Lions guard Rob Sims hoping for sixth season in Detroit

(2/2/2015) Lions guard Rob Sims is hoping to return to Detroit for a sixth season after being traded to the team in 2010.

"The 10 years previous of me being here there had been 16 other guards," Sims said shortly after the season ended for Detroit. "That’s enough. Me holding it down for five years, I’m proud of that."

The 31-year-old veteran is proud to call Detroit home.

"This is our home," Sims said. "My children were born here. Me and my wife have built our family here and bought businesses here. Detroit is never ever going to leave me. My heart and my charity work will always be here. But yeah, I would love to stay here, love to."

Sims is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.


Lions give probables green light for Week 16

(12/21/2014) The Lions have cleared all their probables for their Sunday game against Chicago, including premier wideout Calvin Johnson (ankle). Among the other significant proables given the thumbs-up are linebacker Ashlee Palmer (quad) and guard Rob Sims (illness).

(12/19/2014) The Lions ruled defensive tackle Nick Fairley (knee) out and cornerback Mohammed Seisay (hamstring) questionable for Sunday's contest against the Bears.

Meanwhile, safety Don Carey (ankle), wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle), defensive end George Johnson (illness), defensive tackle C.J. Mosley (not injury related), linebacker Ashlee Palmer (quad) and guard Rob Sims (illness) were labeled as probable.

(8/28/2014) The following starters will not suit up for the Lions Thursday night against the Bills: Quarterback Matthew Stafford, receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, running back Reggie Bush, center Dominic Raiola, guard Rob Sims and tight end Brandon Pettigrew, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, cornerback Rashean Mathis, defensive end Jason Jones, safeties James Ihedigbo and Don Carey and linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Sims has been dealing with a shoulder injury. He was limited in practice both Wednesday and Thursday, but was able to return Friday.

Tackles Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard were both limited in practice Friday as they continue to deal with groin injuries, while guard Rob Sims is probable with a shoulder injury.
