Vince Young aims to play in 2014

(2/11/2014) Quarterback Vince Young, cut by the Packers last preseason, aims to play in 2014, reports the Houston Chronicle. Young last played in a regular-season game in 2011 with the Eagles.

He said he's settled his bankruptcy case and will train in San Diego for the next two months in hopes of latching on with a team.

“I am pleased with the quick resolution of my bankruptcy case," said Young, 30. "With all these battles behind me, I am able to devote my sole focus on family, football and pursuing all opportunities in front of me.”

(8/31/2013) Quarterback Vince Young, running back Alex Green and tight end D.J. Williams were among the veterans cut by the Packers on Saturday. But the team waived many more in getting down to the mandated 53.

The following are also gone: fullback Jonathan Amosa, safeties Chaz Powell and David Fulton, centers Patrick Lewis and Garth Gerhart, tackle Kevin Hughes, wide receivers Miles White, Tyrone Walker and Charles Johnson, linebackers Donte Savage, Dezman Moses and Terrell Manning, cornerbacks Brandon Smith, James Nixon and Loyce Means, defensive tackle Jordan Miller, and tight ends Jake Stoneburner and Matthew Mulligan


Vince Young tweets his release from Packers

(8/31/2013) Veteran quarterback Vince Young has tweeted news of his release from the Packers.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise considering the team has already cut fellow backup Graham Harrell. The Packers are apparently convinced that B.J. Coleman can handle the job of backing up Aaron Rodgers or are planning on signing another quarterback.

Young completed 26 of 49 passes for 218 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the preseason.

(8/24/2013) Vince Young has won the backup quarterback competition against Graham Harrell, according to ESPN, which is reporting that the latter has been released by the Packers. Young has received far less playing time than Harrell in preseason games, completing just 6 of 12 passes for 33 yards. Harrell completed 17 of 29 for 120 yards. Neither recorded a touchdown.

(8/20/2013) Packers quarterback Graham Harrell remains the "clear leader" over Vince Young to be Aaron Rodgers' backup, according to the team's website. Friday's game against Seattle "likely will determine whether Harrell locks down the job or Young significantly closes the gap," the report said.


Packers make roster moves

(8/6/2013) In addition to officially signing quarterback Vince Young on Tuesday, the Packers signed receiver Justin Wilson and placed receiver Sederrik Cunningham on injured reserve with a wrist injury. 

Young is expected to back up Aaron Rodgers this season.

(8/27/2012) The Bills released quarterback Vince Young on Monday following his unimpressive performance during the preseason. Young completed just 48.1 percent of his passes for 276 yards (25 of 52) and two interceptions. Buffalo also acquired Tarvaris Jackson from Seattle on Sunday to serve as the backup to starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
