Titans S Bernard Pollard not 'around' the team during his rehab

(11/14/2014) The Titans have sent out an open invitation for injured safety Bernard Pollard to rejoin team activities. Pollard suffered a season-ending torn Achilles Week 5 vs. Cleveland. According to defensive coordinator Ray Horton, Pollard has not been a presence in meeting room and road trips, per the Tennessean.

"He's still in his (walking) boot, so I'm sure he feels like he can't get around," Horton said. "And then when guys get hurt, you (go from) all the camaraderie and joking, and all of a sudden, you're not in the inner circle anymore. It is tough on an athlete to miss that kind of time."


Titans' Bernard Pollard confident in quick recovery from Achilles injury

(10/22/2014) Titans safety Bernard Pollard was given a 6-8 month timetable for his recovery after undergoing surgery in early October for a ruptured Achilles. Though, Pollard expects a shorter timetable, per The Tennessean.

"Like I've told them, it's not going to take me six-to-eight. It's really not," Pollard said Tuesday. "More like two-to-three (months) … I want to be back. I want to be smart about coming back as well. I throw numbers out there or whatever, but it's going to be quick."

(12/23/2013) Titans defensive back Bernard Pollard, defensive back Alterraun Verner, linebacker Zach Brown and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, who are normally among the team's top defensive performers, contributed little statistically Week 16 at Jacksonville.

Pollard had five tackles, all solo. Verner had three tackles, all solo. Brown had four tackles, all solo. Casey didn't record a single tackle.

Of the four, Pollard is the most consistent tackler, averaging 6.2 in 15 games. The others are dependent on either interceptions or sacks for their production.

Pollard has no fewer than six tackles in any of his five games this season. He's averaging 7.2 per game.


Titans defenders give team effort Week 3

(9/23/2013) The Titans defense shut out the Chargers in the fourth quarter Sunday, allowing the offense to stage a 20-17 comeback win. While the defensive unit played well as a team, there weren't a lot of standout statistical performers for the Titans Week 3.

Safety Michael Griffin had a team-high nine tackles (seven solo). Linebacker Moise Fokou also had seven solo tackles and finished with eight tackles. Safety Bernard Pollard had six tackles (four solo).

Cornerback Alterraun Verner managed four solo tackles, one pass defense and one fumble recovery, while linebacker Zach Brown had his worst game of the season, finishing with one solo tackle.

Defensive tackle Antonio Johnson and linebacker Akeem Ayers each had a a sack. Johnson finished with three tackles (two solo), while Ayers had just the lone tackle.

(9/18/2013) Titans safety Bernard Pollard posted on Twitter Wednesday he was fined $42,000 for his hit on wide receiver Andre Johnson Week 2 at Houston. Johnson left the game with a concussion after Pollard hit him late in the fourth quarter.

After viewing the replay, Pollard had told the newspaper that he did not believe he would or should be fined.
