News: Just a week after being released by the Falcons, ESPN reports that the Chiefs have agreed to sign free agent Dunta Robinson to a three-year deal. The deal is expected to become official once the free agency period begins on March 12.
Analysis: The Chiefs desperately need help defensively, which is why the locked up the veteran cornerback right away. He finished last season with 67 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception and eight passes defensed. Robinson could be an important part of Kansas City's defense, but his lack of interceptions may hinder his Fantasy value. Continue to ignore him in all formats on Draft Day.
News: According to multiple reports, the Falcons will release Dunta Robinson on Friday.
Analysis: The veteran cornerback finished last season with 67 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception and eight passes defensed. It's been a long time since he's been an effective Fantasy option and it stands to remain that way.
News: Falcons defensive back Dunta Robinson took a blow to the head midway through the first quarter Week 17 against the Buccaneers and had to leave the game. He didn't make a statistical contribution before leaving. "Dunta, I think, will be fine," coach Mike Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We have two weeks."
Analysis: Robinson is an important part of the Falcons defense, but his lack of interceptions makes him not so valuable in Fantasy. If he suffered a concussion, he might have to sit out the Falcons' first playoff game, but either way, he won't be highly targeted in Fantasy IDP leagues next year.
News: Falcons defensive back Dunta Robinson had his most productive game of the season in Week 16 against the Lions, as he reached double-digit tackles for the first time. Robinson came up with 10 stops in the game, matching his total from the previous two games, in a 31-18 win.
Analysis: Robinson now has 80 tackles on the season, putting him within reach of his career-high total of 88, recorded back in 2005. He is in the midst of his best season since 2006, but remains more of a low-end Fantasy IDP option with just one game remaining in the season.
News: Falcons defensive back Dunta Robinson was a little banged up in the Week 12 win at Tampa Bay Sunday. Robinson had to leave the game for a stretch but eventually returned and closed out a solid performance. Robinson recorded six solo stops in the game and also had a sack of quarterback Josh Freeman.
Analysis: Robinson has 53 tackles on the season to go with 1 1/2 sacks and an interception. He's been a fine defensive option for the Falcons but a low-end option in IDP formats.
News: One week after recording his first interception of the season, defensive back Dunta Robinson made another big contribution to the Falcons defense Week 6 against the Raiders. He tied for the team lead with nine tackles, including eight solo. He's now averaging 6.8 tackles over his last four games.
Analysis: If Robinson continues his recent pace, his tackles alone will earn him some value in Fantasy IDP leagues. He generally isn't a great source of interceptions, which is why his ownership percentage is so low, but keep an eye on those tackles.
News: Defensive back Dunta Robinson, who had a combined three interceptions in his first two years with the Falcons, recorded his first of 2012 Week 5 at Washington. It came off backup quarterback Kirk Cousins, who took over for the concussed Robert Griffin III. Robinson also had six tackles, including three solo.
Analysis: Robinson is a decent tackler for a defensive back, but he doesn't offer enough tackles to make up for his lack of interceptions. Unless his pick this week begins a trend, he belongs on waivers in the majority of Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson looked lost in coverage at times on Monday night in the Week 16 loss at New Orleans. That said, Robinson came up with an interception of quarterback Drew Brees in the second half. Robinson finished the game with four tackles and the pick.
Analysis: Robinson recorded just his second interception of the season in the Week 16 game. He now has 49 tackles. Fantasy owners should consider Robinson just a low-end Fantasy option heading into the Week 17 regular-season finale.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson did something against the Titans in Week 11 that he hadn't done since 2010 -- pick off a pass. He intercepted QB Matt Hasselbeck in the first quarter and finished with three passes defended in the 23-17 win. He also posted three tackles.
Analysis: Robinson has posted two interceptions over the last three seasons as opponents have learned not to throw his way too often. That being the case, continue to view the 29-year-old as more of a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson left the team's Week 3 game at Tampa Bay with an apparent neck injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Robinson, who was fined earlier this week for his hit on Philadelphia WR Jeremy Maclin in Week 2, is questionable to return.
Analysis: Robinson is a key part to the Falcons secondary as he's amassed 12 tackles through the first two games of the season. However, he has just one interception in 17 games with Atlanta and should be viewed as a low-end option in Fantasy IDP formats.
News: The NFL announced on Monday that Falcons DB Dunta Robinson has been fined $40, 000 for his hit on Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin during Week 2. Robinson made helmet-to-helmet contact with Maclin, which caused him to leave the game briefly.
Analysis: Robinson has racked up 12 tackles through the first two games this season and remains one of the better members of the Falcons secondary. This is the second year in a row he has been disciplined for big hits. While he is a solid cornerback, teams tend to shy away from Robinson so continue to view him as a low-end option in IDP formats.
News: Falcons coach Mike Smith talked Tuesday about the hamstring injury to CB Dunta Robinson that has sidelined the cornerback since Aug. 15. Dunta is doing the rehabilitation runs on the side right now," Smith said. "Our anticipation is that he wont play this week (against Pittsburgh), but he is making improvements. Its not nearly (as serious) as last year when he pulled his hamstring and basically missed the entire training camp.
Analysis: Robinson hasn't had an 80-tackle season since 2006. Part of it is because he had a few injury-plagued seasons. The other part is that he has become a decent NFL corner that teams don't always test him. Robinson is a low-end Fantasy DB to begin with, so continue to treat him as such.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson will be held out of Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars because of a hamstring issue. The injury is not believed to impact his status for the beginning of the regular season.
Analysis: Robinson is one of the better cornerbacks in all of football, but that doesn't necessarily translate to good Fantasy play. He had just 55 tackles and one interception in 2010, making him a low-end DB at best. Taarget Robinson as such on Draft Day as he should be good to go for Week 1.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson recovered a fumble for the first time this season Week 14 at Carolina. He also had three tackles, including two solo.
Analysis: Robinson is a decent cornerback, but he doesn't get a ton of interceptions or tackles, making him not much of a Fantasy option. One fumble recovery isn't reason to claim him off the waiver wire.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson, who missed Week 7 against the Bengals after suffering a concussion in Week 6, is active for Week 9 against the Buccaneers. He was also dealing with a knee injury.
Analysis: Robinson is a decent cornerback, but he doesn't contribute enough statistically to make much of an impact in Fantasy IDP leagues. Still, his return will no doubt help the Falcons DST.
News: Atlanta's Dunta Robinson returned to practice on Wednesday for first time since suffering a concussion and has been cleared to play this weekend. The Falcons cornerback practiced and hopes to play Sunday against the Buccaneers. Robinson suffered a concussion after a brutal head-to-head hit on Philadelphia receiver DeSean Jackson on Oct. 17. Robinson was fined $50,000, but still hopes to overturn it on appeal.
Analysis: In six games with Atlanta, Robinson has 19 solo tackles, three passes defended and no interceptions. He is a solid cornerback but teams tend to shy away from him, giving him limited Fantasy appeal in IDP formats.
News: Falcons coach Mike Smith doesn't know if Falcons DB Dunta Robinson will be cleared to return to practice this week. Robinson sustained a concussion and left the game following a helmet-to-helmet hit with Eagles WR DeSean Jackson in Week 6. Smith indicated that Robinson has passed two early requirements mandated by the NFL for players returning from concussions -- earning a good score on a computerized "impact test" and receiving a positive report from an independent neurosurgeon. "That's really just the first step to getting back," Smith said Monday. "Then they have to go through practices where they do not have contact, and they [can] ramp it up as the week goes on." Atlanta hosts Tampa Bay in Week 9. Robinson is appealing the $50,000 fine he received from the NFL for inadvertently knocking out Jackson.
Analysis: In six games with Atlanta, Robinson has 19 solo tackles, three passes defended and no interceptions. It is a good sign that he has passed some of the concussion tests but Fantasy owners should wait and see if he practices during the week before activating him for Week 9. Robinson is a solid cornerback but teams tend to shy away from him, giving him limited Fantasy appeal in IDP formats.
News: After the Falcons' 39-32 win against the Bengals in Week 7, Atlanta DB Dunta Robinson (head) said he has received medical clearance after sustaining a concussion last week against Philadelphia.
Analysis: Robinson didn't play in Week 7 and obviously won't play during the team's bye in Week 8, but he'll be available to play Week 9 against the Buccaneers. He's a pretty good cornerback but doesn't contribute enough statistically to make much of an impact in Fantasy.
News: Falcons coach Mike Smith says while CB Dunta Robinson is "much better" after suffering a concussion, the cornerback still has not been cleared to play. Robinson missed Wednesday's practice because of the injury. He is listed as a starter for Week 7 on Atlanta's unofficial depth chart. However it is doubtful he'll play against the Bengals. The NFL fined Robinson $50,000 Tuesday for his hit on Eagles WR DeSean Jackson that resulted in a concussion for both players. CB Chris Owens will start if Robinson cannot play
Analysis: Robinson has yet to record an interception or sack in 2010. He is one of those players that is a very good NFL defensive back, but since he isn't always racking up stats, than that makes him a less than desirable Fantasy option. Robinson has low-end Fantasy appeal when healthy.
News: CB Dunta Robinson (concussion) is listed as a starter for Week 7 on Atlanta's unofficial depth chart. However it is doubtful he'll play against the Bengals. The NFL fined Robinson $50,000 Tuesday for his hit on Eagles WR DeSean Jackson that resulted in a concussion for both players. CB Chris Owens will start if Robinson cannot play

News: Falcons CB Dunta Robinson (head) is going through league-mandated concussion tests and will have to be cleared by an independent doctor before being able to play in Week 7 against the Bengals. Robinson hit Eagles WR DeSean Jackson on a pass play Sunday in Week 6 that resulted in injuries to both players.
Analysis: When healthy, Robinson is a solid cover corner, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Keep an eye on his status heading into Week 7 against the Bengals, but he's not worth using in the majority of IDP leagues.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson left in the second quarter Week 6 at Philadelphia following a nasty collision with WR DeSean Jackson and didn't return. After the game, Falcons coach Mike Smith gave no indication when he would return. "He seems to be fine," Smith said of the cornerback Atlanta signed as a free agent in the offseason. "It was a very violent collision. I saw him and knew he couldn't return, and that's all I really know." Robinson finished the game with two solo tackles and has yet to record an interception this season.
Analysis: Both players stayed on the turf for several minutes before being helped from the field. Jackson dropped a pass when hit by Robinson, who led with his head and hit Jackson in the helmet. Robinson was flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver. Robinson's value is higher in real life than in Fantasy. He hasn't had more than two interceptions in a season since his rookie year, making him no more than a last resort in IDP leagues. He should remain on waivers regardless of this injury.
News: Atlanta cornerback Dunta Robinson is eager to prove the Falcons made a smart move to guarantee him $22.5 million as a free agent six months ago. There's no better way to do so than helping Atlanta shut down quarterback Drew Brees and the Super Bowl champion Saints. When the Falcons (1-1) visit New Orleans (2-0) on Sunday, Robinson will face Brees for the first time since 2004, when he was a rookie in Houston's season opener and Brees played for San Diego. "Any time you're facing the absolute very best in the business, you've got to be happy because that's your goal - to be the best," Robinson said Thursday. "Drew is definitely one of those top tier quarterbacks in this league, and we definitely see it as a challenge."
Analysis: Robinson will get thrown at because the Saints put the ball in the air a lot, so there will be chances for him to make some plays. But because he typically doesn't put up a lot of stats, he shouldn't be owned in Fantasy play. Look elsewhere for DB help.
News: Atlanta coach Mike Smith thinks CB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) will be ready for Pittsburgh in Week 1 after missing each preseason game. "It's one of the many concerns you have as a coach," Smith said. "Believe me, you're going through all types of scenarios and that's one of them." Robinson believes he'll be ready to play against the Steelers. "No it's not a concern," Robinson said. "Eventually I have to play. It's a situation I can't really think about."
Analysis: Robinson is in his first year with Atlanta, but he is a seasoned veteran and knows how to play the game. Robinson had no interceptions in 2009 with Houston and is likely considered the Falcons' best corner, so he might not get as many passes thrown his way again. He is merely a low-end Fantasy DB to open the season.
News: Falcons DB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) did not dress for Thursday's preseason game against the Jaguars. However, head coach Mike Smith hinted at earlier in the week that Robinson should be ready for Week 1 since he has practiced for more than a week at full speed.
Analysis: Keeping Robinson sidelined is merely a precaution. He is in his first year with Atlanta, but he is a seasoned vet and knows how to play the game. Robinson had no interceptions in 2009 with Houston and is likely considered the Falcons' best corner, so he might not get as many passes thrown his way again. He is merely a low-end Fantasy DB to open the season.
News: It remains unclear whether or not Atlanta CB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) will play against Jacksonville in the preseason finale. But coach Mike Smith hinted that Robinson should be ready by Week 1, saying he's practiced the last 10 days at full speed.
Analysis: Robinson has been a solid cover corner for a few years now. In fact, over six seasons, he has 13 interceptions. Without being a big-time tackler, Fantasy owners in IDP leagues really don't have to worry about his injury.
News: Falcons CB Dunta Robinson remains a question mark to make his 2010 debut in Friday's game against the Dolphins, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The big free-agent signee has yet to play because of a hamstring injury, but might be held out again as a precaution. Its frustrating, Robinson said about not playing. Its not fun sitting and watching football when you love to play football. At the same time, I know Ill be needed for a 16-game stretch. Theyre not going to need me sporadically.
Analysis: Robinson is a very good cover corner, so good that opposing offenses have looked away from him. In six seasons, he's recorded only 13 interceptions. And he hasn't been a big tackler since early in his career, so he's of little use to Fantasy owners in IDP leagues. Robinson can be ignored on Draft Day.
News: Falcons CB Dunta Robinson did not play in Friday's preseason opener against the Chiefs. He has been bothered by a tight hamstring and according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, likely won't play until Atlanta's third exhibition game.
News: Atlanta CB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) was on the sideline once again on Monday, as he missed his second-straight day of practice. Coach Mike Smith has said Robinson will be monitored closely as training camp continues.
Analysis: Robinson recorded no interceptions in 16 games for the Texans last season, but he did total 64 tackles. Atlanta acquired Robinson during the offseason and signed him to a six-year deal. He picked off six passes as a rookie in 2004, but managed just seven over his last five years. Being in Atlanta Robinson might see a few more chances at interceptions, but he remains a late-round Fantasy DB in IDP leagues this year.
News: Falcons head coach Mike Smith said CB Dunta Robinson has a "tight hamstring" and will be looked at closely. "He was out (Sunday) because of a tight hamstring," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "He's going to be like all of our guys like Todd McClure and Tony Gonzalez, were going to manage those guys. Right now, we are going to see how he feels (Monday) and see if hes ready to go."
Analysis: Robinson was a key free-agent acquisition for the Falcons in the offseason, signing a six-year mega deal. Robinson recorded no interceptions in 16 games for the Texans last season, but he did total 64 tackles. He has managed just seven interceptions in his last five seasons after picking off six as a rookie in 2004. The fact he will be playing opposite Brent Grimes, who had six interceptions last season, might give Robinson a few more chances at interceptions. But he is still nothing more than a late-round Fantasy DB in IDP leagues.
News: The Atlanta Falcons have signed free-agent cornerback Dunta Robinson, the Houston Texans' career interceptions leader, to a six-year, $57 million contract. Robinson's signing is important because the Falcons finished 28th in the league against the pass last season. The native of Athens, Ga., had 13 interceptions in the last six seasons with Houston. "This is something I've always dreamed about growing up in Athens, Ga.," Robinson said. "This was the first professional team that I wanted to play for. I'm home. This is where I need to be. Here is where I'm most comfortable."
Analysis: Robinson will be a huge upgrade in Atlanta. The Falcons desperately needed help in the secondary, and Robinson is one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL. As a cover corner, he doesn't have much value in formats utilizing IDPs.
News: The Texans will not use their franchise tag on CB Dunta Robinson, according to the Houston Chronicle. He will be allowed to test free agency as an unrestricted player.
Analysis: Robinson will be a popular player in free agency, but his departure makes the Texans' secondary a problem once again. But he's an oft-injured corner who has trailed off statistically over the years. Fantasy owners shouldn't be bothered with this news -- if anything it gives Robinson another shot to step up and play big.
News: The Texans had several defensive players do well Sunday against the Colts, led by rookie LB Brian Cushing, who had 11 tackles and an interception. Bernard Pollard had 10 tackles. Dunta Robinson had seven tackles. DeMeco Ryans had seven tackles. Mario Williams had two tackles and a sack. Connor Barwin had one tackle and a sack. Brice McCain had an interception.
Analysis: The Texans have some solid defensive players in Williams, Ryans and Cushing. Plan on using all your regular Texans in IDP leagues in Week 13 at Jacksonville.
News: Houston Texans CB Dunta Robinson has been fined $25,000 by the team for the "pay me Rick" shoes he wore during Sunday's game. Robinson was given the fine for conduct detrimental to the team. It was first reported by the Houston Chronicle. The shoes targeted general manager Rick Smith. Robinson has been that he and the Texans were unable to reach a long-term contract despite signing his franchise tender more than a week ago. He says he won't appeal the fine, but told The Associated Press on Thursday that he wants to talk to Smith about the money being donated to a Boys and Girls Club or a needy family. Robinson started Sunday after less than a week of practice and had one tackle in Houston's 24-7 loss to the New York Jets.
Analysis: Robinson needs to worry about his play on the field. Consider him a low-end DB in IDP leagues for Week 2 at Tennessee.
News: Houston Texans starting cornerback Dunta Robinson ended his holdout on Sunday, signing the one-year deal that the team had been offering all along. He took his physical early in the morning, then worked out for coaches and said there are no hard feelings. "I feel like being a rookie all over again," Robinson said. "I walked in here and all the guys they welcome me with open arms with a lot of high-fives and a lot of hugs. It's good to be back."
Analysis: Robinson balked when the team placed the franchise tag on him last February, saying he wanted more than the $9.957 million that came with the designation. He finally had to accept the offer Sunday. "I did what I felt I had to do," he said. "I didn't get what I wanted, but I'm here and I'm ready to go." Coach Gary Kubiak also said there was no animosity about Robinson holding out for the entire training camp. Kubiak expects Robinson to play in the season opener against the New York Jets in Reliant Stadium next Sunday, but he couldn't say how much. Robinson should be considered a low-end DB in IDP leagues this year.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans DB Dunta Robinson will have to play out this season as the team's franchise player after failing to sign a long-term deal Wednesday. Robinson currently remains unsigned and will not be able to negotiate a long-term deal with the Texans until the 2009 season ends. If he signs his franchise tag, Robinson will get $9.957 million on the one-year contract. Robinson said he was prepared to sit out training camp and part of the season. If the five-year veteran sits out the regular season, Robinson would lose $585,705 a game. After the season, the Texans will have a few options. They can sign him to a long-term contract, franchise him again or allow him to become an unrestricted free agent and lose him without any compensation from another team.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Robinson during training camp and if he signs. He should be considered a low-end DB in IDP leagues this year.
News: NFL Network reports that the Texans have given CB Dunta Robinson the franchise tag. As such, Robinson will be offered a one-year guaranteed deal for nearly $10 million, the average salary of the five highest-paid cornerbacks. He can still shop himself around, but if he signs with another team and the Texans don't match, the club will receive two first-round picks as compensation. That's an unlikely scenario as Robinson came off an ACL tear suffered in '07 that limited him to just 11 games in 2008. He totaled 35 tackles, six passes defensed and two interceptions in those 11 games (six starts) in '08.
Analysis: Robinson was once considered a top NFL cornerback and could reclaim that notoriety by earning his salary in 2009. The Texans' secondary has long been a weakness, and he could help stop that. His IDP value is minimal since he's not a major tackle producer, so consider him no better than a reserve Fantasy DB worth a late-round pick in deeper drafts this summer.
News: Houston DB Dunta Robinson picked off a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass in Houston's destruction of the Bengals in Week 8. Robinson finished with nine tackles in the game. Robinson set a Texans record with his 12th career interception. Robinson, who returned last week after sitting out almost a year with injuries, received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a dance after the interception.
Analysis: Robinson has a chance to make an impact in Fantasy IDP leagues and proved he's healthy with his performance against the Bengals. If he continues to put numbers together like this, he'll be well worth starting in deeper IDP leagues. The Texans play at Minnesota in Week 9 and Robinson is still a risky start for that week.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said DB Dunta Robinson played a bit more than they had planned Week 7 against the Lions but was feeling fine on Monday. He had been out for almost a year after suffering serious knee and hamstring injuries.
Analysis: Robinson has a chance to make an impact in Fantasy IDP leagues, but give him a chance to prove his health first. He might not end up doing enough statistically to matter in Fantasy, as happened Sunday.
News: The Texans activated cornerback Dunta Robinson from the PUP list on Friday. Robinson has been out since November, when a collision with a teammate tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and ripped his hamstring off the bone. He returned to practice Wednesday and could play Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Analysis: Robinson was considered a quality cornerback before the injury, and it remains to be seen if he can regain that status from before his injury. He's worth a flier in the deepest of IDP leagues at this point.
News: If things go well in his return to this week, Texans DB Dunta Robinson could play Week 7 against the Lions. Texans coach Gary Kubiak knows his team is looking forward to the return of one of its defensive leaders. "It's been a long, long haul for him,and he's worked extremely hard," Kubiak said. "He's had this day earmarked and his teammates think a lot of him, so I know they are excited for him to get back on that field."
Analysis: One of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, Robinson is coming back from a torn right ACL and a hamstring injury. He has a chance to make an impact in Fantasy IDP leagues, but give him a chance to prove his health first. He might not end up doing enough statistically to matter in Fantasy.
News: The Texans kept CB Dunta Robinson on the reserve/PUP list, killing the chances for him to play in the club's first six games of the regular season. After six weeks, Robinson has a three-week window to be activated. If he's not activated then, he's out for the season.
Analysis: One of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, Robinson is coming back from a torn right ACL and a hamstring injury. Chances are that if he plays this season, it won't be for more than half of the regular season. He's worth a look off the waiver wire in a couple of months.
News: The Texans expect Dunta Robinson to return by midseason. The cornerback doesn't plan on waiting that long. Robinson badly injured his right knee and hamstring in a pileup while trying to make a tackle last November. He had surgeries to repair both injuries, and doctors told him he'd need a year to get back on the field. Robinson is on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He can be taken off before the regular season begins, but if he isn't he'll have to wait until after the sixth game. The Texans have one game after that before their bye Oct. 26. Coach Gary Kubiak expects Robinson to make his 2008 debut the following week at Minnesota. "Our plan all along is that we're expecting him back at midseason," Kubiak said. "Our football team is looking very forward to that. He's been doing a great job with his rehab. He's come a long, long way."
Analysis: Robinson is a low-end DB when healthy. Don't plan on drafting him in any leagues and hope he can return prior to November at 100 percent. When he does, he's worth a pickup off the waiver wire in deeper leagues.
News: Texans DB Dunta Robinson is reportedly working out like a fiend at Dr. James Andrews' rehab facility in Alabama after being placed on injured reserve in November with a knee injury but still might not be ready until November of 2008. Robinson's 2007 season was cut short after nine games when he got hurt. He finished with 34 tackles (29 solo) and two interceptions.
Analysis: Robinson is a low-end DB when healthy. Don't plan on drafting him in any leagues and hope he can return prior to November at 100 percent.
News: The Texans placed DB Dunta Robinson on the injured reserve Tuesday. Robinson tore his right anterior cruciate ligament and injured his hamstring making a tackle against Oakland.
Analysis: It is safe to release Robinson in all leagues. He has no more value in IDP leagues this season.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, Texans DB Dunta Robinson underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee and to attach a torn hamstring in his right leg. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery in Birmingham, Ala. Robinson won't be able to return to Houston for 10 to 12 days after the surgery.
Analysis: Robinson is likely done for the year, although he hasn't been added to the IR list just yet. Drop him in all leagues if you still own him.
News: The Houston Chronicle, Texans DB Dunta Robinson will have surgery to repair his torn ACL on Thursday after seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews.
Analysis: Robinson is likely done for the year, although he hasn't been added to the IR list just yet. Drop him in all leagues if you still own him.
News: Houston Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson left the game Week 9 at Oakland on a cart late in the first quarter, injuring his right knee when a teammate hit him from behind. Robinson, a fourth-year pro from South Carolina, was hurt while attempting to strip the ball from Raiders receiver Ronald Curry after a catch near the first-down marker in Houston territory. Earl Cochran, Robinson's 281-pound teammate, came barreling into Robinson from behind in an attempt to make the tackle, bending Robinson awkwardly and leaving him motionless on the ground after the pileup. Robinson spent a few minutes on the turf before rising and gingerly moving to a cart, which took him to the locker room. He was seated upright, and acknowledged cheers from Oakland's fans with a wave of his hand.
Analysis: Robinson, who did not return, had 33 tackles and two interceptions entering the game, earning praise for his tough tackling and steady play. He has been the strongest player in Houston's secondary, with opponents targeting fellow cornerback DeMarcus Faggins for most of their big throws. Robinson has been a solid NFL defensive back since coming into the league in 2004. He always seems to be around 70 tackles a season and pick off a few passes as well. However, it appears as though he will fail to reach that feat this season. Robinson was told after the game he'll miss the rest of the season after seriously injuring his right knee. Continue to follow the news out of Houston, but it appears as though Robinson will no longer be of Fantasy help this season.
News: Texans DB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 7 vs. Tennessee. Robinson took limited practice reps all week. Robinson has 22 tackles and two interceptions in six games.
Analysis: Robinson has been a solid NFL defensive back since coming into the league in 2004. He always seems to be around 70 tackles a season and pick off a few passes as well. Treat him as a low-end Fantasy DB when healthy. He is expected to start Sunday.
News: Texans DB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) went through a second straight practice of limited reps as the team prepares for Week 7 vs. Tennessee.
Continue to monitor his progress.
News: DB Von Hutchins (seven tackles), LB Morlon Greenwood (five tackles), DB Demarcus Faggins (five tackles), DB Dunta Robinson (four tackles), Amobi Okoye (four tackles) and Mario Williams (three tackles, sack) all made contributions in Houston's 22-19 win over Miami in Week 5.
Analysis: Williams is a decent start in all IDP leagues, while Robinson and Okoye are solid reserves. The others should not be used Week 6 when Houston plays at Jacksonville.
News: Texans DB Dunta Robinson had four tackles and an interception Sunday against Carolina.
Analysis: Robinson should be considered a low-end DB in Week 3 against the Colts.
News: Texans DB Dunta Robinson had two tackles and an interception in Week 1 vs. Kansas City.
Analysis: Consider Robinson a No. 3 DB in IDP formats heading into Week 2 at Carolina.
News: The Texans defense did not have a good day in Week 11 against the Bills giving up 24 points and 403 total yards. Bills WR Lee Evans had two touchdown receptions of 83 yards in the game. LB Shantee Orr and DB Demarcus Faggins had sacks, while DB Dunta Robinson had an interception.
Analysis: The Texans DST is still not a recommended Fantasy option. Ignore them for Week 12 at N.Y. Jets. Robinson is the only player worth using in IDP leagues as a low-end option.
News: The Texans gave up four touchdowns in a 34-6 loss against Dallas. They only sacked Cowbous QB Drew Bledsoe twice with DB C.C. Brown and LB Demarco Ryans. Brown led the Texans with 10 tackles, and Ryans was second with nine. DB Dunta Robinson had five tackles. And DL Mario Williams had six tackles.
Analysis: Keep the Texans DST reserved in Week 7 along with all these players.
News: The Redskins had their way with the Texans defense in Week 3 rolling up 495 yards and 31 points. The Texans D had no sacks, no interceptions and forced only one fumble. A bright spot did come from the play of DB Dunta Robinson who led the team with 11 tackles, all solo. Rookie LB DeMeco Ryans and DB Lewis Sanders also had nice days racking up 10 total tackles a piece.
Analysis: New week, same old story: the Texans defense is horrendous. Continue to stay away from the Texans DST. It doesn't look like anytime soon they are going to improve. Now as far as IDP players are concerned, it is time to turn your attention to Robinson, Ryans and Lewis. All three players have more than 30 tackles on the season, but are liabilities in other statistical catergories. However, if your league rewards heavily for tackles, then these guys are going to get plenty of them as the season moves on.
News: Texans CB Dunta Robinson's stats fell in 2005 as he finished with 68 solo tackles, one INT, one sack, a fumble recovery and three pass deflections. A stud cornerback should do better in all stats except tackles.
Analysis: Robinson fell to a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy DB in 2005, and will probably stay there throughout the offseason and into 2006.
News: Dunta Robinson recorded seven tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 30-19 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Analysis: Robinson remains a nice IDP option in larger leagues for Week 16 against Jacksonville.
News: CB Dunta Robinson had seven total tackles at Baltimore in Week 13.
Analysis: The star-quality corner should remain reserved in IDP leagues, but could be one of the better corners in the NFL in 2006.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports CB Dunta Robinson (ankle) practiced on Sept. 9 with no limitations and is expected to play in the season opener vs. the Bills. Robinson is listed as probable for the game.
Analysis: Robinson should start in IDP leagues, especially as he faces J.P. Losman.
News: The Houston Chroncile reports that Robinson signed a six-year deal worth $10.7 million on Saturday. Robinson will start at right cornerback for the Falcons opposite Aaron Glenn. Last season's starter, Marcus Coleman, has moved to free safety.
Analysis: Robinson will likely get picked on during his rookie season, which makes him a more valuable Fantasy player in individual defender leagues because he will receive more opportunities for tackles and interceptions. Consider using him as a No. 4 defensive back.
News: According to the Texans official website, the team has agreed to terms with Dunta Robinson on a six-year deal.
Analysis: Robinson has great upside, but he warrants little attention in individual defender leagues as a rookie.
