over New Orleans in the Wild Card Round, receiving a contract extension through 2014 after his 30-catch season. Still, he represents a low-end Fantasy option heading into 2011 drafts.
News: The Seahawks announced Friday WR Ben Obomanu has received an extension through 2014. He had his best pro season in 2010, hauling in 30 catches for 494 yards and four scores, despite battling a few injuries. On multiple occasions, coach Pete Carroll has pointed to Obomanu as a player who earned a chance and took advantage of it. He won the starting job midseason after spending most of his career on special teams. Obomanu separated his shoulder in last week's Wild Card upset win over the Saints, but he's not on the injury report heading into Sunday's Divisional game against the Bears.
Analysis: Obomanu scored three touchdowns in a four-week span earlier this season, and he vaulted to the No. 2 WR spot opposite Mike Williams. Still, he had kind of a sluggish finish to the 2010 regular season because of injury. Coming off of 11 targets last week, Obomanu figures to be a big part of the game plan again on Sunday. While there's no guarantee he will continue to start heading into 2011, he will at least be in contention heading into training camp -- especially if he continues to play well in the playoffs. Consider the Auburn product in the late rounds on Draft Day. In Playoff Challenges, he is a low-end option.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu, who separated his shoulder in Saturday's Wild Card win against New Orleans but was able to come back into the game, is expected to practice this week leading up to the team's Divisional playoff game against the Bears.
Analysis: Obomanu had kind of a sluggish finish to the 2010 regular season because of injury, so it's a shame to see him get hurt early in the playoffs. But it seems he will play on despite the injury. Obomanu was targeted 11 times against New Orleans, so he definitely has good rapport with QB Matt Hasselbeck. Consider using Obomanu in Fantasy playoff formats. Obomanu will likely be a late-round Fantasy option on Draft Day 2011.
News: Despite suffering a separated shoulder at the tail end of a 10-yard reception in the first half, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu returned to finish the Wild Card game against the Saints on Saturday. Though he dropped a few catchable passes, Obomanu finished with five catches for 43 yards. QB Matt Hasselbeck targeted him a team-high 11 times in the shocking win over the defending Super Bowl champions.
Analysis: Obomanu missed a series with the injury, but he hauled in a pass in on the first play he returned to the field. He was Hasselbeck's favorite target all afternoon long, and he appeared to have plays designed to go his way in the game plan. Still, he is not a recommended starter in Fantasy playoff leagues. Heading into 2011, he has a chance to start alongside WR Mike Williams. If Obomanu does, he should be considered a low-end Fantasy option fit to be drafted only in deeper leagues.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu has returned to the game after heading to the locker room with a shoulder issue. He caught a pass on his first play back.
Analysis: Obomanu has seen four passes his way early in the game, and he figures to see plenty more with the Seahawks trailing for most of the afternoon.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu has left the Wild Card game against the Saints with an apparent wrist injury. He used his right arm to break his fall after a 10-yard reception along the sideline. Obomanu is in the locker room for further evaluation.
Analysis: Obomanu seemed to be a big part of the gameplan early, seeing three passes on the team's first two drives before leaving with the injury. We'll keep you posted on a possible return.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had his best game since November in the Week 17 win over the Rams. He hauled in five passed for 39 yards from QB Charlie Whiethurst, who targeted him a team-high eight times. Obomanu had just five catches combined over his last three games.
Analysis: Obomanu has easily had his best season as a pro in 2010. He finished the regular season with 30 catches for 494 yards and four touchdowns, all new career-highs for the former Auburn WR. He has a chance to build on his best season in the playoffs next week against the Saints. If he can put together a solid post season, the 'Hawks are likely to keep him around despite some injury concerns. Still, in 2011 it is hard for us to imagine him as anything more than a low-end Fantasy option fit only for late-round selection.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu enters Week 17 against the Rams averaging 18.2 yards per catch. However, his average has taken a big hit lately. In his last two games, he is averaging just 8.3 yards per catch (three receptions). The Rams are allowing WRs to average 14.6 yards per catch. Unfortunately, Obomanu had no catches in the first game against St. Louis in Week 4.
Analysis: Obomanu wasn't much of a factor on offense the first time he faced the Rams, but now he is considered the Seahawks' second-best receiver behind Mike Williams. Unfortunately, Obomanu has been sleepwalking since returning from a hand injury in Week 15. And we aren't sure he is ready to break out again in Week 17 with Charlie Whitehurst expected to quarterback the offense. Obomanu is a risky Fantasy option.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu only managed to haul in two passes for 18 yards in the Week 16 loss to the Buccaneers, but he managed to score some points in the process. QB Charlie Whitehurst found him on a 2-point conversion late in the game. Obomanu was targeted a team-high (tied) four times on the afternoon.
Analysis: Obomanu has now caught two or less passes in three straight games -- missing one in between due to injury. He has failed to find the end zone in that span after putting up more than 200 yards and a pair of scores in the two games before it. Heading into the Week 17 game against the Rams, Obomanu seems like too big of a Fantasy risk.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu had just one reception for seven yards in the Seahawks' 34-18 loss to Atlanta in Week 15. Obomanu, who missed Seattle's Week 14 game with a hand injury and was listed as probable on the injury report, was targeted eight times -- second on the team to Mike Williams (13). It was the fifth time this season Obomanu has recorded just one reception in a game.
Analysis: Obomanu didn't appear to be hampered by the hand injury he sustained in the Seahawks' Week 13 against Carolina but was limited by the ineffectiveness of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Since his 159-yard outing against Kansas City in Week 12 -- with Mike Williams out -- Obomanu has tallied just three receptions and 47 yards. He likely won't help Fantasy teams for the remainder of the season and should be left on waiver wires.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu is active for the the Seahawks' Week 15 game against Atlanta. Obomanu, who was probable for the contest against the NFC South-leading Falcons, practiced this week after a hand injury forced him to miss Seattle's Week 14 game. Obomanu has totaled 430 receiving yards on 22 catches this season.
Analysis: Obomanu, who sustained a severe laceration to his right hand against Carolina in Week 13 and missed last week's game, will be one of two standout receivers returning for the Seahawks. Mike Williams, who has played just one series in his last three games, will join Obomanu to provide Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck his best receiving options in several weeks. Obomanu should only be considered a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 15 against a Falcons defense that is allowing opposing wideouts and average of 24.4 Fantasy points per week.
News: Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu will return Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons after missing last week's game with injuries. Williams has played just one series in the past three weeks because of foot and ankle sprains. Obomanu sustained a severe laceration to his right hand against Carolina two weeks ago that forced him to sit out last weekend against San Francisco.
Analysis: The third-year receiver had a breakout November, catching 15 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns over four games. With Seattle very thin on receiving talent, Obomanu will have a good opportunity to play on nearly every down against the Falcons and isn't a bad No. 3 Fantasy option, especially in PPR leagues. The Falcons are allowing WRs to average 24.4 Fantasy points per week, which is fourth highest in the NFL.
News: Wide receiver Ben Obomanu returned to Seahawks practice Wednesday after he missed Week 14 with a severely lacerated hand. Coach Pete Carroll said Obomanu will be limited in the amount of passes thrown his way as they try to protect his injured hand. "It's a factor that he has to get used to and adapt to. He will adapt to that," Carroll said. "It's not going to be perfect but it's going to be something he can adjust to. We will see how well that turns out."
We'll keep you posted on his status.
News: Seattle wide receivers Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu are expected to practice this week and have a good chance of playing in Week 15 vs. the Falcons according to the Seattle Times. Obomanu missed Week 14 with a hand laceration deemed too serious to risk playing with.
We'll keep you posted on his status.
News: The Seahawks were missing both starting wide receivers for the Week 14 game in San Francisco. Seattle had both Ben Obomanu and Mike Williams as inactives for the game. Obomanu is out with a hand injury. He was questionable entering the Week 14 game. Ruvell Martin and Deon Butler started for Seattle.
Analysis: Seattle's passing game was in trouble prior to both receivers being out for the Week 14 game. At this point, we wouldn't trust any Seattle receiver. Obomanu has played well this year, at times, but should be avoided in all Fantasy leagues for Week 14.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu again missed practice Friday with his injured hand, and he will be a game-time decision for his Week 14 matchup at San Francisco on Sunday. But Seahawks coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism that Obomanu will be active against the 49ers. "I think he'll play," Carroll said. "He's got stitches in his hand (and) they're going to be there on game day. We just got to see how it works for him and see how the little device they've been putting on his hand works out for him and all that."
Analysis: We expect Obomanu to play against the 49ers, and he should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR. Mike Williams (ankle) is likely out even though he also is considered a game-time decision, and Obomanu has played well when Williams missed time earlier this year with a foot injury. Keep an eye on Obomanu's status, but he might be a good sleeper for Week 14.
News: As expected, top receivers Mike Williams (ankle) and Ben Obomanu (foot) both sat out practice for the second consecutive day Thursday. Neither have been ruled out for Week 14 against the 49ers, but if one or both doesn't play, the Seahawks will need Deon Butler or rookie Golden Tate to fill the void.
Analysis: Friday is going to be a critical day for Obomanu. If he doesn't practice, then it is unlikely he will play Week 14. Even if he practices, he might not be 100 percent for Week 14. Obomanu has just one catch for 6 yards in the opener against San Francisco, but his role on offense wasn't what it is now. Obomanu is a starter and has turned into a decent Fantasy option. Keep tabs on his progress through the weekend.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu (hand) didn't practice Wednesday, but coach Pete Carroll said he hopes Obomanu can work out later in the week.
Analysis: Obomanu has played well in the absence of Mike Williams, but now he's injured too and might well miss this Sunday's key game against the 49ers. If he does manage to start, Obomanu should only be considered a low-end flex option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Seattle wide receiver Ben Obomanu suffered a severe laceration that required several stitches to close up following a devastating hit by Carolina safety Charles Godfrey in the second quarter of the Seahawks' 31-14 victory in Week 13. Obomanu hauled in a 27-yard pass from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck across the middle before Godfrey met him with a crunching tackle. Obomanu stayed on the ground for a minute before walking to the locker room with trainers and holding his wrist wrapped in a towel. He did not break any bones, but had his hand heavily wrapped in the locker room. He finished with two receptions for 40 yards on Sunday.
Analysis: Obomanu was the second Seattle receiver to go down with an injury in Sunday's game. Mike Williams left the game on the team's first possession and did not return, depleting the receiving options for Hasselbeck. Obomanu shined in Williams' absence last week and likely would have received more targets against the Panthers if not for the injury. "It was just a good hit in a good place and I think we all get cut, it was just one of those things where he got me pretty good," Obomanu said. "I didn't look at it, but it was pretty bad. We just had to come in and make sure they do what's best for me so I can get back on the field." Obomanu, like Williams, said he expects to play in Week 14 against San Francisco. Be sure to monitor both receivers' health leading up to Sunday as they could be risky Fantasy plays if not completely healthy.
News: Seattle wide receiver Ben Obomanu left late in the second quarter of Sunday's game against Carolina with an apparent wrist injury. Obomanu hauled in a pass from Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck across the middle but received a devastating hit from Panthers safety Charles Godfrey. Obomanu stayed on the ground for a minute before walking to the locker room with trainers and holding his wrist wrapped in a towel. His return is questionable.
Analysis: That's two Seattle receivers who have left with an injury in Week 13. Mike Williams was sidelined with an ankle injury early in the first quarter and now Obomanu appears unlikely to return. Obomanu, who shined in Williams' absence last week, had two receptions for 40 yards before he left the game.
News: With leading receiver Mike Williams (foot) officially questionable for Seattle's Week 13 game against Carolina, Ben Obomanu could be in line for another big outing on Sunday. The fifth-year receiver hauled in five catches for a career-high 159 yards in the Seahawks' loss to Kansas City in Week 12. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck targeted the 6-foot-1 Obomanu six times against the Chiefs and could continue to look his way on Sunday if Williams is out.
Analysis: Since moving into the starting lineup in Week 10, Obomanu has 306 receiving yards, two touchdowns and four catches of 40-plus yards in three games. While it will be difficult for Obomanu to repeat his Week 12 performance, he could be a top option against Carolina. If Williams is inactive, consider Obomanu a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR this week. Keep in mind, if Williams is healthy enough to play Sunday, Obomanu should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Since moving into the starting lineup, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu has 306 receiving yards, two touchdowns and four catches of 40 or more yards over a three-game stretch. If WR Mike Williams (foot) cant play again, expect QB Matt Hasselbeck to keep throwing Obomanus direction.
Analysis: It will be hard for Obamanu to have a repeat performance of this magnitude once Williams comes back so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the wide-receiver situation heading into Sunday. If Obomanu is the No. 1 again against Carolina in Week 13, he will be worth using in most formats. If Williams is healthy enough to play, Obomanu will be a low-end option. It should also be noted that most of his receiving yards last week came after the team was facing a large deficit.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had the finest performance of his career in Week 12 against the Chiefs. With Mike Williams inactive due to a foot injury, Obomanu stepped up in a big way. He finished with five receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown in the 42-24 loss. He posted just two catches for 10 yards in the first half, but on the first play after halftime QB Matt Hasselbeck connected with Obomanu on a 51-yard pass. The 27-year-old trumped that play in the fourth quarter when he was left wide open and scored from 87 yards yards out. Obomanu was targeted six times in the defeat and averaged 31.8 yards per reception.
Analysis: Obomanu almost has as many yards receiving in Week 12 as he had in the first 10 games this season and definitely made up for the loss of Williams. Granted most of his yardage, and lone score, came on plays in which he was left wide open but the fifth-year man out of Auburn showed his big-play ability. He has quietly put together a decent season and now has four touchdown grabs. It will be hard for him to have a repeat performance of this magnitude once Williams comes back so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the wide-receiver situation heading into next week. If Obomanu is the No. 1 again against Carolina in Week 13, he will be worth using in most formats. If Williams is healthy enough to play, Obomanu will be a low-end option.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu caught his third touchdown of the year in Week 11 at the end of the first half. He was targeted six times, catching five passes for 87 yard. He made his first career start last week, and had a productive game with 60 receiving yards and 17 rushing yards.
Analysis: Obomanu is moving up the ladder on Seattle's depth chart. If Mike Williams can't go next week against Kansas City, Obomanu's Fantasy value should go up. But without Williams to draw the attention of the defense, Obomanu could also falter under the pressure. He isn't owned in any Fantasy leagues for a reason, but has been garnering more attention the last two weeks. Continue to monitor him through the week. He is just a low-end WR option for now.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had his most productive game of the season in Week 10 against the Cardinals. He caught four passes for 60 yards and also carried the ball two times, gaining another 17 yards, in the 36-18 win. He was targeted five times in the victory and finished third on Seattle in receiving.
Analysis: Obomanu entered Week 10 with just six catches for 84 yards but nearly matched those totals in one game. Sunday was easily his most impressive performance of the year and Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the 27-year-old to see if this is just a sign of things to come. Obomanu also has two touchdown grabs this season but still remains more of a low-end Fantasy WR heading into Week 11 against the Saints.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had just one reception in Week 9 against the Giants, but it was a big one. Obomanu was on the receiving end of a 36-yard touchdown strike from Charlie Whitehurst in the fourth quarter that gave Seattle its lone score of the game. It was his only target in the 41-7 loss.
Analysis: Obomanu now has two touchdowns on the season to go along with 84 yards. While he has the ability to stretch the field, he is Seattle's No. 4 receiver and doesn't many passes thrown in his direction. His Fantasy value isn't likely to increase much until he starts producing on a more consistent basis. We don't recommend starting him in Week 10 against the Cardinals.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu saw limited action in Week 7 against the Cardinals. He was targeted for just one pass from QB Matt Hasselbeck, catching it for 7 yards in the 22-10 win.
Analysis: Obomanu has four receptions on the year for 43 yards and a touchdown. His Fantasy value isn't likely to increase much until he starts producing on a consistent basis. He will be the No. 4 receiver though, so the chances of that happening are slim. Continue to ignore Obomanu in Fantasy play heading into Week 8 against the Raiders.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that WR Ben Obomanu will get increased reps now that WR Deion Branch is no longer in the picture.
Analysis: Obomanu has done nothing since catching a touchdown in Week 2 and his Fantasy value isn't likely to increase much until he starts producing on a consistent basis. He will be the No. 4 receiver though, so the chances of that happening are slim. Continue to ignore Obomanu in Fantasy play.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu found the end zone in Week 2 against Denver. He was targeted twice, catching both passes for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Obomanu didn't do much in Week 1, so his Week 2 output is definitely an improvement. Unfortunately he has little Fantasy value and can be ignored heading into Week 3 with San Diego coming to town.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had one catch for 6 yards during Week 1. It was the only time he was targeted in the 31-6 win over San Francisco.
Analysis: Obomanu ranks too low on the depth chart to make an impact in Fantasy. We don't recommend using him during his Week 2 matchup at Denver.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught one pass for 7 yards Week 17 against the Titans. The reception was his fourth of the season.
Analysis: Obomanu ranks too low on the depth chart to make an impact in Fantasy, and that doesn't figure to change in 2010. Don't bother with him on Draft Day.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was limited to kick returns Week 15 against Tampa Bay before suffering a hamstring injury and leaving the game.
Analysis: Obomanu usually doesn't factor into the Seattle offense and doesn't need to be on rosters for Week 16 at Green Bay.
News: Seahawks RB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed in a Week 14 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers in Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught a 12-yard pass against the 49ers in Week 13, his first reception since Week 3. He has just three receptions all season.
Analysis: Obomanu is too low on the depth chart to make a difference in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 at Houston.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, QB Seneca Wallace, RB Louis Rankin and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed in a Week 12 win over the Rams but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 13 vs. San Francisco.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, FB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and RB Louis Rankin all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 11 at the Vikings.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 12 against St. Louis.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu and TE John Owens both dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 10 against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Both Obomanu and Owens are backups for the Seahawks and hardly factor on offense. They should not be owned in Fantasy heading into Week 11 against the Vikings.
News: Seattle QB Mike Teel, WR Mike Hass, DB Jamar Adams, DL Red Bryant, WR Ben Obomanu and TE Cameron Morrah have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 9 game against the Lions.
Analysis: None of the players listed carry much Fantasy appeal. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, FB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 8 at Dallas.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 9 against Detroit.
News: Seahawks RB Justin Griffith, WR Deon Butler, RB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 6 against Arizona.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves or special teams contributors for the Seahawks. They don't do enough on a weekly basis to warrant use in most Fantasy formats. The Seahawks are on a bye in Week 7 before returning to action Week 8 against Dallas.
News:Ben Obomanu, John Owens and Deon Butler all failed to record a stat Week 5 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: None of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can be ignored in all formats.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Mike Teel all dressed for Seattle's Week 4 loss to the Colts, but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can be ignored in all formats.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu hauled in one catch for 11 yards during a Week 3 loss to the Bears. It was his lone target in the game.
Analysis: Obomanu has just two catches this season and they both have gone for 11 yards. Obomanu is buried on the Seahawks depth chart and is merely just a reserve body. He has no Fantasy appeal heading into Week 4 against the Colts.
News: Seahawks RB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and TE Cameron Morrah, didn't record offensive statistics Week 2 at San Francisco.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers for Week 2 against the Bears.
News: With veteran Seahawks receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Nate Burleson, Deion Branch and rookie Deon Butler virtual locks to make the roster, there appear to be seven receivers competing for the final two spots. In Monday evening's practice, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu looked sharp as he juked CB Marquis Floyd twice. "Sometimes it helps to run a bad route (several plays before)," Obomanu said. "These guys are always going for the interception, and you can get them on a counter-route." Obomanu, who's competing with Courtney Taylor, Jordan Kent and Michael Bumpus -- among others -- for the final two roster spots, said this about the position battle: "You have to realize the coaches watch everything from how you carry yourself to how you run your routes."
Analysis: Keep an eye on who wins the job, but none of these guys have much Fantasy value this season unless the starters get hurt. Leave them out of your plans on Draft Day.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was placed on injured reserve one day after breaking his clavicle in the preseason finale against Oakland.
Analysis: Obomanu was the most experienced of a young group of Seattle receivers being called upon to pick up for the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram. Now, he's lost for the season. It's safe to officially cut ties with Obomanu and not think about him again until next year.
News: The depleted Seahawks' receiving corps took another hit Friday night when Ben Obomanu broke his clavicle early in Seattle's 23-16 preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders. Obomanu was injured midway through the first quarter after making a 33-yard catch over the middle, landing hard on his shoulder. Coach Mike Holmgren revealed the injury after the game. "That's a tough one, certainly," Holmgren said. "I feel bad for him. He was very much in our plans." Asked if Obomanu may be placed on injured reserve, Holmgren said, "It's a possibility."
Analysis: Obomanu was the most experienced of a young group of Seattle receivers being called upon to pick up for the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram. Branch is still recovering from major knee surgery. Engram broke a bone in his shoulder in Seattle's first preseason game in Minnesota and could be out into October. Obomanu had two catches for 49 yards, including a long reception of 33 yards, before leaving Friday's game. He had just three catches in the preseason. Obomanu was in the running to perhaps start for Seattle with Engram and Branch sidelined, but this injury could erase those thoughts. Obomanu was nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve anyway, but now he can be cleaned off rosters for now.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu, who is almost assured a roster spot, injured his shoulder late in the first half Friday and did not return in the preseason finale against the Raiders. It was the latest injury for Seattle's battered receivers. Bobby Engram, who set a team record with 94 catches last season, may be out into October with a broken shoulder. And former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch is just seven months into rehabilitation from reconstructive knee surgery. He may test his knee next week to see if he can play in the opener.
Analysis: Obomanu had two catches for 49 yards, including a long reception of 33 yards, before leaving Friday's game. He had just three catches in the preseason. Obomanu was in the running to perhaps start for Seattle with Engram and Branch sidelined, but this injury could muddy the picture. Obomanu is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve heading into Week 1.
News: With Seahawks leading receiver Bobby Engram expected to miss six to eight weeks with a cracked shoulder, the club will begin auditioning WRs Ben Obomanu, Jordan Kent and Courtney Taylor for Engram's spot for their first three games.
Analysis: Obomanu is a third-year receiver who has drawn rave reviews thus far in camp while Kent and Taylor are second-year receivers aiming to bump their workload. Obomanu is considered the favorite to get Engram's starting spot for now. All three receivers are not worth drafting in standard drafts but could come into play off the waiver wire this season. We'll keep you posted on who's going to get the job.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu is earning his spot with the Seahawks this year, reports the News Tribune. Obomanu's work ethic and consistency earned him a regular appearance with veterans Bobby Engram and Nate Burleson in the team's frequently used three-receiver sets. With Deion Branch still recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee, and with questions lingering if he will be ready for the team's regular season opener at Buffalo, the competition at receiver has produced several candidates with Obomanu battling with Courtney Taylor, Logan Payne and Jordan Kent. But Obomanu has stood out so far and is ahead of the other two. Last year, he saw action in 13 games, finishing with 12 receptions and 180 yards with one touchdown.
Analysis: Seattle needs help at receiver, and Obomanu could provide the answer. He is worth taking with a late-round flier in deep leagues. Don't draft Taylor, Payne or Kent at this time, but keep an eye on how they do in case they earn regular playing time during the year.
News: The Seattle Times reports Seahawks wide receivers Ben Obomanu and Courtney Taylor are taking advantage of extra snaps in practices over the past two weeks to show what they can do and how well they have learned the offense. The Seahawks are down three experienced receivers with the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram and the departure of D.J. Hackett via free agency. If the season started today, Nate Burleson, Obomanu and Taylor would likely be the Seahawks' top receivers even though Obomanu is entering his third season one of those on the practice squad and Taylor his second after limited action as a rookie.
Analysis: Obomanu, who caught his first 12 career passes for 180 yards and a touchdown last season, is seeing time at all of the receiver spots this offseason, as is Taylor. The versatility to play flanker, split end and slot receiver will bolster the depth at the position for Seattle. Taylor sees all of the receivers holding each other accountable for their performance in practice. That he is a sixth-round draft pick and Obomanu a seventh-rounder gives the Seahawks two largely unknown commodities, at least outside the organization. Consider both sleepers in Fantasy leagues this year. Seattle needs help at receiver, and Obomanu and Taylor will be asked to play a prominent role.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had been known as a special-teams stalwart before 2007, but that changed. Getting a taste of playing time in the middle of the year thanks to various injuries for the 'Hawks, Obomanu notched 180 yards on 12 catches with a touchdown.
Analysis: Obomanu will enter his magical third NFL season in 2008. If he gets the chance to compete for a job this training camp, he's one to watch as a low-end sleeper in all drafts. Think about spending one of your last two picks on him this summer.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was more than just a special-teams player in his second season, catching 16 passes for 243 yards (15.2 avg.) with a touchdown in 2007. Obomanu was forced into action when injuries hampered the Seattle receiving corps. He caught at least one pass in eight games after missing the first two games of the season with a hamstring tweak. Obomanu will be a third-year receiver and enter into a contract year in 2008, and he might find regular playing time at the start of the season with the club expected to be without WR Deion Branch, who tore his ACL in a January playoff game.
Analysis: There's a whole lot of motivation for Obomanu, a former Auburn receiver that started to come into his own in limited playing time last season. If you're fishing for sleepers in the deepest of Fantasy Football leagues, spending a late-round pick on Obomanu might not be such a bad move -- assuming Seattle doesn't add talent to its receiving corps this offseason.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught one pass for six yards during a Week 16 win against the Ravens. He now has one catch in each of his last three games, but doesn't have a touchdown in nine games.
Analysis: Obomanu had a moment or two earlier in the season, but the second-year player out of Auburn is buried on the depth chart. However, he might see plenty of playing time Week 17 against the Falcons as Seattle will likely rest some of their starters since they have already locked up the third seed in the NFC playoffs. Still, Obomanu is a Fantasy stretch.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu had an 18-yard catch at Carolina in Week 15.
Analysis: Obomanu doesn't regularly post enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. Don't expect to use him vs. Baltimore in Week 16.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught one pass for 18 yards during a Week 14 win against the Cardinals. It was his first reception in four games and the seventh straight game he recorded one or fewer catches.
Analysis: Obomanu had a moment or two earlier in the season, but the second-year player out of Auburn is buried on the depth chart. He has little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 15 against the Panthers.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace, FB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru, TE Will Heller, WR Courtney Taylor and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 13 at Philly.
Analysis: All of these players are backups for the Seahawks and won't factor much into the offensive gameplan at this time. Ignore them heading into Week 14 against the Cardinals.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, RB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 11 against the Bears.
Analysis: All of these players are backups for the Seahawks and won't factor much into the offensive gameplan at this time. Ignore them heading into Week 12 against the Rams.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught one pass for 11 yards Week 10 against the 49ers.
Analysis: Obomanu doesn't see many passes for the Seahawks, especially with the return of D.J. Hackett in Week 9 and expected return of Deion Branch in Week 11. Keep Obomanu on waivers for Week 11 against the Bears.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu caught a seven-yard pass Week 9 at Cleveland.
Analysis: Obomanu doesn't see many passes for the Seahawks, especially with the return of D.J. Hackett this week and Deion Branch in Week 10. Keep Obomanu on waivers for Week 10 against the 49ers.
News: Seahawks FB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace didn't record statistics in Week 7's 33-6 win against the Rams.
Analysis: These players either don't play or mostly block when they do, meaning they have little Fantasy value. The Seahawks have a bye in Week 8 before visiting Cleveland in Week 9.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu posted 72 yards on four receptions and his first-career touchdown in Week 6 against the Saints. In Week 7, he will get another chance as the No. 3 WR in Seattle as the Seahawks take on the winless Rams.
Analysis: Obomanu was targeted 10 times in Week 6, and if the Seahawks struggle to run the ball again in Week 7, he will see plenty of snaps against the Rams. However, the Rams' run defense is terrible, so it's unlikely Obomanu will repeat his career game from last week. Still, he might be worth a look as a No. 4 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option this week as an emergency bye-week replacement.
News: Ben Obomanu, who spent his rookie season on the team's practice squad in 2006, posted 72 yards on four receptions and his first-career touchdown in Week 6 against the Saints.
Analysis: Obomanu entered the game with just two receptions for 38 yards (all last week) in his career. This might be the beginning of something for the Auburn product, especially with Deion Branch (foot) sidelined until at least Week 9. However, don't use him as anything more than a No. 4 receiver or 'flex' player heading into Week 7 against St. Louis.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu had two catches for 38 yards Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Obomanu got extended playing time once Deion Branch (foot) left the game. He is not worth using in any Fantasy league in Week 6 against New Orleans even if Branch were seriously hurt.
News: RB Alvin Pearman, TE Will Heller and WR Ben Obomanu all played in the Week 4 win over the 49er, but didn't have any offensive statistics. Pearman was hurt on special teams.
Analysis: None of these players are worth considering Fantasy-wise at this point.
News: Notable inactives from Week 3's Cincinnati-Seattle game include: Bengals LB Ahmad Brooks, QB Jeff Rowe (No. 3/emergency QB), DB Nedu Ndukwe, DB Ethan Kilmer, WR Tab Perry, DL Frostee Rucker and LB Rashad Jeanty. For the Bengals, OT Levi Jones will not start. LBs Lemar Marshall and Caleb Miller will start for the Bengals. The Seahawks' inactives are: DL Jason Babin, LB Kevin Bentley, QB Charlie Frye (No. 3/emergency QB), WR D.J. Hackett, TE Bennie Joppru, RB Maurice Morris and WR Ben Obomanu.
Analysis: Perry and Hackett remain sidelined for their respective teams and should be benched in Fantasy play as well. The remainder of the players listed here aren't reliable Fantasy owners.
News: The Seahawks listed QB Charlie Frye (third QB), WR D.J. Hackett (ankle), RB Maurice Morris (hip), DL Jason Babin (coach's decision), LB Leroy Hill (foot) and WR Ben Obamanu (hamstring) as inactive for Week 2 at Arizona.
Analysis: None of these players should be on your active Fantasy roster. That should not change until further notice.
News: The Seattle Seahawks are happy with Ben Obomanu, a seventh-round pick in 2006. He will likely make his season debut Sunday at Arizona after missing the season opener because of a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Obomanu is buried on the depth chart for now, although he slides up a little with D.J. Hackett out indefinitely due to a high ankle sprain.
News: Ben Obomanu, the reserve receiver for the Seahawks, is inactive for Week 1 against the Buccaneers due to his hamstring injury.
Analysis: The fifth receiver for the 'Hawks is not worth using in Fantasy leagues when he is healthy enough to play.
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu missed a second day of practice Thursday while trying to recover from a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Obomanu is the fifth WR on the Seahawks squad, so therefore is not worth any Fantasy consideration at this point.
News: Seahawks WRs Ben Obomanu and Logan Payne along with backup TE Ben Joppru each had two receptions at Green Bay in Seattle's second preseason game. Joppru had 26 yards, Obomanu had 24 yards and Payne had 18 yards.
Analysis: All three of these guys are reserves for Seattle, with Obomanu a special-teams standout. Do not rely on any of these players to help you win a Fantasy championship in 2007.
News: The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their depleted wide receiving corps Friday by promoting rookie Ben Obomanu from the practice squad. Two Seahawks wide receivers are listed as questionable against the Cowboys and their recently porous defensive secondary. Leading receiver Darrell Jackson has not practiced all week because of a strained toe ligament in his left foot. Emerging wideout D.J. Hackett injured a hip flexor in last Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Obomanu was Seattle's second seventh-round pick in last April's draft. The former Auburn receiver has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad. He is not a recommended Fantasy option in Fantasy postseason leagues.
News: The following players have been signed to Seattle's practice squad: FB David Kirtman, LB Lance Laury, WR Ben Obomanu, DE Robert Pollard, CB Gerard Ross, C Pat Ross, TE Leonard Stephens and RB Marquis Weeks.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to gain regular active roles with the Seahawks this season, so keep them off Fantasy Football rosters.
News: On Saturday, the Seahawks cut the following players to trim their roster down to 53 players: running back Jimmy Dixon, guard William Henry, cornerback Kevin Hobbs, receiver C.J. Jones, rookie fullback and fifth-round draft choice David Kirtman, quarterback Travis Lulay, linebacker Lance Laury, guard Jason Murphy, rookie receiver and seventh-round pick Ben Obomanu, defensive end Robert Pollard, cornerback Gerard Ross, center Pat Ross, tight end Leonard Stephens, receiver Justin Surrency, defensive end John Syptak, running back Marquis Weeks, linebacker Cornelius Wortham, and tight end Matt Murphy.
Analysis: None of these players had any Fantasy value anyway. Ignore them.
News: Rookie Ben Obomanu had one reception for just five yards in Sunday's preseason game at Indianapolis, as he looks to improve his chances of making the Seahawks as their No. 4 or 5 receiver.
Analysis: Obomanu is challenging for the No. 4 or 5 receiver job in Seattle with injured D.J. Hackett (hamstring), veteran Peter Warrick and youngsters Tony Brown and Keenan Howry, among others. Even if he comes out of the preseason with one of the jobs, his Fantasy appeal is minimal.
News: The Seahawks have signed seventh-round pick Ben Obomanu to a multi-year deal. Obomanu, Auburn's second-leading touchdown receiver, is getting a shot as the team's kick returner.
Analysis: Obomanu should not be considered in any Fantasy leagues for 2006, and possibly not into the future, either.
