Wake leaves career high behind

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake bounced back from a subpar game in Week 16 against the Bills, and he established a new career high for sacks in the process. Wake brought down Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick once in the game, giving him 15.0 sacks on the season and breaking his previous personal best. Wake added three tackles and a forced fumble in the 24-10 win.
Analysis: Wake disappointed a year ago with just 8.5 sacks, but it is clear he has not lost any ability as he hits his 30’s. Wake has 49 tackles and 15.0 sacks on the season, while matching a career high with three forced fumbles. He remains a solid Fantasy option in all formats as the season winds down.

Wake goes sack-less

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake was uncharacteristically quiet in Week 15 against the Jaguars, finishing with just two tackles in a 24-3 win. Wake was held without a sack in the game, for just the second time in the last five games.
Analysis: Wake has 14.0 sacks on the season, already tying him with his career best. He was held on at least two plays in which he might have ended up with sacks Sunday, so he is still making an impact. Wake remains one of the most consistent pass rushers in the league, and should be considered a high-end Fantasy option in IDP formats.

Wake throws sack party

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake collected a season-high three sacks in Week 14 against the 49ers. Wake, who now has 14 sacks on the year, finished with six solo tackles in the 27-13 defeat. He was also credited with two tackles for loss and three QB hits.
Analysis: Wake continues to wreak havoc on opposing QBs as he has collected 4.5 sacks over his past two contests. He has already matched his career high of 14 sacks and should be able to surpass that with three games left on the schedule. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Wake as a high-end option in most IDP formats moving forward.

Wake crashes on Brady

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake got into double digits in sacks for the second time in three years, after he brought down Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in Week 13. Wake had just two tackles in the game, but the sack gave him 10.5 on the season. The Dolphins fell in the game, 23-16.
Analysis: Wake was strangely not on the field for the team’s final defensive drive in the game, and he did not seem pleased about the decision. "Frustrating is an understatement,” he said to the Palm Beach Post. “I dont know, thats a question to ask the coaches" Hopefully this is not a sign that the team is displeased with Wake’s production, as he has been consistently solid all year. Fantasy owners should still keep him in the lineup in most IDP formats moving forward.

Wake silenced vs. 'Hawks

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake failed to record a sack for the second time in eight games Sunday against the Seahawks. Wake was limited to just one tackle in a 24-21 win.
Analysis: Wake is already up to 9.5 all in the last eight games, so he is allowed an off day. He has is on pace for the second-most productive season of his career, and should remain a high-end Fantasy option despite the quiet game.

Wake returns to the backfield

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake got back to getting after the quarterback in Week 11 against the Bills, after going without a sack last week. Wake brought down Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the 19-14 loss, giving him 9.5 sacks on the season. Wake added five tackles -- two solo.
Analysis: Wake has now surpassed his sack total from a year ago, and he still has six games left. He needs 5.5 in the final six games to match his career high, and that looks like a good bet at this point. Wake is one of the top pass rushers in the league, and he remains a high-end Fantasy option in all IDP formats.

Wake's streak ends

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake had his sack streak snapped at five games Sunday against the Titans, as he failed to bring down Titans quarterback Jake Locker in Week 10. Wake had a quiet game overall, finishing with just two tackles in a 37-3 loss.
Analysis: Wake still has 8.5 sacks on the season, so hopefully we can write off Sunday's performance as an off week. He is one of the league's most dominant pass rushers, and should be considered a high-end Fantasy IDP option in all formats.

Wake extends sack streak

News: The Dolphins got to Colts quarterback Andrew Luck just once in Week 9 Sunday, and it was no surprise to took him down. Defensive lineman Cameron Wake brought Luck down in the second half, giving him a sack in five games in a row.
Analysis: Wake now has 8.5 sacks through eight games, matching his total from a year ago. Wake is thriving as a down lineman in the Dolphins’ new defensive system. He is on pace for a huge season, and remains a high-end Fantasy option in all IDP formats.

Wake ready to down Jets

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake was active and in uniform for Week 8 against the Jets Sunday in Week 8. Wake was considered probable for the game with a neck injury.
Analysis: Wake went without a sack in the previous matchup against the Jets in Week 3, but he has been on a tear since. He has 6.5 sacks over the last three games. Keep him active in all Fantasy IDP formats for the matchup.

Neck unlikely to slow Wake

News: Miami defensive lineman Cameron Wake was listed as probable for Week 8 against the Jets after first appearing on the injury report Friday with a neck issue. Wake was a limited participant in practice, but is expected to play as he attempts to stretch his streak of consecutive outings with a sack to three games.
Analysis: Wake is expected to suit up at New York as coaches did not express any concern about the injury. Wake has been on a tear since the teams' last meeting in Week 3 -- the last game he went without a sack -- and has notched 6.5 sacks in the past three weeks. Fantasy owners should keep him active in all formats as long as he's active for Week 8.

Wake crashes through Rams

News: Dolphins linebacker Cameron Wake posted his third game in a row with a sack Sunday against the Rams in Week 6. He got to Sam Bradford once in the game, but nearly had another -- and a forced fumble to go with it. Bradford knocked the ball out of Bradford’s hands late in the game and the Dolphins recovered it, but the play was reviewed and it was determined to be an incomplete pass. Wake added three tackles, in a 17-14 win.
Analysis: Wake began the season slowly, with no sacks in his first three games. He was was still getting pressure on the quarterback, however, so you knew it was only a matter of time before he broke through. He has done that in a major way recently, posting 6.5 sacks in the last three games. Wake is one of the premiere pass rushers in the NFL, and should be considered a high-end Fantasy option for Week 8, when the Dolphins return from a bye.

Wake wakes up in Week 4

News: Dolphins defensive linemen Cameron Wake was finally able to get to the quarterback in Week 4 against the Cardinals. Wake was credited with a career-high 4.5 sacks in the 24-21 win to go along with four tackles for a loss and five QB hits. He finished with five tackles -- four solo -- in the defeat and now has 14 tackles on the year.
Analysis: Wake did not record a sack over his first three games but woke up big time Sunday. The 30-year-old was able to get to Kevin Kolb at will and hopefully can his his latest performance as a spring board for the rest of the year. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Wake as a viable option in most IDP formats heading into Week 5.

Wake zones in on quarterback

News: Miami defensive line Cameron Wake had five tackles and two quarterback hits during the Dolphins' 23-20 overtime loss to the Jets in Week 3. Wake was able to rattle Mark Sanchez in the pocket, but failed to come away with a sack and remains stuck on zero through three games.
Analysis: Wake has racked up 23 sacks over the past two seasons so his slow starts is mildly concerning for the Dolphins. Last year, he went only two straight games without a sack so a rebound could be quick. He also has only nine sacks and could be a candidate for the bench in shallow Fantasy IDP formats while he looks to regain his form.

Wake has one tackle

News: Dolphins linebacker Cameron Wake managed just one tackle in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Wake, owned in 83 percent of leagues, is one of the top IDP options in Fantasy football, and should probably be given one more chance to prove himself after a three-tackle performance in Week 1. He'll look to bounce back in Week 3 against the Jets.

Wake wreaks havoc in return

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake was back on the field for Friday’s preseason game against the Falcons, after missing the previous week’s game with a back injury. He practiced in full all week, so his return to the lineup did not surprise. Wake played with the first-team defense and looked to be in fine form, picking up 1.5 sacks in just one half of work. He finished the game with three tackles as well.
Analysis: His absence from last week's game was for precautionary reasons, and with the third game of the preseason generally representing a dress rehearsal for the regular season, we might not see Wake until the regular season begins. Wake disappointed last year, with just 8.5 sacks, but he has additional eligibility this season as a defensive lineman, so Fantasy owners can consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy DL in IDP formats.

Wake held out against Carolina

News: Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake was inactive for Friday's preseason contest against the Panthers due to an apparent back injury. Wake was involved in a car accident earlier in the week which forced him out of practice on Tuesday. Olivier Vernon will start in his place.
Analysis: It seems as if the Dolphins are keeping him out of the team's second preseason game for precautionary reasons. We'll keep an eye on his injury in the coming days as his status for the next preseason game against Atlanta is still uncertain. Wake is on the verge of becoming a defensive lineman, and that's big for Fantasy purposes. Assuming he indeed makes the move to DE, Fantasy owners should consider Wake a low-end No. 2 DL with potential to deliver some nice stats -- he's only a year removed from a 14-sack, 57-tackle season.

Wake lands contract extension

News: The Dolphins have extended pass rush specialist Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season. Wake made the Pro Bowl in 2010, when he had 14 sacks, and he had 8 1/2 sacks last year. He came to the Dolphins in 2009 from the Canadian Football League, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year. ESPN reported the extension was worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed. "It's kind of like taking things to another level, kind of like when I came down here from the CFL," Wake said Sunday. "It has been an amazing, amazing journey."
Analysis: Wake is on the verge of becoming a defensive lineman, and that's big for Fantasy purposes. Assuming he indeed makes the move to DE, Fantasy owners should consider Wake a low-end No. 2 DL with potential to deliver some nice stats -- he's only a year removed from a 14-sack, 57-tackle season.

Report: Wake wants a new deal

News: Dolphins pass-rusher Cameron Wake is looking for a new contract and skipped the start of the team's voluntary offseason workout program Tuesday, according to ESPN. Wake has one year left on his contract, and according to the report, he won't show up until he gets a new deal. The 30-year-old has 122 tackles and 28 sacks in three NFL seasons with 8.5 sacks in 2011.
Analysis: Wake is on the verge of becoming a defensive lineman, and that's big for Fantasy purposes. But it looks like he'll need a large contract first. Assuming he indeed makes the move to DE, Fantasy owners should consider Wake a low-end No. 2 DL with potential to deliver some nice stats -- he's only a year removed from a 14-sack, 57-tackle season.

Wake a potential Fantasy DL?

News: The Palm Beach Post reports that the Dolphins plan on moving to a 4-3 scheme in 2012. That means Cameron Wake would no longer be a 3-4 linebacker and would move to a defensive end. Wake entered the league as an end but moved to LB when the Dolphins moved to a 3-4 scheme.
Analysis: Wake had 8.5 sacks last year with 42 total tackles in 2011, finishing way behind the leaders of the pack as a linebacker. But if he did that as a Fantasy defensive lineman he'd have finished as a Top 25 DL. Assuming he indeed makes the move to DE, Fantasy owners should consider Wake a low-end No. 2 DL with potential to deliver some nice stats -- he's only a year removed from a 14-sack, 57-tackle season.

Wake sets season mark for tackles

News: Dolphins LB Cameron Wake led the team with seven tackles in Week 15 against Buffalo. This marked a season-high tackle total for Wake, who also recorded a sack.
Analysis: This was only Wake's second sack over his last six games. While the boost in tackles was good to see, he remains a low-end LB option for owners in IDP leagues.

Wake earns lone sack

News: Miami LB Cameron Wake had four tackles and a sack during the Dolphins' 20-19 loss to Dallas in Week 12 on Thursday. Wake, who also had two other quarterback hits, took down Cowboys QB Tony Romo for Miami's only sack during the game.
Analysis: Wake vaulted into stardom last season with a career-high 14 sacks, but has been unable to duplicate the showing this year. He now has 6 1/2 sacks as he halted a four-game stretch without an unassisted sack. Consider Wake a low-end option in Fantasy IDP formats.

Wake has 5 1/2 sacks in eight games

News: Dolphins LB Cameron Wake totaled three tackles (two solo) and 1/2 sack Week 9 at Kansas City. Wake has 5 1/2 sacks through eight games.
Analysis: Wake continues to be one of the Dolphins' top pass rushers. However, as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme he doesn't always rack up the tackles, so he remains more of a No. 3 Fantasy LB.

Wake registers two sacks

News: Dolphins LB Cameron Wake came up with two sacks and four tackles vs. the Broncos in Week 7.
Analysis: Wake might not have quite as much luck in Week 8 against the Giants, but in leagues where tackles do not count Fantasy owners should consider him. He's a deeper option for owners in leagues where tackles do count.

Wake activated for Week 7

News: Dolphins LB Cameron Wake (hamstring) was activated for Week 7 against Denver, as anticipated. He had been listed as probable on the injury report.
Analysis: Wake has totaled three sacks in his first five games. However, he has just 11 tackles and that won't help his Fantasy appeal in CBSSports.com IDP leagues because he is LB eligible. Wake remains a low-end Fantasy start even when healthy enough to play.

Wake ready to chase down Tebow

News: Dolphins LB Cameron Wake (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 7 vs. Denver. He returned to a full practice Friday after limited reps Wednesday and Thursday.
Analysis: Wake has totaled three sacks in his first five games. However, he has just 11 tackles and that won't help his Fantasy appeal in CBSSports.com IDP leagues because he is LB eligible. Wake remains a low-end Fantasy start.
