News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis has been ruled inactive for Week 15 against the Steelers. Willis was unable to practice this week due to the hamstring injury that also forced him to miss last week's loss to the Cardinals.

Willis uncertain for Week 15

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis (hamstring) is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Week 15 against Pittsburgh on Monday night. Willis has not practice the entire week, including Saturday, because of the hamstring issue.
Analysis: Willis continues to be one of the top linebackers in the league, but he might miss his second game in a row. It's unlikely he plays after missing practice all week and Fantasy owners should have healthier alternatives available. Consider him a solid start in IDP formats when healthy.

Willis still not practicing

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis did not practice on Thursday for the 49ers. He continues to deal with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in IDP formats should keep a close eye on Willis' status for Week 15. Willis continues to be one of the top linebackers in the NFL and can be considered a must-start Fantasy option in all IDP formats, when healthy.

Willis ruled inactive vs. Cardinals

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis (hamstring) has been ruled inactive for Week 14 against the Cardinals. Willis, who sustained a hamstring injury in last week's win over the Rams, was unable to practice this week.
Analysis: Willis will not play on Sunday, but that shouldn't really come as that much of a surprise. With the 49ers already assured a spot in the postseason, the team isn't going to take any chances with Willis, which unfortunately doesn't bode well for Fantasy owners. Continue to monitor his status moving forward in the hopes he can return in Week 15. Willis continues to be one of the top linebackers in the NFL and can be considered a must-start Fantasy option in all IDP formats, when healthy.

Analysis: Willis continues to be one of the top linebackers in the NFL and is just seven tackles away from his fifth 100-tackle season. If active Sunday, then you are obviously starting him in Fantasy. Check back for inactives.

Willis injures hamstring in Week 13

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis left Week 13 against the Rams in the first quarter after suffering a hamstring injury. He did not record a tackle before being forced from the game. He did not return in the 26-0 win. Willis told CSN Bay Area that he doesn’t think the injury is serious but that he will have an MRI on Monday.
Analysis: Willis has been one of the best linebackers in the NFL since entering the league in 2007 so this injury poses a big problem for the 49ers' defense. Keep an eye on his status going forward to see the severity of his injury. Willis has recorded 93 tackles with two sacks thus far and should be considered a must-start Fantasy LB in IDP formats, when healthy.

Willis continues strong play

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis had eight tackles, including one for a loss, during the 49ers' 16-6 loss at Baltimore in Week 12 on Thursday night. Willis has recorded at least seven tackles in each of his past seven games and has racked up 93 total stops this year.
Analysis: Willis inched closer to reaching the century mark in tackles for the fifth consecutive season -- his entire NFL career -- as he continues to play at is trademark high level. He also has two sacks this season and should remain a must-start option in all Fantasy IDP formats.

Willis great again in Week 11

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis’ tackle numbers were down in the 23-7 victory over Arizona, but he still lead the team with seven total (six solo), while also intercepting a pass, forcing a fumble, and picking up three passes defended. The interception was his first of the season, while the forced fumble was his fourth. Willis’ numbers were down largely as a result of Arizona running few plays overall offensively, with only 12 plays on the ground in the game.
Analysis: Willis continues to be a dynamite playmaker for the 49ers, as he seems to be involved in every big play for them. He now has 84 tackles on the season, and could be in line for a big week in Week 12 at Baltimore as the Ravens like to lean on their running game. They are averaging 24.9 carries per game. Continue to keep Willis in the lineup in all IDP formats.

Willis strong once again

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis notched 11 tackles and a sack during the 49ers' 27-20 victory over the Giants in Week 10. Willis was one of two San Francisco defenders to register double-digits in tackles as he finished four stops shy of NaVorro Bowman for the team lead.
Analysis: Like Bowman, Willis continues to play at an intense level and now has 78 tackles this season. He has also recorded two sacks over his past three games to get back on pace to reach his career high of six set last season. Keep him active in all Fantasy IDP formats.

Willis makes 13 total tackles

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis had another big tackling game on Sunday of Week 9 in a win at Washington. Willis totaled 13 tackles in the contest and added one pass defended for the 49ers in the victory.
Analysis: Willis recorded just his second double-digit tackling game of the season in Week 9 against the Redskins. Willis is the leader of the 49ers defense and usually sets the tone for the others. The 26-year-old seems to be involved in almost every play on the field and looks well on his way toward another 100-plus tackle season. Leave him active in all formats heading into Week 10 against the Giants.

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis notched his first sack of the season in Week 8 against the Browns. Willis also was credited with seven tackles, six solo in the 20-10 win. Two of his tackles went for a loss and he also was credited with a quarterback hit.
Analysis: Willis is the leader of the 49ers defense and usually sets the tone for the others. The 26-year-old seems to be involved in almost every play on the field and looks well on his way toward another 100-plus tackle season. Willis stays on tackles pace

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis made seven tackles in the Week 6 win over the Lions. He now has 47 tackles on the season.

Willis keeps racking up tackles

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis recorded his first double-digit tackle performance of the season in Week 5 against the Buccaneers. He finished with 12 tackles and also had a pass defended in the 48-3 win.
Analysis: Willis has posted 100-tackle campaigns in each of his first four seasons in the NFL and should be able to reach that feat again in 2011. He remains a must-start Fantasy LB in all IDP formats.

Willis has 28 tackles in four games

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis totaled six solo tackles and one pass defense in Week 4 against the Eagles.
Analysis: Willis is still one of the premier linebackers in the NFL. However, he has totaled just 28 tackles through four games and has no sacks. He doesn't seem to be as big of a playmaking linebacker in Vic Fangio's defensive scheme, but it might only be a matter of time before he breaks out, so keep Willis active in Fantasy IDP formats.

Willis still racking up tackles

News: Niners LB Patrick Willis racked up eight tackles in Week 3 at Cincinnati. He was also credited with a pass defensed.
Analysis: One of the elite tacklers in the NFL, he should remain a top option in IDP formats while healthy. Through the first three weeks, he has added two tackles defensed to his production.

Willis forces fumble in loss

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis recorded eight tackles and forced a fumble in Week 2 against Dallas. The 49ers would end up losing the game, 27-24, despite Willis' efforts.
Analysis: Willis now has 13 tackles on the year, but he did improve from Week 1 to Week 2. Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should continue to view him as a must-start LB option. The 49ers face the Bengals in Week 3.

Willis starts year off slowly

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis collected just five tackles (all solo) in Week 1 against Seattle. Two of those hits went for a loss as Willis and the 49ers would win the game, 33-17.
Analysis: Willis is an extremely durable player and is a menace to opposing team's offenses. Even though he started off relatively slowly, Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should keep him active heading into Week 2 against Dallas as he's a must-start LB option.

Willis sits for 49ers

News: San Francisco LB Patrick Willis missed his team's season finale on Sunday. He had a procedure done on his hand in December, but with the 49ers out of playoff contention the leader of the defense rested his broken hand. This was the first game Willis has missed in his career.
Analysis: Willis finished the year with 128 tackles, a slight dip from the average of 155.7 he put up over his first three seasons. Still, those numbers are still worth using in all Fantasy IDP leagues. Owners in those leagues should keep him targeted on Draft Day 2011.

Willis out for season finale

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis will miss the season finale vs. San Francisco after having a procedure done on the hand he broke earlier this month.
Analysis: Willis finishes the season with 128 tackles, a drop from the average of 155.7 he put up over his first three campaigns, but he still did enough to remain a must-start Fantasy option in IDP play. For this final game, his owners will have to look elsewhere.

Willis leads the way for 49ers

News: 49ers LB Patrick Willis turned in another solid performance in Week 16 against the 49ers. Willis finished with a team-high 12 tackles in the 25-17 defeat, including recording his sixth sack of the season. Willis was also credited with a forced fumble and now has 128 tackles on the season.
Analysis: Willis has had another outstanding season for San Francisco and his six sacks are a career high. He is by far the 49ers biggest playmaker on defense and should be considered a must-start in all IDP formats when he is on the field.
