Falcons SS William Moore uncertain about return to action

(5/18/2015) Falcons strong safety William Moore is hoping to be cleared for at least some activity this offseason after undergoing major shoulder surgery after last year.

"I haven't the slightest idea," Moore told ESPN when asked when he will be given clearance. "We're still rehabbing. We're sore right now from rehab, but my body feels excellent. My weight is great. I'm at 220. I was at 230, 232. With this defense, we're running and hitting. I'm still going to be down in the box. I'm excited about that."

Moore separated his shoulder in Week 4 and was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. He then re-injured it in December, which limited his action to just seven games in 2014.


Falcons safety Williams Moore out for season with shoulder injury

(12/23/2014) The Falcons will be without safety William Moore for the rest of the season with a shoulder injuy and was placed on the injured-reserve.

Safety Sean Baker was promoted from the practice squad to replace Moore.

Moore was only able to play seven games for Atlanta this season while dealing with multiple injuries. He totaled 25 tackles and two forced fumbles for the Falcons.

(12/22/2014) The Falcons were unable to provide updates on injuries suffered by running back Steven Jackson and safety William Moore, the team announced Monday. Both will have further testing done Monday on injuries sustained in Week 16's game against the Saints. 

Moore sustained a shoulder injury Sunday to the same shoulder he injured in Week 4. He did not return to action. Jackson suffered a quad injury in the second quarter and was also unable to return to the game.

The Falcons are hoping to have both ready for Week 17 with the division on the line against the Panthers. Atlanta is a 3 1/2 point favorite, according to Vegas Insider.

(12/22/2014) Falcons safety William Moore will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of his injured shoulder, reports ESPN. Moore separated his shoulder in Week 4 and appear to have aggravated the injury after playing 41 snaps against New Orleans on Sunday.

At this point his status remains uncertain for the regular-season finale against Carolina. Atlanta is currently a 3 1/2-point home favorite against Carolina, according to Vegas Insider. The winner will advance to the postseason.

(12/19/2014) The Falcons have listed three wide receivers on its final injury report for Week 16 against New Orleans. Julio Jones (hip) was the only wideout that failed to practice this week and was deemed questionable. Roddy White (knee) and Harry Douglas (foot) were ruled probable.

Meanwhile, the rest of the injury report included safety William Moore (foot) and guard Jon Asamoah (back) as questionable. Cornerback Josh Wilson (hand) was designated as probable.

(12/15/2014) After leaving Sunday’s game against the Steelers with back stiffness, Falcons coach Mike Smith said guard Jon Asamoah is considered day to day.

Smith also said safety William Moore is still receiving treatment on his injured foot and he’ll be re-evaluated in a few days. Moore was unable to play in Week 15 because of the foot injury.

(12/12/2014) Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (hip) is the most notable player listed as questionable for Week 14 against Pittsburgh. other players deemed questionable were fullback Patrick DiMarco (illness) and safety William Moore (foot).

Guard Jon Asamoah (back), guard Justin Blalock (back), wide receiver Harry Douglas (foot), defensive end Stansly Maponga (elbow), defensive tackle Paul Soliai (shoulder) and wide receiver Roddy White (ankle) were all labeled as probable.

Meanwhile, cornerback Robert Alford (wrist) was the only player on the report ruled out for Sunday.

(12/9/2014) Falcons coach Mike Smith told reporters wideout Julio Jones (hip) and safety William Moore (foot) are sore after leaving Monday's loss at Green Bay with injuries, but Smith is hopeful they'll play Sunday against the Steelers. Smith doesn't expect Jones and Moore to practice much this week.

Smith said he had no specifics on Jones' injury, adding the team will know more in a couple days. Jones hauled in 11 passes for a franchise-record 259 yards against the Packers, catching a touchdown pass for the third straight week.

Moore had been on injured reserve with designation to return since Week 4 with right shoulder separation. He practiced this week and could be cleared to make his debut Week 13 against Arizona.

"He is progressing well," coach Mike Smith said. "We anticipate and are looking forward to getting him back on the field as soon as we can. He should be able to start working here pretty soon."

William Moore gets big strip in Week 1

(9/7/2014) Falcons defensive back William Moore had only a decent performance statistically Week 1 against the Saints, finishing with six tackles, including four solo. But he made arguably the biggest play of the game, stripping the ball away from wide receiver Marques Colston at the start of overtime to put the Falcons in position for a game-winning field goal.

"You've only got two eyes. You can't see behind you," Moore said of the play. "I'm going to continue to work on that and hopefully I can get some more throughout the season."

Moore forced three fumbles last season to go along with 86 tackles and three interceptions.

(12/16/2013) Falcons defensive backs William Moore and Desmond Trufant both recorded interceptions off quarterback Kirk Cousins Week 15 against the Redskins. Moore's came in the third quarter and Trufant's in the fourth.

Moore also recorded a fumble in the game, but Trufant had two more tackles, finishing with seven, three solo. Moore had five, three solo.
