News: The New York Giants made their first round of cuts Monday and released the following players: defensive back Antwaun Molden; tight end Ryan Purvis; defensive lineman Carlton Powell; defensive back Chris Horton; wide receiver Julian Talley; wide receiver Brandon Collins; tight end Chris Hopkins; defensive back Brandon Bing; running back Joe Martinek; defensive back Jojo Nicolas; and defensive lineman Oren Wilson.
Analysis: None of these players were expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left off all rosters at this point.
News: The Falcons waived DL Carlton Powell on Friday.
Analysis: Powell saw action in three games this season for Atlanta, but he was merely a backup DL. Continue to ignore him.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Falcons signed DT Carlton Powell on Sunday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Powell hasn't played in an NFL game despite being drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 draft by the Broncos.
Analysis: Powell is a long-shot to earn significant playing time, but he will have an early chance to make a statement with Vance Walker (right ankle) and Trey Lewis (arm) dealing with injury. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his preseason progress, though we don't see Powell warranting value on Draft Day.
News: The Denver Broncos have signed running back Lance Ball and defensive lineman Carlton Powell to the practice squad. Those players replace running back Darius Walker, who was released, and defensive lineman Everette Pedescleaux, who was placed on the practice squad injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: Ball was released from Tennessee's practice squad Oct. 27. Powell was selected by the Broncos in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He was released by Cleveland's practice squad Oct. 20. Nobody listed above has any Fantasy value at this time and they should all be left on waivers in leagues.
News:Carlton Powell tore his Achilles' tendon in an offseason workout and will miss the entire season, according to The Sports Xchange.
Analysis: The fifth-round pick could have provided depth on the defensive line. Now, he won't be making any sort of an impact for quite some time. He has no Fantasy appeal.
News: The Broncos have TE Chad Mustard and DT Carlton Powell as players on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Analysis: Neither player is expected to produce enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. You can safely ignore them.
News: The Denver Post reports that the Broncos have signed rookie LB Spencer Larsen and DT Carlton Powell to four-year contracts.
Analysis: Both players will battle for spots along the depth chart in training camp and are not expected to produce big stats in 2008. Ignore them for now.
