News: A workout at Halas Hall of veteran free agents earlier this week led the Bears to sign three players to bolster the D-line. Defensive linemen John McCargo, Demario Pressley and Cheta Ozougwu all signed one-year deals. McCargo, a 6-2, 295-pounder played five seasons for Buffalo and one for Tampa Bay and has one career start. Pressley, a Saints' fifth-round pick in 2009, also played for Carolina one season. Ozougwu was a seventh-round pick by the Texans last year.
Analysis: These guys might destroy a buffet or collectively lift up a small car, but they're not expected to help you win Fantasy games.
News: Carolina signed DL DeMario Pressley from its practice squad on Friday after placing WR Legedu Naanee on injured reserve.
Analysis: Pressley was released by Denver prior to the start of the season and has been on the Panthers' practice squad all year. Fantasy owners should leave him untouched in all formats.
News: The Colts claimed DT DeMario Pressley off waivers from Houston Tuesday. Pressley will be entering his fourth NFL season. He originally was a fifth-round draft choice by New Orleans in 2008.
Analysis: He isn't expected to produce many stats in the first place. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: DT DeMario Pressley was one of five players cut by Houston on Friday, joining DB Eugene Wilson, WR Andre Davis, LB Darnell Bing and LB Isaiah Greenhouse.
Analysis: The Texans signed Pressley off New Orleans' practice squad last December, but did not play in a game last season. He should continue to be ignored in 2011 Fantasy drafts.
News: The Texans signed DL DeMario Pressley signed off the Saints practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Pressley was drafted by the Saints in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He played college football at North Carolina State and saw action in seven games last season for New Orleans. Continue to ignore him in IDP Fantasy play.
News: The Saints currently have seven practice squad members: G Brandon Carter, LB Harry Coleman, CB Reggie Jones, QB Sean Canfield, WR Montez Billings, FB Matt Clapp and DT DeMario Pressley.
Analysis: Pressley would need to come off the practice squad and join the 53-man roster before he has any value in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: New Orleans has listed the following players as inactive for Week 16 against Tampa Bay: WR Lance Moore, CB Randall Gay, CB Jabari Greer, S Usama Young, LB Scott Shanle, TE Jeremy Shockey and DT DeMario Pressley.
Analysis: When healthy, Shockey is a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option but you can't use him Week 16. The rest of the players listed above have no Fantasy value at this time.
News: The Saints have listed the following players as inactive for Week 12 on Monday night against the Patriots: WR Lance Moore, K Garrett Hartley, RB Kyle Eckel, LB Jonathan Casillas and DL DeMario Pressley.
Analysis: Moore has not played since Week 8 against Atlanta and will miss a fourth game in a row. There is no telling when he'll be back on the field. Hopefully it comes in Week 13 at Washington. The rest of the players listed below have no Fantasy value at this time and can be left on waivers in all leagues.
News: The New Orleans Saints have placed defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed defensive tackle DeMario Pressley from the practice squad to the active roster.
Analysis: Clancy, a 10th-year player in his third season with the Saints, played in two games and was inactive for five others because of the injury. Both he and Pressley have no Fantasy value at this time.
News: The Saints have added rookie quarterback Chase Daniel to the team's practice squad. The Saints also announced Sunday the team signed seven other players to the practice squad, including two 2008 draft choices - wide receiver Adrian Arrington and defensive tackle DeMario Pressley. The other players signed to the Saints' practice squad on Sunday include running back P.J. Hill, guard Tim Duckworth, wide receiver Matt Simon, cornerback Danny Gorrer and tackle Jermey Parnell.
Analysis: Daniel, an undrafted rookie from Missouri, signed with the Washington Redskins in April. But he but was waived Saturday during the Redskins' final preseason cuts. None of these players, including Daniel, have any Fantasy value.
News: Defensive tackle DeMario Pressley was placed on injured reserve by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, forcing the fifth-round draft pick to miss his rookie season. Head coach Sean Payton said Pressley, who practiced as recently as Saturday, was increasingly bothered by an old right foot fracture that had never healed properly. Pressley will have surgery to repair it, the coach said. "We tried to manage it a little bit and it was still becoming problematic," Payton said. "We think the injury is something that can heal with the proper procedure. We just chose to have it done right now rather than wait and try to treat it. It's just gotten progressively worse. ... It became apparent it was going to stay aggravated if he stayed on it."
Analysis: Pressley, who is 6-foot-3, 301-pounds, was the first of the team's two fifth-round selections, taken 144th overall out of North Carolina State. Placing Pressley on injured reserve opened a roster spot, which the Saints filled by signing free agent defensive end Marquies Gunn. Gunn spent parts of 2007 on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pressley was likely going to play a small role on defense in 2008 and his loss doesn't effect Fantasy all that much. The Saints DST is still a poor option and Pressley wasn't a viable IDP player.
News: The Saints have agreed to a three-year contract with rookie DE DeMario Pressley, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Pressley, a fifth-round pick out of North Carolina State, is the first of the Saints' six picks to agree to a deal. Pressley missed some of the Saints' offseason workouts because of a minor foot injury, but his agent said Pressley has been working out in Atlanta and will be ready to go for the start of training camp July 24.
Analysis: Pressley has minimal Fantasy value heading into 2008. Don't plan on drafting him in IDP leagues at this time.
News: The Saints drafted DB Tracy Porter from Indiana in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. They also drafted DL DeMario Pressley from North Carolina State in the fifth round, kicker Taylor Mehlhaff from Wisconsin in the sixth round and WR Adrian Arrington from Michigan in the seventh round.
Analysis: Porter has a chance to play right away with the Saints needed help at cornerback, which gives Porter decent Fantasy value in IDP leagues. Pressley should not be drafted in any formats, Mehlhaff will compete with Martin Gramatica for the starting kicker spot and Arrington should not be drafted in any Fantasy leagues.
