Chiefs to sign SS Tyvon Branch to one-year deal

(3/10/2015) The Chiefs have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with string safety Tyvon Branch on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported that the deal could be worth a max of $4 million, with a base salary that incldes in-game bonuses of $2 million.

"We are excited we were able to reach a deal with Tyvon and bring him to Kansas City," general manager John Dorsey said in a statement. "He is a physical player who we feel can help our defense. We're looking forward to having him."

The 28-year-old Branch has played seven seasons in the NFL, totaling 476 tackles, 20 passes defensed and four interceptions in his career. He will now stay in the AFC West, after he was released bu the Raiders last week.

Tyvon Branch to meet with Chiefs after Redskins meeting

(3/6/2015) Free agent safety Tyvon Branch is scheduled to visit the Chiefs in the near future, per CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Branch has visited the Colts and is scheduled to meet with the Redskins before he meets with Kansas City's representatives.

The 28-year-old Branch has played seven seasons in the NFL, totaling 476 tackles, 20 passes defensed and four interceptions in his career.

Indy needs safety help: The team released LaRon Landry three weeks ago, and Mike Adams and Sergio Brown are headed to free agency. Branch can play both safety positions, the report said, but has been limited to five games the past two seasons due to injury.

(2/27/2015) Raiders safety Tyvon Branch will not play for the team in 2015, the 28-year-old said on his Twitter account Thursday. Branch, who spent his first seven seasons in Oakland, only played a total of five games over the last two years while battling injuries.

"It was a blessing to play for the Raiders wearing that shield was special to me," Branch said. "Thanks to the Davis family for giving me a chance."

Branch totaled 476 tackles with eight sacks and four interceptions over his seven years.

(2/26/2015) The Raiders will be parting ways with safety Tyvon Branch, according to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora

Branch only played in three games during the 2014 season due to a foot injury that placed him on injured reserve. That followed his 2013 season in which Branch was only able to participate in two games. 

However, Branch could be a commodity in what is otherwise considered a weak safety market. 

Branch signed a four-year, $26..6 million contract with the Raiders in 2012, with $17.6 million guaranteed.

(9/21/2014) Raiders defensive back Tyvon Branch broke his foot in the second half Week 3 at New England and will be out for an extended period of time. According to ESPN, the injury could even cost him the rest of the season.

Even though he left early, Branch still led the team with 10 tackles, including seven solo, putting him in double digits for the second time in three games. He played in only two games last season, missing much of the year with an ankle injury.

(8/16/2014) Raiders safety Tyvon Branch suffered an ankle injury during Friday's preseason game against the Lions, according to the Bay Area News Group.

Branch was limited to two games last year because of a fractured fibula suffered earlier in the season. He will be evaluated leading up to the third preseason game next Friday against Green Bay.
