Dolphins issue lengthy injury list for Week 3

(9/19/2014) The Dolphins have officially ruled out running back Knowshon Moreno (elbow) for their Sunday game against Kansas City. Also out are linebacker Koa Misi (ankle) and guard Shelley Smith (knee).

Listed as doubtful are defensive end Terrence Fede (knee), center Mike Pouncey (hip) and linebacker Jordan Tripp (chest).

Tight end Charles Clay (knee) and guard Billy Turner (foot) are considered questionable.

The probables are safeties Walt Aikens (hand) and Louis Delmas (calf), tackle Branden Albert (shoulder) and linebackers Jonathan Freeny (calif), Jelani Jenkins (shoulder) and Philip Wheeler (thumb).


Koa Misi only Dolphins defender sidelined Sunday

(9/14/2014) The Dolphins defense is mostly in good shape for Sunday's matchup against the Bills in Week 2, but they will be missing one key piece. Linebacker Koa Misi is inactive as a result of a knee injury suffered last week, though his absence was expected as he was listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Other than Misi, the rest of the team enters the game healthy enough to play. Linebackers Philip Wheeler (thumb) and Chris McCain (illness), defensive linemen Randy Starks (toe) and Derrick Shelby (knee), and defensive back Walt Aikens (hand) were all considered probable and are in uniform for the game. 


Five Dolphins defenders expected to play through injury

(9/12/2014) The Dolphins have a lengthy injury report for Week 2 against the Bills, but most of their defensive players listed are expected to be healthy enough to play.

Linebackers Chris McCain (illness) and Philip Wheeler (thumb), defensive linemen Randy Starks (toe) and Derrick Shelby (knee) and defensive back Walt Aikens (hand) are all probable for Sunday's game despite being limited at times during practice.

Defensive linemen Terrence Fede and Bruce Gaston; offensive linemen Mike Pouncey, Billy Turner and Jason Fox; and linebackers Jordie Tripp and Philip Wheeler

(9/5/2014) The Dolphins have issued a lengthy injury report for Week 1.

Four players have been officially ruled out for the game. Defensive end Terrence Fede, center Mike Pouncey, linebacker Jordie Tripp and linebacker Philip Wheeler will not play against the Patriots. 

Guard Billy Turner is listed as doubtful due to a foot injury. 

The team also listed for players as probable. Safety Walt Aikens, cornerback Jamar Taylor and linebackers Chris McCain and Koa Misi should all see action Sunday.

Dolphins linebackers racking up tackles

(12/22/2013) One Dolphins linebacker reached the 100-tackle mark in Week 16 against the Bills, and another stands at the precipice after a 19-0 loss.

Philip Wheeler led the team with 14 tackles -- eight solo -- to bring his total for the season to 109. That matches his career-high, set a year ago. Dannell Ellerbe is just six tackles short of the century mark, after his 10-stop game left him with 94 with one game left in the season.

Wheeler led the team with 10 tackles -- all solo -- but did not factor on the box score otherwise in a 26-23 loss.

Wheeler has 35 tackles through the first five games of the season.

(9/15/2013) Dolphins linebacker Philip Wheeler played a big part in the team's 24-20 Week 2 win over the Colts Sunday, as he nearly led the team in stops. Wheeler racked up 12 tackles -- eight solo -- in the game, and added his first sack of the season as well. Wheeler also broke up two passes and picked up two tackles for a loss.

(9/8/2013) Linebacker Philip Wheeler was one of several Dolphins newcomers to make strong defensive contributions in their 23-10 opening-game win at Cleveland. Wheeler tied for the team lead with six tackles and added of its 16 hits on quarterback Brandon Weedeen.
