News: For the second week in a row, Seattle running back Michael Robinson found the end zone, as he caught a touchdown pass during Sunday's NFC Wild Card game at Washington. Robinson caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson in the second quarter to help chip away from a 14-point deficit. He finished with two catches for 23 yards and a touchdown and also ran the ball one time for a 3-yard gain in a 24-14 victory.
Analysis: Robinson continues to be involved out of the backfield as of late for the Seahawks, as he has caught a touchdown pass in each of his last two games. The 29-year-old has come up big in several spots this season, but is still not consistent enough to make any sort impact in Fantasy. Because he is a fullback, Robinson has marginal value in all Playoff Challenge leagues heading into Sunday's matchup at Atlanta.
News: Seattle running back Michael Robinson hauled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Russell Wilson in the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Rams. Robinson scored in the Week 17 regular-season finale to help the Seahawks enter the playoffs on a roll. Robinson was targeted three times in the game by Wilson and he made three grabs for 33 yards.
Analysis: Robinson caught his second touchdown pass of the season in the Week 17 game. He's not a consistent option in the passing or running game for Seattle, but he's come up big in several spots this year. Still, entering the playoffs, Robinson has low-end Fantasy value. That is how he should be viewed heading into next year as well.
News: Seattle running back Robert Turbin only saw one carry in the Week 13 overtime win at Chicago Sunday. Turbin went for 6 yards in the game. He was not targeted in the passing game. Third-string back Michael Robinson rushed once for 4 yards. Robinson added two catches for 17 yards, however, in the passing game.
Analysis: Robinson saw a few of touches in various ways in the Week 13 overtime game. That said, he's still the third-string running back and is usually limited in the passing game as well. Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 14 against Arizona.
News: Seahawks running back Michael Robinson brought in his first touchdown pass of the season in Week 12 against the Dolphins, in a 24-21 loss. Robinson was targeted just once in the passing game, as he scored on a 4-yard reception from Russell Wilson.
Analysis: This was just Robinsons second receiving touchdown of his career, as he has been used more often as a blocker and short-yardage back. This was probably just a one-time cameo in the end zone, so Fantasy owners should continue to ignore the seven-year veteran.
News: Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson carried the ball once for two yards and caught one pass for six yards in Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Lions. Robinson now has 31 total yards on the season.
Analysis: Robinson will get about a carry and a catch every game, but little more. Even if Marshawn Lynch went down with an injury, Robert Turbin would step in as the starter, not Robinson. He can be left on the waiver wire in all but the most ludicrously deep formats.
News: Seahawks RB Michael Robinson made a rare offensive contribution Week 15 at Chicago, catching a short lob from QB Tarvaris Jackson and taking it 2 yards into the end zone for his first touchdown of the season. It was his only catch on the day, and he didn't have a rushing attempt.
Analysis: Robinson has only 13 offensive touches on the season and, prior to Week 15, hadn't scored an offensive touchdown since 2006. Clearly, he's not worth owning in Fantasy.
News: Seattle RB Michael Robinson produced his best game of the season on Thursday night against Philadelphia. He entered Week 13 with just four catches for 31 yards. He surpassed those numbers as he caught all four passes thrown his way for a total of 41 yards.
Analysis: Robinson is the primary fullback for the Seahawks, but managed to get heavily involved in the offense in Week 13. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect that to happen every week. Robinson can be ignored in all leagues moving forward.
News: Seahawks RB Michael Robinson caught one pass for 11 yards in Week 8 against the Bengals.
Analysis: Robinson serves as fullback in Seattle and usually does not see many touches. Continue to ignore him in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told the Seattle Times on Monday that RB Michael Johnson has already been ruled out for Week 2 against the Steelers. Robinson left the game during Week 1 against the 49ers due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Robinson had one carry for 2 yards in Week 1 and is not a huge part of the offense in Seattle. Healthy or not, continue to ignore Robinson in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Seattle RB Michael Robinson tweaked his ankle in the first quarter of Sunday's game in San Francisco. Robinson had one carry for 2 yards before limping of the the field in Week 1. The initial report from the team is that he could miss eight weeks with a high ankle sprain.
Analysis: Robinson is the only fullback on Seattle's roster, so if this injury is serious they will have to make a roster move. In terms of Fantasy value, Robinson didn't have much. Continue to ignore him.
News: The Seahawks have reached an agreement with Michael Robinson, ESPN is reporting. Robinson was Seattle's starting fullback last year and was also one of the team's best special teams players.
Analysis: Robinson isn't expected to touch the ball much and thus isn't a key component for Fantasy owners. Look elsewhere for help.
News: Seattle RB Michael Robinson left the Seahawks' NFC Divisional Playoff game against Chicago and did not return after suffering an apparent rib injury. Robinson took a hit from Bears CB Chris Tillman in the third quarter and stayed on the ground for a few minutes. He walked off the field under his own power and went to the locker room. He had one carry for one yard before leaving.
Analysis: Robinson's injury was another frightening incident in a game that has already seen several players taken off the field. The bruising running back also caught one pass for three yards but hasn't been a focal point in Seattle's offense this season. Heading into the 2011 season, he should not be considered in any Fantasy draft.
News: Seattle RB Michael Robinson led the Seahawks in rushing in the Week 14 blowout loss in San Francisco. Robinson only amassed three carries in the game and still outdid Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett. He rushed three times for 33 yards and had a long run of 17 yards in the game. Robinson was targeted twice in the passing game but failed to come down with a catch.
Analysis: While Robinson was the best running back performer in the Week 14 loss to San Francisco, we don't expect that to continue in Week 15 against Atlanta. The Seahawks will continue to give the bulk of the carries to Forsett and Lynch. Ignore Robinson in all leagues.
News: Seahawks FB Michael Robinson, who has missed five games with a hamstring injury, didnt even appear on the injury report Wednesday, a good indicator that he will be back for the Week 13 game against the Panthers.
Analysis: Robinson does not provide enough stats to matter in Fantasy and should be ignored in all formats, healthy or not.
News: The Seahawks have gone three straight games without an FB, and even though Michael Robinson (hamstring) practiced this week, it's still possible that Seattle will be without a fullback again on Sunday. "We don't know yet," Pete Carroll said. "We'll call it at game time."
Analysis: Robinson does not provide enough stats to matter in Fantasy and should be ignored in all formats, active or not.
News: The Seahawks have played without a fullback for three straight games, but that could likely change this week. Pete Carroll said FB Michael Robinson (hamstring) will return to practice this week and likely play in the Week 12 game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Robinson does not provide enough stats to matter in Fantasy and should be ignored in all formats, healthy or not.
News: Seahawks RB Michael Robinson was inactive for the third straight game in Week 10 against the Cardinals as he continued to deal with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Robinson does not provide enough stats to matter in Fantasy and should be ignored in all formats, healthy or not.
News: Seahawks FB Michael Robinson (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday, but coach Pete Carroll sounded as if Robinson won't play. Robinson is not only Seattle's only FB and a standout on special teams, but he also is their emergency third QB.
Analysis: Robinson, a former quarterback at Penn State, has just four carries for 24 yards this season and five catches for 30 yards. He has minimal Fantasy value with Seattle and should continue to be ignored in Fantasy play.
News: With RB/FB Michael Robinson sitting out practice the entire week, that should mean playing time for Quinton Ganther, who just signed this week. The Seahawks dont use a fullback very often, but Robinsons absence would be felt on special teams.
Analysis: Robinson, a former quarterback at Penn State, had just four carries for 24 yards this season and five catches for 30 yards. He has minimal Fantasy value with Seattle and has none now that he is out of a job. Continue to ignore Robinson in all Fantasy leagues.
News: The Seahawks released RB Michael Robinson, who was signed off the practice squad last week, on Monday. He left Week 7 against the Cardinals with a knee injury and did not return.
Analysis: Robinson, a former quarterback at Penn State, had just four carries for 24 yards this season and five catches for 30 yards. He had minimal Fantasy value while with Seattle and has none now that he is out of a job. Continue to ignore Robinson in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Seahawks RB Michael Robinson left Week 7 against the Cardinals with a knee injury and did not return. He carried the ball one time for 3 yards, had a 7-yard catch and forced a fumble on special teams before leaving the game.
Analysis: Robinson, a former quarterback at Penn State, does not see many carries in the crowded Seattle backfield and poses minimal Fantasy value, even when healthy. Continue to ignore him in all leagues.
News: Seattle RB Michael Robinson did the most of his playing time on Sunday against Denver. He had one carry for 15 yards and one reception for 7 yards in the Seahawks' loss.
Analysis: With a crowded backfield in Seattle, Robinson doesn't look to get many looks anytime soon. He'll likely continue to get some yards here and there, and possibly score, but it won't be enough to make him a Fantasy option. Continue to ignore him in all leagues.
News: Seahawks RB Michael Robinson was a non-factor during Week 1 against the 49ers. He did not get any carries and had just two receptions for 12 yards.
Analysis: The Seahawks are stacked at running back, so unless their backfield is decimated by injuries, Robinson won't see many carries. He might get a catch or two a game depending on the situation, but really doesn't have any Fantasy value at this point. We don't recommend using him during his Week 2 matchup at Denver.
News: Seattle picked up RB Michael Robinson on Sunday and released Owen Schmitt. Robinson was released by the 49ers.
Analysis: Robinson's potential was never reached in San Francisco. He might get some carries for Seattle but doesn't have any Fantasy value at this time.
News: According to several media outlets, the 49ers have cut RB Michael Robinson, FB Brit Miller, CB Karl Paymah and WR Jason Hill. Of those, Robinson is easily the biggest surprise as he's been a standout special teams player over the years. Hill also is a mild surprise since he was a candidate to start as recently as this offseason.
Analysis: Robinson's potential was never reached in San Francisco, nor was Hill's. It wouldn't be a shock if they landed with other teams before the end of the regular season, but neither is worth owning in Fantasy play. That goes for Paymah and Miller, too.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson fumbled on the 49ers first play of the game in Sunday's preseason game against the Colts. Robinson and rookie Anthony Dixon are vying for the backup running back spot behind Frank Gore, after the sudden retirement of second-year back Glen Coffee. Robinson carried the ball five times for 13 yards and a 3-yard score. He was also targeted three times, catching one pass for eight yards.
Analysis: Robinson -- a converted quarterback -- has become a versatile back, but is known for his sloppy play. Granted he did score in Sunday's game, but starting off with a fumble is not a good way to impress the coaches. If Robinson can bounce back and perform better the rest of the preseason, he may be worth a late-round selection or waiver wire pickup. Robinson and Dixon are both insurance policies for Gore owners.
News: Out of the blue, 49ers backup RB Glen Coffee announced that he's quitting football. That means that veteran Michael Robinson will vie with rookie Anthony Dixon and possibly a free-agent signee for the backup spot behind Gore.
Analysis: Dixon is a back we had our eye on after the draft -- he's a physical back with fresh legs who could assist Gore in the rushing workload. Robinson has long been a versatile back, but injuries and sloppy play have littered his career. Whoever ends the preseason as second on the depth chart behind Gore is worth drafting late or picking up off waivers as an insurance policy for those owners who have Gore on their teams.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson caught one pass on Sunday in a Week 16 win over the Lions. Robinson gained 4 yards on the catch.
Analysis: Robinson is not a relevant Fantasy option and should remain out of all lineups Week 17 against the Rams.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson saw one carry during the Week 15 loss to the Eagles. His carry went for minus-1 yards.
Analysis: Robinson never plays enough for the 49ers to warrant Fantasy use. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 against the lowly Lions.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson sustained another stinger during the Monday night win over the Cardinals in Week 14 and left the game. Stingers have been an issue for Robinson on the season. He did not touch the ball offensively.
Analysis: Robinson never plays enough for the 49ers to warrant Fantasy use. Leave him on waivers for Week 15 at Philly.
News: Niners QB Nate Davis, RB Michael Robinson, WR Isaac Bruce, WR Arnaz Battle, DB Nate Clements and DL Ricky Jean-Francois have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 12 game against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Clements is a decent low-end starting LB in deeper IDP leagues when healthy and Bruce has some low-end appeal at the WR position. The rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value.
News: 49ers RB Moran Norris, RB Michael Robinson, RB Glen Coffee, TE Delanie Walker, WR Arnaz Battle, TE Brian Jennings and QB Shaun Hill all dressed for San Francisco's Week 11 loss to Green Bay but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 12 when the 49ers host the Jaguars.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson totaled 8 yards on one carry and one catch vs. Chicago in Week 10.
Analysis: Robinson was the de facto backup for Frank Gore since Glen Coffee was inactive with an injury. Once Coffee comes back, Robinson won't have even a smidge of Fantasy value. Keep him off rosters. The Niners play at the Packers in Week 11.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson practiced in full on Tuesday in preparation for Week 10 against the Bears on Thursday night. Robinson did not practice Monday with a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Robinson has minimal Fantasy value when healthy. Ignore him in all leagues against the Bears.
News: The 49ers did not practice Monday, but they listed the following players on the injury report for Thursday's game against Chicago as did not participate: S Michael Lewis (quadricep), RB Michael Robinson (shoulder), DE Justin Smith (not injury related), LB Takeo Spikes (shoulder) and S Curtis Taylor (shin). They are listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Chicago.
Analysis: Robinson has minimal Fantasy value when healthy. Ignore him in all leagues against the Bears.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson caught a pass and carried the ball once on Sunday in a Week 9 loss to the Titans. His catch went for 4 yards and the run lost a yard.
Analysis: Robinson doesn't usually even get one touch in a game, making him irrelevant in Fantasy play.
News: Niners WR Arnaz Battle, RB Michael Robinson, WR Brandon Jones, QB Shaun Hill and TE Brian Jennings did not record an offensive stat in Week 8 at the Colts.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 9 against the Titans.
News: Niners WR Arnaz Battle, RB Michael Robinson and FB Moran Norris didn't contribute offensive statistics Week 7 at Houston.
Analysis: None of these players ever do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Backup QB Alex Smith was the lone 49ers player not to get in the game Week 4 against the Rams. But he wasn't the only player not to stat. RB Michael Robinson and WR Jason Hill also failed to stat against the Rams.
Analysis: All three of these players are backups for the 49ers and don't regularly get on the stat sheet. They don't help Fantasy owners much, so keep them out of active lineups heading into Week 5 against the Falcons.
News: With RB Frank Gore out injured, 49ers third-string RB Michael Robinson will move up one spot on the depth chart to back up RB Glen Coffee in Week 4 against the Rams. St. Louis is 27th against the run.
Analysis: Robinson has just 83 carries in four NFL seasons, but should definitely see some action on Sunday against the hapless Rams. He's probably not worth starting except in super-deep leagues that use four RBs, however.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson and FB Moran Norris each caught one pass in the team's Week 3 loss at Minnesota. Robinson had 8 yards receiving, Morris had 6.
Analysis: Neither of these players were expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use, nor should they going forward. Keep them off of rosters for now; the 49ers host the Rams in Week 4.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson caught two passes for four yards against the Seahawks in Week 2. He didn't get an offensive touch in Week 1.
Analysis: Robinson is low on the depth chart and likely won't make a signficant Fantasy contribution all season. Leave him on waivers for Week 3 at Minnesota.
News: Niners WR Micheal Spurlock, RB Michael Robinson and QB Alex Smith didn't record offensive statistics in the season opener at Arizona on Sunday.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson had a solid performance on Saturday in a preseason game against the Raiders. He carried the ball 14 times for 97 yards, with a long of 22 yards.
Analysis: Robinson may have turned a few heads with his performance on Saturday but don't expect him to get too many looks in the regular season with the 49ers. He should be ignored on Draft Day.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson is going all-out in team drills Wednesday. His groin injury appears to be history and should be back for Saturday's preseason game at Seattle.
Analysis: Robinson has minimal Fantasy value in seasonal leagues and should not be drafted this season even when healthy.
News: 49ers players who will be sidelined with injury during Friday's preseason game against the Broncos are running back Michael Robinson (groin), cornerback Tarell Brown (toe), linebacker Patrick Willis (ankle) and tight end Delanie Walker (concussion).
Analysis: The most important player for Fantasy purposes is Willis, who is a must-own Fantasy LB in IDP leagues. It seems like a minor injury, so Fantasy owners shouldn't be scared off. The remaining three players are primarily backups and will have minimal Fantasy impact this season.
News: 49ers offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye doused speculation Monday that there could be a battle for the starting fullback spot, explaining that RB Michael Robinson isn't a physical enough lead blocker. He did say Robinson is more versatile than starter Moran Norris.
Analysis: Neither Norris or Robinson will factor much for Fantasy owners this season. Keep an eye on who wins the job to see who's leading the way for Frank Gore, but ignore Norris and Robinson in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The 49ers' addition of third-round pick Glen Coffee from Alabama means that veteran RB Michael Robinson has a battle coming up this summer for playing time and the right to back up Frank Gore this summer. Robinson's numbers dipped in 2009 as he had just 50 rush yards on 19 carries (2.6 avg.) and 202 yards on 17 receptions (11.9 avg.).
Analysis: Robinson isn't expected to be overly productive unless he finds playing time with Frank Gore missing relevant playing time. Once a promising young talent, Robinson isn't worth your worry in Fantasy play. In fact, unless he has a strong preseason, you can lean on Coffee as the insurance policy for Gore instead of Robinson.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson ran the ball only once for two yards Week 16 at St. Louis. He has 48 rushing yards all season.
Analysis: Robinson had only one touch even with starter Frank Gore sidelined by an ankle injury. Obviously, he doesn't play a big enough role on the 49ers offense to contribute in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 17 against the Redskins.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson ran five times for eight yards and caught four passes for 33 yards in a Week 15 loss at Miami.
Analysis: Robinson got more touches than he usually does on Sunday with Frank Gore out, but he still only filled in for starter DeShaun Foster. He has no Fantasy value heading into Week 16 at St. Louis.
News: 49ers RB Frank Gore (sprained ankle) will not be active for the team's Week 15 game at the Dolphins. He was spotted on the field wearing a sweatsuit and talking to Dolphins players nearly two hours before the game. DeShaun Foster will start in his place with Michael Robinson helping Foster shoulder Gore's workload.
Analysis: If you own Gore, bench him and look for another option. Foster should see enough work to produce like a No. 3 Fantasy running back even though he hasn't played well for much of the season. Robinson won't get enough work to warrant Fantasy use, though he could be worth a pickup in deeper leagues in case the Niners enlist in him at the goal line as they have in the past.
News: According to The San Francisco Chronicle, Niners RB Frank Gore remains unlikely to play at Miami in Week 15 as he continued to miss practice with a severe ankle sprain and was still limping in the locker room. DeShaun Foster is still expected to start in his place with Michael Robinson seeing some carries. "I'm just preparing like any other week, making sure I'm ready to go," Foster said Thursday. "I stay in shape. Physically I'm ready to go. Frank's a great back. We have two different styles. He can do everything. I'm preparing to help the offense and carry the load."
Analysis: Robinson would only see minimal work -- maybe some of it at the goal line -- in the game against the Dolphins. He'd be a low-end sleeper for this week if you chose to pick him up off the waiver wire.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson didn't get much playing time when starter Frank Gore left with an ankle injury against the Jets in Week 14. He carried the ball two times for five yards and caught a 13-yard pass. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Robinson has only 12 carries all season, and he clearly ranks behind DeShaun Foster on the depth chart. Even if Gore ends up missing some time, Robinson doesn't figure to make a Fantasy impact. Leave him on waivers except in the deepest of leagues for Week 15 at Miami.
News: In the 49ers' 35-22 loss at the Cowboys in Week 12, RB Michael Robinson caught three passes for 7 yards.
Analysis: Robinson isn't used enough in the 49ers offense to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters until further notice. The Niners play at the Bills in Week 13.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson didn't play a huge role in the running game Week 11 against the Rams, carrying the ball three times for 11 yards. He did contribute significantly in the passing game, though, catching two passes for 54 yards.
Analysis: Robinson plays a clear backup role to Frank Gore and doesn't deserve a roster spot in Fantasy except as a handcuff. The 49ers visit the Cowboys in Week 12.
News: The Cardinals stopped Michael Robinson up the middle from the 2-yard line as the game ended Monday night to preserve a 29-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers Week 10. Shaun Hill's 14-yard pass to Jason Hill moved the ball to the Arizona 1. With the last few seconds ticking off, 49ers running back Frank Gore was pushed by a defensive player as he ran around left end, then stumbled to the ground just outside the 2. After officials reviewed the play to make sure Gore was down by contact, the 49ers handed off to the fullback Robinson, who was stuffed nowhere near the goal line. Robinson finished with three rushes for eight yards.
Analysis: Robinson now has six carries in his last two games after getting just one in his previous seven. Interim coach Mike Singletary is trying to get Robinson on the field a bit more, but until something happens to Gore, Robinson doesn't have much Fantasy value. The 49ers play the Rams Week 11.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson had a season-high five touches Week 8 against the Seahawks, rushing three times for nine yards and catching two passes for 14. He entered the game with four offensive touches all season.
Analysis: Robinson is merely a backup to Frank Gore and doesn't get much playing time with Gore healthy. Leave him on waivers Week 10 at Arizona. The 49ers have a bye in Week 9.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that 49ers RB Michael Robinson has started taking some snaps for the 49ers in the shot-gun formation as the 49ers have started to use their version of the "wildcat" formation. Robinson, the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as a Penn State senior quarterback, has yet to attempt a pass from that formation. He has only handed off. Robinson caught two passes for 26 yards in Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Robinson does not get many touches in the 49ers offense while Frank Gore is healthy. Leave him on the waiver wire in all leagues until further notice. He may see a small increase in numbers with more use, but it won't be worth signing him off the wire.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson did not have any carries in Week 7 at the N.Y. Giants, but he did make two catches for 26 yards.
Analysis: Robinson does not get many touches in the 49ers offense while Frank Gore is healthy. Leave him on the waiver wire in all leagues until further notice.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson touched the ball twice in the Niners loss to the Eagles in Week 6. Robinson rushed once for five yards and caught one pass for 12.
Analysis: Robinson doesn't stat nearly enough to be considered in Fantasy heading into Week 7 against the Giants.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson, FB Zak Keasey, TE Billy Bajema, TE Brian Jennings, WR Jason Hill, QB Shaun Hill and RB DeShaun Foster all dressed for San Francisco's Week 5 loss to the Patriots but did not record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Foster is the only one in this list with any kind of Fantasy value, but his is minimal at best. Continue to ignore them all in Week 6 vs. Philadelphia.
News: The 49ers DST had one interception, one fumble recovery and no sacks Sunday at New Orleans. Allen Rossum had four kickoff returns for 149 yards and Michael Robinson had one kickoff return for 7 yards. Patrick Willis recovered the fumble, and Takeo Spikes had the interception.
Analysis: The 49ers DST is not worth using most weeks and should be reserved in Week 5 against New England.
News: The following 49ers players did not record any offensive statistics in Week 3 vs. Detroit: QB Shaun Hill, TE Billy Bajema, RB Michael Robinson, TE Brian Jennings and WR Jason Hill.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: San Francisco FB Zak Keasey started against the Seahawks in Week 2 but did not record any stats. The following 49ers also played in Sunday's Week 2 game without recording any Fantasy-relevant production: RB Michael Robinson, RB DeShaun Foster, TE Delanie Walker, TE Billy Bajema, TE Brian Jennings and WR Jason Hill. Quarterback Shaun Hill dressed but did not play as the backup to J.T. O'Sullivan.
Analysis: Keasey caught two passes Week 1 and fumbled. That bought him no stats in Week 2. Expect more of that throughout the year. He's not worth starting in Fantasy and neither are the other members of the 49ers who went without stats on Sunday.
News: San Francisco had several players sub into Sunday's Week 1 game against Arizona who did not record a stat. WR Josh Morgan, RB Michael Robinson, TE Delanie Walker and WR Jason Hill all were held without a stat.
Analysis: Morgan is a rookie with upside and he could see increased production as the year goes on. None of the other aforementioned players have any Fantasy relevance at this time.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson (knee) made his preseason debut during the team's finale Friday against the Chargers. He had a team-high 12 carries for 39 yards, his longest run going 17 yards. He also had three catches for 30 yards.
Analysis: Robinson is vying for reps behind starting RB Frank Gore and backup DeShaun Foster. Though we like Robinson's ability, he's probably not going to get much time to display it. As such, keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that 49ers RB Michael Robinson, who had knee surgery earlier this summer, is expected to make his preseason debut in the club's finale vs. San Diego.
Analysis: Robinson is vying for reps behind starting RB Frank Gore and backup DeShaun Foster. Though we like Robinson's ability, he's probably not going to get much time to display it. As such, keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News:The Sports Xchange reports that Giants RB Michael Robinson, out since late July with torn cartilage in his knee, is expected to begin practicing this week and should be 100 percent for the regular-season opener.
Analysis: Robinson is more of a special teams guy than anything and is the third-string RB in San Francisco. Continue to ignore him in all formats.
News: According to the San Francisco official team Web site, 49ers wide receivers Arnaz Battle (hamstring), Ashley Lelie (calf) and Bryant Johnson (hamstring) will not travel with the team to Chicago for Thursday's preseason game against the Bears. Running back Michael Robinson will also be out with a knee injury and safety Lewis Baker with a thigh injury.
Analysis: Battle is jockeying for playing time this summer but has never been anything better than a one-week replacement off the waiver wire. He's not worth a pick in drafts unless it's with a late-round pick in the deepest of drafts. Without question, Lelie is one of the most over-hyped receivers in Fantasy Football. He can run one route fairly well and the rest with some uncertainty. He is not a reliable Fantasy option even though he's entering a contract year with the Niners. Treat Johnson like a middle-end reserve Fantasy WR with potential to be a weekly starter in deeper leagues. Think late-round flier on Johnson. However all three need to get healthy and see some action before they have any value at all. Robinson and Baker don't figure to see enough of the field to be considered viable Fantasy options at their positions.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson underwent arthroscopic surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee Monday and will miss three-to-five weeks. Robinson, the former Penn State quarterback who has played sparingly in two NFL seasons, was injured when he ran into rookie guard Chilo Rachal during the 49ers' first full-contact practice Monday morning. "There's severity in every injury as you know and even in meniscus there's severity, (but) I wouldn't call his severe," coach Mike Nolan said. "I just want to make sure that he's healthy. He'll be back. We'll be in good shape, Michael is in rehab and it will be interesting to see how fast he does come back because everything that Mike does is all-out and usually those guys come back quicker than the others."
Analysis: Robinson has rushed for just 237 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL career, instead playing mostly on special teams and as a kickoff returner. Let him go undrafted this summer and think of him when filling roster spots as the season rolls on. He probably won't post any significant stats this season unless Frank Gore misses playing time.
News: The 49ers announced Sunday that reserve RB Michael Robinson sprained his knee in practice. His status is unknown at this time. Robinson was expected to compete for a spot along the RB depth chart behind starter Frank Gore, and was expected to see a few reps each week.
Analysis: Figure him to be worth a selection in the deepest of drafts (20-plus rounds) this summer with a late-round pick and a potential waiver-wire addition during the season in all leagues if he's healthy. We'll bring you the latest on the versatile runner out of Penn State.
News: The Sacramento Bee reports that 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz will utilize third-year RB Michael Robinson in 2008, including in a package with starter Frank Gore. "One can block for the other, or (we can) use them both as receivers," Martz said. "There's all kinds of things that can happen out of that."
Analysis: Robinson's versatility has long been an appealing factor to us, and it looks like Martz will take advantage. But with DeShaun Foster also on the Niners' roster and also expected to see some playing time, it's tough to use a draft pick on Robinson. Figure him to be worth a selection in the deepest of drafts (20-plus rounds) this summer with a late-round pick and a potential waiver-wire addition during the season in all leagues.
News: Making one start in 16 games in 2007, 49ers RB Michael Robinson had 121 yards on 26 carries (4.7 avg.) and 73 yards on 11 catches. He did not score in '07.
Analysis: Robinson is one of our favorite reserve players because he's such a good athlete, but chances are he'll still compete for a backup RB job behind Frank Gore this summer. At best, he's a late-round flier in deeper leagues, particularly if you drafted Gore with a top-15 pick.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson caught one pass for three yards during a Week 15 win against the Bengals. He failed to record a rush for the sixth time this season and fourth time in six games.
Analysis: Robinson splits backup duties to Frank Gore with Maurice Hicks and won't see many reps until Gore is out with an injury. Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option heading into Week 16 against the Bucs.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson carried one time for one yard during a Week 14 loss to the Vikings. He also had one catch for four yards. Robinson doesn't have more than one carry in any of his last five games.
Analysis: Robinson splits backup duties to Frank Gore with Maurice Hicks and won't see many reps until Gore is out with an injury. Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option heading into Week 15 against the Bengals.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson recorded one carry for four yards during a Week 12 win against the Cardinals. He also had one catch for eight yards. Robinson did not have a carry in the previous two games.
Analysis: Robinson splits backup duties to Frank Gore with Maurice Hicks and won't see many reps until Gore is out with an injury. Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option heading into Week 13 against the Panthers.
News: Niners RB Michael Robinson, WR Bryan Gilmore, TE Billy Bajema, TE Brian Jennings, FB Zak Keasey and QB Trent Dilfer didn't record statistics Week 10 at Seattle.
Analysis: Robinson would have some Fantasy value if Frank Gore misses a start, but he'd still only play a reserve role behind Maurice Hicks. None of these other players ever deserves Fantasy consideration. The 49ers host the Rams in Week 11.
News: If Frank Gore (ankle) is unable to play in Week 10 at Seattle, Michael Robinson and Maurice Hicks will play in his place, with Robinson expected to start. Robinson out-rushed Hicks at Atlanta in Week 9 but Hicks scored a touchdown. The Seahawks run defense ranks 13th in the league but allowed four rushing touchdowns -- all goal-line bursts -- to Jamal Lewis last week at Cleveland.
Analysis: Robinson is a fair backup and potential No. 3 Fantasy RB if he starts in Gore's place in Week 10. We'll know his status an hour before kickoff on Monday night.
News: Playing in place of the injured Frank Gore, Michael Robinson gained 67 rushing yards on 17 carries in Week 9 at Atlanta. He also made two catches for two yards.
Analysis: Robinson and Maurice Hicks split the rushing duties, but Robinson saw 10 more carries. Hicks scored the only rushing touchdown. In Week 10, we expect Gore to be ready to play against the Seahawks on Monday night at Seattle. Robinson and Hicks will once again be very low-end Fantasy reserves. We don't recommend using either.
News: NFL.com reports that if 49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) can't play Week 9 at Atlanta, Maurice Hicks and Michael Robinson would combine to replace him. Right now, the team considers Gore a game time decision.
Analysis: Hicks would see more carries than Robinson, which makes him the better Fantasy option of the two. Really though, the 49ers have such a miserable offense that only the most desperate of Fantasy owners would consider taking this bait. As much as Gore has struggled in an exclusive role, do you really think Hicks or Robinson will thrive in a split role? Unless you desperately need an RB, disregard this news (as it regards to Hicks and Robinson, anyway) and leave the two fill-ins on the waiver wire.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson caught three passes for 43 yards and ran twice for six yards in San Francisco's 31-10 loss to the Saints in Week 8.
Analysis: Robinson split carries with Maurice Hicks in Week 8, but his presence in the receiving game might give him an edge in the race to fill in for Frank Gore when injured. Still, we wouldn't recommend picking up either Hicks or Robinson with the 49ers struggling as they are for Week 9 against the Saints.
News: According to the San Jose Mercury News, the 49ers will make a final decision on whether to play RB Frank Gore (ankle) Week 8 against the Saints come Sunday morning. Gore, who is listed as probable on the injury report, went through limited practice reps for the second straight session Friday. He hasn't practiced much since injuring his right ankle Week 7 against the Giants. Head coach Mike Nolan hopes the limited work during the week will increase Gore's chances of facing the Saints. "We're just trying to take it easy with him by keeping it light during the week," Nolan said. "We'll see how it is on Sunday."
Analysis: Backup RBs Michael Robinson and Maurice Hicks spent most of the week practicing with the first-team offense. However, neither player has seen much action this season. Robinson has just five carries for 43 yards and Hicks has five carries for 13 yards. Robinson would likely see most of the reps, if Gore is inactive. But the star running back seems confident he will play against the Saints. Follow the situation up until inactives. If Robinson or Hicks play, they will be nothing more than stopgap Fantasy options.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson made two catches for 13 yards in Week 7 at the N.Y. Giants. He rushed once for a gain of four yards.
Analysis: Robinson has very minimal Fantasy appeal as a lightly-used backup. Don't worry about using him in any league for Week 8.
News: 49ers RB Moran Norris (two catches for 19 yards), WR Darrell Jackson (two catches for six yards), WR Brian Gilmore (one catch for 42 yards) and RB Michael Robinson (one catch for zero yards) helped out in the passing game in San Fran's 9-7 loss to the Ravens in Week 5.
Analysis: Jackson is the only player in this group with any Fantasy value, and his is minimal with Trent Dilfer at QB. The 49ers have a bye week in Week 6, but all these guys should remain on the bench for Week 7 and beyond anyway.
News: 49ers RBs Maurice Hicks (two rushes for two yards and one catch for eight yards) and RB Michael Robinson (one rush for 28 yards) made small contributions in San Francisco's 23-3 loss to the Seahawks in Week 4.
Analysis: Neither Hicks or Robinson has much value Fantasy-wise at this point. Leave them alone for Week 5 when the 49ers host the Ravens.
News: Notable 49ers players from Week 3 at Pittsburgh include: WR Arnaz Battle (8 rush yards, 27 receiving yards), RB Michael Robinson (8 rush yards), FB Zak Keasey (4 rush yards) and TE Delanie Walker (19 receiving yards).
Analysis: Of these players, only Battle is worth a reserve spot, although Robinson is a decent insurance policy for those owners who have Frank Gore. The Niners play vs. Seattle in Week 4.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson had one carry for 3 yards Sunday against the Rams.
Analysis: Robinson has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 3 against the Steelers.
News: TE Billy Bajema, WR Taylor Jacobs, TE Brian Jennings, WR Ashley Lelie, RB Michael Robinson, WR Delanie Walker and WR Brandon Williams all dressed for Week 1 against the Cardinals, but they did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are recommended Fantasy options heading into Week 2 at St. Louis.
News: 49ers second-year RB Michael Robinson said he ran hard last year, but he didn't always run smart. He was so intent on hitting the hole that sometimes he failed to make the adjustments to hit a crease that could have yielded more yards. In hopes of improving his running, Robinson spent the summer watching film of teammate Frank Gore, reports The Sports Xchange. "Frank is so good," Robinson said. "He's quick but he doesn't hurry. He's a great guy to learn from because he is so patient. If you hit the hole so fast you might not see another hole. Frank is so good at finding the hole."
Analysis: Robinson is a good insurance policy for Gore owners since he's coming off a broken hand. He should be considered a late-round selection in most drafts.
News: Maurice Hicks and Michael Robinson both looked good in limited action in Monday's preseason game against the Broncos in their battle to be Frank Gore's backup. Hicks rushed for 30 yards and Robinson added 25. Gore, the 2006 NFC rushing leader, will sit out at least the 49ers' first three exhibitions with a broken hand.
Analysis: The Niners love what they have in Robinson -- an athletic and fast player that can be used in a bunch of different ways. Consider him as a cheap keeper in dynasty leagues, and as a late-round flier in seasonal Fantasy formats, especially if you wind up with Frank Gore on your team.
News: Two years into Michael Robinson's transformation from a star college quarterback to an NFL running back, the former Penn State star still can't shake a few old habits. For instance, most second-year backup ball carriers don't want to know every player's role on every offensive play. Remembering a running back's responsibilities is hard enough - but Robinson has a thirst for encyclopedic knowledge during the San Francisco 49ers' team meetings. "He wants to see the big picture," 49ers coach Mike Nolan said. "Even on some passing plays, Michael keeps himself in tune with what the routes are. ... Michael still could be our third quarterback if something happens by injury. Things like that happen."
Analysis: Though he played several positions at Penn State, Robinson acknowledges he still thinks like a quarterback sometimes. That's no surprise, given his high-profile success when he finally became a full-time signal-caller during the school's Orange Bowl-winning season in 2005. But more than a year after he happily agreed to the 49ers' plan to turn him into a full-time running back, Robinson is getting the hang of his new job -- just in time to make a strong push to be Pro Bowl star Frank Gore's backup. With Gore sitting out the 49ers' first three preseason games with a broken hand, Robinson and Maurice Hicks will get most of the playing time in San Francisco's exhibition opener against Denver on Monday night. The Niners love what they have in Robinson -- an athletic and fast player that can be used in a bunch of different ways. Consider him as a cheap keeper in dynasty leagues, and as a late-round flier in seasonal formats, especially if you wind up with Gore on your team.
News: 49ers rookie RB Michael Robinson, a former collegiate quarterback, got into every game as a rookie, rushing 38 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns with nine catches for 47 yards, one pass attempted and four kickoff returns. Robinson's touchdowns came when he was the goal-line back for the 49ers in Week 3 while starter Frank Gore was suffering through a fumbling spell.
Analysis: The Niners love what they have in Robinson -- an athletic and fast player that can be used in a bunch of different ways. Consider him as a cheap keeper in dynasty leagues, and as a late-round flier in seasonal formats, especially if you wind up with Frank Gore on your team.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson caught two passes for 19 yards in Week 17 at Denver.
Analysis: Robinson's value is limited to larger keeper leagues at this time. He'll be a decent sleeper pick in 2007 Fantasy drafts for his quality upside.
News: Michael Robinson was able to play in Week 16 against the Cardinals, but he did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option in Week 17 against the Broncos. He remains useful only in keeper formats at this point.
News: Rookie Michael Robinson had one carry for 33 yards on a fake punt in Week 15 at Seattle.
Analysis: Robinson is not worth using in any Fantasy leagues for when the 49ers host the Cardinals in Week 16.
News: Notable 49ers players from Week 14 include: RB Maurice Hicks (3 rush yards), WR Antonio Bryant (39-yard catch), TE Delanie Walker (30 receiving yards), WR Arnaz Battle (11-yard catch), WR Taylor Jacobs (5-yard catch) and RB Michael Robinson (4-yard catch).
Analysis: Bryant and Battle are low-end options in deeper leagues at receiver. Everyone else shouldn't be on a Fantasy roster except for Robinson -- in keeper leagues. The Niners play at Seattle in Week 15.
News: Niners backup QB Trent Dilfer, TE Delanie Walker, WR Brandon Williams, RB Michael Robinson, FB Moran Norris, TE Billy Bajema, TE/LS Brian Jennings and WR Taylor Jacobs did not record any stats in Week 14 at New Orleans.
Analysis: None of these players should be trusted in Fantasy play until further notice.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson had two carries for six yards in a Week 12 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Robinson is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 13 at New Orleans.
News: Notable 49ers performers from Week 10 include: RB Maurice Hicks (20 rush yards, 18 receiving yards), RB Michael Robinson (4 rush yards) and TE Eric Johnson (7 receiving yards).
Analysis: None of these players should be used in Fantasy play.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson rushed for three yards on three carries in a 9-3 win over the Vikings in Week 9. He also had one reception for five yards.
Analysis: Robinson won't get many stats unless starter Frank Gore goes down with an injury. Most of his touches come when the 49ers are in the red zone and Robinson makes for a good reserve option behind Gore in Fantasy leagues; otherwise, he's worth owning as a reserve option in deeper formats.
News: 49ers TE Eric Johnson had three catches for 40 yards and RB Michael Robinson totaled 3 yards (minus-4 rushing, 7 receiving) at Chicago in Week 8.
Analysis: Robinson is good Fantasy insurance for Frank Gore, and Johnson is a very low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE about to lose his job back to rookie Vernon Davis. Neither are worth owning in standard Fantasy play. The 49ers play vs. Minnesota in Week 9.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson rushed the ball 12 times for 21 yards in Week 5 against the Raiders. The 49ers won 34-20.
News: RB Michael Robinson rushed for 13 yards on four carries in Week 4, but the 49ers lost horribly to the Chiefs 41-0.
Analysis: Robinson won't get many stats unless starter Frank Gore goes down with an injury. Robinson makes for a good reserve option behind Gore in Fantasy leagues; otherwise, he's worth owning as a reserve option in deeper formats.
News: The San Jose Mercury News reports that 49ers rookie RB Michael Robinson -- a QB at Penn State -- is excited for however many carries he gets at Kansas City in Week 4. He's expected to handle all of the short-yardage duty, including at the goal line, as well as give breathers to Frank Gore when necessary. Teammates not only love his versatility but also his mindset. "He has great poise, great presence. He sees the game through quarterback's eyes, which is an incredible tool for him," 49ers backup quarterback Trent Dilfer said.
Analysis: Dilfer brings up a good point -- how many NFL running backs can look at the field and find openings like a quarterback? If Gore is ruled out, consider putting Robinson in his place in your lineup for Week 4, but don't hang your hat on that since Gore has practiced all week and should start. Robinson makes for a good reserve option behind Gore in Fantasy leagues; otherwise, he's worth owning as a reserve option in deeper formats.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson (shoulder) is probable for Week 4 at Kansas City.
Analysis: Robinson has provided some goal-line value to the 49ers offense and works as an adequate backup for when Frank Gore needs a breather. But his Fantasy value is limited in that capacity. Gore is nursing sore ribs, but both players practiced Wednesday despite being listed on the injury report. If Gore is ruled out, consider putting Robinson in his place in your lineup for Week 4, if you don't have a better replacement.
News: The San Jose Mercury News reports that 49ers coach Mike Nolan is considering giving goal line carries to rookie RB Michael Robinson instead of starter Frank Gore. Gore has fumbled the ball away at the goal line in each of the team's last two games and had three fumbles on the season. "In the field of play, Frank is a very secure ball carrier -- at least he has been," Nolan said. "Down on the goal line both times, he was hit and turned around and they punched the ball out. That's correctable, but it also lends its way to giving another back an opportunity on the goal line and in short yardage to carry that ball. ... When you've got to get the tough yard, Michael Robinson is a bigger back. He could take some of the hits off Frank."
Analysis: The Niners have been successful running the ball this season, which lends itself to Robinson being more reliable than your typical goal-line RB. Robinson scored twice in Week 3 filling in for Gore, who left the game with an injury. The former Penn State QB has been very impressive as a versatile running back and receiver out of the backfield at the NFL level. He has become solid insurance for Gore and is worth owning in all dynasty leagues and deeper seasonal formats.
News: 49ers rookie RB Michael Robinson had five carries for 29 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. He also had two catches for 3 yards. Robinson came in for the injured Frank Gore (abdominal) and played well.
Analysis: Robinson could have a lot of value if Gore's injury is serious. Monitor Gore's situation throughout the week to see if Robinson will play or not in Week 5 against Kansas City. Gore owners should pick up Robinson immediately.
News: San Francisco RB Michael Robinson did not record an offensive stat in Week 2 vs. St. Louis.
Analysis: Robinson is not a viable Fantasy option at this point. Ignore him in all leagues.
News: 49ers RB Michael Robinson, former Penn State QB, had one carry for minus-two yards in the Niners' 34-27 Week 1 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Robinson has little Fantasy value at this point. There is no need to play him Week 2 vs. St. Louis. He had one reception for nine yards.
News: Michael Robinson ran for two touchdowns in the second quarter to help the San Francisco 49ers end the preseason with a 23-14 victory Friday night over San Diego. With starter Frank Gore getting a rest to avoid possible injury, Robinson got his most extensive action of the preseason and delivered on the opportunity. He carried 12 times for 59 yards, scoring on runs of 1 and 13 yards in the second quarter. "Early on in minicamp he was getting a lot of runs for us," coach Mike Nolan said. "He showed a lot early. We kept putting him in there. Having played quarterback I think he has a better understanding of the offense than a lot other guys have."
Analysis: Robinson might get some occasional carries in 2006, but he is more of a long-term keeper option at the moment. Just keep his name in memory for now in seasonal leagues.
News: Robinson carried three times for nine yards in Sunday's preseason game at Oakland. He also had three receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Robinson look to be a lot more motivated than recently promoted Maurice Hicks, who had three carries for just a yard. Everyone scooted up a peg following the trade of Kevan Barlow to the Jets over the weekend. Robinson might get some occasional carries in 2006. Keeper-league owners may want to spend a late-round choice on him in 2006 drafts. As for rookie-only Fantasy draftees, Robinson is worth taking with a middle-round choice.
News: The Jets acquired running back Kevan Barlow from the 49ers on Sunday for an undisclosed draft pick in 2007, their second attempt in a week to shore up the position. The deal is contingent on Barlow passing a physical. The 6-foot-1, 234-pound Barlow has 3,614 yards and 24 touchdowns in his career. "This is a great opportunity for Kevan because of New York's need at running back," 49ers coach Mike Nolan said. "Kevan has been committed to our program and done well. With the depth at running back we felt we could make this move."
Analysis: Robinson will sit behind Barlow and Maurice Hicks on the 49ers depth chart, but he could see some carries in 2006. Use those touches to see what kind of NFL player he'll be. Keeper-league owners may want to spend a late-round choice on him in 2006 drafts. As for rookie-only draftees, Robinson is worth taking with a middle-round choice.
News: Michael Robinson, the former Penn State quarterback hoping to make the NFL as a running back, signed with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers' fourth-round draft pick, Robinson was a quarterback, receiver, halfback and punt returner during four years with the Nittany Lions. The Big Ten's offensive player of the year last season will start training camp Friday as a running back, but could play several positions for the 49ers.
Analysis: Robinson will begin camp competing for a spot along the Niners' RB depth chart and could work prominently on special teams. However, there is some serious potential for Robinson in the NFL since he can do so much thanks to his athleticism. It will take time, though, so don't count on him for much in 2006. Keeper-league owners may want to spend a late-round choice on him, thought. As for rookie-only draftees, Robinson is worth taking with a middle-round choice.
