Godfrey makes five stops for Panthers

News: Carolina safety Charles Godfrey recorded five tackles for the second game in a row Week 10 in a loss to Denver. Godfrey made four solo tackles in the loss but had no other discernible statistics in the game.
Analysis: Godfrey has yet to pick up a sack and has only one interception on the season for the Panthers. With 51 tackles to back that up, that makes Godfrey only a low-end option for very deep Fantasy IDP formats going forward.

Godfrey has five tackles

News: Panthers defensive back Charles Godfrey had five tackles Sunday against Dallas in Week 7, including four solo.
Analysis: Godfrey now has 34 tackles on the season with 22 solo. He only has one interception, and he has minimal Fantasy value. He should not be used in most IDP leagues in Week 8 at Chicago.

Godfrey racking up tackles

News: Panthers defensive back Charles Godfrey posted his third solid game in a row Thursday, as he finished with six tackles in a 36-7 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Godfrey now has 23 tackles on the season, which puts him on pace for a career year. He added his first interception last week, so Fantasy owners should consider him a viable low-end IDP option.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey finds end zone

News: Panthers defensive back Charles Godfrey enjoyed the best game of his career against the Saints in Week 2. Godfrey picked off Drew Brees and took it back nine yards for his first career touchdown in a 35-27 victory. He also registered a team-high 11 tackles (six solo) and deflected another on of Drew Brees' passes.
Analysis: Godfrey is looking to build off another season of at least 60-plus tackles. He is still four interceptions away from matching his career high mark set in 2010. Godfrey has eight interceptions in his last three seasons. He is considered as a low-end IDP Fantasy option heading into Week 3 against the Giants.

Godfrey unable to go Saturday

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was listed among the inactives for Week 16 against the Buccaneers. He re-injured his shoulder a week ago and had to be removed from the game.
Analysis: Godfrey is six tackles shy of matching his career mark but he will have to wait until Week 17 to reach that feat. His tackling makes him a worthy No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues when healthy, so keep an eye on his status going forward.

Godfrey unlikely to play vs. Bucs

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey missed practice for the third straight day on Friday and is listed as doubtful for Week 16 against the Buccaneers. He re-injured his shoulder a week ago and had to be removed from the game.
Analysis: Godfrey is six tackles shy of matching his career mark but it looks as though he will have to wait until Week 17 to reach that feat. His tackling makes him a worthy No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues when healthy, so keep an eye on his status going forward.

Godfrey hurt, leaves game

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey injured his shoulder in the third quarter Week 15 at Houston and didn't return. He had two tackles, including one solo, before leaving.
Analysis: Godfrey had a shoulder issue during the week leading up to the game. This may not only impact him for Week 15, but also for Week 16. His tackling makes him a worthy No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues when healthy, so keep an eye on his situation.

Godfrey active for Houston game

News: The Panthers made DB Charles Godfrey (shoulder) active for their Week 15 game at Houston. Godfrey was limited in practice on Friday after missing the previous two days.
Analysis: Godfrey is having a nice season, and now that he is healthy enough to play, he is someone to consider in deeper IDP leagues for Week 15.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey tabbed questionable

News: Carolina DB Charles Godfrey is labeled as questionable for Week 15 at Houston because of a shoulder issue. Godfrey was limited in practice on Friday after missing the previous two days.
Analysis: Godfrey has an outside shot at topping 100 tackles for the first time in his career as he currently stands at 76 stops. However, he could be sidelined on Sunday. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end option in IDP formats if he's healthy enough to play.

Godfrey ready to go Week 14

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey is active for Week 14 against the Falcons. He was listed as probable on Friday because of a shoulder issue.
Analysis: Godfrey has only two interceptions this season, but with 73 tackles, he has an outside shot at 100 for the season, which is especially rare for a DB. Give him a look as a No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey probable for Sunday

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was listed as probable for Week 14 versus the Falcons. He's been dealing with a shoulder injury.
Analysis: As long as Godfrey is active on Sunday, Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should consider him a low-end DB option. He has 73 tackles on the season.

Godfrey leads with 11 stops

News: Carolina DB Charles Godfrey led the Panthers in tackles in the Week 13 win at Tampa Bay. Godfrey finished the game with a game-high 11 tackles and nine of them were of the solo variety.
Analysis: The 26-year-old Godfrey recorded double-digit tackles for the first time since Oct. 30 against Minnesota and just the second time this season. Godfrey has one sack and two interceptions to his credit on the season. With 73 tackles on the season, Godfrey is a mid-range Fantasy option in IDP formats.

Godfrey collects first sack

News: Carolina DB Charles Godfrey posted six tackles and a sack during the Panthers' 27-19 win over Indianapolis in Week 12. Godfrey recorded his first sack of the season with his takedown of Colts QB Curtis Painter in the first quarter. The play also forced a fumble.
Analysis: As a safety, Godfrey isn't particularly known for reaching the quarterback often as his sack on Sunday marked his first since his rookie season in 2008. He does have two interceptions this season and has recently increased his tackle totals. Consider him a low-end option in Fantasy IDP formats.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey leads team in tackles

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey had a team-leading nine tackles in a Week 8 loss to the Vikings. He now has 41 on the season.
Analysis: It was a good week for Godfrey, but he does not produce on a consistent basis. He is still a low-end DB option for owners in IDP leagues.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey nets nine solo tackles

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey totaled nine solo tackles and two pass defenses in Week 5 against the Saints. He came into the game with 14 tackles in three games.
Analysis: Godfrey had his best performance of the season Week 5 because he was given the task of shadowing TE Jimmy Graham, who was QB Drew Brees' favorite target. Godfrey proved last year that he could make plays, but consider him more of a low-end Fantasy DB until he starts having more performances like Week 5 on a regular basis.

Godfrey picks off first pass of 2011

News: Carolina DB Charles Godfrey had a solid game in the Week 4 loss at Chicago. Godfrey recorded an interception of Jay Cutler in the game. Godfrey added five tackles and four solo for the Panthers in the loss.
Analysis: Godfrey picked up his first interception of the season on Sunday of Week 4 and now has 14 total tackles in three games. Godfrey had a career year in 2010 with 84 tackles and five interceptions, but hasn't begun 2011 the same way. He's limited in Fantasy IDP leagues heading into Week 5 against the Saints.

Godfrey active for Week 4

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was active for the Week 4 game against the Bears. Godfrey was listed as probable coming into the game after having not played since suffering a concussion in Week 2.
Analysis: Godfrey had a career year in 2010 with 84 tackles and five interceptions and has nine tackles in two games this season. Now that he's healthy, he should be considered a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey probable for Week 4

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was listed as probable for Week 4 against the Bears. He has not played since suffering a concussion in Week 2.
Analysis: Godfrey had a career year in 2010 with 84 tackles and five interceptions and has nine tackles in two games this season. When healthy, he should be considered a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats.

Godfrey's concussion keeps him out

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was inactive for Week 3 against the Jaguars because of a concussion he suffered in Week 2. Jordan Pugh is expected to start in his place.
Analysis: Godfrey had 84 tackles and five interceptions last year, emerging as a Fantasy-relevant DB. You wouldn't want to use him until he can get back and prove his health, though.

Godfrey not expected to play

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey isn't expected to play Week 3 against the Jaguars due to a concussion. He hasn't practiced all week, but is still undergoing tests and will be seen by an independent physician. Jordan Pugh would start in Godfrey's absence. "He's better, but he's probably not looking good for the weekend unless something miraculous happens," coach Ron Rivera said Friday.
Analysis: Godfrey is coming off his best season as a pro in 2010, totaling 84 tackles and five interceptions. He has no interceptions through two games, but he has nine tackles. He is a viable low-end Fantasy start when healthy, but plan on using healthier alternatives in Week 3.

Godfrey suffers head injury

News: Carolina DB Charles Godfrey suffered a head injury during the Week 2 loss against Green Bay. Godfrey was replaced by S Jordan Pugh late in the game after recorded five tackles for the Panthers. Godfrey was shaken up after delivering a shot to Packers TE Jermichael Finley. He looked a little woozy getting up as he headed to the sidelines and could not return.
Analysis: The 25-year-old Godfrey now has nine tackles on the season but has no sacks or interceptions just yet. He's a solid player for the Panthers, but not much of an option in Fantasy IDP leagues.

Charles Godfrey

Godfrey quiet in Week 1

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey was relatively quiet in Week 1 against the Cardinals. Godrey finished with four tackles in the 28-21 loss, three solo. He was not credited with any pass defended in the contest.
Analysis: Godfrey signed a big extension on Friday night that will keep him in Carolina for another five years. The 25-year-old racked up 84 tackles and five interceptions a year ago and should be one of the anchors in the Panthers' secondary. Despite his sub-par Week 1, Fantasy owners should continue to view Goddrey as a viable option in the majority of IDP leagues heading into Week 2.

Godfrey signs five-year extension

News: Panthers FS Charles Godfrey has agreed to a five-year extension, a league source has confirmed Friday, though terms of the deal were not disclosed. Godfrey becomes the fifth defensive player this offseason to agree to at least a five-year deal, joining DE Charles Johnson, LBs James Anderson, Jon Beason and Thomas Davis.
Analysis: Godfrey was elected to be one of the team's six captains for the 2011 season, so the team rewarded him with a nice deal. He has clearly outplayed his rookie deal, and he capped it last season by notching 84 tackles to go along with five interceptions and a forced fumble. Godfrey also got his hands on eight pass deflections, so he remains a solid DB option in IDP Fantasy formats.

Godfrey gets back on track Week 16

News: After recording three tackles in each of his last two games, Panthers DB Charles Godfrey got back on track in Week 16 against the Steelers. He recorded five tackles and also had a pass defended in the 27-3 loss.
Analysis: Godfrey is having a career year, setting personal bests with 80 tackles, five interceptions and eight passes defended. Although he can be inconsistent at times, he remains a viable Fantasy DB in most IDP formats heading into Week 17 against the Falcons.

Godfrey has modest afternoon

News: Panthers DB Charles Godfrey didn't do much statistically against the Falcons in Week 14, finishing with three tackles, including one solo. The three tackles were his fewest since he had two in Week 8.
Analysis: Godfrey is a decent tackler for a defensive back and is no slouch on the interceptions either, contributing five this season. He's worth using as a No. 2 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues.
