C.J. Spiller among Bills probables active vs. Raiders

(3:20 pm ET) Bills running back C.J. Spiller (shoulder) is among the team's players listed as probable who are active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Spiller is making his return from injured reserve and will be playing in his first game since Week 7. Also active after being listed as probable are safeties Da'Norris Searcy (hamstring) and Duke Williams (concussion), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (shoulder), defensive end Jarius Wynn (knee), running back Anthony Dixon (chest), wide receiver Marcus Thigpen (foot) and kicker Dan Carpenter (groin).

The Bills are a 6 1/2-point favorite for Sunday's road matchup with the Raiders.

Tampa Bay also waived wide receiver Marcus Thigpen, tight end Ted Bolser and cornerback Quinton Pointer from the practice squad, per the team's official website.

(11/2/2014) Although Buccaneers rookie running back Charles Sims was activated from short-term IR, the team could hold him out of Sunday's game at Cleveland, reports ESPN's Adam Caplan. Instead the Bucs might give running back/receiver Marcus Thigpen some carries behind Bobby Rainey, the report said.

Thigpen just got promoted from the practice squad. Running back Doug Martin (ankle) is not expected to play.

With Doug Martin likely to sit out with an ankle injury, Sims could split some work with Bobby Rainey during his season debut against the Browns. The Bucs also waived wide receiver/kick returner Trindon Holliday, along with promoting wide receiver Marcus Thigpen and defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo from the practice squad.

(8/30/2014) The Dolphins have completed their series of cuts to pare down their roster to the league-mandated 53 heading into the regular season.

The dispatched offensive players are quarterback Seth Lobato, linemen Tony Hills, David Arkin, Sam Brenner and Evan Finkenberg , wideouts Kevin Cone and Matt Hazel, running backs Marcus Thigpen and Daniel Thomas and tight end Evan Wilson .

Among the defensive players let go are linemen Isaako Aaitui, Garrison Smith, Tevin Mims and D'Aundre Reed, linebacker Andrew Wilson and defensive backs Jordan Kovacs and Kevin Fogg. Placekicker Jake Rogers has also been waived.

The Dolphins have also placed defensive tackle on IR and defensive end Dion Jordan and safety Reshad Jones on the reserve/suspended list.

(12/15/2013) Dolphins running back Marcus Thigpen scored his first career touchdown Sunday, and it proved to be the decisive score in a 24-20 win over the Patriots in Week 15.

Thigpen touched the ball just twice in the game, hauling in two passes for 23 yards. His final reception was the big one, as he scored on a 14-yard pass from Ryan Tannehill with just over a minute remaining in the game to put the Dolphins on top.

Thigpen has touched the ball just 13 times on the season, as he has six carries for 18 yards and seven receptions for 86 yards heading into Week 16 agains thte Bills.

(12/1/2013) Little-used reserve Dolphins running backs Mike Gillislee and Marcus Thigpen saw their roles increase in Week 13 against the Jets, with Daniel Thomas sidelined by an ankle injury.

Gillilslee played for the first time in his career Sunday, picking up six carries for 21 yards to finish third on the team. Thigpen received the largest workload of his career with four carries, but rushed for just 10 yards, while adding one reception for 0 yards.

Both players will likely continue to split time behind Lamar Miller moving forward. The Dolphins' next game is set for Week 14 against the Steelers.

(11/12/2013) The Dolphins DST allowed the Buccaneers to run for 140 yards in the Week 10 loss as Tampa Bay controlled the ball nearly 35 minutes. Three Buccaneers' backs found success running right at Miami.

The Dolphins created one turnover, a Jimmy Wilson interception, and got sacks from Dannell Ellerbe and Nolan Carroll. Marcus Thigpen returned a punt 34 yards. But overall it was a disappointing effort.

Miami's DST faces a tougher matchup Week 11 vs. San Diego.

(10/1/2013) Dolphins running back Marcus Thigpen made his first catch of 2013 count. He came out of the backfield in the second quarter Monday and took a Ryan Tannehill pass 50 yards.

Thigpen nearly scored, getting tripped up at the Saints' 7. It was his only catch on two targets. Thigpen returned three kickoffs for 68 yards and had a 5-yard punt return.

He'll play the Ravens in Week 5.

Down 10-0 late in the first quarter, Thigpen returned a kickoff 94 yards back for a touchdown. He became the first player in franchise history to return a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown in a season.
