News: Dallas linebacker Ernie Sims left in the first quarter of Week 16 against New Orleans with an apparent concussion. Sims, who also dealt with a concussion last week, received a concussion test on the sideline and his return is questionable. He tallied two tackles before departing.
Analysis: Sims was active for the game despite being listed as questionable on the injury report, but the Cowboys were certainly exercise caution with the veteran linebacker who turned 28 on Sunday. He has displayed signs of heating up, but is still viewed as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims sustained a concussion in the first half of the Week 15 game against Pittsburgh Sunday. Sims couldn't return to the eventual overtime win for Dallas. He had not recorded a tackle prior to leaving injured.
Analysis: Sims obviously failed the in-game concussion test as he never came back into the ballgame. He'll be re-evaluated and is certainly going to at least be on the injury report all week leading up to Week 16 against New Orleans. Sims was just getting on a roll after having 10 tackles last week at Cincinnati, including his first sack. Unfortunately, he's not going to be a viable Fantasy IDP option for Week 16.
News: The Cowboys signed linebacker Ernie Sims Wednesday.
Analysis: Sims will be just linebacker depth for Dallas after the team lost Sean Lee for the season. Leave Sims on Fantasy waivers until further notice.
News: Colts LB Ernie Sims stepped into the starting lineup Week 15 against the Titans after LB Philip Wheeler was ruled out with a foot injury. Sims didn't waste his spot start. He led the team with eight solo tackles and 15 tackles total.
Analysis: Sims hasn't played this well since he began his career with three straight 100-tackle seasons with the Lions from 2006-08. Unfortunately, Sims is headed back to the bench as soon as Wheeler is healthy. Consider Sims a stopgap Fantasy LB if Wheeler is out again Week 16.
News: Indianapolis LB Ernie Sims registered a season-high eight tackles during the Colts' 31-24 loss at New England in Week 13. Sims, who has been slowed by a knee injury earlier this season, matched his tackle output from his previous three games combined.
Analysis: Sims has been a bit of a disappointment during his first season with Indianapolis and has just 31 total tackles this year. He has not performed like the same player who posted 100-plus tackles in his first three NFL seasons and should be left unowned in most Fantasy IDP formats.
News: Indianapolis LB Ernie Sims is active for Week 5 against Kansas City after overcoming a knee injury. Sims hasn't played since the Colts' season opener, but was a full participant in practice Friday after being limited the previous two days.
Analysis: Sims' return comes at a favorable time as the Chiefs have scored 20 points just once in four games this season. The 26-year-old should be viewed as a marginal option in IDP Fantasy formats while he works his way back into game shape.
News: Colts LB Ernie Sims hasn't played in a game since injuring his knee in the second quarter of the Colts' season-opening loss to Houston, but he may be ready to return Week 5 against the Chiefs. "I'm as ready as I can ever be," he said. "I'm definitely biting at the bit, ready to get back to it."
Analysis: The Colts have gotten steady play out of their linebackers with Sims sidelined, so he might need a rash of injuries to get a chance to play on a regular basis. Sims is not a recommended Fantasy option until further notice.
News: Colts LB Ernie Sims (knee) was listed among the inactives for Week 2 against Cleveland. He had been ruled out on the injury report.
Analysis: Sims registered 55 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble last season for the Colts. He's not one of the team's top tackle producers and is just a low-end Fantasy option in IDP leagues, when healthy.
News: Indianapolis LB Ernie Sims left the Week 1 game in Houston with a knee sprain after a Pat McAfee punt midway in the second quarter. He did not return to the contest and finished with one tackle. The Colts also saw an injury to Gary Brackett in the game.

News: Colts linebacker Ernie Sims, in his first game action since having an appendectomy Aug. 7, finished second on the team in tackles Friday against the Packers. He notched eight stops on the night while playing on the outside for the majority of three quarters.
Analysis: Sims has the chance to make a big impact on the Colts this season with Clint Session in Jacksonville, and his health was the first step towards that. His play-making ability makes him worth a look as a reserve LB on Draft Day, so keep him on the IDP radar for now.
News: Indianapolis Colts linebacker Ernie Sims had an appendectomy on Sunday, according to the Indianapolis Star. Colts coach Jim Caldwell says he is expected to miss two weeks.
Analysis: When healthy, Sims will provide the Colts with much-needed depth after the team lost Clint Session to the Jags. Sims' production has slipped the last few seasons, but if he stays healthy, then he might be a player in Indy. For now, Sims is nothing more than a reserve Fantasy LB on Draft Day.
News: LB Ernie Sims signed Tuesday with the Colts. Sims was a first-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2006. He was the ninth overall pick.
Analysis: Sims will provide the Colts with much-needed depth after the team lost Clint Session to the Jags. Sims' production has slipped the last few seasons, but if he stays healthy, then he might be a player in Indy. For now, Sims is nothing more than a reserve Fantasy LB on Draft Day.
News: Philadelphia linebacker Ernie Sims, who was slowed last week after hurting his ankle in Week 10, finished with a team-high five tackles in the Eagles' loss at Chicago in Week 12 on Sunday.
Analysis: With just two sacks, Sims possesses little Fantasy value and he struggled in his last two games before Sunday (three total tackles). In IDP leagues, the Eagles linebacker is best used as a reserve.
News: Philadelphia linebacker Ernie Sims is active for the team's Week 12 game against Chicago on Sunday. Sims was limited in Week 11 against the Giants (two total tackles) after hurting his ankle in the Eagles' Week 10 victory over Washington.
Analysis: With 37 tackles and two sacks this season, Sims possesses little Fantasy value and has struggled in his last two games (three total tackles). In IDP leagues, the Eagles linebacker is best used as a reserve.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims left Week 10 against the Redskins with an ankle injury. Sims was taken to the locker room for X-rays and did not return.
Analysis: Sims had just one assisted tackle prior to leaving with the injury and with the score being so lopsided there has no reason for him to return. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status heading into Week 11 against the Cowboys.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims is looking forward to the Week 10 rematch with Donovan McNabb and the Redskins. "We plan on putting a lot of pressure on him," Sims said. "I'm pretty sure our front seven is licking our chops to get at him. I'm definitely hoping I can get me a good lick on McNabb."
Analysis: Sims has 34 tackles on the year for the Eagles as he hasn't been as big a factor as they would like. Despite a good outing in Week 9 (six tackles, sack), Sims is just a low-end LB in all Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: LB Ernie Sims recorded his second sack of the season in Week 9 as the Eagles beat the Colts, 26-24. He finished with six tackles.
Analysis: Sims has 34 tackles on the year for the Eagles as he hasn't been as big a factor as they would like. Despite a good outing, Sims is just a low-end LB in all Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said after his Week 7 loss at Tennessee that LB Ernie Sims suffered a back strain. He finished the game with six tackles, including one for a loss. He was also credited with a pass defensed.
Analysis: Sims actually had one of his most productive games of the season prior to getting hurt. He remains a low-end option in IDP leagues, best used as a reserve.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims forced and recovered separate fumbles from RB Frank Gore in the Week 5 win over the 49ers. He also added three solo tackles on the day.
Analysis: Sims got his first sack last week, and now he is a part of two turnovers for the Eagles. He should be claimed off of waivers if not already in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims recorded his first sack of the year in Week 4 against the Redskins. He brought down QB Donovan McNabb in the 17-12 loss and totaled six tackles on the day.
Analysis: Sims had a couple of slow games to start the year but broke out of his funk on Sunday. He has 17 tackles on the year with one pass defended and can start garnering attention in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims left the game against the Jaguars in Week 3 with a left ankle injury. He was taken for an X-ray after recording two tackles in the game but the results came back negative. Coach Andy Reid said Sims suffered an ankle sprain.
Analysis: Sims was all over the field on Sunday and wreaked havoc on Jacksonville. He put plenty of pressure on QB David Garrard before being forced from the game with an injury. It is not yet known if he will miss any time with the injury so Fantasy owners should stayed tuned for the the latest updates. Sims has 11 tackles through his first three games and is a low-end option in IDP Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims recorded five tackles -- one for a loss -- in Sunday's loss against the Packers. Sims impressed coach Andy Reid during the preseason, and said the five-year veteran is always around the ball.
Analysis: Sims had just 49 tackles last season for the Lions, but should see that number increase in Philadelphia. He missed five games due to an injury in 2009, and the Eagles hope they don't lose him for any games. Heading into Week 2 against his former team, owners should view him as a No. 3 Fantasy LB.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims had no tackles against the Bengals in preseason action, but that doesn't tell the whole story. "I thought he played a heck of a game," coach Andy Reid said. "He's a tempo-setter, and he's always right around the ball." Sims finished with 49 total tackles last season with the Lions.
Analysis: Sims failed to reach 100 tackles for the first time in four seasons in the NFL last year and that was due to missing five games with an injury. Sims has looked healthy in camp and is apparently winning over the favor of coach Reid. Sims has even been chastised for hurting his own teammates because he's been so physical. Sure, Reid yelled at him for that, but you know he also loves the intensity. Sims could have a bounce-back year for the Eagles. Consider the former Florida State Seminole as a No. 3 Fantasy LB with upside.
News: Eagles LB Ernie Sims, acquired in a trade with Detroit, continues to play physical football in training camp -- maybe too physical. His hard hit on Sunday shook up TE Clay Harbor, and coach Andy Reid once again cautioned Sims against hurting his teammates.
Analysis: Sims is trying to work his way back into shape after missing five games in 2009 due to injury. It also was the first time in four seasons he failed to break 100 tackles. Sims has just 2 1/2 sacks in his NFL career, but that could change playing in an attacking-style system like Philadelphia. Sims could end up having one of his best seasons as a pro. His tackles might be down, but Sims might get more sacks and interceptions. Look to him as a No. 3 Fantasy LB with upside.
News: Newly acquired linebacker Ernie Sims, who came in a trade with Detroit, ran with the first team at weakside linebacker for the Eagles in an April/May minicamp. Akeem Jordan worked in a backup role. Reid pointed out that Jordan "can play all three linebacker spots."
Analysis: Sims used to be a Fantasy mainstay, but injuries and scheme changes in Detroit toyed with his Fantasy value. Playing outside in Philadelphia won't yield much in the way of stats, so keep him limited to the late rounds (or even waiver wire) in IDP league play.
News: The Eagles acquired LB Ernie Sims in a three-way deal with Detroit and Denver on Monday. Philadelphia dealt a fifth-round pick to the Broncos, who are sending tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick to the Lions. Sims has played all over the field in his career and is expected to compete for an outside linebacker position in camp. "I'll tell you what, you just love watching him play," GM Howie Roseman said. "He just plays so fast and physical; he throws his body around. I think the fans of Philadelphia are going to love Ernie Sims."
News: Notable inactives from the Packers-Lions Week 12 matchup on Thanksgiving include: Packers WR Biren Ealy, CB Josh Bell, RB Ahman Green, DB Matt Giordano, LB Aaron Kampman and DE Jarius Wynn. For the Lions, QB Drew Stanton (third QB), WR Derrick Williams, DB Kalvin Pearson, FB Terrelle Smith, LB Ernie Sims and DE Dewayne White are inactive.
Analysis: Matthew Stafford is listed as the Lions' starter and Calvin Johnson will also play. Both should be considered No. 2 options at their position. Everyone else listed here isn't worth owning in standard Fantasy play, including Kampman, who is expected to land on IR.
News: Detroit LB Ernie Sims (hamstring), S Ko Simpson (knee) and S Kalvin Pearson (hamstring) have been ruled out of the team's Week 12 game against Green Bay on Thanksgiving.
Analysis: None of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can continue to be ignored in the majority of formats.
News: Detroit DL Dewayne White, WR Derrick Williams, DB Kalvin Pearson, LB Ernie Sims, RB Terrelle Smith and QB Drew Stanton have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 11 game against the Lions.
Analysis: None of these players are relevant in Fantasy and can continue to be ignored in the majority of formats.
News: Detroit LB Ernie Sims (hamstring) and S Kalvin Pearson (hamstring) have been ruled out of the team's Week 11 game against the Browns.
Analysis: Neither of these players need to be active in IDP formats and should remain on waivers.
News: The Lions have listed the following players as inactive for Week 10 at Minnesota: LB Ernie Sims (hamstring), CB Anthony Henry, DE Cliff Avril, DT Landon Cohen, RB Aaron Brown and QB Drew Stanton (third QB).
Analysis: Sims, Avril and Henry have some IDP value in deeper leagues, so be sure to bench them for Week 10. All the other guys are not worth worrying about in Fantasy play.
News: Detroit LB Ernie Sims (hamstring) has been ruled out of the team's Week 10 game at Minesota.
Analysis: Sims has minimal Fantasy value to begin with and should be benched in all IDP formats for Week 10.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims (shoulder) went through a full practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 8 vs. St. Louis. Sims and the Lions were on a bye in Week 7.
Analysis: Sims missed a game earlier this season with a shoulder injury, but he has dressed for the team's last three games. Unfortunately, he has just one tackle in that span and has been limited. Sims is a big-time playmaker when at 100 percent, but until he gets back to that level, he is a risky Fantasy play.
News: Detroit LB Ernie Sims (shoulder) has been listed as probable for the team's Week 5 game against the Steelers. Sims came off the field with a shoulder injury in the third quarter Week 4 at Chicago
Analysis: Sims has minimal Fantasy value heading into Week 5 against the Steelers even when healthy. Ignore Sims against the Steelers even if he is able to go.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims came off the field with a shoulder injury in the third quarter Sunday at Chicago. Sims had come into the game nursing a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Sims has minimal Fantasy value heading into Week 5 against the Steelers even when healthy. Ignore Sims against the Steelers.
News: Detroit LB Ernie Sims was listed as questionable for Week 4 at Chicago with a shoulder injury. He did not play Week 3 due to the injury.
Analysis: Sims has 14 tackles through two games to start the season, which is decent for a low-end Fantasy LB. Check the inactives on Sunday before making a decision on him for Week 4 as he'll likely be a game-time decision.
News: The Lions have listed the following inactives for their Week 3 game hosting the Redskins: 3rd QB Drew Stanton, CB Marcus McCauley, CB Eric King, LB Ernie Sims, DE Turk McBride and DE Cliff Avril.
Analysis: Avril is about the only player worth starting as a low-end Fantasy DL when healthy. Most of these guys are reserves or special teams contributors when active. Keep them reserved for Week 3.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims (shoulder) is listed as doubtful for Week 3 vs. Washington. He did not practice all week.
Analysis: Sims is expected to miss a significant amount of time, so it's not surprising to see him listed as doubtful. When healthy, he's a fairly good Fantasy LB but if he's hurt, he's useless.
News: Lions coach Jim Schwartz says there's a good chance linebacker Ernie Sims will miss some time with a "fairly significant" shoulder injury. Sims has made 14 tackles for Detroit (0-2) this season. He was injured in Sunday's loss to Minnesota and has not missed a game since the Lions drafted him three years ago. Schwartz says he does not know how long Sims will be out, adding Sims does have more than a day-to-day injury. The Lions host the Redskins this weekend.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should either bench or cut Sims since he's expected to miss some relevant playing time. When healthy, he's a fairly good Fantasy LB but if he's hurt, he's useless.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon led the Lions with nine tackles against the Saints in Week 16's 42-7 loss. Ernie Sims tied Lenon with nine stops and Daniel Bullocks finished with seven.
Analysis: Lenon now has 114 tackles and two forced fumbles this season. Sims has 106 tackles and Bullocks 90, also with two forced fumbles. Lenon has emerged as one of the best tacklers in the league and deserves more than 13 percent ownership in Fantasy IDP leagues. Consider taking a flier on him if you feel like you need to make a change. Sims deserves a look as a No. 2 fantasy LB. Bullocks is only a minimally-viable LB and should not be used in Week 17 at Green Bay.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims recorded 12 tackles, including seven solo, and his first full sack of the season Week 15 at Indianapolis. He did enter the game with half a sack.
Analysis: Sims has 97 tackles on the season, and the sack certainly helps his Fantasy appeal. He deserves a look as a No. 2 Fantasy LB.
News: In the Lions' 47-10 loss vs. the Titans on Thanksgiving as part of Week 13 action, notable Lions defenders included: LB Ryan Nece (nine total tackles), LB Paris Lenon (eight total tackles), LB Ernie Sims (six total tackles) and DE Cliff Avril (three solo tackles, sack, forced fumble).
Analysis: Lenon and Sims are decent middle- to low-end options, and Avril should be a good player in the future. The Lions host the Vikings in Week 14.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon (seven tackles), DB Kalvin Pearson (six tackles), LB Alex Lewis (five tackles), LB Ernie Sims (five tackles), LB Ryan Nece (four tackles, sack), DL Cliff Avril (sack) and DL Chartric Darby (sack) all helped out in a Week 12 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Lenon has some Fantasy value in deeper IDP Fantasy leagues, but the rest of these guys are not viable in Fantasy play. Detroit hosts Tennessee on Thanksgiving and none of the players in this list should be starting for that matchup.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims, listed as probable before Detroit's Week 10 loss to the Jaguars, played and made five tackles.
Analysis: Sims continues to be a solid tackler in his third NFL season, but since he doesn't rack up a lot of sacks or interceptions, he remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy LB heading into Week 11 at Carolina.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims (shoulder) is listed as probable for Week 10 vs. Jacksonville. He returned to a full practice Friday after limited reps Thursday and sitting out Wednesday. Sims has been active for the first eight games, recording 60 tackles and one pass deflection.
Analysis: Sims continues to be a solid tackler in his third NFL season, but since he doesn't rack up a lot of sacks or interceptions, he remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy LB.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims (10 tackles) and DL Dewayne White (10 tackles, sack, forced fumble) led the way for Detroit in a Week 7 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Sims is a solid tackler at the LB spot and should be starting in all IDP formats, while White is a low-end DL. Only start Sims in Week 8 vs. Washington.
News: Notable Lions defenders from Week 5 vs. the Bears include: LB Ernie Sims (11 total tackles), FS Daniel Bullocks (five total tackles, forced fumble) and DL Jared DeVries (three solo tackles, sack).
Analysis: Sims is pretty much the only legit IDP option on the Lions' roster (CB Leigh Bodden isn't playing enough or doing enough to warrant use). Use him in Week 6 when the Lions play at the Vikings.
News: Lions LB Ernie Smis was in on 13 tackles in Week 3 at San Francisco. He entered the game with just 11 tackles on the season.
Analysis: Sims has dealt with a few injuries since the preseason, but he is playing through his ailments. He remains a high-end Fantasy LB. Use him in all leagues now that he looks to be getting back to full strength.
News: The Lions didn't get much from their defensive players Sunday against Green Bay. LB Ernie Sims had five tackles, LB Paris Lenon had seven tackles, DL Dewayne White had four tackles and a sack, DB Leigh Bodden had three tackles and LB Jordon Dizon had one tackle.
Analysis: Only Sims, Bodden and White are worth using in Week 3 at San Francisco.

Analysis: Sims recorded 134 tackles, one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2007. He has recorded two 100-tackle seasons since entering the NFL and has become a high-end Fantasy LB. He escaped serious injury and that's good news for Fantasy owners.
News: The Detroit Free Press reports that Lions LB Ernie Sims will sit out of the team's first preseason game vs. the Giants with a bone bruise in his right knee. He hopes to make the second preseason game at Cincinnati. "It's a day-to-day thing right now," Sims said. "There's a little bit of swelling in it. Once the swelling goes down, once the soreness gets out, I'll be ready to get back into it."
Analysis: Sims recorded 134 tackles, one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2007. He has recorded two 100-tackle seasons since entering the NFL and has become a high-end Fantasy LB. Draft him as such until further notice with a middle-round pick.
News: Lions linebacker Ernie Sims missed Sunday's afternoon practice with injuries to his right leg. Sims said he "landed funny" during a morning drill but walked off the field after the practice session ended. Trainer Dean Kleinschmidt said the third-year veteran suffered a hyperextended knee and sprained ankle, but did not believe the injuries were serious. Sims, who led Detroit in tackles his first two seasons, is scheduled to see a doctor Monday.
Analysis: The last thing the Lions want to see is that one of their star defensive players going down early in camp. The team remains optimistic that the injuries are minor and let's hope they are right. Sims recorded 134 tackles, one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2007. He has recorded two 100-tackle seasons since entering the NFL and has become a high-end Fantasy LB. Draft him as such until further notice. The Lions DST is not that great of a Fantasy option with Sims, and if they lose him for an extended period, don't even bother drafting them in Fantasy.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims continued to dazzle in his second NFL season, totaling 134 tackles (97 solo) with a sack, an interception, two passes defensed and three forced fumbles.
Analysis: Sims remains a top-20 Fantasy LB in leagues that reward tackles. Expect him to keep that role in 2008 IDP formats.
News: Notable Lions defenders from Week 15 at San Diego include: DB Gerald Alexander (15 total tackles), DB Kenoy Kennedy (11 total tackles), LB Paris Lenon (seven solo tackles) and CB Travis Fisher (seven total tackles). Ernie Sims had just three solo tackles.

Analysis: Sims is a No. 2 LB in IDP leagues and should be used in Week 14 against Dallas.

Analysis: Sims is a No. 1 LB in IDP leagues and should be used in all leagues Week 8 against Chicago.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Lions linebacker Ernie Sims fits the mold of Bucs LB Derrick Brooks in the Tampa 2 defense -- and fits it well. "He's a great player," Bucs coach Jon Gruden said. "I just think he's defining his own niche here. He is a collision guy, man. He makes some of the greatest plays I've seen sideline to sideline. I love watching Ernie Sims play. Derrick is a guy that's going to the Hall of Fame and had a long, healthy, productive, great career, and I'm sure Ernie Sims can accomplish a lot of those similar things if he keeps doing what he's doing, that's for sure."
Analysis: Sims burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2006 with 125 tackles. He is once again on pace for 100 tackles in 2007 with 44 through five games. He also has one interception and one forced fumble. He is only owned in 45 percent of Fantasy IDP leagues at this time, but there should be little hold up. He is a solid Fantasy LB and should be starting more often than not.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims had eight tackles Sunday against Washington.
Analysis: Sims is a No. 1 LB in IDP leagues and should be used in Week 7 against Tampa Bay. The Lions have a bye in Week 6.
News: Lions defenders who played well in Week 4 vs. Chicago include: LB Paris Lenon (10 total tackles, sack), LB Ernie Sims (11 total tackles, interception, forced fumble), CB Fernando Bryant (eight total tackles, interception), DE Jared DeVries (six solo tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles) and DT Shaun Rogers (five total tackles, sack). CB Keith Smith had an interception-return for a touchdown and Kenoy Kennedy had four total tackles.

News: LB Ernie Sims and DB Gerald Alexander led the Lions in tackles with eight each during Detroit's 56-21 loss to the Eagles in Week 3. Sacks came via DE Langston Moore, DE Corey Smith and LB Paris Lenon, while DB Idrees Bashir recovered two fumbles.
Analysis: Sims is the only player in this update with any Fantasy value, and he is no more than a reserve LB in IDP leagues. He should remain benched for Detroit's Week 4 game with the Bears.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims was all over the field during Saturday's preseason game against the Colts. He totaled nine tackles, including seven solo.
Analysis: Sims had an outstanding rookie season with 124 tackles. Sims' success should only continue as he develops into one of the tougher LBs in the NFL. Consider him a quality No. 2 Fantasy LB with potential to move into a No. 1 role, especially in leagues that heavily reward tackles.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims should retain his status as the most reliable Fantasy defender on the team in 2007. The Lions added a little bit of talent up front, but their secondary is still a huge question mark. Ultimately, expect Sims to exceed his 124 total tackles, half-a-sack and one fumble recovery in his first season.
Analysis: Sims' success should only continue as he develops into one of the tougher LBs in the NFL. Consider him a quality No. 2 Fantasy LB with potential to move into a No. 1 role, especially in leagues that heavily reward tackles.
News: Lions rookie LB Ernie Sims wound up leading the team in tackles (124 total, 81 solo) with 0.5 sacks and one fumble recovery in his first season.

DB Fernando Bryant had five tackles and a fumble recovery. DB Terrence Holt had seven tackles and an interception. DL Cory Redding had two tackles and a half-sack. DB Dre Bly had one tackle.

News: The Lions had two interceptions and a fumble against Atlanta and QB Michael Vick. LB Ernie Sims recovered a fumble and had six tackles. DB Dre Bly had one tackle and an interception. DB Kenoy Kennedy had four tackles and an interception. LB Boss Bailey had six tackles.

News: The Jets totaled 398 yards and 31 points against the Lions defense in Week 7. The Jets got 221 yards on the ground. The Lions did have one interception, sacked QB Chad Pennington twice and forced two fumbles, which none were recovered. Rookie LB Ernie Sims led all tacklers with 10. DB Terrance Holt also had tackles and one interception.
Analysis: The Lions defense is so inconsistent, it is hard to tell which team is going to show up on a weekly basis. Now they are without Shaun Rogers for a few weeks, it probably won't be pretty. The Lions are on a bye in Week 8, so reserve the Lions DST. Sims continues to be a No. 1 LB in IDP leagues. Use Holt as a No. 3 Fantasy DB.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims (elbow) is listed as probable for Week 7 at N.Y. Jets. He did practice with the team on Wednesday.
Analysis: In only his rookie season, Sims has emerged as a must-start Fantasy LB in IDP leagues. He was a bit shaken up Sunday against the Lions and it looks as though he might have some lingering affects from the game. Still, he is practicing with the team so all looks good right now. He should be able to play vs. the Jets.
News: The Lions gave up 26 points against Minnesota but only one offensive touchdown. LB Boss Bailey had 11 tackles, and DB Jamar Fletcher had an interception. LB Ernie Sims had seven tackles.
Analysis: The Lions DST has a decent matchup against Buffalo in Week 6 so could be a useful option if your starting DST is on a bye. Bailey is a good LB in IDP leagues, as is Sims. Keep Fletcher reserved.
News: The Green Bay Packers racked up 400 yards and 31 points on the Detroit Lions defense in Week 3. The Lions were unable to sack QB Brett Favre or force the interception-prone QB to cough one up, but they did manage to make the Packers lose two fumbles. LB Ernie Sims led the defense with 10 total tackles. DB Daniel Bullocks was second with six tackles and DB Jamar Fletcher had five tackles.
Analysis: After a strong performance in Week 1 against the the Seahawks, the Lions defense has been non-existent the last two weeks. For Week 4 against St. Louis they remain a No. 2 DST. As for IDP players, if you haven't already scooped up Sims, do so now. He is for real and looks like will be the team's leading tackler at the end of the season. He is already making a strong case for Defensive Rookie-of-the-Year.
News: The Lions will have to do some juggling with their linebacking corps in the game Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The loss of SLB Alex Lewis for at least one game with a sprained left knee set off a chain reaction that could affect several teammates. With Lewis out, Paris Lenon will move from the starting MLB to Lewis' strong-side position and Boss Bailey, who was being brought back slowly from an off-season ankle surgery, will get his first start of the season at MLB. Rookie Ernie Sims will remain at the weak-side linebacker position but backups LaVar Woods and rookie Anthony Cannon are expected to get additional playing time.
Analysis: The loss of Lewis isn't severe, but it will have somewhat of an effect on the Lions. Still, the good news is that they are going against the Packers, who could be without starting running back Ahman Green. Consider using the Lions defense in Week 3 if your regular DST is on bye. As far as IDP concerns, the only player worthy of ownership at this point is Sims, who is having a nice start to his rookie season with 17 tackles. Play him, if you got him.
News: Lions rookie LB Ernie Sims had seven solo tackles at Chicago in Week 2.
Analysis: Sims is developing into a solid No. 3 Fantasy LB. Keep him active for sure when the Lions host the Packers in Week 3.
News: According to the Detroit Free Press, Lions LB Erine Sims was fined $7,500 for a hit on Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck in Week 1. The hit came as Hasselbeck was sliding to the turf. Sims intends to be more careful now with hitting quarterback as they slide to the ground, but added he doesn't plan to lose his trademark aggressivness that made him a star at Florida State. "Oh, I care about the fine," Sims said in the report. "That's the last thing I want to do is get a fine. I've got to be a smart ballplayer. But at the same time, I can't let nothing take away from my game."
Analysis: There is a reason why the Lions drafted Sims with the No. 9 pick in the 2006 draft -- the kid goes all out whenever he is on the field. Typically it is risky to take a rookie in Fantasy football, but on the defensive side of the ball, Sims could put together a very nice year for Fantasy IDPers. He led the team Week 1 in tackles with 10 and it probably won't be the last. If you need help at LB, make sure to keep Sims active when healthy.
News: Lions LB Ernie Sims, the Lions rookie starter on the weak side, apparently will be fined for a hit on Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck in the season opener. Coach Rod Marinelli said the team had received a letter from the NFL and he wants to make sure Sims understands the limitations of hitting the quarterback.
Analysis: Sims led the Lions defenders with 10 tackles (seven solos)in Week 1 and continued to impress Lions coaches with his speed and aggressive style of play. Considered too small to play linebacker by some scouts, Sims could develop into a powerful linebacker in the mold of Derrick Brooks. He might amass as many as 90 tackles making him an excellent IDP starter.
News: LB Ernie Sims, the Lions' first-round pick in the NFL draft last spring, performed up to expectations in his starting role in the Lions' season opener against Seattle.

News: The Detroit Free Press reports that Lions LB Ernie Sims has been everything head coach Rod Marinelli has wanted from his first-round pick and more. Has Sims played beyond expectations? "I couldn't say that," Marinelli said. "I just think he's what we wanted. It's not just the athleticism and the hitting. He's coachable, he's attentive, he's into it and he loves football. He absolutely adores this game. The No. 1 thing that I wanted was football character, and that's the thing we were pursuing in each of those guys -- Daniel (Bullocks) is the same way. ... I want the passion and the energy and the practice. I want them to be the best that they can be."
Analysis: Sims ended camp on Aug. 15 by leveling an offensive lineman. Considered too small to play linebacker by some scouts, Sims could develop into a powerful linebacker in the mold of Derrick Brooks. He might amass as many as 90 tackles and is an early-round pick in rookie-only drafts, perhaps the third-best defender behind A.J. Hawk and Michael Huff.
News: Ernie Sims, the ninth overall pick in this year's NFL draft, signed with the Lions, agreeing to terms Saturday night and reporting to the Lions on Sunday after getting a call late Saturday from his agent, Todd France, telling him the deal was done. "I was lying down and trying to get some rest, just in case I would be practicing," the linebacker from Florida State said. "I had mixed feelings -- I really wanted to be out here, but I didn't want to be under this sun." The 6-foot, 221-pound Sims, who missed the first two days of training camp, finished his collegiate career with 200 tackles, seven sacks for 61 yards and 21 tackles for loss.
Analysis: He made an immediate impact Sunday, cracking fellow rookie Brian Calhoun with a forearm to the head on his first play. "That felt good," Sims said. "I couldn't unload on him like I wanted, but it was nice to get a lick in." Sims is a strong, fast player who should be a starter right away for the Lions on the weakside. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy LB this season, but he'll be playing in the 'Derrick Brooks' role of the new Tampa-2 defense in Motown, so he might amass as many as 90 tackles. He is an early-round pick in rookie-only drafts, perhaps the third-best defender behind A.J. Hawk and Michael Huff.
News: Rookie Ernie Sims, Detroit's first-round pick, missed the first practices of training camp Friday because he hasn't signed a contract. Lions executive VP Tom Lewand said there was no update on the negotiations. "I'm all ready to do a deal," Lewand said. "Hopefully, we'll get this moving quickly." The Lions drafted Sims, a linebacker from Florida State, with the ninth overall pick.
Analysis: Sims had been lining up at weakside linebacker in minicamp and is expected to take on that role for the Lions in 2006. He has potential to be a 100-tackle guy, which should motivate Fantasy IDP owners to draft him. He should wind up being a No. 2 Fantasy LB in 2006, but pencil him in as a No. 3 to start the season.
