Eight Jaguars probable for Week 17 game

(12/27/2013) The Jaguars have deemed eight players as probable for their Sunday clash against Indianapolis, including top back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) and linebacker Paul Posluszny (groin).

The others are cornerback Alan Ball (ankle/shoulder), wide receivers Ace Sanders (finger) and Mike Brown (wrist), safeties Johnathan Cyprien (thigh/foot) and Josh Evans (shoulder) and defensive tackle Jordan Miller (shoulder).


Andre Branch, Alan Ball come through

(12/23/2013) Jaguars defensive lineman Andre Branch and defensive back Alan Ball both delivered big plays Week 16 against the Titans. Branch recorded a sack in the second quarter, his sixth of the season and fifth in six games. Ball recorded an interception early in the third quarter, his second of the season.

Branch also had four tackles, three solo. Ball had two tackles, both solo.

The offensive players among them are tight end Marcedes Lewis (thigh) and guard Austin Pasztor (shoulder). 

The defenders are cornerback Alan Ball (shoulder), safeties Josh Evans (shoulder) and Johnathan Cyprien (thigh) and linebackers Paul Posluszny (groin) and Nate Stupar (neck).

(11/18/2013) Although Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer surpassed 400 passing yards during a 27-14 win Week 11 at Jacksonville, he found it difficult at times throwing on Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball, who finished with a season-high four pass defenses. In fact, Ball has at least two pass defenses in three straight games, totaling eight in that span.

Ball had three solo tackles for a second straight game Sunday as well. He has 33 tackles (29 solo) and a career-high nine pass defenses in nine games.

(9/13/2013) The possible loss of starting cornerback Alan Ball to a groin injury could mean two new starters at that position. Fellow starter Dwayne Gratz is already sidelined for at least three weeks with a sprained ankle.

Ball sustained the injury Thursday in practice, the Sacramento Bee is reporting. If he can't play Sunday in Oakland, the Jaguars will likely start recently signed Will Blackmon and rookie seventh-round pick Demetrius McCray as their two corners.
