Porter to tryout for Ravens Porter to tryout for Ravens Updated 5/6/2009
Tab Perry, WR MIA
News: The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are looking at a collection of wide receivers for a tryout. Included in the group are Jerry Porter, Kelley Washington, D.J. Hackett and Tab Perry. Depending on the workouts, the Ravens could sign all or none of the receivers. Porter, 30, had 11 catches for 181 yards and one touchdown last season for the Jaguars. His best season recently came in 2007 with the Oakland Raiders where he had 44 receptions for 705 yards and six touchdowns. Washington, 29, had only one catch for 3 yards last season for the New England Patriots. Hackett, 27, caught 13 passes for 181 yards and no touchdowns last season in his only year with the Carolina Panthers. He averaged 35 catches in three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Perry, 27, didn't play last season for the Dolphins after an Achilles' tendon tear last May sidelined him for the entire season. Analysis: If the Ravens sign any of these players it would improve their Fantasy value since they would be on a current roster. But for now, ignore them all heading into Draft Day. Of this group, we like Porter the best based on his ability when healthy.
Fins waive/release WR Perry Fins waive/release WR Perry Updated 5/29/2008
Tab Perry, WR MIA
News: The Dolphins waived WR Tab Perry after he tore his Achilles' tendon in an offseason workout. Perry was expected to be a situational receiver on offense and a key contributor on special teams. Analysis: Perry can safely be removed from Fantasy rank lists at this point. He's not going to play in 2008.
Dolphins, Perry make it official Dolphins, Perry make it official Updated 3/21/2008
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Miami Dolphins signed three-year veteran WR Tab Perry to a one-year contract Thursday, the team announced. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound Terry spent the first three years of his NFL career with Cincinnati, which made him a sixth-round draft choice in 2005. In three NFL seasons, the 26-year-old Perry has played in 20 games with one start and caught 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. e also has rushed for 22 yards and a TD on six caries. In addition, he has been a solid contributor on the Bengals’ special teams unit, where he has returned 75 kickoffs for a 23.7-yard average with a long of 94, and tallied 20 tackles, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. He was limited to two games and one start in 2007 with a hip injury that kept him on the team's injured reserve list for the final 11 contests. Analysis: Perry will likely play mostly on special teams with some occasional work on offense. Once considered a solid Fantasy sleeper, the oft-injured Perry won't fulfill many hopes anymore. Keep him off Fantasy rosters.
WR/KR Perry signs with Miami WR/KR Perry signs with Miami Updated 3/17/2008
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tab Perry has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins. The deal was confirmed by Perry's agent, Peter Schaffer, on Monday but the Dolphins said they had no announcements. Perry has averaged 23.7 yards on kickoff returns in his three-year career, but he played in only four games the past two seasons because of a hip injury. It appears to be a one-year deal. Analysis: Perry will likely play mostly on special teams with some occasional work on offense. Once considered a solid Fantasy sleeper, the oft-injured Perry won't fulfill many hopes anymore. Keep him off Fantasy rosters.
Bengals release WR Perry Bengals release WR Perry Updated 2/29/2008
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Bengals released fourth-year wide receiver Tab Perry, a restricted free agent, into the open market. Perry's health, primarily a hip injury first suffered in Game 2 of the 2006 season, has limited him to four games in the past two years. Because of Perry's recent injury history, the Bengals don't want to commit even the one-year tender minimum of $927,000 for a restricted free agent. Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Perry and if he signs elsewhere. He would have minimal Fantasy value no matter where he ends up since his main job is on special teams.
Tab Perry does little in 2007 Tab Perry does little in 2007 Updated 1/18/2008
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry only played in two games in 2007 due to a hip injury that forced him on injured reserve. He had one catch for 7 yards and one carry for 9 yards on the season. Perry will be a restricted free agent in the offseason. Analysis: Look for Perry to be fine for 2008. He will likely remain with the Bengals, but he will have minimal Fantasy value next season.
Bengals put Perry on IR, make moves Bengals put Perry on IR, make moves Updated 10/16/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Receiver Tab Perry and safety Ethan Kilmer were placed on injured reserve Tuesday, ending their seasons for the Bengals. The Bengals also signed free agent receiver Courtney Roby to a two-year deal and activated cornerback Johnathan Joseph, who was suspended by the NFL for last Sunday's game in Kansas City. Perry severely injured his hip last season, but felt good in training camp and hoped to take the No. 3 receiver role. Perry played in the first two games, had one catch and returned seven kickoffs before the pain returned in his hip. Kilmer hasn't played all season because of a knee injury. Roby was a third-round draft pick by Tennessee in 1005. He played in 25 games, starting six, during his career with the Titans, which ended when he was waived on Sept. 1. Analysis: None of these players should be involved in Fantasy play, either because they're not productive enough or because they're not playing again this season. The Bengals host the Jets in Week 7.
Bengals list Week 6 inactives Bengals list Week 6 inactives Updated 10/14/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Bengals list of inactives for Week 6 at Kansas City includes LB Rashad Jeanty, DB Ethan Kilmer, WR Tab Perry, LB Ahmad Brooks, LB Caleb Miller, DL Jonathan Fanene and QB Jeff Rowe. Analysis: These players are all either reserves on offense or minor statistical contributors on defense. Keep them on the waiver wire.
WR Perry out for Week 6 WR Perry out for Week 6 Updated 10/10/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry (hip) is out for Week 6 at Kansas City. Perry has not played in the team's last two games and Sunday will make three consecutive games. Analysis: Perry had been filling in as the No. 3 WR for the suspended Chris Henry before getting injured. There is no point holding onto him in seasonal leagues while he works his way back from injury. He is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve when healthy.
Bengals list Week 4 inactives Bengals list Week 4 inactives Updated 10/1/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Bengals' list of Week 4 inactives for Monday night against the Patriots includes LB Rashad Jeanty, DB Ethan Kilmer, WR Tab Perry, LB Ahmad Brooks, LB Caleb Miller and QB Jeff Rowe. Analysis: These players are all either defenders, meaning they don't contribute useful Fantasy statistics, or reserves. Don't start them in any Fantasy format.
Perry to miss second straight week Perry to miss second straight week Updated 9/27/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry (hamstring) is out for Week 4 vs. New England. Perry will have missed the last two games after getting injured Week 2. Analysis: Perry had been filling in as the No. 3 WR for the suspended Chris Henry before getting injured. There is no point holding onto him in seasonal leagues while he works his way back from injury. He is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve when healthy.
Bengals-Seahawks inactives announced Bengals-Seahawks inactives announced Updated 9/23/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Notable inactives from Week 3's Cincinnati-Seattle game include: Bengals LB Ahmad Brooks, QB Jeff Rowe (No. 3/emergency QB), DB Nedu Ndukwe, DB Ethan Kilmer, WR Tab Perry, DL Frostee Rucker and LB Rashad Jeanty. For the Bengals, OT Levi Jones will not start. LBs Lemar Marshall and Caleb Miller will start for the Bengals. The Seahawks' inactives are: DL Jason Babin, LB Kevin Bentley, QB Charlie Frye (No. 3/emergency QB), WR D.J. Hackett, TE Bennie Joppru, RB Maurice Morris and WR Ben Obomanu. Analysis: Perry and Hackett remain sidelined for their respective teams and should be benched in Fantasy play as well. The remainder of the players listed here aren't reliable Fantasy owners.
G. Holt to replace injured WR Perry G. Holt to replace injured WR Perry Updated 9/18/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Bengals WR Tab Perry (hamstring strain) is out for Cincinnati's Week 3 game at Seattle. Glenn Holt will return kickoffs and work significantly on offense. He had five receptions Sunday against the Browns. Analysis: Perry was only filling in the No. 3 WR spot in Cincy until Chris Henry got back from suspension. Now, Glenn Holt assumes that role. Neither have any Fantasy value at this point.
Perry limps out of Week 2 game Perry limps out of Week 2 game Updated 9/16/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry limped out of Cincinnati's Week 2 game at Cleveland with a left hamstring injury he sustained while returning a second-quarter kick off. He was treated on the bench before going to the locker room. He had one catch for seven yards and a rush for nine yards before exiting the contest. Analysis: Perry is the third-string WR for the Bengals, but doesn't get too many looks as studs Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are ahead of him. Perry is nothing more than a No. 5 Fantasy WR and isn't worth considering in any format, especially as he is a constant injury concern.
Perry worth a shot vs. Browns? Perry worth a shot vs. Browns? Updated 9/12/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Chris Henry may not be able to play in the Bengals' Week 2 game at Cleveland, but in two games vs. the Browns last year he got open for 10 catches, 154 yards and two touchdowns. Henry's loss is Tab Perry's gain since he's expected to be the Bengals' No. 3 against the Browns. Analysis: With stud WRs Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh catching the majority of the balls for the Bengals, Perry is left merely with scraps most weeks. However, the Browns are brutal and if you're in dire need of some receiving help, Perry might be a decent sleeper at the No. 3 WR or flex position Week 2 at Cleveland.
Tab Perry returns four kicks Tab Perry returns four kicks Updated 9/11/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry returned four kicks for 93 yards during the Bengals' 27-20 over the Ravens in Week 1. Analysis: Perry should fill in for at least the first eight games as the Bengals third WR with Chris Henry suspended. However, as shown by him not catching a pass in Week 1, Perry is no Henry. His numbers likely won't be as good, so don't consider him in Fantasy play, even with the return yardage.
Perry to work as third receiver Perry to work as third receiver Updated 9/6/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Sports Xchange reports Bengals WR Tab Perry will be the third receiver and return kickoffs Week 1 against the Ravens. Analysis: Perry should fill in for at least the first eight games as the Bengals third WR with Chris Henry suspended. However, Perry is not the same type of receiver as Henry. His numbers likely won't be as good, so Perry is nothing more than a reserve Fantasy WR.
WR Perry totals 19 yards WR Perry totals 19 yards Updated 8/19/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: Bengals WR Tab Perry (hip) was able to play during Saturday's preseason game against the Saints. He had two catches for 19 yards. Analysis: Perry is competing for a backup job with the Bengals and is not worth any Fantasy consideration at this time.
RB Perry sits out on Friday RB Perry sits out on Friday Updated 8/10/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: As expected, Tab Perry (hip) was unable to play in Friday's preseason opener in Detroit. Analysis: Perry is competing for a backup job with the Bengals and is not worth any Fantasy consideration at this time.
Tab Perry OUT for preseason game Tab Perry OUT for preseason game Updated 8/9/2007
Tab Perry, WR CIN
News: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Bengals WR Tab Perry (hip) will sit for the team's first preseason game Thursday at Detroit. Perry insists he's healthy enough to play but the coaches want him to take it easy with his hip. Analysis: Perhaps the Bengals are protecting their young receiver from getting banged up before the regular season, or perhaps they're going to have others audition for the No. 3 WR job. WRs Glenn Holt and Bennie Brazell have been impressive in camp and will see extended playing time. Monitor how Holt and Brazell do, but expect Perry to be the No. 3 wideout and thusly a No. 4/reserve Fantasy wideout ... until Chris Henry comes back in Week 10.
