| News: The Giants announced the following cuts Saturday: QB Anthony Wright, QB Andre Woodson, FB Robert Douglas, WR Marcus Monk, WR Brandon London, TE Eric Butler, TE Jerome Collins, DE Wallace Gilberry, DE Alex Morrow, DT Jeremy Clark, DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo, LB Tank Daniels, LB James Terry, CB Geoffrey Pope, S Stuart Schweigert, CB Darren Barnett, K Josh Huston. | Analysis: Most of these players were not expected to see much playing time anyway. They could end up back on the Giants' practice squad if they clear waivers, but should not be owned in Fantasy at this time. |

Schweigert latches on with G-Men
|
Updated 8/10/2008 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB WAS | |
| News: The New York Giants waived defensive end Robert Henderson, their sixth-round pick, and safety Nehemiah Warrick on Sunday and replaced them by signing Antonio Reynolds and Stuart Schweigert. | Analysis: Schweigert, a third-round pick by Oakland in 2004, played 63 games with 42 starts in four seasons with the Raiders. Last year, he had 69 tackles and two interceptions in 15 games but was released in May. The Washington Redskins signed him in June, then released him Tuesday. Schweigert has a chance to stick with the Giants and even play a key role since they need some depth at safety. However, it's still safe to ignore Schweigert in Fantasy until further notice. |

| Stuart Schweigert, DB WAS | |
| News: The Redskins cut S Stuart Schweigert and LB Danny Verdun-Wheeler and signed S Patrick Ghee and TE Pete Schmitt on Monday. | Analysis: Former Oakland starter Schweigert was one of the team's most notable offseason acquisitions, but he failed to contend for a starting job. It wasn't long ago that Schweigert was a valuable Fantasy addition. Now, he can't even find a job in the NFL. Ignore Schweigert in Fantasy until further notice. |
Redskins sign DB Schweigert
|
Updated 6/2/2008 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: The Redskins signed former Raiders FS Stuart Schweigert, cut after the club signed Gibril Wilson. He's expected to compete for a starting gig in training camp this summer. | Analysis: Schweigert is a nice fit for the Redskins. He's not bad as a reserve Fantasy DB worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues. Consider him in those formats. |
Raiders cut DB Schweigert
|
Updated 5/21/2008 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: The Raiders released safety Stuart Schweigert on Tuesday, cutting ties with a former starter who lost his job late last season. Schweigert, a third-round pick out of Purdue in 2004, became the starter at free safety midway through his second season in Oakland and started 37 consecutive games before being replaced last season. Schweigert struggled at times last season as a run-stopper and the Raiders set out to improve their tackling at safety this offseason by signing Gibril Wilson from the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. | Analysis: Schweigert had 215 tackles and four interceptions in 63 games with the Raiders. He also had 20 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He shouldn't be out of work long, making him a possible late-round choice in deeper IDP drafts this summer. |
Raiders release Schweigert
|
Updated 5/21/2008 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: The Raiders have released free safety Stuart Schweigert, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. A third-round pick in the 2004 draft, Schweigert started 37 straight games, and 38-of-42, from 2005 through midseason last year. Schweigert's run ended after hurting his hip in the Nov. 18 game against the Vikings. He missed only one game but did not regain his starting job from Hiram Eugene. His job prospects took another blow this offseason when the Raiders signed Giants strong safety Gibril Wilson and moved Michael Huff to free safety. Schweigert had been expected to compete for a roster spot as a backup safety and special-teams player. | Analysis: Schweigert had 69 tackles and two interceptions last season but often was criticized for missed tackles against the run. He finished with 315 tackles and four interceptions in four seasons, after the Raiders selected him out of Purdue. Look for him to land somewhere else, but he has minimal Fantasy value at this time heading into 2008. |
Schweigert gets two interceptions
|
Updated 2/14/2008 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: Raiders DB Stuart Schweigert appeared in 15 games in 2007 and finished with 69 tackles (56 solo) and two interceptions. Schweigert set a career-high last year with 107 tackles, so his tackle total declined in 2007. | Analysis: Go into 2008 with Schweigert as a low-end No. 3 DB in IDP leagues. If he's getting over 100 tackles than he's a useful Fantasy option. Otherwise he's nothing more than a stopgap in deeper leagues. |

| News: Raiders DB Stuart Schweigert had two tackles and an interception Sunday at Green Bay. | Analysis: Despite the interception, Schweigert should not be used in Week 15 against the Colts. |
Schweigert ready to return
|
Updated 11/28/2007 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: Raiders DB Stuart Schweigert (calf) is listed as probable for Week 13 vs. Denver. He went through full practices all week. Schweigert missed his first game this season Week 12 against the Chiefs. | Analysis: Schweigert came off a career year in 2006, but has failed to be as productive in the first half of 2007. He is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DB at this time. It appears as though he will be back Week 13. |
Raiders-Chiefs inactives named
|
Updated 11/25/2007 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: Notable Week 12 inactives from the Raiders-Chiefs game include: Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell (No. 3/emergency QB), DB Stuart Schweigert, QB Andrew Walter, DB John Bowie, LB Isaiah Ekejiuba and DL Josh Shaw. For the Chiefs, RB Larry Johnson, LB Kendrell Bell, QB Tyler Thigpen (No. 3/emergency QB), WR Eddie Drummond, DB Rashad Barksdale and DL James Reed are inactive. | Analysis: JaMarcus Russell will be the Raiders' No. 3/emergency QB, which suggests that he won't play this week. For the Chiefs, Kolby Smith will start at running back, and RB/FB Gilbert Harris was promoted from the practice squad to back him up while Larry Johnson rests his injured foot. Thigpen is the No. 3/emergency QB for the Chiefs. Everyone else listed above doesn't post enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy Football. |
Schweigert hit with calf injury
|
Updated 11/23/2007 |
| Stuart Schweigert, DB OAK | |
| News: Raiders DB Stuart Schweigert (calf) is listed as questionable for Week 12 at Kansas City. He did not practice Friday after doing so the previous two days. He has 58 tackles and one interception in 10 games. | Analysis: Schweigert came off a career year in 2006, but has failed to be as productive in the first half of 2007. He is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DB at this time. It appears as though the injury flared up after Thursday's practice and his status is now in doubt for Week 12. Consider using healthier alternatives. |
