News: The Bears re-signed defensive lineman Amobi Okoye Wednesday.
Analysis: Okoye managed just seven tackles and one sack in six games with Chicago this season before being released in late November. He has no Fantasy appeal.
News: The Bears released defensive linemen Amobi Okoye the team announced Tuesday. Okoye had just seven tackles and one sack in six games this season.
Analysis: Okoye's short run with the Bears was a disappointing one as he failed to make much of an impact. He was ruled inactive in three of the last four games before finally getting his walking papers Tuesday. Fantasy owners should continue and ignore the 25-year-old in all formats at this point in the year.
News: After acquiring defensive lineman Brian Price in a trade with Tampa Bay in late July, the Bears cut him to re-sign defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, who was cut recently from the Bucs.
Analysis: Neither defensive player is worth using in Fantasy.
News: The Buccaneers continued trimming their roster Friday in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: defensive linemen Frank Okam and Amobi Okoye; defensive backs Larry Asante, Keith Tandy and Cody Grimm; linebacker Rennie Curran; and running back Mossis Madu.
Analysis: Okoye, a first-round pick at the age of 19, has already been rumored to rejoin the Bears. He had four sacks for Chicago last season. The other players were able to make an early impression in training camp and survive the first round of cuts. However, neither of them were ultimately expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left on waivers at this point.
News: The Bucs have taken Adam Hayward and Amobi Okoye off their PUP list.
Analysis: Neither of these players is worth using in Fantasy as their stats aren't expected to be big. Keep them off rosters.
News: The Buccaneers have placed defensive linemen Da'Quan Bowers, Amobi Okoye and Adam Hayward on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start camp. All three are eligible to come off at any time but if they remain on after the preseason they'll miss at least the first six weeks of the season. Bowers tore his Achilles in May and could miss the entire 2012 campaign.
Analysis: None of these players is worth using in Fantasy as their stats aren't expected to be big. Keep them off rosters.
News: Free agent defensive tackle Amobi Okoye has signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a source told ESPN.com. Okoye registered four sacks for the Bears in 2011, serving primarily as a backup. He was drafted in the first-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2007, says The Sports Xchange. Several teams expressed interest, according to the report, including the Bears.
Analysis: Okoye is a decent gap filler but not a solid stat producer. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Chicago added to its defensive line, agreeing to a one-year deal with nose tackle Amobi Okoye on Saturday. Okoye wasn't out of work for long after being cut by Houston earlier Saturday. The youngest first-round draft pick in NFL history when he was taken 10th overall in 2007 at age 19, he had a career-high 44 tackles in 2010, including three sacks.
Analysis: Okoye was deemed expendable after the Texans used six of their eight draft picks on defensive players, and new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips plans to use Shaun Cody and Earl Mitchell at nose tackle, leaving Okoye out of the mix. Fantasy owners should consider the disappointing Okoye with a late-round flier in deeper IDP drafts.
News: The Houston Texans have cut 2007 first-round pick Amobi Okoye, along with quarterback Dan Orlovsky and receiver David Anderson. Okoye was 19 when he was drafted 10th overall in 2007, the youngest player ever taken in the first round.
Analysis: Okoye has regressed as a pass-rushing tackle since his rookie season, when he posted a career-high 5 1/2 sacks. He'll likely find another spot somewhere, but he's got low-end value as a Fantasy IDP option.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye totaled four solo tackles and one sack in Week 10 against the Jaguars. He also had three QB hits. Okoye has two sacks on the season -- both coming in the last four games.
Analysis: Okoye has regressed as a pass-rushing tackle since his rookie season, when he posted a career-high 5 1/2 sacks. The two sacks are his most since then, so just maybe Okoye can have a strong second half. Still, he is not worth starting in Fantasy until he gets a little more productive.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye finally got on the board in Week 6 against the Chiefs. His sack of QB Matt Cassel to end the game couldn't have come at a better time. Okoye did not have a sack through the first five weeks. He finished with six tackles in the 35-31 win.
Analysis: After recording 5.5 sacks in his rookie campaign, Okoye had just 2.5 over the last two seasons before bringing down Cassel in Week 6. His main job is to clog up the middle in the 4-3 defense but his athleticism always makes him a threat to make plays. He has 19 tackles through the first five games and is on pace for a career year in that department. But until he has more performances like Sunday's, Fantasy owners should continue to view Okoye as a low-end reserve DL for the deepest of leagues.
News: Texans DT Amobi Okoye got 5 1/2 sacks as a 20-year-old rookie in 2007, and he figured he'd get at least that many each season after that. Two seasons and just 2 1/2 sacks later, Okoye realizes things don't come that easy in the NFL. Okoye admits to struggling in year two before refocusing last season. "At the start of last year I got back into who I am and the way I like to play," he said. "I lost the love a little bit my (second) year, I wouldn't even lie, but all that is back. I'm back to having fun and playing good and just back to enjoying it."
Analysis: As a defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme, Okoye isn't exactly in a position to register a ton of stats. That limits his productivity in Fantasy Football and really isn't anything more than a low-end reserve DL for the deepest of leagues.
News: The Texans have listed the following players as inactive for Week 11 at Indianapolis: WR Andre Davis, LB Kevis Coley, LB Morlon Greenwood, TE Mark Bruener and DL Amobi Okoye.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to have any Fantasy relevance when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Texans listed WR Andre Davis, DB Will Demps, LB Chaun Thompson, TE Mark Bruener and DL Amobi Okoye among their inactives for Week 10 against the Ravens.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to have any Fantasy relevance when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye had one tackle Sunday against the Colts.
Analysis: Okoye is a low-end DL in IDP leagues and should not be used in Week 6 against Miami.
News: The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game was rescheduled to Nov. 9 after Reliant Stadium was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike, meaning both teams will not play in Week 2. The new date also affects the Cincinnati Bengals' schedule. Houston was originally scheduled to play the Bengals on Nov. 9. Now, those teams will play on Oct. 26 and Cincinnati will take its bye week on Nov. 9, when the Texans now play the Ravens.
Analysis: It's all a little confusing, but basically Fantasy owners need to treat Week 2 as a bye week for the Texans and Ravens. So if you have any players or either defensive unit active, get them reserved immediately. The Texans will next play at Tennessee in Week 3.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye, who the Texans drafted Okoye with the No. 10 pick in the NFL Draft, played well as a rookie considering he was only 19. He appeared in all 16 games in 2007 with 14 starts and finished with 32 tackles (23 solo), 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
Analysis: Okoye should continue to improve as he develops in the NFL. Consider him a No. 3 DL in 2008 with plenty of upside.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye had two tackles Sunday at the Colts.
Analysis: Okoye is a low-end DL in IDP leagues and should not be used in Week 17 against the Jaguars.
News: Texans DB Fredrick Bennett (eight tackles), LB DeMeco Ryans (six tackles), DB Jamar Fletcher (four tackles), DB Von Hutchins (four tackles), DB C.C. Brown (three tackles, one fumble recovery), DL N.D. Kalu (half a sack) and DL Omobi Akoye (half a sack) all made nice contributions in Houston's 28-14 win over the Buccaneers in Week 14.
Analysis: Ryans is one of the leagues top three Fantasy LBs and the only one in this group worth starting in Week 15 against the Broncos.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye had one tackle Sunday at Cleveland.
Analysis: Okoye is a low-end DL in IDP leagues and is not worth starting in Week 13 at Tennessee.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye (neck) is listed as probable for Week 11 vs. New Orleans. Okoye went through full practices all week. He totaled five tackles (three solo) and one sack during a Week 9 win over the Raiders, Houston's last game since they were on a bye Week 10. The rookie out of Louisville now has five sacks in nine career games.
Analysis: Okoye is clearly accomplishing what the Texans brought him in to do -- establish a pass rush from the defensive tackles position. With that said, he won't rack up a lot of tackles and remains just a low-end Fantasy DL. It appears as though barring any setbacks, he will face the Saints.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye (neck) went through a full practice Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for Week 11 vs. New Orleans. News: Notable Texans defenders from Week 7 vs. Tennessee include: LB DeMeco Ryans (11 total tackles, sack, two fumbles recovered includine one returned for a touchdown), LB Morlon Greenwood (12 total tackles), LB Danny Clark (nine total tackles), CB Demarcus Faggins (five total tackles, forced fumble), DE Mario Williams (four solo tackles) and DT Amobi Okoye (four total tackles).
Analysis: Of these players, Ryans, Greenwood and Williams are the only usable IDP options in Fantasy play (Okoye is in deeper leagues, too). The Texans play at San Diego in Week 8.
News: DB Von Hutchins (seven tackles), LB Morlon Greenwood (five tackles), DB Demarcus Faggins (five tackles), DB Dunta Robinson (four tackles), Amobi Okoye (four tackles) and Mario Williams (three tackles, sack) all made contributions in Houston's 22-19 win over Miami in Week 5.
Analysis: Williams is a decent start in all IDP leagues, while Robinson and Okoye are solid reserves. The others should not be used Week 6 when Houston plays at Jacksonville.
News: The Atlanta Falcons told Amobi Okoye they'd draft him. Most of the other teams with top 10 picks did, too. But Okoye believed the Falcons since his college coach, Bobby Petrino, had just taken over in Atlanta. Then the Falcons passed on the defensive tackle at No. 8, and the Texans got him with the 10th pick in a move that taught Okoye an important lesson about the NFL. "It sunk in that day that this is the NFL and it is a business," he said. "Their heart's not really involved in it. Everybody's got to do what they've got to do, and it wasn't any hard feelings or anything like that." Listening to Petrino, who coached Okoye for four years at Louisville, it's clear his feelings toward Okoye had nothing to do with the decision. "I loved Amobi," Petrino said. "He was a fun guy to coach."
Analysis: Petrino said it was difficult not to draft Okoye, but the team needed a defensive end, not a tackle. The Falcons chose Arkansas end Jamaal Anderson. So far, Okoye hasn't needed any extra motivation after getting three sacks in his first two games, including two key takedowns in Houston's come-from-behind win over Carolina two weeks ago. Houston drafted him to improve its pass rush and so far he's been just what the Texans expected. Okoye is living up to his draft status so far, but still should only be considered a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye got his first two sacks in the NFL on Sunday against the Panthers. He finished with four tackles and two sacks.
Analysis: This is a good sign for the youngter, but he will struggle in Week 3 against the Colts and should be reserved.
News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye (foot) is listed as questionable for Week 2 at Carolina. He returned to limited practice reps Friday after not practicing Thursday.
Analysis: Okoye had a less than stellar debut Week 1 against the Chiefs. He had just one tackle and no sacks. Okoye will get better, but for now consider him a low-end DL in IDP leagues. Continue to track the news leading up to Sunday's inactives.

News: Texans DL Amobi Okoye started against Kansas City and became the youngest NFL player since 1967 the first year of the common draft. Okoye made his debut at 20 years and 91 days old. "Today marked the day in history, or whatever," said Okoye, who had one tackle, in the Houston Chronicle. "But I don't want to look at it that way. I just want to look at it as what got you here is what you've got to keep on doing. You can't see yourself as being extraordinary or anything like that."
Analysis: Okoye will get better, but for now consider him a low-end DL in IDP leagues.
News: Texans defensive tackle Amobi Okoye made his NFL debut and recorded one tackle on the third play of the game. It was an overall quiet outing, but Okoye did catch his first glimpse of an NFL double-team and broke through the Bears' offensive line on one play, reports The Sports Xchange. The 20-year-old rookie did see a little more action than the other first-teamers. Okoye played one series with the second-team defense at the end of the first quarter. "It was fun coming out here and finally getting that first game under my belt," Okoye said. "That first series was a lot of excitement, a lot of emotion."
Analysis: Despite comparisons to Reggie White, Okoye is probably not going to be productive enough to warrant use in Fantasy play, though he should help Mario Williams out quite a bit. Call him a late rounder in standard IDP league play, though if your league specifically starts defensive tackles and gives weighted points for tackles to them, then he'd be more of a middle-round option.
News: Houston Texans defensive end N.D. Kalu sees a lot of himself in rookie Amobi Okoye. Most of it has nothing to do with football. Kalu and Okoye are the sons of Nigerian parents and descendants of the same tribe, the Ibo. Both were raised by stern disciplinarians who taught that getting an education, not playing sports, was the path to prosperity. Both convinced their parents that football was a noble pursuit - and both managed to be precocious college students anyway. "We have a lot of common - he's just 12 years younger," said the 32-year-old Kalu, starting his second season in Houston.
Analysis: The two instantly bonded when Okoye, the 10th overall pick, walked into the Texans locker room and spotted a Nigerian flag in Kalu's locker, the one next to his. Naturally, Kalu has become a mentor, often pulling Okoye aside for "heart-to-heart" chats. While Okoye is expected to start at defensive tackle, Kalu will back up Houston's defensive ends. Coaches have talked to Kalu about being a leader - the aim this season is to back up his advice with his performance. The comfort level for Okoye has to be way up there and that's good for him and his potential Fantasy owners in IDP leagues. He is worth a look in the late rounds and long-term keeper formats.
News: The Texans and rookie DT Amobi Okoye have agreed to terms on a six-year deal, reports the Houston Chronicle. The No. 10 overall pick in the draft is expected to start and play a big role in the club's defensive tackle rotation in 2007. Okoye is fast, strong and younger than anyone in the draft (he's 19). Not only will he put up some sacks (and assist Mario Williams in getting sacks), but he'll also be solid against the run and help the Texans corral opposing running backs, and they're in a division with some lethal ones.
News: The Texans think top pick DT Amobi Okoye will help improve a pass rush that ranked 27th in the NFL in sacks last season. Kubiak believes having a player with his quickness will help free up others on the line to make plays. Defensive coordinator Richard Smith is excited about the possibilities of molding such a young player. He's already been impressed by his quickness, leverage and most importantly, his confidence. "He's got such a bright future," Smith said. "He's already made it to the NFL at 19 and he's only going to get better. He's only going to get bigger. He's only going to get stronger. What that gives you is more longevity. Right now we really like what we see."
News: With the 10th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Texans selected DT Amobi Okoye from Louisville. Okoye is a rare breed: He's fast, strong and younger than anyone in the draft (he's 19).
