Chiefs to have their studs Week 9

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/31/2014) The Chiefs should have all their studs Week 9 against the Jets.

Offensive starters Jamaal Charles, Alex Smith and Travis Kelce headline the long list of probable players for the contest. All three should play.

The team also listed Eric Berry, Anthony Fasano, Phillip Gaines, Cyrus Gray, Junior Hemingway, Mike McGlynn and Sean Smith as probable for the contest. Berry is listed with an ankle injury.

Waiver wire thin for quarterbacks this week

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/21/2014) With an eye on Week 8 and beyond, Jamey Eisenberg tabbed his top quarterbacks on the waiver wire Tuesday, headlined by the Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill, who is owned in just 43 percent of CBSSports.com leagues at this point.

Additionally, Jamey eyes a few key stashes who might be worth your time if you are having trouble at the position or just have a roster spot to fill. Specifically, recovering Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (36 percent) and Johnny Manziel (13 percent), the Browns' backup, could be worth a flier.

Among quarterbacks with a lower ceiling who nonetheless have jobs locked down, Kyle Orton of the Bills (12 percent) and Alex Smith of the Chiefs (59 percent) have some value, with matchups against the Jets and Rams, respectively, for Week 8.

Which QB's should you target on waivers?

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/30/2014) With just two teams on bye and few teams dealing with serious injuries at the position, there aren't many needs to fill at quarterback this week. Still, Jamey Eisenberg's Week 5 Waiver-Wire column highlights a handful of names you might want to target before waivers run Wednesday morning.

Giants QB Eli Manning headlines the list of add-worthy quarterbacks, after he lit up Washington for five touchdowns last week. He was featured on the waiver-wire column last week as well. Carson Palmer (shoulder) of the Cardinals is also on the list, as is Joe Flacco of the Ravens, Alex Smith of the Chiefs, Blake Bortles of the Jaguars and Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) of the Vikings to round out the top-5.

Kirk Cousins, Jake Locker and Geno Smith are mentioned as potentially droppable options, if you need a roster spot.

Bengals bring back Alex Smith

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/10/2014) The Bengals on Tuesday re-signed tight end Alex Smith , who had become an unrestricted free agent when his 2013 Cincinnati contract expired.

Smith is a 10th-year NFL player in 2014, in his second season with Cincinnati. He joined the Bengals as an unrestricted free agent from Cleveland for 2013 and played in every regular season game, with two starts. He caught 13 passes for 47 yards.

"Alex played significant snaps for us last year, and it’s good to get him back in the fold," said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. "He’s ready to go physically, and it's mini-camp week, so he jumps right back in there for us."

Smith has 119 NFL games played, with 57 starts. He has 160 receptions for 1,461 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is expected to be No. 3 on the depth chart behind Tyler Eifert and Jermaine Gresham.
