(6/4/2014) 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis has continued to work in practice in NaVorro Bowman's spot in the defense, Comcast Sportsnet reports. Willis had thumb surgery in January but is apparently cleared for action.

Willis has had a couple surgeries on his hand throughout his career, but has never missed a game due to a hand injury. It's not clear when he initially injured his thumb. Willis was not listed on the team's injury report heading into the NFC Championship game. Willis started 14 games this season, with 104 tackles.

The defensive Pro Bowl selections, as chosen by fan vote as well as coaches and players, are broken down by position as follows, with the teams to be selected Jan. 22 via televised draft.

Patrick Willis has three sacks in last six games

(12/16/2013) 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis totaled a team-high six solo tackles and one sack during a 33-14 win Week 15 at Tampa Bay. Willis has three sacks through 12 games -- all coming in his last six appearances.

Willis is up to 80 tackles (63 solo).

(12/1/2013) 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis enjoyed another solid performance as he recorded his second sack of the season during Sunday’s win over the Rams in Week 13.

Willis took down Kellen Clemens in the fourth quarter for a sack. He finished the game with three tackles (two solo), one sack and one tackle for loss in a 23-13 victory.

Bowman had nine total tackles (five solo) while Willis led the team with 11 total tackles (seven solo) in a 27-6 victory.

Bowman reached the 100-tackle mark for the third consecutive season. Willis has 66 tackles on the year.

"Nothing is for sure right now," Willis said, per CSN Bay Area. "My mindset is if I’m out there, I want to make sure I can help my teammates and help us win. Right now, it’s taking it day by day.

"This is the first time I’ve dealt with a groin. I’ve endured a lot of pain from all the years I played football from when I was a kid to now. Some things my body is able to absorb. This was a little different. It was something new. Thank God the MRI showed it wasn’t something that would keep me out for the rest of the season."
