News: The Arizona Republic reports Saturday that the Cardinals will release wide receiver Early Doucet, in order to save $1.7 million on their salary cap. Doucet finished last season with just 207 yards on 28 catches.
Analysis: Doucet's role with the Cardinals was diminished last season, mostly because of the play at quarterback. He will not hit free agency looking to land with another club, so we'll keep an eye on his status moving forward. Doucet showed some flashes of productivity in 2011 when he caught 54 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns, but should be ignored in the majority of Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
News: On a day when Cardinals quarterbacks completed only 11 passes for 70 yards, Early Doucet led the receiving corps with five catches for 28 yards. It was the most catches he had recorded in a game all season.
Analysis: What an odd time for Doucet to step up his production. The Cardinals made a change at quarterback in the second quarter, replacing the ineffective John Skelton with rookie Ryan Lindley, but if anything, the Cardinals offense only got worse as a result. Perhaps Lindley's reliance on short passes played to Doucet's strengths, but even if that's the case, the rewards are limited with Doucet. You should probably just leave him on the waiver wire in Fantasy.
News: Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet was not much of a factor in Week 8 against the 49ers. He caught two passes for 21 yards in the 24-3 loss. Doucet was targeted four times by quarterback John Skelton.
Analysis: After a career campaign a year ago, Doucet has disappointed so far this season and is not much of an option in Fantasy. Continue to ignore him in the majority of formats at this point.
News: Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet caught three passes for 19 yards in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Vikings. He was also used out of the backfield on a handful of plays, gaining nine yards on two carries. Doucet finished fourth on the team with six targets.
Analysis: Doucet caught some passes in traffic, so he wasn't given a huge chance to succeed, but John Skelton did seem to look to him fairly often. Of course, he looked to tight end Rob Housler a little more often, so Doucet is really just a fourth option in the offense, behind Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts, and Housler. If injury strikes one of the receivers, Doucet may be a decent sleeper option in deeper leagues. For now, though, he is best left to the waiver wire.
News: Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet was not much of a factor in Week 4 against the Dolphins. Doucet hauled in a season-high four receptions for 31 yards in the 24-21 win but was unable to get in the end zone. He was targeted four times by Kevin Kolb.
Analysis: Doucet saw his most action of the season Sunday, but that was because the Cardinals were in all-out pass mode. The 26-year-old is currently buried on the depth chart behind Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts and Michael Floyd, which is going to make it tough for him to get his numbers most weeks. Fantasy owners should continue to leave Doucet on the waiver wire at this point in the season. Arizona will be at St. Louis in Week 5.
News: For the second straight game, Cardinals wide receiver had three receptions Week 2 at New England, this time for 21 yards. Last week, he had three catches for 37 yards against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Doucet isn't at the top of the depth chart for the Cardinals, who have a hard enough time sustaining top dog Larry Fitzgerald as it is. Doucet's chances of making a relevant contribution in Fantasy will be few and far between, so you can leave him on waivers.
News: Notre Dame wideout Michael Floyd was the top pick of the Arizona Cardinals, 13th overall, in the 2012 NFL Draft. He will likely start ahead of Andre Roberts and Early Doucet this year.
Analysis: Doucet played well for the Cardinals in 2011. Doucet played in all 16 games for Arizona last season, catching 54 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns. His numbers were the best of his career across the board. Still, Floyd presents much more upside, and Doucet will now lose value. He should only be drafted with a late-round pick in deeper leagues.
News: The Cardinals announced Tuesday that they agreed to a two-year deal with wide receiver Early Doucet. Doucet played in all 16 games for Arizona last season, catching 54 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns. His numbers were the best of his career across the board.
Analysis: Doucet may have experienced his best season in the NFL last year, but in terms of Fantasy value he still has some work to do. To his credit, the quarterback situation was a mess in Arizona, so it was difficult to get all the receivers on the same page with the signal caller. But expectations are low for Doucet; consider him off waivers during the season as a one-week replacement option.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet was not much of a factor in Week 17 against the Seahawks. Doucet finished with just one reception for 7 yards in the contest, and was unable to find the end zone. He was targeted three times by John Skelton in the 23-20 loss.
Analysis: Doucet jumped all over most Fantasy owners radar after his 105-yard performance in Week 1, but turned out to be a very streaky option. While he did turn in his best overall season as a pro, he really fell off at the end of the year, racking up just 11 receptions for 164 yards over his last five games. However, hopefully the Cardinals won't need to use three different QBs next season and Doucet will be able to settle into Arizona's No. 2 receiving option. However, owners should consider him merely a low-end option heading into 2012.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet collected two catches for 47 yards during the Cardinals' 23-16 loss to Cincinnati in Week 16. Doucet, who was targeted six times by QB John Skelton, had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. He got behind the defense on a fourth-down play, but tripped at the goal line and fell as the pass fall incomplete. "I kind of hooked my feet up," Doucet said. "It's a play I should've made. You can't fall down, no matter what. No excuse will justify the fact that I fell. It was a play we needed to win the game."
Analysis: Doucet was relatively quiet again as Skelton struggled to maneuver around the Bengals defense and was picked off three times. He also took a backseat to WR Andre Roberts, who finished with six receptions for 75 yards. Doucet, meanwhile, has been held to less than four catches in five consecutive games and has just one touchdown in that span. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 17 against Seattle.
News: After a subpar performance in his last game, Arizona WR Early Doucet will be seeking a rebound in Week 16 at Cincinnati. Doucet managed just 37 yards, including a long catch of 20 yards, on three receptions during the Cardinals win over Cleveland last Sunday. It was the third time in his past four games he was held under 40 yards. The Bengals enter Saturday's game allowing 214.4 passing yards per game this season.
Analysis: Doucet is clearly Arizona's secondary receiver as QB John Skelton looks to get the ball in WR Larry Fitzgerald's hands whenever he can, including near the end zone. Doucet, meanwhile, has just one touchdown catch over his past five games as his scoring chances have dipped. Cincinnati is permitting an average of 19.7 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this season. Consider Doucet a possible a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR or possible flex option for Week 16 as his opportunities could again be limited.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet was targeted nine times in Week 15 versus Cleveland, but he managed to haul in just three passes. Doucet had trouble holding on to the ball on Sunday but that didn't stop QB John Skelton from looking his way. Doucet managed to gain 37 yards off his three catches. The Cardinals would win the game, 20-17, in overtime.
Analysis: Doucet is a very streaky wide receiver and it makes starting him on a week-to-week basis a crap shoot. In Week 16 the Cardinals face the Bengals, a team that has been allowing 214 passing yards per contest. Cincinnati has allowed 18 touchdowns through the air in 14 games. Fantasy owners should not be starting Doucet at this stage of the season as he's a low-end WR option.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet is coming off a good game against the 49ers, but in Week 15 Arizona faces a team very tough against the pass. Cleveland boasts the second-best pass defense in the league allowing 180.7 passing yards per game. The Browns have given up just 13 passing touchdowns as well, which averages out to one per contest. They also allow a league-low 13.62 Fantasy points per game to opposing team's receivers.
Analysis: Doucet has gone over 70 receiving yards in a game four times this year for the Cards. He's also only scored in back-to-back games once this season and that was the final two weeks of October. With John Skelton likely leading the team this Sunday, the best numbers to look at is the four games Skelton started for the Cards back in November. In those outings Doucet had 15 receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown. All things considered, Fantasy owners should not consider Doucet a viable WR option for Week 15 because of his matchup and inconsistencies.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet was able to haul in fifth receiving touchdown of the season in Week 14 against the 49ers. Doucet was on the receiving end of a 60-yard touchdown pass from John Skelton in the second quarter, which gave Arizona a 7-6 lead. Doucet finished with three receptions for 73 yards in the 21-19 victory and averaged 24.3 yards per reception. He was targeted four times by Skelton in the win.
Analysis: After putting up a zero last week against the Cowboys, Doucet was able to deliver a bounce-back performance on Sunday. The 26-year-old showed off his speed on his long touchdown catch and continues to build on what has been a career season for him in Arizona. However, with Kevin Kolb knocked out of the game with a head injury, it remains uncertain who will be taking snaps under center next week. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on who will be throwing Doucet passes in Week 15 against the Browns. Despite his solid game on Sunday, Doucet's overall production has been very inconsistent this season, making it tough to start him most weeks. With the playoffs now here in most leagues, owners should consider him merely a No. 4 Fantasy WR next Sunday vs. Cleveland.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet will be looking to get himself back on track in Week 14 against the 49ers. Doucet, who has hauled in 45 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns thus far, finished with two receptions, while failing to gain a yard in last week's win over the Cowboys. San Francisco enters Sunday's contest ranked 16th in pass defense, allowing 232 yards per game. The 49ers have surrendered 15 touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 20.2 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season.
Analysis: Doucet has racked up a combined three receptions for 14 yards over his last two contests, which isn't going to help out many Fantasy owners. The 26-year-old's production has been very inconsistent this season, making it tough to gauge his value on a weekly basis. It also seems Andre Roberts' recent production may also have something to do with Doucet's recent cold streak, although he has turned in more than a few stinkers thus far. While his ability to stretch the field makes him an intriguing Fantasy option, owners are probably best seeking a more reliable alternative heading into Week 14. With the playoffs now here in most leagues, consider Doucet merely a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR against the 49ers.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet continues his inconsistent production. He was targeted six times in Week 13, catching two passes. Unfortunately he did not gain any yards on those catches. The Cardinals would go on to win the game, 19-13, in overtime.
Analysis: Doucet was outplayed by Andre Roberts, who went over the century mark versus the Cowboys. Even with Kevin Kolb back under center, Doucet couldn't perform for the Cards. Before Kolb got injured Doucet hauled in 359 yards and scored three touchdowns from his quarterback. It may take them some time to get on the same page, but Arizona has a tough matchup in Week 14 -- the 49ers. In the first meeting with San Fran this year Doucet caught six passes for 50 yards. Fantasy owners should consider Doucet a flex option at best based on the matchup and re-emergence of Roberts in the offense.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet has 15 catches over his last four games. He had just one score in those games as he continues to find consistency. In his defense, the past four outings QB Kevin Kolb has been sidelined. With Kolb under center Doucet has hauled in 359 yards and scored three touchdowns. Kolb may return in Week 13 versus the Cowboys, which could give Doucet's numbers a boost.
Analysis: The Cowboys have given up 15 passing touchdowns so far this season and are allowing an average of 230 passing yards per contest. That comes out to 19.27 Fantasy points Dallas is giving up to opposing team's receivers per game. Dallas has allowed Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Marshall to top 100 yards receiving each with a touchdown in the last two games, and Doucet has the kind of ability to play with those guys. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on the quarterback situation in Arizona moving forward and consider Doucet a low-end No. 4 WR for Week 13 against Dallas.

In his defense, the past four outings QB Kevin Kolb has been sidelined. With Kolb under center Doucet has hauled in 359 yards and scored three touchdowns. Kolb may return in Week 13 versus the Cowboys, which could give Doucet's numbers a boost.

News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet was extremely limited on Sunday in the Week 12 win at St. Louis. With John Skelton throwing the passes, Doucet only managed to come down with one catch for 14 yards in the performance. He was targeted just the one time in the game.
Analysis: Doucet had at least two catches in every other game this season and was coming off a six-catch, 50-yard performance Week 11 at San Francisco. The Cardinals head home to play the Cowboys Week 13 and Dallas' secondary has been lacking in recent weeks. With the run defense improving, it has been the Dallas pass defense that has been getting burned by opposing offenses. Dallas has allowed Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Marshall to top 100 yards receiving each with a touchdown in the last two games, and Doucet has the kind of ability to play with those guys. Arizona's offense is in shambles, but the team should get QB Kevin Kolb back against Dallas. That bodes well for Doucet, who should be considered a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy WR against the Cowboys in the Week 13 game.
News: Arizona receiver Early Doucet, who expects to be fined for his antics in the Week 11 loss at San Francisco in which he caught six passes for 50 yards without scoring, heads into Week 12 at St. Louis with a jumbled QB situation. Kevin Kolb is still a question mark to start, and John Skelton was awful against the Niners, having to be replaced by Richard Bartel due to ineffectiveness. Doucet still managed six catches, however, so Skelton does have the ability to get him the ball. Doucet had one of his better games on the season against the Rams in Week 9 in Arizona. Doucet caught six passes in that game as well for 78 yards.
Analysis: Doucet has four receiving touchdowns on the season for Arizona, and three of them have come since the beginning of Week 7. He's definitely the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Larry Fitzgerald. Despite the QB situation, the Cardinals should be able to throw the ball against the Rams. The Rams are allowing the fourth-most Fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. They have allowed 14 WR touchdowns on the year and that bodes well for Doucet. Consider the receiver a No. 3 Fantasy option for Week 12.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet had six catches for 50 yards in the Cardinals 23-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 11. He was nearly ejected in the fourth quarter, as he was involved in an altercation with 49ers DB Dashon Goldson that ended with Goldson ejected. He took a cheap shot at me. The refs didnt throw the flag. Then I just lost my cool and then went after him and then we had a little scuffle, Doucet said after. Doucet had to be restrained by WR Larry Fitzgerald, and admitted that he expects to be fined.
Analysis: Doucet has clearly emerged as the Cardinals No. 2 WR, receiving a team high 10 targets in Week 11. He had touchdowns in three of his last four games before the 49ers shut him out. The Cardinals benched QB John Skelton in the fourth quarter of the game, and their QB situation remains a significant hurdle to recommending Doucet as a Fantasy option. Consider him no more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 12 at St. Louis.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet has cemented his spot as the No. 2 receiver on the depth chart for the Cardinals this season, establishing career highs in catches, yards, and touchdowns. And while his yardage totals haven't been anything to write home recently, he has become a red zone target for Arizona QBs John Skelton and Kevin Kolb, bringing in three touchdowns in his last four games.
Analysis: There was once a time when being the No. 2 receiver in Arizona meant you were a top-shelf Fantasy WR, but that was back when Kurt Warner, was leading the charge. Fantasy owners know Skelton and Kolb aren't on Kurt Warner's level, and that has limited all Cardinals receivers' opportunities to succeed. While his Week 11 opponent, San Francisco, has allowed the 10th most points to Fantasy WRs, Doucet has only been targeted 21 times in the last four weeks, so the limited opportunities and inconsistent QB play leave him as nothing more than a high-end No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet recorded two catches for 24 yards and a touchdown during the Cardinals 21-17 win over Philadelphia in Week 10. Doucet, who did not have a reception in the entire first half, hauled in a 5-yard pass from QB John Skelton in the fourth quarter to give Arizona the final edge. He did not register his first catch until late in the third quarter as he finished with only four targets from Skelton.
Analysis: Doucet was quiet for the majority of Sunday's game as he was unable to build on his strong performance last week when he had six receptions for 78 yards in a win over St. Louis. He was not expected to duplicate that showing against Philadelphia, but he now has four touchdown catches this season. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end WR option for Week 11 at San Francisco.
News: Through eight games this season, Arizona WR Early Doucet has already established a career high with 34 receptions and three touchdowns. That catch total eclipsed his previous mark of 26 set during the 2010 campaign as he has become an entrusted option in the passing game. Doucet has been able to generate most of his offense in key situations as 16 of his receptions have come on third down, second most in the NFL.
Analysis: Injuries have plagued Doucet during his four-year career, but hes come on strong this season and quieted talk of the Cardinals' need for a secondary option on the other side of WR Larry Fitzgerald. Entering Week 10 at Philadelphia, Doucet is just four catches shy of Fitzgerald for the team lead. Doucet notched six receptions in Week 9 against St. Louis, but could struggle against the Eagles' premier secondary. Philadelphia is also yielding an average of 18.2 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Consider Doucet a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet caught all six passes thrown his way in Week 9 against St. Louis. Backup QB John Skelton looked Doucet's way often as he gained a team-high 78 yards receiving in the Cardinals 19-13 win. Doucet's long catch of 27 yards came when a Rams defender fell down on the play.
Analysis: Doucet continues to post career numbers in 2011 for the Cardinals. He has 34 receptions on the season for 437 yards and three touchdowns. He had scored in two straight games for Arizona, but that streak ended in Week 9. The Cardinals take on the Eagles next Sunday, a team that entered Week 9 allowing 212.3 passing yards per contest. It seems Doucet is becoming a solid compliment to Larry Fitzgerald for Arizona. As he continues to post good numbers, Fantasy owners should consider Doucet a No. 4 WR or flex option next weekend.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet's 28 catches so far this season is a new career best for him and he'll look to add to that total in Week 9 against the Rams. In 2010, Doucet had three catches for 41 yards against St. Louis. This season the Rams have given up 14 scoring strikes through the air and are allowing 226.6 passing yards per contest this season. Opposing team's receivers are tallying 26.29 Fantasy points per contest, in standard CBSSports.com scoring formats.
Analysis: Doucet has scored in two straight games for the Cardinals. This Sunday Kevin Kolb (toe) may not start, which isn't good news for Doucet. He's starting to build a nice rapport with his quarterback, but needs him on the field to succeed. Fantasy owners should consider him a No. 4 WR or flex option for Week 9.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet had two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals 30-27 loss to Baltimore in Week 8 on Sunday. Doucet, who was considered questionable for the game because of a quadriceps injury, registered a team-high six targets from QB Kevin Kolb. It was the second game in a row Doucet finished with a touchdown as he hauled in a 10-yard pass from Kolb in the second quarter.
Analysis: Doucet was able to reach the end zone again Sunday and establish a career high for catches in a single season at 28. Surprisingly, he now has more touchdown catches than star WR Larry Fitzgerald (two) with three as the receiving corps has struggled developing chemistry with Kolb. Doucet is still too inconsistent to trust on a weekly basis and should only be viewed as a bye-week replacement in Week 9 against St. Louis.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet is active for Week 8 against Baltimore after being limited by a quadriceps injury in practice this past week. Doucet was listed as questionable on the team's injury report after practicing in full for only one day on Friday.
Analysis: Doucet is tied with star WR Larry Fitzgerald for the team lead in touchdowns among wide receivers with two. He reached the end zone against Pittsburgh in Week 7, but could have a tough time duplicating the feat against the swarming Ravens defense. Consider him merely a bye-week replacement for Week 8.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet (quadriceps) is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Week 8 at Baltimore. Doucet was a full participant in Friday's practice after being limited earlier in the week with the sudden injury. He has not missed any playing time this season while serving as a compliment to star WR Larry Fitzgerald. Doucet is second in the NFL with 14 catches on third down and has 26 receptions overall.
Analysis: It's interesting that Doucet showed up as questionable despite returning to practice Thursday. Fantasy owners should track his progress early Sunday morning as he could be a surprise inactive. Doucet recorded a touchdown in Week 7 against Pittsburgh and has been the team's second-best receiver behind Fitzgerald. The Ravens are yielding an average of 19 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this year. Consider Doucet a possible bye-week replacement for Sunday's game if he is able to play.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (quadriceps) returned to limited practice reps Thursday after sitting out Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 8 at Baltimore.
Analysis: It seems Doucet just needed a day to rest. If anything changes with his status, then we will let you know. Doucet recorded a touchdown in Week 7 and has been the team's second-best receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald. However, Doucet is just a desperation Fantasy start for Week 8 if he plays.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet did not practice Wednesday because of a quadriceps injury. The Cardinals play the Ravens in Week 8.
Analysis: There was no injury reported after Week 7, so perhaps this is just soreness and a day for Doucet to rest. However, it's worth keeping tabs on his progress just in case this injury does keep him sidelined. Doucet recorded a touchdown in Week 7 and has been the team's second-best receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald. However, Doucet is just a desperation Fantasy start for Week 8 if he plays.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet finished with five receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown during the Cardinals' 32-20 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 7 on Sunday. Doucet hauled in one of two touchdown passes thrown by QB Kevin Kolb as he connected on a 2-yard strike late in the fourth quarter. It was Doucet's first touchdown catch since Week 1 against Carolina, which represent Arizona's only win of the season.
Analysis: Other than Larry Fitzgerald, the Cardinals receivers have been maligned this season as Kolb continues to struggle with the offense. Doucet has played primarily out of the slot and now has 21 catches for 309 yards this season. His 30-yard total against the Steelers was his fewest output since Week 2 as he managed a lowly 6.0 yards per catch. Consider him a possible bye-week replacement in Week 8 against Baltimore's tough defense.
News: When teams turn their attention to star WR Larry Fitzgerald, QB Kevin Kolb has options, primarily WR Early Doucet. The fourth-year wideout is second in the NFL with 13 catches on third down. He is also coming off one of his finest performances of the year when he racked up a eight catches for 92 yards against Minnesota. You cant just put all your focus on him, said Pittsburgh DB Ryan Clark, whose team faces the Cardinals in Week 7.
Analysis: Doucet's output in Week 5 came after he was limited by a hamstring injury. Arizona's is coming off its bye week so any lingering issues may be alleviated as he seeks to top 100 receiving yards for the first time since the season opener. Doucet also received a 16 targets against the Vikings, though Fantasy owners shouldn't expect that total in Week 7. Consider Doucet a possible flex option or bye-week replacement at wide receiver.
News: Cardinals receiver Early Doucet led the way for Arizona and QB Kevin Kolb on Sunday of Week 5 in a loss at Minnesota. Doucet led the Cardinals with 16 targets as Larry Fitzgerald managed just four catches for 66 yards on eight targets from Kolb. Doucet caught eight passes for a game-high 92 yards in the contest. Doucet did not score a touchdown, however, in the 34-10 loss.
Analysis: Doucet started the season big with a touchdown and 100 yards against Carolina. He's been a casualty of a poor passing game since as Kolb has been unable to get any kind of consistent passing game going. Doucet certainly still seems to be the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Larry Fitzgerald. That said, even Fitzgerald has been limited with Kolb throwing the football. Doucet and the Cardinals are on bye in Week 6. They return to face the Steelers Week 7. Doucet will be just a low-end Fantasy option for that game.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (hamstring) is active for the Week 5 game at Minnesota. Doucet has three catches for 17 yards in three games against the Vikings.
Analysis: Doucet hasn't done much since a superb Week 1 performance against the Panthers. He's attempting with each passing week to establish more of a rapport with Kevin Kolb. That said, the Vikings are also allowing plenty of Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. In fact, the Vikings have allowed a receiver to rack up at least 98 receiving yards in three straight games. Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston of the Chiefs combined for 198 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against Minnesota. Still, Doucet is a low-end, bye-week Fantasy replacement.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 5 at Minnesota. Doucet has three catches for 17 yards in three games against Minnesota.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet, who was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring issue but is not expected to miss any time, recorded three catches for 105 yards and a touchdown Week 1 of the season against Carolina. Doucet has 10 catches in the three games since, but has totaled just 112 yards without a touchdown over that span. Heading into Week 5 at Minnesota, Doucet is looking to get back into the end zone. His history against the Vikings does not suggest he'll get one. In three games against Minnesota, Doucet has combined for just three catches for 17 yards and no scores.
Analysis: Doucet has struggled since Week 1 of the season. He's attempting with each passing week to establish more of a rapport with Kevin Kolb, who has struggled in his short time as Arizona QB thus far. For that, Doucet does have Fantasy value in Week 5 as a flex option.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet was targeted six times by Kevin Kolb on Sunday against New York. He caught three passes for 42 yards. He would not find the end zone though as the Cardinals lost the game, 31-27. Doucet averaged 14 yards per grab.
Analysis: Doucet is still building a rapport with Kolb, but the two are getting used to each other. In Week 5 Arizona faces Minnesota a team that has given up six passing touchdowns through four weeks. The Cardinals will continue to look Doucet's way, but Fantasy owners shouldn't view him as anything more than a flex option next week.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet is averaging 17.5 yards per catch this year (10 receptions for 175 yards), but 105 of that came in Week 1. And 70 of those yards came on one play. Still, Doucet is being targeted by his new quarterback, Kevin Kolb, and is building a rapport with him. The Cardinals host the Giants in Week 4, a team that has been allowing 282.3 receiving yards per contest.
Analysis: Doucet has one score on the year for Arizona and New York has let three scores come through the air in the first three weeks of the season. Even though Doucet has been getting some looks, he still has some work to do. The Cardinals will be looking for more out of him in Week 4 and Fantasy owners will continue to monitor him. For now, Doucet is at best a flex option for this Sunday.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet had a solid game against the Seahawks in Week 3, catching five passes for 50 yards. Kevin Kolb targeted him six times in the contest. The Cardinals would lose the game, 10-13.
Analysis: Doucet is trying to step up as the No. 2 receiver in the Cardinals offense, and is making his case. Arizona hosts New York in Week 4, a team that is allowing 282.3 receiving yards per contest. They've allowed just three scores through the air in three weeks. While his stock could rise, Fantasy owners should view Doucet as more of a flex option next Sunday.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet was pretty quiet in Week 2, but is looking to rebound versus the Seahawks this Sunday. In his last meeting against Seattle Doucet caught six passes for 7 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks have given up just one receiving touchdown through the first two weeks this season.
Analysis: Doucet is trying to be a viable option for Kevin Kolb along side Larry Fitzgerald. After posting a career day in Week 1, he caught just two passes last Sunday. There is a good chance Doucet only thrives when Fitzgerald gets double covered, but Fantasy owners can't depend on him on a weekly basis. Continue to view him as more of a flex option heading into Week 3.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet wasn't nearly as involved in the offense in Week 2 as he was in the Week 1 game against Carolina. Facing the Redskins in Washington in Week 2, Doucet was limited to just two catches for 20 yards. He was targeted six times by QB Kevin Kolb, which was third on the team. His long grab went for 14 yards and he did not score.
Analysis: Doucet went over 100 yards in Week 1 and scored with the Panthers blanketing Larry Fitzgerald. With Fitzgerald going off in Week 2 in Washington, this time around Doucet was limited. In fact, Doucet was almost an afterthought by Kolb and the offense. Fantasy owners cannot be depending on Doucet after his first two games. He's proven he's going to be an inconsistent deep-ball threat and that is often one of the most frustrating players in Fantasy. Consider Doucet just a flex option, at best, for Week 3 in Seattle.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet enters Week 2 at Washington coming off a 100-yard effort against the Panthers in Week 1. Doucet caught three passes for 105 yards and scored a touchdown in that game while Larry Fitzgerald did little. That might not be the same situation against the Redskins, which let Hakeem Nicks do his thing but kept the rest of the Giants receivers in check Week 1.
Analysis: It seems like if anyone goes off for the Cardinals in Week 2, it will be Fitzgerald. The Redskins defense does a good job against the passing game and Kevin Kolb won't have nearly as easy a time in Week 2. Consider Doucet only a flex option, at best, for Week 2.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet played well during Week 1 against the Panthers. Doucet finished with three receptions for 105 yards in the 28-21 win, including a 70-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Kolb. He was targeted three times in the contest and averaged 35 yards per reception.
Analysis: With Larry Fitzgerald drawing double coverages all game long, Arizona's other WRs faced man coverage for most of the night. That led to a few more chances for the those other options and Doucet was able to take advantage of a mismatch and use his speed to blaze into the end zone. However, Fitzgerald, Todd Heap and even Beanie Wells are expected to be the focal point of the Cardinals' passing attack, so Doucet may not be able to duplicate this type of success week-in and week-out. Because of that, he should remain benched in the majority of formats heading into Week 2 against the Redskins.
News: The Cardinals have an open depth chart at receiver behind star Larry Fitzgerald, but wide receivers coach John McNulty told the Arizona Repbulic that Andre Roberts and Early Doucet are the early leaders to grab the starting spot opposite Fitzgerald. "I don't know that you always have to say there is the 'one' guy. I think everybody wants that answer; I don't think it's fair to anyone to say it, at least now," McNulty said. "It's still an open competition the next three weeks but those two guys (Roberts and Doucet) have been thrown in there. Andre hasn't done anything to lose it, and Early's done everything to keep pushing him. We'll just decide how we want to use them as the season goes."
Analysis: Roberts is technically ahead of Doucet on the depth chart right now, but it's clearly not set in stone. "Early, we're monitoring a little bit (because of past injuries)," McNulty added. "He hasn't had any problems but we want to be smart with him. He was aggressive the other night (against the Raiders). He got after guys in the run game, the pass game." Doucet hasn't played more than 10 games in his first three seasons due to injury and has been a disappointing NFL player since being drafted out of LSU. But he still has a chance to be a factor in Arizona, so if he stays healthy, then he could emerge as a viable option in the Cardinals' new passing game that features QB Kevin Kolb. Doucet is more of a wait-and-see Fantasy option and can go undrafted in most formats.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet signed his restricted free agent tender, keeping him with the team for another season.
Analysis: Doucet is not expected to be a big part of the Cardinals offense anyway, so Fantasy owners shouldn't consider him.
News: The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals WR Early Doucet is still rehabbing from offseason sports hernia surgery and did not partake in a recent players-only workout that involved several Cardinals players. Doucet claims he's making progress but doesn't want to do too much too soon.
Analysis: Doucet is a restricted free agent this offseason and could end up getting the boot from the Cardinals considering his health and minimal production. Fantasy owners shouldn't spend a draft pick on the former LSU Tiger.
News: The Cardinals placed WR Early Doucet on IR Wednesday with a hip injury.
Analysis: Doucet had one decent game this season when he went for 71 yards and a score against the Seahawks, but he only went over 40 yards one other time. The QB situation in Arizona certainly didn't help Doucet's cause and he will remain barely worth owning heading into 2011 stuck behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston.
News: WR Early Doucet suffered a hip flexor injury Sunday and will be be evaluated this week. He could miss time, coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Whisenhunt added that the injury is not related to the sports hernia Doucet suffered earlier this season.
Analysis: Doucet has grossly disappointed, as has the entire Cardinals receiving corps. He's no longer productive enough to warrant Fantasy use and shouldn't be on rosters.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet made a modest contribution in Week 14 as the Cardinals beat the Broncos, 43-13. He had one carry for 3 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards. He was targeted eight times by rookie QB John Skelton, but had trouble holding onto the ball for the youngster.
Analysis: Doucet's been banged up this season and hasn't contributed much when he is on the field. He has 283 yards on the year and just one touchdown. Those aren't exactly what the Cardinals were hoping for at the beginning of the season. Fantasy owners that drafted him in hopes he'd develop into a solid No. 3 WR have also been disappointed. With a quarterback situation that isn't great and going up against a tough pass defense in Carolina next week, Doucet is not a recommend play in any format. Continue to leave him on waivers.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet led his team in most receiving categories in Week 12 against the 49ers. He caught five passes for 60 yards in the 27-6 loss. Doucet was targeted by QB Derek Anderson a team-high 10 times and had a long reception of 23 yards.
Analysis: Doucet led Arizona in targets, receptions and receiving yards in Week 12 and had his second-most productive game of the year in the defeat. He seemed to be the only wideout Anderson could get the ball to on a consistent basis and has caught 14 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown over his last four games. Doucet, who suffered a concussion in Week 11, hasn't been a big contributor for the Cardinals offense for much of the season but has put together some decent games of late. With St. Louis and their 21st-ranked pass defense up next on the schedule, continue to view Doucet as a low-end Fantasy WR in deeper formats for Week 13.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet has officially been ruled active for Week 12 against the 49ers. Doucet, who suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Chiefs, was cleared by team doctors earlier this week.
Analysis: Doucet hasn't been a big contributor for the Cards' offense for much of the season anyway, and with rookie Andre Roberts coming on strong in Week 11. We do not recommend starting him in Week 12 against the 49ers.
News: WR Early Doucet suffered a concussion after his head hit the turf following one of QB Derek Anderson's many high passes on Sunday at Kansas City. Doucet must pass a series of tests this week to be cleared for Monday night's game vs. the 49ers. He finished with two catches for 13 yards.
Analysis: Doucet hasn't been a big contributor for the Cards' offense for much of the season anyway, and with rookie Andre Roberts coming on strong in Week 11, the team might choose to be cautious with Doucet while giving Roberts a chance to play. Doucet shouldn't be owned in standard Fantasy play.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet went up for a high pass from QB Derek Anderson in Week 11 at Kansas City and got knocked out on a vicious hit. Doucet did not return and finished with two catches for 13 yards.
Analysis: Doucet is the third receiving option in Arizona, but he had a great game in Week 10 with 71 yards and a touchdown. It took him a while to get going this season and Doucet only has value in very deep leagues when healthy. Keep an eye on his status heading into Week 12 vs. San Francisco.
News: For the first time this year, WR Early Doucet scored a touchdown. Doucet was targeted 10 times, catching six passes for a season-high 71 yards and a score. His previous best outing was 39 yards on four catches two games ago.
Analysis: Doucet missed four games this year with a groin injury and has been lackluster since being able to play on a regular basis. While his latest performance is good, he still hasn't stepped up enough as the Cardinals No. 3 receiver. The Cards face the Chiefs in Week 11, a team that has been giving up 232.9 passing yards per game. It is a nice matchup for Doucet, but until he starts doing what he did in Week 10 on a consistent basis, he is not a recommend start in Fantasy leagues.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet produced his best game of the season in Week 8 against Tampa Bay. He was targeted five times, catching four passes for 39 yards. Doucet has missed four games this season with a groin injury and is slowly getting back up to speed. He did take a few big hits on Sunday, but was able to shake them off and keep on playing.
Analysis: Doucet has 109 yards receiving on the year and has eight receptions. The Cardinals were hoping he'd step up this year and become a nice No. 3 receiver for them, just like Steve Breaston was the past few season. Unfortunately injuries have slowed him down and the quarterback situation in Arizona hasn't been too good either. Things are starting to look better, but with the Cardinals facing the Vikings in Week 9, Doucet should remain a low-end option in all leagues.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet has caught two passes in each of the two games he has played in this season. He looks to build on that in Week 8 against the Bucs, whose passing defense ranks seventh in the NFL. Not only does Tampa Bay give up just under 200 yards per game, but they have allowed just two WRs to eclipse the 100-yard mark in six games.
Analysis: Doucet missed four games this season with a groin injury and should slowly get back into a rhythm as each week progresses. The biggest concern for Doucet is the same for the entire Cardinals organization, quarterback. Rookie Max Hall is the starter for now despite recovering from a concussion, after coach Ken Whisenhunt benched opening day starter Derek Anderson. Until the Cardinals find some consistency at the QB position, Doucet should remain a low-end Fantasy value moving forward.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet, active for his first game since the season opener, did some damage against the Seahawks in Week 7. He caught two passes for 33 yards in the 22-10 loss. Doucet, who was targeted eight times in his return, averaged 16.5 yards per reception in the defeat.
Analysis: Doucet hauled in a 29-yard grab in Week 7 but looked a little rusty after missing four consecutive games. He has underachieved since being taking in the third round of the 2008 draft but could be in line for a career year in 2010. He has four catches for 70 yards in two games. He is still too risky to start in most formats but keep an eye on the 24-year-old as he could become a sleeper later on in the year. Leave Doucet on waivers for Week 8 against the Buccaneers.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet was active for Week 7 against the Seahawks, his first game since the season opener. Doucet, who had been out with a groin injury, has two catches on the year for 37 yards.
Analysis: Doucet could be a little rusty in his first game action since Week 1 but should be able to put up some decent numbers with Steven Breaston out for the Cardinals. He is still too risky to start in most formats but keep an eye on the 24-year-old as he could become a sleeper later on in the year.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) was limited in practice again Friday. He has been inactive since Week 2, but could make a return on Sunday at Seattle.
Analysis: Check back on Sunday at about 2:45 p.m ET to see if Doucet is active, but because he's coming off an injury and will be rusty we suggest leaving him benched in the deeper formats he has value in for the time being.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) was limited in practice again Friday. He has been inactive since Week 2, but could make a return on Sunday at Seattle.
Analysis: Check back on Sunday at about 2:45 p.m ET to see if Doucet is active, but because he's coming off an injury and will be rusty we suggest leaving him benched in the deeper formats he has value in for a while.nn
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) was realistic on his anticipated return from injury on Thursday. "You want to go out and play right away, but you want to be smart about it," Doucet said. "You don't want to have a setback." Doucet was limited in practice Thursday. He has been inactive since Week 2. Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said the key in determining the game availability for Doucet will be how his injury reacts to the first couple of days of practice.
Analysis: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said the key in determining the game availability for WRs Steve Breaston (knee) and Early Doucet (groin) will be how their injuries react to the first couple of days of practice.
News: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said the key in determining the game availability for WRs Steve Breaston (knee) and Early Doucet (groin) will be how their injuries react to the first couple of days of practice. Both players were limited on Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 7 at Seattle. Rookie QB Max Hall is eagerly awaiting the return of both players, but he told NFL.com that Breaston's return would especially help "a ton." Its going to be key to quickly get on the same page with those guys getting back, Hall said. Im spending extra time with them, extra film work with them, whatever. It just adds more weapons to the offense.
Analysis: Doucet was expected to miss 3-6 weeks after having surgery and he has been sidelined for five weeks. However, his practice time will determine his Week 7 status. Even with a favorable matchup against the Seahawks, who are allowing opposing WRs to average 24.8 Fantasy points per week, Doucet is a tough start. Not only is he coming off injury, but he has a rookie QB -- Max Hall -- now under center for Arizona. Look to other Fantasy alternatives for Week 7.
News: The status of Cardinals WR Early Doucet (sports hernia) for Week 7 against the Seahawks is still unknown. The original timeline for his return after surgery was three to six weeks.
Analysis: Doucet has been out four weeks with the hernia and his status for Sunday remains up in there. He was originally slated to be the team's No. 3 receiver before getting suffering the injury in Week 1. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status over the next few days to see if he will play on Sunday. He can be left on the waiver wire for now.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet had surgery on his sports hernia Friday and is expected to miss three to six weeks. It was sustained in the preseason and aggravated against the Rams on Sunday; the Cardinals hoped he could make it through the season. "Everything went very well," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Potential replacements in the Cardinals lineup include preseason sensation Stephen Williams and rookie Andre Roberts.
Analysis: Doucet might be out until after the Cardinals' Week 6 bye, which makes him worthless in Fantasy play until then (and that's if he's fully healed). He's a fairly safe cut from rosters for now -- you could always pick him back up in a couple of weeks.
News: The Cardinals announced Thursday that WR Early Doucet will have surgery to repair his sports hernia. The rehab process is normally 3-6 weeks.
Analysis: Doucet hurt himself in a Week 1 win over the Rams, a game in which he was seeing a decent amount of targets from QB Derek Anderson. As the No. 3 receiver in Arizona, Doucet was stuck behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston, so was really only worth stashing away in deeper leagues. Continue to hold onto him if you have IR spots, otherwise dump him for now.
News: The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) has been ruled out of Sundays Week 2 game with the Falcons.
Analysis: Doucet might have a sports hernia, and if that requires surgery he'll be out for a while. Continue to stash the team's No. 3 wide receiver away in deeper Fantasy formats until further details emerge regarding this injury.
News: The Cardinals fear WR Early Doucet suffered a sports hernia in Week 1 against the Rams. He was being evaluated Wednesday. "If that's the case, he'll have it repaired and be out for a couple of weeks," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. The Cardinals travel to play the Falcons in Week 2.
Analysis: Doucet is having a tough time cashing in on a great opportunity. With Anquan Boldin out of the picture, he moves up to third on the depth chart at receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald, who is not 100 percent, and Steve Breaston. The chance for a breakout season is there, but now Doucet is once again being slowed by injury. He is looking questionable for Week 2, so don't put him in your Fantasy plans at this time.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet caught two passes for 37 yards in Week 1 against the Rams but left and and did not return because of a groin injury. He caught a 24-yard pass near the end of the first quarter but did not play in the second half.
Analysis: Doucet was having a nice game before leaving with the injury and was seeing more targets that Steve Breaston, who finished with 132 yards receiving. He has underachieved since the Cardinals selected him in the third round of the 2008 draft but showed on Sunday that he could be in line for a solid season. Fantasy owners should monitor his status over the weekend before making any decisions for Week 2 against the Falcons. When healthy, Doucet is a a sleeper in deeper formats.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet enters Week 1 against the Cardinals as the No. 3 option for Arizona. He has just three receptions for 63 yards in two career games against St. Louis but will be should see a larger role in the passing game with Anquan Boldin gone.
Analysis: Doucet has underachieved since the Cardinals selected him in the third round of the 2008 draft but he showed considerable improvement from his rookie season to last year. He nearly doubled his production in his sophomore year, catching 17 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown. With a new QB in town, Derek Anderson, and one fewer WR in his way, Doucet could have the breakout year that Fantasy owners have been hoping for. The Rams ranked 25th in the league against the pass a year ago so consider Doucet a sleeper in deeper formats for Week 1.
News: The Cardinals tried for more than a week to trade QB Matt Leinart but apparently received little interest, potentially due to his $2.485 million base salary, so they released him Saturday morning. Unless the Cardinals can sign a veteran, they appear ready to go with rookies Max Hall and John Skelton as the backups to QB Derek Anderson, who will now open the season as the starter. That means the Cardinals top receivers -- Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston and Early Doucet -- will have Anderson now throwing them passes in 2010.
Analysis: Doucet will benefit from the QB switch from Leinart to Anderson, and Doucet has sleeper value for 2010. He's entering his third year, which is typically the season when wide receivers have a breakout year, and we like Doucet with a late-round pick in deep leagues. He should also be considered a sleeper in deeper formats for Week 1 against the Rams.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet shook off an abdominal injury to play in Saturday's preseason win over the Bears. Doucet managed just one catch for two yards.
Analysis: Doucet should enter the season as the third wide receiver for Arizona, rookie Stephen Williams impressed a lot on Saturday and Doucet will need to get off to a good start if he's to keep the Toledo product from stealing too many snaps from him. With an uncertain QB situation, Doucet remains just a low-end Fantasy flier in very deep formats to begin his 2010 campaign.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet (abdomen) did not play in Monday's preseason game against the Titans and the Cardinals' offense struggled in the game. Doucet should return for the third preseason game in Chicago. He caught three balls for 13 yards in the first contest against the Texans.
Analysis: Doucet will need to prove his health against the Bears in the third preseason contest. Entering his third season in the NFL, Doucet could have a big year with Anquan Boldin now in Baltimore. He is likely to be the third wide receiver for the Cardinals behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston but Matt Leinart will need to play better for him to really matter in Fantasy play. Plan on drafting Doucet with a late-round pick in deep leagues.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet (abdomen) is unlikely to play Monday in Tennessee for the second preseason, but he is probable for the third preseason game in Chicago. He appeared in the first preseason game against the Texans, recording three catches for 13 yards. His longest reception went for 7 yards.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Doucet and hope he can get back to 100 percent before the start of the season. He is entering his third year in the NFL and could be on the verge of a breakout since he will now be the No. 3 WR in Arizona behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston. Plan on drafting Doucet with a late-round pick in deep leagues.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet sat out Monday's practice while nursing an abdominal injury. He appeared in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, recording three catches for 13 yards. His longest reception went for 7 yards.
Analysis: With Larry Fitzgerald expected to miss the rest of the preseason with a knee injury, this is a perfect time for Doucet to develop rapport with QB Matt Leinart. With Anquan Boldin in Baltimore, there is definitely receptions to be had in Arizona. Still, we don't expect the passing game to be as productive since Kurt Warner is no longer slinging passes in the desert. Doucet is an intriguing Fantasy sleeper, as he is behind Fitz and Steve Breaston on the depth chart. But don't look to him as more than a late-round Fantasy pick. This injury is not considered serious.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet is attempting to fill the shoes of departed receiver Anquan Boldin. Steve Breaston will take Boldin's spot in the starting lineup, but Doucet is taking over his role as the physical receiver. During Thursday's practice, he caught countless balls over the middle while showing explosion to the ball. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt is impressed with what he's seen so far in training camp from Doucet. "He's lost a little bit of weight so his quickness looks good," Whisenhunt said. "But the thing that really stands out is his strength around the ball when he's trying to get away from the defender."
Analysis: Doucet has been quiet in his first two seasons, catching 31 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown. But he'll be counted on to take a big step this year in Boldin's absence. He won't start, and the Cardinals will likely rely more on the running game than in previous years with Matt Leinart replacing Kurt Warner, which will limit the amount of catches he'll see. Consider him a No. 5 Fantasy WR.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet sat out Saturday morning's practice with an abdominal injury. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the move was just precautionary and that he expected Doucet to return to practice soon. Doucet, a third-year pro out of LSU, has a history of injuries in his first couple of years in the NFL. He missed time as a rookie with a hamstring injury and then battled a groin injury later in the season. Last season, he missed some time with a rib injury.
Analysis: Doucet has only 31 catches for 304 yards and one touchdown in his NFL career, but will top that this season alone with a bigger role in the offense. Anquan Boldin's departure enabled Doucet to move up the depth chart, and while the Cards might not rely on the pass as much with Matt Leinart behind center instead of Kurt Warner, as the team's third receiver Doucet should see plenty of balls come his way. Consider him a No. 5 Fantasy WR.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet has had his first two seasons in the NFL cut short because of injuries, missing 16 games. Heading into his third year, Doucet began an offseason training program before most players started their offseason. "It's just good to be back out here playing football again with my teammates," Doucet told The Arizona Republic. With the trade of Anquan Boldin to Baltimore, Doucet has moved up the depth chart and will start the year as the No. 3 WR. "He came in and he was a guy that had injuries his last year at LSU and he had some injuries here early, and now he's become a very dependable, tough, strong-minded football player, and that's exciting," coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
Analysis: With Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston set to be the starters, Doucet can now move into Breaston's old role where he excelled. Unfortunately Matt Leinart is under center and not Kurt Warner, which takes away a little bit of the receivers Fantasy value. The offense won't likely be as pass-happy and probably rely on the run more. Doucet has potential and is worth a late-round pick on Draft Day.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet could make more of an impact this year with the offseason trade of Anquan Boldin to Baltimore, but Doucet said Wednesday he's not pressing. "My confidence is definitely up compared to the first two years, but I still have the same approach," he said.
Analysis: Doucet will likely be the No. 3 WR for the Cardinals behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston. We expect Doucet to make an impact this year, and he's worth a late-round pick in all Fantasy leagues. Keep one thing in mind: With Matt Leinart under center, the offense might not be as pass-happy as it once was, but Doucet still has plenty of potential.
News: With the Cardinals trading WR Anquan Boldin to the Ravens, all signs point to WR Early Doucet landing the slot role and being the third receiver for the team in 2010. Doucet came on for the Cardinals in the playoffs with Anquan Boldin sidelined and figures into the Cardinals' plans for the upcoming season. "One of the main reasons we really explored [a Boldin trade] was because of the ascension of younger players, like Steve Breaston and Early Doucet," Cardinals GM Rod Graves told NFL.com. "We really felt like those young guys stepped up and that there is still a lot more potential there."
Analysis: Doucet is worth a look as a reserve Fantasy WR in standard formats, but that's about it for now. Keep one thing in mind: With Matt Leinart under center, the offense might not be as pass-happy as it once was. Think late-round pick on Doucet.
News:Kurt Warner has called an end to one of the great storybook careers in NFL history. The 38-year-old quarterback announced his retirement from the game on Friday after 12 years in a league that at first rejected him, then revered him as he came from nowhere to lead the lowly St. Louis Rams to two Super Bowls, winning the first of them. Written off as a has-been, he rose again to lead the long-suffering Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl a year ago. "I'm excited about what's next," Warner said. "Before I was always excited about next season." Warner walked away with a year left on a two-year, $23 million contract, knowing he still had the skills to play at the highest level. With Warner gone, WR Early Doucet will now have a new QB, which is expected to be Matt Leinart.
Analysis: Warner's departure leaves Leinart as the presumed replacement. The former Heisman Trophy winner has started 17 games for Arizona but only one in the last two years. Doucet came on for the Cardinals in the playoffs with Anquan Boldin sidelined, but he has potential to be a decent Fantasy option. Doucet and Leinart will have to develop a rapport, but Doucet should only be considered a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR at best. His value could improve if Leinart does well as Warner's replacement and continues to get Doucet the ball, but we have to see it first. Only take Doucet with a late-round pick in deeper Fantasy leagues in 2010.
News: The Cardinals have listed WR Anquan Boldin as questionable for Saturday's Divisional Playoff Game at New Orleans. Boldin did not play in the Wild Card round against Green Bay with ankle and knee injuries. According to a report on ESPN, the Cardinals are not expecting Boldin to play. The report states that the Cardinals are hopeful that Boldin can play in the NFC Championship Game if they beat the Saints in this round.
Analysis: If Boldin is out against the Saints then Steve Breaston and Early Doucet will step up in his place. Breaston started for Boldin last week and had seven receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown, while Doucet scored two touchdowns against the Packers. Keep Boldin reserved in Fantasy playoff leagues to be safe and hopefully he will be 100 percent soon. When healthy, Boldin is a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: The last time Early Doucet played in the Superdome, he helped lead Louisiana State to the 2007 national title. On Saturday, Doucet will return as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, bent on knocking the New Orleans Saints out of the NFL playoffs. The one-time hero could become a villain. But Doucet isn't thinking that way. "It's not going to be weird, actually," said Doucet, a product of St. Martinville, La. "I'm going to have some good memories. The last time I played there was for a college national championship, and I did real well. So hopefully I can go back there and have a repeat performance and have our team get a victory." Doucet probably could have filled an entire end zone with friends and relatives, but he capped his pass list at 25. If Doucet plays like he did last weekend, his homecoming may be a happy one. With Anquan Boldin sidelined by left ankle and knee injuries, Doucet stepped in and caught six passes for 77 yards, including two touchdowns, as the Cardinals outdueled Green Bay 51-45 in overtime in a wild card game.
Analysis: Doucet didn't catch a TD pass in his first 16 NFL games. He has three in his last three games. "Now you're starting to see the potential," quarterback Kurt Warner said. "You're starting to see the talent. It's always fun to see young guys get an opportunity and then excel with that opportunity," Warner said. "I think I enjoy that as much as anybody because so much of my career was built around that same thing - being that guy that just needed that opportunity, and once I got it was able to make it happen for myself. And I think that's kind of like what Early's done." Doucet can get a chance for another good game against the Saints if Boldin is out, and he will enter 2010 in his third season, which could be a breakout year. Keep an eye on how Doucet finishes the playoffs, but consider him a sleeper heading into next season.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet worked his way up as the team's No. 5 receiver and stepped into the No. 3 role for the Cardinals with the absence of Anquan Boldin (ankle) in a 51-45 win Sunday. Doucet caught six passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Doucet set career highs in yardage, touchdowns, and receptions.
Analysis: This was clearly Doucet's best game as a pro. Depending on Boldin's status for next week, Doucet could be back in the Arizona starting lineup. If he does play, look for him to possibly have similar playoff numbers because the Cardinals will most likely have to score a lot of points to defeat New Orleans next Sunday.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet totaled four catches for 28 yards during a Week 17 loss to the Packers. He was targeted five times. Doucet finished the season with 17 catches for 214 yards and one touchdown.
Analysis: Doucet saw a lot of action in Week 17 after Anquan Boldin left with an injury. But he still didn't post great numbers. Doucet is at best fourth on the Cardinals' receiving depth chart and that isn't expected to change heading into 2010. Leave Doucet out of your Fantasy Draft Day plans.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet caught his first NFL touchdown pass Week 16 in the win over the Rams. He finished with two grabs for 43 yards and the 18-yard TD catch in the 2nd quarter.
Analysis: Doucet recorded his first NFL touchdown catch in the Week 16 game and played well. Despite his biggest yardage total of the season and his first NFL TD, we cant recommend him in Fantasy play for Week 17 against Green Bay.
News: Cardinals RB LaRod Stephens-Howling, WR Early Doucet, TE Anthony Becht, WR Sean Morey and backup QB Matt Leinart all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat for Week 15 at the Lions.
Analysis: Leinart is a decent insurance policy for Kurt Warner's Fantasy owners and Doucet had been earning some playing time over the last few weeks, but the rest of these guys are reserves for the Cardinals and hardly contribute on offense. Continue to keep them reserved in Fantasy.
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet actually led the Cardinals in receiving yards on Monday night during the Week 14 loss at San Francisco. Doucet made just two grabs in the game for a total of 41 yards to lead all Cardinals receivers. His long went for 29 yards.
Analysis: Doucet now has at least one grab in six straight games but zero touchdowns and Monday set his new season high for yardage. That limits his value to that of almost nothing. Dont start him in any Fantasy leagues Week 15 at Detroit.
News: In the Cardinals' Week 13 win at home vs. the Vikings, WR Early Doucet caught a pair of passes for 15 yards.
Analysis: Doucet is still finding playing time on offense but isn't expected to be productive enough to warrant Fantasy use going forward. Keep him on waivers.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet caught one pass for 28 yards Week 12 at Tennessee. He has exactly one catch in each of his last three games.
Analysis: Doucet is too low on the depth chart to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 13 against the Vikings.
News: Two games after having four catches for 31 yards, Cardinals WR Early Doucet had one catch for 20 yards Week 11 at St. Louis. He has just one catch in each of his last two games.
Analysis: Even in that four-catch game, Doucet wasn't a huge part of the offense. Leave him on waivers for Week 12 at Tennessee.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet caught one pass for 8 yards during a Week 10 win against the Seahawks. Doucet was targeted three times. He has five catches in his last two games after getting none in his first seven.
Analysis: Doucet has moved up the depth chart to fourth behind Steve Breaston, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald and you are starting to see that change in his numbers. Still, we don't expect big numbers from the former LSU standout. Doucet has marginal Fantasy appeal until further notice. The Cardinals play the Rams in Week 11.
News: Seeing playing time in place of WR Anquan Boldin, Cardinals WR Early Doucet caught his first four passes of the season for 31 yards at Chicago in Week 9.
Analysis: Doucet isn't expected to consistently see reception totals like this and therefore shouldn't be on Fantasy rosters. The Cardinals host the Seahawks in Week 10.
News: The following players are inactive for the Arizona Cardinals for their Sunday night game at the Giants in Week 7: QB Brian St. Pierre (3rd QB), S Rashad Johnson, LB Reggie Walker, WR Early Doucet, TE Stephen Spach and TE Dominique Byrd.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves or special teams contributors when active. They have little to no Fantasy appeal. Keep them reserved Week 7.
News: The Cardinals' list of inactives for Week 5 against the Texans includes DL Kenny Iwebema, DL Keilen Dykes, WR Early Doucet, TE Dominique Byrd, LB Reggie Walker and QB Brian St. Pierre.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Cardinals have declared the following players inactive for their Week 3 game vs. Indianapolis: QB Brian St. Pierre, DB Matt Ware, WR Early Doucet, LB Reggie Walker, TE Dominique Byrd and DE Kenny Iwebema.
Analysis: None of these players contribute enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them on waivers.
News: The Cardinals' list of inactives for Week 1 against the 49ers includes DB Greg Toler, QB Brian St. Pierre, LB Reggie Walker, WR Early Doucet and TE Dominique Byrd.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them on waivers for Week 2 at Jacksonville.
News: Cards WR Early Doucet (cracked ribs) practiced a bit more on Thursday but isn't likely to play Sunday against the 49ers.
Analysis: Doucet's injury is high on the rib cage, and another hit in the area could result in a punctured lung. Doucet is a long way from making any impact in Fantasy leagues, so he should not be on any rosters.
News:The Arizona Republic reports that Early Doucet suffered fractured ribs in last Friday's game against Green Bay and is likely to miss at least a couple of weeks of action, coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday. "Unfortunately, all of his injuries have been legitimate injuries -- the types of things that just happen," Whisenhunt said.
Analysis: The injury is high on the rib cage, and another hit in the area could result in a punctured lung, the coach said. If the injury were lower, the recovery time would be quicker. Doucet is a long way from making any impact in Fantasy leagues, so he should not be on any rosters.
News: They might have done their work with the second-team offense against the Packers' second-team defense in a preseason game, but they were impressive nonetheless. Reserve receivers Jerheme Urban and Early Doucet were both very effective in the Cardinals' third preseason game. Urban caught six passes for 103 yards while Doucet had five catches for 93 yards with a touchdown. Both of them did their work with backup QB Matt Leinart as the team played from behind.
Analysis: Both receivers should make the Cardinals' final roster, but Urban is the only one worth a glance in Fantasy. If something should happen to Anquan Boldin or Larry Fitzgerald, Urban would see more playing time and be a candidate to post good totals since he's a big body to target and he has good hands. He's only worth a pick late in the deepest of Fantasy leagues. Doucet, meanwhile, is buried even further on the Cardinals' depth chart and might only contribute on special teams.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet, who injured his shoulder earlier this month, played in Arizona's second preseason game Saturday. He caught one pass for four yards in a loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Doucet is competing for the No. 4 receiver spot behind Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston, a job that won't net him many stats anyway. Injuries have been an issue for Doucet since turning pro in 2008. He is a talented receiver, but he is buried on the depth chart and can be ignored in most Fantasy formats.
News: Cardinals reserve wide receiver Early Doucet remains sidelined with a sprained left shoulder, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt thinks he will be back soon. "He was anticipating doing something (Sunday) but it bothered him just a little bit so we were cautious," Whisenhunt said. "I think he'll start working in some individual drills this week. We'll see how it goes. Maybe he'll be ready to go (Saturday against the Chargers) as well."
News: Arizona WR Early Doucet went down with a sprained left shoulder making a spectacular catch during practice at training camp. The injury occurred during the Cardinals' morning session on Monday when Doucet made a diving catch over the middle, then landed hard on the turf. Later in the day it was found out that the injury wasn't as bad as previously thought. Doucet had an MRI that revealed the injury to only be a strain. He expects to return next week.
Analysis: Doucet is competing for the No. 4 receiver spot behind Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston, a job that won't net him many stats anyway. This news shouldn't impact many Fantasy owners since Doucet isn't a popular option to begin with. For the latest from Cardinals camp, check out CBSSports.com's RapidReports.
News: The Arizona Republic reports with Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin skipping all three days of workouts during OTAs in May, the door was opened for second-year WR Early Doucet to get more reps in practices. "I think it definitely helps," Doucet said of Boldin's absence. "As a young player trying to make a name for yourself, you want to take advantage of those opportunities. It's all part of the game, too, because you never know when somebody is going to go down. You've got to be ready to step up whenever that time may be." If the situation with Boldin continues, the Cardinals and Doucet will be better off. In fact, he has shown so much improvement, some coaches and players are suggesting he can have the type of breakout season as teammate Steve Breaston did last year.
Analysis: Doucet had 14 catches for 90 yards and no touchdowns last season. He will battle for the No. 4 spot behind Larry Fitzgerald, Boldin and Breaston, but he could move up if Boldin is traded, which is unlikely. Still, the Cardinals are going to be throwing often as they did last year, which means Doucet could have the chance to make plenty of plays. He is worth a look with a late-round pick in deep leagues.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet had two catches for 11 yards Sunday at New England.
Analysis: Doucet is a low-end Fantasy WR and should not be used in Week 17 against Seattle.
News: Arizona WR Anquan Boldin could be sidelined for Sunday's game at New England. Boldin, named to the Pro Bowl for a third time on Tuesday, has a shoulder injury. He sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said he would take a conservative approach with Boldin. If Boldin can't play, Steve Breaston will move into a starting spot with Jerheme Urban moving to the No. 3 receiver spot. Rookie Early Doucet also could see some playing time at the wide receiver position.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Boldin. The Cardinals are fighting for the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs but this game has little impact on their playoff fate since they already clinced a spot. If Boldin is out, Breaston would be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR, and Urban could be used in deeper formats. Doucet likely won't see enough catches to help your team.
News: Cardinals TE Stephen Spach, RB Tim Castille, WR Early Doucet, TE Leonard Pope and WR Sean Morey did not record an offensive statistic in Week 15 against Minnesota.
Analysis: None of the players listed above have a chance to produce significant Fantasy totals and for that reason should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues until further notice.
News: The Cardinals listed the following players as inactive for Week 12 against the Giants: QB Brian St. Pierre (third QB), WR Early Doucet, TE Leonard Pope, TE Jerame Tuman, LB Clark Haggans and DL Alan Branch.
Analysis: None of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy options. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: Cardinals DL Alan Branch, WR Early Doucet, TE Jerame Tuman, TE Ben Patrick, DL Kenny Iwebema and QB Brian St. Pierre have all been ruled inactive for Week 11 at Seattle.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves for the Cardinals and play a marginal role when active. They have little to no Fantasy value and can be kept out of active lineups in Week 11 and likely for longer.
News: Cardinals QB Brian St. Pierre, CB Eric Green, DT Alan Branch, WR Early Doucet, TE Jerame Tuman and TE Ben Patrick have all been ruled inactive for Week 10 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves for the Cardinals and play a marginal role when active. They have little to no Fantasy value and can be kept out of active lineups in Week 10 and likely for longer.
News: The Arizona Cardinals have listed the inactives for their Week 9 game at St. Louis. Not in uniform will be: QB Brian St. Pierre (third QB), DE Travis LaBoy (groin), DT Alan Branch (coach's decision), WR Early Doucet (groin), TE Leonard Pope (ankle) and TE Ben Patrick (knee).
Analysis: Pope and Patrick have some Fantasy value when healthy, but should both be benched this week. Jeremy Tuman will start in their place. The other guys in this list can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet had one catch for 5 yards Sunday at Carolina.
Analysis: Doucet is the No. 4 WR for the Cardinals and has minimal Fantasy value at this time. Don't plan on using him in Week 9 at St. Louis.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet, a rookie out of Arizona who had six receptions in Week 5, had only one Week 6 against the Cowboys. It went for three yards.
Analysis: Doucet has only played a role on offense because Anquan Boldin has had to sit after suffering a concussion Week 4. With Boldin expected to return soon, Doucet doesn't deserve a claim off the waiver wire. The Cardinals have a bye in Week 7 before visiting the Panthers in Week 8.
News: Cardinals WR Early Doucet, a rookie out of Arizona, made the first six receptions of his career Week 5 against the Bills, going for 42 yards.
Analysis: Doucet only played such a big role on offense because Anquan Boldin was out after suffering a concussion Week 4. Doucet might get to serve as the third receiver for a couple more weeks, but he won't do enough to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 6 against the Cowboys.
News: Cardinals QB Brian St. Pierre, RB J.J. Arrington, WR Early Doucet, TE Jerame Tuman, DL Bertrand Berry and DL Gabe Watson have all been ruled inactive for Week 4 at N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Berry is a decent Fantasy DL when healthy because he can rack up sacks, but the remaining inactive players usually play a marginal role for the Cardinals. It's safe to keep most of these guys reserved Week 4 and likely down the road as well.
News: The Cardinals have announced their inactives for their Week 2 game vs. the Dolphins. Not in uniform will be: third QB Brian St. Pierre (coach's decision), RB J.J. Arrington (coach's decision), DB Oliver Celestin (coach's decision), WR Early Doucet (coach's decision), LB Ali Highsmith (coach's decision), TE Jerame Tuman (hamstring) and DL Gabe Watson (knee).
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value. Continue to ignore them in all formats.
News: Arizona has listed the following players as inactive for Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers: QB Brian St. Pierre, RB J.J. Arrington, TE Jerame Tuman, DL Alan Branch, WR Early Doucet and DL Gabe Watson.
Analysis: St. Pierre is the team's third QB and will mostly be inactive. Arrington is obviously third behind Tim Hightower and Edgerrin James. The rest of these guys aren't even worth mentioning in Fantasy.
News: Cardinals rookie WR Early Doucet recorded his first NFL catch at Oakland in Week 3 of the preseason. It was good for 7 yards.
Analysis: Doucet led the national champion LSU Tigers last year with 57 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns. But Doucet will compete for playing time behind Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston. Consider Doucet a middle-round pick in rookie-only drafts and not worth owning in seasonal Fantasy play.
News:Cardinals rookie wide receiver Early Doucet is expected to get more involved in team practices. Doucet missed a large part of training camp with an injured hamstring. "I think (Doucet will) do a little bit more in practice than he did last week," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "I think he'll be a little bit limited on some of the deep stuff, so we'll have to control his reps a little bit, but hopefully he'll work his way back like Anquan (Boldin) did and he'll be ready to go this week."
Analysis: Doucet led the national champion LSU Tigers last year with 57 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns. He made 22 starts in his college career, finishing with 160 catches and 20 touchdowns. Doucet will compete for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Larry Fitzgerald and Boldin. Consider Doucet a late-round flier in deep leagues and a middle-round pick in rookie-only drafts. The hamstring injury is not considered serious and the Cardinals are just being patient with the rookie.
News: Arizona wide receiver Early Doucet was held out of Saturday's preseason contest against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury.

News:Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said defensive end Darnell Dockett (pectoral) and safety Antrel Rolle (ankle) will both sit out Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs, while rookie wide receiver Early Doucet (hamstring) is doubtful and rookie cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle) remains day to day.
Analysis: Doucet missed the Cardinals' preseason opener against the Saints and it appears as though he will be on the pine another week. Doucet led the national champion LSU Tigers last year with 57 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns. He made 22 starts in his college career, finishing with 160 catches and 20 touchdowns. Doucet will compete for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Consider Doucet a late-round flier in deep leagues and a middle-round pick in rookie-only drafts. News: Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said rookie receiver Early Doucet will miss Thursday's preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints game because of a hamstring injury.

News: The Cardinals have signed third-round draft choice Early Doucet to a three-year deal. The wide receiver led the national champion LSU Tigers last year with 57 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns. He made 22 starts in his college career, finishing with 160 catches and 20 touchdowns. He is Arizona's fifth draft choice to be signed to a contract this year.
Analysis: Doucet will compete for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Consider Doucet a late-round flier in deep leagues and a middle-round pick in rookie-only drafts.
News: The Cardinals drafted WR Early Doucet in the third round of the NFL Draft. Doucet, from LSU, will compete for the No. 3 wide receiver spot with Arizona behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Doucet will have the chance to fill the role by Bryant Johnson, who left for San Francisco.
Analysis: Doucet is a decent sleeper in most Fantasy leagues. If he is the No. 3 option as expected, he could see plenty of passes his way. Consider using a late-round pick on Doucet in seasonal leagues and a middle-round pick on him in keeper formats.
