| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The Saints have added rookie quarterback Chase Daniel to the team's practice squad. The Saints also announced Sunday the team signed seven other players to the practice squad, including two 2008 draft choices - wide receiver Adrian Arrington and defensive tackle DeMario Pressley. The other players signed to the Saints' practice squad on Sunday include running back P.J. Hill, guard Tim Duckworth, wide receiver Matt Simon, cornerback Danny Gorrer and tackle Jermey Parnell. | Analysis: Daniel, an undrafted rookie from Missouri, signed with the Washington Redskins in April. But he but was waived Saturday during the Redskins' final preseason cuts. None of these players, including Daniel, have any Fantasy value. |

Arrington finally makes statement

| News: Adrian Arrington announced his long-awaited return to good health with a spectacular, twisting 47-yard catch in the New Orleans Saints' second preseason game last weekend. If he can make it through a second exhibition this Saturday at Oakland, he'll have reached uncharted territory - he appeared in only one preseason game as a rookie in 2008. "He's been so unhealthy," Saints wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson began. "We've just got to see more of him and feel comfortable that he's going to be here all year." He began practicing fully again last week and performed well in the Saints' 38-14 victory over the Texans last Saturday night. He had three catches for 77 yards, with his first two receptions going for 6 and 24 yards. On his third catch, he made a late adjustment on Mark Brunell's deep pass to let a defender slide by him, then jumped while twisting to face the ball for a long gain to the Houston 2-yard line. What made the play even more impressive to Johnson was that Arrington was roughed up and thrown to the ground by a defender on the previous play. "He has no conscience, so he didn't feel anything," Johnson said. "He just got up and made another play." | Analysis: In the Saints' 2008 preseason opener, Arrington had two catches for 46 yards, including a 33-yarder, and recovered a teammates' fumble to sustain an eventual scoring drive. Yet, he came away from the game with a dislocated big left toe. The injury required surgery and sidelined Arrington for his entire rookie season. The good news for him was that the Saints placed him on injured reserve, meaning they had no interest in getting rid of him any time soon. "From what I saw last year in training camp, he would have been one of the guys to line up for us (during the regular season) if he was healthy," Johnson said, noting that Arrington's chance likely would have come while Marques Colston and then-Saints receiver David Patten were out with injuries. "I've seen him make catches in traffic, catches down field, short catches," Johnson added. "He has no fear." Arrington has definitely shown flashes but until that translates into regular season success he should be avoided in Fantasy. |

Arrington (hammy) on PUP list
|
Updated 7/31/2009 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: Saints head coach Sean Payton said Thursday that WR Adrian Arrington is still on his way back from a hamstring tear suffered in June. After missing all of last season with a toe injury, Payton recognizes that Arrington is dying to get on the field, but adds that he doesn't believe Arrington could pass a physical right now. "His hamstring has gotten better, but it's not yet 100 percent, so we'll take him day by day and won't put him out there in full team drills until we feel like we're confident that it's ready to go without the threat of another injury." | Analysis: Arrington has a little upside after showing flashes in practice, but he's buried on the Saints' depth chart. Even if he was healthy, he wouldn't be worth owning in Fantasy play right now. |
Arrington still limited

| News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints WR Adrian Arrington, who has been hampered by a hamstring injury suffered during OTAs, was limited during practice Friday. | Analysis: Arrington is a reserve WR for the Saints. He has minimal Fantasy value and should not be drafted in any leagues. |
Arrington placed on injured reserve
|
Updated 8/29/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The New Orleans Saints placed seventh-round draft choice Adrian Arrington on injured reserve Friday. Arrington, a receiver from Michigan, had impressed coaches throughout the spring and summer, but severely sprained his toe during New Orleans' opening preseason game at Arizona. | Analysis: Arrington hadn't played since and coaches were uncertain how long it would take for him to recover enough to compete for playing time on a team already deep in receiving talent. The move means Arrington won't play this season. He has no Fantasy appeal. |
Arrington still out Thursday
|
Updated 8/29/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: New Orleans rookie WR Adrian Arrington missed Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins and could end up on the Saints' injured reserve or the practice squad. If it came to that, Arrington said, he'd rather be on the practice squad with a hope of playing this season but would understand if the Saints chose injured reserve to avoid the risk of another team claiming him off waivers. | Analysis: Continue to ignore Arrington in seasonal leagues until further notice. In rookie-only drafts, Arrington is worth a late-round pick since it looks like the Saints want to hold on to him. |
Arrington's rookie season cut short?

| News: Seventh-round draft pick WR Adrian Arrington drew solid reviews from coaches early in camp, but severely sprained his big left toe during the preseason opener at Arizona and has missed valuable practice and playing time since. He won't play Saturday and may miss the last preseason game against Miami on Aug. 28, which may force the Saints to either place him on injured reserve or the practice squad, head coach Sean Payton said. If it came to that, Arrington said, he'd rather be on the practice squad with a hope of playing this season but would understand if the Saints chose injured reserve to avoid the risk of another team claiming him off waivers. | Analysis: Continue to ignore Arrington in seasonal leagues until further notice. Arrington frustrated with toe
|
Updated 8/14/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: Saints rookie WR Adrian Arrington sounded discouraged Wednesday about the toe injury he sustained during the Saints' preseason opener against Arizona and continues to wear a boot one week later, reports the Sun Herald. The team's seventh-round pick said he tore a muscle underneath the big toenail in his left foot and missed both practices against the Houston Texans on Wednesday. Arrington made a couple of nice catches against the Cardinals and impressed Saints coach Sean Payton on more than one occasion this offseason. Yet it might be the last time Arrington will make it on the field until the team cuts the roster to 53 players. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound receiver hopes to be back by the final preseason game when the Saints play Miami in the Louisiana Superdome on Aug. 28. If that doesn't happen, Arrington said he's not sure if he's done enough to make the roster without more playing time. | Analysis: Continue to ignore Arrington in seasonal leagues until further notice. In rookie-only drafts, Arrington could be worth a late-round pick if he makes the final roster. |
Rookie Arrington has serious injury
|
Updated 8/10/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: Saints rookie Adrian Arrington missed his second straight practice with a sprained toe Sunday and coach Sean Payton said the injury may be serious enough to sideline the former Michigan wide receiver for more than a week. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Arrington had been making a strong case for a roster spot since his selection in the seventh round of the draft. He had two catches for 46 yards, including a 33-yarder, during the Saints' 24-10 preseason victory at Arizona last Thursday. However, Payton said he injured the toe during the game. "It's pretty significant," Payton said. "It will be at least a week." | Analysis: Arrington entered the draft following his junior season at Michigan, his only year as a starter. He had 67 catches for 882 yards and eight touchdowns. Now is not a good time for Arrington to miss practice, but Payton said the young receiver has been impressive enough to warrant another look when he returns. "Even in the minicamps, he had done a lot of things that encouraged us," Payton said. "I like the prospect. He's big and he's smart and he knows what we're doing. The key is just getting healthy and that's tough." Continue to ignore Arrington in seasonal leagues until further notice. |
Saints sign rookie Arrington
|
Updated 7/18/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms with two of their 2008 draft choices, reaching deals with sixth-round pick kicker Taylor Mehlhaff and seventh-round selection WR Adrian Arrington on three-year contracts. The team's final draft pick in 2007, Arrington was selected by the Saints in the seventh round with the 237th overall selection, a choice acquired via a trade with the Green Bay Packers for a 2009 sixth-round pick. The 6-3, 192-pound receiver played 35 career games for the University of Michigan, catching 109 passes for 1,438 yards (13.2 avg.) and 16 touchdowns. | Analysis: The Saints like Arrington and are hopeful he can make an impact like fellow seventh-round teammate Marques Colston. Look for Arrington to make the team, but if he earns playing time it might be minimal. Don't plan on drafting Arrington in most seasonal leagues, but in rookie-only drafts he can be a late-round pick. |
Moore, Henderson could get cut
|
Updated 6/16/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports 2007 training camp stars Lance Moore and Devery Henderson may need to have another blistering month of practice starting in late July if they hope to make the roster. Moore is known more for his versatility than anything else. He was serviceable at wide receiver last season and lacked a spark in the return game. Saints coach Sean Payton altered his tune a couple of weeks ago by saying he'd consider keeping a roster spot open primarily for a returner. That gives Skyler Green more of a chance than originally thought and will put pressure on Moore. You might say Terrance Copper could be in the same danger as Moore, but Copper's play on the return teams could give him an edge. Henderson's speed is evident. His lack of hands is evident as well. With Robert Meachem and seventh-round pick Adrian Arrington on his tail, Henderson's future is in danger after only receiving a one-year contract in March to stay in New Orleans. | Analysis: The Saints have plenty of bodies at receiver but need someone to step up opposite Marques Colston. Right now, Meachem is the leading candidate to start, but someone from the group of Moore, Henderson, Copper and Arrington could get cut. Keep an eye on what happens. |
Arrington tries to make team
|
Updated 5/27/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints WR Adrian Arrington is playing well. Though it's far too early to tell if he'll be able to grasp the Saints' offense and perform with any consistency, he certainly passes the eyeball test. Arrington looks like a prototypical receiver with his 6-foot-3, 192-pound build. He's a fluid runner and appears to be a natural pass-catcher. Saints Coach Sean Payton praised him after the rookie minicamp this month. It's not outlandish to make early comparisons to Marques Colston, and not just because both were seventh-round picks. The Saints have their top five receivers back from last season -- Colston, David Patten, Devery Henderson, Lance Moore and Terrance Copper. And typically, teams keep five receivers on the active roster. The Saints made an exception for Robert Meachem last year, keeping six receivers because they didn't want to risk losing their first-round draft pick. | Analysis: Henderson is in the most jeopardy after four inconsistent years in New Orleans. Moore and Copper, meanwhile, bring added value on special teams -- which is key for the fourth and fifth receivers on any NFL team if they want to be active on game day. Henderson, Meachem and Arrington have little or no experience playing special teams. Arrington, meanwhile, is worth drafting in rookie formats. In seasonal leagues, he should be ignored. |
Saints draft DB Porter
|
Updated 4/28/2008 |
| Adrian Arrington, WR NO | |
| News: The Saints drafted DB Tracy Porter from Indiana in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. They also drafted DL DeMario Pressley from North Carolina State in the fifth round, kicker Taylor Mehlhaff from Wisconsin in the sixth round and WR Adrian Arrington from Michigan in the seventh round. | Analysis: Porter has a chance to play right away with the Saints needed help at cornerback, which gives Porter decent Fantasy value in IDP leagues. Pressley should not be drafted in any formats, Mehlhaff will compete with Martin Gramatica for the starting kicker spot and Arrington should not be drafted in any Fantasy leagues. |
