News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller finished with just one catch for 9 yards in Week 16 against the 49ers. He was targeted three times in the 19-17 defeat.
Analysis: Miller has been relatively disappointing since coming over from the Raiders in the offseason and has yet to score a touchdown in his first season with Seattle. Unless he sees a serious increase in targets and production, owners should leave him on the bench for the foreseeable future.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller might not be in for his best performance in Week 16 against the 49ers. San Francisco ranks 22nd in the league in pass defense but has held opposing tight ends to an average of 5.3 Fantasy points, allowing just three touchdowns thus far. When the division foes met earlier in the year, Miller posted two grabs for 19 yards.
Analysis: Miller gained 23 yards on a season-high four catches his last time out as he continues to underwhelm in his first year with Seattle. He has yet to get on the same page with QB Tarvaris Jackson and with just two games left to go, it doesn't looks as though he will this season. Considering the matchup and his production thus far, plan on leaving Miller on the bench in the majority of Fantasy leagues for Week 16.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller, who has struggled to put up numbers in his first year since coming over from the Raiders, had a season-high four catches for 23 yards Week 15 at Chicago. He was targeted five times on the day -- second-most on the team.
Analysis: Miller had a season-high 53 receiving yards Week 13 against the Eagles, so maybe he's beginning to come around. Or maybe he's just not going to be much of a factor in this run-first offense. Clearly, you have no reason to bother with Miller in Fantasy until he begins to put up bigger numbers, so you can leave him on the waiver wire.
News: After posting a season-high 53 yards receiving his last time out, Seahawks TE Zach Miller was held quiet in Week 14 against the Rams. He caught just two passes for 13 yards in the 30-13 win. He was targeted three times by QB Tarvaris Jackson.
Analysis: Miller has been relatively disappointing since coming over from the Raiders in the offseason and has yet to score a touchdown in his first season with Seattle. He has just 20 catches for 201 yards thus far and it doesn't look as though his role is going to improve down the stretch. Continue to view Miller as more of a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 15 against the Bears.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller was targeted twice on Thursday night versus Philadelphia, but he made both those looks count. He caught both passes totaling 53 yards, which is a season high for the tight end. His second catch came with seconds left in the game as Tarvaris Jackson almost hit him for a touchdown. The Seahawks were up 31-14 at that point, but coach Pete Carroll was apparently going for the dagger. Miller was marked down at the 1-yard line and Jackson took a knee on the next play ending the game.
Analysis: Miller was relatively quiet in Week 13, but somehow he led his team in receiving yards. Despite that stat, he still hasn't topped three catches in a game all season. He's still searching for his first touchdown of the year and will try to find the end zone in Week 14 when the Seahawks face the Rams on Monday night. St. Louis has given up 16 passing touchdowns and has allowed 205 passing yards per contest. Fantasy owners should not start Miller at this stage of the season, despite his best outing to date.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller had a huge game the last time he squared off against the Philadelphia Eagles. Playing the Eagles back in 2009, Miller caught six passes for 139 yards and a touchdown against them. Heading into Thursday night's Week 13 showdown, those figures would certainly equal some season highs.
Analysis: Miller had six catches, scored a touchdown and topped 100 yards the last time he played against the Eagles in 2009. He hasn't topped three catches all season, hasn't scored a touchdown and hasn't been over 37 receiving yards. Something tells us he won't have the same kind of success against the Eagles this time around. Miller is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 13.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller went without a catch until very late in the Week 12 game against the Redskins. Miller was only targeted once in the game by QB Tarvaris Jackson before the final series of plays. Miller caught one pass for 2 yards in the game on that final series. Miller now has just 16 catches for 135 yards on the season for Seattle.
Analysis: Miller has underwhelmed Fantasy owners all season as he's yet to record a touchdown on the year. In fact, Miller has yet to catch more than three passes in a game for the Seahawks. Seattle meets the Eagles Week 13 and Philadelphia has been among the best in the NFL at limiting the Fantasy production of opposing tight ends. That doesn't bode well for Miller, who should not be considered anything more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 13.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller will be looking for his first touchdown of the season when the Seahawks host the Redskins Week 12. Miller caught just one pass Week 11 at St. Louis for 10 yards. Miller has faced the Redskins once in his career, back in 2009. In that game, Miller caught seven passes for 46 yards and no scores.
Analysis: Miller has just 15 catches for 133 yards and no scores in nine games this season. He has failed to record a catch in two games and has just one grab in two others. The Redskins did give up a touchdown and 85 yards to Jason Witten last week, but Miller is no Witten. Miller is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 12.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller had just one catch for 10 yards during the Seahawks' 24-7 win over St. Louis in Week 11. Miller was targeted just once by QB Tarvaris Jackson as he was limited to fewer than two catches for the fourth time this season. He still has yet to reach the end zone this year.
Analysis: Miller continues to be a Fantasy disappointment this season and has totaled just 15 receptions for 133 yards. He is not an integral part of the passing game and even if he was, he would be limited by the ineffectiveness of Jackson. He should not be considered a viable option against Washington in Week 12.
News: For his standards, Seattle TE Zach Miller turned in one of his most productive outings of the season last Sunday against Baltimore. Miller finished with three receptions for 24 yards as he topped 20 yards receiving for only the third time this season. He will look to continue his momentum versus St. Louis in Week 11. Miller finished with three catches for 49 yards against the Rams last season while he was a member of the Raiders.
Analysis: Miller continues to spend most of his time on offense as a blocker and that trend is likely to continue this Sunday. He has been a massive Fantasy disappointment this season and has a total of 14 catches for 123 yards with no touchdowns. Like the Ravens, St. Louis has also been tough against tight ends this year and is permitting an average of just 3.67 Fantasy points per game. Keep Miller reserved in most formats for Week 11.
News: The Seahawks had wanted to get TE Zach Miller more involved in the offense in Week 10 against the Ravens. For most of the year he's been used more as a blocker, but Tarvaris Jackson targeted him four times on Sunday. Miller caught three passes for 24 yards in the contest. The Seahawks would win the game, 22-17.
Analysis: Miller hasn't been an option in the passing game this year, but perhaps Seattle will have to start utilizing the big man moving forward. Seattle had two receivers (Doug Baldwin and Sidney Rice) both leave Week 10 with head injuries. If those two can't take the field next week against the Rams, Miller could see a lot of looks. But for now, Miller is a low-end TE option in Fantasy leagues.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller has had two games this season where he has not caught a pass. In Week 10, Seattle faces Baltimore a team that has been allowing just three Fantasy points per contest to the opposing team's tight ends. The Ravens have been giving up 192.6 passing yards per contest and six passing touchdowns in eight games.
Analysis: Miller is not a big-time factor in Seattle as many thought he'd be. With Tarvaris Jackson the starting quarterback the offense doesn't score a ton of points. Fantasy owners should not be starting Miller in any Fantasy leagues for Week 10.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller got the start in Week 9 against the Cowboys, but he was not targeted in the game. It was the second time in seven games this season that Miller did not make a catch.
Analysis: It appeared to be a good matchup for Miller in Week 9, but QB Tarvaris Jackson relied heavily on his wide receivers against the Cowboys, leaving his starting tight end out in the cold. In any event, Miller is a very low-end Fantasy TE option, so owners in most formats can ignore him in Week 10.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller has had an unremarkable first half of the season, but he gets his best matchup of the year in Week 9. Miller will go up against the Cowboys, who have been the league's most porous defense against tight ends. Dallas has allowed the most targets, receptions and receiving yards to opposing tight ends on a per-game basis so far this season. Though Miller has yet to gain more than 37 yards in a game in 2011, the Cowboys have already allowed five different tight ends to gain 60 receiving yards in a game against them.
Analysis: The Seahawks have one of the league's least potent passing attacks, so even with the best matchups, there will be limited opportunities for Miller to make an impact in Fantasy. However, his Week 9 matchup against the Cowboys is about as good as it gets. At least for this week, owners can trust Miller as a No. 2 Fantasy TE, but he is still not worth a start in standard formats.
News: After missing the last game due to neck and head injuries, Seahawks TE Zach Miller returned for Week 8 against the Bengals. He caught three passes for 37 yards in the 34-12 loss. He was targeted five times in the defeat and had a long reception of 17 yards.
Analysis: Miller has not been very productive in his first season in Seattle but at least he appears to be healthy at this point. He saw a good amount of passes thrown his way on Sunday and that trend should continue to as he develops more and more with QB Tarvaris Jackson. But until he starts proving his worth on the field, continue to view Miller as more of a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 9 against the Cowboys.
News: After missing Seattle's last game due to neck and head injuries, TE Zach Miller returned for Week 8 against the Bengals. Cincinnati ranks fifth in the league against the pass and have allowed an average of 6.7 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Miller, who has mainly been dealing with a concussion, has been an underwhelming Fantasy producer this season. The 25-year-old has posted just eight receptions for 62 yards and has yet to reach the end zone. Cincinnati poses a tough challenge for his return so consider Miller a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller is probable for Week 8 against Cincinnati after dealing with neck and head injuries recently. Miller was able to participate in practice in full the past two days after being limited on Wednesday. He has not played since Oct. 9 against the Giants.
Analysis: Miller, who has mainly been dealing with a concussion, is expected to rejoin the lineup against the Bengals, but he has been an underwhelming Fantasy producer this season. The 25-year-old has posted just eight receptions for 62 yards and has yet to reach the end zone. Cincinnati poses a tough challenge for his return and is permitting an average of 6.7 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Consider Miller a low-end Fantasy option if healthy.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (neck, head) said he has been cleared to practice Thursday without limitation and is progressing toward returning to the lineup Week 8 against the Bengals, reports The Seattle Times. "Excited to be back out there, and excited to not have to watch anymore," Miller said.
Analysis: Miller is hinting about his return to the lineup, but coach Pete Carroll still lists him as a game-time decision. Cincinnati ranks fifth in the league against the pass and have allowed an average of 6.7 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Even if Miller plays, he has very low-end Fantasy appeal thanks to his awful start to the season.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (neck, head) returned to limited practice Wednesday, according to his head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll added, however, that Miller will likely be a game-time decision Week 8 against the Bengals. Cincinnati ranks fifth in the league against the pass and have allowed an average of 6.7 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Cameron Morrah started Week 7 when Miller was out.
Analysis: The NFL continues to impose strict guidelines for head injuries, so Miller needs to pass certain protocol before returning to action. However, this is not years past when Miller has mattered in Fantasy. The move to Seattle has rendered him useless for the time being, so even if Miller is back in Week 8, he is a risky Fantasy play.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that TE Zach Miller, who sat out Week 7 with neck and head injuries, has yet to be cleared to return. However, he will be tested again Wednesday. Seattle plays Cincinnati in Week 8.
News: As expected, Seahawks TE Zach Miller (neck, head) is inactive for Week 7 at Cleveland. He was ruled out on the injury report Friday. Anthony McCoy starts for the Seahawks at tight end.
Analysis: Despite the Seahawks having their bye in Week 6, the additional rest was unable to get Miller back on the field for Sunday's game. Miller will miss a favorable matchup in Week 7 as he attempts to make an impact in his first season with Seattle. He has just eight receptions for 62 yards while failing to reach the end zone this year. Consider him a low-end option in the majority of Fantasy formats when healthy.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller was ruled out for Week 7 against Cleveland because of a concussion, according the team's official web site. Miller has not been able to practice this past week as a result of the head injury he sustained in Week 5 against the Giants. Anthony McCoy -- the only other healthy tight end on the team -- could start in Miller's place, though the Seahawks could make a roster move at the position.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller missed practice for the second straight day Thursday as he continues to deal with head and neck injuries. Miller suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Giants and had an MRI taken. The Seahawks were idle in Week 6, which could may have benefited Miller as he continues to seek his first breakout performance of the season. If Miller is unable to play Sunday, Seattle may need to make a roster move at tight end. As of now, the only healthy player at the position on Seattle's active roster is Anthony McCoy.
Analysis: After signing a lucrative deal in the offseason, Miller has failed to meet expectations during his first five games with the Seahawks. He earns a favorable matchup in Week 7 -- if he can play -- against Cleveland, which is surrendering an average of 11 Fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, third-highest in the NFL. Tight ends have also tallied five touchdowns in five games against the Browns. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Miller's status for the game as his Fantasy value is limited to a risky sleeper option.
News: TE Zach Miller hasn't met expectations in his first five games with the Seahawks and he will look to potentially have his breakout performance in Week 7 at Cleveland, if he makes it onto the field. Miller, who suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Giants, was limited in practice Wednesday. But he will want to be ready for this matchup seeing how the Browns are allowing TEs to average 11 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for third highest in the NFL. TEs have totaled five touchdowns in five games against Cleveland.
Analysis: Seattle threw big money at Miller this offseason to help boost their presence in the passing game, but Miller has yet to make an impact. But this is as good as any week for that to finally happen. It's just that Miller is nothing more than a risky sleeper option in Fantasy since he has been so bad this season.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (neck) will return to practice Wednesday after sitting out last weeks pre-bye practices. Coach Pete Carroll said Miller should be able to play Sunday.
Analysis: Miller has caught just eight passes for 62 yards so far in his first season with the Seahawks as poor quarterback play has hindered him. While he might be able to return in Week 7 against the Browns, continue to view Miller as a low-end Fantasy TE.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that TE Zach Miller is getting an MRI on his neck after sustaining a concussion Week 5 against the Giants. He had no catches Sunday before a high hit from Kenny Phillips took him out of the game.
Analysis: This has just been a disappointing start to Miller's career with the Seahawks. After paying him big money, Miller has had a terrible start offensively this season and is now injured. Lucky for him that the Seahawks are on a bye in Week 6, but Miller will be a poor Fantasy option -- healthy or not -- come Week 7 against the Browns.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (knee) was activated for Week 5 against the Giants, as expected. He had been listed as probable on the injury report. He finished the game without a catch or a target.
Analysis: Miller has not been the same Fantasy producer he was last season with Oakland and is averaging a lowly 7.8 yards per reception this year. Barring a significant role change, he is not a player worthy of hanging on to in Fantasy at this time.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (knee) was activated for Week 5 against the Giants, as expected. He had been listed as probable on the injury report.
Analysis: Miller playing is good news for the Seahawks as they only have one other healthy tight end on the roster. However, Miller has not been the same Fantasy producer he was last season with Oakland and is averaging a lowly 7.8 yards per reception this year. New York has limited opposing tight ends to a combined 120 yards and no touchdowns over the past three weeks. Fantasy owners should keep him on the bench for Week 5.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller (knee) is listed as probable for Week 5 at N.Y. Giants and is expected to play Sunday. Miller suffered the injury in Week 4 against Atlanta, but still managed his most productive game of the season. He had three receptions for 21 yards in a 30-28 loss.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller was back at practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session with a knee injury. Miller suffered the injury in Week 4 against Atlanta, but still managed his most productive game of the season. He had three receptions for 21 yards in a 30-28 loss. The Seahawks travel to New York to face the Giants in Week 5.
Analysis: Miller's return is certainly good news for the Seahawks as they only have one other healthy tight end on the roster.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller was held out of practice on Wednesday. The Seattle Times reports that Miller suffered an injury to his knee and ankle on Sunday against the Falcons.
Analysis: Healthy or not, Miller remains a very low-end option at TE for Fantasy purposes. Miller hauled in three receptions for 21 yards during the Seahawks' 30-28 loss to Atlanta in Week 4. The Giants have yet to allow a touchdown to an opposing tight end this season. Since allowing Fred Davis to get over 100 receiving yards in Week 1 for the Redskins, the Giants have held opposing TEs to a combined 120 yards over the past three weeks.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller hauled in three receptions for 21 yards during the Seahawks' 30-28 loss to Atlanta in Week 4 on Sunday. Miller was targeted six times by QB Tarvaris Jackson, including with a pass in the end zone during the third quarter. However, the ball bounced off his pads and was intercepted on the deflection by the Falcons' Thomas DeCoud. His longest reception went for 13 yards to match a season high.
Analysis: Miller hasn't contributed much this season, but was able to surpass his previous high reception total (two) in the loss. The 6-foot-5 tight end has been needed as a blocker often in the team's running game that is ranked in the bottom five of the NFL. Miller has yet to score a touchdown and faces another difficult matchup in Week 5 against the Giants. Consider him a low-end TE option in all Fantasy formats for now.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller's sluggish start continued last Sunday against Arizona as he notched two receptions for a season-low nine yards. He now has five total catches for a lowly 41 yards as he's mainly been needed as a blocker on the Seahawks' poor offensive line. Miller, who has also failed to reach the end zone this year, will look to slightly improve his numbers during Seattle's Week 4 matchup against visiting Atlanta.
Analysis: What a difference a year -- and new team -- makes. At this time last year, Miller had recorded 11 total receptions through three games as a member of the Oakland Raiders before hauling in a season-high 11 catches in Week 4 against Houston. Fantasy owners can only dream of those numbers as Miller is unlikely to duplicate those statistics as the Seahawks' passing game ranks 30th in the NFL. Leave Miller on the bench for Week 4.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller didn't do much for the Seahawks in Week 3 against the Cardinals. He was targeted by three times, catching two passes for 9 yards. Seattle would win the game, 13-10.
Analysis: Miller has just five catches for 41 yards through the first three weeks of the season. Those aren't the numbers you want out of your starting tight end. The Seahawks will have to figure out a way to get him involved in the offense more before Fantasy owners put him in their lineup. Continue to view him as more of a No. 2 TE option heading into Week 4 versus the Falcons.
News: Seahawks TE Zach Miller has been quiet so far in his stint with Seattle. He has just three catches for 32 yards in two weeks with his new team. However, his Week 3 opponent, Arizona is one of the worst defensive teams when it comes to covering tight ends. They've given up 13 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown in two games this season, to opposing team's tight ends.
Analysis: Even though Miller has a favorable matchup this week, Fantasy owners shouldn't jump on this bandwagon. The Seahawks got shut out last week and although they face a low-end defense this Sunday, Miller and company don't have much Fantasy value. Owners should continue to keep Miller on the bench until he shows us something this season.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller had another rough game in Week 2 at the Steelers. Miller had one catch for 13 yards. In two games with the Seahawks, Miller now has three catches for 32 yards. He had only two targets against Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Miller has minimal Fantasy appeal following his move from Oakland to Seattle. Continue to monitor his progress, but don't plan on starting him in the majority of leagues in Week 3 against Arizona.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller enters Week 2 at the Steelers with what could be a favorable matchup -- at least on paper. In Week 1 against Baltimore, the Steelers allowed seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown to tight ends Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. But don't base the Steelers ability to stop tight ends on that game alone. In 2010, the Steelers were among the top five teams against opposing tight ends in Fantasy points allowed, giving up just four touchdowns for the season. Miller has faced the Steelers in each of the past two seasons with the Raiders, and he has just six catches for 52 yards combined.
Analysis: The Steelers will be motivated from their Week 1 performance against the Ravens and should look to work on the things that went wrong in that game, including stopping the tight end. That doesn't bode well for Miller, who should only be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE at best in this game. He is not worth starting in the majority of leagues.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller was targeted four times in Week 1 by QB Tarvaris Jackson, catching two passes for 19 yards. The Seahawks would lose to the 49ers on Sunday by the score of 33-17.
Analysis: Miller is the starting TE in Seattle with John Carlson out for the year. Miller got a few looks, but not as many as he probably would have liked. This is his first season with Seattle and it has gotten off to a slow start. Fantasy owners continue to view Miller as a No. 2 TE option for Week 2 as the Seahawks face the Steelers.
News: Seattle TE Zach Miller is set to make his debut with the Seahawks on Sunday against San Francisco. With Sidney Rice looking more and more unlikely to play and John Carlson out for the year, Miller could be the main target for QB Tarvaris Jackson. Miller played against the 49ers last season while he was with the Raiders. He caught two passes for 48 yards in that contest.
Analysis: The fact all the other options in Seattle are banged up, by default Miller could step up for a big game. In his four-year career (all in Oakland), Miller has posted solid numbers -- averaging 57 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns a year. But his quarterback situation isn't much better in Seattle, so Fantasy owners continue to view Miller as a No. 2 TE option for Week 1.
News: Free agent TE Zach Miller has reached an agreement with the Seahawks, the team confirmed. Miller has spent his entire four-year career with the Raiders, but he was an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Analysis: In Seattle, Miller will be considered a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy TE in the majority of leagues, just as he would have been in Oakland. He has posted quality stats throughout his career, averaging 57 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns a year, but he would lose some appeal with the Seahawks since Tarvaris Jackson would be his QB and targets like Sidney Rice and Mike Williams will keep him from having big numbers. But the team is making an upgrade here and so long as Miller is healthy he should be good for Fantasy. Miller is worth drafting with a middle- to late-round pick in most formats.
News: ESPN reported Monday that free agent TE Zach Miller was in Seattle, and he is strongly considering joining the team. The Seahawks have some of the deepest pockets in the NFL, and they are trying to keep the solid Miller there. He was expected to re-sign with the Raiders originally.
Analysis: Miller would be making a solid financial decision to join the Seahawks, but his numbers and Fantasy value would take a hit in the process. Tavaris Jackson is in line to start at QB for Pete Carroll's team, which would be a considerable downgrade from Jason Campbell especially considering that the Seahawks have already brought in WR Sidney Rice to pair with the resurgent Mike Williams on the outside. We would like to see Miller stay in Oakland, where he is near the top of the pecking order in the passing game. He had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate. Miller is a No. 1 Fantasy TE, but the status would be in question a bit in Seattle. Stay tuned.
News: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the first thing on the Raiders to-do list is re-sign TE Zach Miller. He is an unrestricted free agent as a result of the new rules, so that first- and third-round tender the team gave him before the lockout is out the window. Owner Al Davis was toying with the idea of giving Miller the franchise tag this spring, so the owner definitely plans on bringing back Miller.
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Miller ends up, but we expect him to remain with the Raiders in 2011. He should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy option, and he's worth drafting with a mid-round pick. Miller had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
News: Although Zach Miller's free-agent status will be determined when the lockout ends, the San Francisco Chronicle reports former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann feels Miller will be in for a big season if he returns to Oakland. The reason is because of first-year offensive coordinator Al Saunders. "Al is one of the great offensive minds in the history of the game, but his real gift is the way he asks professionals to do thier job," Theismann said. "Al loves tight ends, really loves them. And Zach is a really good one, so I know Al is excited about that."
Analysis: It's not like Miller has been irrelevant in Fantasy. In fact, he was one of the best options at TE in the first half in 2010, but then he was slowed in the second half by injury and didn't really emerge again until the final weeks of the season. QB Jason Campbell also likes throwing to Miller, so if Saunders carries through with getting the ball to the TEs and Miller re-signs with Oakland, then he can be looked as a No. 1 Fantasy TE on Draft Day. If you miss on the elite TE options, then Miller could be a nice mid-round sleeper.
News: According to ESPN.com, the Raiders and TE Zach Miller have already engaged in preliminary extension talks for a new contract. Miller is a free agent, but with the lockout and uncertain rules of a potential new CBA, it's not clear whether he is a restricted or unrestricted free agent. The Raiders have given Miller the high tender in case he is restricted, and it appears like Oakland will do whatever it takes to retain his services.
Analysis: We expect Miller to remain in Oakland barring a significant change this offseason. Continue to monitor what develops, but look for Miller to stay in black and silver in 2011. He remains a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into the year. Miller battled a nagging foot injury and had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
News: Oakland tendered contracts to TE Zach Miller and RB Michael Bush on Friday to keep the right to match any offers they receive if they become restricted free agents. The Raiders did not announce the moves, but Miller said told The Associated Press that he received his tender on Thursday. He remains hopeful he can reach a long-term deal with the Raiders. "We had preliminary discussions before the deadline," he said. "Once all the CBA stuff is sorted out and free agency starts, I'm sure we'll pick those up again. I'd like to be back in Oakland. I feel like our team is getting better and better and I think Hue Jackson will be a great head coach." Miller battled a nagging foot injury and had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
Analysis: Miller is also Oakland's player representative and is keeping his teammates apprised of the developments in the labor talks going on in Washington. The current labor deal had been set to run out Thursday night. But the sides have agreed to extend the deal until next Friday in hopes or reaching an agreement before a potential lockout. "I think it's a good sign," he said. "It means there's more time to work on a deal and work something fair out so there is no lockout and there is a football season coming up. I think it's a good thing." Miller, who is third in franchise history for most receptions by a tight end (226), should be healthy by the start of the 2011 season. If he is, Miller is certainly worth viewing as a No. 1 Fantasy TE in drafts.
News: Because the Raiders gave contract extensions to CB Stanford Routt and Richard Seymour and placed the franchise tag on LB Kamerion Wimbley, signs point to TE Zach Miller being allowed to leave as a free agent. Miller said earlier this offseason that he wanted to remain with the Raiders, but Oakland has not committed to him as of yet. He is officially a free agent as of March 4, though the terms of such will depend on the league's new CBA.
Analysis: Miller finished 2010 with 60 catches for 685 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, though he also dealt with a nagging foot injury throughout the year and missed some time. He'll be fine for the start of the 2011 season, and chances are he'll start somewhere. Potential landing spots include Carolina, Buffalo, Miami and of course a reunion with Oakland, and assuming he's not catching passes from a completely inept quarterback, figure that Miller will be worth a middle- to late-round pick as a No. 1 TE.
News: TE Zach Miller told Sirius NFL Radio on Wednesday that he'd like to reach a new deal with the Raiders soon so he can stay with the team. Miller, scheduled to be a free agent, is excited about Hue Jackson being named head coach and thinks the team is close to being playoff bound.
Analysis: Miller finished 2010 with 60 catches for 685 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, though he also dealt with a nagging foot injury throughout the year and missed some time. Miller is playing in the Pro Bowl, though, so the injury shouldn't impact him heading into 2011. Assuming he sticks with the Raiders, he fits in as a good value as a middle- to low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE worth a late-round pick in drafts.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a quiet game in Week 17 at Kansas City on Sunday. Miller had five catches for 31 yards. He was able to play despite coming into the week with a foot injury, which has plagued him for most of the season. Miller finished 2010 with 60 catches for 685 yards and a career-high five touchdowns.
Analysis: Miller was on his way to a tremendous season before the foot injury started to bother him in the middle of the season. We expect him to return at 100 percent in 2011, and he should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy TE. Plan on drafting Miller with a mid-round pick in all leagues.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (probable, foot) was not listed among the inactives for Week 17 at Kansas City. Miller will be looking to build on his second-best outing of the season in Week 16. In that game, Miller caught nine passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Miller missed the first game against Kansas City earlier this season with a foot injury.
Analysis: Miller got off to a good start this season, but the foot injury that caused him to miss the previous game with the Chiefs really set him back for a month or so, and he's only started to get back on track over the last few weeks. The Chiefs have been tough against Fantasy TEs this season though, allowing just 5.6 Fantasy points a game, so Miller could find his work cut out for him on Sunday. Still, his performance last week shows he's almost back to full health, so start him as a solid No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 17.

News: After going seven straight games without a touchdown, Raiders TE Zach Miller finally got off the schneid in Week 16 against the Colts. He caught a 6-yard scoring strike in the fourth quarter from QB Jason Campbell for his touchdown since Week 7. Miller finished with nine catches for 66 yards in the 31-26 loss. He led Oakland in receptions, receiving yards and targets (12).
Analysis: Miller leads the Raiders with a career-high five touchdown grabs on the year and had a big game on Sunday after minimal production over the last two months. On a day in which Oakland could not get their running game going, Campbell looked Miller's way early and often and pulled his team within one score with his late touchdown. Injuries and inconsistent quarterback play have hindered his stats this season but he could make up for it against Kansas City in the season finale. Miller missed the previous matchup between the division foes due to a foot injury but he should be considered a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 17.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was active for Week 16 against the Colts despite being listed on the injury report with a foot injury. Indianapolis enters Sunday ranked 11th in the NFL against the pass, giving up almost 210 yards per contest, and have allowed an average of 5.9 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Miller hasnt caught a touchdown pass since Oct. 24, but he still leads the team with four. He has sprinkled in a few decent performances here and there but overall his season has been a disappointment. Injuries and inconsistent quarterback play have hindered his Fantasy value but he could be in line for a bounce-back performance in Week 16. The Colts gave up six catches for 63 yards to TE Mercedes Lewis a week ago and the Raiders have been playing better in recent weeks. Consider Miller a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy TE against Indianapolis on Sunday.

News: Raiders TE Zach Miller saw a lot of passes thrown his way in Week 15 against the Broncos, but he could only come up with a few grabs. He was targeted a team-high seven times by QB Jason Campbell, finishing with four catches for 39 yards in the 39-23 win. Miller had a long reception of 27 and averaged 9.8 yards per reception. He also had a long touchdown strike called back on an illegal-procedure penalty.
Analysis: Miller could have a had a more productive day on Sunday but drops and penalties cost him. He had at least three catches negated by various penalties and has now gone six straight games without a touchdown grab. The last time he reached the end zone was Week 7 against the Broncos and he could be in line for another slow game against the Colts next Sunday. Indianapolis came into Week 15 with the eighth-best pass defense in the league. Considering the matchup and his recent struggles, consider Miller a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 16.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (foot) was active for Week 15 against the Broncos. Denver ranks 19th in the NFL in pass defense, giving up over 226 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 8.2 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. When the division foes met earlier in the year, Miller caught three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Miller's touchdown in Week 7 against Denver was the last time he has reached the end zone and his 68 yards receiving a week ago were his most since the fourth game of the season. Injuries and inconsistent quarterback play have hindered his Fantasy value but now that Jason Campbell has gotten into a groove, he should be able to finish strong. While Oakland might want to run the ball more against Denver's 31st-ranked rush defense, Miller remains a solid red-zone threat. Consider the 25-year-old a No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 15, now that he has been ruled active.
News: After having his best performance in almost two months in his last outing, Raiders TE Zach Miller will look to build on that in Week 15 against the Broncos. News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had his best game yet since coming back from a foot injury, catching four passes for 68 yards at Jacksonville in Week 14. Miller had struggled leading up to the game but did fine here, landing five targets throughout the contest.
Analysis: We've been waiting for Miller to re-emerge, and he took a step forward in this matchup. Next is a showdown with the Broncos in Oakland, a matchup that is pretty healthy for Miller given the Broncos' recent deficiencies against tight ends (four touchdowns allowed to TEs over their last three). You might want to get Miller in lineups for Week 15 .
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (foot) was listed as active for Week 14 at Jacksonville. He was limited in practice on Thursday but practiced in full on Friday.
Analysis: Miller is well enough to play, but he has been hampered by his injured foot in recent weeks. He should be trusted only in deeper formats for Week 14.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (foot) returned to a full practice Friday and was upgraded to probable for Week 14 against the Jaguars. Miller has not missed a game since sitting out Week 9. He is expected to face a defense that is allowing TEs to average 7.8 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for eighth highest in the NFL.
Analysis: Miller was having a great season for Fantasy owners up until injuring his foot in Week 8. Since then, he has only five catches for 28 yards in his last four games. Although he continues to play through pain this foot injury is limiting Miller's ability to make plays. Even though he has a favorable matchup in Week 14 against a Jags defense that's allowed a touchdown to six different tight ends this season, it's just tough to trust Miller in Fantasy given his recent production and foot injury.

News: Raiders TE Zach Miller did not see many passes thrown his way in Week 13 against the Chargers. He was targeted for just one pass from QB Jason Campbell, making the grab for 5 yards in the 28-13 win. Miller, who entered Sunday with foot and leg injuries, has four catches for 20 yards in his last three games.
Analysis: Miller has not reached the end zone since Week 7, and that was the last time he had more than 9 yards receiving too. Injuries and inconsistent quarterback play in Oakland have slowed him down this season and Fantasy owners have to be disappointed at this point. The Raiders prefer to run the ball with their stud RBs Darren McFadden and Michael Bush, but Campbell has gotten more comfortable as a starter lately. Miller has been too inconsistent to trust in most leagues so consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE against the Jaguars in Week 14.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was active for Week 13 against the Chargers after being limited in practice all week with foot and leg injuries. San Diego ranks second in the league against the pass, allowing just 192.5 yards per contest, but have given up an average of 8.3 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends. When the division foes met earlier in the year, Miller caught six passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Miller has been battling plantar fasciitis and suffered a leg contusion against Miami last week but he was good to go against the Chargers on Sunday. He had three catches for 15 yards the past two games and has not scored a touchdown in over a month. His success against the Chargers earlier in the year was nice to see but he is banged up and San Diego is playing well of late. Consider Miller a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 13.

Analysis: Miller has been battling plantar fasciitis and suffered a leg contusion against Miami on Sunday so Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status heading into Week 13. He had three catches for 15 yards the past two games. Its frustrating getting all these little things, but Im staying optimistic about it, he said. He has not scored a touchdown in over a month and missed a game in that span. He has not scored a touchdown in over a month and missed a game in that span. Monitor his progress throughout the week to see if he can get back on the field for Sunday. When healthy, Miller is a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller suffered an injury to his fibula in Week 12 against the Dolphins and was unable finish the game. Miller had just one reception for 6 yards in the 33-17 loss and was seen on limping around on the sideline. After the game coach Tom Cable said X-rays were negative.
Analysis: Miller is still being bothered a a foot injury, so this is the last thing Fantasy owners wanted to hear. He has just four receptions for 23 yards over his last three contests and now could miss some time with his latest injury. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress this week to see if he will be able to play in Week 13 against the Chargers. However, even if he does play, Miller should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE against a very stingy Chargers' defense.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller has officially been ruled active for Week 12 against the Dolphins. Miller was limited in practice on Friday with a foot injury, but was seen running extra pass routes for QB Jason Campbell after practice. The Dolphins have also allowed an average of just 5.0 Fantasy points to opposing TEs this year.
Analysis: Miller has been hobbled by this injury since Week 8 and it has shown in his recent production. He has just three receptions for 17 yards over his last two contests and missed Week 9 because of the injury. Miami has only allowed two TEs to post over 10 Fantasy points against them this year, and both the touchdowns the unit has surrendered were caught by Dustin Keller in the same game. Consider Miller a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Sunday's matchup.

News: Oakland TE Zach Miller was clearly being covered closely by the Steelers during the Week 11 matchup. With the Raiders losing 35-3, Miller could muster just two catches for a grand total of 9 yards in the game. He was targeted seven times, however, more than any other receiver for Oakland except Jacoby Ford. Miller was clearly having a tough time on his injured foot that caused him to miss the Week 9 game against the Chiefs. Miller missed several balls he would have usually caught.
Analysis: Miller has really fallen off for Oakland in his last two games played. He has three catches for 17 yards in those two contests as the opposition has realized who to guard in the passing game to stop the Raiders. He's also playing with a foot injury and could spend some time on the practice report leading up to Week 12 against Miami. Miller was awesome earlier in the year but right now injuries have him off his game. We might suggest ignoring him in Fantasy again until he can prove his health on the field.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller (foot) is starting Week 11 in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. Miller was questionable coming into the game. Miller had expected to play in the game during the practice week.
Analysis: Miller will be facing a slumping Steelers defense that has allowed 272.6 passing yards per game since Week 6, sixth-most in the league. The Steelers have especially struggled against tight ends, allowing 7.7 Fantasy points per game to them, tied for ninth-most in the league. They just gave up three touchdowns to Patriots rookie TE Rob Gronkowski last week. The Raiders might have to rely on their passing game more than usual against the Steelers' top-ranked run defense, so Miller is worth activating as a No. 1 Fantasy TE now that he's healthy and starting.

He's a go-to guy for QB Jason Campbell, so he's unlikely to disappear when he's playing. The Raiders might have to rely on their passing game more than usual against the Steelers' top-ranked run defense, so Miller is worth activating as a No. 1 Fantasy TE, if he is cleared on Sunday. Check back for inactives.

News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who sat out Week 9 with a foot injury, did not practice this week, but it's part of the plan to hopefully get him ready to return to action in Week 11 against the Steelers after the team's bye in Week 10. "Weve been probably cautious is the best way to say it, just trying to take care of him," coach Tom Cable said. "He is improving. Our expectation is hell be ready to go next Monday (in practice)."
Analysis: Clearly, the bye comes at a good time for Miller, who probably would have been questionable for Week 10 had the Raiders been on the schedule. With the extra week of rest his chances of returning in Week 11 are greatly increased. Miller has not disappointed Fantasy owners this season. He is tied with Vernon Davis with the fourth-most Fantasy points for a TE with 69. If he is healthy in Week 11, then Fantasy owners can insert him back into their lineups.

Analysis: Coach Tom Cable had previously said that he expected Miller to play Sunday, but he was not able to go in the end. When healthy, the 24-year-old is a No.1 Fantasy TE, but now owners will be forced to stash him away for Week 9. Miller has 461 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the year. With a bye week coming up, keep an eye on his status leading up to Week 11 against the Steelers.

Kansas City ranks 23rd in the league against the pass, allowing over 236 yards per game, and have given up an average of 6.7 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Analysis: Coach Tom Cable said Thursday he expects Miller to be able to play Sunday, but his stud tight end has now missed three straight days of practice. Miller had just one catch for 8 yards in Week 8 and has seen his production go down with Jason Campbell at quarterback. When healthy, the 24-year-old is a No.1 Fantasy TE, but many people won't be able to afford to wait until 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday to see if he's active or not. You're better off looking elsewhere for a healthier option.

News: Oakland TE Zach Miller needed one catch in Week 8 against Seattle to get his 200th reception of his career. That his all he would get as he was targeted twice, catching one pass for 8 yards. Miller entered the game with a sore foot, and left the game briefly because of that nagging issue.

Tom Cable is sticking to his guns and says when Bruce Gradkowski is healthy, he'll take over at quarterback. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on the quarterback situation in Oakland. He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday.
Analysis: Miller had a 43-yard touchdown reception in Week 7, but was relatively quiet after that first quarter catch. With the quarterback situation not resolved in Oakland, Miller's Fantasy value remains constant. It won't be an easy matchup, but Miller is the go-to guy for whomever is under center for the Raiders. He's the safety valve and should be viewed as a No. 1 Fantasy TE option for Week 8, despite having a minor setback with his foot.

The Seahawks are allowing 261.3 yards through the air per contest. Miller practiced in full on Wednesday as he's been dealing with a minor foot issue, but saw limited actin on Thursday.
News: Oakland QB Jason Campbell found tight end Zach Miller uncovered for a 43-yard walk-in touchdown after linebackers Joe Mays and D.J. Williams both bit on the pump fake for a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into Sunday's game at Denver. Miller was targeted a team-high six times and caught three passes for 65 yards. His touchdown reception was Oakland's first opening-drive touchdown of the season.
Analysis: Miller needed four catches to reach 200 for his career entering Sunday, but fell just one catch short. Now he will aim to get the job done in Week 8 against Seattle. The Seahawks entered Week 7 allowing 290.8 yards per game through the air -- third worst in the NFL. Miller is the safety valve in Oakland and is always a top target for whomever is under center. He is a No. 1 Fantasy TE option in Week 8.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller has 30 catches on the year, which averages out to five catches per contest. Miller needs just four catches to become the fourth Raiders TE to reach 200 for his career. Miller is coming off a game where he managed just 48 yards on two catches. Despite needing just four catches on Sunday to add to Raiders' history, Miller hasn't had a good track record against the Broncos. In five games versus Denver he has 15 receptions for 168 yards and one touchdown. That comes out to three catches per contest.
Analysis: Denver is allowing an average of 7 Fantasy points per week to opposing tight ends, which is right in the middle of the pack. The Raiders have a quarterback issue heading into Week 7, as Jason Campbell is practicing but injured and QB Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) is also banged up. Veteran Kyle Boller is the only healthy quarterback on the roster, which is why coach Tom Cable said on Wednesday that he wasn't sure who will start this Sunday. Despite not knowing which quarterback that will be throwing him the ball in Week 7 in Denver, Miller is still viewed as a No. 1 Fantasy TE option. He's the safety valve in Oakland and will remain a top target for whomever is under center.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a hard time getting going against the 49ers in Week 6. He didnt catch a pass until the fourth quarter and finished with two for 48 yards, thanks in part to a heavy diet of double-coverage. They made sure that they ran a linebacker underneath me or a safety over the top, he said. QB Jason Campbell targeted his tight end four times in the 17-9 loss and threw an interception to LB Manny Lawson on a ball that was meant for Miller in the second quarter.
Analysis: Miller had his second-lowest performance of the season in Week 6 and had a hard time finding open space with two men constantly on him. One of his receptions came off a deflection from a defender that Miller made a nice play on but the Raiders couldn't get anything going offensively on Sunday. Campbell might be out as the starter in Oakland so Fantasy owners should check back to see if QB Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) will be healthy enough to play next week. Miller has caught 30 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns this season and should continue to be viewed as a No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 7 against the Broncos.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller has had a productive season thus far and will face a 49ers defense in Week 6 that has allowed quite a few passing yards. San Francisco ranks 21st in the league against the pass and has given up an average of 7.60 Fantasy points to opposing tight ends through the first five games. Miller has already matched his career high with three touchdown catches on the year.
Analysis: Miller has caught 28 passes on the year for 340 yards and should be able to find room to make plays against the 49ers on Sunday. He will likely have QB Jason Campbell as his quarterback in Week 6, which should keep his value high. He caught a touchdown pass from Campbell in last weeks win over the Chargers. Miller has scored in three consecutive games for the Raiders and should continue to put up solid numbers throughout the course of the season. Miller is easily a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into the Week 5 game against the 49ers.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller was once again the top option in the passing game in the Week 5 victory over the Chargers. In a game that saw starter Bruce Gradkowski get injured, Miller was targeted eight times and caught six passes for 62 yards to lead the team in all those numbers. Miller caught a 1-yard TD pass from Jason Campbell in the back of the end zone in the third quarter.
Analysis: Miller, who went nuts in Week 4 against Houston with 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, has now scored in three consecutive games for the Raiders. It doesn't seem to matter who is throwing the passes, Miller is the top receiver for Oakland regardless. He's fast becoming one of the top Fantasy TEs in all of the NFL and should be a must-start Fantasy play for Week 6 at San Francisco.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller (hip) was active for the Week 5 game against the Chargers. Miller, who was outstanding in Week 4 against Houston with 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, heads into Week 5 against the Chargers third among NFL tight ends in targets (33) and fourth among tight ends in Fantasy points (41).
Analysis: San Diego has been mediocre against opposing tight ends and Miller is likely going to be the toughest they've faced yet. Seattle's John Carlson scored against them in Week 3. Miller has scored a touchdown in two consecutive games and quarterback Bruce Gradkowski has been looking his way quite often. Miller is easily a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into the Week 5 game against the Chargers.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (hip) was upgraded to a full practice on Thursday after seeing limited reps on Wednesday. Miller, who was outstanding in Week 4 against Houston with 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, heads into Week 5 against the Chargers third among NFL tight ends in targets (33) and fourth among tight ends in Fantasy points (41). In two games against the Chargers last season, Miller caught 11 passes for 148 yards without a score. He's racked up 32 receptions, 391 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers over his last five games against them.
Analysis: It seems as though this hip injury is a minor issue for Miller, so Fantasy owners shouldn't worry. He also missed practice time in Week 4 with an injury before having a monster game. The Chargers have been middle of the pack against opposing tight ends this season but Miller is likely the best one they will have faced. Seattle's John Carlson caught five passes for 61 yards and a score against them in Week 3. Miller has scored a touchdown in two consecutive games and quarterback Bruce Gradkowski has been looking his way quite often. Miller is easily a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into the Week 5 game against the Chargers.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller, who was limited at practice Wednesday with a hip issue that also saw him miss time in practice prior to playing Week 4, has been one of the best Fantasy tight ends after four weeks of the season. Miller, who absolutely went off Week 4 against Houston with 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, heads into the Week 5 game at home against the Chargers third among NFL tight ends in targets. He's fourth among tight ends in Fantasy points overall. In two games against the Chargers last season, Miller caught 11 passes for 148 yards without a score. He's racked up 32 receptions, 391 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers over his last five games against them.
Analysis: The Chargers have been middle of the pack against opposing tight ends this season but Miller is likely the best one they will have faced. News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a big game in Week 4 against the Texans. Miller caught a career-high 11receptions for 122 yards and touchdown in the 31-24 loss. He was targeted a team-high 13 times and was on the receiving end of a 14-yard touchdown strike from Bruce Gradkowski early in the fourth quarter. Miller averaged 11.1 yards a reception and had a long of 23 yards. "It was nice to get involved in the passing game. Bruce (Gradkowski) and I were on the same page. But any time you lose it sucks. I want to have a great day when we win," Miller said.
Analysis: Miller had his best game of the season on Sunday and found the end zone for the second straight week. He has emerged as the favorite target for Gradkowski, especially in the red zone and has been targeted 22 times over the last two games. Miller faces a tough matchup in Week 5 against a very good Chargers defense. However, as long as Gradkowski keeps looking his way, consider him a No. 1 Fantasy TE heading into Week 5.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was limited in practice on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury. However, there has been no word yet on whether this will affect his status for Week 4 against the Texans. Although, Miller sounded upbeat on Wednesday for his potential matchup against Houston, who is dead last in the NFL in pass defense. "They've given up some big plays," Miller said. "We've been pretty good throwing the ball. It's kind of a matchup game in the NFL, and that's what we're looking to do." Miller has never managed a touchdown in two straight games in his career. After hauling in his first score of the 2010 season in Week 3 against the Cardinals, Miller heads into Week 4 against the Texans looking to create a little personal history.
Analysis: Miller has eight catches for 106 yards and no scores in three career games against Houston. However, the Texans have been very generous to TEs in 2010, having allowed a league-high 25 receptions to tight ends. Houston is also tied for the league lead in TDs allowed to TEs (two) and second in yards allowed (288). A tight end has managed at least 56 yards in each of the first three weeks against Houston, so Week 4 is lining up to be a very favorable matchup for Miller. He definitely benefited last week from Bruce Gradkowski taking over at QB for Oakland and the Raiders still intend to look for Miller down in the red zone. If you own Miller, then start him in Fantasy leagues for Week 4. If anything changes with his status, we will let you know.

News: Raiders TE Zach Miller scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 3 against the Cardinals. Miller was on the receiving end of a 22-yard touchdown strike from Bruce Gradkowski in the first quarter. He finished with four catches for 64 yards in the 24-23 loss. Miller averaged 16 yards per reception and was targeted nine times.
Analysis: Miller finally found the end zone on Sunday, after being shutout the first two weeks of the season. He was the second most targeted receiver during Week 3, which should be an encouraging sign for Fantasy owners. Miller looks to have a favorable matchup in Week 3 against the Texans. With Gardowski looking his way more than most and Houston's inability to defend the pass, consider Miller a a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 4.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller will have a bit of a homecoming when he goes to face Arizona in Week 3. Miller attended Phoenix's Desert Vista High School before continuing his football career at Arizona State. Miller has never faced Arizona in his career and is going up against a Cardinals secondary that has yielded just 10 catches for 60 yards to tight ends this season. The Falcons' Tony Gonzalez was held to two catches for 19 yards in Week 2.
Analysis: You know Miller will want to have a big game in front of family and friends, so he has a little extra motivation for Week 3. Miller has as many targets (11) and catches (seven) as the Jaguars' Marcedes Lewis, but Lewis has more yards (101) and more touchdowns (two) than Miller, which is why Lewis is a top three Fantasy TE through two weeks and Miller is outside the top 12. But if he gets some scores, then Miller is in a different ballpark. It doesn't appear to be a favorable matchup, but consider Miller a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 3.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller did not do a whole lot against the Rams in Week 2. He was targeted just four times in the game, catching three passes for 49 yards in the 16-14 win. He had a long reception of 33 and averaged 16.3 yards per catch.
Analysis: Miller put up similar numbers in each of the first two weeks of the season and has not been targeted as much as Fantasy owners would like to see. He jumped on the scene with two 100-yard games a year ago but has not had that much success in 2010. He faces a Cardinals defense in Week 3 that gave up 225 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Falcons on Sunday so hopefully he can produce some better stats. Consider Miller a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 3 against Arizona.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught four passes for 43 yards in his season opener against the Titans and was targeted eight times in the 38-13 loss. He faces a Rams defense in Week 2 that gave up 266 yards in the air, including one touchdown, to the Cardinals. Arizona did not utilize their tight end the same way that Oakland does, so expect Miller to have a more successful game.
Analysis: Miller has never faced the Rams in his career but they do not have much in linebackers to slow him down. A wild card could be Oshiomogho Atogwe, but St. Louis is still a team in the rebuilding phase. New QB Jason Campbell likes to use his tight end as a safety value, and Miller is definitely one of the better pass-catching tight ends in the league. Consider Miller a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 2 against the Rams.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller seemed to have a better rapport with new quarterback Jason Campbell than did the other receivers on the field Week 1 against Tennessee. Campbell, who was used to throwing to his tight end after his days in Washington, found Miller four times for 43 yards. Miller made a long grab of 27 yards in the game, a 38-13 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Miller is going to be found in the Oakland passing game by Campbell. The duo could actually have a solid performance in Week 2 as they play a team that might be worse off then them, the Rams. Miller and the Raiders face the Rams in Oakland and that bodes well. We like Miller as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 2 against the Rams. He has a good chance of scoring.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller has only squared off against the Tennessee Titans once in his career. His Week 1 opponents, that game came back in 2007 when Miller was a rookie for the Raiders. Miller caught two passes for 19 yards in that game. He has come a long way since, and the Titans were one of the NFL's worst defenses in 2009. They should be a much improved unit, but Tennessee struggled to defend the tight end in 2009, allowing seven touchdowns to the position and finishing in the bottom five in terms of catches allowed to tight ends.
Analysis: Miller managed 66 catches for 805 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Raiders and we believe that offense is going to get at least a little better under quarterback Jason Campbell. Campbell loved throwing to tight end Chris Cooley in Washington and should continue to look for his tight end now that he's playing for the Silver and Black. If the Raiders score a passing touchdown, we believe it is very likely it goes to Miller, who we consider easily worth using as a No. 1 Fantasy TE for Week 1.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught a 27-yard touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Miller is a solid but unspectacular young tight end, but he could gel nicely with new QB Jason Campbell, who liked to throw to Chris Cooley in DC. We like Miller as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE with 65-catch potential this season. Look his way with a mid to late-round pick.
News:Zach Miller has clearly established himself as a favorite target of QB Jason Campbell. The Raiders tight end corralled three passes for 32 yards at Chicago on Saturday, including a 13-yard reception when he was lined up out wide and faked out Bears safety Danieal Manning for a wide-open catch. Miller has six catches for 47 yards through two preseason appearances.
Analysis: Miller should be in line for at least three catches per game each week, if not four or five. The Raiders' receiving corps has lots of potential but no one is as reliable as Miller, and it sure looks like Campbell knows that. Plus, Campbell made lots of hay by throwing to tight end Chris Cooley in Washington over the years, so keeping that up shouldn't be that tough to believe in now. We like Miller as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE with 65-catch potential this season. Look his way with a late-round pick.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller has enjoyed working with new QB Jason Campbell so far in training camp. "We have good trust," Miller said. "On certain routes he knows I'm going to win. We have a good feel for each other already on where I'm going to be." Miller finished with three catches for 15 yards in the preseason opener against Dallas, which was Miller's first game action with Campbell.
Analysis: We like Miller as a sleeper in 2010. He has played well with JaMarcus Russell, but now he has a QB who can get him the ball on a consistent basis in Campbell. Plan on drafting Miller as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller played with QB Jason Campbell for the first time in a game setting during Thursday's preseason opener against the Cowboys. Campbell looked to Miller early, hitting him for a 4-yard gain on the third play of the game. Miller was targeted four times by Campbell, but none came in the red zone. He finished with three catches for 15 yards.
Analysis: The Raiders are looking to utilize Miller a bit more in the red zone this season. But first they have to get down there. Miller was JaMarcus Russell's favorite target the last few years and we figure he will be one of Campbell's favorites as well since the Oakland receiving corps is young and inexperienced. Miller is a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE on Draft Day.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller is excited about the prospect of playing with new QB Jason Campbell. Miller caught 66 passes last year but only three for touchdowns. He's hoping Campbell can change that. "Tight ends are huge in the red zone on the other teams," Miller said. "I know that is a big point of emphasis, getting me the ball in the red zone. ... You see other tight ends scoring a lot of touchdowns and you get a little envious. You want to be celebrating the touchdowns, and I believe this year, finally, will be the year it comes."
Analysis: Miller should benefit the most with the addition of Campbell, who had a solid rapport with Chris Cooley and Fred Davis in Washington. Miller should be considered a sleeper heading into the season, but the addition of Campbell gives him the chance to be considered as a low-end No. 1 option on Draft Day. He is worth a late-round pick in all leagues this year.
News: New Raiders QB Jason Campbell has quickly become a fan of TE Zach Miller. On Wednesday, Campbell compared Miller to his former TE in Washington, Chris Cooley. "With Zach, everyone knows he's a supreme talent at tight end," Campbell said. "He's just like a Cooley. Cooley's a guy that helped us stretch the field in Washington because of his ability to make plays, and Zach has that same mentality."
Analysis: That's high praise since Cooley was Campbell's best weapon with the Redskins, and Cooley was a No. 1 Fantasy option. We expect Miller to take a giant step in production this year, and he should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day. Plan on drafting Miller as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: The Redskins traded QB Jason Campbell to Oakland on Saturday in exchange for the Raiders' fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft. The Redskins were able to part with Campbell after acquiring Donovan McNabb in a trade with Philadelphia earlier this offseason. Campbell agreed to a contract with Oakland that will pay him $3.14 million in 2010, plus a $100,000 workout bonus and $4.5 million in 2011, according to a league source. Campbell expects to start immediately as he joins an unimpressive group of quarterbacks that includes JaMarcus Russell, Charlie Frye, Kyle Boller and Bruce Gradkowski. Campbell now has a new corps of receivers in Zach Miller, Louis Murphy, Chaz Schilens and Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Analysis: Miller should benefit the most with the addition of Campbell, who had a solid rapport with Chris Cooley and Fred Davis in Washington. Miller remains a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into the season, but the addition of Campbell gives him the chance to be considered as a low-end No. 1 option on Draft Day. He is worth a late-round pick in all leagues this year.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had only 38 yards on seven receptions Week 17 against the Ravens, but he did score a touchdown for the first time since Week 11, connecting on a 12-yard pass in the second quarter.
Analysis: Miller had a surprisingly good season for a receiver on a bad offensive team with miserable quarterback play. He actually was worth using as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option at times. If the Raiders snag a better signal caller in 2010, Miller could emerge as a legit No. 1 option, but right now, he's no sure bet to get drafted. He'll matter at some point during the season, though.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught nine passes for 110 yards in Week 16 at Cleveland. He returned after missing Week 15 against Denver following a concussion suffered in Week 14 against Washington to lead all Raiders receivers in catches and yards.
Analysis: Miller clearly was not feeling any lingering effects of the concussion Sunday and was the team's best receiving option. The Raiders did not score any touchdowns in Week 16, but did throw for 333 yards and Miller was a favorite target for QB Charlie Frye. Miller has 16 catches in his last two games and can be considered a decent play for Week 17 against the Ravens, though relying on any Raiders receiver in a championship scenario is risky.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) was activated for Week 16 at Cleveland. He was limited in practice all week as he deals with the results of a concussion he sustained in Week 14 against Washington. Miller missed last week's game at Denver.
Analysis: Miller had to pass league-mandated tests before being cleared to play following a concussion and it appears he was able to do so. The Raiders will face the Browns in Week 16 and Miller should be considered more of a No. 2 TE option at this stage of the season.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was limited in practice all week as he deals with the results of a concussion he sustained in Week 14 against Washington. Miller missed last week's game at Denver and is questionable for Sunday's game at Cleveland. He needs to pass one more test. "It's the same test I've taken four times already," Miller said. "I'm really close. Feeling fine, practicing. So it looks good."
Analysis: Keep an eye on Miller's status heading into Week 16 against the Browns. When healthy, Miller is a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Oakland tight end Zach Miller passed his tests for concussion but was limited as a safety precaution in practice on Wednesday. Miller is likely to play in the Week 16 game at Cleveland but there is always the chance he has a setback.
Analysis: We hope Miller can return against the Browns because he has a great matchup. Keep an eye on his status and hope he is cleared to play. Miller would be worth using as a No. 1 TE based on the matchup.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion), who missed Sunday's game at Denver, has yet to be cleared by doctors to practice. "I'm feeling better every day," Miller said Monday. "Still not quite where I want to be." The Raiders play at Cleveland in Week 16.
Analysis: We hope Miller can return against the Browns because he has a great matchup. Keep an eye on his status and hope he is cleared to play. Miller would be worth using as a No. 1 TE based on the matchup.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) was ruled out for Week 15 at Denver. He had been considered questionable on the injury report.
Analysis: The Raiders really don't have a lot to play for this season, so it would make sense to shut Miller down for the season. Even if he is healthy, he is a risky start because he could always get knocked out again. Go find another TE option for Week 15.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) missed practice for a third straight day Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 15 at Denver. The Oakland Tribune reports that Miller is likely to be shut down this week after sustaining his second concussion since Oct. 4 last week.
Analysis: The Raiders really don't have a lot to play for this season, so it would make sense to shut Miller down. Even if he is healthy, he is a risky start because he could always get knocked out again. Go find another TE option for Week 15.
News: TE Zach Miller did not practice Thursday as he recovers from his second concussion of the season. Miller will undergo tests Friday to determine if he can play in Week 15 against the Broncos.
Analysis: The Raiders really don't have a lot to play for this season, so it would make sense to rest Miller, especially after suffering a second concussion. Even if he is healthy, he is a risky pick because he could always get knocked out again.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller sustained his second concussion of the season after a hard hit by Rocky McIntosh late in the game Sunday against the Redskins and is day to day.
Analysis: No time table has been given for his return but our hunch is that he'll miss at least a week after he takes all the standard neurological exams. Expect to be without Miller for Week 15 when he plays at the Broncos.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a season-high seven catches Week 15 against the Redskins, but he picked up only 46 yards. He now has less than 50 yards receiving in two straight games.
Analysis: Miller is the Raiders' primary receiving option, and he likely would have fared better in this game if QB Bruce Gradkowski hadn't left at halftime with a knee injury. Playing for the Raiders makes him inconsistent from week to week, but then again, most tight ends are. His upside makes him still worth using as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option at Denver in Week 15.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller caught four passes for 43 yards in the Week 13 win over Pittsburgh. His long went for 16 yards.
Analysis: Miller continues to be perhaps the Raiders most consistent receiving option. Hes scored only two touchdowns on the season but does have at least 50 yards receiving in four of his last five games. Oakland plays Washington in Week 14 and the Redskins own the No. 1 NFL pass defense. That limits Millers value. Treat him as a top-end No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 14.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller had five catches for 73 yards Thursday at Dallas. He now has 10 catches for 138 yards and a touchdown in the past two games with Bruce Gradkowski starting for JaMarcus Russell.
Analysis: Miller is worth a flier in all leagues since he appears to be playing better with a more consistent QB. He has a tough matchup in Week 13 at the Steelers, but consider Miller a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller has never faced the Cowboys before but will do so in Dallas on Thanksgiving in Week 12. Miller caught five passes for 65 yards and a touchdown during the Week 11 game against Cincinnati last weekend. He's averaging 56 yards receiving per game over his last five games and that includes a 139-yard performance with a score against Philadelphia.
Analysis: The Cowboys are not exceptionally good against the pass and Miller has been very good of late. In fact, he's been the best receiver the Raiders have to offer to Fantasy owners. For that reason, consider Miller a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 12 on Thursday.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller was the Raiders top receiver on Sunday in a Week 11 win over the Bengals. Miller caught five passes in the game, gaining a total of 65 yards and scoring a touchdown in the second quarter. It was Millers second touchdown reception of the season.
Analysis: Miller is one of the top receiving threats on a team that has struggled to throw the ball all season. However, Millers fortunes may have turned a bit with Bruce Gradkowski starting Week 11 instead of JaMarcus Russell. Think of Miller as a No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 12 at Dallas on Thanksgiving.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller caught only one pass on Sunday in a Week 10 loss to the Chiefs. He gained 9 yards on the catch. It was his worst performance since getting shut out Week 2 by the same team.
Analysis: Miller was thought to be a solid option in Week 10 because of the Chiefs tendency to allow TEs to have big games. He didnt come through however as Kansas City limited him to just one catch in the teams two games this year. The Chiefs face a below average pass defense against Cincinnati in Week 11 but Miller cant be thought of as more than a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: In his first meeting with the Chiefs earlier this season, Raiders TE Zach Miller failed to catch a pass. The division rivals meet again in Week 10. Kansas City ranks 30th against the pass and have allowed five catches and over 50 yards to two of the last three TEs they've faced.
Analysis: Considering how bad the Oakland offense is, Miller has played pretty well this season for the most part. Hopefully JaMarcus Russell looks Miller's way early and often on Sunday, but you can't predict anything too positive from Russell, so just think of Miller as a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 10.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller led the team with five catches and 52 receiving yards Week 8 at San Diego. He had only two catches for 15 yards last week.
Analysis: Miller had six catches for 139 yards two weeks ago and is one of the few Raiders players who can make an impact in Fantasy. He's more like a No. 2 Fantasy TE than a No. 1 since the Raiders have such a poor passing attack, but if you get in a pinch, you could do a lot worse than him off the waiver wire. The Raiders have a bye in Week 9 before hosting the Chiefs in Week 10.
News: The Raiders' list of inactives for Week 8 at San Diego includes LB Ricky Brown, WR Chaz Schilens, TE Tony Stewart, WR Nick Miller and QB Charlie Frye.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a big letdown in Week 7 against the Jets after a standout performance in Week 6 against the Eagles. Miller, who totaled 139 receiving yards in Week 6, managed just two catches for 15 yards against New York. Miller was targeted just three times in the game.
Analysis: It didn't help Miller's cause that starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell was benched in the second quarter for poor performance. Miller is Russell's favorite target and that usually makes him one of the most productive Raiders' receivers. Russell is going to be back under center in Week 8 against the Chargers and that's good news for Miller, who has a great history against San Diego. Consider starting Miller in Week 8. He has 19 catches for 255 yards and one touchdown in his last three games against San Diego.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who had six receptions for 96 yards in the opener, topped that performance Week 6 against the Eagles. He scored on an 86-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter and finished with six catches for 139 yards.
Analysis: Miller is the only reliable receiving threat the Raiders have, which still isn't that exciting in Fantasy since the Raiders often have trouble topping 100 yards passing. He can suffice as a No. 1 TE in Fantasy if you drew the short stick at the position, but he's more like a No. 2 because of his inconsistency. The Raiders host the Jets in Week 7.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller led all Raiders receivers in Week 5 at the Giants with four catches for 69 yards. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report with a concussion.
Analysis: Miller clearly was not suffering any lingering effects of the concussion and was the only receiver who got open for the Raiders all afternoon. He was able to find some seams up the middle of the Giants' aggressive pass defense and was really the only productive Fantasy option on the Raiders (aside from Michael Bush, who scored a touchdown). Miller has had two productive games this season and both have come against aggressive defenses (San Diego and New York). Perhaps he could be in line for similar production in Week 6 against Philadelphia and could be worth starting as a low-end No. 1 tight end. He's a decent bye week or injury-replacement option.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was listed as active for Week 5 at the N.Y. Giants. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report with a concussion.
Analysis: The NFL takes concussions very seriously, so if Miller has been cleared to play it is because he is not feeling any after effects. We consider him a No. 2 TE option for Fantasy purposes this week.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) was limited in practice Thursday, but coach Tom Cable said he's "much improved and should be full-go" on Friday.
Analysis: Miller still has to be cleared for contact. He would be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option if he's able to play and he'd likely be able to give it a go if he can practice Friday.
News: Raiders starting TE Zach Miller, who suffered a concussion Sunday against Houston, didn't practice Wednesday. Tony Stewart, a nine-year veteran, is the backup and would start in Miller's place in Week 5 at the Giants.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Miller's health heading into the Giants game. He would be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option if he's able to play. Stewart should not be used in any leagues if he starts for the injured Miller.
News: Chiefs TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 33 yards in Week 4 at Houston. He was thrown to six times in the game. Raiders coach Tom Cable said after the game that he suffered a concussion.
Analysis: Miller's mediocre numbers were actually just one yard off the team lead in receptions on an afternoon when JaMarcus Russell threw for just 128 yards. He has had one good game this season, in Week 1 against San Diego when he finished with six catches for 96 yards. That was also Russell's most productive game. As a result of the team's erratic pass offense, Miller's numbers suffer. Until that changes, we don't view him as anything more than a No. 2 option. Expect him to be a question mark to play in Week 5 at the Giants due to the concussion.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller will face a non-division opponent in Week 4 at Houston. The Texans have allowed three passing touchdowns in three games, allowing 231.7 net passing yards per contest.
Analysis: The Texans pass defense has allowed four catches to two different tight ends this season and did allow Dustin Keller of the Jets to total 94 yards receiving in Week 1. However, they have not allowed a passing touchdown to a tight end and Miller's prospects of turning in a good game without a score are weak. We don't recommend him outside of leagues that require starting two tight ends.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who got shut out Week 2 against the Chiefs, had only two receptions for 17 yards Week 3 against the Broncos.
Analysis: Miller had six catches for 96 yards in Week 1, but the Raiders' passing game has looked awful since then. He's a good player, but if the quarterback can't get him the ball, it doesn't matter. He's just a No. 2 Fantasy option Week 4 at Houston.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller caught six passes for 96 yards Week 1 against the Chargers but did not catch a single pass Week 2 at Kansas City. Heading into Week 3's game at home against Denver, he should be somewhere in between based on last season's games against the Broncos. In two games last season, Miller caught seven passes for 75 yards and no scores against Denver.
Analysis: Miller averaged 3.5 catches per game last season against Denver and we think he'll be right around that on Sunday for minimal yardage. He could, of course, break free or find the end zone but against a Denver secondary that has yet to allow a receiving touchdown this season, that seems unlikely. Treat Miller as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 3.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who torched the Chargers in Week 1 with six catches for 96 yards, had no catches in Week 2 at Kansas City.
Analysis: Miller struggled as did all the Raiders in the passing game with QB JaMarcus Russell's poor play (7 of 24 passing, 109 yards). Look for Miller to play better in Week 3 against Denver. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who opened his 2009 campaign with a nice 96-yard effort against the Chargers, will take on the Chiefs in Week 2. Kansas City allowed Ravens TE Todd Heap to go for 74 yards and a touchdown in Week 1.
Analysis: Miller is a nice emerging talent at the TE positio and is a solid sleeper option in all leagues at the moment. Feel free to start him as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE against the Chiefs.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller proved to be Oakland's most productive option in the passing game during a Week 1 loss to the Chargers. He led the team with six catches for 96 yards. Miller caught every pass thrown his way, with his longest reception going for 30 yards. Only one of his catches went for less than 11 yards.
Analysis: Miller has become QB JaMarcus Russell's favorite target the last two seasons and it's not hard to see why. Miller is a sure-handed tight end that can stretch the field. The Raiders' passing game is still nothing to clamor about, but Miller is going to get his catches and could be a No. 1 Fantasy TE by season's end. The Raiders play the Chiefs in Week 2. Miller had seven catches for 103 yards in two games against the Chiefs last season.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller is emerging as his team's best receiving option after coming down with five passes for 74 yards vs. the Saints. He has 90 yards this preseason on eight receptions, second best through three preseason games.
Analysis: Miller is the most reliable option for QB JaMarcus Russell, and we can't help but think he'll lean on him a lot this season considering the poor receivers on Oakland's roster. Think of Miller as a top-end No. 2 Fantasy TE with the potential to be a really good option in PPR leagues. Best of all, you can get him late since he's fairly under the radar while with the Raiders.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller is getting fewer passes thrown his way than usual, but he said Thursday that's "definitely a good thing" because it means QB JaMarcus Russell is gaining trust in his young wide receivers. "If we have wideouts that (the other team) is scared of or has to pay attention to, that only opens me up more," said Miller, who caught 100 passes in his first two seasons.
Analysis: Miller has proven to be a good bye-week replacement for Fantasy owners, but he has the chance to be a starting option if he could score more touchdowns. He only has four touchdowns, which is why he should still be considered a No. 2 TE again coming into the year. If he starts out playing well, add him off the waiver wire.
News: The Contra Costa Times reports Raiders TE Zach Miller, who had sports hernia surgery in the offseason, appears to have recovered nicely and should be full-go for training camp. With 56 receptions for 778 yards and a respectable 13.9 yards per catch average, Miller became the first Raiders TE since Ethan Horton in 1991 to catch 50 or more passes in a season. The Raiders would like Miller to become more of a threat in the red zone. Of Miller's 100 receptions in two years, only four have been four touchdowns, with just one last season. The report says Miller will remain JaMarcus Russell's most reliable receiver.
Analysis: The last part of that report is accurate, especially with Oakland's receiving corps this year. There's some potential there, but Miller is the best of the bunch. We like Miller as a strong No. 2 Fantasy option with the chance to be a starter if he can increase his touchdown total. He's worth a late-round pick in standard leagues.
News: The Contra Costa Times reports Raiders TE Zach Miller should be fine for training camp. The report says: "Don't worry about Zach Miller. Miller had sports hernia surgery in the offseason, but when he returned, he looked as good and as sure-handed as ever. He should catch 60-plus passes this season."
Analysis: This is a good sign, and we want to see Miller at 100 percent for training camp. He should be drafted as a No. 2 Fantasy option, but he has the chance to be a No. 1 TE this year. Take him with a late-round pick as long as he's healthy.
News: The Press Democrat reports Raiders TE Zach Miller (hernia) returned to OTA workouts on Wednesday. Miller had the hernia operation in May.
Analysis: This sounds like a good sign for Miller to be ready for the start of training camp. Miller should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE, and he's worth a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: The Contra Costa Times reports Raiders TE Zach Miller had offseason sports hernia surgery and is probably about a month away from taking the field, he said following a mini-camp practice at the beginning of May.
Analysis: It sounds like Miller should be ready for the start of training camp, but this is an injury worth keeping an eye on since Miller has the chance to be a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE. Hopefully he will be OK and not suffer any setbacks. Last year, Miller had 56 catches for 778 yards and one touchdown.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had two catches for 34 yards in a Week 17 win at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Miller caught just one touchdown in 2008, which disappointed his many Fantasy owners. He has the talent to be a No. 1 Fantasy TE, but is stuck in a bad situation in Oakland. Consider him a No. 2 option in 2009.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had the most yards receiving on the Raiders Week 16 against Houston with 70 yards on four catches with a long of 22 yards. That is about what Miller has been producing lately.
Analysis: Miller isn't getting touchdown catches to the chagrin of his Fantasy owners. He is usually between 40 and 70 yards receiving, but has scored only one touchdown the entire season. He is a low-end No. 1 option at TE for Week 17 against the Buccaneers.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (shoulder) went through limited practice reps this week as the team prepares for Week 16 vs. Houston. Miller caught five passes for 60 yards during a Week 15 game against New England.
Analysis: Miller has totaled 40 or more yards in six straight games and 60 or more in four of his last five. He is pretty much Oakland's top receiving target, but has just one touchdown this season. Consider him a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE Week 16.
News: TE Zach Miller was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury as the Raiders prepare to host the Houston Texans. Miller left Week 15's game against the Patriots with the injury.
Analysis: Miller is probably the most worthwhile offensive player in Fantasy on the Raiders roster. That said, he's still not more than a low-end No. 1 Fantasy tight end, and even that is a stretch.
News: TE Zach Miller led the Raiders in receptions with five catches for 60 yards on Sunday in Week 15 against the Patriots. His longest grab went for 23 yards.
Analysis: Miller is one of Russell's favorite targets. If someone else was throwing him the ball, we could be talking about one of the best TEs in the league. For now, consider him a low-end No. 1 Fantasy tight end.
News: The Times-Standard in Northern California reports that Raiders TE Zach Miller continues to validate his second-round selection by the team two years ago. Miller has caught 45 passes for 614 yards in 13 games this season. He has already eclipsed his rookie catch total of 44 last season. He still has three games to go, starting with Week 15 against New England.
Analysis: Just imagine what Miller can do if he had an accurate quarterback throwing to him. Consider Miller a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE in Week 15 against the Patriots.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller caught eight passes for 64 yards in Week 14's drubbing at the hands of the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night. Miller was just about the only Raiders player do anything worth of Fantasy consideration. He did leave the game temporarily just before halftime but returned to start the second half.
Analysis: Miller is obviously the only Raiders receiver to be counted on. He'll give you 3-6 catches per game with anywhere from 30 to about 80 yards. He won't often go over 100 as a tight end and he's got just one touchdown grab all season. The Raiders passing game is pitiful and that makes Miller just a No. 2 Fantasy option heading into Week 15 vs. the Patriots.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller (groin) is active and starting in Week 14 at San Diego.
Analysis: Miller has managed 40 or more yards in four straight games and has pretty much developed into JaMarcus Russell's favorite target, something we thought would happen earlier in the season. However, since he has only one touchdown in 2008, you should view him as a No. 2 Fantasy TE. His stats could see a bump since the Bolts are leaky against the pass and Russell is sure to be throwing on them.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller (groin) was able to practice in full on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for Thursday's Week 14 game against the Chargers. Miller is expected to start and challenge the league's worst pass defense. He was limited in Monday's practice.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller (groin) was able to practice in full on Tuesday in preparation for Thursday's Week 14 game against the Chargers. Miller is expected to play in the game after practicing in full.
Analysis: Miller has managed 40 or more yards in four straight games and has pretty much developed into JaMarcus Russell's favorite target. However, since he has only one touchdown in 2008, you should view him as a No. 2 Fantasy TE. Keep an eye on his progress throughout the week, but he'll likely play against the Chargers.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (groin) remained limited in practice Monday as the team prepares for Week 14 against the Chargers. He played with the same injury in Week 13 and caught five passes for 79 yards.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a team-high five catches for 79 yards during a Week 13 loss to the Chiefs. He was targeted 12 times in the game and his longest catch went 28 yards. Miller was held without a touchdown for the eighth straight game.
Analysis: Miller has managed 40 or more yards for four straight games and has pretty much developed into JaMarcus Russell's favorite target. However, since he has only one touchdown in 2008, view Miller as a No. 2 Fantasy TE. He might be worth starting Week 14 against the Chargers since San Diego has had trouble stopping tight ends. Miller had five catches for 95 yards and one touchdown against San Diego in his first matchup this season.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (groin) is active and expected to start Week 13 vs. Kansas City despite being listed as questionable on the injury report. He took limited practice reps all week.
Analysis: Miller has yet to miss a game this season and even caught three passes Week 12 against Denver. However, he has just one touchdown and has managed more than 10 Fantasy points just once this season. Miller is at best a No. 2 Fantasy TE when healthy.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 13 vs. Kansas City.
Follow his situation up until inactives.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday but is expected to play against the Chiefs in Week 13.
Analysis: Miller has made around three catches per game most of the season and he has just one touchdown all season. He's more of a No. 2 Fantasy TE than a No. 1.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 41 yards in Week 12 at Denver. He was thrown to three times in the game.
Analysis: Miller has made around three catches per game most of the season and he has just one touchdown all season. The Raiders pass offense is very limited and a secondary pass option within it is not a recommended Fantasy option outside of the deepest of leagues. The Raiders host the Chargers in Week 13.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught four passes for 67 yards in a Week 11 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Miller has been picking up some decent yardage totals for TE recently, except for a nine-yard outing in Week 9, but he hasn't caught a touchdown in the last six contests. He remains only a emergency option best left for deeper formats in Week 12 at Denver.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 42 yards Week 10 against the Panthers and now has fewer than 50 yards receiving in three of his last five games.
Analysis: Miller seemed like an emerging Fantasy option when he had 95 yards on five catches in Week 4, but he has become inconsistent as the entire Raiders offense has struggled. Think of him as more of a No. 2 Fantasy option Week 11 at Miami.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller made two catches for nine yards in a Week 9 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: The Raiders played one of the worst games in NFL history on Sunday and Miller paid the price. His value really lies as a No. 2 TE option or low-end bye-week replacement option heading into Week 10 vs. Carolina.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught two passes in Week 8 at Baltimore. One went for 31 yards and the other went for 25. He was targeted five times in the game.
Analysis: Miller isn't a game-breaking TE, but he has been putting up consistently decent numbers for someone at his position. Continue to think of him as a low-end No. 1 option for Week 9 vs. Atlanta.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught four passes for 57 yards in a Week 7 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Miller isn't a game-breaking TE, but he has been putting up consistently decent numbers for someone at his position. Continue to think of him as a low-end No. 1 option at the Ravens in Week 8.
News: Things were bad for Oakland in Week 6 against the Saints offensively. Tight end Zach Miller led the team in receiving with three catches for 46 yards.
Analysis: Consider Miller a low-end starting option in most leagues, though he is worth owning on the chance he becomes a regular outlet for QB JaMarcus Russell. The Raiders host the Jets in Week 7 and Miller is worth starting in most Fantasy leagues as Oakland's best receiving option.
News: Might Raiders TE Zach Miller be a key figure in the team's offense in Week 6 when Oakland plays at New Orleans? Last week, Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe had a quality outing with a touchdown against the Saints, and the Saints are coming off a bye week. The Raiders' offense spent the bye week reinventing itself as new play caller Greg Knapp took over. The club is expected to throw a bit more starting this week.
Analysis: The Saints rank 27th vs. the pass and are giving up an average of 244.6 yards per game with seven passing scores allowed. With no other Raiders players making a dent statistically, Miller's window of opportunity to be a Fantasy asset is open. Consider him a low-end starting option in most leagues, though he is worth owning on the chance he becomes a regular outlet for QB JaMarcus Russell.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller totaled a career-high 95 yards on five catches during a Week 4 loss against the Chargers. Miller, who was targeted eight times, hauled in a 63-yard touchdown on a catch-and-run. Two of his career five touchdowns have come against the Chargers.
Analysis: Miller had a career-high eight catches in a game against San Diego last season and totaled 101 yards in two outings. He seems to find the gaps against San Diego and QB JaMarcus Russell gets him the ball against San Diego. The two are developing a good rapport and Miller might end up being a sleeper start Week 6 against the Saints, after the Raiders come off their bye Week 5.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller didn't record a single stat despite starting at Buffalo in Week 3. He was targeted twice by QB JaMarcus Russell.
Analysis: Miller has 58 yards on six catches on the season. He's usable as a bye-week replacement tight end, but his lack of consistent play has put him out of favor with Fantasy owners. Keep him off of rosters unless you need him to supplant your starter who might be on bye. The Raiders host the Chargers in Week 4.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught both the passes thrown his way Week 2 against the Chiefs and totaled 24 yards. Miller has six catches for 58 yards through the first two games.
Analysis: Miller has been one of JaMarcus Russell's favorite targets through the first two games and that's normal for a new starting QB to lean on his tight end for help. However, Miller is not going to post major stats until Russell, who went 6-for-17 Week 2, starts getting more comfortable. Miller is at best a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 3 against the Bills.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a team-high four catches for 34 yards during a Week 1 loss to the Broncos. He failed to catch just two of the six passes thrown his way by QB JaMarcus Russell. His longest reception went for 21 yards.
Analysis: Miller was a pass-catching wonder during his days at Arizona State and the Raiders hope he develops into a nice option for Russell. He still has some work to do, but there is potential with Miller. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 2 against the Chiefs. Miller had eight catches for 86 yards in two games against Kansas City last season.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught two balls for 16 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Miller might be a nice red-zone target for JaMarcus Russell this season, but he's still not expected to take the leap to the top-12 Fantasy TE tier. He's a No. 2 option worth a late-round pick in deeper drafts.
News:Raiders TE Zach Miller caught the only touchdown from starting QB JaMarcus Russell during Friday's preseason game against the Titans. Russell scrambled to the left away from All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to Miller past Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck at the start of the second quarter for a 7-0 lead. Russell said he had fun, especially with a reliable target like Miller. "As long as I put it in his vicinity, he's going to catch it," Russell said.
Analysis: Miller finished the game with a game-high four catches for 48 yards. He also had a 22-yard reception in the game. Miller finished his rookie season with an eight-catch, 84-yard performance against the Chargers and displayed the type of potential he brings to the table. We like Miller as a solid receiving tight end, but the Raiders like him better for his versatility. He might be a nice red-zone target for Russell this season, but he's still not expected to take the leap to the top-12 Fantasy TE tier. He's a No. 2 option worth a late-round pick in deeper drafts.
News:Zach Miller not only proved to be a steady downfield threat, setting a franchise record for rookie tight ends, but the second-year player also developed into Oakland's best blocking tight end. That he didn't put up better numbers was a result of the Raiders needing to capitalize on his blocking, a predicament Miller finds himself in once again as Oakland transitions to the Russell era. Miller caught 44 passes for 444 yards and three touchdowns in 2007, tops among all NFL rookie tight ends. "If we had been a different team last year with the ability to pass protect better I think he would have had 60, 65 catches," coach Lane Kiffin said. "But we kept him in so many times in pass protection to help protect with our tackles that he wasn't able to get out as much as we'd like him to. It's just unfortunate for Zach as far as numbers go because of that situation."
Analysis: We like Miller as a solid receiving tight end, but the Raiders like him better for his versatility. He might be a nice red-zone target for JaMarcus Russell to target this season, but he's still not expected to take the leap to the top-12 Fantasy TE tier. He's a No. 2 option worth a late-round pick in deeper drafts.
News: Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller played well in 2007. He finished the year with 44 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: Despite having three different QBs throwing him the ball -- Daunte Culpepper, Josh McCown and JaMarcus Russell -- Miller put up decent stats for a rookie tight end. Look for him to continue improving in 2008 with Russell as the full-time starter. He should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy tight end to start the year with the chance to see his value rise.
News: Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller capped off a nice rookie season Sunday with his best performance as an NFL player. Miller, out of Arizona State, caught eight passes for 84 yards to lead all receivers in Oakland's 30-17 loss to the Chargers in Week 17.
Analysis: Despite having three different QBs throwing him the ball and blocking for three different RBs in his rookie season, Miller lived up to his second-round pick in 2007 with a decent campaign for even a seasoned TE. If JaMarcus Russell can continue to use him as a reliable WR in 2008, Miller will be a very intriguing pick in many drafts.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 27 yards including JaMarcus Russell's first NFL touchdown pass at Jacksonville in Week 16. Miller led the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Analysis: Despite the score, Miller isn't productive enough to warrant use in Fantasy play. Keep him benched in Week 17 when the Raiders host the Chargers.
News: For the second straight game, Raiders TE Zach Miller caught only one pass Week 15 against the Colts. This time, it went for 12 yards.
Analysis: Miller, a rookie, put together four straight weeks with at least 30 yards receiving earlier this season, showing he has some potential for the future. For now, though, we'd recommend reserving him in Fantasy. The Raiders visit the Jaguars in Week 16.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had one catch for 8 yards Sunday at Green Bay.
Analysis: Miller is a low-end TE and should not be used in Fantasy leagues in Week 15 against the Colts.
News: Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller heads to Lambeau Field for the first time in his young career in Week 14 and is coming off a game in which he caught his second NFL touchdown.
Analysis: The Packers pass defense isn't very good, but neither is the Raiders QB situation. Josh McCown did have a nice outing in Week 13 against the Broncos, but Green Bay has a much more aggressive defensive unit and will be looking to put McCown on his back as much as possible. Miller will likely get 2-4 catches for 30-40 yards, but he isn't worth starting in any league except those crazy ones that require two TEs.
News: Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in Oakland's 34-20 win over the Broncos in Week 13.
Analysis: Miller now has two touchdowns in his young career, but doesn't get involved in the Oakland passing game enough to be worthy of Fantasy consideration at the moment. Leave him alone in Week 14 against the Packers.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had four catches for 38 yards with a fumble in Week 12 at Kansas City.
Analysis: Miller doesn't post enough stats to warrant use in standard Fantasy play. Keep him sidelined when he plays in Week 13 vs. Denver.
News: Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller had three catches for 33 yards at Minnesota in Week 11.
Analysis: Miller doesn't post enough stats on a regular basis to warrant use in standard Fantasy play. Keep him sidelined when he plays at Kansas City in Week 12.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught four passes for a team-high 43 yards during a Week 10 loss to the Bears. His longest gain went for 13 yards. The four catches made a career-high for the rookie in which he set Week 7 against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Miller has some long-term potential but isn't a reliable Fantasy option at this time. Consider him nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 11 against the Vikings.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught one pass for three yards during a Week 9 loss to the Texans. The rookie has managed one or fewer catches in three games this season.
Analysis: Miller has some long-term potential but isn't a reliable Fantasy option at this time. Consider him nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 10 against the Bears.
News: TE Zach Miller had two catches for 19 yards in Oakland's Week 8 loss at Tennessee.
Analysis: Miller has some long-term potential but isn't a reliable Fantasy option currently. Don't lean on him when he and the Raiders host the Texans in Week 9.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller made four catches for 48 yards in Week 7 vs. Kansas City.
Analysis: Miller has plenty of upside, but he is only worth a look as a bye-week replacement for now. He's a No. 2 Fantasy tight end and should be used in that role for Week 8 at Tennessee.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught a touchdown pass in Week 6 against the Chargers, but will find little space against a Chiefs pass defense that ranks seventh in the league in yards allowed and has grabbed 19 interceptions in six games.
Analysis: With his difficult match-up, Miller is only worth consideration as an absolute last resort in Week 7.
News: Zach Miller and John Madsen each started in a two tight end set in Week 6 at San Diego. While Madsen had no receptions or offensive stats, Miller finished with three grabs for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Despite the score, Miller is only worth consideration as an absolute last resort in Week 7 against a Chiefs defense which is extremely tough against the pass.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had no catches Sunday against Miami.
Analysis: Oakland only attempted 12 passes Sunday against the Dolphins, and Miller didn't catch any of them. Look for him to bounce back in Week 6 against San Diego following Oakland's bye week.
News: Zach Miller managed just one reception for 13 yards in Week 3 against the Browns.
Analysis: Miller has plenty of upside, but he is only worth a look as a reserve in weekly Fantasy leagues for Week 4 at Miami. He is a good looking keeper prospect in long-term formats, however.
News: Oakland TE Zach Miller started the season with six catches for 41 yards in two games against Denver and Detroit. With Cleveland allowing an NFL-high 10 passing touchdowns, Miller could be in line for his first trip to the end zone.
Analysis: Rookie Miller has been a nice surprise so far and the second-round pick will be drooling to get his chance against the weak Cleveland defense. Consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE this week, but a solid sleeper.
News: Zach Miller was good for three catches for 18 yards in an overtime loss in Week 2 at Denver.
Analysis: The Oakland passing game was expected to be subpar with either a less than 100 percent Josh McCown at quarterback or backup Daunte Culpepper. Miller remains an option in deeper Fantasy formats in Week 3 against a Cleveland defense which allowed 41 points at home in Week 2.
News: Raiders TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 23 yards during a Week 1 loss to the Lions. His longest reception went for 11 yards.
Analysis: Miller had an average rookie debut Week 1. The ceiling is still high for the former Arizona State Sun Devil, but expect some inconsistency as a rookie. He is nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 2 against the Broncos.
News: When the Oakland Raiders open the season next week against Detroit, only one of their first three draft picks will even be in uniform. With top pick JaMarcus Russell still holding out and third-rounder Quentin Moses getting cut, TE Zach Miller is the only one of the top three on the roster. Miller, a second-round pick, is in line to start the season opener Sunday against Detroit after showing good progress during training camps and the preseason. The TEs are expected to play a bigger role in coach Lane Kiffin's offense than they did in the past for the Raiders. Oakland hasn't had a TE catch more than 50 passes in a season since Ethan Horton had 53 in 1991. But with Kiffin emphasizing quicker passes, the tight ends and running backs should be a bigger part of the offense this season.
Analysis: Randal Williams' 28 catches last season led the team's tight ends, but he was released over the summer along with the second-leading receiver at the position, Courtney Anderson. The leading returning TE is second-year player John Madsen, an undrafted free agent who played receiver in college before making the switch in the pros. Miller should be better than all of those players. Miller should be considered with a late-round pick in seasonal Fantasy play as a No. 2 sleeper tight end. In keeper leagues he's worth a middle-round choice.

Miller should be considered with a late-round pick in seasonal Fantasy play as a No. 2 sleeper tight end. In keeper leagues he's still pretty much worth a late-round choice. The Raiders cut veteran Courtney Anderson and that has cleared the way for Miller to inherit the job of Raiders No. 1 TE. Keep an eye on him.
News: The Oakland Tribune reports that Raiders rookie TE Zach Miller made four touchdown catches in practice on Thursday. Two were diving grabs and one was a falling catch in the back of the end zone where he kept his feet in bounds. "He's great," coach Lane Kiffin said. "He's everything we thought, as far as a competitor, the way he works, the way he is in the classroom. He comes out here and rarely ever does he make a mental mistake. You've got to be careful because you're starting to feel like he's not a rookie, he's been here a long time. But we still have to make sure that were going through all the steps we would with another rookie."

News: The Oakland Raiders signed second-round draft pick Zach Miller, leaving No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell as the only player missing from training camp. Miller, a tight end from Arizona State, came to terms with the Raiders late Friday night and was on the field for the team's first two-a-day workouts the following morning. His signing comes two days after Oakland released veteran tight end Courtney Anderson. Terms of Miller's deal were not disclosed.

Coach Lane Kiffin said Thursday that the team was making progress toward signing Russell to a deal but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement before the practice began Friday afternoon. Second-round pick Zach Miller, a tight end out of Arizona State, also missed the opening session of training camp.

News: The Raiders drafted TE Zach Miller with their second-round choice in the 2007 NFL Draft. Miller is a big-bodied tight end who is a good receiving option though he may not be able to separate like the great tight ends can. Regardless, he will push for the starting job in Oakland and wind up being JaMarcus Russell's best friend in the short-area passing game for years to come.
