He has no Fantasy appeal heading into Week 4 against the Colts.

Seahawks receivers battle for spot Seahawks receivers battle for spot Updated 8/4/2009
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: With veteran Seahawks receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Nate Burleson, Deion Branch and rookie Deon Butler virtual locks to make the roster, there appear to be seven receivers competing for the final two spots. In Monday evening's practice, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu looked sharp as he juked CB Marquis Floyd twice. "Sometimes it helps to run a bad route (several plays before)," Obomanu said. "These guys are always going for the interception, and you can get them on a counter-route." Obomanu, who's competing with Courtney Taylor, Jordan Kent and Michael Bumpus -- among others -- for the final two roster spots, said this about the position battle: "You have to realize the coaches watch everything from how you carry yourself to how you run your routes." Analysis: Keep an eye on who wins the job, but none of these guys have much Fantasy value this season unless the starters get hurt. Leave them out of your plans on Draft Day.

Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was placed on injured reserve one day after breaking his clavicle in the preseason finale against Oakland. Analysis: Obomanu was the most experienced of a young group of Seattle receivers being called upon to pick up for the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram. Now, he's lost for the season. It's safe to officially cut ties with Obomanu and not think about him again until next year.
Obomanu breaks clavicle Friday Obomanu breaks clavicle Friday Updated 8/30/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: The depleted Seahawks' receiving corps took another hit Friday night when Ben Obomanu broke his clavicle early in Seattle's 23-16 preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders. Obomanu was injured midway through the first quarter after making a 33-yard catch over the middle, landing hard on his shoulder. Coach Mike Holmgren revealed the injury after the game. "That's a tough one, certainly," Holmgren said. "I feel bad for him. He was very much in our plans." Asked if Obomanu may be placed on injured reserve, Holmgren said, "It's a possibility." Analysis: Obomanu was the most experienced of a young group of Seattle receivers being called upon to pick up for the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram. Branch is still recovering from major knee surgery. Engram broke a bone in his shoulder in Seattle's first preseason game in Minnesota and could be out into October. Obomanu had two catches for 49 yards, including a long reception of 33 yards, before leaving Friday's game. He had just three catches in the preseason. Obomanu was in the running to perhaps start for Seattle with Engram and Branch sidelined, but this injury could erase those thoughts. Obomanu was nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve anyway, but now he can be cleaned off rosters for now.
Obomanu injures shoulder Friday Obomanu injures shoulder Friday Updated 8/30/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu, who is almost assured a roster spot, injured his shoulder late in the first half Friday and did not return in the preseason finale against the Raiders. It was the latest injury for Seattle's battered receivers. Bobby Engram, who set a team record with 94 catches last season, may be out into October with a broken shoulder. And former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch is just seven months into rehabilitation from reconstructive knee surgery. He may test his knee next week to see if he can play in the opener. Analysis: Obomanu had two catches for 49 yards, including a long reception of 33 yards, before leaving Friday's game. He had just three catches in the preseason. Obomanu was in the running to perhaps start for Seattle with Engram and Branch sidelined, but this injury could muddy the picture. Obomanu is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve heading into Week 1.
Seattle trio vies for starting job Seattle trio vies for starting job Updated 8/11/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: With Seahawks leading receiver Bobby Engram expected to miss six to eight weeks with a cracked shoulder, the club will begin auditioning WRs Ben Obomanu, Jordan Kent and Courtney Taylor for Engram's spot for their first three games. Analysis: Obomanu is a third-year receiver who has drawn rave reviews thus far in camp while Kent and Taylor are second-year receivers aiming to bump their workload. Obomanu is considered the favorite to get Engram's starting spot for now. All three receivers are not worth drafting in standard drafts but could come into play off the waiver wire this season. We'll keep you posted on who's going to get the job.
Obomanu ahead of pack Obomanu ahead of pack Updated 8/6/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu is earning his spot with the Seahawks this year, reports the News Tribune. Obomanu's work ethic and consistency earned him a regular appearance with veterans Bobby Engram and Nate Burleson in the team's frequently used three-receiver sets. With Deion Branch still recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee, and with questions lingering if he will be ready for the team's regular season opener at Buffalo, the competition at receiver has produced several candidates with Obomanu battling with Courtney Taylor, Logan Payne and Jordan Kent. But Obomanu has stood out so far and is ahead of the other two. Last year, he saw action in 13 games, finishing with 12 receptions and 180 yards with one touchdown. Analysis: Seattle needs help at receiver, and Obomanu could provide the answer. He is worth taking with a late-round flier in deep leagues. Don't draft Taylor, Payne or Kent at this time, but keep an eye on how they do in case they earn regular playing time during the year.
Seahawks counting on Obomanu, Taylor Seahawks counting on Obomanu, Taylor Updated 6/12/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: The Seattle Times reports Seahawks wide receivers Ben Obomanu and Courtney Taylor are taking advantage of extra snaps in practices over the past two weeks to show what they can do and how well they have learned the offense. The Seahawks are down three experienced receivers with the absence of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram and the departure of D.J. Hackett via free agency. If the season started today, Nate Burleson, Obomanu and Taylor would likely be the Seahawks' top receivers even though Obomanu is entering his third season — one of those on the practice squad — and Taylor his second after limited action as a rookie. Analysis: Obomanu, who caught his first 12 career passes for 180 yards and a touchdown last season, is seeing time at all of the receiver spots this offseason, as is Taylor. The versatility to play flanker, split end and slot receiver will bolster the depth at the position for Seattle. Taylor sees all of the receivers holding each other accountable for their performance in practice. That he is a sixth-round draft pick and Obomanu a seventh-rounder gives the Seahawks two largely unknown commodities, at least outside the organization. Consider both sleepers in Fantasy leagues this year. Seattle needs help at receiver, and Obomanu and Taylor will be asked to play a prominent role.
Obomanu scores first touchdown Obomanu scores first touchdown Updated 2/11/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu had been known as a special-teams stalwart before 2007, but that changed. Getting a taste of playing time in the middle of the year thanks to various injuries for the 'Hawks, Obomanu notched 180 yards on 12 catches with a touchdown. Analysis: Obomanu will enter his magical third NFL season in 2008. If he gets the chance to compete for a job this training camp, he's one to watch as a low-end sleeper in all drafts. Think about spending one of your last two picks on him this summer.
Ben Obomanu a 2008 sleeper? Ben Obomanu a 2008 sleeper? Updated 1/16/2008
Ben Obomanu, WR SEA
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu was more than just a special-teams player in his second season, catching 16 passes for 243 yards (15.2 avg.) with a touchdown in 2007. Obomanu was forced into action when injuries hampered the Seattle receiving corps. He caught at least one pass in eight games after missing the first two games of the season with a hamstring tweak. Obomanu will be a third-year receiver and enter into a contract year in 2008, and he might find regular playing time at the start of the season with the club expected to be without WR Deion Branch, who tore his ACL in a January playoff game. Analysis: There's a whole lot of motivation for Obomanu, a former Auburn receiver that started to come into his own in limited playing time last season. If you're fishing for sleepers in the deepest of Fantasy Football leagues, spending a late-round pick on Obomanu might not be such a bad move -- assuming Seattle doesn't add talent to its receiving corps this offseason.
