Roddy White not expected to be limited in camp

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11:34 am ET) Falcons receiver Roddy White, who dealt with a high ankle sprain and hamstring injury last year, isn't sure if he'll be limited at all during the early portion of training camp, reports ESPN.

"I don't know," he said. "I haven't gone over the schedule or anything yet. But probably not, because I didn't do too many OTAs [organized team activities]. We've got to work on timing."

Falcons give Roddy White a contract extension

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2014) The Falcons announced a four-year extension for receiver Roddy White on Thursday. It should keep him with the team for the rest of his career.

White, 32, had a down year in 2013 because he tried to play through a high-ankle sprain. But he finished the season strong with 43 catches for 502 yards and two scores in his last five games. He's expected to keep up that kind of production this season as part of the team's one-two punch at receiver alongside Julio Jones.

Julio Jones, Roddy White aim to be top tandem

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/26/2014) Falcons receiver Julio Jones said when healthy, he and Roddy White are the best receiver tandem in the NFL, reports ESPN.

"When you step on the field, you should feel that you're the best, you and whoever your partner is," Jones said. "I feel like me and Roddy, we're the best when we step on the field. We take it as a challenge every year: We want to go out and show everybody we're the best one-two in the league."

The key for Jones and White is staying on the field. Last season, Jones played in just five games after suffering a season-ending fracture in his right foot while White was hobbled by hamstring and ankle injuries.

"We weren't there to play in the party," White said. "But this year, we're going to be there to play in the party. So at the end of the season, we'll come together, and then we'll see what happens."

Roddy White needs rest, won't participate in minicamp

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(6/17/2014) The Falcons announced wideout Roddy White will be held out of the team's mandatory minicamp this week so he can rest. White, 32, will be back for training camp.

He dealt with ankle and hamstring injuries last season, missing the first two games of his nine-year career and failing to surpass 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2006.

Roddy White arrested Tuesday

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/18/2014) Falcons receiver Roddy White was arrested early Tuesday on a failure to appear warrant, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The report says White, whose full name is Sharod Lamar White, was arrested by Gwinnett County police in Georgia and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail just before 4:30 a.m. He was released about 90 minutes later on $168 bond, according to jail records.

White allegedly failed to appear in court on a traffic charge out of Dacula. The Gwinnett sheriff’s website shows an outstanding warrant for White on a charge of "non-transparent material on windows."

Falcons, Roddy White working on contract extension

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/3/2014) Receiver Roddy White is working on a contract extension with the Falcons, reports the team's website. Atlanta's all-time leading receiver is entering the final year of a six-year deal.

“We’re working to try to get something done,” White said. “They want me to be here, I want to be here, so let’s make it happen.”

White, 32, is the franchise's career leader in catches and receiving yards and ranks third with 55 touchdown catches, two behind Terance Mathis. White is coming off his worst season since 2006 as he was plagued by ankle and hamstring injuries through November. He finished strong, though, catching 43 passes over the final five games.

Roddy White says team needs to help out Matt Ryan

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/2/2014) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White stressed that the team needs to make upgrades to help Matt Ryan.

Ryan was sacked 44 times this season, and was pressured on a league-leading 204 dropbacks. "We’ve got to keep our quarterback clean because he’s not going to make it," White said. Ryan was able to start every game last season, but there was some concern over the number of hits he was taking. The Falcons will pick near the top of the draft, and could opt to take an offensive lineman if there's a worthy one available.

Roddy White wants to play 3-4 more years

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/31/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White, who just finished his ninth season, aims to play three or four more seasons.

"How many more years? I think three or four,’’ White told ESPN.com. "I don’t want to be an ironman like Tony [Gonzalez]. He was blessed to go through his stint in the NFL because 17 seasons is a long time to play football, man. I was thinking if I could just get 10, I’ll be alright.’’

White turned 32 in November. Entering the final year of his contract, White is likely to receive an extension soon. White did almost nothing this season until December, as he played through multiple injuries. Over the final five games, he caught 43 passes for 502 yards and two touchdowns.

Falcons aim to lock up Roddy White

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/30/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White has one year left on his contract. The team hopes to extend him during the offseason.

“Roddy’s made it very clear that he wants to be back here for the duration of his career and he’s obviously been a beyond-fine football player for us,” general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. “So we’re hoping that he will be able to do that.”

Slowed by injuries much of the season, White finished strong, catching 41 passes over the last five games, including two outings with 140-plus yards.

Roddy White has another big game

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/29/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White had a big game Sunday against Carolina in Week 17.

White had eight catches for 91 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets. This is now consecutive games for White with at least eight catches, 90 yards and a touchdown.

White battled ankle and hamstring injuries all season, but he finally got healthy as the year came to a close. Look for him to return at 100 percent in 2014 when he will try to rebound as a 1,000-yard receiver.

This year was his first time since 2006 that he didn't reach 1,000 receiving yards, but he should be able to get back on track in 2014.

Is Roddy White ready to roll in Week 17?

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/26/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White is back to playing at a high level heading into Week 17 against Carolina, but does that mean he's a must-start Fantasy option again? I'm not so optimistic based on the matchup.

It was great to see the White of old last week at San Francisco. He dominated the 49ers with 12 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets. He now has double digits in targets in three of his past four games, and he’s caught at least 10 passes for 140 yards in two of his past four outings.

He missed the first game at Carolina, but the Panthers should be able to contain White this week. Only four receivers have reached double digits in Fantasy points against Carolina this season with five touchdowns allowed. We would still start White as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver this week, but don’t consider him a guaranteed starter based on last week’s performance.

The Panthers have a better secondary than the 49ers, and they will focus on shutting down White in what could be a huge game for their playoff status. We're glad White is back to posting quality stats, but the Panthers defense should make it hard on him to succeed.

Roddy White erupts for 141 receiving yards

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/24/2013) For the second time in four games, Falcons receiver Roddy White went off for 140-plus receiving yards. This time he caught 12 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown in the loss at San Francisco.

The yardage represented his second-highest total this season, and the 12 receptions were his most since November 2010. White produced his 37th career 100-yard game.

White was targeted a team-high 15 times, four more than tight end Tony Gonzalez. In the fourth quarter, White sprinted by two defensive backs and caught a beautiful 39-yard touchdown. White plays Carolina in Week 17.

Roddy White facing unfriendly matchup

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/18/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White failed to truly exploit a great matchup Week 15, catching five passes for 53 yards at home against Washington. Now White travels to San Francisco to face a 49ers defense giving up the 4th-fewest Fantasy points to wideouts.

Receivers average a total of 16.6 Fantasy points vs. the 49ers, with seven touchdowns and three lost fumbles against their hard-hitting secondary. In the last two games, receivers averaged 105 yards as a group against San Francisco.

Despite his disappointing game against the Redskins, White is on a nice three-game run in which he's caught 23 passes for 270 yards. He's drawn 31 targets in that span. Consider White a flex option Monday night.

Roddy White makes impact early

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/15/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was instrumental on the team's opening drive Week 15 against the Redskins, catching three passes for 34 yards to set up a 3-yard touchdown run for running back Steven Jackson. His 19-yard catch early in the drive ended up being the team's longest play of the day.

In all, White had five catches for 53 yards, tying Tony Gonzalez and Harry Douglas for the team lead in targets with seven. He has averaged 7.7 catches for 90.0 yards in his last three games after averaging 2.5 for 26.1 in his previous eight.

White was limited by a knee injury in practice leading up to the game, but it didn't seem to hinder him as much as his high ankle sprain did earlier in the season. The Falcons visit the 49ers in Week 16.

Roddy White's knee won't keep him out

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/15/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who banged up his knee in Week 14 and was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, is active for Week 15 against the Redskins. He was limited in practice all week with the injury.

White missed three games earlier this season with a hamstring injury and has also had to contend with a high ankle sprain, but he's been at his best over the last two weeks, catching 18 passes for 217 yards.

Roddy White questionable Week 15

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/13/2013) Falcons WR Roddy White is questionable Week 15 against Washington.

White is dealing with a knee injury he aggravated during Week 14. He was able to take part in limited practices throughout the week.

Roddy White limited in practice Thursday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/12/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was limited in practice Thursday.

White aggravated his knee injury during Week 14, and has been limited in practice both days this week. He's missed three games this season due to injury.

Knee injury limits Roddy White

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/11/2013) Falcons receiver Roddy White, who's caught 18 passes for 217 yards the past two games, was limited in practice Wednesday by a knee injury, according to the team's website. Atlanta will host Washington on Sunday.

Expect Roddy White to keep rolling

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/11/2013) Limited by a high ankle sprain for most of the season, Falcons wide receiver Roddy White has returned to form over the last two weeks, averaging 9.0 catches for 108.5 yards. Why wouldn't he keep it going Week 15 against Washington?

The Redskins rank 27th against the pass, allowing 256.7 yards per game, and have allowed the 13th-most Fantasy points to wide receivers. And right now, they're in a state of disarray, with unrest at head coach and quarterback. They appeared disinterested in a 45-10 loss against the Chiefs last week while the Falcons appeared motivated in a 22-21 loss at the Packers.

Granted, White still has to compete with Harry Douglas for looks, but as favorable as this matchup appears to be for the Falcons' passing game, quarterback Matt Ryan should be able to sustain both, as he did Week 13 at Buffalo.

Jamey Eisenberg, Dave Richard and Nathan Zegura all rank Roddy White among their top 24 wide receivers for this week, which means he deserves to start in the majority of leagues. And I think he's a safer bet than some of the players they rank ahead of him, including Torrey Smith, Julian Edelman and Pierre Garcon.

Roddy White leads way again

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/8/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who broke out of a season-long funk with a team-leading 10 catches for 143 yards last week, once again led the way with eight catches for 74 yards Week 14 at Green Bay. His 10 targets also led the team.

The closest Falcon in terms of receiving yards was wide receiver Drew Davis, who picked up 36 yards on his touchdown catch in the first quarter. Running back Jacquizz Rodgers and tight end Tony Gonzalez tied for second in receptions with three.

Unlike last week, when he made a handful of acrobatic grabs, White stayed mostly underneath in this one. Only one of his catches went for more than 10 yards, and it was on the final drive, when the team was frantically trying to position itself for a field goal.

The Falcons host the Redskins in Week 15.

An encore in store for Roddy White?

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/4/2013) After being limited by ankle and hamstring injuries all season, Falcons wide receiver Roddy White finally did last week what Fantasy owners had expected him to do all season, catching 10 passes for 143 yards against the Bills. And he did it just in time for one of the more favorable matchups he'll have all season.

The Falcons travel to Green Bay in Week 14, where they'll take on a defense that ranks 22nd against the pass, allowing 250.5 yards per game. The Packers have given up the seventh-most Fantasy points to wide receivers this season. They gave up six catches for 101 yards and a touchdown to Calvin Johnson in Week 13 and eight catches for 110 yards to Victor Cruz in Week 11. They played the Vikings in between, so you wouldn't have expected them to give up big numbers to a wide receiver in that one.

White says his ankle is still less than 100 percent, but he was clearly a different player in Week 13, converting 10 of his 14 targets and making several acrobatic catches. Yes, he'll still have to contend with Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez for looks, but of the three, he has the longest track record with Ryan. At the very least, he's worth a second look as a flex option this week.

Ankle injury still 'bothering' Roddy White

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/2/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who has been plagued by injury all season, is coming off his best game of the season Sunday, totaling 10 catches for 143 yards against the Bills. Though, White admits he is still not 100 percent.

"My ankle is still bothering me, but I'm a football player," White said, per ESPN. "That's what they pay me to do: play football. And that's what I've been doing my whole life. That's all I know how to do. So I'm going to get myself out there and fight with my teammates every week, if I can. If I feel like I can go out there and be productive, I'm going to go out there and help my team win."

White suffered a high-ankle sprain in the preseason and said he hasn't gotten the chance to let the injury heal.

"Nah, I didn't think I was going to be healed by now," White said. "I dealt with this my rookie year. And with these kinds of things, you need a break. You need maybe two months of not doing anything so your body naturally heals itself. Then you feel like you can go 100 percent."

Roddy White has best game of the year Week 13

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White had his best game of the season Week 13 against the Bills.

White caught 10 balls for 143 yards. Both figures represent a season-high for White, who has been limited by injuries throughout the year. White’s previous season-high was four catches and 45 yards in a game against the Jets. Despite receiving one fewer target than Harry Douglas, White did the most with his chances, leading the club in receiving. Matt Ryan only tossed one touchdown, so White was held out of the end zone Week 13.

White will take on the Packers Week 14.

Roddy White looking at strong matchup Week 13

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/27/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is looking at a strong matchup Week 13 against the Bills.

Buffalo has had an awful pass defense this season, allowing wide receivers to score 27.73 Fantasy points per game. Through 11 games, the team has allowed 22 passing touchdowns. They've allowed seven wide receivers to break 100 receiving yards in a game this season. After allowing 11 passing touchdowns from Week 6 to Week 8, the team has settled in as of late, allowing just two passing touchdowns in the last three games.

White may not be the best candidate to take advantage of the Bills poor defense. Injuries have limited White all season. Though he's now healthy, White still hasn't been able to break 50 receiving yards in a single game. Harry Douglas has emerged as a more consistent target for Matt Ryan lately, and he could be the better play against the Bills.

Just two passes come Roddy White's way in Week 12

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/22/2013) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was barely a factor in Week 12, in a 17-13 loss to the Saints Thursday.

White, who was targeted nine times in an otherwise quiet game last week, was hardly featured in the offense this week. He hauled in both passes thrown his way for 24 yards, with a long reception of 13 yards.

Injuries have largely ruined White's season, as he enters Week 13 with 20 catches for 209 yards in eight games. He is on pace for the least productive season of his career.
