Miller leads Raiders with 52 yards
|
Updated 11/2/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller led the team with five catches and 52 receiving yards Week 8 at San Diego. He had only two catches for 15 yards last week. | Analysis: Miller had six catches for 139 yards two weeks ago and is one of the few Raiders players who can make an impact in Fantasy. He's more like a No. 2 Fantasy TE than a No. 1 since the Raiders have such a poor passing attack, but if you get in a pinch, you could do a lot worse than him off the waiver wire. The Raiders have a bye in Week 9 before hosting the Chiefs in Week 10. |
Raiders list inactives for Week 8

| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: The Raiders' list of inactives for Week 8 at San Diego includes LB Ricky Brown, WR Chaz Schilens, TE Tony Stewart, WR Nick Miller and QB Charlie Frye. | Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers. |
Miller has major letdown Week 7
|
Updated 10/25/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller had a big letdown in Week 7 against the Jets after a standout performance in Week 6 against the Eagles. Miller, who totaled 139 receiving yards in Week 6, managed just two catches for 15 yards against New York. Miller was targeted just three times in the game. | Analysis: It didn't help Miller's cause that starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell was benched in the second quarter for poor performance. Miller is Russell's favorite target and that usually makes him one of the most productive Raiders' receivers. Russell is going to be back under center in Week 8 against the Chargers and that's good news for Miller, who has a great history against San Diego. Consider starting Miller in Week 8. He has 19 catches for 255 yards and one touchdown in his last three games against San Diego. |
Z. Miller goes 86 yards for score

| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who had six receptions for 96 yards in the opener, topped that performance Week 6 against the Eagles. He scored on an 86-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter and finished with six catches for 139 yards. | Analysis: Miller is the only reliable receiving threat the Raiders have, which still isn't that exciting in Fantasy since the Raiders often have trouble topping 100 yards passing. He can suffice as a No. 1 TE in Fantasy if you drew the short stick at the position, but he's more like a No. 2 because of his inconsistency. The Raiders host the Jets in Week 7. |
Miller decent against N.Y. Giants
|
Updated 10/11/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller led all Raiders receivers in Week 5 at the Giants with four catches for 69 yards. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report with a concussion. | Analysis: Miller clearly was not suffering any lingering effects of the concussion and was the only receiver who got open for the Raiders all afternoon. He was able to find some seams up the middle of the Giants' aggressive pass defense and was really the only productive Fantasy option on the Raiders (aside from Michael Bush, who scored a touchdown). Miller has had two productive games this season and both have come against aggressive defenses (San Diego and New York). Perhaps he could be in line for similar production in Week 6 against Philadelphia and could be worth starting as a low-end No. 1 tight end. He's a decent bye week or injury-replacement option. |
Miller listed as active vs. Giants
|
Updated 10/11/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller was listed as active for Week 5 at the N.Y. Giants. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report with a concussion. | Analysis: The NFL takes concussions very seriously, so if Miller has been cleared to play it is because he is not feeling any after effects. We consider him a No. 2 TE option for Fantasy purposes this week. |
Raiders expect Miller to be 'full-go'
|
Updated 10/8/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller (concussion) was limited in practice Thursday, but coach Tom Cable said he's "much improved and should be full-go" on Friday. | Analysis: Miller still has to be cleared for contact. He would be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option if he's able to play and he'd likely be able to give it a go if he can practice Friday. |
Miller not able to practice
|
Updated 10/7/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders starting TE Zach Miller, who suffered a concussion Sunday against Houston, didn't practice Wednesday. Tony Stewart, a nine-year veteran, is the backup and would start in Miller's place in Week 5 at the Giants. | Analysis: Keep an eye on Miller's health heading into the Giants game. He would be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option if he's able to play. Stewart should not be used in any leagues if he starts for the injured Miller. |
Miller suffers concussion in Week 4
|
Updated 10/4/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Chiefs TE Zach Miller caught three passes for 33 yards in Week 4 at Houston. He was thrown to six times in the game. Raiders coach Tom Cable said after the game that he suffered a concussion. | Analysis: Miller's mediocre numbers were actually just one yard off the team lead in receptions on an afternoon when JaMarcus Russell threw for just 128 yards. He has had one good game this season, in Week 1 against San Diego when he finished with six catches for 96 yards. That was also Russell's most productive game. As a result of the team's erratic pass offense, Miller's numbers suffer. Until that changes, we don't view him as anything more than a No. 2 option. Expect him to be a question mark to play in Week 5 at the Giants due to the concussion. |
Miller facing Texans pass defense
|
Updated 10/2/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller will face a non-division opponent in Week 4 at Houston. The Texans have allowed three passing touchdowns in three games, allowing 231.7 net passing yards per contest. | Analysis: The Texans pass defense has allowed four catches to two different tight ends this season and did allow Dustin Keller of the Jets to total 94 yards receiving in Week 1. However, they have not allowed a passing touchdown to a tight end and Miller's prospects of turning in a good game without a score are weak. We don't recommend him outside of leagues that require starting two tight ends. |
Z. Miller gets only two catches

| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who got shut out Week 2 against the Chiefs, had only two receptions for 17 yards Week 3 against the Broncos. | Analysis: Miller had six catches for 96 yards in Week 1, but the Raiders' passing game has looked awful since then. He's a good player, but if the quarterback can't get him the ball, it doesn't matter. He's just a No. 2 Fantasy option Week 4 at Houston. |
Miller coming off dormant Week 2
|
Updated 9/26/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Oakland TE Zach Miller caught six passes for 96 yards Week 1 against the Chargers but did not catch a single pass Week 2 at Kansas City. Heading into Week 3's game at home against Denver, he should be somewhere in between based on last season's games against the Broncos. In two games last season, Miller caught seven passes for 75 yards and no scores against Denver. | Analysis: Miller averaged 3.5 catches per game last season against Denver and we think he'll be right around that on Sunday for minimal yardage. He could, of course, break free or find the end zone but against a Denver secondary that has yet to allow a receiving touchdown this season, that seems unlikely. Treat Miller as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 3. |
Miller goes without catch

Updated 9/20/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who torched the Chargers in Week 1 with six catches for 96 yards, had no catches in Week 2 at Kansas City. | Analysis: Miller struggled as did all the Raiders in the passing game with QB JaMarcus Russell's poor play (7 of 24 passing, 109 yards). Look for Miller to play better in Week 3 against Denver. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE. |
Z. Miller could thrive vs. Chiefs
|
Updated 9/18/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller, who opened his 2009 campaign with a nice 96-yard effort against the Chargers, will take on the Chiefs in Week 2. Kansas City allowed Ravens TE Todd Heap to go for 74 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. | Analysis: Miller is a nice emerging talent at the TE positio and is a solid sleeper option in all leagues at the moment. Feel free to start him as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE against the Chiefs. |
Miller four yards shy of 100
|
Updated 9/15/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller proved to be Oakland's most productive option in the passing game during a Week 1 loss to the Chargers. He led the team with six catches for 96 yards. Miller caught every pass thrown his way, with his longest reception going for 30 yards. Only one of his catches went for less than 11 yards. | Analysis: Miller has become QB JaMarcus Russell's favorite target the last two seasons and it's not hard to see why. Miller is a sure-handed tight end that can stretch the field. The Raiders' passing game is still nothing to clamor about, but Miller is going to get his catches and could be a No. 1 Fantasy TE by season's end. The Raiders play the Chiefs in Week 2. Miller had seven catches for 103 yards in two games against the Chiefs last season. |
TE Miller comes alive for Raiders

| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller is emerging as his team's best receiving option after coming down with five passes for 74 yards vs. the Saints. He has 90 yards this preseason on eight receptions, second best through three preseason games. | Analysis: Miller is the most reliable option for QB JaMarcus Russell, and we can't help but think he'll lean on him a lot this season considering the poor receivers on Oakland's roster. Think of Miller as a top-end No. 2 Fantasy TE with the potential to be a really good option in PPR leagues. Best of all, you can get him late since he's fairly under the radar while with the Raiders. |
Miller hopes to improve
|
Updated 8/6/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: Raiders TE Zach Miller is getting fewer passes thrown his way than usual, but he said Thursday that's "definitely a good thing" because it means QB JaMarcus Russell is gaining trust in his young wide receivers. "If we have wideouts that (the other team) is scared of or has to pay attention to, that only opens me up more," said Miller, who caught 100 passes in his first two seasons. | Analysis: Miller has proven to be a good bye-week replacement for Fantasy owners, but he has the chance to be a starting option if he could score more touchdowns. He only has four touchdowns, which is why he should still be considered a No. 2 TE again coming into the year. If he starts out playing well, add him off the waiver wire. |
Raiders counting on Miller

Updated 7/22/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: The Contra Costa Times reports Raiders TE Zach Miller, who had sports hernia surgery in the offseason, appears to have recovered nicely and should be full-go for training camp. With 56 receptions for 778 yards and a respectable 13.9 yards per catch average, Miller became the first Raiders TE since Ethan Horton in 1991 to catch 50 or more passes in a season. The Raiders would like Miller to become more of a threat in the red zone. Of Miller's 100 receptions in two years, only four have been four touchdowns, with just one last season. The report says Miller will remain JaMarcus Russell's most reliable receiver. | Analysis: The last part of that report is accurate, especially with Oakland's receiving corps this year. There's some potential there, but Miller is the best of the bunch. We like Miller as a strong No. 2 Fantasy option with the chance to be a starter if he can increase his touchdown total. He's worth a late-round pick in standard leagues. |
Miller ready for training camp

Updated 6/19/2009 |
| Zach Miller, TE OAK | |
| News: The Contra Costa Times reports Raiders TE Zach Miller should be fine for training camp. The report says: "Don't worry about Zach Miller. Miller had sports hernia surgery in the offseason, but when he returned, he looked as good and as sure-handed as ever. He should catch 60-plus passes this season." | Analysis: This is a good sign, and we want to see Miller at 100 percent for training camp. He should be drafted as a No. 2 Fantasy option, but he has the chance to be a No. 1 TE this year. Take him with a late-round pick as long as he's healthy. |

| News: The Press Democrat reports Raiders TE Zach Miller (hernia) returned to OTA workouts on Wednesday. Miller had the hernia operation in May. | Analysis: This sounds like a good sign for Miller to be ready for the start of training camp. Miller should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy TE, and he's worth a late-round pick in all leagues. |
