|
Updated 10/26/2009 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: New Orleans DL Anthony Hargrove had a solid game Week 7 at Miami. He had four tackles and sacked QB Chad Henne twice. | Analysis: Hargrove doesn't make enough plays to be worthy of inclusion in any IDP lineup most of the time. Keep him off of rosters despite the big game. |
Hargrove a changed man for Saints
|
Updated 8/8/2009 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Anthony Hargrove's friends thought he was asking for trouble - yet again - when he rejoined the NFL in New Orleans, of all places. Hargrove doesn't hide that he is a recovering alcoholic, and he recently served a yearlong NFL suspension for being a three-time violator of the league's substance abuse policy. So when the 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive lineman resumed his football career in the home of Mardi Gras revelry, French Quarter bars that stay open all night, and drive-through daiquiris stands, some saw it as a dubious decision. "This is the last place you'd think I'd want to go," Hargrove said. "People were like, 'Man, you could get alcohol anywhere.' And I'm like, 'I don't have to drink it."' | Analysis: Hargrove doesn't make enough plays to be worthy of inclusion in any IDP lineup. Keep him off of rosters despite the nice story. |
DT Hargrove resurfaces with Saints
|
Updated 5/19/2009 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The Saints have signed free-agent defensive end Anthony Hargrove. The Saints hope the move strengthens depth at a position that could be depleted early next season if starting ends Will Smith and Charles Grant are forced to serve four-game suspensions, which remain on appeal in federal court. The 25-year-old Hargrove has had trouble with the NFL's substance abuse policy, violating it three times. After being suspended for all of 2008, he was reinstated this year. He worked out for the Saints last week and team spokesman Greg Bensel said Tuesday that New Orleans had signed him and released end Josh Savage. | Analysis: Hargrove doesn't make enough plays to be worthy of inclusion in any IDP lineup. Keep him off of rosters. |
Hargrove suspended for 2008
|
Updated 1/21/2008 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Buffalo Bills defensive end Anthony Hargrove was suspended without pay for all next season Monday by the NFL after violating the league's substance abuse policy a third time. The violation was Hargrove's second since August, when he was suspended without pay for the first four games of the regular season. | Analysis: A third violation triggers an automatic one-year suspension, and Hargrove must apply to commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement. The NFL did not disclose how Hargrove violated the policy. Violations can result from positive tests, failure to cooperate in the testing program or failing to comply with a treatment plan. Hargrove's agent, Philip Williams, was out of the country and not immediately available for comment. Don't bother drafting Hargrove in any IDP formats. |

| News: Bills DL Anthony Hargrove got his first full sack of the season in Buffalo's 38-17 victory over the Dolphins in Week 14. He finished with two tackles on the day. | Analysis: Hargrove doesn't make enough plays to be worthy of inclusion in any IDP lineup for Week 15 at Cleveland. |
Bills DLs a mess right now
|
Updated 11/28/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The banged-up Bills had 11 players miss practice Wednesday, including starting defensive end Chris Kelsay, who's likely to be out for Buffalo's game at Washington on Sunday because of a sprained left ankle. Coach Dick Jauron stopped short of ruling out Kelsay, but said he was "not overly optimistic" because the third-year starter is still wearing a protective boot. Kelsay said he's been playing with a torn tendon in his ankle for the past month. The problem this time is a severe bone bruise that's limiting his mobility. The Bills' depth at defensive end could be further depleted after backup Ryan Denney aggravated a foot injury last weekend. Denney was held out of practice and his status is uncertain. Without Kelsay and Denney, the Bills would be down to one experienced reserve, Anthony Hargrove; starting defensive tackle Larry Tripplett was limited in practice because of a strained abdomen. | Analysis: When healthy, Kelsay is at best a low-end Fantasy DL, while Denney, Hargrove and Tripplett aren't even on the IDP radar. Expect to not use any of these players in Week 13 action. |
Hargrove pleads guilty to charge
|
Updated 10/15/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Bills DE Anthony Hargrove pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct for a fight with police outside a nightclub in August. He was fined $300 fine and must perform 200 hours of community service. Hargrove was charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief and harassment after police said he broke an officer's eyeglasses Aug. 5. The Bills were staying in nearby Pittsford for training camp. "It's another thing I can finally get to put behind me," Hargrove said outside court. "I really now get the focus on football. ... The city of Rochester, I'm asking them for forgiveness for what happened early in August and hopefully now we can start some positive things." | Analysis: The 24-year-old player was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He played for the first time during a loss to Dallas on Oct. 8. He shouldn't be on a Fantasy roster. |
Hargrove back from suspension
|
Updated 10/4/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Bills DE Anthony Hargrove, back from a four-game substance-abuse suspension, practiced fully on Wednesday and will likely be activated for Buffalo's Week 5 game vs. Dallas as the Bills need help at the DE position. "I want to come out here and show them I can play on Monday night," said Hargrove. | Analysis: Hargrove will bolster an injury-riddled Bills D but won't put up enough key defensive stats to warrant any consideration in Fantasy leagues. |
Bills might release Hargrove
|
Updated 8/12/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Anthony Hargrove is running out of second chances with the Buffalo Bills, who are considering releasing the defensive end after he landed in trouble for the second time in a week. "Releasing him is an option," coach Dick Jauron said Sunday, a day after the NFL suspended Hargrove for the first four regular-season games without pay for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Jauron said he's still gathering information before deciding the status of Hargrove, who is entering his fourth season. But Jauron added the team will attempt to add a veteran defensive end to bolster the position, where the Bills only have three experienced players. | Analysis: The suspension capped a difficult week for Hargrove, who was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors stemming from a confrontation with police outside a Rochester night club in the early morning of Aug. 5. Police say Hargrove broke an officer's glasses. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 21. Hargrove potentially faces further punishment if the NFL determines he violated its code of conduct policy. Citing a confidentiality clause, the league did not announce what banned substance was found in Hargrove's system. It is time to pass on Hargrove in all Fantasy IDP leagues. |
Hargrove suspended four games
|
Updated 8/11/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Troubled Buffalo Bills defensive end Anthony Hargrove was suspended for four games without pay by the NFL on Saturday for violating the league's substance abuse policy. In announcing the suspension, the league did not say what banned substance Hargrove tested positive for. Under league rules, players face a minimum four-game suspension for the first positive test, followed by an eight-game suspension for second-time violators. | Analysis: The suspension is the latest problem for Hargrove after the third-year NFL player was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors stemming from a confrontation with police outside a Rochester nightclub last weekend. Hargrove pleaded not guilty to the charges and also apologized to fans and his teammates, saying: "I need to hold myself up better than this. ... It's time for me to be a man and take responsibility in myself." Hargrove is entering his second season with Buffalo after the Bills acquired him in a trade with St. Louis in October. He appeared in 10 games with Buffalo last season and was expected to continue his role this year as one of the team's two primary backups. He has no Fantasy value at this time. |

| News: Buffalo Bills backup DE Anthony Hargrove pleaded not guilty Monday to several misdemeanor charges stemming from a weekend confrontation with police outside a nightclub. Hargrove was scheduled to appear in Rochester city court again Thursday morning. It's not clear whether the hearing will prevent Hargrove from traveling with the Bills that day for their preseason opener at New Orleans on Friday. Hargrove was charged with harassment, resisting arrest and criminal mischief after an altercation outside a Rochester nightclub early Sunday morning. According to police, Hargrove was arguing with a bouncer when police arrived. He is accused of shoving an officer in the face and breaking his glasses. | Analysis: Hargrove is entering his second season with Buffalo after the Bills acquired him in a trade with St. Louis in October. He appeared in 10 games with Buffalo last season and was expected to continue his role this year as one of the team's two primary backups. He has no Fantasy value at this time. |

| News: Buffalo Bills reserve defensive end Anthony Hargrove was charged with several misdemeanors after a confrontation with police outside a nightclub early Sunday. Hargrove was one of hundreds of people involved in an altercation outside the Venu Night Club around 2 a.m., Rochester police said. He was arguing with a bouncer when police arrived and is accused of shoving an officer in the face, breaking his glasses but not injuring him. Hargrove was charged with harassment, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. He was sent to the Monroe County Jail on $1,100 bail. | Analysis: The Bills are holding training camp in suburban Rochester, but Sunday was a day off. Hargrove was limited in practice over the past week with a hamstring injury. He's entering his fourth NFL season. The Bills acquired him in a trade with St. Louis in October. Hargrove played 10 games with the Bills last season, registering 25 tackles and a sack. Hargrove likely won't produce enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy IDP leagues. |
Bills defense keeps two linemen
|
Updated 4/17/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The Buffalo Bills have retained restricted free agent defensive linemen Tim Anderson and Anthony Hargrove. Both players accepted Buffalo's tender offers on Tuesday for the upcoming season. Anderson, the Bills' third-round pick in the 2004 draft, has been a part-time starter at defensive tackle over the past two seasons. He finished with 38 tackles in 15 games last year, but was surpassed on the team's depth chart by the emergence of rookie Kyle Williams. Hargrove, acquired in a trade with St. Louis in October, is a three-year NFL veteran who finished with 25 tackles and a sack in 10 games with Buffalo. The defensive end's best game came when he had six tackles in Buffalo's season-finale against Baltimore. | Analysis: Neither lineman will put up enough stats to warrant use in 2007 IDP league play. |
Bills tender two defenders

Updated 2/28/2007 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Bills defensive linemen Anthony Hargrove and Tim Anderson have been tendered offers, according to BuffaloBills.com. If either player signs an offer sheet with another team, the Bills have a week to match it or get a draft pick equal to the round the player was drafted in. | Analysis: Neither player should be considered for use in standard IDP league play in 2007. |
Bills defense records three sacks
|
Updated 11/26/2006 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The Bills yielded 323 yards and 24 points to the Jaguars in a Week 12 win. The Bills were able to force one turnover and get three sacks on QB David Garrard. DL Larry Tripplett had 1 1/2 sacks, DL Anthony Hargrove had one sack and DL Aaron Schobel came up with 1/2 sack. | Analysis: The Bills defense had a fairly decent day against the Jaguars, but will have a much tougher task ahead in Week 13. The Chargers come to town and it is recommended you use another DST for Fantasy purposes. Schobel is the only player worth using for Week 13 in IDP leagues. |
Bills acquire DE Hargrove

Updated 10/16/2006 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The St. Louis Rams traded DE Anthony Hargrove to the Buffalo Bills on Monday for a fifth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. | Analysis: Hargrove lost his starting job with the Rams after skipping two days of practice and meetings earlier this season. He is not worth using in IDP leagues. His loss does not affect the value of the Rams DST, nor does it increase the appeal of the Bills DST. |
Rams deal DE Hargrove to Bills
|
Updated 10/16/2006 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: The Buffalo Bills traded a fifth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for DE Anthony Hargrove. Hargrove was a potential starter for the Rams but fell out of favor and even was missing from the team for a short spell. | Analysis: Hargrove shouldn't be any better of a Fantasy option in Buffalo than he was in St. Louis. This news shouldn't impact Fantasy owners. |

| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Notable inactives for the Seahawks-Rams game in Week 6 include: Seahawks QB David Greene (emergency QB), RB Shaun Alexander, WR Bobby Engram, TE Jerramy Stevens, DE Joe Tafoya and DT Craig Terrill. For the Rams, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (emergency QB), FB Paul Smith, DB J.R. Reed, CB Fakhir Brown, LB Jon Alston and DE Anthony Hargrove will be inactive. | Analysis: Outside of Alexander, Engram and Stevens, none of these players are reliable options for use in Fantasy Football. |
Hargrove making peace with team
|
Updated 9/28/2006 |
| Anthony Hargrove, DT NO | |
| News: Rams DE Anthony Hargrove was back at practice Wednesday, working with the second unit and on the scout team after missing two days of work last week and being inactive for Sunday's game against Arizona. Hargrove talked to the team before practice. "Very appropriate," coach Scott Linehan said of what Hargrove said. "He basically just said that he'd like to re-establish himself and prove to the guys that he's sorry about the way it went and that was really it. Then they moved on. It wasn't anything more than that." | Analysis: Hargrove has some work to do before making it back into the starting lineup. He has no Fantasy value in IDP leagues until he is once again named a starter. |
