Jamarca Sanford placed on IR by Minnesota

(8/30/2014) An ankle injury has landed Vikings strong safety Jamarca Sanford on injured reserve.

Sanford started 13 games last season and has been a key contributor since arriving in Minnesota five years ago. He racked up a career-high 58 tackles in 2013.

(12/8/2013) Vikings linebacker Larry Dean (knee), safety Jamarca Sanford (ankle), defensive end Jared Allen (finger), running back Matt Asiata (shoulder), defensive tackle Fred Evans (knee), defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (illness), linebacker Chad Greenway (wrist), defensive Everson Griffen (toe) and safety Andrew Sendejo (toe) were all cleared to play Week 14 at Baltimore. Dean and Sanford were the only two players not listed as probable.

Dean is dealing with a knee injury, but was able to take part in limited practice Friday. Sanford has an ankle injury, and was able to practice in full Friday.

(11/15/2013) Vikings CB Chris Cook, FB Jerome Felton, LB Chad Greenway, LB Erin Henderson, OT Charlie Johnson, OT Phil Loadholt and S Jamarca Sanford are probable Week 11 against the Seahawks.

All but Johnson were able to fully participate in practice Friday. Johnson was a limited participant Friday.

(11/7/2013) The Minnesota Vikings had five players on the roster ruled out for Thursday's Week 10 game against Washington when Wednesday's official injury report came out. All five players are among the Vikings' inactives for the Week 10 game.

Those players are as follows: Running back Matt Asiata (shoulder); defensive backs Chris Cook (hip) and Jamarca Sanford (groin); defensive lineman Fred Evans (knee); and tight end Kyle Rudolph (foot).

(11/3/2013) The Minnesota Vikings ruled out five players for Sunday's Week 9 game at Dallas on Friday's official injury report. They were all listed among Sunday's inactive players for the Vikings.

The Vikings will be without defensive back Jamarca Sanford (groin), running back Matt Asiata (shoulder), cornerback Chris Cook (hip), tight end Rhett Ellison (ankle) and defensive tackle Fred Evans (knee) for the game.

(10/28/2013) Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Monday cornerback Chris Cook and safety Jamarca Sanford are day to day leading up to Week 9 at Dallas. Cook suffered a hip muscle strain and Sanford a groin strain Week 8 against the Packers.

Defensive end Jared Allen (ankle), defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (back), linebacker Chad Greenway (wrist), cornerback A.J. Jefferson (ankle), defensive tackle Kevin Williams (knee) and offensive tackle Matt Kalil (back) were probable.

Also active are safety Jamarca Sanford (ankle) and defensive tackle Fred Evans (knee), who were questionable.

(10/25/2013) The Vikings injury report is heavy with defensive players in Week 8, however the majority are expected to play through their various injuries Sunday against the Packers.

Defensive back Jamarca Sanford (ankle) and defensive lineman Fred Evans (knee) are both questionable for the game, and are the only players among seven not considered probable. The probable players are: defensive linemen Kevin Williams (knee), Sharrif Floyd (back) and Jared Allen (ankle); defensive back A.J. Jefferson (ankle); and linebacker Chad Greenway (wrist).
