Babin makes impact with Jags

News: Jacksonville defensive lineman Jason Babin posted two tackles and a sack during the Jaguars' 17-10 loss to the Jets in Week 14. Babin took down New York quarterback Mark Sanchez for the team's only sack of the game and his first since joining Jacksonville on Nov. 28.
Analysis: Babin was tossed from the Philadelphia roster in late November as the Eagles preferred to play younger players at the end of their disappointing season. The 32-year-old has suited up for two games with his new team, collecting six tackles and a sack in that stretch. Fantasy owners should consider him a viable option for sacks at this point.

Babin starting for the Jaguars

News: According to ESPN, newly claimed Jason Babin will start at defensive end Week 13 at Buffalo, his first game with the Jaguars. He was placed on waivers by the Eagles after Week 12.
Analysis: Babin has just 5 1/2 sacks this season, but he had 18 last season. Clearly, he's going to have plenty of opportunity with the Jaguars. Whether or not he can deliver remains to be seen, but if you're looking for sacks, he's an option to consider.

Jaguars claim DL Babin

News: Multiple sources report the Jaguars claimed defensive end Jason Babin off waivers from the Eagles, who released him Tuesday. Coach Mike Mularkey said Babin will probably play Sunday at Buffalo.
Analysis: It didn't take long for Babin to find a new home and he immediately improves a Jaguars pass rush that has totaled just 13 sacks thus far. As long as he plays in Week 13, continue to view Babin as a viable option in deeper IDP formats.

Eagles surprisingly release Babin

News: The Eagles made a shocking move Tuesday, releasing defensive lineman Jason Babin. “We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years," coach Andy Reid said. "We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation.”
Analysis: The Eagles pass rush has struggled all season. Babin managed just 5 1/2 sacks in 11 games after totaling 18 in 16 games last year. This probably wasn't a performance-related move. It probably has more to do with the Eagles hoping someone picks up Babin's contract. Babin will likely be on another NFL roster soon, but Fantasy IDP owners have to take him out of active lineups until further notice.

Babin collects 5.5 sack

News: Eagles defensive linemen Jason Babin picked up his 5.5 sack of the season in Week 12 against the Panthers. Babin also finished with four tackles in the 30-22 defeat and was also credited with a pair of QB hits.
Analysis: Babin has been on a sack tear of late as he now has three over his last four games after being shutout over his previous four games. While Babin has been a major disappointment after posting 18 sacks a year ago, owners should leave him active while he is on a little tear.

Babin saves dismal game with sack

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin was able to make a sack in the Week 11 blowout loss at Washington Sunday. It was a saving sack for a horrendous game all around for the Eagles. Babin recorded just two tackles and has just two in his last two games against the Cowboys and Redskins.
Analysis: Babin has two sacks in his last three games and 4 1/2 on the season for the Eagles. For a guy who finished with 18 sacks last season he is well off that pace. Babin, like the Eagles, has been a disappointment all around this year. He has low-end value in most Fantasy IDP formats.

Babin gets back in sack column

News: After going the previous four games without a sack, Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin was able to get back on the board in Week 9 against the Saints. He brought down quarterback Drew Brees once and finished with four tackles (two solo) in the 28-13 loss.
Analysis: Babin has just 3.5 sacks through eight games this season and it doesn't look as though he will be able to match the 18 he posted a year ago. He might even struggle to reach double-digit sacks at this point so until he proves to be more consistent, consider the 32-year-old as more of a low-end Fantasy option in IDP formats heading into Week 10 against the Cowboys.

Babin goes another game without sack

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin managed three tackles (one solo) Week 6 vs. Detroit. He has 15 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks in six games.
Analysis: Babin doesn't have a sack in his last three games after getting 2 1/2 in his first three. The Eagles pass rush has been abysmal as of late and it's showing in Babin's recent production. He has lost a little Fantasy appeal in IDP formats while he struggles to bring down the quarterback.

Babin has one tackle

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin had just one tackle Sunday at the Steelers in Week 5. He did have a pass knocked down.
Analysis: Babin is off to a slow start with just 2.5 sacks on the season. He will look to get going in Week 6 against the Lions, and he should remain active in all IDP leagues.

Babin can't get to QB

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin could not get going defensively during Sunday's contest against the Giants. Babin recorded just one tackle in the third quarter in a 19-17 victory.
Analysis: Babin is not a great source of tackles and likely have a hard time duplicating his 18-sack total from last season. He has 2.5 through his first four games and should be still considered a viable IDP option in the majority of Fantasy formats heading into Week 5 at Pittsburgh.

Babin adds to sack total

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin was able to get after the quarterback in Week 3 against the Cardinals. He sacked Kevin Kolb one and a half times and finished with five tackles (four solo) in the 27-6 loss.
Analysis: Babin has 2.5 sacks through three games and looks well on his way to posting double digits for the third straight campaign. Continue to view him as a viable option in the majority of Fantasy IDP formats.

Babin injured in Week 2 game

News: Philadelphia defensive lineman Jason Babin finished with one tackle in the Week 2 win over the Ravens. Babin was injured in the third quarter of the game. His status going forward is unknown.
Analysis: We're not sure how badly Babin was injured in the Week 2 win for the Eagles. Fantasy owners should check his status entering Week 3 at Arizona. When healthy, Babin is a solid start in most Fantasy IDP formats.

Babin has huge game on Sunday

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin had a huge game on Sunday against the Browns. he had four tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.
Analysis: Babin had owners a little nervous before the game, as he was probable with a calf issue coming into Week 1. He is coming off a career-high 18 sack season in 2011, and is already off to a rousing start. He is safe to plug into your lineup in Week 2.

Babin active for Week 1

News: Eagles defensive lineman Jason Babin is active for Week 1 against the Browns. He had been a full participant in practice, but was listed as probable with a calf issue.
Analysis: Babin posted a career-high 18 sacks with the Eagles in 2011, after registering 12 1/2 in 2010 with the Titans. He remains an elite IDP option, while strengthening the Eagles DST unit overall.

Babin set for season opener

News: Philadelphia defensive lineman Jason Babin is listed as probable on the team's injury report for Week 1 at Cleveland after battling the lingering effects of a calf injury during the first week of practice. Babin was a full participant in practice throughout the past week.
Analysis: Babin, who appeared in all 16 games for the second straight year, posted a career-high 18 sacks in 2011 as he remained a strong presence on the end for Philadelphia after a one-year venture with the Titans. Fantasy owners should monitor his status, but he remains an elite IDP option.

Babin misses preseason finale

News: Eagles defensive end Jason Babin did not dress for the team’s preseason finale Thursday against the Jets, though he does remain on track to play in Week 1 against the Browns, Sept. 9. Babin has missed the entire preseason with a strained calf.
Analysis: This was essentially what we expected, as the veteran has nothing to prove in preseason following an 18-sack season in 2011. He has posted double-digit sacks in each of the last two seasons and is worth a mid-round selection in IDP Fantasy formats on Draft Day, as a high-end option.

Reid: Babin should play Week 1

News: Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters Sunday defensive end Jason Babin (calf) should be ready by the season opener (Sept. 9) against the Browns.
Analysis: Babin might miss the entire preseason schedule, but that is of little concern to the Eagles. He is a veteran defensive lineman, so the main concern is getting him healthy. Babin had a career-high 18 sacks in 2011. He has totaled 98 tackles and 30 1/2 sacks the last two seasons. He is an elite Fantasy defensive lineman and worth a mid-round pick in IDP drafts.

Babin still out for Eagles

News: Eagles defensive end Jason Babin did not travel with the team for their third preseason game against the Browns Friday night due to a calf strain. Babin has been bothered by the injury since training camp and has yet to take a snap this preseason.
Analysis: Babin racked up a career-high 18 sacks as he was one of the few bright spots on the Eagles' underachieving defensive unit last season. We'll continue to keep you updated on his health status moving forward. For now, he remains an early round pick in IDP drafts, if healthy.

Babin out at least two weeks

News: Comcast Sports Net reports that Eagles defensive end Jason Babin, who strained his calf Saturday, will miss two to three weeks with a second-degree strain. The report says that Babin shouldn't be in danger of missing the season opener, and instead, he could have to sit out only a couple preseason games.
Analysis: Babin was one of the few bright spots on the Eagles' underachieving defensive unit last season and racked up a career-high 18 sacks. Babin, who appeared in all 16 games for the second straight year, also forced three fumbles as he remained a strong presence on the end for Philadelphia after a one-year venture with the Titans. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on his health status, but he remains an early round pick in IDP drafts.

News: An MRI on Philadelphia defensive end Jason Babin's ailing calf confirmed a strain and there is no timetable for return, according to the team's official website. Babin will likely miss at least a week of training camp after suffering the injury during Saturday's practice.
Babin shut out on Saturday

News: Eagles DL Jason Babin didn't record a tackle in Week 16 against the Cowboys, but one of his two quarterback pressures resulted in a hand injury for QB Tony Romo, knocking him out of the game. Babin (18) and Trent Cole (10) became the first pair of Eagles to reach double digits in sacks in a season since 1995. The Eagles won the game, 20-7.
Analysis: Babin may not have done much on Saturday, but his resume on the year makes him a must-start DL option in Fantasy IDP leagues. Keep him active for Week 17 versus the Redskins.

Babin goes for the three-peat

News: Eagles DE Jason Babin has been on a monster run recently, as he notched his second-consecutive three-sack game against the Jets in Week 15. He had four solo tackles as well in the 45-19 Eagles victory.
Analysis: The 31-year old has gotten sacks in bunches this season and is now the NFL’s sack leader with 18. He has eight in his last three games as the Eagles take on the Cowboys in Week 16. Babin is a must-start Fantasy option in IDP formats.

Babin records three Week 14 sacks

News: Philadelphia DE Jason Babin had three sacks and a forced fumble in the Week 14 win at Miami. The three sacks gave Babin a career-best 15 on the season. His previous best of 12.5 sacks came last year with Tennessee. It was seemingly only a matter of time before Babin beat RT Marc Colombo, who has struggled all season for the Dolphins. Babin added three total tackles in the game.
Analysis: Babin is among the NFL's best in sacks this season with 15. Babin now has five sacks in his last two games as the Eagles enter Week 15 against the Jets. Babin has become a high-end Fantasy option in IDP formats.

Babin disruptive in loss

News: Philadelphia DL Jason Babin picked up his 11th and 12th sacks of the season in Week 13, as the Eagles lost to the Seahawks, 31-14. He added two tackles.
Analysis: Babin is just a sack away from establishing a new career high. He set his previous career high in 2010, as he racked up 12 1/2 with Tennessee. The 31-year-old is peaking late in his career, but at the right time for Fantasy owners, as Babin should be considered a good DL option in IDP Fantasy leagues.
