News: As anticipated, Colts DL Eric Foster (ankle) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, ending his season. Foster underwent surgery on his right ankle after suffering a devastating injury on Monday night at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The interior lineman was not an option for IDP Fantasy leagues prior to getting hurt. He should not be owned in any Fantasy formats.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said on Tuesday that DL Eric Foster underwent surgery on his right ankle after suffering a devastating injury on Monday night at Tampa Bay. He is expected to stay in a Florida hospital for three to four days and will miss the remainder of the season.
Analysis: Foster will be placed on injured reserve and is lost for the season. The interior lineman was not an option for IDP Fantasy leagues prior to getting hurt.
News: Colts DL Eric Foster left Week 4 against the Buccaneers after suffering a dislocated right ankle. Foster appeared to have his ankle rolled on just prior to halftime in the contest. He had to be carted off the field and did not return in the 24-17 loss. Foster was transported to the hospital, where he will be held overnight for observation.
Analysis: Foster's injury looked pretty bad, but and likely will cost him at least a few games. Fantasy owners should continue and monitor his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the field. However, as an interior lineman, he doesn't have much value even when healthy.
News: The Indianapolis Star reported Sunday that the Colts have agreed to terms with DL Eric Foster. They re-signed him after a career-best 2010 season, in which he registered 3 1/2 sacks. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: Foster has been steady since the Colts drafted the former Rutgers star in 2008. He has notched between 33-38 tackles in each of his first three seasons, and his sack numbers have increased every year too. Fantasy owners should expect another solid improvement in 2011, though it won't likely be enough for Fantasy consideration. Ignore him on Draft Day.
News: Colts DL Eric Foster has reached a new career-high after sacking Chargers QB Philiip Rivers in the Week 12 matchup. He now has 3 1/2 on the year. Foster added two solo tackles on the night.
Analysis: The Rutgers product had never notched more than 2 1/2 sacks in his first two NFL seasons, so he should shatter that mark moving forward. Still, he doesn't get to the QB on a regular enough basis to warrant Fantasy value. Leave him off of rosters.
News: Colts DL Eric Foster has registered a sack in consecutive games after bringing down Carson Palmer in the Week 10 win over the Bengals. He added three tackles (two solo) on the day.
Analysis: Foster has registered his 2 1/2 sacks he has this season in his last four games. Still, he is not a consistent pass-rush threat for the Colts, so he should remain unowned in Fantasy play.
News: Colts DL Eric Foster had one tackle in Indianapolis' 24-26 loss to Philadelphia in Week 9. His lone tackle was a sack that went for a 10-yard loss. He now has 1.5 sacks on the season.
Analysis: Foster has 16 tackles halfway through the season and has been relatively quiet for the Colts. He is not a player to be on anyone's radar at this time, not even the deepest of Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Colts DL Eric Foster, who entered the game with only half a sack all season, recorded two sacks Week 15 at Jacksonville. He also forced a fumble.
Analysis: Foster had a nice game, but you clearly can't count on him for consistent numbers in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers in IDP leagues.
News: The Colts defense had a strong showing on Sunday in a Week 13 win over the Titans. Clint Session led the way with 13 tackles and a forced fumble that Eric Foster recovered. Melvin Bullitt was the second-leading tackler with 12 of them and Gary Brackett had 10 of his own. Dwight Freeney was the only player to sack QB Vince Young, adding a tackle to his stat line. Jacob Lacey was the lone player to intercept Young in the game.
Analysis: The Colts defense was able to shut down the Titans offense more than expected Week 13. Session and Freeney should continue to be considered solid Fantasy options looking ahead to Week 14 against the Broncos. Brackett should be thought of as a No. 2 or 3 option in IDP formats while Lacey, Bullitt and Foster are not worth having active in IDP formats.
News: Colts DB Antoine Bethea (eight tackles), DL Daniel Muir (seven tackles, half a sack), DL Eric Foster (three tackles, sack), LB Clint Session (three tackles, half a sack) and DL Dwight Freeney (two tackles, sack) led the way in a Week 7 rout of the Rams.
Analysis: Bethea and Freeney are solid starting options in Fantasy IDP leagues who will be worth using in Week 8 vs. the 49ers. The others have minimal value.
News: The Colts confirmed Friday that safeties Bob Sanders (knee) and Jamie Silva (abdomen) won't play against the Jaguars in Week 1. The Colts also said they will rotate defensive tackles during Sunday's game. Projected starter Ed Johnson is sidelined as he serves an NFL-mandated one-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Antonio Johnson and Daniel Muir are expected to start, with Eric Foster and possibly defensive end Raheem Brock also getting turns inside.
Analysis: This isn't great news for Fantasy owners because Sanders is solid in IDP leagues, and the Colts DST is typically better with Sanders on the field. The Colts DST should be avoided in most formats until they can prove to be a productive unit without Sanders. There has been no timeline on when the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year is expected to return. Johnson and Muir are not recommended options for IDP formats, though they could be worth taking a flier on in deeper formats off the waiver wire. Foster and Brock should not be owned.
News: The Colts listed the following players as inactive for Week 17 against Tennessee: DB Bob Sanders, DB Melvin Bullitt, RB Dominic Rhodes, LB Freddy Keiaho, LB Gary Brackett, DL Eric Foster, DL Dwight Freeney and DL Robert Mathis.
Analysis: The Colts rested several players for their playoff run, but DB Melvin Bullitt, LB Freddy Keiaho, DL Eric Foster are just run of the mill inactives that have no Fantasy appeal because they are not significant contributors.
News: Indianapolis has listed the following players as being inactive for Week 16's Thursday night game at Jacksonville: DB Jamie Silva, RB Najeh Davenport, LB Gary Brackett, LB Rufus Alexander, DT Eric Foster, DE Marcus Howard and DE Curtis Johnson.
Analysis: Davenport is just a role player in the Colts running game. None of the other players listed above are useful in Fantasy at this time. Keep them all over waivers for Week 16 at Jacksonville.
News: The Colts have listed the following players as being inactive for Week 15 against the Detroit Lions in Indianapolis: DB Bob Sanders, LB Tyjuan Hagler, LB Gary Brackett, LB Rufus Alexander, DL Eric Foster, WR Pierre Garcon and DL Keyunta Dawson.
Analysis: Sanders is a high-end Fantasy DB worth using in any week when he's healthy, unfortunately he's been dealing with the injury bug this season. The rest of the players mentioned above have little to no Fantasy value at this time and can be left on waivers for Week 15 against the Lions.
News: Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested early Wednesday on a drug possession charge. Colts president Bill Polian said the team was still gathering facts about the case before determining how it will discipline Johnson, but Johnson will not play Sunday at Minnesota. "He will not play this week, for sure," coach Tony Dungy said. One option for Dungy is moving 274-pound defensive end Raheem Brock inside, where he was the starter last season. Second-year player Keyunta Dawson is the other starter. They also could use their most experienced tackle, Darrell Reid, in the lineup. The only other tackles on the active roster are Eric Foster, an undrafted rookie, and Daniel Muir, who was claimed off waivers last week from Green Bay.
Analysis: Whatever the Colts opt to do, none of these players will be viable Fantasy options for Week 2. Continue to look elsewhere in IDP leagues for help.
