Mayo will miss the rest of the season due to a torn patellar tendon. The club has already filled Mayo's spot on the roster by calling up a player from the practice squad.

Mayo, who registered 37 tackles and a sack as a full-time starter this season, will be out for the rest of the year.

(10/13/2014) The knee injury suffered by Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo in Week 6 against the Bills has turned out to be as serious as it looked. Mayo is expected to miss the remainder of the season after being carted off with a lower right leg injury that multiple sources say "is bad," ESPN's Adam Schefter reports on Monday.

He was on pace for his first 100-plus tackle season since 2012. His season ends with 53 combined tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

(10/13/2014) As expected, the Patriots have ruled linebacker Jerod Mayo and running back Stevan Ridley out for Thursday's game at home against the Jets in Week 7, according to the Boston Globe.

Mayo was carted off with a knee injury, while Ridley departed with an ACL injury in Week 6 at Buffalo. According early reports, both injuries are considered significant, which could leave them out for an extended period of time.

The Patriots will host the Bears in Week 8.

(10/13/2014) NFL.com National Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday it is believed Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo suffered a significant knee injury Week 6 against the Bills, but the team is awaiting further test results to learn the severity of the injury.

On Monday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick kind of echoed the sentiments Mayo could be dealing with a serious injury, per ESPN.

"Keep our fingers crossed for him and see exactly what the situation is. Have to be ready to move on without him," Belichick said.

(5/6/2014) Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo, who's coming back from a torn pectoral muscle, suggested he'll return for training camp in July, reports the Boston Herald. He's been working out at Gillette Stadium for a while.

"I don’t know how it will feel when we start going out there doing different things as far as a little bit of contact drills," Mayo said. "Even though there are no pads, you can still fall a certain way, so I’m just going to take it one day at a time and see how it goes."

Mayo is feeling stronger very day. "But once again, I won’t know until I get out there and start really playing the game of football," he said.
