Colts stampede to 53-man limit

News: The Colts said farewell to the following players on Friday: DE James Aiono, DT Chigbo Anunoby, LB Jerry Brown, RB Darren Evans, LB Tim Fugger, RB Deji Karim, CB Brandon King, LB Greg Lloyd, TE Kyle Miller, WR Kashif Moore, DB Mike Newton, WR Jeremy Ross, DT Jason Shirley, TE Andre Smith, LS Justin Snow and DB Latarrius Thomas.
Analysis: None of these players were or are expected to put up good enough stats in the first place. Leave them all off rosters.

Shirley again records a sack

News: DL Jason Shirley, who recorded a sack in his first game with the Panthers in Week 14, recorded another in his second game with the Panthers in Week 15 at Houston. He finished with two tackles, including one solo.
Analysis: Shirley had played in only three NFL games prior to joining the Panthers, and those came in 2008. You shouldn't expect much Fantasy production from a defensive tackle, but he's worth monitoring just to see if the sacks continue. For now, he should remain on waivers in Fantasy IDP leagues.

Shirley signs with Seattle

News: The Seahawks signed DL Jason Shirley on Monday.
Analysis: Shirley has not appeared in an NFL game since 2008 and should continue to be ignored in all Fantasy leagues.

Bengals make their cuts

News: Notable cuts made by the Bengals on Saturday include: DE Victor Adeyanju, FB Fui Vakapuna, CB Brandon Ghee, QB Dan LeFevour, CB Rico Murray, TE John Nalbone, DT Jason Shirley, FB James Develin, CB David Pender, DE James Ruffin, WR Calvin Russell, DT Cornell Banks, LB DeQuin Evans, RB Jay Finley, RB John Griffin, WR Andrew Hawkins, CB Korey Lindsey and K Thomas Weber.
Analysis: None of these guys were or are expected to be Fantasy relevant. Leave them off rosters.

Bengals list Week 17 inactives

News: The Bengals have listed the inactives for their Week 17 game vs. Kansas City. Not in uniform will be: QB Carson Palmer, RB Chris Perry, RB Kenny Watson, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Chad Johnson and DT Jason Shirley.
Analysis: Housh and Johnson clearly have the most Fantasy value in this group, so make sure you bench them in all formats. The other guys, except for Palmer, who was ruled out for the season already, have minimal or zero value.

Palmer among Week 11 inactives

News: Cincinnati is still without QB Carson Palmer in Week 11 against the Eagles. The other inactives for Philadelphia are: DL Eric Henderson, TE Nate Lawrie, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson, DL Antwan Odom and DL Jason Shirley.
Analysis: Same ol' routine for those Fantasy owners who are sticking with Palmer this late into the season. There are rumors that Palmer might wind up having Tommy John surgery, which would impact his next two seasons and possibly the rest of his career. He has no Fantasy value for the time being, but keep him if you want. The rest of these players have no Fantasy value and should be kept off rosters.

Bengals announce Week 9 inactives

News: The Bengals have announced the Week 9 inactives for their game vs. Jacksonville. Not in uniform will be: QB Carson Palmer (elbow), DB Geoffrey Pope (coach's decision), TE Nate Lawrie (coach's decision), WR Andre Caldwell (foot), WR Jerome Simpson (ankle), DT Orien Harris (coach's decision) and DT Jason Shirley (coach's decision).
Analysis: Palmer obviously still has some Fantasy value, but he was declared out earlier in the week. No one else in this list has any value.

Caldwell among Week 8 inactives

News: The following players are listed as inactive for Week 8 at Houston for the Bengals: DB Jamar Fletcher, LB Corey Mays, TE Ben Utecht, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson and DT Jason Shirley.
Analysis: Caldwell only has long-term potential this point since he's buried on the Bengals' depth chart. Consider him no better than a low-end reserve worth hanging on to in the deepest of keeper leagues. None of the other players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy options.

Bengals list Week 7 inactives

News: The Bengals listed the following players as inactive for Week 7 against Pittsburgh: QB Carson Palmer (third QB), WR Glenn Holt, TE Ben Utecht, K Shayne Graham, DB Jamar Fletcher, LB Corey Mays, DL Orien Harris and DL Jason Shirley.
Analysis: Aside from Palmer and Graham, none of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.

Bengals list Week 6 inactives

News: Bengals DB Dexter Jackson, LB Corey Mays, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson, DL John Thornton and DL Jason Shirley have all been ruled inactive for Week 6 at N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves and have a marginal role when active. It's safe to keep most of them off Fantasy rosters and all should be reserved for Fantasy Week 6.

Shirley takes care of court date

News: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Bengals rookie DL Jason Shirley was not on the field Wednesday as he was in Fresno County (Calif.) Superior Court the previous day to hear when his DUI trial would begin.
Analysis: Shirley is only a backup with the Bengals and has no Fantasy value.

Watson out for Bengals

News: Bengals RB Kenny Watson (hamstring) is out for Week 4 against Cleveland. Also inactive for the Bengals in Week 4 are DB Johnathan Joseph (ankle). DB David Jones got his second straight start in his spot. Also inactive again were DB Dexter Jackson (thumb) and DB Herana-Daze Jones (hamstring) as well as rookie WR Andre Caldwell and rookie DTs Pat Sims and Jason Shirley.
Analysis: Keep Watson reserved in all leagues for Week 4. The same goes for Joseph, Jackson, Caldwell, Sims and Shirley. Keep them all out of your active lineup.

Bengals list Week 3 inactives

News: The Bengals listed the following players as inactive for Week 3 at the N.Y. Giants: QB Jordan Palmer (third QB), DL Jason Shirley (coach's decision), DL Pat Sims (coach's decision), WR Andre Caldwell (coach's decision), WR Jerome Simpson (coach's decision), TE Ben Utecht (chest), DB Dexter Jackson (thumb) and DB Jonathan Joseph (ankle).
Analysis: Aside from possibly Joseph in IDP formats and Utecht in very deep leagues, none of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
