Jaguars sign Tommie Campbell as Alan Ball goes on IR

(10/29/2014) The Jaguars announced Wednesday they placed starting cornerback Alan Ball on injured reserve. Ball suffered a biceps injury Week 7, but he didn't believe the injury was season-ending at the time.

The Jaguars also announced they signed cornerback Tommie Campbell to take Ball's spot on the roster.

(10/24/2014) Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was among the notable players listed on the final injury report for Week 8 at home against Miami. Gerhart was listed as probable after missing two straight games with a foot injury. Craig Loston (hamstring) and Luke Bowanko were also labeled probable.

Dwayne Gratz (hip) was the only other player on the report listed as questionable, while Alan Ball (biceps) and Andre Branch (groin) were officially ruled out for Sunday.

(10/23/2014) Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball echoed his coach's sentiments about him being doubtful to play Week 8 against the Dolphins due to a biceps injury. However, Ball doesn't believe the injury is season-ending.

"My thoughts are that it isn’t season-ending," he said, per The Florida Times-Union. "In the next week, week-and-a-half, I’m be trying to get my body back to the best it can possibly be and then go from there."

(10/22/2014) Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Wednesday starting cornerback Alan Ball is considered doubtful to play Week 8 against the Dolphins due to a biceps injury. Bradley added Ball is getting a second opinion on the injury.

Bradley said Dwayne Gratz and Demetrius McCray would start at cornerback Sunday, if Ball is sidelined.

(10/20/2014) Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball is not expected to practice on Wednesday because of a bicep injury, coach Gus Bradley told reporters on Monday, per ESPN. Ball has 22 combined tackles and one interception on the year. His status remains uncertain for Week 8 at home against Miami.

Included among them are cornerbacks Alan Ball (abdomen) and Jeremy Harris (illness), defensive end Chris Clemons (illness), safety Johnathan Cyprien (concussion), running backs Storm Johnson (ankle) and Toby Gerhart (foot), safety Guy Winston (illness), wide receivers Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and Allen Hurns (ankle), offensive lineman Austin Pasztor (hand), tight end Mickey Shuler (heel) and linebacker Paul Posluszny (knee).

The team has ruled out wideout Marqise Lee (hamstring) and deemed tight end Clay Harbor as questionable.

Cornerback Alan Ball (abdominal) is questionable after sustaining an injury Friday, but he told the team website he expects to play against the Redskins.

(12/23/2013) Jaguars defensive lineman Andre Branch and defensive back Alan Ball both delivered big plays Week 16 against the Titans. Branch recorded a sack in the second quarter, his sixth of the season and fifth in six games. Ball recorded an interception early in the third quarter, his second of the season.

Branch also had four tackles, three solo. Ball had two tackles, both solo.

(11/18/2013) Although Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer surpassed 400 passing yards during a 27-14 win Week 11 at Jacksonville, he found it difficult at times throwing on Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball, who finished with a season-high four pass defenses. In fact, Ball has at least two pass defenses in three straight games, totaling eight in that span.

Ball had three solo tackles for a second straight game Sunday as well. He has 33 tackles (29 solo) and a career-high nine pass defenses in nine games.
