Giants' Landon Collins not worried about replacing Antrel Rolle

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/2/2015) The Giants made safety Landon Collins their pick in the second round of the draft, trading up to get him. That likely means that the Alabama product will get the chance to replace Antrel Rolle, who signed with Chicago as a free agent.

Collins thinks he's up to the challenge.

"Starting at Dutchtown [high school], I came in right after Eric Reid," Collins said, per NJ.com. "Then going to Alabama I came in after Mark Barron, Ha Ha Clinton Dix, and Vinnie Sunseri, plenty of big shoes to fill. Stepping into Antrel Rolle's shoes, I'm gonna definitely fill those too and keep it on going."

Antrel Rolle: 'I'm always gonna be a Giant at heart'

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/6/2015) Although safety Antrel Rolle is expected to test free agency, even if he doesn't re-sign with the Giants, he still views the organization as "family." Rolle has spent the last five years with New York, which included a Super Bowl win in 2011.

"Whether I'm with the Giants, whether I'm not with the Giants, I'm always gonna be a Giant at heart," Rolle said during a radio interview Thursday, per NJ.com. "I've loved my time here, I've never had a place that I would even want to call my second home away from home. The Giants definitely won that crown of being my second home away from home."

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/5/2015) During an interview with ESPN Radio, Giants safety Antrel Rolle said he is heading toward free agency, reports the New York Daily News.

Negotiations between Rolle and the Giants have not gone well, but Rolle did not rule out re-signing with the Giants. If no deal can be worked out, Rolle will become a free agent March 10.

"This is strictly a business move," Rolle said. "If there's 32 teams interested, I'm going to listen to all 32 teams."

Report: Giants talks with Antrel Rolle not productive

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) It doesn't look like safety Antrel Rolle will be with the Giants next season.

According to the New York Daily News, contract negotiations between the two parties haven't gone well. Rolle doesn't want to come back for much less than the $7 million he earned for each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

It's also possible that Rolle winds up with the Dolphins, the report states.

Rolle recorded 87 tackles and three interceptions in 2014.

Giants' Coughlin wants Antre Rolle back at right price

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/19/2015) Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that the team would like to retain free-agent safety Antrel Rolle depending on his asking price, NJ.com reports.

"We'd like him to come back," Coughlin said, adding, "obviously we do have financial restrictions involved."

Rolle struggled last season in the final year of his five-year deal after being named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, but Coughlin indicated that the safety brings more value that just his work on the field.

"He's an outstanding young man and really I've never come across a player that was more interested in his team and trying to help his team be better in any way they could," Coughlin said. "I think countless Tuesday's Antrel was in my office with, 'How can we get better? What can we do to get better?' Just thoughts going back and forth between coach/player, in terms of how our team could improve. I don't think I was ever involved with a player that was more sincerely interested in how his team could improve. And I admire that very much in him as a young man and a leader."

The team will likely prioritize the safety position this offseason, with Rolle joining veterans Stevie Brown and Quintin Demps as free agents.

Will Hill wants Antrel Rolle to join Ravens

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(2/12/2015) Ravens safety Will Hill is hoping for a former teammate to join his squad once NFL free agency begins.

On his Instagram account, Hill posted a collage with four pictures of himself and cornerback Antrel Rolle when they were with the Giants. In the middle is a rectangular box with the Ravens logo in the middle.

"if thing go the way I want me and big bro will be reunited," Hill wrote.

Rolle, 32, didn't have a strong 2014 season and thus may not be an attractive option for the Ravens. Rolle finished the past season with 87 tackles and three interceptions.

S Antrel Rolle wants to return to Giants

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(2/11/2015) Impending free agent safety Antrel Rolle, who's started every game the last five seasons for the Giants, is eager to return to the team in 2015.

“I want to go back to the Giants for the fact I feel like I still have work to do,” Rolle told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "No matter how good or bad the season may have been for myself, you know, we’ve got one championship and I feel like that’s not enough. I feel like there’s more, obviously there’s more in the tank and more I need to provide as far as my services with that organization to try and help them win another title.

“I don’t like to leave anything undone and I feel like my time there is undone for whatever reason. I don’t know why I feel that way but it’s just the way I feel. If, God forbid, it doesn’t happen, then obviously I’m a man. I know that this league is a business and I don’t try to take anything personal. That for me, right now, that’s what my mindset is.”

Rolle, 32, had 87 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble last season.

Rolle has 'confidence' in Giants, but questions effort after loss

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/4/2014) Giants safety Antrel Rolle did not hold back following Monday's 40-24 loss against the Colts, which was the team's third straight loss and dropped New York to 3-5. Rolle questioned the effort of his teammates following the defeat.

"We're so inconsistent. We're so up and down," he said, per the New York Daily News. "You don’t know what you're going to get on Sunday -- the good Giants, the bad Giants, the flat Giants, the Giants that play with energy. You never know what you’re going to get.

"I always hope for the best for this team. I have a lot of confidence in this team and the talent that we have. But you can keep saying something as much as you want. At the end of the day it’s about results, and the results are not good.

"Whether I believe or not -- if we go 0-16, I'm always going to believe until the day I leave this game. But we've got to believe in ourselves as an entire unit, and right now, I don’t know if that’s happening."

Safety Antrel Rolle intercepted Freeman, and defensive end Justin Tuck sacked him. While that was the Giants' only sack, they hit Freeman 13 times. Minnesota's offense did not score.
