News: The Bucs have signed free agent safety Dashon Goldson to a five-year deal according to multiple reports. He's expected to start right away opposite Mark Barron in the Tampa Bay secondary.
Analysis: It's a nice signing for the Bucs, pairing their young safety with a solid veteran. Goldson is a good defensive back but not a great one for Fantasy purposes. His pass defense stats are typically solid but since a 94-tackle campaign in 2009 Goldson has seen his tackle totals drop. He's better in leagues that do not reward tackles than leagues that do.
News: Without the franchise tag being applied to him it appears Dashon Goldson is done with the 49ers. ESPN reported Monday he's not expected to return. The safety had 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble last season.

This is the second report this week that says Goldson will be able to test free agency. Goldson had 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble this season as San Francisco returned to the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 years last season.

News: Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reports Sunday that the 49ers are leaning toward not placing the franchise tag on safety Dashon Goldson. He had 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble this season as San Francisco returned to the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 years last season.
Analysis: The two-time Pro Bowler has played on one-year contracts the past two seasons, including the 2012 franchise tag of $6.2 million, and is searching for a long-term contract this offseason. Goldson has told reporters before that he is hopes to beback with the Niners again next season. We'll keep an eye to see where the 28-year-old may land. He projects as a low-end starting option in IDP leagues even if he returns to the 49ers as expected. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh will make it a priority to re-sign franchise safety Dashon Goldson to a long-term contract this offseason - something the defender believes he has more than earned after helping his team reach the Super Bowl. "He's somebody that I think you reward," Harbaugh said Tuesday following his final team meeting of the season before players parted ways. "You know he's out there and opposing offenses know that he's out there. He tackles and does everything that you'd want a safety to do. I feel like you reward those type of people. Who do you reward if you don't reward those type of people?" The 28-year-old Goldson has played on one-year contracts the past two seasons, including the 2012 franchise tag of $6.2 million, and made it clear he's "not for that" again. He had 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble this season as San Francisco returned to the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 years.
Analysis: Goldson projects as a low-end starting option in IDP leagues even if he returns to the 49ers as expected. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: 49ers safety Dashon Goldson told the San Jose Mercury-News he thinks he'll be back with the team in 2013. He's scheduled to be a free agent after the Super Bowl. "We haven't spoken anything about a contract, but I don't see why I wouldn't be around," Goldson said.
Analysis: Goldson delivered nice totals in passes defensed (11), interceptions (three) and even added a forced fumble in 2012, but his tackle totals were less than ideal (69) for the second year in a row. Until Goldson can become a force in the field again he's more of a reserve Fantasy defensive back.

Goldson, who appeared on the injury report Thursday, has been able to practice in full this week and was never in danger of missing Sunday's game.
Analysis: Goldson has turned it up and has recorded 46 tackles in his last nine games, after starting the season with just 18 tackles over his first five games. He has also collected a pair of interceptions over that nine-game stretch and is in the midst of yet another productive campaign in San Francisco. Analysis: Goldson also delivered a huge hit to Early Doucet in the fourth quarter, which had most of the crowd buzzing. The 28-year-old now leads the team in pass defended with six and he still ranks tops among his teammates with two interceptions. While Goldson can't be counted on as a steady source for tackles, his ability to make plays continues to give him value in most IDP formats. Leave him active in most formats heading into Week 10.
News: San Francisco defensive back Dashon Goldson only finished with three tackles but was able to come down with his second interception of the year against the Seahawks in Week 7. Goldson picked off Russell Wilson late in the fourth quarter to help secure a 13-6 victory.
Analysis: Goldson is not know as a solid source of tackles but was able to take advantage of Wilson's mistakes and picked up his first interception since Week 2. He is four interceptions away from matching his total of six picks last year. Fantasy owners should view the 27-year-old as a solid option in deeper IDP formats heading into Week 8 at Arizona.
News: San Francisco defensive back Dashon Goldson registered a season-high eight tackles during the 49ers' 26-3 loss to San Francisco in Week 6. Goldson was among three players who finished with eight tackles as each of them posted at least one stop for a loss.
Analysis: Goldson is not normally a huge source of tackles, but with New York spreading the ball around downfield, he was supplied more than five tackles for the second time this season. He has just one interception this season after picking off six passes last year, but remains a quality option in deeper Fantasy IDP formats.
News: San Francisco defensive back Dashon Goldson turned in a solid performance during Sunday's Week 5 contest against the Bills. Goldson recovered a Scott Chandler fumble late in the first half, which resulted in a San Francisco touchdown on the very next play. He registered three tackles, all of which were solo, in a 45-3 victory.
Analysis: Goldson has had a decent season thus far with an interception and a fumble recovery in his first five games. He is not considered a great source of tackles but is a threat to pick off opposing quarterbacks every week. He picked off six passes last season and is already five interceptions away from matching his career-high. Fantasy owners should consider him as a viable IDP option in most leagues heading into Week 5.
News: 49ers defensive back Dashon Goldson had three tackles Sunday at the Vikings in Week 3. He had two solo tackles. Goldson still has just one interception on the season.
Analysis: Goldson will look to find some interceptions against Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in Week 4, and Sanchez just had two interceptions in Week 3 at Miami. Goldson is worth starting in all IDP leagues in Week 4.
News: Coming off a season with a career-high six interceptions, 49ers defensive back Dashon Goldson recorded his first pick of the year in Week 2, as he made a nice diving play on a poorly thrown ball by Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. He added six tackles -- five solo -- as the 49ers won, 27-19.
Analysis: Goldson is a decent Fantasy IDP option overall because he can put up solid tackle numbers as a defensive back, but his value is greatest when he is making plays in the passing game. He posted all six of his interceptions last season in an eight-game span, so Fantasy owners might want to get him active in IDP formats, as picks can come in bunches.
News: There will be no holdout for Dashon Goldson. San Francisco's Pro Bowl safety signed his one-year franchise tender, the team announced Thursday. Goldson didn't participate in offseason workouts while seeking a long-term contract, but a deal never came to fruition before the July 16 deadline. He will make $6.2 million in 2012 and test free agency in 2013. "He believes the team has unfinished business from last year and he wanted to be with his teammates and not miss out on an opportunity to pick up where the team left off last year," his agent, Ben Dogra, told Comcast Sportsnet.
Analysis: The sixth-year pro is coming off the best season of his career. He started all 14 games he played in and registered a career-high six INTs. Goldson should be able to post solid numbers once again. Consider him a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP formats this fall.
News: The 49ers and safety Dashon Goldson did not agree to terms on a new contract before the deadline for franchise players passed. That means Goldson will play on a one-year deal guaranteed at $6.2 million for 2012. "If I have to play for the tag, I'll play for the tag," Goldson told SiriusXM NFL Radio recently. "But any guy would love long-term security. ... If not, I'll still be a 49er."
Analysis: Goldson saw action in 14 regular season games for the 49ers, collecting 67 tackles and six interceptions along the way. Goldshon should be able to post solid numbers once again. Consider him a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP formats this fall.
News: The 49ers officially placed the franchise tag on safety Dashon Goldson. When he signs he'll be guaranteed $6.2 million for 2012, unless of course he signs a long-term deal, which the Niners are hopeful for. Dashon has been a 49er since we selected him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. By using the franchise tag on Dashon, it affords us the opportunity to continue to work on a long-term contract with him, while also ensuring he will be a 49er for a sixth season, in 2012," Niners general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement.
Analysis: Goldson saw action in 14 regular season games for the 49ers, collecting 67 tackles and six interceptions along the way. If he remains in San Francisco Goldshon should be able to post solid numbers once again. Consider him a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 DB in Fantasy IDP formats this fall.

Analysis: Goldson topped double figures in tackles only once during the regular season before turning in a strong performance against the Saints. He also ranked fourth in the NFL with six interceptions during the regular season and should be viewed as a viable option in Fantasy IDP formats.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson registered his sixth interception of the season in Week 15 against the Steelers. Goldson also finished with seven tackles -- seven solo -- in the 20-3 victory and was also credited with a pas defended.
Analysis: Goldson has now recorded an interception in each of his last two contests and already has set a new career high with seven. The 27-year-old is also looking at his third straight season with at least 60-plus tackles and has been one of the leaders in the 49ers' secondary. Consider him a low-end Fantasy DB heading into Week 16 against Seattle.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson left in Week 14 against the Cardinals with a hip injury. Goldson suffered a hip injury trying to break up WR Larry Fitzgerald's 46-yard TD catch in the third quarter. He did not return to the contest. Goldson finished with three tackles and an interception prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Goldson has set a new career high with interceptions, but now has a hip injury to deal with. Fantasy owners should continue and monitor his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the field. Goldson can be considered a low-end Fantasy DB heading into Week 15 against the Steelers.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson had another solid performance in Week 13 against the Rams. He recorded three tackles, including one for a loss, and also picked off QB A.J. Feeley in the 26-0 win. It was his fourth interception of the year.
Analysis: Goldson is one interception away from setting a new career mark and continues to rack up the tackles in San Francisco. He now has 51 tackles on the year. Continue to view Goldson as a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats going forward.
News: It was a story of both good and bad outcomes for 49ers DB Dashon Goldson in Week 11, as he picked off his third pass of the season midway through the third quarter, a John Skelton pass intended for Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald in the red zone. In the fourth quarter, however, Goldson was involved in an altercation with Cardinals WR Early Doucet that ended with Goldson being ejected from the game after throwing three punches at Doucet.
Analysis: Goldson has three interceptions in his last four games and has really come on strong in recent weeks. With the nature of his ejection, however, he may be looking at a suspension being handed down from the league. Goldson has been emerging as a viable Fantasy DB in IDP formats, but keep an eye on his status going forward, in case he does face a suspension.
News: San Francisco DB Dashon Goldson recorded an interception on Sunday in Washington during the Week 9 win. Goldson picked off a John Beck pass in the game and added five total tackles. Goldson also picked up a big hit on Beck in the game.

Analysis: Goldson has been playing well for the 49ers this season and now has 34 tackles to go along with a pick and a forced fumble. Analysis: Goldson missed the first two games due to injury, but now he has 10 tackles in his first two games back and is absolutely thriving in his first year under coordinator Vic Fangio. Consider Goldson a viable Fantasy DB if he keeps producing like this.

News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson has re-signed with the 49ers, the team announced on Monday. Goldson finished last season with 80 tackles, one sack and one interception returned for a touchdown.
Analysis: Despite the solid year, his career high was 94 tackles set last season. Seeing how he didn't build off his breakout season, Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should view Goldson as a late round selection on Draft Day.
News: San Francisco DB Dashon Goldson would record a sack and three tackles in Week 17 against Arizona. He also got banged up after a tackle he made on WR Larry Fitzgerald. He would walk off the field under his own power though and continue to play. The 49ers would prevail over the Cardinals, 38-7.
Analysis: Goldson finished the year with 80 tackles, one sack and one interception returned for a touchdown. Despite a nice year, Goldson's career high was 94 tackles set last season. Seeing how he didn't build off his breakout season, Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should view Goldson as a late round selection on Draft Day.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson did not have his finest performance in Week 16 against the Rams. He recorded just three tackles in the 25-17 loss. Goldson has 77 tackles on the year.
Analysis: Goldson is having a down year and has recorded three or fewer tackles in a game four times this season. He does not produce much in the form of interceptions and passes defended and should continue to be viewed as a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats heading into Week 17 against the Cardinals.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson totaled eight tackles (five solo) in Week 15 against the Chargers. He has five or more tackles in his first three December games and 20 tackles this month. He also has an interception return for a touchdown in December.
Analysis: Goldson's numbers aren't as impressive in 2010 as they were during his breakout season of 2009. He remains a low-end Fantasy DB despite playing well in December.
News: San Francisco defensive back Dashon Goldson made a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown on the third play of the second half during the Week 14 blowout win over Seattle. Goldson finished the game with five tackles for the 49ers.
Analysis: Goldson's first career interception returned for a touchdown was one of four Matt Hasselbeck interceptions in the game. It was also Goldson's first interception of any kind on the season. He's normally a decent tackler for a defensive back, but Goldson really only has low-end Fantasy value in IDP leagues.
News: San Francisco DB Dashon Goldson hardly made an impact in Week 12 against Arizona. He was not able to practice last week as he's been dealing with an ankle injury. Goldson recorded just one tackle in the 49ers 27-6 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The 49ers defense were only on the field for 21 minutes on Monday, so there wasn't that many chances for Goldson to make some plays. His ankle could have been a factor as well, so Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should wait to see if he lands on the injury report again. He has 54 tackles on the year and is nothing more than low-end DB option.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson has been ruled active for Week 12 against the Cardinals. Goldson was not able to practice this week because of an ankle injury.
Analysis: Goldson has had an up and down year for the 49ers and apparently will try to play on Monday night. He has 53 tackles on the season and has just low-end Fantasy appeal, when healthy.
News: Even though 49ers S Dashon Goldson (ankle) hasn't practiced at all this week, both defensive coordinator Greg Manusky and Goldson himself expressed full confidence that he'll play on Monday night at Arizona. "He'll be ready to go," Manusky said.
Analysis: When healthy, Goldson is just a low-end DB option, so chances are you'll be able to find an alternative player who can put up similar numbers. Goldson has had an up and down year thus far.
News: San Francisco DB Dashon Goldson recorded seven tackles -- five solo -- in Week 11 against Tampa Bay. He did sustain a leg contusion and an ankle sprain and is being considered day to day.
Analysis: Goldson has had an up and down year for the 49ers. It's not known how severe his injuries are, so his status for Week 12 against Arizona is not known. Fantasy owners in IDP leagues should monitor him through the week to see if he'll be worth starting. When healthy, Goldson is just a low-end DB option, so chances are you'll be able to find an alternative player.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson did not have his finest performance in Week 10 against the Rams. He recorded just one solo tackle and assisted on two more, finishing with three, in the 23-20 overtime win.
Analysis: Goldson has had some productive games so far this season but there are time where he cannot be found. He has recorded three tackles or fewer in three games and teams are trying to shy away from the 26-year-old of late. His 45 tackles and four passes defended on the year are nice but continue to view Goldson as a low-end Fantasy DB in IDP formats heading into Week 11 against the Buccaneers.
News: 49ers coach Mike Singletary said that the main reason that S Dashon Goldson hasnt been able to make any plays is that teams have been testing rookie S Taylor Mays. Its just like with corners, he said. Youve got one good one, you go at the other one.
Analysis: Goldson has managed just one tackle in two of his last three games. At least we now have a reason why his stats have plummeted. He could face this same treatment the rest of the season if Mays doesn't step up, so Goldson becomes bit of a risky start in Fantasy until further notice.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson had one solo tackle in Week 8 against the Broncos. It was the second time in three games he had just one tackle.
Analysis: Goldson has had a few bad games as of late, but he is not in jeopardy of losing his starting job. Even the best players have down games. It's just that Goldson has no sacks or interceptions, so his Fantasy value isn't as strong as it was last season. Consider him more of a No. 3 Fantasy DB until he gets on a roll.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson totaled seven solo tackles in Week 7 against the Panthers. It was the third time in four games Goldson has seven or more tackles.
Analysis: Goldson is doing his job as far as tackling, but it's unfortunate to see him with no sacks or interceptions at this stage of the season. He can do much more than just stop the run. He is good in pass coverage and can also rush the passer. Consider Goldson more of a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy DB.
News: Niners DB Dashon Goldson now has 32 tackles on the season after notching seven more in the Week 5 loss to the Eagles. Five of the tackles were solo and he also had two pass breakups on the night.
Analysis: Goldson is a pretty good tackler for a defensive back, and unlike most linebackers, he'll record the occasional interception. He's worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy DB.

News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson made four tackles in a Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Goldson now has 16 tackles in three games this season, but is still seeking his first interception. Goldson will head into Week 4 at Atlanta as just a low-end IDP Fantasy option.
News: San Francisco defensive back Dashon Goldson picked up five tackles on Monday night against the Saints in Week 2. The 49ers lost the game as Goldson had three solo tackles and two assisted.
Analysis: Goldson now has 12 tackles in two games this season. Goldson managed four interceptions last season for the 49ers but has yet to get his first this year. The 49ers play at Kansas City in Week 3 and we like Goldson as a decent Fantasy IDP option as a defensive back.
News: 49ers S Dashon Goldson had six tackles in Week 1 against the Seahawks. Goldson had five solo tackles and one assisted finishing second on the team behind Patrick Willis.
Analysis: Goldston was fairly quiet on Sunday. He didn't have any pass defended, but did add a tackle on special teams. The former Washington standout is coming off a career year, recording 94 tackles with four interceptions. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy DB heading into against the Saints.
News: 49ers fourth-year safety Dashon Goldson is excited about the team's outlook for 2010. "Keep your eye on us," he told The Los Angeles Times. "This is going to be a breakout year for the Niners."
Analysis: Goldson already had his breakout season in 2009, recording a career-high 94 tackles, two sacks and four interceptions. The former Washington standout went from undrafted Fantasy option to regular contributor. He should once again pair with Michael Lewis to make a formidable duo at safety for the 49ers. Goldson is no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy DB.
News: The 49ers defense created six turnovers on Sunday in a Week 16 win over the Lions. Detroit QB Drew Stanton was picked off three times by the Niners. Patrick Willis, Dre Bly and Dashon Goldson accounted for the three interceptions. Bly, Takeo Spikes and Mark Roman all recovered fumbles in the game as well. Ahmad Brooks forced two fumbles in the game and Bly forced one. Willis was also the teams leading tackler with nine.
Analysis: The Niners defense should have a field day again in Week 17 as they take on the Rams, a team they shut out back in Week 4. Think of Willis and Goldson as solid Fantasy options in IDP formats while the rest of these layers have little to no Fantasy value.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson had a nice game on Monday night against Arizona in Week 14. Goldson picked up six tackles and an interception of Kurt Warner. He also forced two fumbles in the game.
Analysis: Goldson now has 84 tackles, two sacks and three picks on the season with two forced fumbles. He's been a solid Fantasy option in all IDP leagues and can continue to see use in Week 15 at Philadelphia.
News: Niners DB Dashon Goldson recorded just his second sack of the season Week 13 at Seattle. He also had five solo tackles.
Analysis: Goldson is an above-average tackler for a defensive back, but you shouldn't count on him for any more sacks. He's a No. 2 or 3 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: San Francisco DB Dashon Goldson had his sore right hand dipped in paraffin wax and placed in a plastic bag to keep it warm. "Like a nail salon," he said with a grin.
Analysis: Goldson is a solid DB in IDP formats and can be activated in all leagues for Week 13 against the Seahawks.
News: The San Francisco defense had a solid performance on Sunday in a Week 12 win over the Jaguars, beating Jacksonville 20-3. Standout linebacker Patrick Willis led the way, making 11 tackles and recording half a sack. Dashon Goldson was the second-leading tackler with nine tackles. Ray McDonald and Justin Smith both recovered fumbles in the game. Smith also had 1 1/2 sacks and a forced fumble. Takeo Spikes had six tackles and a sack. Parys Haralson finished the game with four tackles and 1 ½ sacks. Manny Lawson had a forced fumble and two tackles in the game.
Analysis: Willis is an elite defensive talent and one of the best options in all IDP formats. Goldson and Smith are also decent plays in IDP leagues. The rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value. The Niners are at Seattle Week 13.
News: 49ers DB Michael Lewis (11 tackles), DB Dashon Goldson (nine tackles), DB Tarell Brown (nine tackles), DB Shawntae Spencer (eight tackles), LB Patrick Willis (eight tackles), LB Manny Lawson (five tackles, sack) and LB Parys Haralson (four tackles, sack) all produced nice stats in a Week 11 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Willis is an elite Fantasy LB in IDP formats and should be started in all leagues for Week 12 vs. Jacksonville. Goldson has plenty of value in deeper IDP formats, while Lewis has some minimal value. The others can all continue to be ignored.
News: The following 49ers defenders were helpful contributors in Week 10 vs. Chicago: DB Mark Roman (six solo tackles, interception); DB Dashon Goldson (five solo tackles, interception); LB Patrick Willis (11 total tackles); DT Aubrayo Franklin (three total tackles, interception); DB Michael Lewis (four total tackles, interception); and CB Tarell Brown (solo tackle, interception).
Analysis: The Niners picked off Jay Cutler five times, which helped pad the stats of several defenders. But frankly, only Willis and Lewis are worth a look in Fantasy play. The 49ers play at the Packers in Week 11.
News: The 49ers got some strong defensive outings Sunday at the Colts. Dashon Goldson had 10 tackles. Shawntae Spencer had eight tackles. Patrick Willis had eight tackles. Michael Lewis had five tackles and a forced fumble. Takeo Spikes had eight tackles. Aubrayo Franklin had three tackles and a sack. Justin Smith had seven tackles.
Analysis: The 49ers have a great matchup in Week 9 against the Titans, and you should plan on using your regular IDP options against Tennessee, which has struggled on offense for the majority of the season.
News: Notable 49ers defenders from their Week 7 loss at Houston include: DB Dashon Goldson (nine total tackles, forced fumble), DE Justin Smith and LB Patrick Willis (10 total tackles each), LB Manny Lawson (five total tackles, sack) and LB Ahmad Brooks (two solo tackles, sack).
Analysis: Of these players, Willis and Smith are must-start options while Goldson and Lawson are low-end options to consider in deeper leagues. The 49ers defenders will be plenty busy in Week 8 at Indianapolis.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson totaled seven solo tackles and one sack during a Week 4 win against the Rams. It was his first sack of the season and career.
Analysis: Goldson had a scary moment early in Week 4 as he left the game after getting the wind knocked out of him. But he was able to return and have one of his best games. Goldson is well on his way to having a career season. Consider him a low-end Fantasy DB.
News: Niners DB Dashon Goldon intercepted a pass for the first time in his career Week 2 against the Seahawks. He also recorded three solo tackles.
Analysis: Goldson isn't a big playmaker, so you shouldn't expect many more interceptions. Leave him on waivers.
News: The San Francisco 49ers have announced the inactives for their Week 15 game at Miami. Not in uniform will be: QB Jamie Martin (third QB), DB Allen Rossum (ankle), RB Frank Gore (ankle), DB Reggie Smith (coach's decision), DB Dashon Goldson (knee) and LB Roderick Green (coach's decision).
Analysis: Gore wasn't expected to play and he was declared active a couple of hours before kickoff. None of these other players have anything more than minimal Fantasy value.
News: The Niners listed QB Jamie Martin, DB Allen Rossum, DB Nate Clements, DB Dashon Goldson, LB Ahmad Brooks and WR Josh Morgan among their inactives for Week 14 against the Jets.
Analysis: These guys don't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when healthy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The 49ers have announced the inactives for their Week 13 game at Buffalo. Not in uniform will be: QB Jamie Martin (third QB), DB Allen Rossum (ankle), DB Reggie Smith (coach's decision), DB Dashon Goldson (knee), WR Arnaz Battle (foot) and WR Josh Morgan (groin).
Analysis: Battle is the only guy in this list with any Fantasy value, and his is very minimal. Continue to ignore all these guys for the foreseeable future.
News: Niners DB Dashon Goldson (knee) won't play Week 13 at Buffalo because of a knee injury. He hasn't played since Week 7.
Analysis: Even when healthy, Goldson doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers.
News: 49ers WR Josh Morgan (groin), WR Arnaz Battle (foot) and DB Dashon Goldson (knee) have all been ruled out for Week 12 at Dallas.
Analysis: Morgan had come on as of late and was gaining Fantasy momentum before this injury popped up. He and Battle are just low-end Fantasy WRs when healthy. Goldson has little to no value. Keep them reserved Week 12.
News: The 49ers listed QB Jamie Martin, DB Dashon Goldson, TE Delanie Walker, LB Ahmad Brooks and WR Arnaz Battle among their inactives for Week 11 against the Rams.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: 49ers WR Arnaz Battle (foot) and DB Dashon Goldson (knee) have been ruled out for Week 11 vs. St. Louis.
Analysis: Battle contributes on offense when healthy, but since he is so erratic with his performances, he has marginal Fantasy value when healthy. Goldson pretty much has no value. Keep these players reserved Week 11.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson, QB Jamie Martin, DB Reggie Smith, LB Ahmad Brooks, TE Sean Ryan and WR Arnaz Battle have all been ruled inactive for Week 10 at Arizona.
Analysis: Battle is the only player among the inactives that has some Fantasy value when he is on the field. Most of the these players are reserves for the 49ers and play a marginal role when active. Continue to keep them reserved Week 10 and likely in the coming weeks as well.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson (knee) is out for Week 10 at Arizona. It will be the second straight game he misses.
Analysis: Goldson is one of those players that is more important to his real team than Fantasy owners and can be ignored even when healthy.
News: The 49ers listed DB Dashon Goldston, QB Jamie Martin, DB Reggie Smith, LB Ahmad Brooks and DL Ray McDonald among their inactives for Week 8 against the Seahawks.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when healthy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Safety Dashon Goldson and defensive lineman Ray McDonald will all miss the 49ers' game against Seattle on Sunday. Goldson and McDonald both injured knees during last week's game against the Giants. McDonald was the 49ers' starting left defensive end, while Goldson has played extensively as a backup defensive back.
Analysis: McDonald is more valuable in Fantasy as a starter than Goldson, but he is still nothing more than a low-end option when healthy. Make sure to keep both of these players reserved Week 8.
News:The Sports Xchange reports that Dashon Goldson left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a right shoulder sprain. However, he is expected to be available for Week 4 game against the Saints.
Analysis: Goldson is the team's third safety, and he gets a lot of playing time in the 49ers' substitute packages. But that doesn't make him useful in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News:Dashon Goldson recorded an interception off Shaun Hill on the second day of camp. He appears to have a chance to unseat incumbent Mark Roman for the starting job, according to The Sports Xchange.
Analysis: As a starter, obviously Goldson's Fantasy appeal would be greater in IDP formats. But he isn't going to be a highly sought after Fantasy option in drafts. Keep tabs on him in the preseason and in the early part of the regular season to see if he's worth picking up.
News: 49ers WR LeRon McCoy, DB Tarell Brown, DB Dashon Goldson, DL Atiyyah Ellison, DL Aubrayo Franklin and WR Jason Hill are all inactive for Week 12 at Arizona.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves for the 49ers and have little to no Fantasy impact when active. Keep them reserved in Fantasy leagues for Week 12.
News: 49ers TE Vernon Davis (knee), CB Tarell Brown (hamstring), WR Jason Hill (knee), S Doshon Goldson, DT Atiyyah Ellison, DE Ray McDonald and third QB Shaun Hill were all named inactive for San Francisco's Week 4 game with the Seahawks.
Analysis: Davis was ruled out earlier this week, so hopefully you have already benched him. The rest of these players have no Fantasy value at this point.
News: Notable inactives for Week 3's Niners-Steelers game include: Niners QB Shaun Hill (No. 3/emergency QB), WR Jason Hill, DB Donald Strickland, DB Dashon Goldson, DL Atiyyah Ellison and DL Ray McDonald. For the Steelers, DB Ricardo Colclough, WR Willie Reid, RB Gary Russell, LB Andre Frazier, TE Matt Spaeth and QB Brian St. Pierre (No. 3/emergency QB) are inactive. In addition, the Niners will start either LB Hannibal Navies or Parys Haralson in place of LB Manny Lawson, who is out for the year.
Analysis: Spaeth's reps will be eaten up by Jerame Tuman. No one else inactive for this matchup is worth considering in standard Fantasy play.
News: The 49ers inactives for Week 2 against St. Louis are: QB Shaun Hill, DB Donald Strickland, DB Dashon Goldson, TE Billy Bajema, DL Atiyyah Ellison, WR Jason Hill and DL Ray McDonald.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value in Week 2 and should be reserved in all leagues.
News: Dashon Goldson (elbow) was among the inactives in Week 1 against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Goldson might be sidelined until at least Week 3. Keep him reserved in all IDP Fantasy leagues until he is healthy.
News: Dashon Goldson (elbow) missed Thursday's preseason finale at San Diego.
Analysis: Goldson is at least a year or two away from making an impact in Fantasy leagues which use IDPs.
News: 49ers DB Dashon Goldson (elbow) was inactive during Saturday's preseason game against the Bears.
Analysis: Goldson, a safety from Washington who was the third of three fourth-round picks by the 49ers this April, played in 33 games with the Huskies after transferring from Coffeyville (KS) Community College before the 2004 season. In three years at Washington, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound Goldson recorded 194 tackles, four interceptions, four fumble recoveries and 18 passes defended. Goldson is at least a year or two away from making an impact in Fantasy leagues which use IDPs.

News: The San Francisco 49ers signed fourth-round draft pick Dashon Goldson on Monday but have yet to come to terms with linebacker Patrick Willis, the 11th overall pick. Terms of Goldson's deal were not released. He is the fifth of San Francisco's nine draft picks to sign with the team, which opens training camp next Monday.

News: Aside from first-round pick LB Patrick Willis, the 49ers' 2007 draft class includes: Cent. Michigan OT Joe Staley, Washington State WR Jason Hill, Florida DE Ray McDonald, Nebraska DE Jay Moore, Washington FS Dashon Goldson, Florida DT Joe Cohen, Texas CB Tarell Brown and Kansas State RB Thomas Clayton.
Analysis: Staley should step into the starting lineup and be a very good lineman for Frank Gore, Alex Smith and the Niners. Hill is a decent-sized, physical runner who lacks that big explosion speed but should still be an effective target. He's worth a late-round flier in the deepest of seasonal leagues and an early- to middle-round pick in dynasty rookie drafts. McDonald and Moore are nice 3-4 defensive linemen who don't project out to being statistical machines. The rest of the players will provide team depth this season.
