News: The Jaguars released wide receiver Lee Evans on Sunday. Jacksonville will eat a $250,000 signing bonus Evans was paid in April.
Analysis: The Jaguars gave up on Evans and we're not sure he'll find another place on an NFL roster this season. Unless that happens in the right situation, Evans will be a player to avoid this year.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports that receiver Lee Evans agreed to a one-year deal with the Jaguars. Evans was a first-round draft pick in Buffalo when Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey was the head coach there. He spent seven seasons with the Bills and last season with the Ravens. During his time with the Bills, Evans had 1,000-yard receiving years in 2006 and 2008. Baltimore acquired Evans in a trade before the 2011 season. He only played in nine games because of injuries and started two last season.
Analysis: Evans will likely start for the Jaguars opposite fellow new addition Laurent Robinson. Evans has the chance to revive his career in Jacksonville, but he will also have growing pains with young quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who is in his second year. Evans is not worth drafting in the majority of leagues, but he is worth keeping an eye on in case he can be added off the waiver wire.
News: The Ravens have officially released wide receiver Lee Evans. The veteran receiver caught four passes for 74 yards in nine games. General manager Ozzie Newsome said in a statement that he would consider re-signing Evans.
Analysis: Evans struggled to stay healthy and then in the AFC title game couldn't hold on to a pass in the end zone that would have pushed the Ravens to a Super Bowl berth. It's amazing that a guy who caught seven touchdowns three years ago and had over 1,000 yards four years ago has fallen this far. We'll see if Evans lands a gig this offseason but chances are owners shouldn't bother touching him until it's clear that he's healthy and clear that he's a key part of an offense.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens are expected to release wide receiver Lee Evans. The veteran receiver caught four passes for 74 yards in nine games.

News: Ravens WR Lee Evans returned to the starting lineup Week 16 against the Browns after Anquan Boldin was shelved because of knee surgery. Unfortunately, Evans failed to make an impact in a 20-14 win. He recorded no catches on four targets.
Analysis: The Ravens thought they were getting a steal when they traded for Evans right before the season began. Unfortunately, Evans has been slowed by an ankle injury and has just four catches this season. He had a great opportunity to step up against Cleveland, but Evans was held in check. Evans is not a recommended Fantasy start heading into Week 17 at Cincinnati.
News: The news of Ravens WR Anquan Boldin missing the final two games of the regular season because of knee surgery benefits WR Lee Evans, who will now play a more prominent role on offense heading into Week 16 against the Browns. "I've been working to get back to this point and now I'm getting an opportunity," said Evans, who has been hobbled by an ankle injury in 2011.
Analysis: Evans has played the last five games after missing seven, but he has just two catches since returning. Now, his reps and targets should go up. But he doesn't get a favorable matchup in Week 16. The Browns are allowing WRs to average 118.9 yards and 13.9 Fantasy points per week, which is the lowest average in the NFL. Even with more PT, Evans is still a desperation Fantasy start Week 16.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans was a non-factor in Week 15 against the Chargers. He posted zero catches on four targets in the 34-14 loss.
Analysis: Evans has been held without a catch in two out of the last three games as injuries and inconsistent play have hindered much of his 2011 campaign. While he has some big-play ability, leave the 30-year-old reserved in the majority of Fantasy formats down the stretch.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans has just two catches for 29 yards over his last four games. He missed seven straight with an ankle injury, but coach Jim Harbaugh said Evans' workload was going to increase now that he's healthy. While he's been on the field he's just not getting many chances to contribute. In Week 15 the Ravens face the Chargers.
Analysis: Evans is not one of the top receiving targets on the team, so that doesn't help his Fantasy value. The Chargers also boast a top-five defense against the pass. They are allowing 211 receiving yards per game, but have been burned for 22 touchdowns through the air. Opposing receivers are averaging 19.31 Fantasy points per contest against the Chargers this season. Until Evans actually does something on the field, he's not worth starting in Fantasy leagues, especially with playoffs here.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday he plans to increase WR Lee Evans' workload over the next few games. Evans missed seven consecutive games with an ankle injury but returned two games ago. Evans is rotating in three-WR packages. Harbaugh also wants Evans to work in two-WR packages as well.
Analysis: Evans has caught just one pass for 8 yards since returning from his injury and has not been as productive as owners thought he would be when he came over from the Bills in the offseason. It looks as though the Ravens want to get him more involved on offense so keep an eye on his progress going forward. While Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith have become favorites of Joe Flacco, he should be able to slide into the No. 3 WR role. With Cleveland up next on the schedule, continue to view Evans as more of a low-end Fantasy WR at this point.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans netted one catch for eight yards during the Ravens 16-6 victory over San Francisco in Week 12 on Thursday night. Evans reception late in the third quarter was his first since the second game of the season. He finished with one target from QB Joe Flacco.
Analysis: Evans was sidelined for seven games with an ankle injury before returning to action last week. His role in the offense has been overtaken by rookie Torrey Smith, who finished with two receptions for 23 yards. With his role diminished, consider Evans a low-end Fantasy option for Week 13 at Cleveland.
News: After overcoming an ankle injury, Baltimore WR Lee Evans made his long-awaited return to the lineup during the Ravens' win over Cincinnati in Week 11. Evans, who did not catch a pass, will look to stay healthy for Baltimore's matchup against San Francisco in Week 12. "As long as he does the right thing, he should be in the right position, and there should be no reason why we can't connect," Ravens QB Joe Flacco said.
Analysis: Evans was eased back into the WR rotation last Sunday and saw one target from Flacco. After missing seven games with the ankle injury, he returns to a crowded receiving corps and rookie Torrey Smith has emerged as a talented deep threat in his place. The 49ers are permitting an average of 22.2 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this year. Still, Evans is not a worthwhile starting Fantasy option for Week 12.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans was active Week 11 against the Bengals for the first time since Week 2 against Tennessee. That said, Evans was only targeted once by QB Joe Flacco and he came away without any catches. "It was good for me to get back and for Joe (Flacco) to throw one out to me," Evans said after the game. For the season, Evans only has two catches for 45 yards. It's unclear how much Evans will play going forward considering the amount of time he's missed.
Analysis: Evans could be in line for a bounce-back performance Week 12 against San Francisco. The 49ers have been unstoppable on defense against the run, but haven't been quite as sharp against the pass this season. In fact, San Francisco had not allowed a rushing touchdown entering Week 11, so if the Ravens hope to score, it will be through the air. Evans should be more involved in the Week 12 game, but should still be avoided as a Fantasy option until he shows something.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans (ankle) is active Week 11 against the Bengals for the first time since Week 2 against Tennessee. For the season, Evans only has two catches for 45 yards. It's unclear how much Evans will play considering the amount of time he's missed.
Analysis: Since his injury, Evans has been overtaken in the passing game by WR Torrey Smith and his looks could be limited now that he's back. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach and stay away from him Week 11.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans is questionable on the team's injury report for Week 11 against Cincinnati with a persistent ankle injury. Evans has missed the past seven games with the injury and his playing status for Sunday's game seems unlikely again. "Hes definitely getting closer," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "Well just have to see how it goes."
Analysis: It seems like Evans will miss another game after Baltimore offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said the receiver would need another week or two of practice before returning to action. Since his injury, Evans has been overtaken in the passing game by WR Torrey Smith and his looks could be limited once he returns. Fantasy owners should continue to keep him reserved only in deeper formats at this point.
News: While Ravens WR Lee Evans is looking to end his long absence from an ankle injury Week 11 vs. Cincinnati, the Carroll County Times reports offensive coordinator Cam Cameron suggests that Evans needs another week or two of practicing before he returns.
Analysis: Evans started practicing last week and has given positive reports about his status. But it seems the Ravens are being very careful with the veteran receiver to avoid another setback. Even if he returns Week 11, Evans is not a recommended Fantasy option until we see how he performs coming off a long layoff.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans has missed seven games with a lingering ankle injury, but he is really hoping he returns Week 11 vs. Cincinnati. "We'll make a determination late in the week," Evans said Wednesday. "Last week was real positive. So, this week could be even better and I'll have a real shot. You can see how it responds throughout the week. I'm optimistic about this week. It has been tough, but you go through different things throughout a season and a career. This is just another obstacle. Hopefully, we're on the tail end of it and we can put it behind us."
Analysis: Evans returned to practice last week, but was still inactive. He said he is able to run and cut at full speed. "I was able to do it last week," Evans said. "That shouldn't change any. Last week was real positive." The Ravens could definitely use Evans for a big divisional game this week. Still, even if he returns, Evans is not a recommended Fantasy option until we see how he performs coming off a long layoff.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans was ruled inactive for Week 10 against Seattle, despite reports that he may play. He has now missed seven games with this ankle injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to watch Evans during the week to see if he'll be able to come back in Week 11 against the Bengals. But until he proves he's 100 percent, Fantasy owners should not be starting Evans.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed six straight games with an ankle injury, practiced for a third straight day Friday as the team prepares for Week 10 at Seattle. Coach John Harbaugh said that Evans has an "outside chance" to return to the lineup this weekend. However, he is listed as doubtful.
Analysis: The Ravens probably want to see how Evans' ankle holds up this weekend and in pregame workouts Sunday before making a final decision. Even if Evans returns, you won't want to start him in Fantasy with no teams on byes. Let Evans prove his worth before activating him in Fantasy.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last six games with an ankle injury, said he didn't suffer any setbacks and was able to practice again Thursday. His status for Week 10 at Seattle is still to be determined, however. Receivers are averaging 20.8 Fantasy points per game against the Seahawks. Seattle has been allowing 242.4 passing yards per contest and given up 10 passing touchdowns in eight games.
Analysis: The Ravens have said all along that they planned for Evans to return in 2011 and that seems to be the case. While he is doing well this week, there is still no guarantee he will return Sunday. Even if Evans plays in Week 10, this is not the time to activate him in Fantasy. Let's see how he fits into the Ravens offense once healthy before relying on him again in Fantasy.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed the last six games with a lingering ankle injury, said Wednesday he plans on testing his injured ankle in practice this week. He remains optimistic that he might return to the lineup Week 10 at Seattle. Opposing team's receivers are averaging 20.75 Fantasy points per game against the Seahawks this year. Seattle has been allowing 242.4 passing yards per contest and given up 10 passing touchdowns in eight games.
Analysis: While Evans sounds optimistic, he still has to see how his ankle feels after testing it in practice. The Ravens continue to say Evans will be back this season, but Torrey Smith has emerged as a viable target opposite Anquan Boldin, so they can afford to be patient with Evans. Even if the veteran receiver returns in Week 10, leave him on Fantasy benches until we see how he fits into the offense moving forward.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans did not practice again Friday and was ruled out for Week 9 at Pittsburgh. Evans missed practice throughout the week as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. He has not played since Sept. 18 and will miss his sixth consecutive game with the injury.
Analysis: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team has not discussed placing Evans on season-ending injured reserve and will continue to provide him time to recover. "That's the plan," Evans told the Baltimore Sun on Friday. "The big thing is to let it heal up." Evans has just two receptions for 45 yards this season and has not topped 50 catches since the 2008 season. He is certainly a candidate to drop in most Fantasy formats.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans was unable to practice for the second day in a row Thursday as he continues to deal with a troublesome ankle injury. Evans has missed the Ravens' past five games with the issue and his availability for Week 9 at Pittsburgh is uncertain.
Analysis: Baltimore has not established a timetable for Evans' return, but Fantasy owners shouldn't be relying on him anyway. Evans has just two receptions for 45 yards this season. If there are better WR alternatives on your waiver wire, Evans could be an option to drop.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed the last five games due to an ankle injury, did not return to practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 9 at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Evans continues to say he will return this season, but we still don't have a timetable for that. The fact he is still not practicing makes his Week 9 outlook bleak. Continue to stay away from Evans in Fantasy.
News: As expected, Baltimore WR Lee Evans was ruled inactive for Week 8 against Arizona because of an ankle injury. Evans was already listed out for the game, the fifth consecutive outing he will miss because of the setback.
Analysis: Evans was expected to serve as a quality compliment to WR Anquan Boldin, but has just two receptions for 45 yards. He continues to state he will play again this season, but there is no timetable for his return. Fantasy owners should only consider reserving him in deeper formats at this point.
News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans was ruled out for Week 8 against Arizona as he continues to be bothered by an ankle injury. Evans did not practice throughout the week and will miss his fifth consecutive game because of the injury. He has not played since Sept. 18 against Tennessee.
Analysis: Evans' first year with the Ravens certainly hasn't gone as expected as injuries have derailed his season. The 30-year-old was expected to serve as a quality compliment to WR Anquan Boldin, but has just two receptions for 45 yards. Evans continues to state he will play again this season, but there is no timetable for his return. Fantasy owners should only consider reserving him in deeper formats at this point.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans told the media Thursday that he hopes to play in the next few weeks, signaling he isn't expected to return Week 8 against the Cardinals. Evans has missed the last four games with an ankle injury. "I've made a lot of progress it feels a lot better but there's still pain soreness," Evans said. "That's just where we're at now. It's a lot better than it had been at any point really since the Pittsburgh game. So, that's positive. It's just kind of getting over this last little hump. We've made a ton of progress and it's just a little bit more to go. It's kind of like when you're trying to lose 20 pounds, the last five is the hardest. So right now, we're just trying to lose that last five."
Analysis: Evans was brought in to help take some of the defensive pressure off Anquan Boldin. Unfortunately, his body hasn't allowed him to do that. Evans is still adamant about returning this season, but keep him reserved in Fantasy until he proves healthy and productive.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed the last four games with an ankle injury, did not return to practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 8 vs. Arizona.
Analysis: Evans said last week that he intends to return this season, but this ankle injury continues to linger. Even if he returns Week 8, he will not be a recommended Fantasy option until he proves healthy and productive.
News: Baltimore receiver Lee Evans (ankle) couldn't even attend practice on Saturday in preparation for the Week 7 Monday night game in Jacksonville. Evans is expected to miss the game and was officially ruled out later Saturday as he continued having treatment sessions while the Ravens practiced.
Analysis: Evans was able to practice some last week but was still inactive for the third straight game this past Sunday. Perhaps if the Ravens weren't 4-1 and were struggling, then there would be more urgency for him to play through his injury. However, he is getting the time to rest. Evans won't suit up Week 7, so Fantasy owners should not be considering him.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans was held out of practice for the second straight day on Friday in preparation for Week 7 against the Jaguars. Evans has not played since Week 2 due to an ankle injury. Jacksonville enters Monday night ranked eighth in the league against the pass, giving up over 210 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 17 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. If Evans is unable to go in Week 7, Torrey Smith will likely continue to start.

News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed three games with a lingering left ankle injury did not practice on Thursday. Torrey Smith has been starting in his absence. Evans told the Carroll County Times this week that he expects to play again this season.
Analysis: Perhaps if the Ravens weren't 4-1 and were struggling, then there would be more urgency for Evans to play through his injury. However, he is getting the time to rest. Even if Evans returns in Week 7, he is not a recommended Fantasy option. Let Evans prove healthy and productive before inserting him back into your Fantasy lineup.

Even if Evans returns in Week 7, he is not a recommended Fantasy option. Let Evans prove healthy and productive before inserting him back into your Fantasy lineup.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans was inactive for the third straight game in Week 6 against the Texans as he continued to deal with an ankle injury. Torrey Smith got the start in his place.
Analysis: Evans has caught just two passes for 45 yards so far this season but has shown in the past that he can be a viable Fantasy WR, when healthy. Keep him stashed away in all formats until he is able to return.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that he doesn't seen WR Lee Evans playing Week 6 against the Texans, meaning Torrey Smith will start a third straight game. Evans continues to he hobbled by an ankle injury, which Harbaugh called "disappointing." Evans was eventually ruled out on the injury report.
Analysis: Even if Evans was going to play Sunday, he was going to be a risky Fantasy start. Now, Fantasy owners don't have to be faced with that decision. Look to healthier alternatives, which include Smith.
News: The Ravens are hopeful they get WR Lee Evans (ankle) back this week. He practiced Wednesday but was a no-show on Thursday. His condition hasn't improved in almost two months, which is increasingly worrisome. If Evans can't go Sunday against the Texans, then WR Torrey Smith will earn another start. Houston enters Sunday ranked sixth in the league against the pass, giving up over 208 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 24 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
Analysis: Evans said Monday he won't be sure about his Week 6 status until he sees how his ankle holds up during the week. Well, the fact he had to skip a practice isn't a good sign. The team is hoping that the bye in Week 5 provided enough rest for Evans to return to action, but only time will tell. Even if Evans plays in Week 6, he will be a very low-end Fantasy option since he needs to prove healthy and productive before we can trust him again.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, practiced Wednesday. His status for Week 6 against the Texans will be determined later in the week.
The team is hoping that the bye in Week 5 provided enough rest for Evans to return to action, but only time will tell. Even if Evans plays in Week 6, he will be a very low-end Fantasy option since he needs to prove healthy and productive before we can trust him again.
News: The Carroll County Times reports Ravens WR Lee Evans, who has been battling an ankle injury, isn't sure if he will return to the lineup Week 6 against the Texans. However, he said his left ankle feels better and he practiced more extensively Monday. "It feels better but tomorrow might be a different story," he said. "I think were on the right path. The goal is to play without being hampered."
Analysis: Evans used the bye in Week 5 to rest up, but like he said he is going to have to see how his ankle reacts now that he is back to work. Even if Evans plays in Week 6, he will be a very low-end Fantasy option since he needs to prove healthy and productive before we can trust him again.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans was listed among the inactives for Week 4 against the Jets due to a lingering ankle injury. Torrey Smith will continue to start in his absence.
Analysis: The Ravens are hurt more by Evans' absence than Fantasy owners. If Evans played Sunday, then he could have at least been used as a decoy against a very good Jets secondary. Fantasy owners should continue to stash Evans in Fantasy. Clearly, Smith owners benefit from Evans' absence, but it is a tough matchup.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Lee Evans won't play Week 4 against the Jets as he missed the practice week still reeling from a lingering ankle injury. An MRI revealed that Evans ankle doesnt have any cracks or fractures. But Harbaugh said theyll likely have another MRI done soon. Im worried about it now, Harbaugh said. Its lasted longer than I thought it would." Evans was also out Week 3 while rookie Torrey Smith had a breakout performance
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) did not practice again Thursday as the team prepares for Week 4 against the Jets. New York ranks sixth in the league against the pass, giving up just under 189 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 17 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
Analysis: Evans said on Wednesday he was unsure if he would play Week 4 and the fact he is still missing practice isn't helping his cause. You have to wonder if the Ravens remain comfortable with giving Evans another week off after Torrey Smith had a breakout performance in Week 3 against the Rams. However, that was the Rams, who have secondary problems. The Jets are stout on defense, so even if Evans can play as a decoy that would help the offense. Even if Evans returns in Week 4, he would not be a recommended Fantasy option. Prepare to start healthier alternatives.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans said Wednesday that his ankle is improving with the extra time off, but he still isn't sure about his playing status for Week 4 against the Jets.
Analysis: You have to wonder if the Ravens remain comfortable with giving Evans another week off after Torrey Smith had a breakout performance in Week 3 against the Rams. However, that was the Rams, who have secondary problems. The Jets are stout on defense, so even if Evans can play as a decoy that would help the offense. Even if Evans returns in Week 4, he would not be a recommended Fantasy option.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports that Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) said on Sunday, before being deactivated for Week 3 at St. Louis, that he is unsure about his status for Week 4 against the Jets. Its still too early to say, he said. Were just going to take it day by day like we have been doing. So well see. Coach John Harbaugh added in his Monday press conference that he is also unsure about Evans' status for Week 4 and he will evaluated as the week progresses.
Analysis: Evans said the ankle is feeling better, helped by the rest he has been getting. It does feel better, he said. The rest definitely helps it feel better. So hopefully, we can get it to the point where it feels good enough to play on. Thats really the goal. Rookie Torrey Smith enjoyed a massive breakout game in his absence on Sunday, indicating that the team has the luxury of taking their time with Evans to ensure he comes back 100 percent. Follow up on his status for Week 4 throughout the week, but Fantasy owners should be flocking to Smith off the waiver wire in the meantime.
News: Ravens RB Lee Evans has officially been ruled inactive for Week 3 against the Rams. Evans was downgraded to out on Friday due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: The Ravens want to get Evans as close to 100 percent as possible before putting him back on the field, so he will sit Sunday against the Rams. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward to see if he will be able to play in Week 4 against the Jets. Leave Evans stashed in the meantime.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) has been downgraded to out for Week 3 against the Rams. He was expecting to be a game-time decision.
Analysis: There you have it folks. It seems the Ravens want to get Evans as close to 100 percent as possible before putting him back on the field, so he will sit Sunday against the Rams. That means rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss could get involved at receiver opposite Anquan Boldin. Make sure to reserve Evans in all Fantasy formats.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) said he will be a game-time decision on Sunday against the Rams. "(I feel) a little better," he said. "Rest helps." Evans hasn't practiced all week. If he can't play Sunday, the Ravens will be down to four WRs for the St. Louis game.
Analysis: Evans hasn't been able to shake this ankle injury, which mostly bothers him in and out of cuts. If Evans does play on Sunday, he will be facing a Rams team that boasts the league's fifth-best pass defense, allowing 174 yards a game. St. Louis has also surrendered an average of 22 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season, which ranks 22nd overall. Leave Evans on your Fantasy bench until he proves healthy and productive.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) was not at practice on Thursday, according to MASNSports.com. He had said on Wednesday that he hoped to return to practice on Thursday, but that was not the case. Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters Monday that Evans' injured ankle has been affecting his play and his status hasn't improved in the last month.
Analysis: Evans didn't really look like the injury was bothering him too much on Sunday against Tennessee, especially when he hauled in a 32-yard catch. But apparently Evans is trying to play through an injury that just isn't getting better. If Evans does play on Sunday, he will be facing a Rams team that boasts the league's fifth best pass defense, allowing 174 yards a game. St. Louis has also surrendered an average of 22 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season, which ranks 22nd overall. Leave Evans on your Fantasy bench until he proves healthy and productive. The Ravens play the Rams in Week 3.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters Monday that WR Lee Evans' injured ankle has been affecting his play and his status hasn't improved in the last month. Evans, who was held out of practice Wednesday as Baltimore prepares for Week 3 at St. Louis, echoed his coach's sentiments on Wednesday. He added that he isn't sure if resting the ankle will help his chances of getting to 100 percent. He hopes to practice Thursday. I can still run, but as far as playing the game comfortably and confidently, it has been hard, Evans said. Cutting on routes and changing speed throughout a game is whats causing the biggest problem. Thats where Im getting into a little bit of trouble, Evans said.

The Ravens play the Rams in Week 3.
News: Although Lee Evans has played in the first two games despite a lingering ankle injury, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday that the injury is "affecting him." "There's no doubt about that. We'll have to look at that," Harbaugh added.
Analysis: Evans didn't really look like the injury was bothering him too much on Sunday against Tennessee, especially when he hauled in a 32-yard catch. But apparently Evans is trying to play through an injury that just isn't getting better. Leave Evans on your Fantasy bench until he proves healthy and productive. The Ravens play the Rams in Week 3.
News: After being held without a catch in Week 1, Ravens WR Lee Evans finally got on the board in Week 2 against the Titans. Evans ended up with two catches for 45 yards, with his long reception being 32 yards. Evans was targeted five times in the game.
Analysis: Evans has had a lingering ankle/foot injury the last few weeks, but he hasn't missed a regular season game and looked pretty comfortable on the field in Week 2. It's just that he is new to this offense and still trying to build rapport with QB Joe Flacco. The Ravens love Evans' presence because he takes pressure off Anquan Boldin, but he is still a very low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 3 against the Rams.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) is active for Week 2 at Tennessee after being probable on the injury report.
Analysis: Evans is looking for better results in Week 2 after going without a catch in Week 1. He has a good history against the Titans, recording at least one touchdown in his two career games against Tennessee. He has nine catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns in those contests. However, Evans is at best a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 2.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) practiced for a second straight day Friday in prep for Week 2 against the Titans and coach John Harbaugh said Evans is "going to play" Sunday. Evans said Thursday that he expected to play Sunday. "Absolutely, I plan on playing on Sunday," Evans said. "But we'll have to see. You got to take it day by day and see what happens." Evans has a pretty good history against the Titans when he was with the Bills. Evans recorded at least one touchdown in his two career games against Tennessee. He has nine catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns in those contests. The Titans allowed Jaguars WRs to total 12 catches for 108 yards in Week 1.
Analysis: Evans has been dealing with his foot/ankle injury since late in the preseason. He didn't come through in Week 1 for the Ravens, and you have to think that maybe the injury played a part in his poor performance. But even if Evans doesn't show up in the stat column his presence for the Ravens is huge since it helps take some of the defensive pressure off of WR Anquan Boldin. Evans has a good history against Tennessee, but he is at best a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 2.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (ankle) is hopeful he will play Week 2 against the Titans. He said sitting out of practice Wednesday was precautionary and he did participate in practice Thursday that was open to the media. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron added Thursday that he is not concerned about Evans' injury.
The fact he is missing practice time with Joe Flacco isn't good either since Evans still needs to build rapport with his QB. Evans has a good history against Tennessee, but even if he plays in Week 2, then Evans is at best a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans did not practice Wednesday and had his left foot in a protective boot again, reports the Carroll County Times. Evans, who failed to record a catch in Week 1, injured his left foot late in the preseason. The Ravens play the Titans in Week 2. Evans has a pretty good history against the Titans when he was with the Bills. Evans recorded at least one touchdown in his two career games against Tennessee. He has nine catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns in those contests. The Titans allowed Jaguars WRs to total 12 catches for 108 yards in Week 1.
Analysis: You have to start to think that Evans' poor performance in Week 1 might have had to do with his lingering foot problem or else he would have been more effective in the passing game. The Ravens would love nothing more for Evans to repeat his impressive history against the Titans in Week 2. But clearly the circumstances have changed for Evans. In 2006 and 2009 against Tennessee, Evans was arguably the Bills top playmaker at receiver. Now that he is with the Ravens he is at best the No. 2 receiver and still trying to build rapport with QB Joe Flacco after being a late addition in the preseason. Evans not only has to contend with Anquan Boldin in the passing game for targets, but Ray Rice, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson also vie for Flacco's attention. Consider Evans at best a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option in Week 2, if he ends up playing.
News: WR Lee Evans had a pretty disappointing regular-season debut with the Ravens in Week 1 against the Steelers by recording no catches. He will look for much better results heading into Week 2 against the Titans.

News: Baltimore WR Lee Evans did not have a good start to his career with the Ravens on Sunday against Pittsburgh. Despite the Ravens winning 35-7 over the Steelers, Evans had a couple drops as he was targeted four times but did not come down with a catch in his debut with his new team.
Analysis: Baltimore's Joe Flacco spread the ball around and found six different players to catch passes for him. Evans was not one of them as he dropped all four passes that came his way. The four targets Evans received actually placed him fourth on the team, but he came away empty. There will be better games in Evans' future, but he's tough to recommend outside the flex position for Week 2 at Tennessee.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (foot) was able to practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 1 against the Steelers. Evans is expected to play Sunday.
Analysis: Evans is happy to be in Baltimore as he now joins a contender. However, the Ravens have a pretty balanced offense, and Evans isn't the first option to get the ball to. He will be a big part of the passing game and still could have a good season. But Evans is looking at best a No. 4 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 1 against a very good Steelers secondary.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans (foot) returned to practice Monday after missing last week. "I was able to move, run and cut and make a few plays," Evans said. "It was good to run around. Evans is expected to play Sunday against Pittsburgh in the season opener.
Analysis: After seven seasons in Buffalo, WR Lee Evans is happy to be in Baltimore. Every game you have a chance to win, Evans said. Theres a thin line between winning and losing and you have to be at the top of your game to win." The veteran was never expected to miss the game, and he is set for some debut in perhaps the best rivalry in the league. Evans has the potential to be a quality WR option for the Ravens and Fantasy owners. Check him out as a quality reserve with potential to be a stud in some weeks considering they have a favorable schedule.
News: The Carroll County Times reports that the Baltimore Ravens expect veteran wide receiver Lee Evans to return soon from an injury that had his left foot in a boot, according to offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. "Sure, absolutely," Cameron said. "He's in meetings, he's bouncing around. I don't have an exact timetable, but yeah we would like to think he'll come back pretty quick." Evans hasn't practiced for the past few days.
Analysis: Evans' injury isn't considered serious. He's been able to stand on his left foot without issue and perform stretching exercises. He looks like a safe pick in the middle-to-late rounds on Draft Day. He has the potential to be a quality WR option for the Ravens and Fantasy owners. Check him out as a quality reserve with potential to be a stud in some weeks. Remember, the Ravens' schedule is very good this season.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports that WR Lee Evans (foot) missed a second consecutive practice on Monday. Evans was held out of Saturday's practice and was seen wearing a protective boot on his left foot. He was absent on Monday.
Analysis: Evans has been making a good impression with his new team and is looking like a solid option for Joe Flacco. Fantasy owners should monitor his status heading into Thursday's preseason contest with Atlanta to see how much he plays, if at all. News: According to the Carroll County Times, Baltimore WR Lee Evans' left foot was in a walking boot on Saturday. He did not practice, but the team said the injury doesn't seem serious. Evans caught a 35-yard touchdown pass on Thursday night.
Analysis: Evans has been making a good impression with his new team and is looking like a solid option for Joe Flacco. Evans has shown his speed so far this preseason, so hopefully this foot issue doesn't affect him moving forward. Fantasy owners should monitor his status heading into Thursday's preseason contest with Atlanta to see how much he plays. Evans looks like a safe pick in the middle-to-late rounds on Draft Day. He has the potential to be a quality WR option for the Ravens and Fantasy owners.
News:Lee Evans' deep-ball skills were on display Friday vs. the Chiefs. Making his Ravens debut, Evans caught three passes for 68 yards including a gorgeous 43-yard catch down the left sideline from Joe Flacco. Evans caught all three passes he was targeted for and finished with better numbers than Anquan Boldin, who couldn't hook up with Flacco despite multiple deep-ball attempts.
Analysis: Evans is starting to look pretty good to us. Not only might he be more involved that we initially thought in the Ravens offense, but he seems to be up to speed and can use his deep-ball game to put up some good numbers. It only helps that Fantasy owners can find him in the middle/late rounds. Check him out as a quality reserve with potential to be a stud in some weeks. Remember, the Ravens' schedule is very good this season.
News: Ravens WR Lee Evans is making a quick and favorable impression with his new team. Last week, coach John Harbaugh talked about his early impressions of the veteran. Now, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and quarterback Joe Flacco are raving about Evans. The people that I have talked to talk about what a pro he is [and] how hard he works," Cameron told reporters Monday. "Obviously, he made some plays against us last year, in our own stadium. We saw it live. We know what gameday looks like and feels like, because he can run. The thing that caught my attention was He had been here 10 minutes and we ran a 9 route and he got on top of the corner. Joe [Flacco] says to me, That felt different. Then he got right on top of a corner on the next one and Joe underthrew him. I think there is a speed and an explosion that feels a little different that I think every team needs and is nice to have.
Analysis: The Ravens needed a proven receiver across from Anquan Boldin while rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss acclimate to the speed of the pro game. They went out and got Evans, who is going to be a big part of the passing game. He should easily play the same role that Derrick Mason did in 2010. Mason recorded 61 catches for 802 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Consider Evans a viable No. 4 Fantasy WR on Draft Day.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh gave his first impression of WR Lee Evans, who was traded from Buffalo this week. He didnt miss a beat," Harbaugh said. "He acted like he knew what we were doing. We were only in a meeting for 10 minutes, it wasnt like he knew any of the plays.
Analysis: Evans is now expected to start opposite Anquan Boldin and become the No. 2 WR in Baltimore. This move is great for Evans since he goes to a team with an established QB in Joe Flacco and escapes the situation with the Bills. Evans should be considered a No. 4 Fantasy WR with upside, and he's worth drafting in all leagues with a late-round pick.
News: According to ESPN, the Bills have traded WR Lee Evans to the Ravens. Baltimore needed help at the WR position after losing Derrick Mason as a free agent, and the Bills have been shopping Evans in a trade. The move makes sense for both sides.

News:The Buffalo News reports Bills WR Lee Evans didn't have much to say Wednesday in response to a trade rumor that leaked Tuesday from an Arizona radio station stating the the Cardinals had interest in acquiring the veteran receiver. "I dont really know," Evans said about the rumor. "Obviously thats something thats out of my control. Theres always rumors like that out there so well just have to see what happens." Evans seems happy in Buffalo, especially since coach Chan Gailey has worked to get the receivers more involved on offense. "Theyve done some things this year to try to move things around to try to accommodate that so well see what happens," Evans said.
Analysis: The Bills added Brad Smith and Craig Davis this offseason to a receiving corps that already features Lee, Steve Johnson, Roscoe Parrish, David Nelson, Donald Jones, Naaman Roosevelt and Marcus Easley. Evans is clearly one of the best receivers in the bunch, but with a surplus of bodies, trading Evans could be an option. As of now, he is expected to start opposite Johnson and be one of Ryan Fitzpatrick's top targets. Consider Evans a late-round Fantasy pick.
News: Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick told WGR-AM in Buffalo that he expects WR Lee Evans to have a bigger role in 2011. Evans' stats were diminished last year thanks to the rise of teammate Steve Johnson. The veteran finished with 37 catches for 578 yards and four touchdowns and missed the last three contests due to an ankle injury. "I'm looking to get (Evans) way more involved in the offense this year," Fitzpatrick said. "Some of the attention will go off him and he won't see the constant double-team."
Analysis: Head coach Chan Gailey has also said that he will involve Evans more in the upcoming season, making use of his deep-ball skills. There's plenty of room for improvement for Evans, but the reality is that many owners will draft him to be a reserve wideout. That's a good thing -- Evans can be had late in drafts and stashed on benches. If he breaks out, owners have a steal on their hands. If he doesn't, then owners could cut him with minimal damage to their teams. So long as Evans is being swiped with a late-round pick, there's really no major risk in taking him.
News: The Buffalo News reports that Bills WR Lee Evans is anxious for 2011 to start because he has struggled the past two seasons. He posted career lows in catches (44) and yards (612) in 2009, and was worse last season. Evans finished with 37 catches for 578 yards and four touchdowns and missed the last three contests due to an ankle injury. "It's the first time I've really been injured and missed a game, so there is a desire to get back and play again because I feel like I missed a part of it," Evans said. "It's good to get back into this, it's good to get that competitive spirit back amongst the guys and try to hope for the best that things work out." Evans wants to prove this year he can elevate his game to where it used to be. "I go into every year with high expectations for myself and try to give myself the best opportunity to be at the level I know I can be at," he said. "Every year is the same for me, and this year is no different. I'm going to come in and attack the season and try to make the best of the opportunities I get."
Analysis: We expect Evans to play better in 2011 than he has the past two years, but he has to prove it first. Steve Johnson has emerged as a go-to target for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Evans has to be more consistent on a weekly basis. He's worth a late-round flier in deep leagues, and if he starts out the season playing well then he should be added off the waiver wire.
News: Bills head coach Chan Gailey didn't sound like a guy ready to part ways with WR Lee Evans, even though Evans had a career-worst year in 2010 that ended with him on injured reserve. Gailey cited Evans' route-running as something the veteran needed to work on, but also admitted that he should expand Evans' route tree and give him more threatening plans all over the field. "He's been more of a deep threat," Gailey told the Buffalo News. "I've got to get him to do a better job of becoming an underneath threat. I've got to do a better job of that."
Analysis: Evans isn't going to be on anyone's wish list come Draft Day this summer, but he will prove to be a reasonable selection if he's available late in drafts. Lest we forget that he swooned in 2009, Evans was a 1,000-yard candidate as the Bills' top receiver. If the Bills can capitalize on Steve Johnson's breakout season and keep defenses tuned in to him, then there will be room for Evans to shine. Keep his name in mind when you're searching for late-round fliers.
News: The official team website for the Bills reports that WR Lee Evans, who had his season cut short by an ankle injury from which hell fully recover, might not return to Buffalo in 2011. When asked if he could see Evans not on this roster in 2011, Gailey didnt see that being the case, but he did not completely rule it out. Well I doubt it, said Gailey. But Im not gonna say anythings impossible. But when you look at it, to me that group that you mentioned, including Lee Evans, gives us a quality receiving corps going into the season. Its going to be hard for, if all those guys stay healthy and all of them do what we expect them to do the advantage is they cant lock in on any one guy. The disadvantage is nobodys going to have any great stats because the balls going to be spread around. Thats what happened. They go over and double cover Lee the first half of the season so the other side gets all the catches. Thats kind of what happened. I dont know how its going to work out next year. I just know its a much better position were walking into this year than we were walking into last year ona lot of spots on the offensive side of the ball.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Evans this offseason and also make sure his ankle is back at 100 percent. If he returns to Buffalo he would be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR at best worth a late-round pick. If he goes elsewhere, especially to a team with a better QB, then Evans' value could increase.
News: The Bills placed WR Lee Evans on injured reserve Tuesday. He hurt his ankle in Week 14 against the Browns.
Analysis: Coach Chan Gailey feared that Evans might have to miss the remainder of the season and it came true Tuesday. The Bills are out of the playoff picture, so there is no need for them to rush Evans back. He is only worth holding onto in long-term Fantasy keeper leagues.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has never missed a game in his career, playing in 109 straight games, including 71 consecutive start, but that streak is about to end. Evans may miss the rest of the season because of an ankle injury he suffered Week 14 against the Browns. "Not good," coach Chan Gailey said. "I know he's going to miss one or two (games). I don't know if he'll miss the rest of them or not." Evans was injured at the end of Jonathan Stupar's 35-yard reception that led to Rian Lindell's 30-yard field goal and gave the Bills a 10-6 halftime lead. He was trailing Stupar on the play, and tumbled down behind the tight end. He did not have a catch before leaving.
Analysis: If Evans' season really is over, then it comes to a disappointing end. Evans has been fairly quiet for Fantasy owners since a three-touchdown game in Week 7 against the Ravens. He does have some long catches down the field, but Evans hasn't scored since Week 7 and that has hurt his Fantasy appeal. He is primarily a low-end Fantasy option when healthy and now can probably be dropped in Fantasy since his status for the rest of the season is up in the air.
News: Buffalo Bills receiver Lee Evans hurt his ankle in the second quarter and did not return against Cleveland in Week 14. Evans was injured at the end of Jonathan Stupar's 35-yard reception that led to Rian Lindell's 30-yard field goal and gave the Bills a 10-6 halftime lead. He was trailing Stupar on the play, and tumbled down behind the tight end. He did not have a catch before leaving.
Analysis: Evans has been fairly quiet for Fantasy owners since a three-touchdown game in Week 7 against the Ravens. He does have some long catches down the field, but Evans hasn't scored since Week 7 and that has hurt his Fantasy appeal. He is primarily a low-end Fantasy option when healthy, and if he's hurt then you can safely drop him. We'll have an update later in the week, so stay tuned. He has never missed a game in his career, playing in 109 straight games, including 71 consecutive start. The Bills play the Dolphins in Week 15.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will try to return to the end zone for the first time since late October when Cleveland comes to town in Week 14. The Browns have allowed opposing WR corps to average 20.8 Fantasy points this season, which ranks them pretty much in the middle of the pack. They haven't given up a touchdown to a WR in their last two games, however, and the last 100-yard receiving game they allowed to a WR was back in Week 7.
Analysis: Evans has been the main deep threat for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick over the last month, with a per-catch average of 24 yards or more in three of his last four games. Unfortunately, he hasn't found the end zone lately and has three or fewer catches in five straight games. With the possibility of bad weather on Sunday, Evans looks like a sit option in Week 14, so avoid him if you can in Fantasy play.
News: The Bills were routed by the Vikings in Week 13 by the score of 38-14, but that didn't stop WR Lee Evans from having a solid game. Bouncing back from a quiet Week 12 performance against Pittsburgh, Evans led the team with six targets and made three catches for 72 yards. His biggest play of the day came in the fourth quarter when he made a 26-yard reception that brought the ball to the Vikings' eight-yard line. However, three plays later, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick fumbled the ball on the one-yard line, ending the Bills' drive.
Analysis: Evans happened to have one of his better games this year on a week when the Bills could get precious little going on offense. He has had his share of bad weeks as well, so Evans' inconsistent play makes him no more than a low-end flex option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has only five catches over the past three weeks, as he looks to pick up his pace going into a Week 13 matchup at Minnesota. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has been looking for Evans; he has targeted the veteran receiver 20 times over the last three games and 75 times over the course of the season. Despite the low reception total, Evans has made the most of his limited opportunities, making plays of 43 and 54 yards, respectively, in Weeks 10 and 11. He could run out of luck against the Vikings, who rank seventh in the league in fewest yards allowed per reception.
Analysis: Evans should get his fair share of looks yet again in Week 13, but his spotty production makes him a risky play this week. Owners should not rely on Evans to make big plays, and should use him as a flex option only in the absence of better alternatives.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had his worst outing since Week 4 when he caught just one pass for nine yards and lost a fumble in a Week 12 overtime loss to the Steelers. Evans was targeted seven times.
Analysis: Evans has been mediocre for the most part of the last couple of seasons and will put up a stinker like this on occasion. He has also found the end zone in just two of his 11 games this season, which continues to limit his Fantasy value. In Week 13, Buffalo takes on the Vikings, and Evans should remain just a low-end flex option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will face the Steelers for the third time in his career when Pittsburgh visits Buffalo in Week 12. In the previous two meetings, Evans had just four catches for 80 yards. Evans has averaged just 52.8 yards a game in his last four contests since going off for 105 yards and three touchdowns in Week 7.
Analysis: Evans has been taking a back seat to Steve Johnson lately, and that trend is likely to continue in Week 12 against a Steelers defense that ranks just 22nd against the pass this season. They have been stingy against Fantasy WRs though, as Pittsburgh has allowed just seven touchdowns to receivers. Five of those have come in the last five games, however. Only start Evans this Sunday as a flex option if you have to.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans failed to record 100-plus yards against the Bengals for the first time in his career in Week 11. After breaking 100 yards in his first three games against Cincinnati, the Bengals held Evans to 72 yards in Week 11, but they did come on two catches. His longest catch went 54 yards. Evans was targeted eight times in the game.
Analysis: Evans had some opportunities to produce another 100-yard game against the Bengals, but he couldn't come up with the plays. Fellow receiver Steve Johnson did. Johnson totaled three touchdowns against Cincy. Evans has no scores since his three-touchdown performance in Week 7 against the Ravens. With a tough matchup against the Steelers in Week 12, consider Evans no more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has never had a bad game against the Cincinnati Bengals, his opponents in the Week 11 game. Evans has faced the Bengals three times in his career and he's topped 100 yards and scored a touchdown in each game, totaling 19 catches for 373 yards and three scores. That said, he's entering Week 11 on the heels of making just two catches for 52 yards against the Lions Week 10. The Bills went with a more run-heavy offensive game plan against Detroit and it worked with Fred Jackson having a huge game. More than that, Evans has not topped 56 yards receiving or scored a touchdown in his last three games and he's fallen far behind Steve Johnson as QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's go-top option in the passing game.
Analysis: Evans continues to be a deep-ball threat for the Bills so you can never really count him out in any game. He's always going to threaten for a long TD catch. Just four weeks ago, he caught six passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns at Baltimore. Unfortunately, Cincinnati has been solid against opposing wide receivers this season. The Bengals absolutely shut down a banged up Colts team last Sunday as Reggie Wayne only managed three catches for 34 yards. Collectively, opposing wide receiver corps have only topped 200 yards receiving once against the Bengals all season long. Roddy White and Mike Wallace are the only individual receivers to top 100 yards against Cincinnati all year. Historically, Evans' numbers can't be beat against the Bengals. However, since the last time he faced them was back in 2007, we doubt his history will matter much come Sunday. Evans can be used as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, at best, for the game.
News: WR Lee Evans actually led the Bills in receiving Week 10 against the Lions, but he had only two catches for 52 yards, most of them coming on a 43-yard pass in the second quarter. He wasn't able to contribute much because the Bills went with a run-heavy approach against the Lions' 27th-ranked run defense, giving RB Fred Jackson a season-high 25 carries for 133 yards.
Analysis: The good news is Evans was only one of four receivers targeted, ranking third with five targets. He's back to being one of the preferred targets in the Bills passing attack with Roscoe Parrish out for the year with a broken wrist. The 1-8 Bills will be forced to pass often, so Evans has better days in his future. He deserves a look as a No. 3 Fantasy WR at Cincinnati in Week 11.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who was limited in practice this week by an ankle injury, is active for Week 10 against the Lions. He has yet to miss a game this season.
Analysis: Evans has had two disappointing games after scoring four touchdowns in a two-week span, but with Roscoe Parrish now out for the season, Evans could get more looks in what has become a pass-heavy offense. With a good matchup this week, he's worth starting as a No. 3 WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans (ankle) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. The Bills are preparing to face the Lions in Week 10. Detroit is allowing WRs to average 20.3 Fantasy points per week. Detroit has given up seven touchdowns to receivers, but just two WRs -- DeSean Jackson and Santonio Holmes -- have gone over 100 yards against the Lions.
Analysis: Evans has had two disappointing games after scoring four touchdowns in a two-week span. It has been kind of the story of his season. The passing offense has been much more efficient since Ryan Fitzpatrick has taken over, but Fitzpatrick also likes to throw to Steve Johnson as much as Evans. The loss of Roscoe Parrish likely means more targets for Evans, who is a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 10.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans (ankle) was among six regulars who did not practice on Wednesday, but coach Chan Gailey excepts him to return Thursday. In Week 10, the Bills host the Lions, who sport the NFL's 22nd-ranked pass defense (233.2 yards per game).
Analysis: Wednesday was likely a simply source of extra rest for Evans, who should see more passes come his way after fellow WR Roscoe Parrish was placed on the injured reserve on Tuesday. Evans is normally a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR when healthy, but the loss of Parrish certainly boosts his Fantasy value a bit.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans was targeted eight times in the Week 9 loss to the Bears. He only came down with three catches for 31 yards in the game. He was targeted the third-most amount of times by QB Ryan Fitzpatrick behind Steve Johnson (14) and Roscoe Parrish (11).
Analysis: If Fitzpatrick starts throwing the ball to Parrish more than Evans, you can forget about the veteran's Fantasy value. Owners need to hope and pray the Bears were just keying on Evans and leaving Parrish open. Evans had 16 catches for 248 yards and four touchdowns in his previous three games but had a dud in Week 9. Fantasy owners will hope for a rebound Week 10 against Detroit. The Lions are decent against opposing wide receivers, however. Evans has definitely fallen behind Steve Johnson in terms of being the team's top option in the passing game and we can only call him a No. 3 Fantasy WR, at best, for the Week 10 game.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans has certainly had an interesting season. After making just four receptions in the first two games for 34 yards, the Bills switched quarterbacks to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Things have been better since, but his 11 catches for 192 yards and four touchdowns in consecutive games during Weeks 5 and 7 are his only big games of the year. Last week in Kansas City, Evans managed just 56 yards on five grabs. He's definitely being targeted in the passing game by Fitzpatrick, but so is Steve Johnson, who has emerged as a top receiver as well. Two top receivers on a team that is 0-7 can get crowded.
Analysis: Evans had one huge game in Week 7 at Baltimore in which he had six catches for 105 yards and three scores. Otherwise, he hasn't been much Fantasy owners would celebrate this season. He is facing the Bears in Week 9 and Evans has had one meeting against Chicago in the past. He caught nine passes for 94 yards with a touchdown against them in 2006. The Bears, however, are in the top five in terms of teams limiting Fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. They have given up just three touchdowns to the position this entire season, though two have come in the last two weeks. Evans has a chance to have a solid game but it won't be easy. Owners should consider him a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy option for the game.
News: After a Week 7 performance at Baltimore that included three touchdowns, WR Lee Evans was quiet for most of the Bills' 13-10 overtime loss to the Chiefs in Week 8. He was targeted only once during the first half, and 38 of his 56 receiving yards came during the overtime period. Evans was targeted a total of nine times, resulting in five receptions, none of which was for a touchdown. He also fumbled in the fourth quarter, and initially, the ball appeared to be recovered by Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel, but a review revealed that Vrabel was out of bounds.
Analysis: This was far from Evans' best game, but he is still a favorite target of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has emerged as a viable Fantasy starter. Evans will continue to get targets and should have some big games over the course of the season. He will need to show more consistency before he can start on a weekly basis in standard formats, but at the very least, Evans can be used as a No. 3 Fantasy WR from here on out.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will have to come up with an encore performance in Week 8 against the Chiefs after scoring three times in Week 7. It might not be that difficult seeing how Evans has nine catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns in three career games against K.C. Although, Evans managed just one catch for 11 yards last year against the Chiefs. Kansas City is holding WRs to 17.7 Fantasy points per week, which is eighth lowest in the NFL. Five WRs -- Legedu Naanee, Josh Cribbs, Josh Morgan, Andre Johnson and Mike Sims-Walker -- have scored against K.C. this season.
Analysis: Evans has begun to benefit from Ryan Fitzpatrick running the offense. The emergence of WR Steve Johnson has also helped take some of the pressure off Evans and has allowed him to get open to make plays. Evans is finally getting back to being a respectable Fantasy WR. Consider him a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 8.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans picked up the second three-touchdown game of his career in Week 7 as Buffalo fell in overtime to the Ravens. Evans finished with six receptions on 105 yards and the three scores. He was targeted 10 times.
Analysis: Evans has owned the Ravens in his career (348 yards in three meetings) and kept up that trend in Week 7 thanks to the superb play of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Evans now has 193 yards and four touchdowns in his last two games, and maybe it's time for him to be picked back up again in the majority of leagues after his disappointing start to the season. In Week 8, Buffalo will visit Kansas City, which isn't the easiest of matchups. Still, Evans will surely be worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy WR after these last two performances.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has a great history against the Ravens, as in two meetings vs. Baltimore he has 12 catches for 243 yards and a touchdown. The two teams will play in Week 7 for the first time since 2007. Baltimore ranks as the third-toughest team against Fantasy receivers this season, however.
Analysis: While Baltimore's ranking against the pass might be impressive, they've given up 135 yards to Brandon Lloyd, 87 to Jabar Gaffney and 98 yards to Deion Branch in the last two weeks, so there's certainly a chance that Evans continues to own the Ravens in Week 7. Problem is, the Ravens might have safety Ed Reed back in their secondary, which will certainly give them a boost. Use Evans as a high-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for this matchup.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught a 45-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter of Week 5 against the Jaguars. He finished with a team-high 87 yards on five catches. His five catches tied his season best and the touchdown was his first of the year. Evans was targeted eight times, second only to Steve Johnson who finished the game with nine targets.
Analysis: Evans has been the victim of the Bills' poor passing game for quite some time, leading to very erratic numbers. This season has been no different. He had just one catch for 6 yards in his previous game and had not gained more than 54 yards in any game. Evans was able to break free for a long touchdown, but is still too inconsistent to use where it is avoidable. He will be on a bye in Week 6 and won't be recommended in most formats for a tough matchup at Baltimore in Week 7.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans managed one reception for 6 yards Week 4 against the Jets. Having an abysmal season, Evans has caught just 10 passes for 94 yards and has yet to find pay dirt. He hasn't gelled with new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and the entire Buffalo offense has been porous. The Bills host Jacksonville Week 5 and Evans could only make one catch for 15 yards in the game against the Jaguars last season. Over his last five games versus the Jaguars, Evans has 14 catches for 181 yards and has not scored a touchdown.
Analysis: Evans is having a horrendous season and Fitzpatrick is barely even looking his way in the passing game of late. He does have one thing going for him in Week 5, however. Jacksonville has allowed far and away the most Fantasy points to opposing receivers this season. Colts receivers caught 22 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 and the Eagles managed nine catches for 236 yards and three scores in the Week 3 game. The Jaguars have given up six touchdowns to the position on the year to go with 912 yards for an average of 228 yards per game. Denver's Brandon Lloyd, Philly's DeSean Jackson and Indy's Reggie Wayne have all topped 100 yards against the Jaguars -- Wayne just missed 200 yards. All that said, Evans is probably the worst WR option of that group and is just a No. 3 Fantasy WR, at best, for Week 5.
News: Despite being targeted six times by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday of Week 4 against the Jets, starting Buffalo WR Lee Evans still managed just one catch for 6 yards in the blowout loss. Evans could not get open for his quarterback as Antonio Cromartie consistently shut him down. "It's embarrassing to go out there to play like that and to get beat like that at any point if you're a competitor," Evans said following the 38-14 beating. "Yeah, it's embarrassing."
Analysis: Evans has just 10 catches for 94 yards with no touchdowns in four games this season and went Week 2 in Green Bay without a catch altogether. While Fitzpatrick has looked for him, he's failed to get open. Fitzpatrick has developed a rapport with other receivers and may begin to stop looking Evans' way if he's not careful. He's been terrible so far but we think he could have his best game Week 5 against Jacksonville's porous secondary. Still, Evans should be considered just an No. 3 Fantasy WR for the Week 5 game.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans averages 16.1 yards per catch against the Jets, the team Buffalo is hosting Week 4, over the course of his career. Last season, in two games against New York, Evans hauled in five catches for 106 yards with a touchdown. Evans, who has only been targeted 15 times in three games by struggling Bills quarterbacks, could do well against a Jets defense stifling the run but allowing decent chunks of yardage though the air. The Jets are giving up the seventh-most amount of Fantasy points to opposing WRs this season. In fact, Brandon Marshall just torched New York for 10 catches and 166 yards with a touchdown all by himself last week.
Analysis: The Jets' deficiencies against the pass this season are only due to Darrelle Revis missing time. No way Marshall goes off like that with a healthy Revis and no way Evans is as good as Marshall. Revis is likely out for another week, so Evans need not worry about that. Still, the receiver must worry about his poor quarterback play that has afforded him just nine catches for 88 yards and no scores after three weeks of the season. He was completely shut out Week 2 in Green Bay altogether. Evans should be considered just an No. 3 Fantasy WR for the Week 4 game.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans more than doubled his catch and yardage totals for the season in a Week 3 loss to the Patriots. Evans, who had just four catches for 34 yards coming into Sunday's game, made five grabs for 54 yards and was targeted eight times.
Analysis: Evans showed a better connection with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday than he did with Trent Edwards in the first two games of the season, which has to give his Fantasy owners some hope that Evans might be worth activating at some point down the road this season. He's not quite there yet, though, so keep him benched in Week 4 against the Jets, especially as he'll likely be covered by Darrelle Revis or Antonio Cromartie. Evans remains worth stashing away though.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will face the Patriots for the 13th time in Week 3 and is looking for his first ever victory against them. Evans has averaged just 36 yards against New England in his career with one touchdown.
Analysis: Wide receivers have actually fared very well against the Patriots so far in 2010, as New England has given up the third-most Fantasy points to them and have allowed a league-high five touchdowns to WRs. However, while Evans could have a nice game and stands to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the quarterback change in Buffalo if Ryan Fitzpatrick manages to succeed in the role, we would suggest continuing to start Evans in only very deep Fantasy formats for Week 3.
News: No fan of in-season quarterback shuffles, Bills receiver Lee Evans wasn't in a position to dispute the latest decision to go with Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter. Evans backed the switch Wednesday by saying something had to give on an offense that's shown little spark under Trent Edwards in opening the season with two losses. The seventh-year receiver then added he believes Fitzpatrick has a better feel for the game. "It's a little bit surprising, but I think the overall feeling was we weren't playing up to the potential of being as good as we can be," Evans said. When asked to compare the two quarterbacks, Evans credited Fitzpatrick in noting he's unafraid of throwing passes into coverage and capable of manufacturing plays on the fly. Though coach Chan Gailey said not all the blame for the team's early season struggles should be placed on Edwards, he made the switch in a bid to kick-start an offense as Buffalo prepares to play at AFC East rival New England in Week 3.
Analysis: Evans didn't blame Edwards, but also didn't go out of his way to say anything to support the fourth-year player. And this came after a game in which Evans was thrown to only once -- leading to a pass interference penalty -- and held without a catch for only the third time in his career. This marks the fourth time in Evans' seven years in Buffalo the Bills have changed starters due to performance, and the second straight season Edwards has lost his job to Fitzpatrick. As difficult as it is to adjust to a new quarterback on the fly, Evans noted the offense is familiar with Fitzpatrick, who went 5-4 in nine games he had a majority of playing time last season. Fitzpatrick said he's not going to force throws to Evans if he's covered, but noted the importance of getting the team's top receiver involved. Evans has some work to do to win back Fantasy owners, so he is not a recommended Fantasy start heading into Week 3 against the Patriots.
News:Lee Evans has nowhere to go but up following a catchless game at Green Bay in Week 2, which is why it's the perfect time for him to change quarterbacks. Evans will catch passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick going forward, and he connected with him for four of his seven touchdowns in 2009.
Analysis: Evans will take on the Patriots in Week 3, in New England. That's not a good matchup on the surface -- Evans scored in his last meeting against them for the first time in his career. Don't expect big stats against the Pats for Evans.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans did not have a single pass thrown his way in Week 2 at Green Bay, a 34-7 drubbing at the hands of the Packers. He had caught just four passes for only 34 yards in a Week 1 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Evans was -- once again -- the victim of a poor pass offense in Week 2. Bills QB Trent Edwards threw for just 102 yards and no scores against one of the toughest pass defenses in the NFL. Evans will, unfortunately, continue to be victimized by Buffalo's lack of a passing game and for that reason will not be an advisable play in most formats for Week 3 at New England.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will face a tough pass defense in Week 2 at Green Bay. The Packers allowed just 171 net passing yards in Week 1 against the Eagles and ranked fifth in the NFL against the pass last season. They allowed just 201.1 yards per game, though they did allow 29 touchdown passes in 16 games.
Analysis: Evans caught just four passes for 34 yards in Week 1 against the Dolphins in a low-scoring, 15-10 loss. Evans is the clear No. 1 Fantasy WR in Buffalo, but his Fantasy value always remains stunted because of the lack of quality quarterbacking available to him. Given his situation and the tough matchup he will face against a strong pass defense, we don't recommend starting Evans outside of the deepest of leagues.

News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for only 34 yards Sunday in a Week 1 loss to Miami. He was targeted seven times.
Analysis: Evans is the clear No. 1 Fantasy WR in Buffalo, but his Fantasy value always remains stunted because of the lack of quality quarterbacking he receives in Buffalo. In Week 2, Buffalo will head to Green Bay, where Evans will have to worry about Charles Woodson. He will not be recommended start for the scoring period in anything but very deep Fantasy formats.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will face the Dolphins for the 13th time in Week 1, and the veteran will be looking to add to his eight career touchdowns against Miami. Evans, who averages 20.3 yards per catch vs. Miami, hasn't put up good numbers in the last three games vs. the Dolphins however, averaging just 41 yards a game in those contests.
Analysis: Miami ranked a miserable 24th against the pass in 2009 and didn't make any significant changes in the secondary this offseason, so with Trent Edwards hopefully making some strides in his fourth season, Evans could get off to a decent start in Week 1. Problem is, he really has no one else on his team to take away attention, so Evans might well see a ton of double-teams on Sunday afternoon. Only start him in deeper Fantasy leagues as a flex option.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught one pass for a second straight game in Saturday's preseason win over the Bengals, but unlike last week, when his grab went for a 70-yard score, this one was just an 8-yard reception.
Analysis: Evans has 10 touchdowns and 1,629 yards over the last two seasons, but his inconsistent play can be an absolute nightmare for Fantasy owners. One week he'll bring you 15 points, the next zero. This limits his value a little, but as a concrete No. 1 WR, Evans is worth a look as a bench receiver or flex option in Fantasy play.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught just one pass in the team's second preseason game Thursday in Toronto against the Colts. But that one pass was a big one as it went for a 70-yard touchdown. "It was just a deep flag route and Steve (Johnson) did a good job on his over-route occupying the safety," said QB Trent Edwards. "Its just a matter of taking seven steps and throwing it as far as you can. Lee went and got it." Evans has made two catches for 78 yards in the team's first two preseason games.
Analysis: Evans has played with QB Trent Edwards as the starter in the first two games and all signs point to that being the combination to begin the season as Ryan Fitzpatrick is lagging in the race for the starting job. Regardless, the QB play in Buffalo doesn't bode well for Evans, who should only be considered as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR. We only advise drafting Evans with a late-round pick. He finished 2009 with seven touchdowns, but he also had a career-low 612 yards.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans did little Friday night in the preseason opener at Washington. Evans saw limited action in the first half against the Redskins and finished with one catch for 8 yards.
Analysis: Evans played with QB Trent Edwards, who is battling for the starting job with Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Edwards struggled. The QB play in Buffalo doesn't bode well for Evans, who should only be considered as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR. We only advise drafting Evans with a late-round pick. He finished 2009 with seven touchdowns, but he also had a career-low 612 yards.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans says he's fine with the team's decision to hire veteran coach Chan Gailey. "I think it's exciting," Evans said. "I'm looking forward to working with him. I know he and [General Manager] Buddy Nix have had a past together being successful and his offenses have always been successful. Even speaking with some people I know who've played for him, they have had nothing but good things to say so I'm excited."
Analysis: Gailey isn't expected to turn Evans into a stat machine by any regards, but Gailey is known for using his best weapons to their best ability, so Evans shouldn't be slighted much by Fantasy owners even though he hasn't had a 100-yard game since 2008 (his 2009 high was 75 yards). He remains a No. 3 Fantasy WR worth a mid-round pick heading into 2010 drafts, which is to say he's nothing to be overly excited about but is still a solid receiver.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in a Week 17 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Evans' seven touchdowns this season were only one fewer than he had in his previous two seasons combined, so while his 612 yards were a career low, at least he was finding the end zone now and again. He will head into 2010 as a bench option in most leagues, but his Fantasy value will depend a little on what happens to Terrell Owens.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans had one of his better games in the Week 16 loss at Atlanta. Evans led the Bills with five catches and 43 receiving yards. He did not score in the game and his long receptions went for 15 yards.
Analysis: Evans appears to have established a small rapport with Brian Brohm as he had his most receptions pretty much all season with the Louisville alum throwing him the football. That still doesnt make him a recommended Fantasy play Week 17 against the Colts.
News: The NFL Network reports Sunday that the Bills expect QB Brian Brohm to make his first NFL start against the Falcons because starting Ryan Fitzpatrick is battling an ankle injury. The Bills signed Brohm, a 2008 second-round draft pick, off the Packers' practice squad last month, and he had been Buffalo's No. 3 QB, behind Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards (who is also injured).
Analysis: Brohm has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in any leagues. Keep Fitzpatrick reserved also. The only thing Fantasy owners need is for Brohm to get the ball to Terrell Owens and Lee Evans, but the Bills receivers are now questionable options since they have an inexperienced passer.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught three passes for 35 yards and his sixth touchdown of the season in a Week 15 loss to New England.
Analysis: Evans has been a massive disappointment this season and continues to be only worth worrying about in the deepest of leagues heading into Week 16 at Atlanta.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans didn't make his first, and only, catch until late in the Week 14 win over the Chiefs. He ended up with just one catch in the game for 11 yards.
Analysis: Evans is still a decent home-run threat, but he has a low-upside quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick and is far too inconsistent to use as more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 15 against the Patriots.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who entered the game with only three receptions over his last two, continued to struggle Week 13 against the Jets. He had one catch for 38 yards. His 38 yards actually led the team, though.
Analysis: Evans is still a decent home-run threat, but he has a low-upside quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick and is far too inconsistent to use as more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR. Besides, Terrell Owens has clearly become the favored receiving option of the two. Even with a good matchup Week 14 at Kansas City, Evans is just a low-end Fantasy WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans faces a familiar foe in Week 13 -- the Jets. He'll play them in Toronto on Thursday, where he'll try to score on them for the second game in a row. He notched 68 yards on four catches with a touchdown in an earlier meeting this season at The Meadowlands and will attempt for a repeat here. Evans has caught four passes in each of his last three meetups with the Jets, though hasn't had a 100-yard game against them since October of 2007.
Analysis: The Jets rank second against the pass and will surely try to keep Evans in front of them when they line up. Considering his quarterback and the offense in general, there's a legitimate chance he'll struggle (he has just three catches for 55 yards over his last two games). Consider him nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR this week; sit him if you can.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans was held to two catches for 40 yards in a Week 12 win over Miami.
Analysis: Evans has burned Miami in the past, but finished this season with only four total catches and 100 yards against the Dolphins. In Week 13, the Bills will host the Jets and Evans should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR for that matchup.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans made one reception during the Week 11 loss at Jacksonville. The catch went for 15 yards.
Analysis: Evans has yet to go for over 100 yards receiving this season but he did have two touchdown catches in Week 10 against the Titans. In fact, despite his poor stats in Week 11, Evans had four touchdowns in his previous four games coming into the game against the Jaguars. The Bills play at home against Miami in Week 12 and Evans had two catches for 60 yards against the Dolphins in Week 4. We like Evans to bounce back in Week 12 and label him a low-end No. 2 or decent No. 3 WR for the game.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught two touchdown passes in Week 10 at Tennessee. He caught four passes for 50 yards in the game.
Analysis: Evans caught one touchdown pass from RB Fred Jackson. He has not had more than five grabs in a game and is part of one of the weaker passing games in the NFL. Despite the two touchdowns, we don't recommend Evans as anything more than a low-end No. 2 or decent No. 3 WR for Week 11 at Jacksonville.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans returns from a bye in Week 9 to face Tennessee in Week 10. Evans has gone for at least 60 receiving yards in three of his last five games and has two touchdowns over that span as he gets set to face the league's absolute worst pass defense in the Titans. Evans has only played against Tennessee once in his career back in 2006. He caught five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown in that game.
Analysis: Evans could be the best receiver on the field for Buffalo in Week 10 as Terrell Owens is dealing with an injury. Evans has a solid history against Tennessee and that was back when they weren't this bad against the pass. The matchup is definitely in Evans' favor and we like him as at least a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught two passes for 29 yards Week 8 in a loss at home to Houston. Evans had a long grab for 24 yards.
Analysis: Evans had scored a touchdown in his previous two games and has three on the season. He had at least 68 yards in each of his last two games as well. Evans was growing into a solid No. 3 Fantasy option but suffered a speed bump on Sunday against Houston. Evans will likely remain a No. 3 option for Week 10 at Tennessee with Trent Edwards hopefully returning. The Bills have a bye Week 9.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who set a season high in receiving yards and scored a touchdown last week, repeated both feats Week 7 at Carolina. He had five catches for a season-high 75 yards and scored on a 2-yard pass from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Evans has fared better with Fitzpatrick than he did with Trent Edwards, who's out with a concussion, but he's still a big-play receiver in an offense that won't have many big plays. Expect continued inconsistency from him, making him no more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 8 against the Texans.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for a season-high 68 yards and scored his second touchdown Week 6 at the Jets. The touchdown came on a 37-yard pass from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the third quarter.
Analysis: Evans remains a good home-run threat, but he plays on an offense that doesn't hit many home runs. He's averaging 2.7 catches over his first six games, so you really can't trust him for much in Fantasy, even with Sunday's decent performance. He's just a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 7 at Carolina.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had just two catches for 11 yards vs. the Browns in Week 5. Evans has just 12 catches for 159 yards on the season.
Analysis: Evans isn't getting much help from his quarterback, Trent Edwards, which is adding to his woes. Consider benching Evans if you haven't already in Week 6 when he takes on the Jets. It might be a long year for him and the rest of the Bills offense.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans totaled two catches for 60 yards during a Week 4 loss to the Dolphins. Both of Evans' catches came on the last drive of the third quarter. His longest reception went 35 yards. He was targeted six times in the game, including on a pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter that was picked off by Will Allen.
Analysis: Evans has all of 10 catches for 148 yards and one touchdown in his first four games. We figured with the addition of Terrell Owens that it would open up 1-on-1 coverage for Evans and the Bills would have a dynamic passing game. Yeah, that really hasn't happened. QB Trent Edwards has been a big reason why the Bills passing game has suffered. Until the Bills get better, Evans is more of a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy WR heading into Week 5 against the Browns.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans totaled four catches for 31 yards during a Week 3 loss to the Saints. He was targeted six times in the game and had a long reception of 11 yards.
Analysis: We figured with the addition of Terrell Owens that it would open up 1-on-1 coverage for Evans and the Bills would have a dynamic passing game. Yeah, that really hasn't happened. Evans has just eight catches for 89 yards and one touchdown in three games. It seems T.O.'s arrival has hindered Evans, who is at best a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option heading into Week 4 against the Dolphins. Evans had 10 catches for 139 yards in two games against Miami last season.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will face the Saints in Week 3 at home. The Saints have allowed the fifth most passing yards in the NFL through the first two games of the season, allowing an average of 288 per game. They have allowed just two touchdown passes, however.
Analysis: The Saints have thrown the ball for a ton of yards and have had good leads in both games early on this season. That has led to opposing teams having to play catch up, which in turn has led to a lot of passing yards against them. Lee Evans has not had more than 32 yards in either of the first two games of the season. His only catch in Week 2 against Tampa Bay went for a 32-yard touchdown, but Evans has not yet had his typical breakout performance this season. The presence of Terrell Owens this season could cut into his targets to the point a huge game may not be in the cards this season, but a favorable matchup against the Saints makes Evans a worthy option as a solid No. 3 receiver.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans made only one catch Week 3 against the Buccaneers, but he made it count as the catch went 32 yards for a score. Evans was targeted five times in the game but only once was the pass completed.
Analysis: Evans is being targeted by QB Trent Edwards, which is good, but Fantasy owners are expecting more than 32 yards out of Evans on a weekly basis. This was actually an improvement over Week 1's output of 25 yards on three catches. Hopefully teams will start focusing more on Terrell Owens and Evans will end up getting open more often. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy WR Week 3 against a fair Saints defense.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans on attacking Tampa Bay vertically: "You can see from the film that Dallas, when they had opportunities to make some plays going deep they took them and made them work. We have to be able to do the same thing. If we get certain looks, then we have to be able to take those shots." The Bucs allowed three passing touchdowns last week to Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin, and all three scores were from 42 yards or longer.
Analysis: Evans specializes in the deep ball, and QB Trent Edwards will likely take some shots downfield in his direction. Start Evans as a No. 2 Fantasy WR this week, and Terrell Owens is also worth starting this week, as both receivers should bounce back from a poor season opener when they combined for five catches for 71 yards. Evans was held to three catches for 25 yards in Week 1.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught three passes in Week 1's loss to the New England Patriots on Monday night. Evans went for 25 yards and had a long catch of 12 yards in the game.
Analysis: Evans should be owned in most Fantasy leagues as the No. 2 receiving option for Trent Edwards and the Bills behind T.O. Evans and Owens combined for only five catches against a tough New England secondary Week 1. Things should be a bit easier in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which allowed 31 points to Dallas in Week 1. We would start Evans as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 2.
News: If you're looking for a wide receiver who has never had a 100-yard game and never scored a touchdown against a common opponent in his career, you've come to the right place. Bills WR Lee Evans has done well against other teams but has never scored on the Patriots, nor has he ever had a 100-yard game. His career-high against the Pats? 93 yards as a rookie. Evans has faced New England 10 times in his career. In his past five meetings against New England, Evans has only 13 catches for 142 yards and no touchdowns. Along with that, Evans has only seven catches for 83 yards and no touchdowns in his past five games at New England.
Analysis: Not helping Evans' cause is Terrell Owens taking catches away from him, along with a tattered Bills' offensive line and a less-than-ideal quarterback in Trent Edwards. Keep Evans sidelined for Week 1 Fantasy play.
News: One week after going without a catch in the preseason opener against Tennessee, Bills WR Lee Evans came back in the second preseason contest against Chicago and had three catches for 54 yards, including a 36-yard reception. The Bills were without Terrell Owens (toe), so Evans returned to his role as the No. 1 WR.
Analysis: We think Evans will benefit playing with Owens, and he should post good totals this season. He's worth drafting as a No. 2 Fantasy option worth a mid-round pick in all leagues.
News: The Buffalo News reports Bills QB Trent Edwards spent more than 20 minutes throwing passes to WRs Terrell Owens and Lee Evans after organized team activities Wednesday. The purpose of the extra work was to improve Edwards' timing with his top wideouts. It was especially beneficial for Edwards and Owens to get a better feel for each other. Edwards initiated the post-practice session after a fairly ragged showing by the offense, which included several incomplete passes. He asked Owens and Evans to stick around a little longer so they could work on getting on the same page.
Analysis: This should help Evans and Edwards continue to develop a rapport, and Evans should benefit with Owens on the field. We like Evans as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option. He's worth a mid-round pick in all formats.
News: The ramifications of Terrell Owens signing with the Bills stretch across many Fantasy-relevant players, and long-time Bills receiver Lee Evans is one of them. For years, Evans has been a one-man show in Buffalo, working across from mediocre talents from Peerless Price to Josh Reed. Now, he's got T.O., and while Owens' skills are diminished, Evans should still see slightly lighter coverage than he's had in the past. As a result, Evans should improve on the 1,017 yards he had last season, but not necessarily the 63 catches or even the three measly touchdowns he picked up as Owens is the better red-zone target and will likely garner more attention from QB Trent Edwards.
Analysis: Evans remains a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR who should top 1,000 yards without a problem in 2009. His opportunities to make deep catches do improve with Owens coming aboard, but not to the point where he'll be a must-start each and every week. And the lack of touchdowns will almost certainly be an issue for him, but then again, they've been an issue for him for the last three seasons (they've declined annually since 2006). Evans is a likely selection between Rounds 5 and 7 this summer.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught five passes for 63 yards in Week 17's loss to the Patriots in a windy game that saw very limited pass attempts. Evans was the Bills' leading receiver in both catches and yards.
Analysis: Evans finishes his season with 63 catches and over 1,000 receiving yards with three touchdowns. The TD numbers were the worst of his five-year career with Trent Edwards throwing him passes but his receptions and yards were both better than last year. Evans is the Bills' leading receiver and best option heading into 2009. We'd consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR for draft day.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught two passes for 19 yards in Week 16 at Denver. He was thrown to five times in the game.
Analysis: It was expected that QB Trent Edwards' presence for the first time in nearly a month would help the stats of Evans, who has had his best games this season with Edwards under center and not J.P. Losman. However, the majority of the looks went to Josh Reed with the Broncos doing their best to keep Evans out of the picture. For Week 17 against the Patriots, Evans should be considered a No. 3 receiver option. He had two catches for 22 yards against the Patriots on Nov. 9.
News: Bills QB Trent Edwards is ready to make his first start in three weeks since being sidelined by a groin injury. Edwards returned to practice Wednesday and is expected to start at Denver on Sunday. He will try to spark a bumbling offense and prove he's capable of shedding the inconsistencies in his game before he was hurt.
Analysis: Edwards' presence should help the stats of Lee Evans, who has had his best games this season with Edwards under center and not J.P. Losman. We like Evans more as a quality No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 16, particularly if he plays the Broncos without CB Champ Bailey, who has been hurt and inactive intermittently over the last month or so.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught four passes for 22 yards in Week 15's loss to the Jets. Evans now has just seven grabs for 45 yards over his last two games.
Analysis: Evans had 12 catches for 190 yards in his previous two games before the last two duds. Obviously, J.P. Losman is not looking his way and he'd like to have Trent Edwards back. Evans is having a great season and remains a must-start Fantasy WR heading into Week 16 at Denver. Against the Broncos porous defense we expect Evans to have a nice bounce back game.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans was held to 23 yards on three catches by Miami in a Week 14 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Evans is usually a Dolphins-killer, but he couldn't get anything going on Sunday as QB J.P. Losman really struggled to find a rhythm. Evans is having a great season and remains a must-start Fantasy WR heading into Week 15 at the Jets. In their meeting earlier this season, Evans caught four passes for 41 yards.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught seven passes for 80 yards in a Week 13 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: Evans is on pace to get close to his career-best 1292 yards from two seasons ago, as he now has 890 yards. Eighty yards in the poor conditions he was playing in on Sunday is a marvelous total. The Bills host Miami in Toronto in Week 14, and Evans has been a Dolphin killer in the past. Get him active in all formats for the period.
News: In the Bills' 54-31 win at the Chiefs in Week 12, WR Lee Evans caught five passes for 110 yards including a 51-yard deep pass that helped set up a field goal.
Analysis: Evans thrived against a slumping defensive secondary, and might see the same kind of stats in Week 13 when the 49ers and their mediocre set of corners and safeties come to Buffalo. Assuming the weather conditions are decent, figure Evans to come close to 100 yards again.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who entered with a combined six catches for 63 yards over his last two games, did even worse Week 11 against the Browns. He didn't record a single reception -- not one -- ending a 67-game streak that began seven games into his rookie year in 2004.
Analysis: Evans looked on pace for a career season earlier in the year, developing a rapport with second-year quarterback Trent Edwards. Everything changed, though, when Edwards suffered a concussion back in Week 5. Since Edwards' return, Lee has fallen into obscurity. He still has big-play ability, but he looks like a risky No. 2 Fantasy WR in Week 12 at Kansas City.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans, who had a good matchup against the Patriots in Week 10 since New England had allowed 13 touchdowns this season, again struggled against the AFC East rival. Evan had two catches for 22 yards Sunday. Evans now has 14 catches for 185 yards against New England in his past six meetings.
Analysis: Evan will have better days, especially in Week 11 against Cleveland. Look for him to bounce back and continue to start him as a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans hasn't played well against the Patriots, his Week 10 opponent, with only 12 catches for 165 yards and no touchdowns in his past five meetings. But New England's secondary has changed this year, and not for the better. Evans has 23 catches for 434 yards and three touchdowns in his past five games.
Analysis: Since Buffalo should struggle to run the ball this week, QB Trent Edwards will have to throw, and we all know he will be looking in Evans' direction. Start Evans this week and look for him to exploit New England's secondary, which has allowed 212.6 passing yards per game with 13 touchdowns. Consider Evans a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans came into Week 9 against the Jets with four straight games going over 88 yards and three total touchdowns in that span. The Bills were playing without starter Josh Reed so Evans figured to see increased production. Didn't happen, though, as Evans finished with four catches for 41 yards.
Analysis: Evans had his worst game of the entire season yardage wise against the Jets. In eight games, Evans has caught 35 passes for 678 yards and three touchdowns. That still keeps Evans as a receiver worth starting every Fantasy week. The Bills play at New England in Week 10 and Evans is a No. 1 Fantasy WR for that game.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught seven passes for 116 yards in a Week 8 loss to the Dolphins. His touchdown streak ended at three games, however.
Analysis: Evans has now gone over 87 yards for four straight games and has three touchdowns during that span. He remains a must-start WR option heading into Week 9 vs. the Jets.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans is trying to continue some impressive streaks in Week 8 at Miami. He has a touchdown and at least 88 receiving yards in his past three games against St. Louis, Arizona and San Diego. Now he faces the Dolphins, who he has hurt the past three years with 16 catches for 347 yards and six touchdowns in the past five meetings. He hasn't scored in his past two games at Miami, but the Dolphins have allowed nine passing touchdowns this year and are susceptible to the deep ball, which is something Evans does well.
Analysis: Evans has been great this year and should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy WR at this time. Start him in all leagues.
News: In his team's 23-14 win vs. San Diego, Buffalo WR Lee Evans made eight catches for 89 yards with a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch with CB Quentin Jammer draped over him. Evans has scored on three straight games.
Analysis: The Bills will head to Miami to play the Dolphins in Week 8, and that matchup should be good for Evans, who will look to tie a personal record with four consecutive games with a touchdown. Keep him active against a suspect Dolphins secondary.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will get his crack at the Chargers and their 31st-ranked pass defense at home in Week 7. The Bolts didn't give up a passing touchdown last week vs. New England but did allow 10 in the previous five weeks and are allowing 253.5 pass yards per game on average. Evans will be helped not only by the matchup but by QB Trent Edwards expected to start.
Analysis: Edwards has yet to have a game with less than 65 yards receiving, and is coming off a two-catch, 100-yard, one-touchdown game before he went on bye in Week 6. Consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR for the upcoming week.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught an 87-yard TD pass from J.P. Losman on Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals in Week 5. Evans caught just two passes but they totaled 100 yards. He also rushed once for 22 yards.
Analysis: Evans is off to the hottest start of his career this season with 16 catches, a team-leading 432 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Evans remains a decent low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR, but not in Week 6. The Bills have a bye next week so Evans should remain on your bench.
News: Receiver Lee Evans signed a four-year contract extension worth $37.25 million on Thursday in a deal that prevents the Buffalo Bills' star from becoming a free agent after this season. Evans, who is guaranteed to make $18.25 million in the new deal that runs through 2012, earned a significant raise over the base salary of $2.25 million he'll make this season, the final year of the rookie contract he signed after the Bills selected him 13th overall in the 2004 draft out Wisconsin. Re-signing Evans was considered the Bills' top priority this year, and negotiations began in April. Evans had also expressed a desire to remain in Buffalo, where he has emerged as the team's top offensive player.
Analysis: Evans is off to the hottest start of his career this season with 14 catches, a team-leading 332 yards receiving and one touchdown. He ranks second among AFC receivers in yards and has six catches of 25 yards or longer, tying Green Bay's Greg Jennings for most in the NFL. The Bills travel to Arizona for Week 5 and the Cardinals are allowing over 204 yards per game through the air. Evans has been pretty consistent this season as he's averaging 83 yards receiving per game. He scored his first touchdown last week and hopefully that is a sign of things to come. Entering Week 5, Evans is a high-end No. 2 Fantasy WR and is worth starting in most Fantasy leagues.
News: After catching four passes in each of his first three games this season, Buffalo WR Lee Evans only caught two against the Rams last week. Of course, one of them was his first touchdown of the year and both totaled 88 yards. The Bills travel to Arizona for Week 5 and the Cardinals are allowing over 204 yards per game through the air.
Analysis: Arizona's pass defense is better than St. Louis' but that shouldn't really factor in on Sunday.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, caught a 39-yard pass and 49-yard touchdown Week 49 at St. Louis. They were his only two catches, but he and QB Trent Edwards have now connected on six passes of 30 yards or more this season. "I think it's a trust thing," Evans told the Buffalo News. "We knew in this game with the looks we were getting we were going to have opportunities. The offensive line did a good job in the second half of giving Trent some time, and it was a matter of making plays outside. On that touchdown, he put it out there and trusted me to make the play."
Analysis: Evans has 332 yards on 14 catches, averaging 23.7 yards per reception. He's the team's big play threat in the passing game and for that reason is a valuable receiver in most formats. Evans has gained at least 65 yards in all four games this season with big plays in every game. Continue to use him in all leagues for Week 5 at Arizona.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught just two passes in Week 4 at St. Louis, but both went for big gains. He finished with 88 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown catch. He also caught a two-point conversion following the touchdown.
Analysis: Evans was thrown to five times in the game and most of the times the passes were far down field. He's the team's big play threat in the passing game and for that reason is a valuable receiver in most formats. Evans has gained at least 65 yards in all four games this season with big plays in every game. Continue to use him in all leagues for Week 5 at Arizona.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for 65 yards vs. Oakland in Week 3. He also coughed up the ball on a fumble.
Analysis: Evans still has yet to score this season but continues to be a regular contributor to the Bills' offense. Expect Evans to have a good shot at scoring at St. Louis in Week 4, so consider him a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for the coming week, especially with so many receivers on bye.
News:Lee Evans has been a busy man, on and off the field. The Bills' top receiver entered this season planning a fast start, and not worrying about his contract talks, which he left for his agent and the team to handle. Turns out, Evans is taking care of both at the same time. A notoriously slow starter, Evans is off to his best opening to a season since the Bills selected him in the first round of the 2004 draft out of Wisconsin. In two games, he has a team-leading eight catches for 179 yards, which is plenty for a receiver that had difficulty cracking 200 yards in the first month of each of his first four seasons -- and had a meager 22 at this point last year. Coincidentally or not, Evans was happy to report this week that his slow-going contract talks have suddenly heated up as well. "We're a lot closer. We have closed the gap," said Evans, who's entering the final year of his contract. "Hopefully, we can get it done sooner than later. But I'm not really worried."
Analysis: The Bills have declined to discuss the status of contract talks, but have consistently maintained signing Evans to a long-term deal is their top priority. They had better hurry, because Evans' stock is on the rise. With Buffalo preparing to host the Oakland Raiders (1-1) on Sunday, Evans is part of a team that's off to its first 2-0 start in five years. Modest as that might sound, it's exciting stuff for a franchise seeking to end an eight-season playoff drought, the longest in Bills history. With 102 yards receiving in Buffalo's season-opening 34-10 win against Seattle, Evans made a bigger impact in a 20-16 win at Jacksonville last weekend. His 37-yard catch up the left sideline with under 5 minutes left set up rookie James Hardy's 7-yard touchdown reception, which put Buffalo ahead for good. Fantasy owners would like Evans to remain unsigned so he remains motivated the rest of the season, but regardless, he's worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 3 against Oakland.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans extended his reception streak to 60 games Sunday at Jacksonville and all eight of his receptions in the first two games have resulted in first downs, reports the Buffalo News. Evans has eight catches for 179 yards in two games.
Analysis: Evans is starting to look the part of a No. 1 receiver and is developing a solid rapport with second-year QB Trent Edwards. Let's hope Evans can continue this type of play all season, and he's worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 3 against Oakland.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for 77 yards in Week 2 at Jacksonville. His longest catch went for 37 yards. Evans finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Analysis: Evans actually led all wide receivers in the game with backup running back Fred Jackson leading the team with seven catches for 83 yards. He's caught four passes in each of the two first games with 179 yards and is developing a nice rapport with QB Trent Edwards. He's been an inconsistent WR in the past, but is playing well enough to use as a No. 2 receiver in any league for Week 3 against Oakland's porous pass defense.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has played the Jaguars each of the last two seasons, but has only totaled seven catches for 77 yards in those games. The Jaguars host the Bills in Week 2.
Analysis: Evans is a talented guy, but he suffers in Fantasy play because of the lack of a decent quarterback throwing him the ball. His 102 yards in the opener was nice, but don't expect that on a weekly basis. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 2's matchup with the Jags.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four balls for 102 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Seahawks.
Analysis: Evans had two 100-yard games in 2007, but he's one of those guys that can just disappear on a week-to-week basis. His performance on Sunday certainly caused a lot of Fantasy players to regret leaving them on their bench, but you knew what you were getting yourself into when you drafted the guy. In Week 2, the Bills take on the Jaguars and they might have to pass the ball a lot in that matchup. Consider Evans a nice No. 3 Fantasy WR option.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans caught five passes for 44 yards from second-string QB J.P. Losman on Sunday against the Colts.
Analysis: Evans would rather have tried to get into rhythm with starter Trent Edwards but Losman would have to do in this tuneup. The Bills offense shouldn't put up huge numbers this year and because of that Evans should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News:The Sports Xchange reports talks are progressing nicely on a contract extension for Bills WR Lee Evans and an announcement of a deal could come soon, both parties said. Evans is scheduled to become a free agent in 2009 and in Thursday's 24-21 preseason victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Toronto, he showed why Buffalo wants to keep that from occurring. In two series of work, Evans caught three passes for 55 yards, including a 23-yard reception from QB Trent Edwards on Buffalo's first offensive play.
Analysis: Evans was outspoken after the team's first preseason game as the offense stumbled for most of the game, but they made great strides in Game 2. He is certainly motivated to have a big season, but if he gets his contract extension, some of that motivation could evaporate. Evans hopes to get in rhythm with second-year QB Edwards, but can't be considered more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR at this time.
News: Buffalo Bills fans worried about this year's offense initially looking no better than last year's anemic attack aren't alone. Receiver Lee Evans shares the concerns after what he saw in the Bills' preseason opener. "No doubt about it," Evans said Monday, the Bills' first day back at training camp following a 17-14 loss at Washington last weekend. Evans then went down the list of troubles -- mental errors, penalties, lack of finish and even a failure to deal with crowd noise during a road game. "It started to come as the game went along, but it's those mental errors we've got to get rid of," he said. "I think it was a good learning experience for us."
Analysis: If that wasn't enough, Evans also expressed concern about the offense playing without Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters, who has not reported to training camp over a contract dispute. Without Peters, who wants the final three years of his contract restructured, the Bills have been forced to move Langston Walker to the left side, and promote reserve Kirk Chambers to fill in for Walker on the right side. Much more is expected from a unit that finished 30th last season in total yards, and produced a mere 20 touchdowns -- the fewest by the Bills in a 16-game season. Evans hopes to get in rhythm with second-year QB Trent Edwards, but can't be considered more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR at this time.
News: The Democrat and Chronicle reports Bills WR Lee Evans is trying to develop a rapport with QB Trent Edwards. "I have a very good comfort level with Trent," Evans said. "Obviously he is a different type of quarterback (than J.P. Losman), but we have developed a rhythm. We have done some things in the offseason to try and help that rhythm and coming out here early on we had some incomplete passes, but we are getting in a good mode." Evans is in the final year of his contract, and while negotiations have heated up in recent weeks and it seems quite possible he will soon sign a long-term extension with the team, there is still a chance nothing gets done and he will test the lucrative free-agent market. If that happens, he needs to have a much better year than he did in 2007 if he hopes to land a mega contract, and he won't have that big year unless he's in sync with his quarterback, which he never was last season when he slumped to 55 catches for 849 yards and 5 TDs while Edwards and Losman were flip-flopping.
Analysis: Look for Evans to get back on track, especially since he's in sync with Edwards. Go into the season with Evans as a No. 3 Fantasy WR with the chance to see his value rise if he and Edwards can connect. As of now, draft Evans with a pick around Round 7 or 8.
News: Receiver Lee Evans is encouraged he'll secure a long-term contract extension with the Bills this summer after negotiations intensified over the past month. The club has referred to locking up Evans to a long-term deal as one of their top priorities this summer; if they don't, he has the right to opt out of his current contract. Evans' production tailed off last season, when he had 55 catches for 849 yards and a career-low five touchdowns. But the dropoff was attributed to an offense that was unsettled at quarterback and hampered by injuries. The Bills also lacked a secondary receiving threat to draw coverage away from Evans. That's something the team hopes it fixed with the addition of 6-foot-5 second-round draft pick James Hardy. "We're moving in the right direction, which is positive," Evans said of his contract negotiations (and could be the same thing he'd say about the direction of the Bills' offense). "Both sides are talking. Both sides are positive. That's really good. I am hopeful."
Analysis: Evans' production should ramp up now that a comfort level has been reached with QB Trent Edwards and that teammates Hardy and RB Marshawn Lynch will attract plenty of the defense's attention. It's still a longshot for Evans to top 1,000 yards on the year, but figure him to get close with decent touchdown production. Evans is a safe pick as No. 3 WR worth a middle-round pick.
News: With most of the free-agent frenzy over, the Bills are trying to keep one of their would-be free agents. WR Lee Evans confirmed Monday the Bills have made him a contract offer that would prevent the five-year veteran from becoming a free agent following the 2008 season. Evans, Buffalo's leading receiver the past two years, is in the final year of a five-year deal he signed after Buffalo selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2004 draft. Evans, who had minor surgery on his shoulder this offseason, will likely command a salary comparable to that of Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, a two-time Pro Bowler, got a four-year, $40 million contract - with $30 million guaranteed - in March.
Analysis: After enjoying a breakout year in 2006, when he set career highs in receptions (82) and yards (1,292), Evans saw his production slip in 2007 when he led the Bills with just 55 catches for 849 yards and five touchdowns. Buffalo's offense certainly hasn't helped Evans. The Bills ranked 30th in the league for the second consecutive year this past season, and haven't finished better than 25th on offense since Evans arrived. But with the addition of rookie wide receiver James Hardy, Buffalo's second-round pick, and the experience gained by RB Marshawn Lynch and QB Trent Edwards as rookies last season, Evans is optimistic the offense will improve. For now, consider Evans a No. 3 Fantasy option in 2008 with the chance to see his value rise if he plays like he did in 2006.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had minor surgery to repair a bothersome shoulder after the season and is on schedule to take part in all organized team activities that begin in May, according to the Sports Xchange.
Analysis: Evans should be fine for the start of the season. Going into the year, consider Evans a low-end starting Fantasy option. He had a down year in 2007 with 55 catches for 849 yards and five touchdowns. Evans also has a young quarterback in Trent Edwards, who is entering his second year. Still, Evans has the potential to put up big stats, so he's worth taking in the middle of most drafts.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans had a down year in 2007. According to the Buffalo News, Evans had the sixth-fewest catches of any No. 1 WR in the NFL. He had 55 catches for 849 yards and five touchdowns. In 2006, he had 82 catches for 1,292 yards and eight touchdowns. Evans also seemed to struggle with the change from J.P. Losman to Trent Edwards at quarterback, and the stats show it. Losman threw passes in Evans' direction 7.7 times a game. Edwards went Evans' way 6.7 times a game.
Analysis: There are several reasons for Evans' poor year. The QB change affected his play, and again Evans had no WR opposite him to take off pressure. It simply was too easy for defenses to focus on Evans. Hopefully that will change in 2008, but you should enter the season with Evans as a No. 3 Fantasy option with the chance to see his stock rise during the year.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught just one pass for two yards in Week 17 at Philadelphia. It was his seventh straight game with less than five catches. He left after a hard hit to the chest.
Analysis: Evans caught just 55 passes this season for 849 yards and five touchdowns. The instable nature of the Bills passing game made him a very unattractive Fantasy option this season, but he remains a breakout candidate once again for 2008.
News: The Eagles announced that CB Lito Sheppard and FS Brian Dawkins were doubtful to play in Week 17 vs. Buffalo. With that news, the Bills' passing game has a shot at doing some damage statistically as the Eagles will be shorthanded against the pass.
Analysis: That's pretty good news for Trent Edwards and Lee Evans, both of whom want to finish strong and end 2007 with an 8-8 record, not a 7-9 record. Consider Edwards a No. 2 Fantasy QB with some upside and Evans a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 17.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught a touchdown pass early in Week 16 vs. the Giants, but he caught just two more passes after that and finished with three catches for 43 yards.
Analysis: Evans actually led the team in both categories on a very windy afternoon in Buffalo. The Bills pass offense has been very hit-or-miss and Fantasy owners should not consider Evans as anything more than a No. 3 receiver for Fantasy purposes for Week 17 at Philadelphia.
News: According to weather forecasts as well as CBS on the scene in Buffalo, there are strong winds and rain forecast for this Sunday in Western New York which will impact the Giants-Bills Week 16 contest. The Weather Channel reports that the wind is at 27 m.p.h. with gusts up to 37 m.p.h.
Analysis: Such weather will result in both teams opting to run more and throw short-area passes to negate the impact of the weather. All told, it's a bad week to start Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer on the Giants as well as Trent Edwards and Lee Evans on the Bills. However, running backs Brandon Jacobs and Marshawn Lynch (and Fred Jackson in deeper leagues) should see quite a workload. We'll let you know if the weather changes, but don't expect it to.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans will play back at home in Week 16 against the Giants, whose secondary ranks 11th in the league. Evans caught two passes in his last home game -- for two touchdowns and 79 yards. Evans has scored in his last three December home games.
Analysis: Wind will be an issue for all quarterbacks and receivers in this week's game, but the Bills should be able to adjust to it. Evans is fine as a No. 2 Fantasy WR even though the Giants have allowed four passing scores in their last five games.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had four catches for 36 yards Sunday in the snow at Cleveland.
Analysis: Evans probably would have done better if the weather wasn't so bad. The Browns have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL, but they played well against Evans. In Week 16, consider Evans a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has had an up-and-down season in 2007, but faces one of the league's worst pass defense in Week 15 when Buffalo heads to Cleveland. He doesn't have more than four catches in any of his last five games, but did score in his only previous meeting with the Browns.
Analysis: Evans came through in a huge way for his Fantasy owners last week when he caught two passes for two touchdowns, including a 70-yard, fourth-quarter bomb, against the Dolphins. Hopefully he can do the same this week against the weak Browns secondary, but he could also vanish into thin air as he does on occasion. Consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR option in Week 15.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught only two passes for 79 yards in Buffalo's 38-17 win over the Dolphins in Week 14, but both went for touchdowns with the second one a monster 70-yard effort.
Analysis: Evans ended a four-game scoreless streak with his pair of touchdowns on Sunday and gave his frustrated Fantasy owners something to smile about. He could be in line for another big outing in Week 15 against the poor Browns defense.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans (illness) did not practice Thursday as the team prepares for Week 14 vs. Miami. It's December in Western New York, and this is historically when Evans hits his stride. Evans has scored four touchdowns in each of his last two Decembers with six touchdowns in 2004. Evans will face off with a familiar foe in the Dolphins in Week 14, one that might technically rank high against the pass (third) but has given up 17 pass touchdowns on the season. Evans hasn't had a monster game against the Dolphins like he did in 2005, when he racked up 117 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: The team did not divulge what happened to Evans, but he probably came down with a cold or stomach illness. Nothing at this time that should keep him sidelined for Week 14, but stay tuned just in case. With the matchup what it is and Trent Edwards proving that he's not a complete slouch at quarterback, Evans isn't a bad pick as a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 14.
News: It's December in Western New York, and this is historically when Bills WR Lee Evans hits his stride. Evans has scored four touchdowns in each of his last two Decembers with six TDs in 2004. Evans will face off with a familiar foe in the Dolphins in Week 14, one that may technically rank high against the pass (third) but has given up 17 pass touchdowns on the season. Evans hasn't had a monster game against the Dolphins like he did in 2005 (117 yards, three touchdowns), but he's perfectly capable of a 75-yard, one touchdown game against them here.
Analysis: With the matchup what it is and Trent Edwards proving that he's not a complete slouch at quarterback, Evans isn't a bad pick as a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 14.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught four passes for 51 yards in Week 13 at Washington.
Analysis: Evans continues to struggle whenever Trent Edwards is the quarterback, but Fantasy owners can still find 50 yards productive in larger leagues. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy receiver for Week 14 vs. Miami if Edwards is the starter once again.
News:Trent Edwards will start at quarterback for the Bills in Week 13 at Washington, and that's not a good thing for WR Lee Evans. In the three games that Edwards started against the Jets, Dallas and Baltimore, Evans had eight catches for 91 yards and no touchdowns. This week, Evans faces a Redskins secondary that could be a mess with players mourning the death of teammate Sean Taylor. Washington is No. 13 in pass defense, but it's unknown how they will play this week.
Analysis: Evans could be in line for a decent outing this week, but the concern is Edwards doesn't get him the ball. Still, Evans has the potential to have a blockbuster game on any week, so consider him a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR this week.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans pulled in only two garbage-time catches for 19 yards in Buffalo's 36-14 loss to the Jaguars in Week 12.
Analysis: This wasn't the time for Evans to revert to his awful early-season form and many of his Fantasy owners might have a crucial loss to thank him for in Week 12. He is always capable of a nice game, as evidenced by his monster outings in Week 8 and 9, but consider him nothing more than a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 13 against the Redskins.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans has not played well in two career games against Jacksonville, totaling seven catches for 70 yards. Evans had caught fire in Week 7 but has regressed over the last two weeks, totaling eight receptions for 105 yards and no touchdowns.
Analysis: The good news for Evans is that he'll face the Jaguars likely without CB Rashean Mathis, which will make life easier for him. The bad news is that he's Buffalo's only legit threat to carve up the Jaguars, and they'll be aiming for him. Try to steer clear of using Evans as anything more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 12.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had four catches for 40 yards in Week 11 vs. New England.
Analysis: We anticipated the matchup against the Patriots was going to be tough, and boy was it. Bills QB J.P. Losman threw for just 173 yards in a game in which the Patriots led heavily throughout. The Bills were in pass-only mode early and still couldn't get anything done. In Week 12 at Jacksonville, Evans and Losman could face similar struggles. Consider Evans a No. 2 or 3 receiver at best for that matchup.
News: In his past four games, Bills WR Lee Evans has 466 receiving yards (116.5 per game). He will look to keep his midseason resurgence going in Week 11 against the vaunted Patriots defense.
Analysis: Evans was held relatively in check by the Dolphins in Week 10, and owners will be hoping he can get back into triple digits against the Patriots. If the Bills are behind early, which is a distinct possibility, Evans should get a ton of targets from J.P. Losman. Consider him a nice No. 2 Fantasy WR option in Week 11.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught only four passes for 65 yards in Buffalo's 13-10 victory over the Dolphins in Week 10.
Analysis: Evans has been a Dolphins-killer in the past, so his weak output on Sunday will have frustrated many of his Fantasy owners. He also might lose his favorite QB, J.P. Losman, in Week 11 against the Patriots as his performance was far from stellar. Still, Evans should be a nice No. 1 Fantasy WR option against New England.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who had a season-best 165 yards last week, including an 8-yard touchdown, has averaged 21.6 yards-per-catch (19 rec., 410 yards) and has six touchdowns (most vs. any opponent) in six games vs. the Dolphins. Buffalo head to Miami in Week 10.
Analysis: Evans has been an absolute nightmare for Miami fans in past seasons and comes into Week 10 on a tear. He is one of the hottest WRs in football and should be unquestionably considered a top-five Fantasy WR this weekend, going up against a pretty pathetic Miami secondary.
News: According to the Buffalo News, every year about this time, Bills WR Lee Evans begins to take his game to another level. This follows a familiar trend for Evans. As a rookie in 2004, he caught 31 passes for 507 yards and seven touchdowns over the last eight games after going 17 for 336 yards and two TDs in the first eight. In 2005, he made 30 of his 48 catches, 509 of his 743 yards and six of his seven touchdown receptions over the second half of the season. During his breakout 2006 campaign in which he had 82 catches for 1,292 yards and eight TDs, Evans totaled 43 receptions for 805 yards and six scores in the last eight games.
Analysis: Evans has actually gotten an early start on his second-half surge. After being held to 12 catches for 101 yards in the Bills' first five games, he has 19 grabs for 401 yards in the last three following Sunday's season-high nine catches and 165 yards while scoring his first touchdown of the season against the Bengals. Hopefully this continues, and Evans should be in line for another big game against Miami in Week 10.
News: After hauling in five catches for 138 yards and a touchdown in Week 8, Bills WR Lee Evans made it two excellent outings in a row when he caught nine passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in Buffalo's 33-21 win over the Bengals in Week 9.
Analysis: Evans got off to a slow start this season, but the fourth-year receiver is starting to show why many considered him a nice sleeper option at his position before the season. He obviously loves playing with J.P. Losman and will surely be hoping the former Tulane QB can hold on to the job in Buffalo. Consider Evans a solid No. 1 WR in Week 10 against a very poor Miami secondary.
News: With his two nice outings in a row, Bills WR Lee Evans is turning heads once again in the Fantasy world. He had five catches for 98 yards in Week 7 and five for 138, including an 85-yard score, in Week 8. He has a good chance to make it three straight solid games when the Bills host the Bengals on Sunday.
Analysis: Evans has made the Fantasy owners who have stuck with him through thick and thin very happy over the last two weeks and with the Bengals pass defense ranked 28th, we have him ranked as a high-end No. 2 WR in Week 9.
News: Lee Evans was running as fast as he could down the sideline when he turned and saw the pass from J.P. Losman heading his way. "It seemed like it hung in the air forever," the Buffalo Bills wide receiver said. "I just tried to go up and make a play on it. It was a matter of who wanted to make the play the most." Evans tugged the ball away from Jets rookie cornerback Darrelle Revis and zipped into the end zone for an 85-yard touchdown with 3:38 left to help lead the Bills to a 13-3 victory at the N.Y. Jets in Week 8. "We both kind of had it," Evans said. "I figure once it's in my hands, it's mine. I tried to be as strong to the ball as possible."
Analysis: Evans finished with 138 yards on five catches, including the 85-yard score. Week 8 represented by far his best performance of the season as he both broke 100 yards and scored a touchdown for the first time. Unfortunately, the Bills still have a more or less incompetent offense -- one that won't make Evans a Fantasy staple any time soon. With the Bills hosting the Bengals in Week 9, though, consider him a No. 2 Fantasy WR. Maybe this big play will inspire him for more.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans totaled a season-high 98 receiving yards in Week 7 and has five or more receptions in two of his last three games. In his last meeting vs. the Jets, back in Week 4, Evans had six receptions for 72 yards -- both of which were season highs until last week.
Analysis: Evans is getting more and more comfortable with QB Trent Edwards with every game and is slowly making his way back to being a decent Fantasy WR. Consider him a low-end No. 2 WR option in Week 8 against the 26th-ranked Jets pass defense.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans wasn't in the same spot Sunday against Baltimore, which helped with his performance of five catches for 98 yards. Evans has been kept under wraps most of this season as opponents are working extra hard to prevent him from having a big impact. Sunday was a break-out performance of sorts for a guy who entered the game with only 12 catches for 113 yards. "I moved around a lot," Evans said in the Buffalo News. "That's one of the things we've been doing the last couple of weeks. We had some opportunities to do some things and we were able to take advantage of it. We were able to get a big play and consistently stay involved throughout the game. When you do that and get people involved it just helps open the offense a little bit."
Analysis: Evans is still not producing at the clip we would like, but it might come Week 8 against the Jets, who own one of the league's worst pass defense. Consider starting Evans in Fantasy leagues for Week 8.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught five passes for 98 yards, including a 54-yard reception, during a Week 7 win over the Ravens. Evans came into the game with 12 receptions for 113 yards.
Analysis: Evans nearly matched his season total in yards in just one game, but the good news is that Evans has totaled two of his best performances in the last three games -- the same time rookie Trent Edwards took over at QB for J.P. Losman. Evans is still not producing at the clip we would like, but it might come Week 8 against the Jets, who own one of the league's worst pass defense. Consider starting Evans in Fantasy leagues for Week 8.
News: It may not be much to go on, but in the Bills' season finale at Baltimore last year, Lee Evans had seven catches for 145 yards and a touchdown. Evans' Fantasy owners wish they could get that kind of production out of Evans in Week 7 when the Bills entertain the Ravens. Only once this year has Evans had more than two catches, and it was in that game where he had more than 17 yards receiving.
Analysis: Evans is expected to get better as the year rolls on (he has a knack for playing well late in the season). And, if there's one area where the Ravens can be beaten, it's via the pass (they've allowed eight passing TDs this season). But playing with a rookie QB against one of the most feared defenses in the NFL is just too much. Sit Lee Evans if you can in Week 7.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who finally showed signs of life in Week 4 by catching six passes for 72 yards, returned back to his low 2007 standards Week 5 against the Cowboys. He caught one pass for 12 yards and now has only 12 catches for 113 yards and no touchdowns this season.
Analysis: Ick. Hopefully, Evans is your only Fantasy bust this season because, if not, you might have a last-place team. The Bills have a bye in Week 6, but hopefully you have better options for Week 7 than Evans when they host the Ravens.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans finally showed up last week and caught six passes for 72 yards from rookie QB Trent Edwards. Evans will get a chance to show the entire nation that he's no bust on Monday night when the Bills host the Cowboys.
Analysis: Edwards and Evans have got off to a good start in their relationship and Evans' owners are probably already dreading the day when J.P. Losman will return to his starting job. Ride Evans while he's hot and make him a No. 3 Fantasy WR if your league has enough slots.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught six passes for 72 yards in Week 4 vs. the N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Evans had more catches in Week 4 than he did in the three weeks combined coming in. The 72 yards are also better than the 29 combined yards he had. Evans has been a big Fantasy letdown, but seemed to mesh well with rookie QB Trent Edwards. He could be on the verge of living up to his Fantasy value, starting in Week 5 vs. Dallas.
News: Will Lee Evans snap out of his funk in Week 4? A year ago at about this time, he broke his season-opening cold spell with an eight-catch, 107-yard performance at home against the Jets, then followed that up with a 91-yard game with a TD in December at the Meadowlands. Over his career, Evans has scored in three of six contests with the Jets (but only one last year, which was his only one since his rookie year). The Jets rank 28th against the pass and have allowed six passing scores through three games and are giving up an average of 264.7 pass yards per game.
Analysis: Perhaps the bigger problem for Evans is that rookie QB Trent Edwards will be under center for the Bills. Edwards showed some flashes against the Patriots last week but isn't expected to be a strong commander for the Bills. With the bye weeks eating up a couple of startable Fantasy receivers, don't lean too hard on Evans. Think of him as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR despite the fact that his matchup suggests otherwise.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught one pass for 7 yards in Week 3 at New England.
Analysis: Evans has just 29 yards on five catches this season. Starting QB J.P. Losman left the game after the first series of the afternoon and rookie QB Trent Edwards struggled in his first NFL appearance and things don't look well for the Bills' receivers for Week 4 vs. the N.Y. Jets. Stay away if at all possible.
News: You may have seen Lee Evans ranked awfully low on our WR rank list this week. Not only is it because Evans has 22 yards on four catches through four games, but also because Evans has had an awful career against the Patriots. We hope you're sitting down when you read the next sentence: In six games against his toughest division rival, Evans owns zero 100-yard games and zero touchdowns. He has a total of 13 catches for 240 yards in that six-game span.
Analysis: Evans has burned many owners in the first two weeks of the season, and if you're starting the Bills WR again this week you must be a sucker for punishment. Expect more tears in your Monday morning coffee unless you bench him.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had another crummy outing, this time at Pittsburgh in Week 2. He had two catches for 17 yards as he was blanketed by Steeler defensive backs. He was thrown at seven times. After the game, Evans didn't use Kevin Everett's injury as a reason for the poor play. "I don't want to use it as an excuse," wide receiver Lee Evans said. "We didn't play very well, especially on the offensive side of the ball. It really didn't take a toll on us. We just didn't play well."
Analysis: Evans' owners should stay the course with their star wide receiver, although the going won't get any easier for him. With inconsistent QB J.P. Losman throwing his way, the Bills play at New England in Week 3. Not a great matchup for the star wideout, to say the least.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught two passes for five yards during a Week 1 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Note to Fantasy owners: Evans doesn't do well against the Broncos. In his last two games, he has a total of four receptions for 10 yards. Ouch. Evans should be in for better days in 2007. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 2 against the Steelers.
News: BuffaloBills.com reports that the Broncos won't stick Champ Bailey on Bills WR Lee Evans exclusively in their Week 1 matchup. "Certain game plans could use that ploy, but when you have Dre Bly on the other side, right now that isn't in our thinking," Bates told the Colorado Springs Gazette. "It could be for certain game plans and we could throw a surprise this week, who knows?"
Analysis: This is pretty good news for Evans, who may be able to come up with some big catches against Dre Bly (who is still a very good NFL cornerback). The last time Lee Evans faced Denver in 2005, he caught two passes for five yards. Granted, he's a better player than he was then, but so is the Broncos secondary, which added Bly this offseason. Treat him like a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR just for this week.
News: The last time Lee Evans faced Denver in 2005, he caught two passes for five yards. Granted, he's a better player than he was then, but so is the Broncos secondary, which added Dre Bly this offseason. That means Evans will be covered by either Bly or that other guy, Champ Bailey.
Analysis: Evans is unquestionably a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR and J.P. Losman's top target, but he may leave many owners disappointed in Week 1 against a star-studded Denver secondary.
News: Lee Evans (calf) rested his injury and did not suit up for Thursday's preseason finale against the Lions in Detroit.
Analysis: Evans should be OK for the start of the regular season. He heads into the season as QB J.P. Losman's favorite target and should remain in that role throughout 2007. With their running game stagnant this preseason, the club might be throwing quite a bit this year, which would make Evans a stud for Fantasy play. Consider him a top-of-the-line No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 5 and 7.
News: BuffaloBills.com reports that a sore calf is expected to keep WR Lee Evans off the field for the Bills' last preseason game at Detroit. Coach Dick Jauron called him a "longshot" to play.
Analysis: Evans should be OK for the start of the regular season. He heads into the season as Losman's favorite target and should remain in that role throughout 2007. With their running game stagnant this preseason, the club could be throwing quite a bit this year, which would make Evans a stud for Fantasy play. Consider him a top-of-the-line No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 5 and 7.
News: The Bills offense finally started showing signs of its big-play potential during Friday's preseason game against the Titans. J.P. Losman shook off an early interception and connected with wide receiver Lee Evans for a 64-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter. Evans finished the game with five receptions for 100 yards.
Analysis: Evans heads into the season as Losman's favorite target and should remain in that role throughout 2007. With their running game stagnant this preseason, the club could be throwing quite a bit this year, which would make Evans a stud for Fantasy play. Consider him a top-of-the-line No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 5 and 7.
News: Lee Evans caught just two passes vs. Atlanta, but he got 42 yards with them, including 36 yards on one grab.
Analysis: Evans remains the No. 1 WR and best offensive weapon in Buffalo's offense. With their running game stagnant this preseason, the club could be throwing quite a bit this year, which would make Evans a stud for Fantasy play. Consider him a top-of-the-line No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 5 and 7.
News: According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Bills are looking for someone in the WR corps to step up and take pressure off No. 1 WR Lee Evans. "It would be nice if somebody would," said offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild. He sees the need for the Bills to establish a reliable, productive No. 2 receiver to lighten the coverage Evans faces. The Bills had some viable receiving options last year in Peerless Price, Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish, but their production (106 combined catches, seven touchdowns) wasn't as good as expected.
Analysis: Evans needs help to continue improving. Still, last year he was a solid No. 2 Fantasy option and he should be again, even without help on the opposite side of the field.
News: The Buffalo News reports that Bills WR Lee Evans looked great in the team's most recent minicamp. The paper cited one play where he beat CB Jason Webster on a stop-and-go sideline route and caught a perfect pass from J.P. Losman. Evans also made several catches during red-zone drills, which has been a point of emphasis for the Bills this offseason.
Analysis: Evans is a truly talented receiver with great speed and hands. Many folks will cite his quarterback as a weakness, but he's found a groove with Losman after the past few years and should be well adjusted to his throws. Moreover, the Bills' upgrades along the O-line and at running back should have a ripple effect on Evans' production. Frankly, we're very high on the former Wisconsin Badger and consider him a top-end No. 2 Fantasy WR, worth a pick between Rounds 4 and 5.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had seven catches for 145 yards and a touchdown (44) in a Week 17 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Evans had an outstanding 2006 season with 1,293 yards and eight touchdowns. And to get 145 yards against one of the best defenses in the league to end the season should only give Evans a boost of confidence heading into 2007. He should be drafted as a No. 2 Fantasy WR in 2007.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown vs. Tennessee in Week 16. Evans also attempted a pass, but did not complete it.
Analysis: Evans has become a top-25 Fantasy WR and should be used as a top-end No. 3 wideout at Baltimore in Week 17.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had five catches for 64 yards and a 37-yard touchdown in a Week 16 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Evans is just shy of 1,150 receiving yards for the season and also had seven touchdown receptions. He has been a pretty reliable Fantasy option this season and could be viewed as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 17 against the Ravens. Evans will likely be a top 20 Fantasy WR on Draft Day 2007.
News: Buffalo WR Lee Evans had three catches for 67 yards and a touchdown against Miami.
Analysis: Consider Evans a No. 2 WR for Week 16 against Tennessee.
News: Lee Evans had two receptions for 91 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown, in Week 14 at N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Evans is a solid No. 2 Fantasy receiver for Week 15 against the Dolphins.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had five receptions for 58 yards in a Week 12 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Evans could not produce a solid encore to follow his Week 11 breakout performance (265 yards, 2 TDs). Still, he is the No. 1 option in Buffalo and should be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 13 against the Chargers.
News: WR Lee Evans was told after the game he set a team record with 265 receiving yards, breaking the total of 255 Jerry Butler had against the Jets on Sept. 23, 1979. No Bill had ever posted two 80-plus yard TD catches in the same game, and only two others in NFL history have done it: San Francisco's John Taylor against the Rams on Dec. 11, 1989, and St. Louis' Torry Holt against Atlanta on Sept. 24, 2000. "It's special," Evans said. "It's hard to put it into words, but it's truly special and I'm honored to be even in those ranks. It's good to celebrate it in a win with my teammates."
Analysis: Making the day even more special for Evans is that his big performance came with former Bills star Eric Moulds in attendance. Moulds, who mentored Evans for two seasons, caught five passes for 68 yards for the Texans. "Moulds means a lot to me. He knows that," Evans said. "I talk to him throughout the season. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, and him the same. He brought me along a long ways, so part of this is dedicated to him." Evans might not have such an easy matchup against the Jaguars in Week 12, but should be used no lower than a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans exploded against the Texans in Week 11 by hauling in two 83-yard touchdown receptions in the first quarter. He finished the game with 11 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Evans had a great day receiving against the Texans defense and his 11 receptions were a season-high. Evans might not have such an easy matchup against the Jaguars in Week 12, but should be used no lower than a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans, who caught five passes against the Colts in Week 10, has 44 catches for 561 yards on the year and is just four receptions from matching his personal high set the past two seasons.
Analysis: Evans should be viewed as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, as he has a knack for getting a lot of receptions. Consider him for that role at Houston in Week 11.
News: Add wide receiver Lee Evans to the growing number of critics of the Bills offense. "It's awful," the Bills receiver said after practice Monday. The usually soft-spoken Evans provided the blunt assessment a day after the Bills increasingly inept offense failed to produce a touchdown in a 17-16 loss at Indianapolis. "It's just been bad. And until we get that fixed, it's going to continue to be bad. ... When you're down in the red zone like that with opportunities to go up in the game and you don't do anything? It's bad. It's just bad all the way around." Evans singled out the offense as the unit that held the Bills back in a game where defense and special teams put Buffalo (3-6) in a position to hand the Colts (9-0) their first loss of the season.
Analysis: Evans should be viewed as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, though he does have a knack for getting a lot of receptions. Consider him for that role at Houston in Week 11.
News: Buffalo RB Lee Evans had five catches for 70 yards against Indianapolis.
Analysis: Evans remains a good No. 2 WR despite the struggles of QB J.P. Losman. Consider Evans a decent start for Week 11 against Houston.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had a 43-yard touchdown catch vs. Green Bay in Week 9. It was one of two catches in the game; he finished with 58 yards.
Analysis: Evans is normally a reception machine but was limited here. Consider him a strong No. 3 WR option when he plays at Indianapolis in Week 10.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans looks to keep his success against NFC teams alive this Sunday against Green Bay at home. He has at least 80 yards receiving in three consecutive games against NFC clubs.
Analysis: Consider Evans a good No. 2 WR against the Packers this week.
News: WR Lee Evans is tied for ninth in the NFL with 37 receptions, good for 430 yards.
Analysis: Eight of Evans' catches have come on third down. Consider Evans a solid No. 2 WR option for Week 9 against Green Bay.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had one catch for 11 yards against the Patriots.
Analysis: Just a bad game for Evans, who has been a good WR this year. Consider Evans a solid No. 2 WR option for Week 9 against Green Bay.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans is on fire. After catching just four passes in the first two weeks of the season, he now ranks third in the AFC with 36 catches. Opponents continue to deny Evans the long ball, but he's getting consistently open on all underneath routes and wracking up numbers.
Analysis: Evans has a difficult matchup this week against New England, but he's playing too good to keep on the bench. Consider him a No. 2 WR this week.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans continued his amazing production, catching eight passes for 82 yards. It was the fourth consecutive game he's had at least seven receptions. With 2,011 career receiving yards in 38 games, he's the fourth fastest Bill to hit the 2,000-yard milestone.
Analysis: Evans has become a stud in reception-based leagues as well as all standard formats as a No. 2 WR option. Keep him active in most weeks, including in Week 7 vs. New England.
News: WR Lee Evans had eight receptions for 82 in Week 6 as the Bills lost 20-17 to the Lions.
Analysis: Evans had as good as game as QB J.P. Losman was going to allow. Evans was a lone bright spot for the Bills. Evans has pretty much evolved into a must-start No. 3 (or low-end No. 2) Fantasy receiver. He has great mobility and has a knack for getting open. Consider him a viable Fantasy option for Week 7 as the Bills play the Patriots.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans was the only Buffalo player to post a nice game at Chicago in Week 5, catching nine passes for 94 yards and a garbage-time touchdown. He caught nine of 10 passes completed to Bills receivers.
Analysis: Evans has pretty much evolved into a must-start No. 3 (or low-end No. 2) Fantasy receiver. He has great mobility and has a knack for getting open. Moreover, his QB, J.P. Losman, has improved (it didn't show against the Bears' amazing defense) and it will show against weaker defenses. That includes the Lions in Week 6 in Detroit -- keep Evans usable in Fantasy play.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught seven passes for 90 yards in Week 4 vs. Minnesota.
Analysis: So much for Evans struggling to connect with QB J.P. Losman. Evans has posted back-to-back solid games and has become a very useful No. 2 receiver in larger leagues. Consider him a No. 3 WR or flex option when the Bills travel to Chicago in Week 5, though.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught eight passes for 107 yards in Week 3 vs. the N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: So much for Evans struggling to connect with QB J.P. Losman. The often criticized QB threw for a career-high 328 yards in the game and gave some semblance of hope to Fantasy owners that there is something to be gained from owning Evans this season. Consider Evans a decent start as a No. 3 WR in Week 4 vs. Minnesota.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had two quiet games against the Jets a year ago as departed veteran Eric Moulds caught 15 passes in the series split. Evans has been tightly guarded through two games as Buffalo's No. 1, but his two receptions last week did result in first downs. Seventy percent of his 100 career catches have moved the chains.
Analysis: Evans will continue to struggle as long as J.P. Losman is his quarterback and he plays in the Bills conservative offense. He always has the potential to make a big play, but that's hard to count on as a Fantasy user. Keep him reserved unless you don't have another option.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had two catches for 19 yards against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Evans should be considered a No. 3 WR against the Jets next week.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans caught eight passes for 182 yards and three TDs in two games against Miami last season. Evans is coming off a tough first week against New England where he had two catches for 25 yards.
Analysis: The Dolphins secondary looked shaky against Pittsburgh in Week 1, so consider Evans a decent No. 2 WR this week.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had two catches for 25 yards.
Analysis: Evans should be considered a No. 3 WR for Week 2 against the Dolphins. As long as J.P. Losman is the starting quarterback, Evans will never reach his full potential.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had an 8-yard catch at Detroit in limited playing time in the team’s preseason finale.
Analysis: Evans has all the tools to be a 1,300-yard receiver in the NFL, but questions about the Buffalo offense remain, including the status of the O-line and the reps Willis McGahee will have. Evans should be viewed as a top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for Fantasy purposes.
News: Evans, who is having a strong preseason for the Bills, had a game-high five receptions for 70 yards in Saturday's game against the Browns.
Analysis: Evans has all the tools to be a 1,300-yard receiver in the NFL, but his quarterbacks are iffy. J.P. Losman is likely cemented as the starting quarterback, so Evans should be viewed as a top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR, worth taking with a middle-round pick.
News: Evans had three receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Evans has all the tools to be a 1,300-yard receiver in the NFL, but his quarterbacks are iffy. Unless Kelly Holcomb, J.P. Losman or even Craig Nall can beat expectations, Evans should be viewed as a top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR, worth taking with a middle-round pick. Expecting about 1,000 yards isn't too much to ask.
News: Evans (shoulder) was able to play in Saturday's preseason game at Carolina, but he did not record any offensive statistics.
News: Bills starting receiver Lee Evans missed practice Thursday night because of a bruised left shoulder. Head coach Dick Jauron referred to the injury as minor and added the player is considered day-to-day. The injury occurred in practice Wednesday, when Evans landed awkwardly after catching a pass. Evans was also held out of the team's walkthrough earlier in the day. Buffalo's first-round draft pick in 2004, he is slotted to take over the No. 1 job after the team traded veteran Eric Moulds to Houston in April.
Analysis: Don't let the injury bug you. Evans has all the tools to be a 1,300-yard receiver in the NFL, but his quarterbacks are iffy. Unless Kelly Holcomb, J.P. Losman or even Craig Nall can beat expectations, Evans should be viewed as a top-end No. 3 Fantasy WR, worth taking with a middle-round pick. Expecting about 1,000 yards isn't too much to ask.
News: BuffaloBills.com reports Lee Evans is listed No. 1 on the team's depth chart. Peerless Price is also listed as a starter, with Roscoe Parrish ranked behind him. Josh Reed is ranked second behind Evans.
Analysis: Despite questions at the quarterback position, Evans still has to be considered a nice sleeper candidate. Consider him in the middle rounds.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans was mostly a disappointment this season, totaling 743 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, both stats down from his rookie numbers. He was very shaky, usually putting up less than 50 or 60 receiving yards. In three games this year, he had 290 yards and six touchdowns.
Analysis: Fantasy owners will remember Evans' 117-yard, three-TD game at Miami and draft him early in '06. Don't be too quick to be one of those people unless Buffalo's QB situation improves dramatically.
News: Lee Evans caught two passes for 17 yards and he rushed once for 39 yards in Week 17 at the N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Evans had an above average season, but he fared much better with J.P. Losman than he did with Kelly Holcomb. Luckily, Losman will likely be the team's starter heading into next season.
News: Lee Evans caught five passes for 107 yards with one touchdown in Sunday's 37-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Analysis: Evans is a decent option in leagues with 12-plus teams for Week 17 at the N.Y. Jets.
News: WR Lee Evans' 58-yard reception last week gave him six catches this year of 40 yards or more, tying him for the NFL lead in that category with four others.
Analysis: Evans could keep the streak alive against a mediocre Miami secondary in Week 15. He's worth rolling with as a No. 3 WR.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had four catches for 83 yards vs. New England in Week 14. He's caught three or more passes in eight of his last nine games.
Analysis: Evans can stay active as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver vs. Denver in Week 15.
News: WR Lee Evans became the first Bill ever to score three touchdowns in one quarter and the eighth Bill to post a three-plus touchdown reception game in last week's loss at Miami. His 117 yards receiving was a new career-high and was the third 100-yard receiving game of his career. All of this comes in time for his first game where he may be the Bills' top receiver because veteran Eric Moulds is expected to be suspended for the Week 14 game vs. New England.
Analysis: We like Evans and his matchup vs. the Patriots, but because J.P. Losman is still throwing him the football, he's only as good as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver.
News: According to reports, the Buffalo Bills have suspended Eric Moulds one game for conduct detrimental to the team. That will mean more chances for Lee Evans in Week 14.
Analysis: Evans is all of the sudden a solid No. 3 option in most leagues against New England and its terrible pass defense.
News: Lee Evans scored three touchdowns in Week 13 at Miami. He caught five passes for 117 yards.
Analysis: Evans started out the game by scoring two touchdowns on two long passes on the Bills' first two drives. After he caught another touchdown pass later in the first quarter, he disappeared and caught only two more passes all game. The huge first quarter may be more of an aberration than a trend so don't get too excited. The Bills face New England in Week 14.
News: Lee Evans had three touchdown catches in the first quarter at Miami.
Analysis: Evans has three catches, two for over 40 yards and all three for touchdowns in the first quarter. He is already over 100 yards.
News: In his last (and only) game at Miami, Bills WR Lee Evans had 110 yards receiving with two touchdowns. However, that was with a different quarterback against a much different defense.
Analysis: Evans has yet to have a 100-yard game this season, and really only has had one outstanding game this season (vs. KC). Evans should remain benched.
News: Lee Evans caught four balls for 69 yards in Week 11 at San Diego.
Analysis: Owners hoping Evans would duplicate his two-touchdown performance from Week 10 have to be disappointed, but did anyone realistically think that was possible? Evans is a fair No. 3 WR for Week 12 vs. Carolina.
News: Lee Evans caught three passes for 66 yards. Two of them went for touchdowns.
Analysis: Evans was the recipient of two nice TD lobs from J.P. Losman. If Losman regains his starting job, Evans could become useful in the second half of the season.
News: Evans had three receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 at Oakland.
Analysis: Despite the touchdown, Evans has minimal Fantasy appeal in most leagues.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans led all Bills with 65 receiving yards on three catches vs. Miami in Week 5. He also had a fumble.
Analysis: Evans could see improved stats now that Kelly Holcomb is his quarterback. Still, he's not a great option vs. the Jets in Week 6.
News: Kelly Holcomb, who is an experienced veteran, will start in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. He has replaced J.P. Losman, who was ineffective in four starts.
Analysis: This can't be anything but good news for Evans, whose numbers suffered with Losman under center. He is a decent No. 3 or 4 option against the 'Fins.
News: Eric Moulds caught two passes for 27 yards with no touchdowns in Sunday's 19-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Analysis: Evans' numbers have been terrible this season. He's no longer considered a solid starter in most leagues.
News: Evans had two receptions in Week 3 against Atlanta, but they were only good for a total of seven yards.
Analysis: Evans, a player with great breakaway speed and gamebreaking ability, has seen limited Fantasy appeal with J.P. Losman struggling at quarterback. A change might need to be made at quarterback before Evans re-emerges as a Fantasy threat.
News: Evans caught only two passes for 12 yards at the Buccaneers Sunday.
Analysis: Buffalo hosts Atlanta in Week 3. Evans should be able to rebound in Week 3, although the Falcons also have a decent defense. Before this game, Evans had 51 career receptions, 41 of which went for first downs. He deserves to be starting as a No. 2 or 3 receiver for the coming week.
News: Bills WR Lee Evans had three catches for 68 yards in Week 1 vs. Houston, including a 42-yard reception.
Analysis: Evans remains a solid No. 3 Fantasy receiver. He should do fine in Week 2 at Tampa Bay.
News: Eric Moulds told BuffaloBills.com what advice he's given second-year player Lee Evans before the '05 season. "I told him, 'The second year is your hardest year, because you proved that you can play,'" Moulds said. "Now they're going to start game-planning for him. ... I just hope that he'll come out, play well and work hard."
Analysis: Moulds is right -- Evans will start garnering attention from opponents, and it could limit his production. He's been working all offseason with fellow sophomore J.P. Losman and should be on the same page with him this year, but Losman's production will tell the tale for both Evans and Moulds.
News: Evans caught eight passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns at San Francisco Sunday.
Analysis: Evans will have a tough matchup in Week 17 against Pittsburgh. He still deserves a starting spot in Fantasy leagues however, since the Bills will be fighting for a playoff spot.
News: Lee Evans caught five passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 at Cincinnati.
Analysis: The rookie out of Wisconsin has really come on since taking the starting job from Josh Reed. He is worth using as a No. 3 or 4 option in all leagues. The Bills travel to San Francisco in Week 16.
News: Lee Evans caught four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against Cleveland. He also carried the ball once for 48 yards.
Analysis: Evans is worth owning as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy receiver in most leagues. The Bills travel to Cincinnati in Week 15.
News: Evans caught four passes for 110 yards and two scores at Miami Sunday.
Analysis: Evans has 10 catches for 180 yards and three scores in his past two games. Start him against the Browns in Week 14.
News: Lee Evans had six receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 at Seattle.
Analysis: Evans has emerged as a decent No. 4 Fantasy receiver or 'flex' player in most leagues. Buffalo plays at Miami in Week 13.
News: Lee Evans had only one reception for 15 yards in Week 10 at New England.
Analysis: Evans is only worth using as a No. 4 receiver or 'flex' player in Fantasy league of 14 or more teams. He is a decent prospect to squirrel away on reserve in dynasty leagues.
News: Lee Evans had five catches for 64 yards and touchdown in Week 9 against the N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Evans started along with Eric Moulds. He can be owned as a No. 4 or 5 Fantasy option in most leagues. The Bills travel to New England in Week 10.
News: Lee Evans caught two passes for 32 yards in Week 6 against Miami.
Analysis: Evans has passed Josh Reed as the No. 2 receiver for Buffalo. He should only be owned as a No. 4 or 5 Fantasy option. The Bills travel to Baltimore in Week 7.
News: Evans only one reception for 46 yards in Week 5 at N.Y. Jets, but it was good for his first-career touchdown.
Analysis: Evans has three straight games with at least one reception for 45 or more yards. He is the team's best deep-threat, warranting a roster spot in most Fantasy leagues which reward longer touchdowns.
News: According to the Buffalo News, despite starting the last two games, rookie Lee Evans is still not listed as the No. 2 receiver for the Bills. That position still has Josh Reed's name on it. So, who is the starter next to Eric Moulds? "They're both starters in our mind," said Bills receivers coach Tyke Tolbert. "Lee and Josh are rotating on every series, so it doesn't matter who starts the game because they are both going to play about the same."
Analysis: Even though they are splitting time, Evans has passed Reed in terms of Fantasy value and should be owned as a No. 4 or 5 option. The Bills play the Jets in Week 5.
News: Lee Evans caught four passes for 93 yards in Sunday's loss to New England.
Analysis: The rookie needs a few more good starts to warrant serious consideration.
News: Evans faces New England for the first time in his NFL career Sunday. He has registered only three catches so far this year, but his 65-yard reception in Week 2 shows he has big-play ability.
Analysis: The Patriots pass defense is one of the stingier units in the league. Evans is not worth starting this week.
News: Evans had only one catch at Oakland Sunday, but it was for 65 yards.
Analysis: Evans might replace Josh Reed as the team's No. 2 receiver, but he is not worth starting in Fantasy leagues yet.
News: Lee Evans served as the No. 3 receiver for Buffalo in the Week 1 game against Jacksonville. Evans caught two passes for 12 yards.
Analysis: Evans has some upside but shouldn't seriously be considered as a Fantasy starter until he can get a starting job with the Bills. Keep him reserved in Week 2 when Buffalo plays the Raiders.
News: According to the Buffalo News, Josh Reed will start alongside Eric Moulds for the Bills this weekend and Lee Evans will serve as the No. 3 receiver. "Lee will be coming in," coach Mike Mularkey said. "We're going to have enough substitutions and personnel groupings that Lee will get a lot of reps. I don't think we'll do like we did in preseason (alternate Reed and Evans each series). I want everybody to get in a flow."
Analysis: Evans has had a great preseason and is worth keeping an eye on. He should be owned in all keeper leagues.
News: According to the Buffalo News, Lee Evans started the Bills preseason game on Saturday ahead of Josh Reed but then on Monday, Reed was back working with the first team in practice.
Analysis: Shows how close the competition is for the No. 2 job along side of Eric Moulds. Whoever is named the starter certainly has the Fantasy edge but both should be considered in larger leagues.
News: According to the Buffalo News, rookie receiver Lee Evans has been working with the first team offense on a consistent basis lately.
Analysis: This is obviously promising news for Evans, but not so good for Josh Reed, who may be getting bumped to No. 3 in Buffalo.
News: According to the Buffalo News, rookie receiver Lee Evans is catching everything thrown his way in training camp.
Analysis: Evans is pushing Josh Reed for the No. 2 job with the Bills. He is definitely one to watch as the preseason goes on.
News: Evans is currently listed at No. 3 at the receiver slot behind Josh Reed and Bobby Shaw for the job opposite Eric Moulds.
Analysis: Evans might not see a lot of touches early on, as he continues to learn the system. He has all the skills to emerge as a solid Fantasy receiver, but that might not happen until later in the season.
News: According to the Buffalo News, rookie receiver Lee Evans was practicing with the first team offense on Monday.
Analysis: Don't read too much into this since the team is rotating other WR's at first team as well as they look to see who will start along with Eric Moulds. Evans' main competition for a starting role is Josh Reed, who was the starter last season.
News: The team's official website reports the Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with first-round pick Lee Evans.
Analysis: Evans is expected to be ready to start training camp on Sunday. He is worth a late-round pick on Draft Day when filling out a roster, as he will be used as a deep threat.
News: According to the Bills official website, Lee Evans is projected to be one of the team's top deep threats this season. "I'll be able to help this offense stretch the field, helping a bit more vertically," Evans said. "I'm trying to get better everyday and if I can keep doing that, then I've got a chance of being successful."
Analysis: Evans warrants a late-round flier in Fantasy leagues with 12-plus teams.
